On July 5th the American Film Institute will host its annual tribute gala, this year honoring legendary actress Jane Fonda. Jane killed it earlier this month at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a ruby red crystal embroidered Elie Saab Couture gown, and while I don’t think that she will go that grand for this occasion I am hoping for that signature Jane Fonda glamour diva to make an appearance at this event. I think that this jade green Raoul Fall 2014 RTW gown with long sleeved and slightly draped midsection would be absolutely stunning on the 76 year young actress. I love the gold cuff that was added for the presentation and I would actually add two gold cuffs and a pair of gold silk sandals to give this the perfect finishing touches for Jane for her big night! I am sure there will be a host of other stars that could include: Lindsey Lohan, Felicity Huffman, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, and Freida Pinto but as I have not been able to confirm anyone I decided to solely dedicate this post to Jane.

"Maleficent" LA Premiere Wish List
As you read this post the stars of Disney’s live-action film ‘Maleficent’ will be in their homes and hotel rooms in LA starting the glaming process to get ready for the films big LA premiere tonight at the famed El Capitan theater. Angelina Jolie plays Maleficent in the film and I am so super excited to see what she will rock for the premiere tonight. Angelina is one of the few that can take my breath away wearing a black gown, like she did at the films gala benefit dinner in London wearing a stunning custom Atelier Versace gown. With that in mind I would DIE if Mrs Jolie wore this black Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture gown. This gown with its portrait neckline, long sleeves, side swept train, and sheer details is a very grandiose gown for a Disney film premiere but I believe that it is fitting of the regal woman that Angelina plays. A sleek updo, a bold red lip, a pair of black sandals, and a stunning pair of diamond cluster earrings would ensure that Angie would rock the fuck out of the red carpet tonight.
Elle Fanning has never been someone that I look forward to seeing on the red carpet, as she is usually a disaster, but as of late she seems to be improving. I think that this purple Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2014 RTW chiffon floral gown would be perfect. In comparison to the gown I picked for Angelina this gown is much more the speed of a Disney premiere but I am also taking a guess that Elle will wear a custom Valentino or Rodarte gown for this premiere as well. I do hope she opts for a gown of color, no black or nude, so that she can stand in contrast to Angelina who will no doubt be wearing black. A pair of gold sandals and a quirky top knot would complete this fun youthful ensemble for the red carpet tonight at the El Capitan theater.
2014 Cannes Film Festival: ‘Two Days, One Night’ Wish List
The final wish I have for a 2014 Cannes Film Festival premiere is this wish that I have for Marion Cotillard today. Marion will take to the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals on Tuesday May 20th to premiere her film ‘Two Days, One Night.’ It would not be a Cannes Film Festival without an appearance from Marion but I can not say that I am particularity excited for her red carpet appearance. Her recent looks have not been up to my standard and I am hoping that Marion reminds me why I love her so much come this premiere on Tuesday. Since the first collection creative director Raf Simons showed for Christian Dior, I have been waiting to see someone snatch up this amazing creation. I think that this dove grey and raspberry embellished franken-dress from the Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture collection was created with Marion in mind to wear it on the red carpet. There is not a single woman out there, besides maybe Cate Blanchett and Diane Kruger, that I think could pull this gown off. I would do an edgy yet sleek up do, a raspberry colored lip, and silver satin Christian Dior pointed toe pumps to complete this look. A pair of Chopard diamond earrings and simple diamond bracelet would be the right amount of bling to enhance this look just a little bit more.
2014 Cannes Film Festival: ‘The Search’ Premiere Wish List
Berenice Bejo will take to the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals on Wednesday May 21st to premiere her film ‘The Search.’ Since her red carpet debut in 2011, I feel like I have said this a lot in the past few days, Berenice has been a staple in Cannes; premiering films or acting as the Mistress of Ceremonies. This year will be no different. At the Opening Ceremony of the film Elie Saab had two major moments on Paz Vega and Jane Fonda which has, I hope, just kickstarted a fabulous run for the designer during this festival. Berenice tends to pick gowns that look very sophisticated. Last year she picked a white Alexis Mabille Couture tulle ballgown that she paired with a belted blue double breasted blazer and for this year I am picking this Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture micro floral print organza ball gown that features 3/4 length sleeves and a deep v. A tight big bun hair style on top of her head, a bright pink lip, a pink Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver sandals, and of course a pair of dazzling Chopard diamond earrings will just add the perfect finishing touches to this red carpet look.
