2013 CFDA Awards Wish List Part 3

 We haven’t seen much of Leighton Meester since her hit show ‘Gossip Girl’ ended in December but I am hopeful that she will make a red carpet return at this years CFDA Awards. Leighton is the face of Vera Wang’s ‘Lovestruck’ fragrance and this year the glam designer will be receiving the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award so it surprise me if Leighton isn’t their to support Vera. I would love to see Leighton take to the red carpet wearing this black and white jacquard print cocktail dress from the Vera Wang Fall 2013 RTW collection. Leighton is usually known for amazing interesting taste in footwear so I am expecting some amazing Jimmy Choo or Brian Atwood dazzler and some amazing Harry Winston sparklers to complete this amazing red carpet ensemble.

 I have a hate/love relationship with Rita Ora on the red carpet sometimes she looks absolutely fantastic and others its a complete disaster doesn’t seem like there is any middle ground. As Rita knows Alexander Wang well it would not surprise me if Rita attends as his guest as she knows how to do downtown glam and could pull off with great aplomb the dressy dressed down looks from Alexander Wang. For the CFDA Awards I would love to see Rita wear this white halter top and pants from the Alexander Wang Fall 2013 RTW collection. Complete this ensemble with her signature red lip and a pair of silver sandals and Rita will be a great ambassador for the Women’s Wear Designer of the Year nominee on the red carpet.

And Finally to round out the 2013 CFDA Awards wish lists we have Stacy Keibler. Since she stepped out on the red carpet scene on the arm of George Clooney in the Fall of 2011 Stacy has been showing all of Hollywood that she is one to watch on the red carpet appearing in amazing gowns from the likes of Naeem Khan, Marchesa, and Armani Prive. But for this years CFDA Awards I would love to see Stacy support Accessories Designer of the Year nominee Phillip Lim by wearing this midnight blue 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2013 RTW velvet double breasted suit. I would want Stacy to ooze sex appeal wearing this menswear inspired ensemble so I would recommend that she go topless under the blazer highlighting her decolletage with a diamond and sapphire statement necklace from Van Cleef & Arpels, a pair of Casadei black patent leather t-strap ‘Blade’ pumps, and a cocktail ring would complete this absolutely amazing androgynous ensemble.

2013 CFDA Awards Wish List Part 2

When Emilia Clarke burst onto the red carpet scene after gaining fame from her hit HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ she almost exclusively wore Chanel for all of her major red carpet appearances, and while the two were a match made in fashion heaven I am glad that she has been embracing other brands for her red carpet outings so far this year. One designer that she has been wearing a lot of has been Zac Posen and I think that Emilia should wear this wine colored Zac Posen Fall 2013 RTW gown with a matching cape. This gown is perfect because Zac is not nominated but would be in attendance just a a member and supporter of his fellow American designers. Complete this look with a gold box clutch, gold sandals, a gold cuff, and a sleek updo and Emilia will add much needed drama to the CFDA Awards red carpet on June 3, 2013.

Model Hilary Rhoda has been hot on the New York City red carpet scene attending several major red carpet galas, parties, and premieres this year looking best dressed worthy on almost all of her red carpet appearances. This amazing 20’s/30’s inspired Tory Burch Fall 2013 RTW gown would look absolutely amazing on the model who knows how to work the red carpet. Tory like Zac Posen is not nominated but a fixture at the CFDA Awards as she has been an honoree in the past and I am expected to see her designs take to the red carpet. A sleek silver Judith Leiber clutch, black sandals, and her hair worn up in a faux bob would make this ensemble perfect for the CFDA Awards.

Julianne Hough is someone who I either love or loathe when she steps out on the red carpet as her red carpet aesthetic is extremely bi-polar. I am wishing that she takes to the red carpet at Lincoln Center wearing a gown from CFDA member Naeem Khan’s Fall 2013 RTW cream gown with an embellished gunmetal waistband. I am incredibly surprised that Naeem has never been honored by the CFDA with his stunning designs that end up on the likes of international socialites, First Ladies, actresses, models, and singers. Complete this look for Julianne with a pair of cream pumps, a gunmetal clutch, and a sleek up do would complete this amazing red carpet ensemble.

