Coming up tomorrow is the big LA premiere of ‘Neighbors.’ While most are excited to see the sexy Zac Efron, and don’t think I am not, I am actually really excited to see what Rose Byrne will step out of her limo wearing. When I was shopping the runways for the dress that I would put Rose in this very colorful Peter Pilotto Fall 2014 RTW halter printed pencil dress caught my eye. Rose has a toned figure that should be shown off and this dress is eye catching and show stopping. I would keep things simple by adding just a pair of red pumps and a neutral palette of makeup to ensure that all eyes are on Rose and the look isn’t over done, keeping all of the focus on the dress.
Frieda Pinto has only been rocking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival since 2012 but she has been rocking it none the less. I will say that while high impact most of Mrs Pinto’s Cannes gowns have been on the more demure side of grand, and I am hoping that she will give us some amazing statements this year. First wish I have is something that is more along what Frieda has worn in the past with an ice blue Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Couture one shoulder gown with a thigh high split. This look is sexy, demure, elegant, and show stopping perfect for the red carpet. The other gown I picked is much more impact making, This white Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture sleeveless gown is a major red carpet moment just waiting to happen. If you watch the runway show on YouTube
you can see that the circular pattern is actually comprised of sequins. I would add a red waist band to really define Frieda’s waist as she is only 5’5 in comparison to the almost 6 foot model. A pair of white pumps or sandals with a red clutch would just make this look even more high impact.
L’Oreal gal Gwen Stefani has been MIA from the Cannes Film Festival red carpets since her last appearances in 2011 and I am dying to see the stunning rockstar make her return to the red carpet. No one knows how to do the old Hollywood rockstar look quite like Gwen and that is something that I love to see when she takes to the red carpet. She gives us proper 50’s housewife from the neck up and modern rock goddess from the neck down. If L’Oreal books Gwen on the red carpets this year I would love to first see her wear this amazing Alexis Mabille Spring 2014 Couture ivory gown with s side cutout and draped shawl detail. This gown is the epitome of Gwen’s style, classic with an edge and she is one of the few women that I can see being able to pull this gown off for the red carpet. The other gown I picked for Mrs Stefani is my favorite Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture black to silver ombre strapless embellished gown. I know that since this gown did not get a moment at the 2014 Academy Awards that someone will snatch it up for the Cannes Film Festival. This would defiantly play more into the glamour goddess thing that Gwen does and would look sensational on her.
Jane Fonda always rocks the red carpet in Cannes giving us one look to talk about after another. Last year Jane gave her most talked about look ever in an aqua Atelier Versace gown that featured side cutouts. At the age of 76 not one of her peers, who are mostly under the age of 35, is able to outdo her. The first look that I am wishing to see on the stunning actress is the opening pale pink floral embellished long sleeved number from the Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture collection. This is a much more feminine look that Jane doesn’t do very often and would be a change of pace for her and a glamorous one at that. The other look that I am praying for is one that is much more associated with Mrs Fonda. This deep jade green Zac Posen Fall 2014 RTW long sleeved gown which is completely backless. Its the mix of classic, sexy, and elegant which makes this the perfect look for Jane for the 2014 Cannes Film Festival red carpets.
Jennifer Lopez is another L’Oreal girl that has been missing on the red carpets of Cannes since she attended a single event, the amFAR Gala, in 2010. I really think that this is a place where Jennifer can shine on the red carpet. No one does the big diva red carpet moments like Jennifer Lopez, though Eva Longoria certainly does try. For this years event I have picked two gowns for Jennifer, actually it was three but the other Zuhair Murad Couture gown I wanted to see Jenny wear was snatched up by Zhang Ziyi
. The first gown that I have picked for Jennifer is this one shouldered Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture embellished white gown with a hip peplum and a sexy split up to there. This is a true diva moment and I think that Jenny is one of the few women that would give this look the attitude to really make it werk the way it should. The other gown I have picked for JLo is this Zuhair Murad Spring 2014 Couture leopard print embroidered ball gown. This is a gown that really makes a statement and I am praying that the wearer really does it justice and makes it a crazy memorable moment that I will have to consider for Best Dressed of the Year, and Jennifer would do that for me.
Earlier this year L’Oreal Paris announced Blake Lively and her hubby Ryan Reynolds as spokesmodels for the brand and I can not wait to see them on the red carpet in Cannes next month. The fact that Ryan will be premiering a film at the festival as well holds true to the hope that they will wow. Blake is one of the few ladies in Hollywood that doesn’t use a stylist and 9 times out of 10 the results are fantastic. One gown that I can see Blake trying to snatch up for this major red carpet is this orange Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Couture halter neck gown. This is stunning, sexy, and impact making which are all things that Blake looks for in a red carpet option. The other gown that I picked for Blake is this black and silver Marches Fall 2014 RTW lace gown. This gown is all the things the Atelier Versace gown is but in a demure old Hollywood way.
British pop star and recently reappointed ‘X-Factor UK’ judge Cheryl Cole usually flies into Cannes and attends one red carpet. I always hope for more when she does because she usually leaves me speechless and wanting more. Her go to designers for Cannes have been Stephane Rolland and Zuhair Murad so I have picked a look from each for her to pick from. The first is a black Stephane Rolland Spring 2014 Couture gown with long sleeves and a high low hoop skirt. This is a bold statement that would require some really awesome shoes. The other gown I picked is this white Zuhair Murad Spring 2014 Couture double breasted tuxedo inspired gown. The sexy menswear inspiration and the light color make this a sexy ultra feminine look perfect for the red carpet.
