We are about to embark on the summer season for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. The bulk of the appearances Princess Kate makes over the year are during the summer months. One event I would love to see Cathy Cambridge attending is one of the Queen’s Garden Parties, which will take place on May 10, 19, and 24. Usually we see Catherine wearing jacket dresses and coat suits, but for this party I would like to see her wear something a little more modern (yet still very event appropriate.) I think that this peachy pink Roland Mouret Spring 2016 RTW a-line dress which featured flutter cap sleeves, blue detailing at the neck, and a halter would look absolutely beautiful on the Duchess. With such an amazing host of British brands that show at fashion weeks around the world , it makes me sad that Catherine doesn’t wear more of these gorgeous runway looks. This is a perfect dress for a summer event and paired with a pair of nude pumps and a bold blue fascinator Catherine would look lovely out in the garden.
Aishwarya Rai attended a press conference to celebrate her 15 years representing L’Oreal Paris at the Cannes Film Festival as she launches L’Oreal Paris’s Infallible Cannes collection 2016 in Mumbai yesterday. I have been extremely excited for Cannes and this Azzi & Osta strapless, sculpted gown on Aishwarya just makes me even more excited. Aishwarya always brings dramatic glamour to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet and this is just another A+ look. While I would have probably had Aishwarya style her hair into a chic updo, I think that the glamorous, glossy waves were gorgeous. Perfect make up and a diva pose rounded out this gorgeous red carpet moment.
The 2016 Cannes Film Festival will run from May 11, 2016 to May 22, 2016, and Aishwarya will represent L’Oreal on May 12, 2016 and May 14, 2016.
With the 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner just over 24 hours away I’m bringing you my last ditch wish list. With so many big events coming up I have been a little burnt out and needed a few days to reasses everything and prep for covering the Met Gala red carpet, Cannes Film Festival wishes, and covering the Cannes Film Festival red carpets. I will be tweeting the red carpet for the WHCD tomorrow night. One of the stars I am very excited to see tomorrow is the gorgeous Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Gugu will be attending the WHCD as a guest of Bloomberg and I have read is incredibly excited. For the carpet I would love to see Gugu take to the carpet in this white Brandon Maxwell Fall 2016 RTW crepe silk, v-neck column gown which features sculptural detailing on the waist. This gown is classic and modern at the same time, with a shilouette perfect for the WHCD red carpet. A chic curly afro, bold red lip, white Edie Parker ‘Jean’ cluster stars acrylic clutch, a pair of Jimmy Choo ‘Fancie’ silver glitter fabric and mirror leather platform sandals, and a pair of statement Cartier emerald and diamond swirl cluster earrings will finish this look perfectly, ensuring that Gugu is one of the best of the night at the WHCD.Jaimie Alexander was a breakout star last year when she showed up on the Emmy Awards red carpet in a stunning custom Armani Prive gown in the lead up to the premiere of her hit NBC show Blindspot. This year I have been less than impressed with what she has offered. I am hoping that as a guest of NBC tomorrow night that Jaimie will deliver something full glamour again. I think that this yellow Vionnet Fall 2016 RTW draped gown which features a black asymmetrical waist would put Jaimie back on my radar. With some real unknowns under hear belt I think that going to Vionnet is a great choice to get the fashion community interested in her style again. I would add a sleek pulled back look for her hair, lined eye, nude lip, a pair of black sandals, and a black, white, and gold striped Valentino enamel clutch to ensure that this is a take notice look for Jaimie. Kerry Washington has become a bit of a White House Correspondents Dinner regular since she is the star of the hit political drama series Scandal, and another plus is she just stared in the HBO movie Confirmation (which also had political ties.) Kerry is always one that I get excited to see on the red carpet and tomorrow I would love to see Kerry show up on the WHCD red carpet wearing a modified version of this Jason Wu Fall 2016 RTW strapless wool dress which features feather embellishments. I would love to see this dress lengthened into a floor length gown and a beaded waistband added to have a gorgeous, and event appropriate gown for Kerry. A grey Jimmy Choo ‘Ruby’ lamé glitter clutch, a pair of matching grey Jimmy Choo ‘Manda’ lamé glitter pumps with a broach detail, red lip, chic old Hollywood waves, and a pair of diamond drop earrings would really show Kerry’s red carpet chops. This might be the last White House Correspondents Dinner for former Downton Abby starlet Michelle Dockery. Over the last year we have seen Michelle opt out of attending a lot of events, which made me a little surprised that she was attending tomorrow nights WHCD. This icy blue Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2016 gown which features a column silhouette with a deep v-neckline, allover beaded embellishment, and illusion detailing would look so gorgeous on Michelle, giving her a gorgeous moment for her red carpet return. Rounding the look out with a blue crystal grid Elie Saab clutch, a pair of icy blue and gold Christian Louboutin ‘Slikova’ sandals, a light pink lip, and her signature sleek bob will really add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Rounding out all my White House Correspondents Dinner red carpet wishes is Rosario Dawson. I decided to pick something basic, but incredibly gorgeous, for Rosario to wear on the WHCD red carpet. This strapless Prabal Gurung Fall 2016 RTW chiffon and sequin flowing gown would look gorgeous on Rosario, if she decides to take to the red carpet with full diva attitude. Where I think that this gown really comes alive when it is made into a statement. The styling would allow for that. Adding a black Kotur ‘Morley Crystals’ clutch, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Senora’ peep toe strappy sandals, a statement diamond necklace, chic updo, and a red lip would really ensure that this is a gorgeous red carpet moment for Rosario.
