Of the current crop of supermodels Coco Rocha is one of my favorites mostly because she looks like a modern woman with a pin-up twist. Coco is a muse for New York based designer Zac Posen and the two almost always make magic together when she steps out on a red carpet. After a kind of disappointing look last year wearing a Givenchy jumpsuit
previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor with hot pink extensions, I am hoping to see her go back to the Posen looks. This black mermaid gown from the Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2013 gown is an extremely bold statement which is perfect for this event. Finish this look with Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Max’
black sandals and a silver Kotur
mirror clutch along with a bold teased faux mohawk and a bold red lip and Coco will stun yet again on the red carpet at the Met Ball.
Doutzen Kroes has been a red carpet powerhouse in the past few years wearing several stunning ensembles. For this years Met Ball I would love to see her wear this green leaf print Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture gown. I think that this gown would be perfect for the 28 year Dutch model for this event. The Met Ball kick starts the month of May for Doutzen who after this event will travel to the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival. This gown is a bold statement that will fit in perfectly at the ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ themed gala. Finish with a black minaudiere and some black Christian Louboutin sandals as well as a diamond cuff and an old Hollywood hairstyle to complete this amazing ensemble.
Gisele Bundchen always attends the Met Gala but has not really wowed me since the 2008 ‘Superheros: Fashion and Fantasy’ gala where she wore a stunning blush pink Versace
gown.Well for this years gala I am hoping that Gisele returns to that partnership and wears this stunning lavender Atelier Versace Fall 2012 Couture gown. This is a stuning gown and I am surpirsed that it hasn’t been snatched up for a red carpet yet, like most of the rest of this collection. This gown paired with a gold minaudiere, gold strappy sandals and Gisele’s sleek tresses and she will find herself back on top of the best dressed lists.
Iman has been absent from the red carpet for a while and that is a sad thing because no one brings diva glam to the red carpet like Iman. I am hoping to see the classic supermodel make her red carpet return at the Met Ball this year. For her return I would love to see her wear this burnt orange halter Zac Posen Fall 2013 RTW gown with a peplum waist. This gown moved so well on the runway and the model was able to maneuver the stairs with ease, which is important as the Met red carpet starts at the street level and travels up the stairs of the Museum. Finish the look with a Lanvin tone on tone brown ‘Sea Breeze’ minaudiere
, a pair of bronze peep toe pumps, a full hairstyle and a fresh face would complete this ensemble.
Gong Li has made a few home runs in the fashion department at the Cannes Film Festival, most notably her grape Roberto Cavalli Couture
gown worn to the festival in 2011. I am hoping to see the stunning Chinese actress back at the festival this year working for L’Oreal. When Cannes and L’Oreal pair up there is rarely a misstep. Well here I have my three must see looks on Gong. Up first I have a stunning red and charcoal Armani Prive Spring 2013 Couture ball gown. I think that this is a stunning choice only if it is possible to have a train added to this look as I think for this festival Gong needs a dramatic train. The red lace Elie Saab Spring 2013 Couture gown would be perfect for the 47 year old actress who doesn’t look a day over 30. The demure but grand elegance of this gown would have fashion audiences everywhere swooning at her ensemble. And finally we have a gold Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 Couture gown, the coloring would look amazing on Gong and again has a demure grandness that just would shine bright like a diamond on the Cannes red carpet.
In 2011 Gwen Stefani was not exactly on top form at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a Stella McCartney jumpsuit and a Giorgio Armani gown. Each look seemed too contrived for Gwen who left the over the top shtick behind years ago for more subtle glamorous look. Well I am hoping to see the pop star back on the on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals during the span of the festival from May 16th to the 26th. There are so many looks that I would love to see the blond bombshell wear on the red carpet, but I have narrowed it down to just three, starting with this midnight blue Armani Prive Fall 2012 Couture gown. The gowns from the Fall collections have their last shot at being worn by a major celebrity on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival and I think this gown paired with Gwen’s diva attitude would work fantastically for her at this event. Next we have another Armani design but this one is from the Giorgio Armani Fall 2013 RTW collection. The black and white keyhole blouse paired with a black skirt is a glamorous modern take on Old Hollywood. Up last we have a cream Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 Couture gown with a stunning structured cape. No one has worn a look similar to this since Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tom Ford
gown at the 2012 Oscars and I think that Cannes would be a perfect place for Gwen to go up against Gwyneth in a who wore the trend better poll even though each look is similar but different in complete opposite ways.
