Cannes 2018: “Everybody Knows” Photocall & Opening Ceremony Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

A week and a day from now the 2018 Cannes Film Festival will officially be under way. Get ready for non-stop glamour and fashion as a week from today is the Met Gala. This years the Cannes Film Festival will open with a gala screening of Everybody Knows which is the latest film by superstar film couple Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem. Usually the opening ceremony is glittered with stars, and not just the ones in the film or on the jury, but with the Met Gala the night before I wonder if some of the stars we usually see on the Cannes opening ceremony red carpet will choose the famed NYC red carpet over the famed red carpet in Cannes. I hope that the festival, which is usually front loaded with stars, will see the glamizons more evenly distributed. Don’t fear thought, even if no one else attends the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony that there will still be plenty of glamour on the red carpet. Penelope Cruz is always a favorite of mine and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. She knows how to give glamour and I have high expectations for what she will bring to the festival this year. I went to three of Penelope’s favorite brands for the perfect looks for her to wear this year. I think that for the photocall that this ivory window pane print Ralph & Russo Fall 2018 RTW sleeveless midi dress which features a v-neck, scarf detail, and a belted waist would be a really chic moment. It isn’t couture but still the perfect look. I do wonder if it would be too similar to the Ralph & Russo Couture suit that Fan Bingbing wore for the Cannes jury photocall last year, because of the print, but I think that the styles are so different that it wouldn’t be a problem at all. I went round and round on the styling for this look. I had a hard time picking the right shoes, but ultimately I think that a pair of black glitter and pink patent Christian Louboutin ‘Fetish Peep Sling’ peep toe slingback pumps would be the right choice. I wasn’t sure that Penelope would go with a pair of platform tranny shoes, but these were the only shoes I think would be perfect for Penelope and this dress. For the premiere I went back into the Atelier Versace archives to this gold lamé Atelier Versace Spring 2008 Couture draped gown which features a halter neck, beaded embellishments, an open back, and an a-line skirt. Most of this collection, which is arguably one of my favorite Atelier Versace collections, has been worn at one point or another but I think that this gown is beautiful and I definitely think that Penelope would be the perfect person to snatch this gown out of the archive and finally give it a red carpet moment 10 years after it was first presented. I feel like with a sleek 60’s inspired updo, simple defined eyes, red lips, a pair of light gold Christian Louboutin ‘Very Rete’ gold mesh peep toe pumps, and a selection of gold set diamond and ruby Chopard ‘Byzantine’ collection jewels including a pair of drop earrings and a cocktail ring that this look would be head to toe perfection. I picked a third look for Penelope to wear after the premiere for the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony after party dinner with this black and blue Balmain Fall 2018 RTW sequined mixed print cocktail dress which features a mock neck and mini length hem. This disco glam moment is a perfect party ensemble. Some stars will swap their premiere gowns for a shorter look for the dinner and I definitely think that Penelope would look chic in this cocktail dress, but I also think that it could be a really glamorous moment as a custom gown too especially when paired with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass PVC’ pumps, a looser updo, with smokey eyes, red lips, and Chopard diamond cluster earrings. When we usually see Spanish actress Barbara Lennie, who stars alongside Javier & Penelope in Everybody Knows, we usually see her in off the rack gowns. I know that Cannes isn’t really the place for off the rack and if you are in one of the films being presented you can basically have your selection of options. Big brands like Elie Saab and major PR agencies like Karla Otto set up suites in Cannes to loan out clothes, jewelry, and accessories to stars who are promoting films and products in Cannes. For the films photocall I picked this rose pink silk and cotton blend Stella McCartney dress which features a round neck, embroidered details, beaded embroidery, short sleeves, a shift silhouette and a short length for Barbara. It is really simple and elegant and I think that when you’re going up against someone like Penelope that you would rather execute glamour perfectly than go for over done and that is exactly what I think Barbara would deliver with this look. I would compliment the beading around the neck with a pair of red satin Aquazzura ‘Forever Marilyn’ tassel detail pumps, a romantic updo, and simple makeup would all make this the perfect photocall moment for Barbara. For the premiere I kept the pink idea going a little bit picking this black Gucci peplum gown which features a pink satin bow, crystal trimmed v-neck, and sweeping train. It is a really glamorous gown and I think that it isn’t exactly on the same level as the Atelier Versace gown I picked for Penelope that it would still be a beautiful and complimentary moment for Barbara. I kept the styling within the Gucci family as well with a pink brocade Gucci ‘Broadway’ clutch embellished with a red crystal heart and a pair of black Gucci patent leather sandals. A romantic updo, smokey eyes, matching pink lips, and a pair of Chopard diamond chandelier earrings all would really ensure that this is a beautiful moment for the Cannes red carpet for Barbara. Spanish actress Inma Cuesta has been to Cannes before so she knows how to do a premiere moment, but she has never attended an opening ceremony. I feel like Inma has more of a high fashion background, but I am really interested in seeing what she will bring. For the Everybody Knows photocall I turned to a brand we have seen on many Spanish red carpets in the past, Andrew Gn. While I went with light colors for Inma’s co-stars I would love to see her bring this moody violet Andrew Gn Fall 2018 RTW turtleneck mini dress which  features a black and green embroidered bodice, bell sleeves, and a pleated skirt to bring