2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed of the Year

Creating this years Best Dressed of the Year list was no easy task. The celebrities to take to the red carpet brought the glam, edge, and elegance to everything that they had. With over 35 pages of nominees bestowed from week to week on the blogs Facebook page I had over 1300 looks to choose from. I cut that down to a mere ten which took weeks to be able to do. I present to you without further or do the 2012 Best Dressed of the Year list!

From now until the first of January I will be taking a break from the blog to enjoy the holidays with my family and friends. I want to thank each and every single reader that includes those who are religious loyal followers and those that just pass by. I can not believe how many people that I have reached since starting this blog a year and a half ago! I hope all my readers will continue to follow me into awards season in 2013, there are going to be some amazing posts coming out of that. I have some plans in the works for some new features that I think all my readers will enjoy, but for now I am signing off until the New Year! See you all then!

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Brand of the Year

This year there was no distinct ready to wear award just an award for the overall times a designer was worn on the red carpet. Elie Saab was leaps and bound over many of the other designers this year and as I said when he won the Couturier of the Year award last year this does not come as a surprise to be because he is my favorite brand to see hit the red carpet because in his amazing glamorous designs celebrities are pretty much tasked to make them look bad. So here is some of your pretty for the year: Katie Holmes at the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party, Elizabeth Banks at the ‘The Hunger Games’ Germany Premiere, Fan Bingbing at the Chopard Trophy Party during the Cannes Film Festival, and Keira Knightley at the ‘Anna Karenina’ premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
Rose Byrne at the SAG Awards, Jessica Chastain at the Charlie Chaplin Awards, Milla Jovovich at the Academy Sci/Tech Awards, Shu Qi at the Piaget China Boutique Opening.
Catherine Kallon at the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala, Emma Stone at the Essence ‘Black Women in Hollywood’ lunchon, Princess Clotilde of Savoy at the Luxembourg Royal Wedding Gala Dinner, and Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg at the Luxembourg Royal Wedding

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Couturier of the Year

Atelier Versace was the couturier that ended up on the best dressed list the most often this year. I find it hard to find someone who can not love a stunning Atelier Versace look on the red carpet and very few times does the look fail. My favorite Atelier Versace red carpet moment came by the way of the regal white and red gown worn by Angelina Jolie (L) at the Golden Globe Awards. My other favorites included Elisabetta Canalis at the Sanremo Music Festival, as well as Kate Hudson and Selena Gomez at the Venice Film Festival.
A selection of a few of my other favorites are Heidi Klum at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party, Kate Beckinsale at the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party, Milla Jovovich at the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala during the Cannes Film Festival, and Lucy Liu at the HBO Emmy Awards After-Party.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Most Disappointing

This pains me to give this Most Disappointing award to Cate Blanchett. She has long been a favorite of mine on the red carpet but this year she just wore a bunch of looks that I just could not get behind. It started with the awful Louis Vuitton dress, then move to an awkward Givenchy, came to a head in a horrible Fendi and started the spiral again in Antonio Beradi.
Because I could not just say she was horrible all year the three looks above were my favorite a gold and a black Alexander McQueen and a black Givenchy were when Cate was at the top of her game this year but ultimately there were more plunges than peaks.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed Event

There were thousands of events but the 2013 Prada Schiaparelli: Impossible Conversations gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. This event drew in over two pages of names onto the best dressed of the year list. Pictured above were my top 5 looks from the event. From L to R: Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan Atelier, Beyonce in Givenchy, Carey Mulligan in Prada, Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe, and Caroline Trentini in Olivier Theyskens.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best 50+ Award

There was no other winner for this award once Meryl Streep stepped out wearing her black Vivienne Westwood couture gown at this years BAFTA awards. The actress who is 63 year young looked absolutely fantastic at all the events that she attended. wearing Alessandra Rich for the Golden Globes and MaxMara for the Lucy + Crystal Women In Film Awards. The other bright shining moment for the Oscar winning actress was whens she won her second Academy Award wearing a gold Lanvin gown, the same color as the only other time the actress won the prestigious acting awad/