And up last we have last years runner up for Best 50+ on the red carpet Jane Fonda. The actress has found an amazing plastic surgeon and has tweaked little bits as she has aged and she looks damn good for her age of 75. Three looks I would love to see from Jane this festival are this stunning blue Georges Hobeika Signature Fall 2013 RTW gown. Jane knows how to cover up, dress for her age, and look oh so sexy all at the same time and this gown would give her the body hugging that she loves. Next is a white Marchesa Pre-Fall 2013 gown that was sold on ModaOperandi.com. This is a very different look for Jane as I do not think I have seen her show her arms on a red carpet in a very long time, but this is the French Riviera in May its the perfect time to be floaty and carefree. And finally we have a stunning deep red Valentino Fall 2013 RTW gown with a pleated skirt. I picture this gown on someone of maturity not just because of the silhouette but because it would need someone with that air of sophistication not to make this gown look like a sister wife dress.
Last year Diane Kruger reigned supreme as Red Carpet Diva of the Year which would have been hard had she not been on the Jury of the Cannes Film Festival. I am hoping to see Diane at several red carpet premieres over the two week course of the festival. Here are a few looks that I would die to see Diane wear. The first wish I have for Diane is this amazing multi-shade of green and black geometric Armani Prive Spring 2013 Couture gown. This gown is stunning and because it is such a bold statement that many will be afraid to wear but Diane is one of the few that would make this gown look effortless. This next look has been something that I have been dying to see on the red carpet since it was presented during the Christian Dior Fall 2012Couture show. I think again that Diane is one of the few women in Hollywood that can make this gown sing a glamorous song on the red carpet. Finally we have this stunning snow leopard print Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture gown. Out of all of these looks this is what I would most like to see Diane wear on the red carpet during the course of this festival.
Last year during the Cannes Film Festival Doutzen Kroes wowed in some simple but impactful looks from Elie Saab and Versace ready to wear. I think these simple looks work much better for the L’Oreal spokesmodel. For this year I would love to see her wear three simple silhouette looks. First up we have a stunning strapless blush pink Armani Prive Fall 2012 Couture gown. I think that Doutzen would glow in this gown with her tan skin and blonde hair. I am afraid that this gown will head to the Armani archives forever if she doesn’t snatch it up for this festival. Next is a midnight blue Elie Saab Fall 2013 RTW gown. I think that this may look a little to similar to the Elie Saab gown she wore last year but she would look the same no matter what. Last we have a stunning purple Versace Fall 2013 RTW halter neck dress with a keyhole cutout. Take the neck piece off and Doutzen will sizzle with sex appeal as she glides down the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals.
Eva Longoria is a Cannes Film Festival red carpet regular, doing her duties looking absolutely stunning wearing some of the the most fabulous designs ever. Here are three looks that I would like to see her don over the course of her time at the festival. First we have a stunning gold strapless Elie Saab Spring 2013 Couture gown. This is the classic Cannes glamour dress, a perfect mix of the French Riviera and Hollywood. Next we have the bold statement dress. Each year Eva wears one gown that is a big bold statement, last year it was a stunning Marchesa and in 2010 (she did not appear in 2011) a fabulous Emilio Pucci. For this years bold statement I would love to see her wear this white Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture gown with gold embroidery and embellishment around the waist. Eva may not be the tallest but you wouldn’t know when she wears some amazing large gowns and always looks stunning. Finally we have a simple blue and silver Naeem Khan Fall 2013 RTW art deco inspired gown. I think that Eva would look stunning in this gown with a faux bob and will look effortless yet sophisticated just like her surroundings.