the dark glamour to this photocall. It’s definitely in contrast to the looks I picked for Penelope and Barbara, but I think that it would still be very complimentary to those looks as well. The dress as presented on the runway is very fall like, but with the right styling I do think that this wouldn’t be a heavy out of season look. I think that swapping the black velvet boots on the runway for a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘April’ platform sandals and adding a romantic updo, and a purple smokey eye would all ensure that Inma is ready to take that platform with ease and elegance. For the premiere I went to a Spanish brand for the perfect gown for Inma to rock on this red carpet. I wanted glamour and drama, but not something overly dramatic to upstage the Atelier Versace gown I’ve picked for Penelope and that is exactly what I’ve found with this rose pink The 2nd Skin Co. Fall 2017 RTW draped gown which features a dramatic asymmetrical sequin bow detail one shoulder neckline. I love the glamour of this gown and I definitely believe that from what I’ve seen on Inma’s style that she would definitely be able to sell this gown to me on the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony premiere red carpet. I would add a sleek yet romantic updo, smokey eyes, matching pink lips, a pink silk Bottega Veneta woven clasp clutch, rose pink Gucci ‘Isle’ jeweled satin sandals, and a pair of De Grisogono pink rubellite and diamond ear clips to really ensure this look is head to toe perfection. The only red carpets at the festival we are guaranteed to see the jury of the official selection are the opening and closing ceremonies. I am really excited to see what the whole jury has in store, but I am most excited to see this years jury president Cate Blanchett own as many red carpets as possible. For the opening ceremony I dove into the Armani Prive archives. I was hoping for loads of options right off the Spring 2018 Couture runway, but that didn’t happen as the collection was chock full of short shorts and mini dresses. I went back to the same collection that Cate wore a gown from at the festival back in 2008 for the premiere of Limitless, the Armani Prive Spring 2008 Couture collection. Armani was the first brand I searched the archives of for Cate to rock this year and when I saw this white 3-D floral origami one shoulder ball gown I knew I had found the perfect gown for Cate to wear for the opening ceremony. I watched the runway video of this collection and the way the light hits the hand cut paillettes strewn about the gown was just breathtaking and while looking at this gown you would think that it would move very structured the way the layers of organza rose and fell on the runway just added to the glamour of this look. The gown is such a statement on it’s own that I would keep the styling very simple adding a romantic updo, smokey eye, nude lips, silver Prada pointed toe pumps, and a pair of simple Chopard diamond cluster earrings to really allow the glamour and elegance of this look for Cate to really own her first actual red carpet at the festival. Often we see a jury member or two attend the opening ceremony after-party dinner and Cate is the only one whom I have taken the opportunity to do a wardrobe change. Sometimes jury members change and sometimes they don’t. I love Cate and her style so much that I decided I wanted to feature as many looks for her to wear over the course of the festival as possible. So I went from archive collections to current runway picking this dark green Erdem Fall 2018 RTW Victoriana inspired midi dress which features poufy cap sleeves, intricate beaded embroidery, keyhole at the neckline, ruched bodice, peplum waist, and a side split. This is definitely a dress that it would take a special woman to wear on the red carpet and Cate is definitely the perfect person who would make this a glamorous moment for this gala dinner. A pair of metallic green Oscar Tiye ‘Malikah’ sandals, keeping the same hair and makeup as the premiere, and adding a pair of vintage Van Cleef & Arpels diamond and emerald earrings would all ensure that this is the perfect third look of the day for Cate. I love Ava DuVernay. She is sooooooo chic and knows how to rock the glam while being completely modest. I am really interested in seeing what Ava will bring to this years festival. Usually the jury of the Cannes Film Festival is full of people who have had projects screened at Cannes before, but Ava will be making her Cannes debut this year as a member of the jury. I honestly believe that most, if not all, of the looks that Ava will wear over the course of the festival this year will be custom, but for this opening ceremony red carpet I went to the Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2018 and this dusty rose Reem Acra mikado scuba ball gown which features a rounded neckline, long sleeves, dramatic train, and detachable red satin back bow detail. This is exactly what we are used to seeing from Ava. It is statement making, yet completely covered and I really do believe that for the opening ceremony red carpet that Ava would own this gown. Style it with a high bun of braids, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Nadira Crystal’ pumps, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and ruby chandelier earrings to ensure head to toe perfection. Most people will say that Kristen Stewart is the juror that they are most excited to see this year. The former Twilight star is a fixture in Cannes having walked the the festival red carpet almost every year over the last six years. So it makes sense that she has earned a place on this years jury. As a face of Chanel it would surprise me that Kristen will wear anything but Chanel for the 2018 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony. She has opted to pick hot off the runway looks the last 3 years wearing Chanel cruise collection looks, but we are still three days away from the new collections presentation I decided to hit up the latest couture collection for a look for Kristen to rock. I definitely think that Kristen would take this cream Chanel Spring 2018 Couture beaded lace halter gown which features a sheer organza floor length beaded tulle skirt over a short lace skirt and faux button details. I think that this gown is very chic and has the perfect mesh of glamour and edge which I think Kristen would be drawn too. It isn’t very often I love a Kristen