And finally for today we have Kerry Washington to wear an amazing white with floral embroidery Marchesa Fall 2013 RTW cocktail dress with sheer voluminous sleeves. Like everyone else in this post Georgina Chapman and Karen Craig, the chief designers at Marchesa, are not nominated and much like Naeem Khan the ladies have never been honored despite there huge following of their stunning evening wear. Kerry has not been my favorite on the red carpet this year like she has been in the past but I am hoping that the ‘Scandal’ star will wow me on the red carpet at this years CFDA Awards in this dress. Complete the look with a red Marchesa clutch, gold Christian Louboutin sandals, and her hair worn up in a top knot and Kerry will have a winning look on her hands.

2013 CFDA Awards Wish List Part 1

 The Council of Fashion Designers of America, or the CFDA as it is known, gathers at Lincoln Center every June to celebrate designers in American fashion. This year the ceremony will take place at the home of New York Fashion week on June 3, 2013. Now all of the ladies that are going to be features over the next few days in this list are not confirmed to attend and will not be until I see them walking the red carpet at the event. I have chosen each lady based on past relationships with CFDA members and nominated designers. Allison Williams has stepped out wearing Oscar de la Renta several time in the past year since she has made her mark on the fashion world. Oscar will be receiving The Founders Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert and Allison would be the perfect date for the classic designer. This lime green gown with grape purple embroidery from the Oscar de la Renta Resort 2013 collection would be the best option for Allison as it is her classic sophisticated style to the T. Pair this gown with just a pair of simple gold sandals, a gold bracelet, and a classic up do and Allison will make her mark on the CFDA red carpet.

 Anna Wintour is the only woman that is 100% attending the 2013 CFDA Awards as the Council is partnered with Vogue to help launch the careers of promising young New York based designers like Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung, and Jason Wu. For this event Anna usually wears a business like knee length sheath dress made my an American designer like Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, or Marc Jacobs so many of you might be puzzled as to why I have chosen to put her in this black and grey Balenciaga Fall 2013 RTW dress which is a French fashion house. Well in January the house announced that its new creative director is former CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award winner and multi time CFDA Award winner Alexander Wang. So I would not be surprised if the famous Vogue Editor in Chief wore a design by him. What would surprise me is if she doesnt wear her standard nude Manolo Blahnik ‘AW’ sandals and her beaded necklaces.

 Cat Deeley has selected a Monique Lhuillier gown for several of her major red carpet appearances in the past year. Cat wore gowns by the designer for the Emmy Awards and the Costume Designers Guild Awards among many others. If she were to attends as the guest of the designer who would just be attending as a member of the CFDA if she chose to attend I would love to see Cat wear this amazing white patterned Monique Lhuillier Fall 2013 RTW gown. She is one of the few ladies that I have been able to picture wearing this gown on the red carpet and I know she would have no trouble pulling of the glam that this look requires. Complete this look with a gold metallic clutch, gold sandals, and her hair pulled back would create a winning look for this red carpet.

 While I am usually a fan of Christina Ricci on the red carpet lately she has been underwhelming me so I am hoping that she redeems herself on the red carpet of the CFDA Awards if she was to attend this year. I would love to see her wear CFDA member and Women’s Wear Designer of the Year nominee Marc Jacobs silver sequin gown from the Fall 2013 RTW collection. I was surprised that not more of this collection was worn for the Met Ball this year but Christina would look fantastic in this liquid sliver gown. Complete the look with a black Edie Parker clutch and some black peep toe pumps and Christina will dazzle and sparkle on the red carpet at the 2013 CFDA Awards

It would not surprise me if Claire Danes attends the 2013 CFDA Awards with designer and friend Ricardo Tisci the creative director at Givenchy who will be receiving the International Award. This is the one chance, besides possibly Anna Wintour, that we have a shot at seeing a non-American based brand on the red carpet. I decided to dig into the Givenchy archives to pick this amazing gold Givenchy Spring 2008 Couture completely embellished cocktail dress. I have been in love with this dress since the first time I saw it on the runway and I am surprised that this didn’t get picked up for an Awards Show, Met Ball, or Film Festival in the past but you know what they say you snooze you loose. I would pair this dress with a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals and a loose up do would complete this absolutely stunning ensemble.

