2017 London Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

We are now over halfway through my wishes for the 2017 London Film Festival and I am really excited to see what all of the stars will bring this year. I am really hoping that all of the big stars that have films screening at this years festival will make the jaunt to London to help promote their films at the festival. Today’s wishes features two women who I am always in awe of when it comes to the red carpet and one that I am ready to see return to her prime. I always love seeing Julianne Moore on the red carpet and I am excited that her latest film Wonderstruck is screening at this year London Film Festival. We have seen Julianne step out to promote this film already at the Cannes Film Festival and a screening at the New York Film Festival is upcoming. I decided to go for a more formal look than Julianne has worn while promoting this film. She wore a Chanel Couture cocktail look for the Cannes premiere, but I went for bold color with this electric yellow and purple Carolina Herrera Spring 2018 RTW matchstick embroidered gown rendered in silk and features a crew-neck, long sleeves, and a pleated hem. I had this look originally on my wish list for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, but I totally think that Julianne would deliver it in such a chic and modern way. Sleek hair styled the same way it was styled for the runway, a smokey eye, a dark pink lip, bright gold Gucci ‘Allie’ knotted strappy sandals, and a pair of statement Chopard earrings that features white and yellow diamonds and emeralds would really make this look pop even more than it already does. Michelle Williams stars alongside Julianne in Wonderstruck and I am really hoping for a revival of her style. I say this all the time. She is stuck in the clenched fists of Louis Vuitton and it is really making me just want to fall asleep every time she steps out. Sometimes I just find LV over designed and ugly on the red carpet, but on Michelle a lot of the time I find Michelle’s looks just snooze worthy. So for this red carpet I decided to ditch LV and make a wish for something that I can fall in love with. I would die if Michelle stepped onto the red carpet at her gala premiere during the London Film Festival wearing this white lace Calvin Klein Spring 2018 RTW sleeveless shift dress which features a PVC overlay printed with Andy Warhol scenes and a blue sash tied through a grommet. I would love to see it as presented on the runway, but I honestly think that Michelle would remove PVC overlay and make it a little more simple and commercial. I think that even without the PVC that this would still be a really beautiful moment for Michelle. I wouldn’t completely shun LV for Michelle adding a black and white printed Petite Malle clutch, simple black ‘Rendez Vous’ pumps, and dainty ‘Dentelle de Diamants’ drop earrings to ensure she still has the brand represented. Finishing with a sleek hairstyle, lined eyes, and a red lip would really make this look beautiful for Michelle. The Killing of a Sacred Deer like Wonderstruck also screened at the Cannes Film Festival back in May and Nicole Kidman gave one of her best red carpet moments ever in custom Calvin Klein. The film is slated to premiere at the 2017 London Film Festival and I am really hoping that hot off her Emmy win (from both her red carpet look and her Big Little Lies performance) that Nicole will continue her amazing fashion run. I think that this gunmetal Atelier Versace Fall 2017 Couture sleeveless crystal embroidered chainmail cocktail dress would really hit a darker more structured note on the red carpet. I think that this look is more medieval couture than we are used to seeing Nicole wearing lately. She has worn a lot of really dainty, very feminine looks on the red carpet and I really want to see this slightly harder and more structured side of Nicole. I think that with a pair of matchy antracite Aquazzura ‘Monaco’ beaded sandals, sleek hair pinned behind the ears, kohl rimmed eyes, nude glossy lips, and a pair of vintage diamond and sapphire Fred Leighton earrings that Nicole would shut the red carpet down.