For 16 years now L’Oreal Paris has been sponsoring the Cannes Film Festival adding its glamour to the red carpets over the two week span of the festival. Last year was the first year for Bianca Balti to attend the festival for L’Oreal and she wore a bold Dolce & Gabbana
floral and cherub printed gown complete with puffy sleeves and mermaid hi-low hem. I would not expect the Dolce & Gabbana muse not to wear the brand during the festival and I have two ideas for what she should wear for the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. These two red dresses were presented on the runway of the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013 RTW collection. Well she can not show up wearing a cocktail dress on the red carpet at Cannes as a L’Oreal spokesmodel. The red gown to the left should just be made to be a floor length column dress and the one on the right would go to the floor and have a small train. Of course this is what I would do if I were to style her for this event.
Cheryl Cole walked the red carpet at the premiere of ‘Amour’ during last years Cannes Film Festival and despite the torrential downpour that ensued looks absolutely amazing wearing a stunning Stephane Rolland creation for the second year in a row. Well why I may have another Stephane Rolland gown for Cheryl to wear for this years event I have a few other wishes as well. First up we have a stunning white Georges Chakra Spring 2013 Couture gown. I think that this is a modern statement that we don’t often see at Cannes and Cheryl is the girl that can bring that to the event. In the middle we have a silver to navy ombre Nicholas Oakwell Spring 2013 Couture gown. This is a gown from an up and coming British designer and I think that Cheryl would be a great client for the brand and this gown would be a perfect statement for the Cannes Film Festival. And finally we have this stunning black Stephane Rolland Spring 2013 Couture gown. If Cheryl sticks with the designer that two years running has given her a spot on the best dressed lists of the festival then I think that this is the gown that she should wear. Its simplistic but modern with the sheer panel and would be a sleek statement to be made during the festival.
Claudia Schiffer is a German supermodel, one of the crop of originals from the 80’s and 90’s. She is another L’Oreal Spokesmodel and a Cannes Film Festival red carpet regular. Every year Claudia takes to the red carpet at the festival for at least one premiere, usually wearing Chanel. The model has been a muse for Karl Lagerfeld as he designs his collections for Chanel. This spring there were several designs that I could see Claudia wear from the Chanel Spring 2013 Couture collection, the first we have is a white lace gown with a caplet trimmed with black satin ribbon. I think out of all the looks I have featured here that this is the gown that Claudia is most likely to wear even though it is not in her black gown comfort zone. The look I would most like to see Claudia wear is this black tulle layered Chanel Spring 2013 Couture a-line gown. This would make a bold glamorous statement that we rarely see from Claudia. The final wish is a big stretch because not only is it not just black but has a floral print. This would look stunning on Claudia and she would be one of the few that I can picture making this look come to life on the red carpet.
One of my Ones to Watch in 2012 was Andrea Riseborough and for the most part she didn’t let me down but this year she has had several questionable looks and her makeup artist hates her with a dying passion. I am hoping everything works out for when she makes her red carpet appearance for the LA Premiere of Oblivion. I would love to see the star wear this amazing silver Nicholas Oakwell Spring 2013 Couture gown with layers of beaded fringe. This gown is such a statement that I would love to see her wear her hair up in a tight bun, a silver satin clutch, and a pair of silver satin peep toe pumps would be the perfect finishing touches on this old Hollywood glam look.
Olga Kurylenko is a stunning Ukrainian born French actress who has been breaking into the Hollywood scene with roles as a Bond Girl, in the Showtime series ‘Magic City,’ and Hitman. Her latest film ‘Oblivion.’ For the red carpet premiere I would love to see her wear this black Giorgio Armani Fall 2013 RTW gown. This gown is a mix of classic elegance and sexy glamour. Olga has given us some amazing red carpet looks in the past and I am hoping that this premiere will be no different. Finish this look with a black Edie Parker clutch, a pair of Christian Louboutin black peep toe satin pumps, a pair of cluster diamond earrings, and a stack of two diamond bracelets and Olga will have a perfectly accessorized look to wow us with on the red carpet.