I’m at the point where I am going to be posting my last wishes for First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama. Come January I will be very sad because it doesn’t matter who wins the 2016 presidential election I won’t have the fashion factor that Michelle has brought to the White House. I hope that Michelle really brings the fashion factor as the attends her final big events as the First Lady. For the White House Correspondents Dinner the President and First Lady are ushered in a back door at the Washington Hilton and are only seen from the waist up. With that in mind I try to pick gowns that have a lot of visual detail on the top half. I picked this absolutely gorgeous Naeem Khan Spring 2016 RTW strapless gown which features a modified a-line silhouette with allover threadwork embroidery in a floral motif. The multicolored floral embroidery would really give Michelle that visual impact, allowing her to have a best dressed worthy look even though we may only see it from the waist up. Michelle could show up wearing a pair of Nike sneakers under her gown and we would never know, though I wouldn’t imagine her doing that. A pair of drop earrings, black pumps, a pink lip, & curly bob would be what I would see Michelle styling this look with. Emily Ratajkowski delivers cool, sexy looks on the red carpet and I am intrigued to see what she will bring to the red carpet tomorrow night at the Washington Hilton for the White House Correspondents Dinner. I expect that Emily will radiate effortless sensuality for the red carpet int he most glamorous way. I almost want to see Emily wearing a custom gown from someone like Alexander Wang or Altuzarra, but nothing from the runways screamed Emily to me when I was looking through the collections for a perfect look for her. I did however see this peachy, gold Edun Fall 2016 RTW one shoulder draped gown which features velvet runes laid all over. I think that this gown is that relaxed sexy that Emily knows how to work on the red carpet so well. Sexy waves, smokey eyes, a gold box clutch, and gold sandals would leave Emily just oozing sensual glamour on the WHCD red carpet. The White House Correspondents Dinner will be the first time that we will see Jada Pinkett Smith take to a red carpet since she skipped the 2016 Academy Awards in boycott of the lack of diversity. I am usually a fan of what Jada wears on the red carpet since she usually delivers very glamorous red carpet looks. On the WHCD dinner red carpet we don’t usually see a whole lot of non-US based designers, but I decided to go there with Jada. I usually love Jada in Atelier Versace and this mauve draped, cutout gown from the Fall 2015 Couture collection is something that I have been really wanting to see on the red carpet, so I am praying that someone will give it a red carpet moment. I think that Jada would look uber glamorous in this creation as it glides down the red carpet. Finish with a chic updo, a light kohl rimmed eye, dyed to match Versace clutch, & a pair of gold sandals to finish this look perfectly for Jada. Karlie Kloss has been up and down with her red carpet looks. Not usually one to show up on the red carpet wearing big, dramatic gowns I tend to love Karlie’s minimalistic red carpet looks. I would really love to see the model take to the red carpet tomorrow wearing this deep purple Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2016 RTW double charmuse draped gown which features a sheath silhouette and an asymmetrical draped neckline. This draped slip style gown is something that I can see Karlie chopping a train off of but I think the drama that the train brings is something that is needed. Rounding out with a dark grey clutch, grey Jimmy Choo sandals, chic waves, and a red lip would ensure that Karlie brings some gorgeous model-istic glamour to the WHCD red carpet. Lucy Liu is rumored to be attending the the White House Correspondents Dinner tomorrow night but I don’t know which news outlet has given her a coveted seat the the event. I hope that she will be on the red carpet as she almost always delivers gives me the most amazing red carpet moments. It is because of her red carpet repertoire that I decided to allow Lucy to wear this gorgeous gold Marchesa Pre-Fall 2016 gown rendered in lace and features a column silhouette with a scalloped v-neckline and bugle beaded fringe detailing. This is one of my favorite gowns from all of Pre-Fall 2016 and I am patiently awaiting the moment that one of the ladies I hold in high regard will give this a major moment. I am hoping that time comes soon as the next season (Resort 2017) is just around the corner. I would keep the gold, laser cut metal clutch the at the gown was paired with in the lookbook and add a pair of gold sandals, chic updo, and a smoky eye to really drive home this red carpet moment with epic potentail.