Amy Adams for the London Premiere of ‘Man of Steel’ Wish List

Amy Adams will take on the famous comic book character Lois Lane along side Henry Cavill as Superman in this summers expected blockbuster ‘Man of Steel.’ With no LA premiere scheduled to my knowledge at this point London seems to be the big moment for Amy to wow me on the red carpet. During awards season we saw Amy wear an abundance of neutral colors such as nude, black, grey, and silver so I am hoping to see her wow me at this premiere. Amy and Marchesa have a long relationship together and I think that this knee length peachy cream dress with a train and red crystal encrusted embroidery from the Marchesa Fall 2013 RTW collection is a perfect choice for her for this big premiere. Many will say that this might be too much but with the Cannes Film Festival mostly behind us and new Resort 2014, Fall 2013 Couture, and Spring 2014 collections that are starting to sprout up and will continue to I think that this gown is perfect for this red carpet. Complete the glam ensemble with a red Marchesa clutch, a pair of red crystal encrusted Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps, simple diamond studs, and an old Hollywood updo and Amy will wow on the red carpet!

‘This Is The End’ Premiere Wish for Emma Watson

Emma Watson stunned in black and white minimalist sequin Chanel Couture at her Cannes Film Festival premiere of her film ‘The Bling Ring,’ but I am sure that she will get back into her avant garde sporty minis soon enough. On June 3rd Emma will join co-stars James Franco, Jonah Hill, and Seth Rogan for the premiere of another of her films ‘This Is The End.’ For this premiere I feel like it will be a much more laid back red carpet so Emma’s mini love would fit right in. I think that this blue and white patterned Christian Dior Fall 2013 RTW cocktail dress is a prefect choice her Emma for this Hollywood premiere. Finish off this dress with a pair of black leather strappy sandals and pulled back hair and Emma will add the fashion factor to a male dominated red carpet.

2013 Cannes Film Festival: Closing Ceremony & ‘Zulu’ Gala Premiere

The 2013 Cannes Film Festival will come to a close on Sunday May 26th with a glamorous celebrity packed awards ceremony immediately followed by the premiere of ‘Zulu.’ Mistress of Ceremonies Audrey Tautou, who is sadly missed on the red carpet during the events, will take to the stage to host the awards ceremony. Audrey looked stunning wearing a custom Yiqing Yin gown for the Opening Ceremony, and I am hoping that she will wow again on Sunday. This navy blue Chanel Spring 2012 Couture gown is something that I would love to see Audrey wear as it is classic yet still glamorous and memorable. Finish with stunning diamond jewelry and black peep toe pump and Audrey will meet if not exceed my expectations for her.

At the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, Nicole Kidman took a huge risk wearing a Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture tea length dress. That risk payed off and I am hoping to see her wow me again on Sunday. This red Valentino Fall 2010 Couture gown has been sitting in the designers archive and I just can not understand why. I think that Nicole would look stunning wearing this 60s inspired gown. The last major red gown moment that Nicole had on the red carpet was her red Balenciaga at the 2007 Academy Awards so she is LONG overdue for another. A rockabilly inspired updo, a red clutch, red sandals, and stunning Chopard diamond earrings would be the perfect toppings to this amazing gown.

Finally we have the final wish for the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Miranda Kerr will most likely be in attendance at the Closing Ceremony of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival as her husband, Orlando Bloom, is one of the stars of ‘Zulu’ which will be the closing film of the festival. Miranda always looks glamorous when she steps out be it to get her divers license renewed, attend a promotional event for Victoria’s Secret, or walk a red carpet. For this event I would love to see her wear this amazing cream Naeem Khan Fall 2013 RTW gown. This is a perfect look for someone who will be just attending the event as a plus one but will still allow her to hold her own on the glamorous red carpet. A pair of gunmetal Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals, a gunmetal silver clutch, and sparkling diamond jewelry will have all eyes on her.

2013 Cannes Film Festival: amFAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala Wish List Part 3

Last year Milla Jovovich attended the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS gala wearing a stunning gold Atelier Versace gown. Since the two had such a fantastic paring last year I am wishing to bring the two them back together for this years event on Thursday! This deep purple Versace Fall 2013 RTW gown has been a favorite of mine since it walked the runway adding glamour to the punk inspired collection. This gown needs someone with a diva attitude to pull it off an Milla is definitely one of those ladies who can. Some an amazing pair of Chopard diamond earrings and a bracelet, a silver Swarovski clutch, and a pair of black peep toe pumps would complete this amazing look.

