2015 Peoples Choice Awards Wish List Part 2

Jennifer Lopez, nominated for Favorite Pop Artist, at next weeks Peoples Choice Awards is always one that I look forward to seeing on the red carpet. The stunning Latina works the red carpet like the true diva that she is. I pray that she brings her sparking personality to the PCA red carpet. I picked this silver all over embellished Zuhair Murad Fall 2014 Couture long sleeve silver cocktail dress with an asymetrical hem for the pop star because from the moment that I first saw the dress take to the runway back in July I have wanted to see star in it. Styled simply with a silver box clutch and a pair of silver Christian Louboutin sandals and a red lip I think we would have a more than stunning red carpet moment for Jenny from the Block.

“Scandal” star Kerry Washington has earned herself a nomination for Peoples Choice Favorite Dramatic TV Actress and she is another that I can not wait to see take to the red carpet. I love that Kerry takes fashion risks while owning absolutely everything that she puts on her body. For the Peoples Choice Awards I picked this acid yellow Peter Pilotto Spring 2015 RTW paisley cocktail dress that has sheer embroidered polyester construction with an a-line mini skirt, a high round neck, and paisley embellishments at the front. As the dress is such a bold statement I would keep the stunning minimal with just a simple pair of yellow Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals and a simple gold box clutch would finish this look off in a way that would only enhance the stunning dress. Hair pulled back into a tight bun and a nude lip would finish this look off perfectly for the PCA’s.

2015 Peoples Choice Awards Wish List Part 1

Cameron Diaz is nominated for Favorite Comedic Movie Actress at the 2015 Peoples Choice Awards which will take place at the Nokia Theater on January 7, 2015. I have never really been a fan of Cameron as I feel that the 42 year old actress is stuck in a style rut. I do not see her breaking away from this anytime soon so I picked this black Saint Laurent Spring 2015 RTW long sleeved mini which features a gathered detail on one shoulder and a bronzed belt, which is exactly something that would be in her wheelhouse right now. They say you can not teach an old dog new tricks. Finish the look with a red lip and a pair of black Christian Louboutin pumps and you have another stereotypical Cameron Diaz look or the People Choice Awards.

Now that I have passed Cameron I have to say I am less cynical about the rest of the ladies on this list. Chloe Grace Moretz is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress and I can not wait to see what the 17 year old actress will wear on the red carpet. This Valentino Spring 2015 RTW candy colored striped shift cocktail dress would be a perfect red carpet look for Chloe. The actress loves to have some fun with her dressing and this is an event where she is able to be cute and have fun. A pair of gold sandals, a pink clutch, and a pink lip would finish this look off perfectly for Chloe.

I am praying that we will see a lot of Emma Stone on the red carpets in the upcoming year. I am hoping that her red carpet campaign will begin at the Peoples Choice Awards next Wednesday where she is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress, Favorite Movie Duo, and Favorite Movie Actress. The PCA’s are not really an event that comes to mind when I think of couture, but I think that this Armani Prive Fall 2014 Couture red embellished bustier and black silk short ensemble is a perfect look for Emma to wear for this occasion. She would be wearing couture without looking overdressed. A pair of black Christian Louboutin Sandals and a red satin box clutch would finish this look off in an effortless way to ensure that Emma looks amazing and event appropriate.

Favorite Actress in a New TV Series (Gotham) nominee Jada Pinkett Smith is one that I always look forward to seeing on the red carpet. The 43 year old actress defies aging always looking sexy and full of youth. I am excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet come the Peoples Choice Awards next week. I think that this white Versus Versace Spring 2015 RTW tuxedo inspired cocktail dress designed by Anthony Vaccarello which features a black print on one half is the perfect option for Jada to show her sexy side which goes with her “Gotham” character Fish Mooney. I would keep the runways accessories and add a gold clutch to ensure that Jada gives us sexy to the n-th degree.

 

Jennifer Lawrence falters between a total wow and leading the worst dressed list. I am hoping that at the 2015 Peoples Choice Awards next week that the actress, nominated for Favorite Movie Actress and Favorite Action Movie Actress, will be a WOW. During her “Mockingjay” promo tour some of my favorite non-Dior looks that JLaw showed off were from Mugler designed by David Koma so it was really a no brainier that when I saw this Mugler Spring 2015 RTW ensemble that it would be perfect for JLaw at the PCA’s. The ensemble consists of an off-white draped satin blouse and a metallic silver mini skirt. I think that this sporty, modern, and sexy ensemble is exactly what Jennifer needs to get her 2015 off to the right start, we all remember the Dior “Little Mermaid” inspired bed sheet that she started the year off with at the Globes this year and things did not get that much better. Finish the look off with a pair of statement Christian Louboutin sandals, a red lip, and a wavy bob and Jennifer will for sure get that perfect red carpet ensemble.