I love covering international red carpets because we find some crazy god red carpet looks. The Malaga Film Festival is taking place in Spain right now and when I was flipping though yesterday’s red carpets and I came across this stunning Andrew Gn Spring 2016 RTW look on the beautiful Spanish actress Juana Acosta my jaw dropped. I love some good sequin appliques and a cape and this gown meshes those together quite well. Amy Poehler wore a similar look to the 2016 Academy Awards but let the drama of this look overtake her, Juana made this gown work for her and not the other way. Everything from her dark ruby Edie Parker clutch and tight bun to her dark red lip really made this a look that I fell in love with. This is a look that I will remember come time to create my Best Dressed of the Year list. What do you think? Is this Andrew Gn look on Juana Best Dressed of the Year worthy?
It has finally come, my final red carpet wish list for the 2016 Met Gala. We are now less than a week out from the actual red carpet at the Met and now I am starting to really get excited. Model turned actress Abbey Lee has been making rounds giving moody looks. I am betting Abbey will be on the Met Gala red carpet because of her relationship as one of the top models with Vogue and the events designer co-chairs. If she does I would love to see Abby give us modern Victorian realness with this black, long sleeved Balmain Fall 2016 RTW crystal and fringe embellished evening gown. This gown will need someone with model stature, and who better to give that than a former model. I think that the moody nature of this gown would fit right in with Abbey’s red carpet style. Finish with a sleek pony, red lip, black box clutch, and black sandals and Abbey will for sure be one to take notice of. Gisele Bundchen skipped last year Met Gala in favor of attending Chanel’s Cruise 2016 show, which was shown in Seoul, South Korea on the same day. I am hoping that the stunning supermodel (and hubby Tom Brady) will be back on the Met red carpet his year. It has been a while since Gisele really gave me a look that is very memorable (her pink Versace from the 2008 “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy”) and I am hoping for something uber glam this year. I think that this black Stephane Rolland fitted gown which features a deep plunging neckline, crystal cuff, and pleated trumpet hem would be one of those beautiful moments of the night. This might be just another black gown but the details make it far from basic. Rounding out with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Flo’ peep toe pumps, black box clutch, diamond cluster earrings, a chic bun, & red lip would make this look come across as effortless. Lily Rose-Depp has a movie premiering at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival so I am betting she will make her Met Gala debut ahead of that appearance. Lily made her first red carpet appearance last year at the NYC presentation of the Chanel Pre-Fall 2015 collection and of course was decked out in Chanel couture. I would figure that if Lily takes to the Met Gala she will wear Chanel. I went to the archive and decided to pick this blue fully embellished halter gown from the Chanel Spring 2012 Couture collection for Lily. This is one of the looks that when I look at the archives I sit there and scratch my head as I wonder how it never got a red carpet moment when it was the new thing. Thankfully Karl likes to pull things out of the archive for the Met and I think that Lily would surely slay wearing this gown. This is the type of couture gown that I would love to see a 16 year old wearing on the red carpet, and Lily would do so with such elegance that I will finally be able to put this runway look to rest. Finish with the same pumps as the runway and add some simple Chanel fine jewelry to really give Lily the perfect look for her first Met Gala red carpet.I basically scrolled right past Rachel Weisz as I was looking at pictures from the Met Gala red carpet last year on Getty Images. Her silver lace Chanel Couture tea length gown was pretty but totally lost on amongst all the gorgeous statement gowns on the carpet. For this years red carpet I would love to see this white Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture draped gown with pink floral details on a halter neckline. This dress on the runway had draped shoulder sleeves, but for Rachel I think that she should opt to not put her arms through the sleeves leaving them bare while still having the draped detail. A light pink clutch, silver sandals, dainty diamond drop earrings, chic updo, and a pink lip would perfectly round out this look for Rachel, ensuring she won’t fade into the background. And last but not least my final wish for the 2016 Met Gala is upon us. It is for the stunning Game of Thrones starlet Sophie Turner. Last year was Sophie’s first Met where she was a guest of Burberry and she has only gotten better since then. I would stick to the silver tones that Sophie wore last year, also sticking with a British label, with picking this romantic velvet lily Erdem Fall 2016 RTW flutter sleeve gown. This gown would look so chic on Sophie, a true vintage inspired moment. Taking that vintage inspired idea and running with it I would style this look with old Hollywood waves, a red lip, Cartier diamond & emerald drop earrings, and a pair of black sandals to really ensure that Sophie continues to showcase her gorgeous red carpet style.