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Under 25

Emma Stone gave Diane Kruger a run for her money this year wearing many amazing looks on the red carpet this year. Barely sneaking under the limit at 24 Emma wins this Best Under 25 Award. Emma is always a delight to see on the red carpet as she always looks fantastic in whatever she wears. Having relationships with Gucci, Lanvin, Burberry, and Chanel she always looks stunning mixed with the occasional Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli, or Narciso Rodriguez.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Red Carpet Diva of 2012

Diane Kruger has always been one of my absolute favorites to see grace the red carpets for quite some time. This year she maintained her title from last year wearing some absolutely fantastic looks. Last year Diane won the title for attending many isolated events and making an appearance at some of the major film festivals. This year Diane still attended all those isolated parties and award shows as well as serving on the jury during the Cannes Film Festival. Sans last year the Red Carpet Diva of the Year usually goes hand in hand with a jury member of the Cannes Film Festival because they are thrown gorgeous couture gowns to wear over the two week period of the festival. My top four looks from Diane are pictured in chronological order, Prada at the Critics Choice Movie Awards, Giambattista Valli at the Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony, Vivienne Westwood at the Cannes Film Festival Premiere of ‘Amour,’ and Jason Wu at the Carnival for Haiti Benefit during the Cannes Film Festival.
Versus Fall 2012 RTW at the Cannes Film Festival Judges Photocall, Chanel Resort 2013 at the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS gala, Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture at the Cannes Film Festival Closing Ceremony, Valentino Fall 2012 Couture at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of ‘Inescapable.’
Alessandra Rich Spring 2013 at the Festival Night party at the Berlin Film Festival, Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 RTW at the One Night in Monoco Gala, Azzedine Alaia at the ‘Farewell My Queen’ New York Screening, Jason Wu Spring 2013 RTW at the Jaeger-LeCoultre Place Vendome Boutique Opening.
10 Crosby Derek Lam at the ‘Farewell My Queen’ Berlin Film Festival Photocall, Atelier Versace at the Versace Eyewear Dinner, Chanel Fall 2011 Couture at the Chanel Pre-Oscar dinner, Marchesa Resort 2013 at the Jacob & Co Charity Gala.
Versace Resort 2012 at the Atelier Versace Spring 2012 Couture presentation, Giambattista Valli Fall 2011 Couture at the Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture presentation, Derek Lam Fall 2012 RTW at the ‘Farewell My Queen’ Paris Premiere, and Calvin Klein at the Calvin Klein party during the Cannes Film Festival.
Will Diane hold her title three years in a row?!

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Street Style

There was no competition when it came to the winner of ‘Best Street Style of the Year.’ Miranda Kerr worked the sidewalk, not that way get your mind out of the gutter, like she was walking a runway each and every time that she stepped out. She won over my eyes wearing some amazing looks from the likes of Balenciaga, Victoria Beckham, Erdem, Isabel Marant, and Marni for her everyday looks. And her accessories were always just as amazing including Lanvin pumps, Prada handbags, and RayBan aviators

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Promotional Tour

There were some amazing promotional tours that played out this year, Elizabeth Banks for the Hunger Games, Kristen Stewart for Breaking Dawn and On the Road, among many others. Only one reigned supreme wearing several amazing ensemble, Kate Beckinsale for ‘Total Recall.’ She stepped out wearing some amazing gown from Donna Karan, Naeem Khan, and Armani Prive for the red carpet premieres. She looked amazing wearing each and every single one of them. I had actually predicted the black Donna Karan Fall 2012 RTW gown that she wore for the London Premiere of the film.
Kate also looked amazing at the less formal events promoting the film such as Photocalls, After-Parties, a Comic-Con panel, and a press day wearing J. Mendel, Andrew Gn, Rag & Bone, and Preen. I have to say that Kate continues to be one of my absolute favorite celebrities to take to the red carpet.