Sofia Coppola proved to me at the Opening Ceremony that even though I prayed to the fashion gods that I am most likely not going to see her step out of her comfort zone wearing an embellished Valentino black tunic and shorts. While I am still holding out hope that Sofia will rock something out of her norm I am conceding the gown wish. I picked this navy blue Mary Katrantzou sequin long sleeve trapeze dress with silver, white, red and lighter blur embellishments for Sofia to wear on the red carpet during Cannes. It is completely out of her realm of Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs labels and that is exactly what I am hoping for. She will pair this dress without a doubt her Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton clutch and a pair of all Black sleek wedges as per her norm but the dress itself is a statement in itself.
2014 Cannes Film Festival: Un Certain Regard Film Premires
The Un Certain Regard selection of the Cannes Film Festival begins today and there are three films that I am excited to see the stars of take to the red carpet. First up is ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby’ staring Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy, which will premiere on May 17th. Jessica has been a staple in Cannes since her debut in 2011. When shopping the runways for Jessica’s red carpet look I found this goldenrod Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture embroidered evening gown with a deep-v. This is a dress that when I saw it take to the runway I screamed Chastain Chastain Chastain and I will just die if she takes to the red carpet wearing it. The dress photographed very stiff on the runway but in the video moves very well. I would not pair the look with any clutch at all (per the Chastain norm), Chopard yellow diamond earrings, a pair of gold Charlotte Olympia pumps, and a pretty up-do would give Jessica a perfect look for the Cannes red carpet. Lea Seydoux will be premiering ‘Saint Laurent’ in the main competition on the same day and Eva Green is confirmed to walk the red carpet on the same night, a fabulous night ahead.
Joining Marion Cotillard and Gong Li on the red carpet on May 20th will be the cast of Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut ‘Lost River.’ Eva Mendes will make her major red carpet return with this premiere. I hope that she is able to do so wearing this pink Giambattista Valli Spring 2014 Couture gown with blue floral embellishments on the upper bodice. I saw in the background of some Met Ball pictures that someone has purchased this gown for their wardrobe and wore it for the event but they were not recognized by any of the picture agencies. I am hoping that this doesn’t mean that this gown is off the market as I think it is a perfect look for the Cannes Film Festival. An updo is a must for this look with the embellishments so close to her face. A pair of blue Jimmy Choo sandals would finish off this look perfectly for the red carpet. Her co-stars Christina Hendricks and Saorise Ronan are also confirmed to help Eva and Ryan premiere this film.
At the Closing Ceremony of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival actress now turned director Asia Argento pulled out bad ass bitch attitude on the red carpet wearing a silver slip gown and flipping off the photographers. Who knows what Asia will turn up as for the premiere of her directorial debut ‘Incompressa’ on May 22nd. When she was on the jury of the festival in 2009 Asia gave some great fave wearing some amazing looks from Armani Prive almost exclusively the entire festival. Although she has branched out wearing more designers I am hoping that Asia will return to the brand for this years festival. I think that this black silk Armani Prive Spring 2013 Couture spaghetti strap gown with red and white embellishments at the top of the bodice would be a simple yet perfect statement for Asia to make on this red carpet considering what she did last year. Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Charlotte Gainsbourg are expected on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals that night and its is also the same night as the amFAR Gala.