Stewart red carpet moment, but I do believe that she will rise to the occasion in Cannes this year. This gown would help her do just that. Where we usually loose Kristen with her red carpet looks, I think, is her hair and makeup. They either come across as too overdone or really messy. I think that a sleek hairstyle, simple defined eyes, and pink lips would be the perfect complimentary beauty routine for this look. With a pair of gold multi tone glitter Casadei ‘Blade’ cut out detail peep toe pumps and a pair of Chanel Haute Jewelry diamond and pearl drop earrings I think that this would be one of Kristen’s best red carpet moments ever. Lea Seydoux has had some of her best fashion moments in Cannes and was one of the members of my dream Cannes jury so I was really excited to see her announced as one of the members of the official selection main competition jury. I have been left dying for the days of old Lea since she signed a contract to be a face of Louis Vuitton back in January of 2016. For two straight years we have exclusively seen Lea wearing Louis Vuitton, and I am hoping that over the course of this years festival that we see Lea wear looks breaking out of the French fashion house. I do believe however that Lea would be on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony wearing a custom Louis Vuitton gown. There are no formal options from any of the current Louis Vuitton collections, so I started thinking of what I would like to see Lea wearing. I started going through recent LV collections to find motifs, patterns, embellishments, and fabrics. For her custom opening ceremony gown I went to one of my favorite Louis Vuitton prints with this grey sequin plaid from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2017 RTW collection and I put it on a very glamorous off the shoulder ball gown. The fabric is very structured so I can really see this being an absolutely beautiful moment for Lea to bring this custom gown to life on the red carpet. I would love to see Lea style this gown with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, black lace Christian Louboutin ‘Follies Lace’ pointed toe pumps, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection statement sapphire and diamond earrings to really ensure that this is one of the most glamorous moments Louis Vuitton has ever had. Chloë Sevigny is on the jury for the side bar selection Cannes Critics Week. So while she wouldn’t be seated along with the main competition jury we usually see members of other juries invited to the festivals opening ceremony. I would love to see Chloë kick off her festival wardrobe in a real statement moment with this lavender Giambattista Valli Spring 2018 Couture avant garde ruffled gown. On most I feel like this gown would come across as a ruffled mess, but I think that the avant garde style that Chloë tends to bring to the red carpet is one of the few who could take this gown really come to life on the red carpet. It is such a statement all on it’s own that I would just pair this gown with a pair of silver Karl Lagerfeld ‘Gala Supernova’ strappy sandals, sleek center parted low bun, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of amethyst and tourmaline Chopard Red Carpet Collection drop earrings to ensure this is a beautiful moment on the red carpet.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: Jury Photocall Red Carpet Wish List

Just one more wish list stand between us and my first premiere wish list of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. The first major photocall on the opening day of Cannes is the one for the main competition jury. It was back on January 4, 2018 when the festival announced that Cate Blanchett would be acting as the president of the main competition that my mind started to wander about who could possibly be on the jury with her. In the world of Times Up and Me Too I wondered if Cannes would be bold enough to do an all female jury. Last year jury member Jessica Chastain called out the festival for it’s representation of women, so I was wondering how they would respond this year with that. The nine person jury might not be all female, but five of those nine are women. This years jury, headed by Blanchett, also features American Actress Kristen Stewart, American writer, director, producer Ava DuVernay, Burundian songwriter, composer, singer Khadja Nin, French actress Lea Seydoux, Chinese actor Chang Chen, French director Robert Guediguian, Canadian director Denis Villeneuve, and Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev. A female dominated jury hasn’t been seen since 2009 when Isabelle Huppert was the jury president and I am looking forward to seeing what all of the ladies on this years jury will bring, but I am going to focus on those whose style I know. When they announced Cate Blanchett as the jury president this year my mind immediately started picking looks for her to wear over the festival. Cate loves fashion and it very well could be that with all the brands Cate has loved that we will not see her don the same brand twice. For the photocall I went to Louis Vuitton for Cate to rock on the famed balcony which over looks the French Riviera. I would love to see Cate take the platform wearing this grey tweed Louis Vuitton Fall 2018 RTW skirt suit which features chain embellishments on the lapel and down the edges of the jacket and fringe embellished leather top with a plunging neckline. This is a really chic and glamorous moment with a bit of an edge and I know that Cate would sell this look to me with ease. I think that with a whispy romantic hairstyle, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of black embroidered lace and nude mesh Gianvito Rossi ‘Giada’ pumps that this would be an absolutely glamorous moment for Cate to officially kick off Cannes in high style. I have a feeling that most of what we see Ava DuVernay bring to the Cannes Film Festival will mostly be custom looks from the brands she loves like Prada, Greta Constantine, and Armani Prive. I pulled a lot of off the rack looks for Ava to wear this year since her MO is very modest, so the off the runway looks I’ve picked for Ava are very few and far between. For the jury photocall I went to a brand I definitely think that would align perfectly with Ava’s sense of style, Marni. It was an easy option for me to pick this multi color and print Marni Fall 2018 RTW satin ensemble which consists of an asymmetrical wrap style