I really hope you enjoyed all my Met Gala wishes. I am going to be taking the next 2 days off but will be back posting wishes for more events on Friday. I will also be tweeting all the looks from the Met Gala red carpet in real time. The 2016 Met Gala, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” is Monday May 2, 2016.
After this post there is only 1 more of my wish lists for the 2016 Met Gala red carpet. Emma Stone usually kills the red carpet when she steps out and I am really praying that my favorite funny lady fashionista is out on the red carpet at the Met. Emma was always a lovely in Lanvin back when Alber Elbaz was the creative director and I am betting that their PR team will be vying to keep hold of her. For the Met I bet that we will see whomever Lanvin brings as a guest of the Met Gala will wear a custom look from new creative director Bouchra Jarrar, since she did not preside over the un-well recepted Fall 2016 RTW collection. I was among the minority of actually liking the Lanvin Fall 2016 RTW collection and I would love to see Emma represent the brand this year wearing this one tone green, one shoulder, ruffled cocktail dress. This dress takes all the volume and ruffles of the 80’s and delivers it in such a chic manner that I believe that it would be such a gorgeous moment. A pair of white to gold Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ ombre glitter pointed toe pumps, vintage Van Cleef & Arpels diamond cluster earrings, chic wavy bob, and a red lip would really round this perfect red carpet look for Emma. There is one gown that I am really hopping will be on the Met Gala red carpet and that is this black Moschino Fall 2016 RTW ‘burnt’ hemp gown covered with a giant crystal chandelier. This gown is over the top and ridiculous so the Met Gala is the only place that it could really work. The fabulous model Joan Smalls is one of the people that I could picture wearing this absolutely amazing look on the red carpet. This chandelier will take a person with a lot of charisma and a whole lot of diva attitude and Joan definitely has it. A pair of black Christian Louboutin crystal and spike embellished pointed toe pumps, a pair of Chopard diamond circle cluster earrings, a sleek updo, and bold red lip would really ensure that Joan gives this gown the red carpet moment it deserves. Karolina Kurkova used to be one of the models that I would most love to see on the red carpet but recently she has been rather boring. Usually Karolina switches out short looks for long looks every other year, and last year Karolina wore a short Tommy Hilfiger dress, but the look that I was most drawn to on her for this red carpet is another short dress. This dark steel blue Reem Acra Fall 2016 RTW bead and fringe embellished midi-dress would absolutely gorgeous on the former Victoria’s Secret model. The sheer embellished midi dress would be a perfect statement on this Met Gala red carpet because of all of the gorgeous detailing. Rounding this look with a pair of anthracite grey Jimmy Choo ‘Manda’ lamé glitter pumps with crystal broach detail, vintage inspired updo, red lips, and a pair of Harry Winston diamond vine cluster earrings would put Karolina back in my good graces. Lizzy Caplan has been all about wearing up and coming labels on the red carpet. For the Met Gala on Monday I would really love to see Lizzy take the risk and wear one of the big up and coming labels. Rosie Assoulin has developed quite the fashionista following being a favorite of ModaOperandi founder Lauren Santo Domingo and fashionista’s Lily Aldridge, Zendaya, Emilia Clarke, and Karlie Kloss. I think that Rosie should should add Lizzy to her list of celebrity fans with this multicolored Rose Assoulin Fall 2016 RTW dress features a high neck with a fitted bodice, and a layered A-line, tea length skirt. Some might not deem this look worthy enough for the Met Gala red carpet I like that it is out of the norm, but also so gorgeously detailed (in the most minimal of ways.) Despite the dress being such a statement I still decided to add a pair of statement shoes with gold Gianvito Rossi ‘Queen’ Indian headdress inspired sandals, a chic updo, red lip, and a navy Rauwolf emerald gem clutch to really finish this look and make it Met Gala red carpet worthy ensemble. French actress Marion