2014 Cannes Film Festival: ‘Maps to the Stars’ Premiere Wish List
Julianne Moore arrived in Cannes this morning ahead of attending red carpets over the course of the festival. On Monday May 19th, Julianne will be taking to the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals to premiere her film ‘Maps to the Stars’ in competition. I am super excited to see what Julianne will wear on the red carpet. With friends at designers like Givenchy, Tom Ford, Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen, and Chanel I am just waiting to see what extravagant creation that Julianne will wear. I picked this pale pink Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2014 sleeveless gown with crystal embellishments minimizing a deep plunge. I think that this pink would look stunning on Julianne. With her peachy complexion Julianne should not be able to rock this type of color but I think it looks elegant on her. I would finish this look with a gunmetal clutch (to accent the crystals on her bodice), and a pair of gunmetal heels. I would of course pull her hair up into a chic updo so that it won’t compete with the embellishments and a bright pink lip to bring a bright pop to the look.
Last year ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’ premiered at Cannes and shockingly Mia Wasikowska did not attend the the premiere with co-stars Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston. I can confirm that Mia will take to the red carpet on Monday for the premiere of ‘Maps to the Stars’ with co-stars Julianne Moore and Robert Pattinson. For this premiere I think that this nude Oscar de la Renta Fall 2014 RTW v-neck aline gown with gold floral embroidery would waft down the red carpet so elegantly on the back of Mia. One to shun the big heavy embellished gowns that most pick for this festival I am excited to see what Mia will wear but really needs to be able to hold her own against Julianne. I think that this would be a cute moment for Mia on this international red carpet. A gold clutch, a pair of gold sandals, and some amazing chandelier earrings would complete this red carpet ensemble.
Sarah Gadon attended last years Cannes Film Festival in a black and white Giambattista Valli Couture cocktail dress. I am hoping, though she is not confirmed, that Sarah will take to the Croisette to help her co-stars premiere ‘Maps to the Stars’ next Monday. Picking from Giambattista Valli yet again for Sarah’s Cannes red carpet experience I think that this ivory, cornflower blue, and black gown from the Spring 2014 Couture collection would be an amazing option This is a mini dress with a ball skirt layered over with just a slight hint of the uber mini skirt being shown. I think that this gown brings classic class with a modern sexiness which is perfect for a 27 year old actress. Finish this gown with a pair of gold sandals will let this gown do all the talking on Sarah.
2014 Cannes Film Festival: ‘Captives’ Premiere Wish List
Rosario Dawson will be in Cannes this year not as just a guest but as an actress premiering a film on the Croisette. To premiere her film ‘Captives’ I expect to see Rosario wear a Roberto Cavalli Couture custom creation, but if I had to pick a runway gown this bronze embellished snakeskin patterned gown from the Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2014 collection would be my pick. I really wish I had access to sketches from designers so that I could more accurately pick for stars on the site, but alas they are kept top secret. This long sleeved, open back gown would be perfect for a Cannes premiere if it was modified to have even more of a flowing train trailing behind Rosario. I would just finish this look with a pair of bronze sandals and a sexy yet elegant hairstyle to complete the perfect look.
Last year Mireille Enos proved that she could hold her own on the red carpet next to red carpet superstars by keeping up with Angelina Jolie on the ‘World War Z’ press tour. This year she will be joining Rosario Dawson to premiere ‘Captives on the same nigh as the gala screening of ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ with Cate Blanchett and Kristen Wiig walking the red carpet. Being a major film festival I think that it is not out of the realm of possibilities that Mireille could pick up this stunning emerald green Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture embellished satin ballgown. I love a red head in green and Mireille could rock the hell out of this gown. A glam up-do, a clutch dyed to match, as well as peep toe pumps also dyed to match, and some stunning Chopard diamond and emerald drop earrings would finish off this perfect red carpet look for the Cannes Film Festival.
As this premiere is the same night as the ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ gala premiere, and since I already posted what I want Sofia Coppola and Jeon Do-Yeon to wear on this evening it is only fitting that I produce a wish for Carole Bouquet. I think that this pale pink Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture draped chiffon gown would be a perfect choice for Carole to make. This is the soft elegant gown that I absolutely love to see on the red carpet in Cannes as it is such a light breezy red carpet with beautiful palm trees in the backdrop. A gold box clutch, a pair of gold sandals, and some simple Chopard jewels will finish off this stunning red carpet look.