blouse and a high wist dual panel skirt with silver buckle detail on the waist. This is the high glam bohemian side of Ava’s style and I definitely think that she would be able to really sell this look to me on the platform overlooking the Riviera especially when styled with her signature braids, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Hill’ strappy pumps. Picking a jury photocall look for Kristen Stewart was the hardest. I had originally picked a white Cushnie et Ochs jumpsuit, and then it was worn. Then I picked a green Cushnie et Ochs jumpsuit, and it was then worn. So I went on a hunt for something we haven’t seen worn on the red carpet before, that fits both Kristen’s style and be bold enough for a Cannes Film Festival jury photocall. I knew I wanted a jumpsuit and I went on a hunt for the perfect one. When I saw this white, black, and gold Halpern sequined tulle jumpsuit which features patchwork prints, a ruffled mock neck, long sleeves, cropped pants with a flared hem I questioned myself for a second. I sent a photo of this look to several of my friends and when they said that it was a great look I felt okay. It is definitely a bold choice, especially for a daytime photocall, but I feel like Kristen would shut it down. With a sleek hairstyle, defied eyes, nude lips, and a pair of gold Le Silla ‘Grace’ crystal embellished sandals I definitely think that Kristen would own this look.Lea Seydoux is a face of Louis Vuitton, but I am praying that she won’t wear the brand wall to wall during the festival this year. She used to be one of my favorites to see on the red carpet. She knows how to do glamour on the red carpet and I am hoping that all of her looks this year will bring back that feeling of love I have for Lea and her style. Since I picked a Louis Vuitton look for Cate I decided to go against the brand picking this gold foil brocade Alexis Mabille Spring 2018 Couture sleeveless trench dress. In Cannes couture at noon is a common practice and I definitely think that Lea is one of the ones who will bring couture to a photocall. I think that the glamour of this look is perfectly in tune with the vibe of the festival and I feel like with a sleek low bun, simple sun kissed makeup, and a pair of brown and gold Louis Vuitton ‘Odyssey’ sandals that Lea would have a great look to kick off the festival.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: Chloë Sevigny Critics Week Jury Wardrobe Wish List

Chloë Sevigny is on the jury of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival Critics Week side bar selection. I am quite interested in seeing what Chloë will bring to the red carpet at this years festival. While she probably won’t be seen on as many red carpets as the feature film jury members, but I am hoping that we see several major moments from the actress on the red carpet over the course of the festival. We’ve seen Chloë bring to life looks from brands like Balenciaga, Chanel, and Alessandra Rich on red carpets during the festival over the years. There are so many designers that Chloë is a friend of that could bring some moments to the festival this year and I am praying that she earns at least one place on my Best of Cannes list. The first look I’ve picked for Chloë to bring to the red carpet at the festival is from a designer we have seen her rock on red carpets before, Alessandra Rich. I love how the designer re-imagined the 40’s and the 80’s and I definitely think that Chloë would own the red carpet at the festival wearing this purple silk satin Alessandra Rich Fall 2018 RTW ruched gown which features long sleeves, a plunging neckline, crystal detailing at the waistline, and a high-low hem with ruffles. This isn’t the typical gown you would expect to see on the red carpet during Cannes, but I definitely think that Chloë would be able to sell it to me. I love the oversized matching clutch and I would totally keep it because it adds another layer to the quirk of the look. Finished with a pair of black Prada crystal heel sandals, sleek low bun, defined eyes, bright red lips, and statement Chopard ‘Garden of Kalahari’ diamond earrings this would definitely be a real statement making moment for Chloë.Chloë has never worn an Elie Saab gown on the red carpet, but what better place than the Cannes Film Festival red carpet to made a partnership with the red carpet king. I would love to see Chloë deliver this 40’s meets Victoriana moment wearing this black Elie Saab Fall 2018 RTW gown which features a velvet bodice, puffy shoulders, long sleeves, intricate gold beaded embroidery, a chiffon skirt with a sexy split. It’s a really glamorous moment and I definitely think that Chloë would own it to the red carpet with a vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a gold Serupi glitter clutch, black Nicholas Kirkwood ‘VV’ pumps, and a pair of vintage gold and diamond cluster earrings.

Gucci is a brand that we have seen Chloë rock on the red carpet several times. She was recently seen front row at the brands Fall 2018 RTW show, but instead of picking a gown from that collection I went to the Gucci Pre-Fall collection for the perfect gown for Chloë to rock on a Cannes red carpet. We don’t often see prints on the Cannes red carpet, but I think that Chloë would definitely be able to bring this yellow and blue floral print Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 long sleeve, bohemian inspired gown which features a crystal embellished bustier. It’s not your typical Cannes gown, but Chloë would be the person to sell it to me. A romantic updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a peacock blue satin Inge Christoper Swarovski crustal embellished lock clutch, nude Gucci patent leather pumps, and a pair of vintage 14k gold set sapphire and diamond earrings from Beladora would all add the perfect finishing touches to this look.

I’m back to designers that Chloë has never worn on the red carpet. I think that she would be one of the few who could take this navy velvet Prabal Gurung Fall 2018 RTW gown which features contrast red tie detailing at the waist and a cape back and really own it on the red carpet. I feel like she would take this very dramatic look and really style it up for the red carpet and the perfect styling for this gown (to me) would be a red Elie Saab clutch, a braided updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Lily of the Valley’ sandals, and vintage ruby and diamond ear clips from Beladora.

