2018 Academy Awards: Presenters Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

There are so many stars who are attending this years Academy Awards. Every day new presenters, performers, and guests get announced and I feel like we are in store for a really major night of glamour this Sunday. I feel like after an awards season filled with protest that stars are ready to let loose and really have fun with glamour this weekend. Ashley Judd is one of the most prominent faces in the #MeToo movement and I applaud her bravery. We will see her on the red carpet on Sunday night as a presenter at this years Oscars and I am really hoping for an incredibly beautiful moment on the red carpet. The last time Ashley was on the Oscars red carpet was back in 2001 and times have changed. In most of her recent appearances Ashley has worn ready to wear designs, but for her return to the Oscars red carpet I would love to see Ashley do so in a major moment. I feel like if she stepped out wearing this blueish grey Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture a-line gown which features gold beaded embroidery, a plunging neckline, velvet belted waist, and a feathered skirt that we would have this major moment that I am praying for. I don’t know if Ashley is going to go big or go home, but I definitely think that this gown would make for a beautiful moment for her. Add old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, simple defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of gold Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong’ glitter sandals, and Martin Katz jewels including a pair of champagne and yellow diamond drop earrings and an 18k gold and diamond lattice link bracelet to really ensure this look is head to toe perfection. I had a sneaking suspicion that Emily Blunt would be presenting at the Oscars when she perched herself front row at the Dior Couture show in January and then the Michael Kors show a few months ago. Dior is the obvious choice, but for Sunday night’s red carpet I went to the latter. I saw this black Michael Kors Fall 2018 RTW pannier dress which features a square neckline, a ruffle starting at the hips, and allover silver crystal embroidery as a cocktail dress, but my first thought was make it floor length and it would be the perfect Oscar gown. It was honestly any of the stars frow (Blake Lively and Zendaya) at the Michael Kors show could snatch this cocktail dress off the runway, but I feel like Emily was the only one who could make this gown come to life on the red carpet. She has the classic elegance and glamour that I know would really make this a major moment on the Oscars red carpet. A chic high bun, defined eyes, red lips, an emerald Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ marbled plexi clutch, black Jimmy Choo ‘Betty’ crystal embellished sandals, and a whole selection of Harry Winston jewels including a pair of diamond and emerald drop earrings, a statement emerald and diamond cocktail ring, and swapping the crystal bow on the waist for a diamond and emerald brooch would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Emily making it Oscars ready. To be honest I was less than thrilled when I saw Gina Rodriguez was going to be one of the many presenters on Sunday night. She doesn’t have a stellar track record, but I am hoping that on the occasion of her first Oscars as a presenter that she will rise to the occasion. I was originally looking for something simple for Gina to wear, but then I saw this deep red Badgley Mischka Fall 2018 RTW strapless, floral embroidered ballgown. This is a truly statement making moment, and I feel like if Gina really wants to play ball against some of the biggest style stars in the world that this is exactly what she should bring to the red carpet on Sunday. It would be total perfection with a pair of crimson velvet and patent leather Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Betty’ platform sandals, old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, matching crimson lips, and IVY New York ‘Cascada’ ruby and moonstone chandelier earrings. Lupita Nyong’o has always delivered on the Oscars red carpet, but it has been a hot minute since she’s been a guest at the Academy Awards. I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet this Sunday. Lupita does color extremely well. She isn’t afraid of making a bold statement that’s for sure. I would love to see her step out this weekend wearing this red Rodarte Fall 2018 RTW gown which features a black sequin embroidered floral bustier with a sweetheart neckline and a black polka dotted high waist skirt with a full length ruffle detail and a center back slit. I saw the midi version of this gown in the brands Fall 2018 RTW lookbook (modeled by Chloe & Halle) and thought it would be a really great moment for Lupita. It’s definitely more of a flirty approach to feminine glamour than we have seen Lupita deliver on the Oscars red carpet in the past, but I definitely think that she would shut the red carpet down in this design. I would go full glam with a pair of red Francesco Russo stiletto sandals, simple hair, smokey eyes, bold red lips, and a selection of Ara Vartanian jewels including a pair of ruby and diamond drop earrings and a ruby and diamond cocktail ring to really ensure that Lupita shuts this gown down.Finishing off today’s wishes is a really out there and unexpected wish for the gorgeous Nicole Kidman. Last year I correctly predicted the embroidered nude Armani Prive gown that Nicole rocked on the Oscars red carpet. I don’t have the same faith I had last year in this years wish, but it would be a really major moment. I think that Nicole would shut the red carpet down giving us a glam take on menswear wearing this black Giorgio Armani Fall 2018 RTW suit which features silver, fuchsia, and teal crystal embellishments. On the Oscars red carpet lady pants are not really something we see very often. It is definitely a risk, but I think that with all of the fashion cred that Nicole has rocked over the last year or so that she could make it work. Bare chested with a sleek updo, defined eyes, pink lips, black satin Gianvito Rossi pumps, and a pair of art deco Fred Leighton diamond cluster earrings I know that this would be a truly major moment.