I can not ever recall seeing Nicole Kidman attending an amFAR event but as a member of the jury at this years Cannes Film Festival I am sure that she will be in attendance during the event on Thursday. Since this black and silver Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2013 Couture gown walked the runway in January I have had it reserved for Nicole and I think that she would just look like an old Hollywood goddess wearing this gown. Nicole has been wearing a lot of rockabilly style hair during this festival but a sleek side parted wavey hair would be the perfect style for this gown. Complete with a pair of simple diamond drop earrings, a silver clutch, and a pair of black sandals from Jimmy Choo and Nicole will be set for her first amFAR gala appearance.

Zoe Saldana has a grand friendship with Prabal Gurung and if she doesn’t don a creation for her premiere of ‘Blood Ties’ today then I am hoping that she will don this red gown from the Prabal Gurung Fall 2013 RTW collection for the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS gala on Thursday. I believe that this gown was made for her and I am praying that she launches the designer into international fame by wearing him for the first time in the history of the Cannes Film Festival. A pair of black sandals, minimal jewelery, and a sleek bun would be the perfect end to this amazing ensemble.

2013 Cannes Film Festival: Cannes Classics Cleopatra Screening

Tomorrow Jessica Chastain, who made her very first major red carpet appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010, will take to the Palais de Festivals to present ‘Cleopatra’ staring Elizabeth Taylor in the Cannes Classics selection. I am a huge fan of Jessica’s style and I think that this midnight blue Andrew Gn Fall 2013 RTW bell shaped gown is perfect for the red headed actress. I expect that even though she is not presenting her own film during this festival that Jessica will still go big or go home when she takes to the red carpet. Complete this glamorous ensemble with a pair of black sandals and stunning Harry Winston diamonds and Jessica will wow me on the red carpet.

2013 Cannes Film Festival: amFAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala Wish List Part 2

Gwen Stefani has been a guest of amFAR and Elton John at their respective AIDS research galas and as a L’Oreal spokesmodel it would not surprise me to see her take to the red carpet on the 23rd at this years amFAR Cinema Against AIDS gala. I am hoping she does in fabulous style to redeem herself from the tragic moment at the 2013 Met Ball. To do so I have dug into the Armani Prive archive back to 2011 and this navy blue and red Armani Prive Spring 2011 Couture (not RTW! my mistake!) architectural gown. I have been dying to see a celebrity take to the red carpet wearing this gown but as of yet it has not been the case and Gwen has the attitude to pull it off. Complete the look with a sleek ponytail and a pair of red pumps, as presented on the runway, an Gwen will wow me on the amFAR gala red (or should I say white) carpet.

On her first red carpet this year at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival Jane Fonda wowed in an aqua Atelier Versace gown and I am hoping that her wow factor keeps on coming during her run, which I am most certainly sure it will. For the 2013 amFAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala next week I would love to see Jane wear Georges Hobeika Signature Fall 2013 RTW. Georges Hobeika isn’t a brand that we often see on the red carpet and I am disappointed in this but the celebrity following is growing and Mrs Fonda is one of the celebs that turns to him for red carpet gowns. This midnight blue Georges Hobeika Signature Fall 2013 RTW gown is perfect for Jane as it has her required long sleeves and fitted silhouette. A pair of black peep toe Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, a black minaudiere, as well as diamond & sapphire earrings from Chopard and Jane will continue a glam run.

Janet Jackson is a regular at amFAR events which was founded by one of her late brother’s, Michael Jackson, closest friends Elizabeth Taylor to help end the AIDS epidemic. We have seen Janet wear the likes of Hadier Ackerman, Marchesa, and Emilio Pucci to these events in the past few years and this year I am hoping the Janet will call upon her friend Donatella Versace to create her gown for this event. Now yes I did say gown and have a cocktail dress shown here. I would like Janet and Donatella to take this gown and have it made into a full length gown for the singer to wear for this years gala. I think that this dress as presented is something that Janet would own but is not quite event appropriate. This gown paired with Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Max’ black sandals, and a Christian Louboutin ‘Marquis’ spike embellished clutch and Janet will wow on the red carpet.

While I was misinformed that Kirsten Dunst was going to be in attendance during the opening of the ‘Un Certain Regard’ selection during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday she has been spotted arriving at the Nice airport yesterday. As an amFAR Gala regular I would not be surprised to see the star at the event on Thursday. For this red carpet I would love to see Kirsten wear this electric blue Jason Wu Fall 2013 RTW gown. This gown requires someone who has an air of effortless sophistication and Kirsten is one of the few that I could believe would pull it off. No clutch, a pair of black sandals, a sleek up do, and minimal diamond jewelery will put her on the path to a best dressed look at this years amFAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala!