The final gown I’ve picked for Chloë to bring to life on a Cannes Film Festival red carpet is probably my favorite and yet another designer she has never worn on the red carpet. I feel like everyone in Cannes should have a Ralph & Russo moment at one point or another. The brand has made a home in Cannes and their dramatic and glamorous designs just fit right in on the steps of the Palais. I think that Chloë would absolutely wow everyone by taking the red carpet in this pale grey Ralph & Russo Fall 2017 Couture a-line gown which features a ruffled neckline, intricate silver embroidery, a tiered ruffle hem, and a sweeping train. This is the most dramatic and stereotypical glamorous of these wishes and I definitely think that Chloë is one of the few people would could really take this gown and sell it to me on the red carpet. It is such a statement that simple styling will be key. A sleek low bun, defined eyes, nude lips, a silver Rodo crystal embellished hard shell clutch, a pair of silver Sophia Webster ‘Coco Crystal’ crystal embellished heel pumps, and Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Collection diamond leaf cluster earrings would all ensure that this look is glamorous perfection from head to toe.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: Jury Dinner Red Carpet Wish List

We have hit my first set of wishes for the jury of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival official selection competition. I am really excited that this years lineup of jurors features heavily on strong women lead by the glamorous Cate Blanchett. My first set of wishes for these gorgeous women is for the traditional jury dinner which takes place at the Hotel Martinez the night before the festival officially opens. This is the first time that all the members of the jury are in the same room. They start getting to know each other. We usually just see stars arrive at this event paparazzi snapped getting out of their car heading into the hotel or from the balcony of the suite where the dinner takes place. We’ve seen past jurors Jessica Chastain wear simple Alexander McQueen, Fan Bingbing wear flirty Chloe, Kristen Dunst brought out Aouadi Couture to the balcony, and Nicole Kidman dazzle in sequin Dior for this event in the past and I am really excited to see what this years ladies will bring.  I am really excited to see what jury president Cate Blanchett has in store for us this year and I am hitting the ground running with her wearing couture for this small event. I know we are going to see Cate rocking quite a bit of Armani Prive over the course of the festival and why not start with the jury dinner. I have always thought that she would look incredibly chic wearing this taupe Armani Prive Fall 2010 Couture skirt suit which features a camel silk cowl neck blouse and I definitely think that this is the perfect look for Cate to meet her jurors wearing. I would style it with loose waves, simple makeup, and a pair of light brown suede Jimmy Choo ‘Lancer’ strappy pumps (even if we only see her from the waist up) to really ensure that she unofficially kicks off the festival in high style. Ava DuVernay was one of the names I teased as a dream member of an all female Cannes Film Festival jury and I was blessed with (part) of that dream coming true. She is one of the most fashionable directors out there. She has this modest sense of style that always leaves a high impact when she steps out and I am really excited to see what she will wear over the course of this years festival. For the jury dinner I went to a navy Stella McCartney ‘Anderson’ cape dress which features a round neck, a draped design, side slit pockets and a knee length that we have actually already seen worn by Meghan Markle. While I’m not usually a fan of reruns I do think that Ava would wear this dress in a totally different way than Meghan did and because this is the most laid back event of the festival I think that it would be totally fine. I have a feeling that we will only see Ava from the waist up. With that in mind I think styling this dress with her signature braids, simple defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of navy blue Paul Andrew ‘Kimura’ pumps would all make this a really beautiful moment for Ava. I don’t know why I didn’t think of Kristen Stewart for my dream Cannes jury. She has been on a red carpet the festival promoting one project or another year after year for a while now. I have to say that I have really high expectations for what Kristen will bring for her Cannes Film Festival jury run this year. I think that she would kick that run off in high style with black Alexander McQueen rib knit long sleeve dress which features silver grommets and red lacing. Again another off the rack gown, and I feel like that if anyone would make this an edgy glam moment that it would be Kristen. This dress would be perfectly style with loose unkempt hair, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of red lace Laurence Dacade ‘Nelly’ sandal boots. French actress Lea Seydoux used to be one of my favorites to see on the red carpet, then she signed a deal to be an ambassador for Louis Vuitton. Since then she has been a slave to the brand, and I am hoping that Cannes will bring a renewed since of love her style. I don’t want it to be a wall to wall Vuitton fest, but I am sure that we will see the brand a few times on Lea. I think that for the Jury dinner that Lea could go back to the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2018 collection (which was presented almost a year ago) and grab up this black tweed and leather skirt suit which features a cap sleeve jacket with a leather collar, cap sleeves, and silver studs and a mini skirt. This is a chic look and I definitely think that with some stripped back styling including a sleek bob, defied eyes, red lips, and a pair of black and silver Prada slingback pumps that Lea would be able to star her Cannes run with a winning Louis Vuitton ensemble.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: The Regulars Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

This is the final set of wishes for people who aren’t on a jury or in a movie that is screening at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. I love that we just see stars descend on Cannes even if their films are not screening in the official selection of the festival. They bring the glamour to the festival and I honestly think that when the pressures of promoting a film aren’t on stars I tend to think that stars bring some of their best moments on the red carpet which is why I love my Cannes regulars. Monegasque princess Charlotte Casiraghi is one of the regulars in Cannes. Almost every single year she attends as a guest of Kering. One of my favorite Cannes moments was a custom Gucci gown that Charlotte wore in 2015. That gown was bohemian glam at its best. I went to a much more stereotypical glamorous gown for Charlotte to wear this year. I was inspired to modify a Saint Laurent Fall 2018 RTW mini dress after the absolutely major custom Saint Laurent gown Charlotte wore for the annual Monaco Rose Ball last month. I originally thought of making Charlotte one of the red carpet rebels who opt to wear a short dress on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals, and it is still likely that she could, but I thought that she would be a perfect person to take this