2017 London Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

It varies from year to year whether or not I get excited about the London Film Festival. Sometimes the stars decide to come out and support their films and sometimes they don’t. With some big stars who have promoted their films at other festivals this season I have high expectations for the red carpets at this festival, so the stars better bring it. Carey Mulligan has really killed her looks so far while promoting Mudbound and I am really looking forward to seeing what she will wear for the London Film Festival ‘Royal Bank of Canada’ gala screening of the film. Carey has been one who I have loved and I have not, and I am glad to see she is living up to that one to watch title I bestowed on her several years ago. I would absolutely drop dead if Carey stepped out on the red carpet wearing this red floral embroidered lace Azzedine Alaia Fall 2017 Couture stripe midi dress. We don’t see a whole lot of Alaia on the red carpet, and I think that Carey would definitely make this dress come to life on a red carpet. Sleek side parted hair, a smokey eye, red lip, and a pair of red Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ sandals would all add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Carey.I have never been a huge fan of Mary J. Blige’s red carpet choices, but I am hoping that with the awards buzz surrounding Mudbound that she will up her style game. Most of Mary’s red carpet looks this year (if not all of them) have been black, and I decided to go to the exact opposite of that for this wish. I think that Mary would look so chic on the red carpet at the London Film Festival wearing this white/silver Sally LaPointe Spring 2018 RTW dress which features a plunging v-neckline, long sleeves, a self tie waist, and midi length. This dress is modern glamour meets disco in all the best possible ways. It is chic and simple and I think that would be the perfect formula to put Mary back on track for an amazing red carpet moment. With a silver Judith Leiber ‘Faceted’ clutch, old Hollywood waves, a kohl rimmed eye, red lip, a pair of silver Schutz ‘Thaynara’ pumps, and a statement Tiffany & Co. ‘Masterpieces Ribbons’ necklace with diamonds and pearls would ensure that Mary has one of her best red carpet moments ever.Blonde Emma Stone is not my favorite. I have felt like she is has just tried, and not given me anything that knocks me off my seat since making her red carpet return following awards season. I am praying that ahead of awards season that she will be back on her mojo. Her film Battle of the Sexes is expected to garner some awards season love and she is expected to present at most of the awards shows. I am hoping that at the London Film Festival gala screening of Battle of the Sexes that Emma will shut down the red carpet wearing this grey and white chevron beaded a-line gown from the Christian Dior Fall 2017 Couture collection. I wasn’t a huge fan of this collection, but I think that Emma would look so incredibly chic wearing this gown on the London Film Festival red carpet. I would elevate this look even more with a pair of black Sophia Webster ‘Mila’ suede cutout peep-toe booties, a sleek updo, smokey eye, red lip, and vintage ruby and diamond Tiffany & Co. earrings to put Emma back on the best dressed lists.

2017 London Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

We are just getting started with all of my wishes for the 2017 London Film Festival. Over the next couple of days I will be posting my wishes for two or three films that are galas or special screenings at this years London Film Festival. Today I have two films and three stars to wish for. Each of these ladies had been off the radar for a while and this year they have all made strides this year. Annette Bening usually keeps a pretty low profile on the red carpet but this year she has walked the carpets at the Golden Globe Awards, Venice Film Festival, and Toronto Film Festival. While Annette isn’t usually one to wear something bold or statement making she is always incredibly chic. I would love to see Annette attend the London Film Festival gala premiere of Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool wearing this very chic black Carolina Herrera Spring 2018 RTW suit which is made up of a jacket which features a collarless neck, mirrored buttons, and multi-slited hem and a pair of woven pleated pants. I think that this look just screams classic elegance and I think that speaks to Annette’s sense of style perfectly. A chic curly hairstyle, red lip, and a pair of black Schutz ‘Ionara’ pumps would add the perfect chic touches to this ensemble. Redoubtable first screened at the Cannes Film Festival back in May and the cast will be back on the red carpet at the ‘create’ strand gala at the London Film Festival. Since this film is screening at the festival as one of the creative themed gala’s I feel like the red carpet might be a little more casual than I have made my wishes for. I really want to see Berenice Bejo to continue her run of wearing Elie Saab that she started during the Deauville American Film Festival. Elie was the brand that dressed Berenice for most of the major red carpets, including the Oscars, the year she made her big debut in The Artist. I could totally see Berenice making this ivory chiffon Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture simple gown which features beautiful beaded halter neckline and a metallic belted waist. This gown is classic elegance defined and I know that Berenice will make it the moment that it truly deserves to be. With a gold Elie Saab ‘Stars’ clutch, romantic updo, diamond cluster earrings, smokey eye, glossy nude lip, and a pair of nude Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Coline’ sandals Berenice will have that red carpet moment that I know that this could be.Stacy Martin stars alongside Berenice in Redoubtable and has joined her at all of the films premieres. I am really excited to see what she will wear on the red carpet at the 2017 London Film Festival. Almost always Stacy is seen wearing Prada or Miu Miu on the red carpet, but I decided to switch things up a little bit for this premiere. I think that this black Armani Prive Fall 2017 Couture tiered, sequined cocktail dress screams Stacy’s style and I think that it would be a nice change of pace from the constant Prada and Miu Miu dresses that she normally. With loose waves, diamond drop earrings, a black Prada snakeskin clutch, and a pair of light blue Miu Miu crystal-embellished sandals Stacy will ensure it still represents her favorite brands while pushing her limits.