2014 Cannes Film Festival: ‘Saint Laurent’ Premiere Wish List
Lea Seydoux will be in Cannes this year to premiere her Yves Saint Laurent biopic ‘Saint Laurent’ in competition on May 17th. As a face of Prada and Miu Miu there has only been one look not from the brand worn by Lea on the red carpet. I am hoping though that Lea will wear Saint Laurent for this premiere. I saw this stunning red Saint Laurent Fall 2014 RTW sequin cocktail dress and thought how it would make the perfect gown for a Cannes premiere if lengthened into a circle skirt. This would be the perfect mix of the classic and modern Saint Laurent brand and a bold statement for the Cannes red carpet instead of classic. A sleek up-do, red lips, no clutch, simple Saint Laurent ‘Janis’ sandals in black, and simple sleek diamond jewels would make this look 1,000% perfect for Cannes.
In total opposite of what I want to see Lea wear on this red carpet is the golden Alexis Mabille Spring 2014 Couture goddess draped gown that I want to see Jeon Do-Yeon. I figure that Jeon will end up being my stand out star on the 2014 Cannes Film Festival jury and I really hope that I am right. I know I have said it before but coming off stars like Kate Beckinsale, Diane Kruger, and Uma Thurman, I am weary of this years red carpets. Those three ladies all gave me looks that I put on my Best Dressed of the Year list and the likes of Nicole Kidman came very close. Well enough rant back to the clothes! I think that this golden gown would be would be pretty on Jeon with its classic silhouette and simple embellishments. A gold clutch, gold sandals, and simple jewels would all compliment this gown perfectly for this red carpet.
2014 Cannes Film Festival: ‘The Homesman’ and ‘Le Meraviglie’ Premieres Wish List
I was looking at premiere dates, as they were released just the other day, and ‘The Homesman’ and ‘Le Meraviglie’ are premiering on the same day. The first set of stars to take to the red carpet will be the cast of Tommy Lee Jones’ ‘The Homesman.’ Hilary Swank is amongst the glamorous cast of the film and will return to the croisette for the first time since 2009. I am super excited to for Hilary to take to this red carpet because she is one of my favorites to see take to the red carpet. The moment I saw this black to silver embellished ombre gown on the Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture runway livestream I yelled “HILARY SWANK NEEDS THIS GOWN,’ and the Cannes Film Festival is the perfect red carpet to make this paring since she wasn’t at the Academy Awards. A glamorous up do, a red lip, a black Edie Parker clutch, black Christian Louboutin sandals, and a dazzling pair of Chopard diamond earrings will just make this look even more perfect.
If Meryl Streep flies to Cannes it will be her first appearance at the festival in YEARS, and I mean like 15+ years. I either love or hate Meryl’s red carpet style and I am hoping that if Meryl takes to the croisette that she will deliver a stunning red carpet moment. I think that this Valentino Spring 2014 Couture long sleeve lace gown is absolutely perfect for the 64 year old actress to wear on the red carpet. I do figure that if Meryl does take to this red carpet that she will wear a custom Lanvin creation, but this Valentino is what I would pick for her from the current stock of available runway gowns. This gown doesn’t need many accessories but I would add a brown/bronze Edie Parker clutch, a pair of brown satin pumps dyed to match would make this a perfect look for the Cannes red carpet.
Model and Actress Monica Bellucci will be premiering her new film ‘La Meraviglie’ at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Most known for being a face of Dolce & Gabbana I am sure that the Italian model will select a gown from the brand. I think that this black silk and sequin Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 RTW strapless gown would be a beautiful option for Monica to make even though I am sure that she will wear a custom made creation. As long as it isn’t a mermaid bustier or mermaid lace strapless gown I think I will be okay with it but I really hope that Dolce goes all out in their creation for this festival taking inspiration for a bespoke piece from the Fall 2014 RTW.
