2018 GOYA Awards Red Carpet Wish List

While I have predominately been covering the red carpets of major US based awards shows there are some other big red carpets that take place outside the United States. The GOYA Awards are the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars and always deliver a really major red carpet. Spanish stars love dramatic looks on the red carpet, ones that for a typical Hollywood red carpet would seem too risky. That is what I love about the red carpet at the GOYA Awards. Salma Hayek in custom Gucci in 2012, Nieves Alvarez in Stephane Rolland Couture in 2013, and Penelope Cruz in custom Atelier Versace in 2016 are among some of the highlights that have come from this red carpet in the past that have me really excited for this year.Spanish actress Belen Cuesta is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Holy Camp! and I am interested in seeing what she wears this year. Last year Belen wore a very chic white gown that I still have no idea who designed it, and it was a really chic moment. For this years red carpet I would love to see her give a color moment wear this green Pronovias crisscross halter neck gown which features a side split, chiffon cape like train, and a sweeping train under the cape. The red carpet at the GOYA Awards is a marketing nightmare to me because everything is over-branded from the extremely busy step and repeat to the branded red carpet, so bold color helps stars stand out against such a busy background and I think that this green Pronovias gown would help do just that. Add a chic updo, simple defined eyes, a red lip, gold Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ metallic pumps, and a pair of statement emerald, pink and purple tourmaline, and diamond Bulgari chandelier earrings to really ensure this look is head to toe perfection. I had never heard of The Bookshop which has earned  English actress Emily Mortimer a Best Actress nomination at the 2018 GOYA Awards, and then I heard it was going to be screening at the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival next month as well. I find it interesting that the film as a GOYA nomination while it hasn’t had a release yet, but to each awards show their own. Carolina Herrera gowns can usually be seen on the red carpet at the GOYA Awards and I definitely think that Emily would look very chic red Carolina Herrera v-neck evening gown which features a wrap style a-line skirt, cascading side ruffle detail, and a bow on the hip. This gown is classic Carolina and I think that going for something chic and elegant for this red carpet would be a great option for Emily to rock on this red carpet. I would keep the styling simple with a red Roger Vivier crystal pilgrim buckle satin clutch, a sleek updo, simple defined eyes, a light pink lip, a pair of red Stuart Weitzman ‘Rossana’ grosgrain pumps with rose appliqué, and Chopard diamond cluster earrings to really ensure that this is a beautiful monochromatic moment.Spanish supermodel Nieves Alvarez is always on the GOYA Awards red carpet and delivers major moments from Ralph & Russo, Georges Chakra, and Stephane Rolland. The Stephane Rolland gown that she wore in 2013 topped my Best Dressed of the Year list and the Stephane Rolland gown she wore last year came close to being on the BDOTY list too. No one wears a Stephane Rolland gown like Nieves, and I am PRAYING that she will deliver a really dramatic moment from the designer on the GOYA Awards red carpet again this year. I think that this Stephane Rolland Fall 2017 Couture collection which features a black long sleeve turtle neck bodice, a white skirt with a dramatic train, and white and gold sculpted feather like details is perfection for Nieves for this red carpet. She is literally one of two or three people who I think could wear it, and the only one who I think could make it a Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment. A romantic updo, smokey eyes, matte nude lips, vintage black and white porcelain Bulgari pendant earrings, and a pair of gold Christian Louboutin ‘Aketata’ peep toe platform sandals all would ensure that this look is perfection from head to the toe and really deliver that major moment that I know Nieves is capable of. Penelope Cruz earned her Best Actress nomination at the GOYA Awards for her performance in Loving Pablo and I am very interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpet at this years ceremony. In the past Penelope has predominately worn custom Atelier Versace gowns on the GOYA Awards red carpet, but since ACS: The Assassination of Gianni Versace debuted we haven’t seen Versace dress Penelope at all. I turned to a much lesser known designer for Penelope to wear this year with this nude and blue Ziad Nakad Spring 2018 Couture mermaid gown which features long sleeves, a dramatic train attached at the side, and a high off the shoulder neckline. I definitely feel like this gown is a little more dramatic than we are used to seeing stars (other than Nieves) wearing on the GOYA Awards red carpet, but I feel like if anyone could make it work that it would be Penelope. She does drama in the most glamorous way possible, and I think that this would be gorgeous on her. A pair of pleated bisque satin Gianvito Rossi broach buckle sandals, romantic updo, smokey eyes, a pink lip, and a pair of white and yellow diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection drop earrings all would make sure that this look is the epitome of glamour.

The 2018 GOYA Awards will take place on Saturday February 3, 2018.