Eva Longoria is another red carpet staple at the Cannes Film Festival thanks to L’Oreal Paris. We usually see Eva’s best looks come to life on the red carpet of the Palais de Festivals and I am hoping that is no different this year. Picking just two gowns for the former ‘Desperate Housewives’ star is always hard because I wish Eva would just stay in Cannes for the duration of the entire festival and just wear fabulous gowns the whole time. The first gown I picked is this white Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture floral embellished cap sleeve ball gown. Eva loves a big dress and I think that this one is appropriately big for this red carpet. The other is a purple Christian Siriano Fall 2014 RTW ball gown in a shimmering fabric. This is a big statement and I think Eva would look absolutely stunning in this gown but the label might not be quite up to the standards of the Cannes Film Festival red carpets. We might see Eva rock another custom Emilio Pucci gown on the red carpet as well.
Back in 2010 Fan Bingbing took to the red carpet at several premieres during the Cannes Film Festival in stunning couture, sparking questions of ‘who is that girl?’ Well we found out later that year that Fan Bingbing is a Chinese actress and singer who is the face of L’Oreal Paris in Asia. Fan has given us 28 stunning looks since 2010 on the red carpets of Cannes and I am hoping that there is no change when it comes to the Opening Ceremony next month. My first wish is one that I can’t show all of you. Why? Because I want to see Fan bring back the custom Chinese traditional gown that she rocked in 2010, 2011, and 2012. These gowns really showed the diversity of the festival while maintaining high glamour with their modern cuts. After that all bets are off and I hope that Fan pulls from every designer that she has grown to love. The first gown I have picked for the actress is this heavily embellished Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture strapless ballgown. I think that this is a perfect statement for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet and Fan makes such beautiful magic when she wears the designs of Mr. Saab. The other gown I have chosen for Fan is this amazing white Georges Hobeika Spring 2014 Couture structured gown. This might come off as a little bridal to most but I think that Fan has the potential to pull this gown off and make it werk on that red carpet. Other brands I would love to see Mrs Bingbing wear are Stephane Rolland, Zuhair Murad Couture, Armani Prive, custom Atelier Versace, Marchesa, and Giambattista Valli.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN IT IS NOW THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN, ITS TIME TO START THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL WISH LISTS! Like every year we will be kicking things off with the lovely ladies whose job it is to walk the red carpets in couture just to add some glamour, that is right I am talking about the stunning L’Oreal Paris spokesmodels. Up first is Aishwarya Rai, the stunning actress from India. Each and every single year Aishwarya returns to the red carpet and rocks the most stunning gowns. Last year she rocked Gucci Premiere, Elie Saab, and two couture saris and looked absolutely amazing. This year I have two wishes for her. First is this amazing black Armani Prive Fall 2013 Couture embellished gown. I am surprised that no one picked up this gown since July of last year and I am praying to see it on the Cannes red carpet and Aishwarya would be the perfect woman to bring it to life on the croisette. The other is this goldenrod Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture draped gown, its so elegant and goddess inspired that Aishwarya would look absolutely stunning.
Last year Araya Hargate made her Cannes Film Festival debut wearing a midnight blue Salvatore Ferragamo fringe gown and a green Zac Posen ballgown and I am excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet next month with L’Oreal. The first look that I can see Araya rocking on the red carpet is this bright green Christian Dior Fall 2014 RTW, while her last green moment (the Zac Posen) might not have been one that most applauded but I do think that this minimalist moment would defiantly be. The other look I picked is more glam this black to burgundy Elie Saab Fall 2014 RTW halter ombre gown with a sexy slit would give the opposition to the other look. I would have this look modified to include a really long train because the steps into the Palais de Festivals needs a dramatic moment.
Two years ago Barbara Palvin, the Hungarian supermodel, rocked Valentino Couture girly beaded gown and last year a sexy Alexandre Vauthier tuxedo, I am hoping that she brings back the glamor for this year because the tux just did not work for me. The first gown I would pick for Barbara is this dove grey Alexis Mabille Fall 2013 Couture long sleeved pearl embellished gown. This is seriously one of my favorite gowns from the Fall 2013 Couture collections and it has yet to be worn which makes me incredibly sad. The other is a sexy, yet sophisticated, Versace Fall 2014 RTW red silk chiffon gown with gold embellishments. This gown would mix the statements of the past while the first would much more go back to the glamour that the Valentino evoked.
Bianca Balti is a stunning model and sometimes knows how to get it right on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Last year was not one of her finer years with the unflattering pin Chanel Couture gown she paired with clunky black accessories. I am hoping that this year she redeems herself with stunning moments that shut the red carpet down. The first gown I picked is this black, stone, and gold Alberta Ferretti Fall 2014 RTW gown. This gown needs a woman with presence to rock it and Bianca definitely has that. The same can be said about the cram colored Chanel Fall 2013 Couture halter gown that I have also picked. Only a model and like 3 actresses in Hollywood would be able to pull this gown off and what would be a better option than Chanel Couture to add glamor to a red carpet.