Cotillard is usually a Met Gala regular. I was thinking about it and I don’t get why Marion was quickly invited to the Met Gala, but Lea Seydoux hasn’t. What’s that all about? Anyway thinking about what Marion will wear on the red carpet is where we are now. I would imagine that Marion will take to the red carpet in a custom gown by whomever is the new creative director at Dior, but since I have no idea who that is I went to the latest couture collection to pick a look for her to wear. I went with this ivory fitted cocktail dress from the Christian Dior Spring 2016 Couture collection which features a ruffled neck, cornflower blue long sleeves with floral beading, and an asymmetrical neckline. Modifications to this dress to really make it Met Gala worthy would be lengthening the skirt to the floor and adding a dramatic beaded tulle train. Finishing with a crinkled gold Dior clutch, a pair of matching crinkled gold Christian Dior lamé calfskin pumps, chic low bun hairstyle, and a pink lip would really ensure that Marion has a beautiful moment ascending the steps into the Met Gala. Rita Ora always knows how to bring drama to the red carpet, but so far this year she has been relatively absent on the red carpets. I am hoping that Rita will come out of whatever rock she has been hiding under to bring some of her signature dramatic glamour to the Met red carpet. I would really love to see Rita bring drama to the red carpet via this absolutely stunning red Marchesa Fall 2016 RTW ombre tulle ball gown which features a halter neck with floral applique, a fitted waist, and a tiered full skirt. This gown is something that is very typical for Rita and as they say “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Adding a very sleek and elegant hairstyle, her signature red lip, and a pair of red Christian Louboutin ‘Colibretta’ platform sandals would really let the gown do the talking with this look.
The 2016 Met Gala, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” is Monday May 2, 2016.
The 2016 Met Gala is now less than a week away, only tonight’s Time 100 Gala and the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday stand between us and the most glamorous night in New York. As you might know that today is the last day of my red carpet wishes for the 2016 Met Gala red carpet. I’m uber excited for this years red carpet because I honestly don’t know what to expect with a theme of “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” I think we will be seeing a lot of very detailed looks and maybe some that incorporate details using 3-D printing. At last years gala Chloe Grace Moretz wore a Coach silk printed dress, which really had no business being on the Met red carpet, and I basically forgot she was there. I figure that Chloe will be one of the ladies on the carpet next Monday representing Chanel, whose creative director Karl Lagerfeld is one of this year’s event co-chair’s. I would pick this gold and ivory Chanel Fall 2016 RTW tea length gown which features lace and pearl details for Chloe just because of all of the details that this look incorporates, really embracing the theme of couture. I have been surprised by the fact that one of my red carpet goddesses, Jessica Chastain, has failed to deliver a solid red carpet win this year. I am really hoping that Jessica steps out on the Met Gala red carpet and really gives me a a major moment to ogle over on the red carpet. I think that this purple and gold Ralph Lauren Fall 2016 RTW strapless brocade ballgown would give me that jaw dropping moment on Jessica. This gown is one that I am really hoping we see on the Met red carpet as the threadwork on the fabric is just so gorgeous that who could deny it a moment on fashion’s biggest night? I think that this gown will work perfectly with Jessica’s aversion to carrying a clutch as it it such a statement that she would need minimal accessories to really ensure that this is a perfect look. All I would add to this look is a pair of simple gold metallic leather sandals, old Hollywood waves, and classic beauty to really let this gown do all the talking. After really blowing up with the promo tour for Spectre and signing a contract with Louis Vuitton I think we will finally see the gorgeous French actress Lea Seydoux on the Met Gala red carpet. So far we