2017 London Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

We are getting close to the final major film festival of the year, the 2017 London Film Festival. This years edition will kick off next Wednesday and with the lineup that the festival has I am hoping to see some really major things from all of the stars since the films screening definitely have a strong star presence. This years festival will kick off with a gala screening of the film Breathe and I am really intrigued to see what Claire Foy will wear on the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the London Film Festival. I went into the fall festival season hoping for really great things from Claire who has captured the eye of some of the biggest brands in fashion thanks to her role as Queen Elizabeth 2 in The Crown. I was hoping to see really great looks from Claire, but from her dark hair (for her upcoming Girl With The Dragon Tattoo film) to her lackluster choices in fashion. They announced this film as the opening of the festival right around the couture presentations. It made the option of picking this ivory and avocado green strapless Valentino Fall 2017 Couture floral embroidered for Claire to wear for this occasion perfect. Claire was the first and only person I have ever pictured wearing this gown on a red carpet and I think that she would look so elegant and regal wearing this gown for the London Film Festival premiere of Breathe. A vintage inspired updo, kohl rimmed eyes, red lip, vintage diamond and emerald Cartier earrings, and a pair of gold Aquazzura ‘Linda’ metallic leather sandals will all ensure that Claire has one of her best red carpet moments yet. Isabelle Huppert will be presenting her film Happy End at the London Film Festival which will follow it’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. This premiere is a special presentation and I am really looking forward to seeing what Isabelle will wear on the red carpet for this premiere. Isabelle has definitely scored as a style star this year with chic effortless gowns from Dior, Saint Laurent, and Armani Prive. Almost always Isabelle is seen wearing looks from couture designers. Isabelle has never worn Schiaparelli on the red carpet, but her stylist loves the brand. I think that for a London Film Festival premiere that this forest green Schiaparelli Fall 2017 Couture long sleeve layered chiffon midi dress would make for the perfect look for Isabelle to rock. The look is chic and age appropriate while still being incredibly modern and fashion forward at the same time. I am praying for an amazing moment on the red carpet from Isabelle and I think that with loose waves, dark red lip, smokey eye, diamond and emerald Chopard drop earrings, and a pair of green velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Iriza’ snakeskin embossed pointed toe pumps that would be exactly what happens with this look. Rounding out my first set of wishes for the 2017 London Film Festival is for the gorgeous Octavia Spencer whose film The Shape of Water is screening as a gala at this years edition. I was on a kick of expanding Octavia’s red carpet repertoire after a few breaks from her tradition of wearing Tadashi on the red carpet. I was not surprised, but slightly saddened, to see that as she has made the festival rounds promoting The Shape of Water exclusively wearing the brand again. After Octavia wore a short red Tadashi cocktail dress to the films premiere at the Venice Film Festival that I wonder if she will wear a gown in London. I think that for a gala premiere that a gown should be requisite. I always keep an eye out for looks for Octavia to wear on the red carpet when watching the Tadashi show during New York Fashion Week and when this periwinkle blue long sleeve a-lone lace gown from the designers Spring 2018 RTW collection came down the runway I fell in love with the idea of seeing Octavia wearing it on a red carpet. It is a perfect gown for a gala premiere and I know Octavia would look absolutely elegant wearing this gown on the red carpet. With a sleek updo, smokey eye, nude lip, Neil Lane art deco diamond drop earrings, and a pair of silver Schutz ‘Ilara’ sandals I know that Octavia will ensure this is a glamorous red carpet moment.