The 2018 Academy Awards are Sunday March 4, 2018!

2018 Academy Awards: Presenters Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

The Oscars are just four days away now and with each passing day I get another press release sent to me from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that gets me more and more excited. I have mentioned several times that I think that this year is going to be the most glamorous ever. From the stars confirmed to attend to the clothes that are coming down the runways of New York, London, Paris, and Milan there is just no stopping my excitement for Sunday nights red carpet. Last years Best Actress winner Emma Stone will be on the Oscars red carpet again this year as a presenter of the Best Actor award. Emma is always one of my favorites to see on the red carpet, but with her contract with Louis Vuitton in full swing I am getting really fatigued with seeing her in LV look after LV look. She was one who played with designers and styles, but with this Vuitton ambassador ship I am finding that none of her looks have been really memorable. That is why I bucked the brand for my wish for Emma to rock on Sunday nights red carpet. I totally think that Emma could take this black J. Mendel Fall 2018 RTW mermaid gown which features a scoop neckline, thin straps, sheer detail throughout, floral embroidery, and a fitted silhouette and make it a major moment. I don’t think that Emma has worn a silhouette like this in the past, but I think that it would be a really bold statement from her. Sometimes shape can make bold statements instead of color, print, or embellishments. I didn’t completely remove Louis Vuitton from Emma’s Oscar night ensemble adding a pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Vanity’ platform sandals which feature a stunning interpretation of the Monogram pattern in glittering strass crystal embellishment and a statement Louis Vuitton High Jewelry diamond and citrine collar necklace. I think that with those statement accessories, a romantic updo, smokey eyes, and a deep red lip that this would be a really chic moment for Emma’s return to the Oscars stage.I was kinda surprised that Gal Gadot was announced as a presenter at this years Oscars since Wonder Woman was completely shut out. I am really excited to see what Gal will wear on Sunday at her first Academy Awards. She delivers really major moments on the red carpet, but also knows how to do glam and still let the focus be on the nominees of the night. I would love to see Gal snatch this black one shoulder Dolce & Gabbana Secret Show Fall 2018 gown which features all over crystal embellishments, a draped column silhouette, and a big pouf and a crystal embellishment detail on the shoulder off its Milanese runway and bring it to life on the Oscars red carpet. Dolce started showing these ‘Secret Shows’ the night before their official presentation during Milan Fashion Week last season and they tend to hold better red carpet potential. This gown is another perfect example of a statement making gown devoid of any color and I definitely think that Gal is one of the few who could really sell it to me on the red carpet. Style it with a sleek low bun, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black Dolce & Gabbana rhinestone encrusted sandals, and a selection of Harry Winston diamonds including small cluster earrings and an art deco floral spray cuff bracelet to really ensure that this look is head to toe perfection.Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Kelly Marie Tran will follow in the footsteps of Daisy Ridley and represent the film and present at the Academy Awards this weekend. She has been making some of the awards season rounds presenting at the SAG Awards and attending The Hollywood Reporter’s Nominees Night party. Her style has continued to evolve, and for her first Oscars red carpet I went back to the designer who dressed her for the London premiere of The Last Jedi, Bibhu Mohapatra. The Indian born, New York based designer has never had an Oscar night moment (at the ceremony or the after parties) and I feel like after some gorgeous gowns that came down the brands Fall 2018 RTW runway during New York Fashion Week that his time has come. I went for big volume and bold color with this fuchsia Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2018 RTW ballgown which features a sleeveless color blocked bodice with orange embroidery and a full ball skirt. It could be a really bold moment, but it has to be done right. I don’t want Kelly to look short and/or stout so the way the gown is tailored for her would be incredibly key. Where the waist line seem hits has to hit in just the right spot. I do think that her stylists Wayman and Michah have the people and connections to really make this look perfect for Kelly. A pair of matching fuchsia