have only seen one look from Lea and Louis, and it didn’t really live up to er partnership with Prada. I am hoping that she can work the magic Alicia Vikander usually works on Vuitton red carpet looks and really start delivering some major red carpet moments. With there being 0 looks from any of the current LV collections that I really want to see on the red carpet I can most say that I want Lea to wear a custom gown by creative director, and event co-chair, Nicolas Ghesquière. I think that this white silk Louis Vuitton Fall 2016 RTW with a black leather harness bodice would be gorgeous lengthened to a full length gown. I am hoping she has a major Vuitton moment at the Met so that Cannes is not wall to wall Louis Vuitton. Finish the look with an exceptional black Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Malle’ crocodile case clutch, a pair of black sandals, Louis Vuitton high jewelry including an ‘Acte V Metamorphosis’ platinum set diamond pendant earrings and an ‘Acte V Apotheosis’ white gold, 16.51-carats tsavorite grenat, onyx, diamonds cuff bracelet would really ensure that Alicia slays the Met Gala red carpet.Rihanna is probably one of the ones I am most excited, and hopeful, to see on the Met Gala red carpet. Rihanna has been slaying with her short bob recently and I cant wait to see what she will bring to the red carpet. Will she design herself under her Fenty x Puma label? She has worn a lot of Marc Jacobs recently. I decided to go with a how that I pictured Rihanna wearing the moment I saw it on the runway. This emerald green Balmain Pre-Fall 2016 long sleeved velvet gown which features tassel and crystal detailing is a work of art and it would take a very specific type of woman to make this gown work off the runway and Rihanna has that edgy glam diva-tude to really make this gown come to life on the red carpet. I think on Rihanna this would come across as modern Victorian queen while on most it would look like they draped themselves in the curtains. With the look being so detailed keeping the styling simple with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Benedetta’ strappy sandals, dark lip, and a sleek bob would really ensure that Rihanna has a killer Met Gala moment. Sarah Jessica Parker’s custom H&M look with a flaming headdress from last year will do down as one of the most memorable looks (along with Rihanna’s Guo Pei coat) on the Met Gala ever. I went back and forth with a host of looks for SJP to wear for this year to redeem herself from the fiery (pun intended) jokes that she wast the put of last year. Ultimately I went with this portrait neck Marc Jacobs Fall 2016 RTW embroidered and embellished ballgown. I have been underwhelmed by a lot of Sarah’s recent red carpet looks and I want her to really bring it next Monday to prove to me that she still has it and the days of her major red carpet moments aren’t in the past. This Marc Jacobs gown would do just that. I had a hard time trying to pick the perfect person to wear this collection and when it clocked with this and Sarah I knew it would be a killer red carpet moment. A very chic updo (Sarah loves to add hair and I say something big and elegant would be perfect with this gown,) a smokey eye, and a pair of silver SJP Collection ‘Pandemonium’ crystal embellished sandals would be the perfect touches to add to this look to ensure that Sarah redeems herself on the Met Gala steps and continues to solidify her fashionista status.Zendaya is always one of my favorites on the red carpet. I am expecting that Zendaya will deliver a killer red carpet look at the Met Gala, she is one of the few who I would really like to see wear something short. Last year Zendaya rocked a high/low custom Fausto Puglisi gown and it was beautiful. This white Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2016 RTW iridescent princess dress which features puffy sleeves and a full skirt. I would keep the runway’s embellished collar necklace and the embellished belt as they really make this look something special. Adding romantic pulled back waves, a bright pink lip, and a pair of Dolce & Gabbana gold embellished brocade mary-jane pumps would just really drive home the fairy tale vibe off this looks.
The 2016 Met Gala, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” is Monday May 2, 2016.