2015 Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala

The unofficial kickoff of the 2015 Awards Season is the Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala on January 3, 2015. Not actually honoring any of the films competing in the film festival the awards gala honors some of the best performances and films that came out of 2014. Julianne Moore, the Golden Globe and Oscar hopeful for “Still Alice,” will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award. Julianne always brings a WOW factor to the red carpet, usually choosing avant garde options for her appearances. I am choosing this Nina Ricci Spring 2015 RTW natural embroidered laser cut sleeveless beaded radzimir gown that features a high convex neckline, flat over-the-shoulder straps and a tonal sheer georgette draped skirt with a stepped hem. This is a wow moment and I think that the black would look anything but basic on Julianne. A pair of black sandals, an Edie Parker “Fiona” faceted clutch in emerald with black details, a pair of emerald cluster Bulgari earrings would be the perfect accessories for this ensemble. Finished off with Julianne’s sleek red locks in a high pony tail and a red lip will finish off this look perfectly for the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala.

Keira Knightley has been rocking the red carpet hiding her baby bump the past few months. With the cast of her film “The Imitation Game” receiving the Ensemble Performance Award, it will be interesting to see what Keira will show up on the red carpet wearing.  I think that Keira will continue to conceal her burgeoning bump until at least the Golden Globe Awards the following weekend. I would love to see Keira wear this stunning Delpozo Spring 2015 RTW pale pink silk twill tea length cocktail dress that features a high round neck, exaggerated rosettes with sequin embellishments at the bodice, and a sheer tonal tea-length skirt. The pale pink color is one that Keira always looks so elegant and ethereal wearing and this ethereal avant garde design is perfect for this occasion. Finish the look with a pair of gold sandals a simple updo and a pink lip and Keira will have a perfect red carpet ensemble on her hands for the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala.

Reese Witherspoon’s campaign for an Academy Award begins January 3, 2015 at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala, where the stunning blonde is going to be honored with the Chairman’s Award for her film “Wild.” Reese does classic elegance with a hint of modern woman like no other. As one of the few that I think would bust out some couture for this event I would love to see Reese wear this ruby red Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture strapless embellished silk flared cocktail dress for the event. This dress is classic and elegant with a hint of sultry which just makes for a perfect combination for the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. A pair of dyed to match Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals and a simple pair of diamond and ruby cluster earrings would be the perfect accessories to add, along with a red lip, to complete this ensemble.

The Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala will most likely be the first time that we will see Rosamund Pike on the red carpet after the birth of her baby boy earlier this month. The British star will have had a month to get herself red carpet ready in time to receive the Breakthrough Performance Award at the awards gala. I picked this ivory J. Mendel Spring 2015 organza jacquard v-neck gown because of the cross-draped silk chiffon bodice with butterfly sleeves as if she is not ready to completely showcase her body in a form fitting dress this can hide some of her possible problem areas. An ivory Edie Parker clutch and a pair of gold sandals will ensure that all eyes are on Rosamund who will no doubt have that new mommy glow about her already.

New Years Rocking Eve Wish List

Ladies and Gentlemen, 2015 is literally three days away now. On Wednesday night Ryan Seacrest will hold down the fort in New York City while Fergie will be hosting the Hollywood party for “Dick Clark’s New Years Rocking Eve.” Fergie always shuts the television screens down as she rocks stunning ensembles throughout the night. I picked three looks that I would love to see Fergie-ferg wear during her hostess duties. Up first is this stunning one shoulder Georges Chakra Spring 2015 RTW blueish greenish gown with embellishments and a slit to there. This gown is sexy and a pop of color that we don’t often see on New Years Eve. In a sea of black, silver, and gold this gown will stand out. Up next is a Mugler Spring 2015 RTW ensemble which  consists of a silk crop top and fitted skirt with another slit to there. NYE is the perfect night to mix sexy and glamour which is exactly what this ensemble brings. Finally, we have a stunning all over embellished Zuhair Murad Fall 2014 Couture long sleeved cocktail dress with an asymmetrical hem. This is a wow moment and I am really praying that this will be one of the dresses that Fergie gets her hands on for New Years.