“Black Panther” London Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

On Monday Black Panther had a star studded premiere in LA and it was a feast for the eyes. The stars really brought it to the red carpet at the this premiere. The main cast was dazzling and the guests brought it just as much at the stars who were the focus of the film. So when they travel to London next Thursday February 8, 2018 I think that we will be in store for another amazing night on the red carpet. Chadwick Boseman gave regal menswear style on the red carpet at the Black Panther LA premiere where he wore a silk floral Emporio Armani double breasted blazer. That was a really chic choice for this red carpet, and I do have high expectations for what he will wear over the course of the rest of this tour. For the films premiere in London I decided to go for a more classic look, with a twist of course, picking this dark purple and navy blue patchwork asymmetrical Paul Smith Fall 2018 Menswear double breasted suit. As readers will know this is one of the looks from the Fall 2018 Menswear shows that I really want to see on the red carpet, and I do think that Chadwick would bring a really great menswear moment wearing this suit. I would swap the red printed polo from the runway for a simple black Paul Smith button down shirt and add a pair of smooth brown leather and a black technical fabric lace-up Prada shoes to really ensure that this is a really major menswear moment on the red carpet. On Monday night Danai Gurira was one of the few who shunned the idea of ‘tribal’ or African heritage inspired dressing instead going to bold color and structure wearing pink and black Viktor & Rolf Sior. Danai is always one I love to see on the red carpet and I am sure that I will love whatever she wears next Thursday. I would however fall off my chair if she stepped onto the red carpet wearing this ochre yellow Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2018 draped modern goddess gown which gown features a asymmetric neckline, draped bodice, sexy split, and cutout at the waist. I think that the color against her skin would be a dream and I definitely think that she would give this gown a really regal moment on this red carpet. I would keep the styling incredibly regal including a smokey eye, burgundy lips, a pair of gold leather Aquazzura ‘Eden’ crystal chandelier heel sandals, and a selection of jewels from Beladora including a pair of 18k gold Tiffany & Co. textured gold wire earrings which feature simple diamond detail and a statement Zadora 18k gold diamond lattice cuff bracelet. Lupita Nyong’o was the epitome of a warrior queen wearing custom rich purple Atelier Versace for the Black Panther LA premiere. It was one of those eye catching moments that only Lupita could bring to life on the red carpet. For the films premiere in London I would love to see Lupita bring this ‘tribal’ silk raffia fringed Schiaparelli Spring 2018 Couture strapless, a-line, tea length gown to life on the red carpet. When I did my wish list of this Schiaparelli Couture collection for Red Carpet Fashion Awards there was some blow back about me picking something so ‘tribal’ for Lupita. I have to say that the thought process of picking this dress was definitely more about her history than thinking about the movie and the vibes that it evokes. I want to see Lupita really give us 110% with this look adding a sleek hairstyle, blue smokey eye, red lips, Irene Neuwirth boulder opal and turquoise earrings, and a pair of electric blue Aquazzura lattice cage heel pointed toe pumps to ensure that she really gives her all, yet again, for this red carpet. Michael B. Jordan is one of the guys who I always have high expectations for when it comes to great menswear on the red carpet, but I wasn’t a fan of the custom Calvin Klein suit that he wore on the red carpet the the LA premiere of Black Panther. To me the fit was boxy and too tight and I know that Michael can give much better than that. I think that this dark green Dior Homme Fall 2018 Menswear skinny suit with a mix of single and double breasted button detailing would definitely be a redeeming look for Michael. The green suit is just enough of a statement on its own, but the button details also add another layer to really make this a standout menswear moment for Michael. I think that if he swapped the red printed shirt from the runway for a crisp white button up and a pair of green calf leather Louis Leeman loafers which feature a gold toe cap that this look is perfect for a major premiere red carpet.

The Black Panther London premiere will take place on Thursday February 8, 2018.

2018 Pepsi Super Bowl Half-Time Show Style Wish List

Next week we will be seeing a bit of Justin Timberlake as he gears up to take the stage at the 2018 Pepsi Super Bowl Half-Time Show. This will be the first time that Justin will take the stage at the Super Bowl since he freed Janet Jackson’s nipple while performing as her surprise guest in 2004. Justin has done a lot of growing up since then and I am expecting that he will give nothing but class on the stage next weekend. It has been said that Justin is taking the show solo (like Gaga did last year) with members of N’SYNC and Janet all saying that they will not be participating in his performance. Though they said the same thing about a Destiny’s Child reunion the year Beyonce headlined. I have two looks for Justin to wear next week. The first is for the press conference ahead of the actual Super Bowl. Every year the half time show headliner participates in a press conference and stars have been giving real looks in recent years, Madonna even wore couture. I went for a chic, laid back look for Justin to wear for the press conference via this mustard suede trucker jacket, light yellow v-neck sweater, and jeans from the Tom Ford Spring 2018 Menswear collection. I feel like this look is perfect for a press conference and would look great on Justin, especially if he pair it with chocolate brown suede Santoni hi-top sneakers. For his performance I went to the evening side of the Tom Ford Spring 2018 Menswear collection picking this black and white sequined leopard print tuxedo jacket. It is a little more out there than we are used to seeing on Justin, but I think that it would make for a great performance ensemble for the stage at the Super Bowl. A crisp white tuxedo shirt, black bow tie, and a pair of grey/silver Jimmy Choo ‘Sloane’ glittered loafers would all ensure that Justin gives modern menswear glamour on this stage.

The 2018 Super Bowl will take place on Sunday February 4, 2018.