Here we are at the end of another full day of Met Gala wishes, only one more day and you will have all my picks for those I would like to see ascend the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Model and actress Courtney Eaton took to the Met Gala red carpet as a guest of Dolce & Gabbana, back before I really knew who she was. She subsequently showed up on red carpets wearing custom Michael Kors, Chanel Couture, and Balmain. The girl is very lucky, and very gorgeous. I can picture Courtney being invited back to the Met this year as she had some steam coming into 2016. I would love to see Courtney give us something very modern in the red carpet, and I think that this orange, black, and gold Chanel Fall 2015 Couture strapless, fully beaded tea length gown is that moment that I hope that she will bring. I was surprised that this look made it through last fall’s festival season and through awards season without being donned by a single starlet, but I think that Courtney could really make this come to life on the Met steps. It may not be the big grand ball gown or dramatic train that I usually talk about wanting to see on the Met red carpet but it would be beautiful none the less. A gold box clutch, a pair of gold sandals, a sleek updo, and natural makeup would perfectly round out this red carpet ensemble. Julianna Margulies showed up on the SAG Awards red carpet in a custom Antonio Berardi gown and was among my favorites from the event. I would really love to see Julianna take to the red carpet at this year Met Gala despite not having climbed those steps since the “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” gala back in 2011. For all of her Met Gala appearances in the past Julianna took to the red carpet wearing custom creations by her friend Narciso Rodriguez. I am changing that up for this year. I would love to see Julianna take to the Met Gala red carpet wearing a custom gown version of this black Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2016 Alta Moda sleeveless midi dress which features some glamorous silver beaded details on the shoulder and waist. I think that this is exactly what I would love to see Julianna wearing on the Met red carpet. I think that lengthening this gown and adding a dramatic train to it would really ensure that Julianna has a gorgeous look to work with on the Met red carpet. Adding a black small frame Dolce & Gabbana sequined clutch, a pair of black Dolce & Gabbana crystal buckle sandals, glamorous updo, red lip, and diamond cluster earrings would just drive home the glamour of this look. I was really surprised that Lily James was not on the red carpet at last year as she really blew up at the start of the year. Earlier this year Lily reemerged to promote her latest film Pride, Prejudice, + Zombies and I am hoping that she gets get chance to be at the Met this year. If she does the I would love to see Lily grace the red carpet wearing this purple, blue, and green Armani Prive Fall 2016 Couture embellished strapless peplum ball gown. I think that this gown would be absolutely gorgeous on a red carpet and I think that Lily would be the perfect person to really breath a breath of elegance and grace into this dark and moody gown. Throw some black satin Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Faye’ ankle strap, bow back sandals, a chic vintage inspired hairstyle, light pink lip, and simple diamond earrings with this look and Lily will have herself a gorgeous red carpet moment for her first Met Gala red carpet. At last year’s Met Gala Rose Byrne was among my favorite’s wearing a dark red pieced custom Calvin Klein gown, which would fit very well in the ranks of this year’s exhibit, and I have high expectations. I picked something a little different for Rose with this Sophie Theallet Fall 2016 RTW ensemble which consists of sleeveless velvet and lace top and a sheer embroidered lace midi skirt. I think that this is a perfectly different look for Rose to bring to this years Met red carpet, sometimes a shorter hem is something that get you noticed. Round this look with a gold Lee Savage ‘Plane Space’ clutch, a pair of gold Casadei mirrored leather sandals, a bob of bouncing curls, and a chic fresh face of makeup to really ensure that Rose has another killer Met Gala red carpet moment. Sienna Miller showed us last year that she has the most amazing bohemian glamour out of any of the boho goddesses. For next Monday’s Met Gala I decided to go with some more on the glamorous side of of things than bohemian. Turning this black Nina Ricci Fall 2016 RTW long sleeved cocktail dress which features a long keyhole detail on the bodice and a split on the skirt into a dramatic column skirted gown with that sexy split would really turn out a majorly glamorous look. This gown would have some major old Hollywood vibes while adding a little bohemian elegance via small floral embroidery (which looks like crystal embellishment from the photo above.) Adding a vintage inspired updo, red lip, black Rauwolf octagon cut gemstone clutch, a pair of embellished black Christian Louboutin ‘Top Vague’ pointed toe pumps, and Cartier diamond drop earrings would really drive home this very glamorous red carpet ensemble.Last today is the always stunningly edgy Zoe Kravitz. I really love to see Zoe on the red carpet as I never really know what she is going to bring she will turn. I picked this Calvin Klein Fall 2016 RTW laurex midi dress which features geode detailing and a plunging neckline. This edgy glam look is exactly what I believe that Zoe would wear on the Met red carpet. Since she has such an amazing run on the red carpet and this look would just be another gorgeous stop for her. Letting the gown do all the talking adding just a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Excite’ suede lace-up pumps, a bun of braids and a red lip will ensure that Zoe has a beautiful moment on the Met red carpet.
The 2016 Met Gala, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” is Monday May 2, 2016.