Taylor Swift is the headline performer for “Dick Clark’s New Years Rocking Eve” in New York City. I am expecting her to sing hit songs like “Blank Space,” “Style,” and “Shake it Off” and praying that the telecast opens with Taylor performing “Welcome to New York.” I think that this would make for a perfect set list for New Years Eve. With her reinvention of her sound there has also been a reinvention of Taylor’s red carpet looks and I am excited to see what she will spend new years eve in. I would love to see her wear this Antonio Berardi Spring 2015 RTW suit ensemble. The light pink and red duchess silk blazer and pants paired with white, red, and black crossover color blocked asymmetric crop top ensemble is a sleek an sexy look for Taylor. The pants will have to sit at her natural waist as Taylor does not like to show her belly button. A pair of red pumps, a red lip, and sleek locks will finish off this look perfectly for “New Years Rocking Eve.”

Thanks to everyone for following for the past 365 days! I am going to take a few days off now and enjoy the holidays with my family. Sunday I will be back starting with my wishes for “New Years Rocking Eve with Ryan Seacrest” and then diving right into Awards Season 2015. 2014 End of the Year Awards: Best Dressed Man

Two years in a row now Eddie Redmayne has rocked the red carpets showing men that dressing formally doesn’t always have to be black and white. Relationships with Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, and Burberry all make for amazing red carpet moments. When he stepped out for the “The Theory of Everything” premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in a jade green Burberry Prorsum double breasted suit I bowed. He is officially the King of the Red Carpet. Anyone else think that with a stellar awards season run that Eddie could possibly vie for Red Carpet Diva of 2015 against the likes of Cate Blanchett, Diane Kruger, and Keira Knightley?

 

2014 End of the Year Awards: Worst Looks of the Year

With all the amazing looks this year there were still A LOT of dud looks. Be they on the sidewalk, at the airport, awards shows, film festivals, premieres, or front rows some of the biggest names in fashion have landed themselves on my Worst Looks of the Year list? Who do you agree with? Anyone you don’t? Anyone you think should be on the list that isn’t? Think anyone just had an off day and might be on the Best Dressed of the Year list too?

 

 

 

 

2014 End of the Year Awards: Red Carpet Brand of the Year

The Red Carpet Designer of 2012 and the Couturier of 2011 was overtaken by Christian Dior in 2013 but in 2014, Elie Saab made his way back to the top spot as the 2014 Red Carpet Designer of the Year. No brand was worn successfully more than Elie Saab this year. He has a successful pattern of creating looks that are designed with the red carpet in mind and not necessarily the runway. With so many amazing collections presented in recent years stars are venturing into the designers archive to pick their winning moments. We are bound to see a plethora of his designs during awards season and the Cannes Film Festival…..the real question is on who?

 

 

2014 End of the Year Awards: Couturier of the Year

Of all of the couture fashion houses there was not one that was outdone by Atelier Versace on the red carpets this year. Long time friend of Versace Angelina Jolie worked the houses looks throughout her “Maleficent” promo tour, her wedding, and for a few appearances promoting her film “Unbroken.” Other crazy notable looks were the bright yellow gown Emma Stone wore for the “Spider-Man 2” London Premiere, Hilary Swank in a one shoulder white gown at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of “The Homesman,” and Kate Hudson in her silver caped creation at the Academy Awards. I am sure that we will keep seeing a lot of Atelier Versace coming up next year.

 

2014 End of the Year Awards: Ones to Watch in 2015

My One to Watch last year, Lupita Nyong’o, did not disappoint so I am hoping that the same will be come the next year with the four ladies that I have chosen this year. Usually I try to cut it down to one but each of these ladies that are featured have me excited for the year to come for different reasons. Amal Clooney showcased her sartorial style during her wedding weekend festivities in Venice, Italy earlier this year. I am excited to see what the new Mrs. George Clooney will wear as a plus one to major events that her hubby may attend in the coming year. Up next is supermodel turned actress Cara Delevinge. The 22 year old British superstar has five movies coming out in the next year which just helps cement her “IT” girl status even more. What I love so much about Cara is that she knows how to balance glamorous red carpet dressing with her rocker edgy personality. A repeat appearance on this list is Felicity Jones. I put her on this list back when this blog first started and we really did not see her live up to that title until this year. With an awards season run, most likely ultimately ending with an Academy Award nomination, as well as two films premiering in 2015 I will be extremely excited to see if Felicity gives me the red carpet run that I have been waiting for. Last but not least we have Riley Keough. Three films, including the much anticipated “Mad Max: Fury Road” adaptation, being released in 2015. I am excited to see what the actress, who this year shunned the gown for events like the Met Ball and Cannes Film Festival, will wear for her major premieres.