“Fifty Shades Freed” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Fifty Shades Freed is set to be the first major promo tour this year and I am really interested in seeing what the cast of the film has in store for the final promo tour of the film. It has been over the past 4 years that we have really seen many of the stars in this film come into their own, but usually for the films premieres I am left wanting more. Dakota Johnson is the one who has really let me down the most. I was expecting some really major moments from her, but am usually left wanting more. I am praying that as she makes the tour for the final installment of the Fifty Shades trilogy with the impending tour for Fifty Shades Freed. I had originally picked the black Gucci gown that Dakota ended up wearing for the 2018 Golden Globe Awards for this red carpet I had to go back to the drawing board. Dakota could definitely be the first to get her hands on the Gucci Fall 2018 RTW collection that will be presented on February 21, 2018. I went back to the same collection as that black gown and picked this nude Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 tulle pleated column gown which features bold crystal trim. I would however would edit this gown to be a strapless gown (right now there are all kinds of crystal details on illusion yoke and long sleeves) because I think that the details above the neckline are just a little too much, especially for Dakota. I think that if she did that that this gown would be perfectly suited for Dakota to rock on this red carpet. I think that the crystal trimmed corsetry and floral nipples sit in fine vibes with the film itself. I think that if Dakota wore this modified gown with a pair of nude Gianvito Rossi ‘Helmut’ plexi lace-up booties, perfectly done old Hollywood waves, a thick lined eye, red lips, and Beladora art deco diamond dangle earrings that it could be one of her best red carpet moments ever.Rita Ora owned the press tour for Fifty Shades Darker wearing custom Miu Miu and hot off the runway high low Giambattista Valli Couture, and I have high expectations for what she will bring to the tour for Fifty Shades Freed. I decided to go back to Giambattista Valli for Rita to wear for the Fifty Shades Freed LA Premiere, but went down a different route that the gown she wore last year picking this soft and ethereal goddess draped Giambattista Valli Spring 2018 Couture sleeveless gown which features a plunging neckline, beaded details on the waist and hips, a flowing skirt, and a bit of a train. Rita does the most when she steps onto a red carpet and I know that she would deliver nothing but glamour on the red carpet at this premiere wearing this gown. A chic structured updo, smokey eyes, a bold red lip, white Jimmy Choo ‘Lorina’ satin sandals, and a selection of Lorraine Schwartz aqua pariba tourmaline and diamond jewels including a pair of drop earrings and a cocktail ring all would really make sure that Rita is glamour defined. Sometimes on the red carpet at big film premieres we see some of the big names who are featured artists on the soundtrack and with a star studded soundtrack I am hoping that a few of them step out for the premieres of the film. Hailee Steinfeld and BloodPop teamed up for the song “Capital Letters” for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack and with Hailee’s red carpet successes I am hoping that she will be on the red carpet at the movies premiere. I think that this black Cushnie et Ochs Pre-Fall 2018 suit which features fringe trim on the cuffs of the jacket and the pants would be a chic and sophisticated look for her to wear for this premiere, since she isn’t actually part of the cast of the movie. I would add a pop of color via hot pink silk Casadei draped silk platform sandals to a sleek ponytail, a grey glittery smokey eye, nude lips, and a pair of Messika ‘My Twin Toi & Moi’ diamond earrings to really ensure that Hailee delivers a really chic moment for this premiere.

10 Must See Red Carpet Moments From Paris Menswear Fashion Week Fall 2018

I have been trying to get my 10 Must See Red Carpet Moments From Paris Menswear Fashion Week Fall 2018 up on here for almost a week. Now that the Grammy’s are behind us I wanted to finally bring you all of my favorite menswear looks from the French fashion capitals runway. When it comes to styles NYC is most known for street wear, London and Milan are known for tailoring, and Paris is known for bold style. I have to say that of any of the fashion weeks for Men that Paris is always my favorite. The clothes are always on the extra side and perfect for stars who want to step out of the normative box of dressing. Bellow are the 10 moments from the Fall 2018 Menswear runways of Paris that I think have the best red carpet potential. Alexander McQueen: This season Sarah Burton decided to forgo her usual spot on the London Fashion Week calendar to show her latest menswear collection for Alexander McQueen. To me the McQueen brand, despite its British roots, is a quintessential Parisian runway brand. Several male stars including Eddie Redmayne, John Legend, and Andrew Garfield are fans of wearing McQueen on the red carpet. The look I want to see on the red carpet the most is this rich red rose printed silk suit, but it is going to take the right guy to make it work on the red carpet and I think someone like Drake would infuse this suit with a sense of effortless cool that would make it even better on the red carpet that it was on the runway.

Amiri: I can’t say that I have ever payed any attention to Amiri before, but the brands Fall 2018 Menswear show just oozed cool from the first look to the last. I personally thought the whole collection evoked the spirit of Lenny Kravitz and I definitely can picture him taking this emerald green leather moto jacket layered over a distressed white henley, distressed ripped skinny jeans with a black and white plaid flannel tied around his waist and pair of red suede ankle boots and rocking them for his street style or on the stage.Balmain: I have to say I am pretty much over what Olivier Rousting has done for Balmain womenswear, but I am totally here for his menswear. I have a feeling that is because Olivier has over-saturated the womenswear market since his Balmain x H&M collaboration. It comes that we rarely go a fortnight without at least one Balmain ensemble on the back of a female star, but rarely do we see men wearing the brand on the red carpet. I think the overall extra-ness of the crystal embellishments on the standout pieces that we see on the runways and almost never see on a red carpet. I would love to see this white fully crystal embellished tuxedo jacket layered over a matching black sweater and paired with black patent leather pants on a red carpet but it is going to take someone with a lot of effortless confidence like Miguel to make this into a great red carpet moment.