We are just a week out from the 2016 Met Gala, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” and almost through all my wishes for the red carpet. Keeping things going I have a wish for model Cindy Bruna. Cindy has been killing it on the red carpets she has been on this year and I am hoping that she will grace the Met Gala red carpet really giving me a gorgeous look. I can picture Cindy taking to the red carpet in one of the custom Topshop or H&M looks, or in something by Balmain, but I decided to go a different direction for my wish for her. I think that this ivory Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Spring 2016 Couture gown rendered in silk satin and features a sheath silhouette with a bateau neckline, draped fringe, and beaded embellishment along the bodice. This vintage inspired draped gown, which slips on to avoid the use of a zipper, is a different type of look for Cindy but when I was picking gowns for her it was the piece that really stood out the most to me. A gold clutch, a vintage inspired faux bob, red lip, and gold sandals would really punctuate this vintage glam look for Cindy on the Met Gala red carpet. Florence Welch is getting ready to kick off another leg of her How Big Tour in Miami in just a few weeks so I am really hoping that she will jet to NYC for the Met Gala. Florence is currently the face of Gucci’s fine jewelry and watches, so I positive that if she does attend that she will take to the carpet wearing Gucci. I would figure that Gucci’s creative director would create something custom for her. I did go to the runway, which has plenty of looks that Florence would gravitate towards. I ended up choosing this nude Gucci Fall 2016 RTW organza a-line gown which feature 3-d poppy and leave details. I think that this is not exactly the route that Flo will go for the Met red carpet but it is something that she would go for. I imagine that the gown that Florence will wear will have lots of floral embroidery and be very flowing, more reminiscent of the Pre-Fall 2016 collection than that Fall 2016 collection. A bohemian goddess is really what I picture Florence looking like when she steps onto the Met steps. Jourdan Dunn is one of my favorite models to see on the red carpet. Jourdan knows how to really brings sexy to the red carpet without it going to be over done. Last year Jourdan wore a gorgeous custom Burberry gown and the year before that she was one of the women in custom Topshop. I went the route of choosing something short for her to wear this year, to shake things up. While I picked a short dress this Balmain Pre-Fall 2016 long sleeved mini dress is completely covered in Swarovski crystals and features a beaded fringe down the sleeves. This dress is ready for someone like Jourdan to really have her twirl her way up the stairs at the Met. We wait for real epic moments to capture on the red carpet and seeing Jourdan work the carpet in this dress, using the dramatic fringe to its full potential, would really be one of those moments. A pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Talitha’ patent leather sandals, smokey eye, and a sleek hairstyle are all that is needed to really make sure that this is a gorgeous red carpet look. I didn’t plan it this way but there are a lot of models in this post. We always see a whole host of the most fashionable models take to the red carpet at the met ball and British model Lily Donaldson is one of the ones that we usually see. I have been loving the very glamorous looks that Lily has been wearing on the red carpet recently and I am sure that she will be on top form come the Met Gala. I picked this gorgeous red Mugler Pre-Fall 2016 pierced, twist draped gown which features a deep v-neck with asymmetric shoulder straps, a twist detail at the bodice with pierced hardware at the front, and a draped floor length column skirt for Lily to wear on the Met Gala red carpet. This gown meshes sex appeal with modern glamour which is a perfect red carpet moment in my eyes. Keeping the look with that modern glamour via pulled back waves, a red pout, Christian Louboutin ‘Slikova’ sandals, and a red Lee Savage ‘Infinite Space’ clutch would really ensure that Lily is at her best on the Met red carpet. Reese Witherspoon is one who I would be most worried about not making a major impact on the Met Gala red carpet. She is either really memorable (like her pink Stella McCartney) or someone that fades into the background (like her red Jason Wu,) and this year I am hoping for something that is major high impact. I think that this white Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture gown features an french regency draped silhouette, black sleeves, and light blue floral embellishments on the bodice. Reese really needs to bring all her diva stature out to not let this draped gown wear her, but I really think that this gown on her would be one of those memorable moments. A pair of white Christian Louboutin ‘Senora’ peep toe sandals and Tiffany & Co. jewelry including a pair of diamond and tourmaline drop earrings and cocktail ring added with a chic vintage inspired updo, classic makeup, and a pink lip would really ensure that Reese as one of her best red carpet looks ever. One look I am really interested in seeing is what Monse creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia will deliver as their first Met Gala look. The brand has been heavily loved since its debut last September and I am sure that someone will wear the brand for the Met. My choice would be Solange Knowles who is a killer fashionista. This pink and grey Monse Fall 2016 RTW one shoulder men’s shirt inspired striped gown would be the look that I would pick for Solange to make a killer red carpet moment. It is going to take some someone with edge, grace, and drama to make this gown work off the runway, and I think that Solange has the perfect chops to make this gown work. Keeping the accessories just a cool as the gown I would add a silver Prada pailette and beaded fringe embellished clutch and a pair of silver Prada metallic leather chunky heel, peep toe pumps to really ensure that Solange slays the Met Gala red carpet.