black and red Saint Laurent Fall 2018 RTW floral beaded mini dress which features strong shoulders, long sleeves, a plunging neckline, and a draped skirt and rock a custom gown out of it. 80’s glamour at it’s best and I totally think that Charlotte would sell this sexy gown to me. Style it with a chic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black Saint Laurent ‘Sac De Jour’ crystal embellished clutch, a pair of black Saint Laurent ‘Iris’ feather embellished sandals, and art deco inspired Cartier High Jewelry diamond and ruby earrings to really make this look everything I am dreaming of and more. I want to see the beautiful Izabel Goulart bring something different than we are used to seeing from her on the Cannes red carpet this year. She usually goes for obviously sexy nude colored gowns from brands like Roberto Cavalli, Zuhair Murad, and Ralph & Russo, but this year I went for a much more dramatic look than her norm. I do believe that Izabel would sell this ice blue Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture silk organza halter neck ballgown which features a hand painted floral print bodice and appliqued petal skirt embellished with Japanese pearls, Swarovski crystals, silk floss thread work, and opal stones. This gown is truly a work of art. The hand painting and embroidery of the bodice of this gown alone took over 200 hours of work. The gown features more than 1,000 Japanese beads and 40,000 hand cut and appliqued petals. For all the work that went into this gown it really does deserve a really glamorous red carpet moment I definitely think that while an unexpected choice that Izabel would be the perfect person to bring this gown to life. I think that with old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of white Casadei ‘Blade’ metal plated heel sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection sapphire and diamond earrings would ensure that this is the light and airy glam moment that I want to see from Izabel. Regular readers will know I don’t often feature Kendall Jenner. I don’t like her as a person or really as a style star, but she is one that we have seen on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for the last four years. She has worn Giambattista Valli Couture, Azzedine Alaïa, Roberto Cavalli Couture, and Chanel over the last several years and I would bet that she will be back on the carpet this year. Sheer and black are usually her MO and she rarely steps out of that box so I didn’t push her boundaries with this wish either. I think that Kendall would definitely bring this black sheer lace Elie Saab Spring 2018 Couture ball gown which features feathered cap sleeves, plunging neckline, belted waist, and a sweeping train to life on the red carpet. It is a little more avant garde than we are used to seeing from Kendall, but I do believe that she would be able to own this gown and not get lost in those feathers. The styling for this look is what will really make the difference. A sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Artisteric’ patent leather and PVC sandals, and simple Messika ‘My Twin Toi & Moi’ diamond earrings are all what I would add to this gown to make this a chic moment for Kendall. Naomi Campbell will once again present her Fashion For Relief gala fashion show at the Cannes Film Festival this year. This years show will raise funds in support of Save the Children and Time’s Up and I am really excited to see what Naomi will bring to festivals red carpet. Over the years we have seen Naomi bring some of her favorite brands including Atelier Versace, Roberto Cavalli, and Azzedine Alaïa to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, and for this year I went to two different designers for the iconic supermodel to bring to the red carpet. We haven’t seen Naomi rock a Givenchy gown since Clare Waight Keller took over the reigns as the brands creative director. I feel like at Cannes we will be seeing a lot of the new Givenchy and I definitely think that this black sheer paneled Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve, column gown which features a v-neck and intricate sequin fringe embellishment is something that Naomi would be drawn too. It is something that is exactly that I would expect Naomi to rock. She loves black and sheer and I think that when styled with sleek center parted hair, defined eyes, red lips, black Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ sandals, and a pair of purposefully asymmetrical De Grisogono black and white diamond drop earrings. The second look I’ve picked for Naomi is a little more of a stretch. Naomi has never worn a gown by Prabal Gurung, but I really think that she would be the perfect person to sell this purple sequin gown from the designers Fall 2018 RTW collection which features two tone sequined detailing with asymmetrical sleeves. The one long sleeve and caped sleeve with the thigh high split all add to the glamour and drama of this look. We don’t often see Naomi do bold color like this, but I always think that Cannes is the perfect time to step out of your box and take a risk. This gown is such a statement that with sleek center parted locks, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of anthracite grey glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Lang’ sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection shoulder-skimming rubellite tourmaline, amethyst and Paraiba tourmaline earrings that this would be one of Naomi’s most statement making looks ever.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: The Regulars Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

There are always some faces that aren’t connected to a film, the juries, or L’Oreal that end up walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Like most of these “The Regulars” lists they it is dominated by one model, with an actress rounding out today’s first set of wishes for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.Ralph & Russo has been a staple on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet since they launched their runway collection back in 2014. Over the last year and a half the brand has dressed Arizona Muse for many of a red carpets and I would love to see her bring the brand to Cannes again this year after wearing a black high/low ballgown on the festivals red carpets last year. I decided to go for more of a simple silhouette with this rose pink tulle Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture halter gown which features intricately embellished with rose gold Swarovski stones, floral sequins, bead, and pearls, trimmed with silk fringe tassels for her to bring the glam to this red carpet. Usually we see Arizona go for big ball gowns from Ralph & Russo on the red carpet, but this more flapper inspired gown would definitely be a really beautiful moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Style it with a romantic updo, defined winged eyes, rose pink lips, simple earrings, and a pair of gold Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ metallic ankle strap sandals to really make it a really glamorous moment.Bella Hadid usually goes for sexy Alexandre Vauthier silk gowns like she did in 2017 and 2016 for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. But last year the face of Dior beauty and Bulgari also delivered an unexpected red quilted satin Dior ball gown to the red