Dior Homme: When it comes to what brand I think dresses the most men on the red carpet I would definitely rank Dior Homme high on that list. They have some great friends of the house which include Robert Pattinson, The Weekend, and Eddie Redmayne who bring some of the edgier looks to life on the red carpet. It was just this Grammy’s weekend that they dressed Zayn and the boys of Migos. I was actually really surprised we didn’t see one of the guys snatch one of the looks from the Dior Homme Fall 2017 Menswear collection for the Grammy Awards. I definitely can definitely picture someone like Joe Jonas taking this red and black abstract print double breasted skinny suit and rocking it for a music award show.  Dries Van Noten: I definitely feel like a lot of the brands that we hail for their womenswear that also have menswear lines see the men’s collections overshadowed on the red carpet. I can’t say that I ever remember seeing a male celebrity wearing Dries on the red carpet, but as I looked through the Fall 2018 Menswear collection there are definitely some pieces that I would really like to see given a red carpet moment. I personally want to see this chocolate brown blazer which features intricate golden floral embroidery to magically appear in my closet right now, but I also think that Armie Hammer could make it a chic moment on the red carpet too.

Haider Ackermann: Menswear from Haider Ackermann is extremely underrated, though thanks to Tilda Swinton we have seen some of the great pieces that have come down some of his past menswear runways on the red carpet. I think that if anyone could bring one of these looks to the red carpet it would be the new extremely cool, less try hard Harry Styles. I would think he would take this blue velvet and printed silk trimmed blazer and pair with with a pair of light blue on light blue tonal striped pants and just ooze cool guy glam on whatever red carpet he decided to step on to. Louis Vuitton: The Louis Vuitton Fall 2018 Menswear show signaled the end of an era. Menswear creative director Kim Jones stepped down after assuming the role in 2011. He has given us major moments and memorable collaborations (hello Supreme x LV) and he will definitely be missed. His Fall 2018 show was pretty much a redone retrospective of his greatest hits paired with great combat boots. The show even ended with a major supermodel moment with Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss wearing LV logo trench coats. There is a lot of speculation (that was fueled even further thanks to those trenches) that Kim Jones will be heading to Burberry (could he and Phoebe Philo be splitting menswear and womenswear?) but nothing has been made public yet. I would love to see Nick Jonas take this metallic bomber jacket, tree limb print polo, and navy pants and rock it on the red carpet. I would probably leave the boots at home though.

Maison Margiela: As I said in my review this was the debut Maison Margiela menswear collection for John Galliano, who has been serving as the creative director of the brands womenswear since the Spring 2015 Couture collection. I call it the Galliano effect. He took the menswear that has been really blah for the most part and made it really interesting and fun to watch. It is going to take some really secure men to make these pieces work, but I also can picture women wanting many of the pieces in this collection. I desperately want to see Cate Blanchett take this electric blue silk suit and totally own it on a red carpet. Paul Smith: Every season Paul Smith gives some great, perfectly tailored menswear on the red carpet. I think that of all the looks on this list that this navy blue and dark purple patchwork wool double breasted suit is definitely the simplest, but I think that makes it more of a contender in my eyes to actually get a red carpet moment. Timothee Chalamet has that same just left off normal aesthetic so I think that he would make this a really chic red carpet moment, maybe for one of the many events on the road to the Oscars.

Valentino: Rounding out this list is a look that I want Michael B. Jordan to rock during the Black Panther promo tour. I know that this navy blue tiger emblazoned nylon bomber jacket is an obvious iteration of the idea behind the movie, but I think that is what would make it perfect for Michael to wear for a press appearance or a photocall for the film. Pierpaolo Piccioli has consistently gotten better and better as the solo creative director at Valentino and this menswear collection was perfection from top to bottom.