Like I have continuously said in my posts over the next few days I am really wanting to see Sofia Coppola expand her red carpet horizons over the course of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. If the jury takes to the red carpet during this premiere I have picked this navy blue and black Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2014 Couture draped tuxedo inspired gown for Sofia to wear. This is very much in her color comfort zone but is much more formal than almost every single one of her red carpet ensembles to date, but this is Cannes where everything is bigger and better. Like with most of her looks a black Louis Vuitton clutch and simple black sandals will put the finishing touches on a simple but beautiful ensemble for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.
In 2013 Christian Dior was throwing clothing at stars of every caliber that were taking to big red carpets, which helped the brand land the Red Carpet Designer of the Year in 2013. I do not think that that momentum has slowed down any in 2014 with 23 looks already sitting in my best dressed folder. I think of all the jury members in Cannes this year that Jeon Do-Yeon is the one that is most likely to snag a Christian Dior creation for the red carpet. On Wednesday of last week Raf Simons showed the Christian Dior Resort 2014 collection at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and I think that this tie-dye inspired gown with a black skirt and white, pink, and red on the blouse is a pick that would look stunning on Jeon. A pink clutch, black sandals, a pink lip and a vintage inspired up-do would make this look perfect especially if topped off with some stunning Chopard diamonds.
2014 Cannes Film Festival: ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ Premiere Wish List
The Cannes Film Festival officially kicks off next Wednesday, and I am so excited! Next Friday is seeming like it is going to be quite the evening on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. Two major films will be screened. First is the out of competition gala premiere of ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ and the other is the in competition premiere of ‘Captives’ staring Rosario Dawson and Mireille Enos (that wish list will go live on this site next Tuesday.) What excites me most about this day is the fact that Cate Blanchett will give a me what I am sure will be my best dressed look at the festival. Being a Cannes Film Festival veteran I am excited to see what the actress will bring to the red carpet. This amazing Zac Posen Fall 2014 RTW navy blue body hugging gown accentuated with a dramatic cape. This gown combines my love of Cate and my love of Capes. I am super shocked that no one picked this gown up to wear for the 2014 ‘Charles James: Beyond Fashion’ Met Ball earlier this week. I would just add a pair of navy satin pumps and some stunning Chopard diamonds to complete this amazing red carpet ensemble.
Earlier this week I fell in love with what Kirsten Wiig wore on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Ball. It was this amazing custom back Balenciaga ensemble that paired a structured ball skirt over tailored pants. While that was a perfect Met look I am hoping that Kristen turns up the glam for the 2014 Cannes Film Festival premiere of her film ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2.’ This champagne colored Marchesa Pre-Fall 2014 embroidered bodice and layered tulle mermaid gown would look stunning on Kristen to give her the perfect look for the light style that would be perfect for the French Riviera. Her long bob should be slicked into a sleek do, a pair of gold sandals, and a gold clutch win neutral makeup and simple jewels will make this look even more perfect.
I am hoping that for the Gala premieres that Sofia Coppola will opt out of her favored short ensembles and rock some couture gowns. Having attended a few Chanel Couture fashion shows in the past I think that picking this silver Chanel Fall 2013 Couture ankle length gown would be a perfect choice for Sofia to make for this red carpet. Of everyone that has been announced to attend the festival Sofia is one of the ones I worry will bring the glamour of the red carpet down. A silver Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver sandals, a simple updo, and very simple jewels will give Sofia a stunning red carpet look, again outside of her all black comfort zone.
Elie Saab usually embraces women that are relatively unknown on the red carpet in Cannes, dressing them in his stunning couture designs. While jury member Jeon Do-Yeon isn’t a Cannes newbie by any means, she has won the Best Actress Award at the 2007 festival, she is relatively unknown in the fashion world. I am hoping that since she is on the jury that designers will throw gowns at her. I am hoping that Jeon is able to get her hands on this ethereal Elie Saab Spring 2014 Couture white gown. This gown is elegant and does white without feeling bridal to me. A matching white Edie Parker clutch, a pair of silver sandals, a diamond necklace, a glamorous updo, and a red lip will ensure that Jeon looks every bit the part of the Festival Jury Member that she is.