10 Must See Red Carpet Looks From Milan Fashion Week Spring 2018 Ready-to-Wear

I don’t know what is in the water that designers are drinking but the Spring 2018 Ready-to-Wear collections are amazing. I can’t remember the last season I had as many highs as I have had this season. One show even brought tears to my eyes. The designers in Milan upped the already high bar for the designers in Paris to match. After feeling a little overwhelmed (and spending 10 hours) writing my 20 Must See Looks from New York Fashion Week I have decided to cut down these these lists to just 10 looks. It was really hard to pick just 10 looks from the Milan collections, and it was even harder to pick one look from each collection to nominate for this list. So many red carpet moments lie in the midst of this list and I am praying for stars to wear them in major ways. Alberta Ferretti: Watching the Alberta Ferretti Spring 2018 RTW show and seeing passerby’s peeking through the bars of the courtyard of the palazzo to watch the show made me understand them on a personal level. The show was packed with star models from Gigi & Bella to Karlie & Joan. It started with one black swimsuit after another, and I was bored, but as soon as the sequins, flowing drapery, crystal embellishments, and feathers started coming down the runway I kept getting more and more excited about what the collection as a whole. I went through several options from this collection, but it was this brown long sleeve sequined mini dress with crystal embellishments on the neckline. When I saw this dress on the runway I saw Kerry Washington wearing it with loose waves, a satin clutch, smokey eyes, and a pair of satin sandals on a red carpet and I know she has the glamour to make it work.

Antonio Marras: When it comes to designers that show in Milan I don’t usually think of Antonio Marras when it comes to red carpet looks, but in his Spring 2018 RTW collection (which had 98 looks) there are definitely some that I would love to see on a red carpet. Stars like Jenna Dewan Tatum, Cate Blanchett, and Sarah Gadon have all worn the brand in the past and I would definitely want to see it more on the red carpet. This yellow floral embroidered 20’s style dress would be amazing on someone like Amal Clooney who has some of the most amazing personal style. Bottega Veneta: I always say that the season following a collection I really love that I am usually underwhelmed (what does that say for the Fall 2018 Collections?) that was definitely the case when it came to the Bottega Veneta Spring 2018 collection. The inspiration went from the 40’s to the mod 60’s and I was just underwhelmed. While overall the collection was not one that I was overall thrilled with, there were moments from the collection that I can see on the red carpet. This lime green cap sleeve studded gown was one of those eye catching moments that I can see Naomie Harris really making it even more eye catching on a red carpet. Especially with sleek pinned back hair.

Dolce & Gabbana Secret Show: The night before the actual Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2018 show the designers staged a very intimate “secret show” that showcased nothing but formal wear and was modeled by the brands “#DGMillennials.” The collection was much more chic and typical Dolce than the brands main show while still showcasing avant garde and different looks. Over the last year with Stefano and Domenico focusing more on social media with the likes of Cameron Dallas, Lori Harvey, Delilah Belle, and more instead of lots of red carpets. With how beautiful so many of these gowns are I really do want to see them on a red carpet at some point. Suki Waterhouse would take this dark smokey silver column gown with lace up corsetry down the whole front of the gown and beautiful 3-D floral embroidery and make it that sexy and romantic red carpet moment that it totally can be.Francesco Scognamiglio: Couture was the best thing that happened to Francesco Scognamiglio. Since he debuted on the couture calendar last July he has had numerous creations worn on the red carpet and expanded his celebrity base. This silver embroidered lace strapless cocktail dress which features a peplum neckline and beaded appliques on the waist is definitely something that we will see on the red carpet, but I think that while I am fatigued to death of the sheer trend on the red carpet that supermodel Kate Upton would make this a very glam moment on the red carpet.