carpet as well. I would imagine that Bella will once again don at least one Dior design over the course of this years Cannes Film Festival. I was going back and forth on the perfect designs for Bella to wear this year and then Maria Grazia Chiuri showed the Christian Dior Spring 2018 Couture collection again in Shanghai adding a few new designs and I saw this nude tulle ballgown which features a plunging portrait neckline, pleated skirt, and thin belted waist and I knew exactly what I wanted to see Bella bring to the red carpet at this years festival. I am obsessed with this gown and I know that Bella would be one of the few who would bring an effortless glam moment to the red carpet wearing this gown. I think that a sleek bun with her short bangs, a winged eyeliner, bold red lips, a pair of nude Christian Louboutin ‘Twistissima Strass’ pumps, and a statement Bulgari High Jewelry diamond and emerald necklace would all give this major Audrey Hepburn glam vibes.Hailey Baldwin made her debut on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals last year working two red carpets wearing custom TwinSet and Ralph & Russo Couture respectively for each of her appearances. I wasn’t thrilled with either of those looks, but since then Hailey has really won my heart and has become one of the models that I most look forward to seeing on the red carpet. I am hoping that she will be one of the many models invited to walk the Cannes red carpet again this year. I went for a really dramatic gown compared to what we are used to seeing Hailey bring to the red carpet. She usually goes for sexy and sheer. This silver Zuhair Murad Spring 2018 Couture gown which features intricate crystal embroidery, a plunging neckline belted waist, sheer column skirt, and a draped train would make for a really dramatic moment for Hailey. I only want to see this gown sheer though if Hailey wears the perfect nude undergarments so we see no pant lines, otherwise I would want to see her have this gown lined. I know that’s a shot in the dark, but I don’t think that she needs a sheer gown to prove she’s sexy. A sleek updo, smokey eye, nude lips, silver Christian Louboutin ‘Botticella’ sandals, and a selection of De Grisogono diamonds including simple tassel earrings and a statement bracelet would all make this a really glamorous moment. Jourdan Dunn is one of my favorite models. She is sexy and glamorous and knows hows to work whatever a designer throws at her. In the past she has rocked Elie Saab Couture and Ralph & Russo Couture in 2016 and 2015 on the Cannes red carpet. I went back to Ralph & Russo for her to wear this year, but a different look than we have seen Jourdan wear on the festivals red carpets with this red Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture chiffon gown which features cap sleeves, a sunray pleated asymmetric draped bodice, sashes draped from the sleeves, a sheer pleated skirt, and a thigh high slit. This gown can be a really glamorous and sexy femme fatale moment and I totally think that Jourdan would definitely be able to deliver that to me on the red carpet with a sleek vintage inspired updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Optic’ d’Orsay PVC paneled suede sandals, and a beautiful Chopard diamond and ruby necklace. As the first lady of Kering, one of the name sponsors of the Cannes Film Festival, we usually see Salma Hayek on the arm of her husband (the CEO of Kering) François-Henri Pinault over the course of the festival wearing the brands that Kering owns. Usually thats Gucci, but I don’t think that Gucci is the best fit for Salma. It has been a hot minute since Salma has rocked an Alexander McQueen gown on the red carpet, and I think it’s time to see her bring a moment from that brand and I definitely think that Salma would shut down a custom version of this pastel yellow Alexander McQueen plissé silk-chiffon gown which features a one shoulder neckline, exposed boned bustier, and a pleated layered skirt. I would want to see Salma ask McQueen creative director Sarah Burton to custom make this gown for her adding a really dramatic train, because it’s Cannes and if anyone could deliver the go big or go home mentality it would be Salma. Style the gown with a cream Alexander McQueen ‘Queen and King’ tulle and pearl embellished clutch bag, a romantic updo, smokey eyes, pink lips, a pair of gold Gucci braided metallic leather sandals, and a selection of Boucheron jewels including gold and diamond tassel earrings and a gold and diamond cuff bracelet to really ensure that she completes her first lady of fashion duties in the most glamorous way possible.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: The Regulars Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

My latest set of wishes for the Cannes Film Festival is full of models and spokesmodels. The red carpets of the festival are not just used to promote movies, but over the last 10 to 15 years we have really seen brands use the power of this iconic red carpet to promote their wares. Fashion and jewelry brands capitalize the on the power of the red carpet and stars from film, music, and fashion to bring awareness to their products. That is where most of the ladies who are in these “The Regulars” wishes come from. They are people who brands usually invite to the festival and they usually bring their a-game.Eva Herzigova has been attending the festival for years wearing brands like Roberto Cavalli Couture, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, and Atelier Versace. The always consistent part of Eva’s red carpet looks in Cannes is that she is always accessorized with Chopard jewels. Chopard is one of the title sponsors of the Cannes Film Festival and they use the red carpet like a runway to promote their “Red Carpet” and “Green Carpet” collections and Eva is used as a mannequin to celebrate that jewelry. So I went on a hunt for a great gown for Eva to wear this year. I decided on a brand that Eva has never worn on a red carpet with this yellow Zuhair Murad Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve column gown which features intricate beaded fringe embroidery, a belted waist, and a center split. The style is definitely something that Eva would be drawn to and I think that it would be a perfect look for her to bring on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. With a romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, a silver Kotur ‘Basketweave Bailey’ embossed metal minaudiere, silver Gianvito Rossi asymmetric metallic strass embellished sandals, and a pair of Chopard yellow diamond chandelier earrings Eva would have yet another beautiful Cannes moment on her hands. Joan Smalls has walked the main carpet at the Cannes Film Festival twice in the past wearing Azzedine Alaïa and Emilio Pucci, both of which were white. I don’t know who invited Joan to Cannes, but I am always happy when she does get an invitation. I love Joan. She always bring sexy glamour to what ever red carpet she wears on the red carpet and I am sure that she will once again bring that sexy glam to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year, if she so attends. I went around and around trying to find the perfect gown for Joan. I looked at Dolce & Gabbana, Elie Saab, and Brandon Maxwell (all designers whom Joan regularly wears on the red carpet) but ultimately it was this ballet pink Giambattista