2018 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

I have just a few more wishes I want to make for the 2018 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon. I am not picking looks for ALL of the stars nominated for this red carpet, but I will do that for the red carpet at the actual Oscars. Some of the stars this year like Frances McDormand, aren’t usually big red carpet stars and I don’t think that for this more casual red carpet that there will be much of a lewk.Margot Robbie on the other hand I am sure will serve a lewk on the red carpet. With a Best Actress nomination for her performance as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya I want to see Margot give us something really major on this red carpet and I think that this Valentino Spring 2018 Couture ensemble which features a mint draped bodysuit with a dramatic pussy bow and a pair of purple tailored wide leg pants is the perfect look for her to do just that. This is something that one wouldn’t normally think of for a luncheon, but I think that if anyone could sell it to me Margot would. I would ditch the runway’s coat, the event is taking place in LA after all, and add a pair of beige sequin Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pointed toe stilettos, a sleek updo, defined eyes, nude glossy lips, and a pair of turquoise and diamond Belladora drop earrings to really ensure that this look is a really major lewk. If there were a gun to my head and someone asked me what Octavia Spencer is going to wear to the Academy Award Nominees Luncheon next Monday I would say Tadashi Shoji. Now that is what I am almost sure that she will wear, BUT this is a wish list after all. I applaud the fact that Octavia has stayed true to Tadashi. He was the only designer that wanted to dress her back when not many knew who she was during her awards season run for The Help, but now the fashion industry has finally started to come around to women with curves and are actively trying to dress women with curves for the red carpet. Zac Posen has been one of those designers and I definitely think that this white Zac Posen Resort 2018 cotton poplin dress which features cold ruffle shoulders, an A-line silhouette, and a knee length would look very chic on Octavia. With a simple white cotton shirt dress like that I would love to see Octavia pair this look with bold accessories including a yellow lizard Tyler Ellis ‘Jaime’ clutch, a pair of yellow SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker ‘Bliss’ suede slingback pumps, and a gold hoop earrings. Chic loose waves, a daytime smokey eye, and a bold red lip would all add the perfect finishing beauty touches to this look for Octavia. Sally Hawkins has been giving us Dior moment after Dior moment on the red carpets this awards season, and I have this feeling deep down that is going to continue. I actually find it interesting that Sally and Octavia share the same stylists and they keep putting the two in the same brands over and over, interesting coincidence? Usually when Oscar nominations are announced the gown is the first thing that comes into my mind, but in Sally’s case it was actually the luncheon look that I thought of first. I immediately thought of this 1960’s vintage Oscar de la Renta silk printed dress with an ascot neck tie and long sheer sleeves. Sally in a vintage moment is usually really good and I think that this dress would definitely make for a really chic moment for Sally to wear on the Oscar Nominees Luncheon red carpet. I did add a pair of black Christian Dior curved heeled pumps in black suede calfskin adorned with a bee embroidered heart to keep her relationship with Dior going. Aside from that her standard hair and makeup that is all I would add to really make sure that this is a perfect ladies who luncheon moment for Sally. Finishing out my wishes for the red carpet is just one menswear moment for Best Actor nominee Timothee Chalamet. I know that I am holding onto very loose hope that Timothee will usurp the little gold man after Gary Oldman has seemingly swept all of the other awards shows. For the Academy Award Nominees Luncheon I went to this grey and red Prince of Wales plaid Alexander McQueen Spring 2018 RTW slim cut two button suit. Timothee is definitely a budding menswear style star, and I want to really see some great looks from him from now until the Oscars. This look would definitely do just that. I would swap the cream vicars collar shirt the suit was paired with on the runway with a white and red Alexander McQueen floral print button down shirt to add another layer of visual impact to this look for Timothee. Add a dark red Alexander McQueen skull print tie and a pair of brown leather Alexander McQueen brogues to make sure that this is is perfect for this red carpet.

The 2018 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon will take place on Monday February 5, 2018.

