Wow can’t believe that we are at the final post of 2017! This year I have shared almost 500 posts with you guys and you guys have made this the best year yet! So thank you again! To finish the year I am taking a break from my Golden Globe Awards wishes to kick off my wishes for the Critics Choice Awards red carpet which will take place on Thursday January 11, 2018. The critics has been all over the map. The last time they had an awards show was back in December of 2016 and I was expecting for one earlier this month. I was refreshing the Critics Choice website over and over again until it was announced that they were going to be moving the show back into January and continuing with the meshing of the film and television awards. Alison Brie is going to be making a lot of rounds this year on the award season. She personally is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the Netflix series GLOW and is part of the ensemble casts of the Best Comedy nominated movie The Disaster Artist and the Best Acting Ensemble and Best Picture nominated drama The Post. So we will be seeing a lot of her over awards season. I am really excited to see what Alison will bring since recently she has worn a lot of really great looks on the red carpet. For the Critics Choice Awards I think that Alison would look absolutely beautiful wearing this Azzaro Spring 2017 Couture gown which features a navy sequined bodice and sand silk draped skirt. The gown is definitely not the same level of designer that we have seen from Alison lately, but the moment I saw it I was enamored with the idea of it. I think that for the occasion of the Critics Choice Awards that this is the perfect type of gown for Alison to rock on the red carpet. Style it with chic old Hollywood waves, a navy smokey eye, light pink lip, a navy Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Slide’ crystal evening clutch, a pair of nude Giuseppe Zanotti three strap sandals, and vintage Van Cleef & Arpels gold set diamond and sapphire earrings to really make this look perfection for this red carpet.
Cat Deeley has earned another Best Reality Show Host nomination for her hosting duties on So You Think You Can Dance. Cat can have some really beautiful moments on the red carpet and I am really looking forward to seeing what she will wear on this red carpet. She tends to go to the relaxed glam route, and so I decided to keep that going with this teal Monique Lhuillier Resort 2018 rose print gown which features a strapless neckline, a column silhouette, and a back train design. This gown definitely falls right into what I think Cat would wear on the red carpet, and for the Critics Choice Awards I think that it would be a very chic moment. Since the dress is such a statement on its own I would just add loose waves over one shoulder, a defined eye, bold pink lip, silver crystal embellished Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Coline’ sandals, and a pair of Rina Limor pink tourmaline, diamond, & aquamarine floral teardrop earrings.
Elisabeth Moss is looking like she is going to have a really great awards season this year. She is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in The Handmaids Tale. I think that we will have some really chic moments from her over the course of awards season. For the Critics Choice Awards I would love seeing Elisabeth give us glamour on this red carpet wearing this black and nude Roland Mouret ‘Addover’ strapless gown which is rendered in black double faced satin, reinvigorated with asymmetric bustling along with a peplum waist with a waterfall panel in blush that falls from waistline to hemline. I think that this very classically film nior style gown would look incredibly chic on Elisabeth. I would go all classic glam with the styling with a defined eye, pink lip, chic Veronica Lake waves, a black Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Slide’ crustal clutch, black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Ada’ gold heel sandals, and yellow diamond Chopard chandelier earrings to make this a beautiful moment for Elisabeth.
Holly Hunter has earned a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Big Sick. Holly isn’t one who I think will make major waves when it comes to her style, but always looks very beautiful on the red carpet. At the Critics Choice Awards I think that she would look ever so elegant wearing this maritime blue Michael Kors ruched stretch matte jersey gown which features long sleeves, a plunging neckline, and peaked shoulders. This is a very chic moment and I think that Holly would look ever so elegant wearing this gown on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet. I would keep this look rather simple with loose waves, a smokey eye, light pink lip, navy Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ clutch, and a pair of navy suede Jimmy Choo ‘April’ platform, block heel sandals for Holly.
Laura Dern is looking at several awards this awards season so I am really hoping that she will deliver a really great moment on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards. I went very chic for the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Movie or Limited Series nominee with this black Armani Prive Spring 2017 Couture on shoulder gown which features a single cap sleeve, column silhouette, crystal embellishments, and a side cutout. This is the type of gown I figure we will see on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. When I was picking Golden Globe Awards gowns for stars with the mind of the #MeToo black gown protest I kept the burgundy and pink Ralph & Russo Couture gown I had initially chosen for Laura to wear instead of swapping it for a black gown. The idea that I had already picked a black gown for Laura to wear for the Critics Choice Awards also played a factor in not choosing another black gown for her to wear this awards season. With that said she very well could wear this gown for the Golden Globe Awards as well, but I think that this moment would be much less impactful on the Globes red carpet than the Critics Choice red carpet. Since this gown is so sleek I would want to see Laura go very glam with the styling. A romantic updo, smokey eye, rose pink lip, black Prada snakeskin box clutch, a pair of black satin Christian Louboutin ‘Tres Frais’ sandals, and statement Cartier Haute Jewellery diamond, onyx, ruby, and pearl tassel earrings all would round this look out in the most glamorous way possible.
Michelle Pfeiffer has had a really great year this year and I am really excited to see what 2018 will have in store for her. As she has made the international rounds promoting her projects and attending award shows Michelle has just oozed sophisticated, sensual glamour and I am really interested in seeing that continue through Awards Season 2018. At the 2018 Critics Choice Awards Michelle holds a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Movie or Limited Series I went short, bold, and beautiful with this black Carolina Herrera Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which is covered in multicolored paillettes and features a strong shoulder, peplum blouse and a-line midi skirt all tied together with a black belt with a light blue buckle. This red carpet is definitely one where a tea length gown or cocktail dress could definitely be in play. This look is a little bolder in it’s shape than we have seen Michelle wearing this year, but I think that she would definitely take this look and really breathe life into it on the red carpet. A pair of navy velvet Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Lola Pearl’ slingback, ankle-wrap sandals, a romantic updo, bold defined eyes, and a nude lip would be all that I would add to this look to really allow for the dress to be the focus of this look.
Finishing out 2017 is my final wish for the year is for one of my favorite ladies on the red carpet, Sarah Paulson. I have a feeling that with her nomination coming by the way of Best Acting Ensemble for The Post, her wins from last year for The People Vs. O.J. Simpson, and a lot of major projects on the horizon I feel like it is inevitable that we will see a lot of Sarah next year. For the Critics Choice Awards red carpet I went to vintage, which knowing her stylist Karla Welch is quite likely, Yves St. Laurent. This ruby-red silk and black velvet gown from the YSL 1994 Rive Gauche collection which features a seductive plunging bow-trimmed, bias cut, high side slit, and cut-out design is definitely something that I can picture Sarah wearing, and I think that this gown just screams classic glamour. When it comes to the styling I want to see Sarah really go for it with a sleek bob, defined eyes, nude lips, a great red velvet The Row mini bag with a dramatic black tassel, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Mira Bella’ criss-cross peep toe pumps, and Cartier jewels including sleek ruby and diamond drop earrings and a really glamorous art deco ruby and diamond bracelet to ensure that this look is perfection from head to toe.
The 2018 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Thursday January 11, 2018.