pink Jimmy Choo ‘Lancer’ strappy pumps, a sleek updo, defined smokey glitter eyes, a rose pink lip, and a pair of Jason of Beverly Hills ‘The Flower’ white diamond and pink ruby stud earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this bold moment. One of the guys who I am really interested in seeing on Sunday night is Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland. The young actor definitely has a strong sense of style, and could be along the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Timothee Chalamet, and Ansel Elgort. I went for a really bold style for Tom to rock on Sunday night. I definitely think he could take this bold red Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2018 Menswear tuxedo which features black details on the collar, buttons, and tuxedo stripes. It may or may not be too bold for the Oscars red carpet, especially on a young rising star, but it would get people talking. I would style this tuxedo with a crisp white shirt, black skinny tie, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Charlie Me Flat’ in black agora leather with decorative broguing and a Loubi red lined lug sole to really ensure that this look is just statement making enough to make this the best menswear moment of the night. Tom’s Spider-Man: Homecoming co-star Zendaya is also presenting this Sunday at the Oscars. This isn’t the first time Zendaya has been a guest at the Oscars, but it will be the first time that she is a presenter. The last time Zendaya was on the Oscars red carpet a lot of controversy came when on Fashion Police Giuliana Rancic said “The hair to me on her is making her a little more boho. Like I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed.” Referring to the fact that Zendaya paired her Vivienne Westwood gown with dreadlocks. I thought that was a chic moment, but I want bold style and glamour for her first appearance as a presenter at the Academy Awards this year. I usually don’t associate the kitschy glam of Moschino with the Oscars. I usually think of Grammy’s or the Met Gala, but when I saw this mint Moschino Fall 2018 RTW gown come gown the runway the Oscars red carpet immediately came to mind. Earlier that day the AMPAS had sent out a press released which announced a slew of presenters including Zendaya so when I saw Gigi Hadid take to the Moschino runway Zendaya’s Oscar gown immediately came to mind. I think the stunning butterfly gown that Zendaya wore for the Australian premiere of The Greatest Showman really had an impact on my decision to pick this gown for her to rock on Sunday night’s red carpet. The gown is such a statement on it’s own that the right styling will be pertinent to really making this a head to toe major moment. A sleek 60’s inspired updo, defined winged eyes, bright pink lips, a pair of silver Giuseppe Zanotti crystal embellished slingback sandals, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. opal, aquamarine, and tsavorite jewels would all ensure this look is head to toe perfection.

2018 Academy Awards: Presenters Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The Academy Awards are just FIVE days away, and I am really excited to see what all of the stars are going to bring to the red carpet this year. I have been slowly excited about what the runways of New York, London, and Milan recently and I feel like some great custom gowns from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Armani, Dior, and Versace. I feel like the from the female stars to the men that this year is going to be the best Oscar night ever! Coming off of a major promo tour for Black Panther Chadwick Boseman will be one of the many presenters over the course of the Black Panther tour Chadwick gave major jacket envy with a statement Asian silk printed Emporio Armani double breasted suit jacket at the LA premiere and a black and midnight blue Givenchy velvet tiger stripe coat in London. On Sunday night I went to a more classic look, but something still elevated with this ink blue velvet Brunello Cucinelli Fall 2018 Menswear three piece tuxedo which features a shawl collar single button blazer, double breasted shawl collar vest, and tapered silk stripe tuxedo pants. This is a statement look because on the Oscars red carpet we tend to see men stick to black and navy silk tuxedos, occasionally a white dinner jacket makes an appearance. I think that if Chadwick showed up in head to toe velvet that he would deliver a really chic menswear moment on the Oscars red carpet. Keeping the white tuxedo shirt and black silk bow tie, and adding a pair of black patent leather Jimmy Choo ‘Axel’ derbies which feature silver-tone star and stud details on the soles would all ensure that Chadwick really delivers a chic, yet statement making, menswear moment on the Oscars red carpet. Jennifer Garner isn’t the most