The Cannes Film Festival just like the Met Ball is just around the corner. As a sponsor of the event L’Oreal Paris sends all of their spokesmodels just to walk the red carpet and add a dose of Hollywood glamour to the red carpet. Ironically the first actress we have up for a wish list is not a Hollywood name but a Bollywood name. Aishwarya Rai is an Indian star and obviously a face of L’Oreal. She has a huge relationship with Elie Saab and I always expect at least once look by the designer worn by her during the duration of the festival. Last year I was disappointing with her blue gown from Elie Saab’s Fall 2011 Couture collection (pictured L). Well I have three looks by the designer for the star to choose from. First is a powder blue ball gown from the Elie Saab Spring 2013 Couture, out of all the looks this is best for a premiere. I think that this gown encompasses the go big or go home mentality of Cannes for the major stars. Next is a stunning electric blue long sleeved Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2013 gown, this is much more of a party ensemble and as L’Oreal throws some amazing parties during the course of the festival. Finally we have this midnight blue Elie Saab Fall 2013 RTW beaded gown. This could go for either a party or a standard non-gala premiere.
Last May model Barbara Palvin made her Cannes red carpet debut looking stunning in a chevron Valentino Fall 2011 Couture gown. I am looking forward to seeing what the stunning Hungarian beauty will bring to the red carpet this year. First look I have for her is this stunning red Armani Prive Spring 2013 Couture gown. She should feel honored that I have wished for her to wear this as it was one of my favorites of the Spring 2013 Couture collections. She would look amazing in this and as a face of L’Oreal she would not go unnoticed. Next is a stunning Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 pale pink floral embroidered gown. I think that this would look amazing against Barbara’s pale skin. Last but not least I have a stunning white and gold baroque print Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 Couture gown. Again another one of my favorites of the Spring 2013 Couture collections and it is my favorite of these looks for Barbara to wear as it totally embodies the Cannes experience.
Finally we have Beyonce. The stunning actress and pop star has not been on a Cannes Film Festival red carpet as a L’Oreal Paris spokesmodel and hasn’t been on the famous stairs at the event since the 2006 Premiere of her film ‘Dreamgirls’ during the festival. I am hoping that between stops in France at the same time as the festival that the star will make her first appearance at the festival. The first look I would like to see Beyonce wear for the festival is this black tulle with gold embroidery Marchesa Fall 2013 RTW strapless mermaid gown. I watched the video of this collection and this dress is stunning and in the finale they showed the dress without the jacket and it is just even more stunning. The second option I have for the star is this amazing red Zuhair Murad Fall 2012 Couture gown. This gown is sexy and light which embodies the goal of everyone’s look when they walk the red carpet at Cannes. The last look that I picked is tone on tone black Zuhair Murad Fall 2013 RTW gown. This is just a sultry sexy look that Bey would rock on any red carpet and I think that she would stand out at Cannes wearing.
On the rare occasion that she steps onto the red carpet I usually fall in love with what Dita Von Teese is wearing. When stepping out to do promotions she usually wears the best cocktail looks. Here I have three looks that I would love to see her wear. First we have a stunning blue Carolina Herrera Fall 2013 RTW dress. I think that this 40’s-esque dress is something that Dita would thrive in with her classic pin-up girl style. Next we have a Christian Dior Fall 2013 RTW tiered dress with amazing sequined details. Finish this list with a stunning red beaded cocktail dress from one of Dita’s favorite designers Jenny Packham from her Fall 2013 RTW collection. This would be a perfect dress for when Dita is out promoting the liquor brand that she is the face of, Cointreau.
An even rarer but usually extremely stunning moments is when we get to see Dita wear a stunning gown on the red carpet. The first one that I would love to see her wear is this blue and white thistle print Carolina Herrera Fall 2013 RTW gown. This Carolina Herrera collection had many possible red carpet moments that are bound to happen and is something that Dita would look stunning in almost any of the looks from it. Next we have a midnight and powder blue Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture new look inspired ensemble. I love this dress but off course I would make sure that this dress hits the floor because Dita is extremely short and I want her to look fabulous. The final gown would be this stunning black gown with gold embroidery from the Marchesa Fall 2013 RTW collection. This is my absolute favorite wish out of all of these wishes and I am hoping to see her wear it during the Met Ball or well honestly anytime because I think that she would look fantastic in this gown.