Marchesa Notte: One brand I never think of during Milan Fashion Week is Marchesa Notte. The collection wasn’t actually presented in Milan, but it was presenting during the same span and I fell in love with the idea of seeing this yellow floral embroidered tiered gown on Alicia Vikander that I had to put in on this list.Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini: Philosophy is a brand that was started as a diffusion brand to Alberta Ferretti. In 2015 Lorenzo Serafini took over as creative director and since then we have seen the brand become more of a luxury line as opposed to a diffusion line. In this last year Serafini has fostered more celebrity relationships than ever dressing the likes of Karlie Kloss, Lea Michele, and Emma Roberts this year along with 15 looks at the Venice Film Festival on the likes of Italian actresses and models like Karolina Kurkova, Bianca Balti, and Chiara Ferragni. I have a feeling that over the next year that we will see more stars wearing the brand on the red carpet. I think that this red and blue diagonal stripe ensemble would be a real statement making look for a press event and someone like Margot Robbie would make it work.

Roberto Cavalli: We saw a very new direction for Roberto Cavalli during Milan Fashion Week when new creative director Paul Surridge debuted his first collection for the brand as creative director. We saw a much sleeker more minimalistic take on the Cavalli woman this season and I wasn’t really thrilled with it. This navy blue sleek cutout gown was definitely one of the standout looks and I know that it will be a really beautiful red carpet moment. Supermodel Karolina Kurkova would definitely rock this look on a red carpet like the ones she walks for amfAR.Versace: I cried. That was how emotional the tribute that Donatella put together to Gianni on the 20th anniversary of her brothers murder. I was taken with how beautiful this tribute was. Donatella had said she didn’t like going into the archives for inspiration because it was painful. Sometimes pain becomes the most beautiful art, and that is what happened on the Versace runway. Everything about this collection from the reproduction of signature 90’s Gianni Versace prints to models walking in tableau down the runway I felt like it was the perfect homage to his legacy. The show finaled with Gianni’s original muses Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Helena Christensen in a tableau wearing silver chainmail gowns and it just was so emotional. Those gowns were show stoppers, but they aren’t going to be red carpet gowns because stars will never try to compare to that moment. I had a hard time picking my favorite look from this collection as there are so many great moments. When I was watching the show this periwinkle blue strapless bustier cocktail dress was one of the few that I immediately saw a star in, so I decided that was what would make this list. Amy Adams always looks lovely in Versace and her red haired glamour was the first thing that I thought of when I saw this dress strut down the runway.

Vivetta: The Vivetta Spring 2018 collection was definitely a stand out for me. I am used to thinking of dainty collar details on crisp menswear inspired shirting when I thought of this brand, but this collection showed a much more bold, flirty, feminine, and princess-y than I am used to seeing from the brand on the red carpet. This tiered tulle ballet princess gown would look lovely on the gorgeous emerging fashion star Dove Cameron who has shown that she can handle volume with ease.