2018 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Next Monday (February 5, 2018) all of the stars nominated for an Academy Award will gather to celebrate each other in a more informal setting at the 2018 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon. Every year the stars get to celebrate in a casual setting the fact they they are nominated with their fellow nominees, before the voting kicks off for who will win.Allison Janney is my favorite to take home the Best Supporting Actress statue for her performance as LaVonna Golden in I, Tonya. With every red carpet that Allison has walked she has just gotten better and better this awards season and I cannot wait to see what that will mean for her come Oscar night. For the Academy Award Nominees Luncheon I thought that this red tone on tone Roksanda ‘Keanu’ silk flared midi dress would be a really chic option. It boarders on the edge of casual and cocktail and I think that is just what is needed for this laid back red carpet. With a sleek hair tucked behind the ears, a dark red lip, simple eyes, a metallic red alligator Tyler Ellis ‘Bridget’ clutch, and a pair of red Manolo Blahnik ‘BB Strap’ pumps this would be a perfect moment for Allison to wear on this red carpet. I was laying in bed watching the Oscar nominations live stream on my phone and when they came to Best Original Screenplay and they said Greta Gerwig’s name I got really excited, and then she was on the list of those nominated for Best Director and I lost it. It was shocking to me that someone who directed her leading lady to a Best Actress Golden Globe and directed the film that won the Best Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy Golden Globe wasn’t nominated as a director for said film, so I feel like she was completely vindicated through her Director’s Guild of America nomination and her Oscar nomination. For the Academy Award Nominees Luncheon I went to a really chic look for Greta with this orange stripe printed Emilio Pucci Spring 2018 RTW silk shirt dress which features a pointed collar, hidden button placket, and a handkerchief hem. This is such a chic casual moment and I think that Greta has the perfect kind of laid back glamour to really make it a beautiful moment for a red carpet. I think that loose curls, a simple lined eye, rust red lips, and a pair of rust velvet Chloe Gosselin ‘Helix’ crustal broach pumps all would ensure that Greta is bohemian glamour from head to toe.Over the course of awards season we haven’t seen Lady Bird star Laurie Metcalf wear any sort of print on the red carpet. That is probably because her stylist see’s print for her as something that is too casual, and I think that on gowns and cocktail dresses that is exactly right. The Oscar nominees luncheon is a casual event so I think that a print could work and when I saw this navy and ivory floral print Escada Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which features a long sleeve button up shirt and matching fitted pants I thought it would be perfect for Laurie. I think that the obvious choice for this red carpet would have been to pick a black wear to to work dress, which I think is probably the likely case, but I think that this look is a more suited for someone nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards. The perfect finishing touches for this look include neutral makeup, chic waves, and a pair of navy Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pumps.I am really looking forward to seeing what Mary J. Blige will wear on the upcoming red carpets. She has been bringing it to the carpets recently and I think that with her Oscar nomination that we will only see her continue to give major moments on the red carpets. Last year two stars brought couture to the day time with Nicole Kidman wearing Chanel Couture and Isabelle Huppert wearing Armani Prive right off the runway for this red carpet. I have a feeling that with some of the great more daytime options that were shown on the couture runways that we will have some great couture moments next Monday. For this red carpet I would love to see Mary give this grey Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2018 Couture sculpted suit a real red carpet moment. I think that the dramatic, yet sophisticated nature of this gown calls for someone with flare and Mary definitely has the flare to make it work. A sleek updo, smokey eye, red lips, and a pair of black and neutral Casadei ‘Blade’ Mary-Jane pumps all would ensure this is perfect for the Academy Award Nominees Luncheon next week. Last in this list is my favorite to take home the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Lady Bird, the gorgeous Saoirse Ronan. I just mentioned how there were so many great looks that could gear more daytime that walked the French Haute Couture runways last week and I think that Saoirse would shut the red carpet at the Academy Award Nominees Luncheon down wearing this Armani Prive Spring 2018 Couture ensemble which features a smokey mauve organza asymmetrical sleeveless top paired with gorgeous sequin embroidered pants. The look itself is such a chic statement that I think with a loose updo, smokey eye, nude glossy lips, and a pair of simple black Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong’ sandals would all ensure that Saoirse has a perfect moment for the Oscar Nominees Luncheon red carpet.