groundbreaking style star. She usually delivers very chic, but classic styles on the Oscars red carpet. (Though there was the unexpected statement Gucci Premiere gown in 2013.) So when I was looking for the perfect gown for Jennifer to wear on the Oscars red carpet this Sunday, where she will be a presenter. I would love to see Jennifer show up giving classic elegance on the red carpet with this black velvet Oscar de la Renta Fall 2018 RTW strapless column gown which features silver leaf motif beading on the bodice. The gown itself isn’t something to write home to mamma about. It is a classic statement of glamour, but I know that is when Jennifer shines the brightest. I feel like with a chic updo, defined smokey eyes, red lips, a black DSquared2 jeweled clutch, a pair of black velvet Paul Andrew buckled sandals, and a selection of statement Tiffany & Co. ‘Blue Book’ jewels including a modern diamond collar necklace and a statement diamond bracelet would ensure that this is a really major moment for Jennifer. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors representative from the actors branch Laura Dern was someone I was expecting to be announced as a presenter for Sunday’s and of course she was. In the past Laura has worn some really chic gowns from Roberto Cavalli, Alberta Ferretti, and Rodarte. But none of them were really memorable moments. Over the last year Laura has been taking more and more risks on the red carpet. I went for something along the lines of her past gowns, but I think that Laura wearing this deep purple Zac Posen Fall 2018 RTW beaded gown which features a column silhouette, v-neck, draped back, beaded details, and a pleated skirt would make for a chic moment on the Oscars red carpet. Laura isn’t one of the stars who I expect really big and dramatic gowns from and I think she would be drawn to this chic gown for the Oscars red carpet. Add a burgundy Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ marbled plexi clutch, black Aquazzura ‘Very Holli’ strappy sandals, romantic updo, defined eyes, burgundy lips, and a pair of Cartier diamond chandelier earrings to really ensure that this is a major moment for Laura. Tiffany Haddish helped Andy Serkis announce the 2018 Oscar nominations last month and I am really interested in seeing what she will wear on her first Oscars red carpet where she will act as a presenter. Over the course of awards season Tiffany has been a topic of conversation since people seem to view her performance in Girls Trip as one of the biggest snubs at the Globes and SAGs. I have to say that she might not have gotten any nominations, but Tiffany is definitely living her best life right now and I am really excited to see what she will bring on Sunday (from both her wardrobe and what will come out of her mouth.) I went for a glam, statement making look with this deep purple Pamella Roland Pre-Fall 2018 strapless gown which features a corseted bodice and a fully ruffled a-line skirt with a dramatic train. We haven’t seen many designers embrace Tiffany yet, but I am feeling that with her high profile and upcoming MTV Movie & Television Awards hosting gig  I think that more and more brands will start to embrace her. I think that this chic Pamella Roland gown would be a dramatic moment, perfect for a presenter. It’s statement making, but isn’t something that would take away thunder from any of the nominees. I would style the look with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, black cherry red lips, a pair of plum velvet Charlotte Olympia ‘Diana’ platform sandals, and statement Jacob & Co. diamond chandelier earrings to really ensure this is Tiffany’s most major moment yet. Last years Best Supporting Actress winner Viola Davis will be on hand this year to present the award for Best Supporting Actor this year. Viola is always a favorite of mine and I am praying that she delivers a major color moment on Sunday’s red carpet. After all the blackouts this awards season color is my biggest wish and Viola knows how to deliver color unlike most. She isn’t one who usually wears bright prints, but just rich, bold, punchy colors. So when I was looking for a really major moment for Viola to rock on the Oscars red carpet I fell in love with this aquamarine Carolina Herrera Fall 2018 RTW draped gown. The simplistic glamour of this gown is made extremely bold by the color of this design. I know that Viola would take this gown and really ensure it is a really major moment. A silver-tone metallic fibre ‘Celeste’ clutch bag and a pair of silver lamé ‘Lang’ sandals from Jimmy Choo, a romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, and a selection of Van Cleef & Arpels jewels including statement aquamarine and diamond earrings and a sculpted diamond bow cuff bracelet would all ensure that this is a really major moment from Viola.