“Blade Runner 2049” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

It was rumored at every major film festival this year (Cannes, Venice, and Toronto) had the buzz that festival veteran director Denis Villeneuve was going to be screening a long awaited Blade Runner 2049. Each rumor came with the caveat that since the movie was going to be released at the beginning of October that it might not screen since the production team had it very tight lipped surrounding the film. Well it wasn’t screened at any of those festivals. It will get it’s big red carpet premiere in Los Angeles next Tuesday October 3, 2017 and with international photocalls and screenings already taking place I am getting excited.Spanish actress Ana de Armas is breaking into the mainstream Hollywood market as the star of Blade Runner 2049 and I am probably most excited to see what she will wear for this premiere. She has already worn looks from Chanel, Miu Miu, Mary Katrantzou, and Osman so far during this promo tour and has sat front row at the Armani Prive Fall 2017 Couture presentation and the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 RTW presentation. I was immediately drawn to the idea of Ana wearing this nude and hot pick tulle strapless tea length gown from the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 RTW collection. I would usually go for a dramatic couture gown with train for the leading lady of a blockbuster to wear for her film, but I think that the fact that Oscar de la Renta is one of the biggest and most coveted brands to wear on the red carpet right now that this hot off the runway gown would be a perfect look for Ana to wear for this premiere. It is kinda equal parts Audrey Hepburn and Disney princess, which is the total opposite of what the feel of the movie is. Sometimes you need to go left to have the most impactful moment on the red carpet. Since the gown is tea length a pair of great shoes is a requisite. I would love to see Ana pair this gown with a sleek high bun, a golden smokey eye, nude lip, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of Christian Louboutin ‘Feerica’ crystal embellished pumps to really turn this into a best dressed of the year worthy moment. Mackenzie Davis is one of the rising stars that are in this film and after her neon green Delpozo gown at the Emmy Awards with hot pink pumps I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet at this premiere next Tuesday. I have wondered if Mackenzie could pull a hot off the runway gown to the red carpet. This coral sequin Alberta Ferretti Spring 2018 RTW halter gown walked the runway in Milan less than a week ago and I think that it would look beautiful on Mackenzie and I think with the help of her Hollywood power stylist Karla Welch that it could be made to happen, especially since this is the big blockbuster film premiere of the fall. Two things tend to happen following the presentation of spring collections in the fall. One is that everything gets worn at festivals, small awards shows, and movie premieres that lead up to awards season and the other is that designers hoard gowns for the big red carpet award shows in January. I am definitely hoping to see some of these looks on the red carpet and this is one that I think could be pulled for a major movie premiere red carpet. With a pearl and crystal embellished Judith Leiber ‘Couture Crystal Egg’ clutch, sleek updo, simple makeup, and a pair of nude Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Coline’ sandals Mackenzie will definitely make this a beautiful moment on the red carpet. Robin Wright is probably the biggest name of the cast in this wish list, yes Blade Runner 2049 also stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Jared Leto, and I have this feeling that she will skip out on the red carpet at this premiere. I am hoping that she will. So far this year Robin has underwhelmed me with her style and I know that she has the potential to be one of my favorites. For the most part Robin sticks to black on the red carpet and I decided not to push the boundary for the LA premiere of Blade Runner 2049 with this black Atelier Versace Spring 2017 Couture beaded web gown. This gown screams simple sex appeal and I think that if anyone could really bring this gown to life on the red carpet it would be Robin. She would just ooze effortless glamour without taking the sex appeal of this gown to the max. Hair and makeup has been a big killer of a lot of Robins red carpet looks recently and I am hoping that for this premiere that she has everything perfectly in place. A sleek hairstyle, smokey eye, nude lip, a pair of diamond drop earrings, and black Casadei ‘Blade’ sandals would make sure that this look is perfect for Robin. I hadn’t really heard of Sylvia Hoeks before I went to put this list together, but with looks from Loewe, Preen, and Christopher Kane I decided that I would put a wish for her to wear on the red carpet at the films premiere in LA. I would love to see Sylvia wearing this rose gold Marchesa Resort 2018 tiered fringe gown which features a plunging neckline with rose gold beading and a floral metallic lace underlay. The gowns 20’s inspired glamour would definitely be a perfect option for Sylvia to wear on her first big Hollywood red carpet. Old Hollywood waves, a lined eye, rose pink lip, diamond drop earrings, and a pair of rose gold Tony Bianco ‘Karvan’ sandals all would ensure that Sylvia really kills the red carpet at this premiere.