The 2018 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon will take place on Monday February 5, 2018.

10 Best Looks from the 2018 Grammy Awards

As been the tradition I am just going to give a quick rundown paragraph and let the looks on the list speak for themselves. Overall I was really disappointed in this years Grammy Awards red carpet. I feel like every year I set my expectations really high and my dreams get crushed. Aside from a few really great moments I was overall rather bored with what was brought to the Grammy Awards red carpet last night. Lady Gaga was GORGEOUS the whole night long. Miley Cyrus gave me the biggest surprise when she showed up on the Grammy Awards stage wearing a glamorous Zac Posen gown. Check out all my favorite looks from this years red carpet and stage. 1) Lady Gaga in Armani Prive 2) Miley Cyrus in Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2018

3) Chrissy Teigan in Yanina Couture

4) Eve in Naeem Khan Fall 2017 RTW 5) Hailee Steinfeld in Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2018 RTW

6) Rihanna in custom Adam Selman

7) Lady Gaga in Armani Prive 8) Andra Day in custom Victoria Hayes

9) Rita Ora in Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture

10) Pink in Armani Prive Fall 2015 Couture

What do you think? Which were your favorites? Anything from last night that I didn’t put on this list?

“Elton John: I’m Still Standing-A GRAMMY Salute” Red Carpet Wish List

Tonight the biggest stars in music are gathering to celebrate the best moments in the last year in music, and on Tuesday several of them will gather at The Theater At Madison Square Garden in New York City to tape “Elton John: I’m Still Standing-A GRAMMY Salute.” This is a tradition that has come after several other artists including Whitney Huston, Frank Sinatra, and The Bee Gees have all been honored. It also comes on the heels of last weeks announcement that Elton will be embarking on a 300 city 3 year international farewell tour. He says “My priorities have changed. I have young children.” I am really interested in seeing what this show will bring. As I am sure you are aware thanks to his flamboyant on and off stage wardrobe Elton became a bit of a fashion icon and almost all of the looks that I picked for stars to wear on Tuesday’s red carpet were inspired by him and definitely all things I think he would give his seal of approval to. John Legend will be one of the many performers at this concert on Tuesday so I went on a search for looks that I think that would be Elton John worthy for John and his wife Chrissy Teigan to rock on the red carpet. For Chrissy I went to this black silk Adam Selman Spring 2018 RTW sarong style gown which features a white feathered halter neckline and vented back. This gown to me is very chic, but the feathered halter gives it that bit of Elton flare. For the most part Chrissy has given us very fitted looks for her maternity style, but I think that this sarong gown would give a nice change of pace. Add a charcoal Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ marbled plexi clutch, black Christian Louboutin ‘Cross Fliketa’ strappy pumps, a sleek updo, smokey eye, and nude lips to ensure the neck isn’t competing with anything and I think that this would be a really chic moment for this red carpet. For John I went to the Gucci Spring 2018 Menswear collection and this red, white, and blue checkered blazer which features extra wide beaded trimmed lapels. This jacket is incredibly extra, but is also inspired by one of Elton’s stage costumes from the 1980’s. In fact it is almost a complete replica. I would take this jacket and tone it down for John with a pair of simple black Gucci classic tailored trousers, a white Gucci button down shirt, a black bow tie, and a pair of black leather Gucci lace up dress shoes to ensure it still feels authentic to his style while paying tribute to Elton.Kesha’s out there style definitely fits into the Elton John aesthetic, but for Tuesday night’s concert I decided to go for bold color over explosions of embellishments and details. I definitely think that this hot pink Gucci silk high neck silk maxi gown that I think that Kesha would be drawn to, and Elton is a friend of the house of Gucci, and I think that the color is just enough to make for a really great moment for Kesha on this red carpet. The oversized style of this gown is definitely something we have seen Kesha rock in the past, and I think that this gown would totally work. I think that with a large pink high bun updo, a thick smokey eye, nude lips, metallic hot pink Casadei open toe platform sandals, and a Gucci ‘Broadway’ glitter resin heart shaped minaudiere that Kesha would definitely be weird and fashionable all at the same time. Rising country star Maren Morris has definitely been one that I have kept my eyes on as she has started to become one to watch on the red carpets. She keeps upping her style game, thanks to hiring a new stylist, and making higher end choices for the designers that she wears on the red carpet. I went back to the Francesco Scognamiglio Spring 2018 RTW collection, which she actually wore for the 2017 CMA Awards (the silver dress in the picture above,) but I think that this black furry coat layered over a black t-shirt dress which features a bold abstract print would be a fun look for this red carpet. I don’t think that this night will be all about gowns, and this is the kind of look that I think that Maren would totally turn this into a really chic moment for this red carpet. Add a sleek hairstyle, bold defined eyes, rose pink lips, and a pair of black Oscar Tiye ‘Malikah’ velvet sandals to really ensure that this is a real look for Maren. Miley Cyrus is performing on the Grammy Awards stage with Elton tonight and will be on hand to perform at the “Elton John: I’m Still Standing-A GRAMMY Salute” on Tuesday. For tonight’s performance with Elton I went to a Gucci look that was inspired by one of his stage costumes, like I did for John Legend, but for Tuesday I went to an original Bob Mackie design, who also helped dress Elton back in the day. This funky vintage Bob Mackie evening gown is fully sequined and beaded on a sheer black fabric and has multi-colored arrows pointing upward from the high low hem which features ostrich feather plumes dangling from beaded strips is definitely something I can see Miley being drawn to, and I think that it would be a perfect red carpet moment for an event honoring Elton John. The very 80’s glam statement of this gown would definitely need a chic updo, smokey eye, light pink lips, a pair of simple black Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong’ sandals, and a pink sapphire and diamond Piaget ear cuff to really bring this look together in a really modern way for this red carpet. As I have said a few times I get very up and down with my feelings on Miranda Lambert’s style and I am hoping that Tuesday she will deliver something very chic on this red carpet. I think that red Pamella Roland Pre-Fall 2018 draped gown which features a plunging neckline, caped train, daring split, and delicate beaded embroidery would be a really beautiful moment for her. I don’t think that this look evokes the spirit of Elton John as much as other looks on this list, but I do think that it is perfect for Miranda. She isn’t one for much frills and over the top styles, so I think that this would be a great opportunity to deliver something really chic and glamorous. I did add a bit of kitsch to this look via a red Judith Leiber Couture guitar shaped crystal embellished clutch to pay homage to Miranda’s country music roots. I would add a loose updo, smokey eye, nude lip, red velvet RAYE ‘Blake’ sandals, and a pair of mid-century Beladora diamond spray earrings to round this look out in the most glamorous way possible. With Keith Urban performing at the “Elton John: I’m Still Standing-A GRAMMY Salute” concert I am hoping that we see his gorgeous wife Nicole Kidman, on the red carpet or at least inside. Nicole is always a favorite to see on the red carpet and she always looks beautiful when she is putting the effort in to support Keith. Like Elton Nicole loves herself some Gucci on the red carpet and I think that she would look so incredibly chic wearing this dark violet Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 velvet midi dress which features full length puffy sleeves, a plunging neckline, and crystal floral embellishments. As a guest I think that this is a really chic moment, that is incredibly beautiful and perfect for a Nicole to wear as a guest on Tuesday night. Add a chic loose updo, simple defined eyes, a punchy pink lip, and a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi plexi/metallic leather sandals to ensure this look is perfection from head to toe.

“Elton John: I’m Still Standing-A GRAMMY Salute” will take place on Tuesday January 30, 2018 and will air on CBS later this year.