“This Is Us” Season 2 Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

This Is Us may not have taken home the Best Drama Series trophy at the Emmy Awards (in quite possibly one of the categories most competitive races ever) but did win for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series. The cast is expected to take to a red carpet tomorrow night to celebrate the premiere of the shows second season. When it comes to really great red carpet fashion the weight of the fashion industry pretty much rests on the shoulders of Mandy Moore, though Chrissy Metz has been working with Hollywood power stylist Penny Lovell (who also dresses Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Bella Heathcote, Anne Hathaway, & Kristen Wiig) on some really beautiful custom gowns from great designers like Tanya Taylor and Lela Rose. So while I am waiting to see what custom look Chrissy will wear (I would love to see DVF) I went to the runways to find the perfect look for Mandy Moore. I went back to another of my already favorite Spring 2018 RTW dresses with this rose red Brock Collection Spring 2018 RTW pencil dress which features a strapless neckline, rouched breast detail, floral embroidery, front pockets, and a sheath silhouette. I think that this would be such a feminine, statement making moment for Mandy on the red carpet. Since the beginning of this year Mandy has become a fashion heavy hitter and I think that this look would continue to prove that Mandy is one to watch on the red carpet. A loose updo, smokey eye, nude glossy lip, gold Bottega Veneta woven chain knot minaudiere, and a pair of dusty rose pink velvet Manolo Blahnik ‘BB’ pumps would all turn this into an absolutely beautiful red carpet moment for a television premiere.

2017 New York Film Festival: “Wonderstruck” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

We have reached the end of my wishes for the 2017 New York Film Festival. The final film, much like the first, hails from Cannes. Wonderstruck was one of the first films that screened in Cannes and it was a mid day screening so my wishes of dramatic gowns from the cast was struck from all possibility. I know that if they didn’t wear gowns in Cannes then I know that they won’t for the New York Film Festival either. I ended up going back to the designers that both Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams wore for the films premiere in Cannes for this festival as well. Julianne Moore wore a feathered white Chanel Couture cocktail dress for the Wonderstruck premiere in Cannes and it was incredibly chic and fun all at the same time. For the films premiere at the New York Film Festival I also picked a gorgeous Chanel Couture creation with this black silk gown which features beautiful beaded details, a plunging neckline, and a full skirt from the labels Fall 2017 Couture collection. This is a very classic style and I think that Julianne would definitely be the perfect person to bring it to life on the red carpet. I would keep this look very classic with a pair of black satin Sophia Webster ‘Coco Crystal’ crystal heel pumps, chic updo, smokey eye, red lip, and a pair of diamond and black spinel Chanel Fine Jewelry ‘Comete’ tassel earrings making it perfect. It would shock me if Michelle Williams wore anything but Louis Vuitton on the red carpet at the New York Film Festival. I would guess that she will wear something custom or yet to be presented from the labels impending Spring 2018 RTW collection, but I went back to the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2018 collection for Michelle yet again. I think that this black leather trimmed short sleeve skirt suit would be an edgy and glamorous option for Michelle and I think that it is fitting of a New York Film Festival premiere. I wouldn’t expect Michelle to go long, though she did for her noon premiere in Cannes. I would love to see Michelle style this suit with a black python Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Malle’ clutch, sleek hairstyle, a pair of black and silver Louis Vuitton ‘Sunrise’ sandals, kohl rimmed eyes, red lip, a pair of diamond and emerald Louis Vuitton high jewelry drop earrings to make this one of Michelle’s best red carpet look in recent history.

The 2017 New York Film Festival opens September 28, 2017 and runs through October 15, 2017.

2017 New York Film Festival: “Wonder Wheel” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Wonder Wheel is a film that will have it’s world premiere at the 2017 New York Film Festival. I always love the red carpets for a Woody Allen film because I feel like stars really bring it when they promote one of his films. While this may not be a Cannes Film Festival premiere (several of Woody’s recent films have premiered at the famous French film festival) I am still expecting some great red carpet moments from the stars of this film. At the Emmy Awards Jessica Biel showed that she ditched the bangs! I am really excited about that because I just didn’t feel the bangs on her. I don’t know if she just hid them in hairpieces or if they are gone for good. I picked this black shirred one sequin sleeve Tom Ford Spring 2018 RTW column gown with the idea that Jessica has the bangs, so I could go either way with it. I picked this gown for Jessica to wear for the New York Film Festival premiere of Wonder Wheel because it just screams modern glamour and I think that Jessica would be able to make it that sleek moment. If she does have the bangs still then I want her to have them blown out and hair straightened into a sleek long style and if she doesn’t then I want her hair styled into a sleek updo. Styling this look with a black Edie Parker ‘Jean’ glitter acrylic clutch, black Tom Ford zipper detail sandals, and de Grisogono diamond and emerald jewelry including a pair of drop earrings and a cocktail ring would all ensure that this look is the epitome of modern glamour.Juno Temple is a free spirit with an eclectic sense of style so I definitely think that of the cast she will definitely stand out. Usually when I pick looks for stars to wear on the red carpet at premieres when they are members of an ensemble cast usually means I am trying to pick cohesive looks that all would work well on the red carpet, I decided to go a little left because that it what I would think Juno would do. I would love to see Juno take this black, pink, and gold brocade Vivienne Westwood Fall 2017 RTW strapless cocktail dress with the brands signature origami draped details and have it lengthened into a column gown. When it comes to the red carpet and especially major awards shows and film festivals we often see stars shy away from prints, but I think that if anyone could make it work it would be Juno. When it comes to her hair Juno has a lot of it and I would love to see her have bouncy tight curls with this dress. A smokey eye, pink lip, gold Elie Saab clutch, a pair of gold Jeffery Campbell ‘Obus’ sandals, and emerald and carnelian Cartier ‘Cactus’ drop earrings would add the perfect complimentary, and quirky touches to this look.Kate Winslet almost always wears black or white on the red carpet. Since she wore a custom white Badgley Mischka gown while promoting another film at the Toronto Film Festival I would bet that she will be back in black at the New York Film Festival. Kate loves Ralph Lauren and there were quite a few gowns from his recently presented Fall 2017 RTW collection that I can see her wearing on the red carpet. Since NYFF is more on the simpler side when it comes to dress code I thought that this black crystal encrusted scoop neck tank gown which features a column silhouette would be perfection. It may not be anything new or boundary pushing but I can imagine that it would be a totally beautiful moment for Kate on the red carpet. I think this look is the perfect platform for some great jewelry. I would love to see Kate go to her favorite Jewelry brand Tiffany & Co. and find a pair of great diamond chandelier earrings (I couldn’t find any online that met what I was thinking about) and a really great ‘Masterpieces Ribbons Lucida’ diamond bracelet to add the sparkle to this look. Finishing the look with old Hollywood waves, a kohl rimmed eye, red lip, and a pair of black Casadei ‘Blade’ sandals would really ensure that this is a great look for Kate.

2017 New York Film Festival: “Mudbound” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Mudbound is making the film festival circuit rounds having had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and the film will also make appearances at the New York Film Festival and the London Film Festival as well. I am hearing awards season buzz for at least Carey Mulligan so I am really interested to see what the rest of this promo tour will bring. When she presented Suffragette two years ago I fell back in love with Carey Mulligan and after a quiet year she has returned in great style. I have a feeling that with the awards buzz surrounding her performance that Carey will continue to be on top of her style game. I went to Gucci for the New York Film Festival premiere of Mudbound and this gorgeous dusty pastel flapper style cocktail dress from the brand’s Cruise 2018 collection for Carey because this dress is just simple glamour at its finest. My fear is that because she stared in The Great Gatsby that Carey may have an aversion to wearing such a flapper inspired dress on the red carpet. A sleek updo, smokey eye, nude lip, vintage diamond drop earrings, contrasting dark fuchsia velvet Gucci ‘Dionysus’ clutch, and a pair of amazing silver Gucci ‘Allie’ crystal and pearl embellished metallic sandals would definitely make this another amazing look for Carey. When it has come to her red carpet looks this year Mary J. Blige has pretty much only worn black on the red carpet. I don’t see that changing anytime soon. For the Mudbound premiere at the New York Film Festival I went for classic glamour with this black Brandon Maxwell Fall 2017 RTW sweetheart neck dress which features pleated detail and a side split. I think that for the New York Film Festival that this simple yet very glamorous dress is perfect and I think that Mary with her curves would really make it a sultry moment on the red carpet. I would add some color with a pair of red knotted velvet Tom Ford sandals so that Mary isn’t wearing head to toe black. A sleek hairstyle, smokey eye, red lip, and a black Edie Parker ‘Jean’ acrylic clutch would ensure that Mary has a perfect film festival premiere ensemble.