2018 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

Well with the 2018 Grammy Awards set to take place tomorrow night I have hit my final wish list for this years red carpet. I am really excited to see what everyone, both male and female, will bring to the red carpet. Today we have a bunch of wishes for stars who will be presenting at this years ceremony. The stars who are presenting have a really great spectrum of style and I am really interested in seeing what they all will bring to the red carpet tomorrow night. Kicking things off today is Anna Kendrick, who is coming off the release of the final installment of the Pitch Perfect trilogy last month. For the most part Anna kept a really low profile last year, and when she did step out on the red carpet I wasn’t a huge fan of the looks that she did wear. That was really disappointing for me because I know that she has the potential to make some really great moments on the red carpet. As a Grammy’s presenter in the past we haven’t seen Anna make waves with her style, and I don’t expect her to bring a major couture gown or even a gown at all to the red carpet tomorrow night. Instead I thought that this mauve Tom Ford silk sequined shift dress which features a tiered lace trim hem would be a good option for her to bring to the Grammy’s red carpet. I think that this simple, yet dazzling dress is exactly what a film star should wear as a presenter at the Grammy’s. It is simple and sexy, but with a dash of fun. I would have Anna wear her hair in full voluminous old Hollywood waves, a smokey, nude lips, a medium grey Tom Ford ‘T-Lock’ medium python tassel detailed clutch, a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong’ sandals, and an edgy black rhodium set Repossi diamond ear cuff to really make this look perfect for the Grammy Awards. Rapper Eve isn’t one that I feel we hear a lot about anymore. Back in the early 2000’s she was on Grammy red carpets wearing uber sexy micro mini dresses. Now her style has evolved to be more chic, but still really sexy and that is why I thought that this vibrant violet purple Hamel by Melinda Harris fitted gown which features a side split with illusion paneling and dramatic fringe would be a perfect look for Eve to wear on the Grammy’s red carpet. Hamel is a sexy brand that has been loved by Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Lopez, and Laverne Cox but hasn’t had a major Grammy Awards moment yet and I do think that Eve in this gown would give that major moment that this gown deserves. I found a pair of purple satin Tom Ford pointed toe pumps that I think would compliment this gown perfectly. Add a sleek hairstyle, purple smokey eyes, light pink glossy lips, and a selection of Jacob & Co. jewels including a statement diamond drop earrings and an amethyst and diamond cocktail ring to really make this head to toe perfection.I picked some hot off the runway Chanel Couture for HAIM to wear on the Grammy Awards red carpet that I posted yesterday, but then it was announced that Hailee Steinfeld was going to be presenting and I decided that I would rather her bring Chanel Couture to the Grammy’s red carpet tomorrow night. I think that this silver and grey beaded Chanel Spring 2018 Couture sleeveless jumpsuit which features POCKETS would be a really great Grammy’s moment and that Hailee would really make it come to life on the red carpet. I won’t lie that Kristen Stewart was the first person that came to mind when I saw this jumpsuit on the runway, but I definitely think that Hailee would do this look just as much (if not more) justice on the red carpet. A sleek high ponytail, statement grey smokey eyes, a rose pink lip, silver Christian Louboutin ‘Follies Strass’ glitter and crystal embellished sandals, and a statement Messika diamond ear cuff all would make sure that Hailee shuts down this red carpet. As you know I have been throwing more menswear into my wish lists, and the men of music love to play with fashion. Harry Styles, who will present tomorrow night at the Grammy Awards, took three spots on my Best Dressed Men of 2017 list, and I am hoping that he will bring just as many moments to the red carpets this year as well. I would love to see Harry be the first to bring Givenchy Couture menswear to the red carpet. While I was watching the Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture show and I saw a male model make his entrance onto the runway I got REALLY excited. Couture has been a women’s game and I love that Clare Waight Keller was one of a small handful of designers to put menswear on a couture runway. I think that this blue and green embellished tuxedo jacket paired with black crocodile leather pants would look really great on Harry, especially for an event like the Grammy Awards. I would however swap the runways sheer shirt for a simple black Givenchy embellished collar button up (with two or three buttons undone.) Add a pair of black patent Givenchy ‘Cruz’ studded sole derby shoes and his signature tousled waves to really ensure that this look just screams glam rock.John Legend is another dude with great style and I am interested in seeing what he will wear on the Grammy red carpet tomorrow night. I already picked a really chic and sexy Cushnie et Ochs gown for his wife Chrissy Teigan to wear the other day and I wanted to make sure that his look complimented hers. I went for a bold tuxedo jacket with this black and white leopard print Tom Ford Spring 2018 Menswear sequin embellished tuxedo jacket which features black silk shawl lapels and cuffs. I definitely think that this is a great Grammy’s tuxedo, and with the black pants, white shirt, and black bow tie from the lookbook paired with a pair of black Louis Leeman leather woven loafers and a MontBlanc ‘Timewalker Chronograph 103094’ watch all would make this look a really major moment on the Grammy Awards red carpet. And last but not least is the beautiful Katie Holmes. Ever since her divorce from Tom Cruise we have see, Katie really make strides back to great style on the red carpet. In the last year she has had some really amazing fun with fashion and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the Grammy’s red carpet tomorrow night. Two years ago I never would have seen Katie take this black Valentino Pre-Fall 2018 mini dress which features gold polka dots and feathered sleeves wearing this dress, but I think that in the here and now that this would be a really fun and chic moment on the Grammy’s red carpet from her. I think that the dress is such a statement that I would just add a sleek hairstyle, bold red lips, simple black lined eyes, and a pair of black satin Valentino ‘PopFlowers’ beaded sandals to let the dress be the focus of this look.

The 2018 Grammy Awards will take place tomorrow Sunday January 28, 2018.