Valli Spring 2018 Couture draped gown which features crystal beading on the thin straps, and waist, a bralet style top, side cutouts, and a flowing skirt that I really think would be an absolutely beautiful moment for the Puerto Rican supermodel to bring to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. This is a softer and more flirty gown than we are used to seeing from Joan on the red carpet, but I feel like for Cannes that this moment would definitely be one of my favorite looks of the festival. I feel like with the right styling that this would be an absolutely perfect red carpet moment. I would finish this look with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, metallic rose gold Christian Louboutin ‘Choca’ strappy buckle strap sandals, and a selection of Chopard jewels including a pair of pink quartz, rubellite, and diamond drop earrings and a statement rubellite cuff bracelet would ensure that Joan delivers this look in head to toe perfection. Liu Wen is another of the models who we have seen almost every year on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. She has brought Giambattista Valli Couture, Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli Couture, Ralph & Russo, and custom Saint Laurent to the festivals red carpets in the past. It’s never the same kind of look twice so I am interested in seeing what she will bring this year. She has never had a fringe moment in Cannes so I thought that she would be the perfect person to bring this black and white Givenchy Fall 2018 RTW gown which features a bow detail halter neck, color blocked top and skirt, and a tiered fringe skirt to life on the red carpet. I love a good fringe moment on the red carpet and this Givenchy creation is a glamorous moment and I feel like that if Liu styled this gown with a sleek low bun, defined eyes, red lips, a black Rodo crystal embellished clutch, black and white Rene Caovilla embellished snake coil sandals, and a pair of diamond and ruby Chopard drop earrings would all make this a major moment for the festival. For the last three years Australian-American actress Melissa George has attended Cannes Film Festival premieres and the amfAR Gala in Cannes representing Schiaparelli on the red carpet. I personally am a huge fan of Schiaparelli, but the only time that Melissa has made me love the Schiaparelli gown she has worn was at the amfAR Gala in 2015. Often I think that the Schiaparelli looks that she picks don’t flatter her and I am really hoping that if she is back on the festivals red carpets wearing the brand again this year that she picks a gown that really makes a beautiful statement. I think that Melissa would look beautiful wearing this peach pink and nude Schiaparelli Spring 2018 Couture strapless a-line tulle ball gown. It is a beautiful glamorous moment and I feel like it could be turned into a really chic modern 60’s glam moment with a 60’s inspired updo, defined eyes, peachy pink lips, a champagne Judith Leiber Couture crystal slide lock clutch, champagne Gianvito Rossi pleated satin sandals with a crystal buckle ankle strap, and a pair of  David Morris akoya pearl and mother of pearl tassel earrings with white micro-set diamonds.Petra Nemcova is another of the usual suspects when it comes to promoting Chopard on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. The Czech model, television host, and philanthropist has partnered with Chopard in the past to sell jewelry that benefits her charity The Happy Hearts Fund and we usually see her bringing the glam to the Cannes red carpet in support of the brand. She has brought brands including The 2nd Skin Co., Cristina Ottaviano, Georges Chakra Couture, Zuhair Murad, Emilio Pucci, and Elie Saab. I decided that for this years red carpet to go with a bright color moment completely devoid of any embellishment. This pale yellow Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture silk chiffon gown which features one shoulder, layers of cascading silk organza layers and hand pleated godets, an a-line silhouette, and a sweeping train would be an absolutely beautiful moment for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I tend to want to see light and glamorous gowns on this red carpet which sits on the edge of the Ligurian Sea in the French Riviera. Styled with a romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a silver Rafe ‘Sofia’ polygon straw clutch, a pair of light beige Stuart Weitzman ‘100FRINGESQUARENUDIST’ crystal fringe embellished satin sandals, and a pair of statement Chopard diamond chandelier earrings this would be yet another beautiful moment for Petra.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: The Regulars Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Before I jump into my wishes for members of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival jury and members of the films in the Official Selection I have just a few wishes for some of the stars, mostly models, that we usually see on the red carpets of the festival. L’Oreal is the biggest brand represented on the Cannes Film Festival red carpets but they are not the only ones. Other title sponsors of the festival including Chopard and Kering also send people to walk the red carpets. As do other brands including De Grisogono, Bulgari, and more. They all help add to the glamour of the festival and I am always welcome to more glamour. Adriana Lima is one of those regular attendees of the festival. She gave her best Cannes moment ever last year wearing Naeem Khan and Chopard. We have also seen Adriana wearing Prada, Ulyana Sergeenko, and Alexandre Vauthier Couture on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals in the past. When it comes to her red carpet style I can be very love and loathe with Adriana’s style and I am hoping that when she steps out this year that Adriana falls firmly in the love category. I think that would be the case wearing the color of love with this red Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Spring 2018 strapless gown which features a ruffled neckline, belted waist, and a tiered pleated a-line skirt. We often see beautiful Alberta Ferretti creations on the Cannes Film Festival red carpets and I definitely think that this will be one that we will see this year. It is not the typical sexy style that Adriana usually gravitates towards, but she doesn’t need body hugging mermaid silhouettes, thigh high splits, or plunging neckline to be sexy. Adriana oozes sex appeal on a regular day so I know that her presence would make this a sexy moment. I could see Adriana asking Alberta to take this gown and add a dramatic train for this red carpet, and I can totally endorse that. With hair and makeup like she wore to the Met Gala in 2016, a pair of red Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ satin and PVC ankle wrap sandals, and a selection of Chopard jewels including diamond and ruby chandelier earrings and a beautiful diamond scroll bracelet I think that this would be a really beautiful moment for Adriana. Clotilde Courau is a princess of Naples and Venice by marriage and a French actress and is usually on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. She has been rocking the festivals red carpets over the last 15 or so years with recent red carpet appearances coming from brands like Elie Saab Couture, Georges Hobeika, off the rack Valentino, and Valentino Couture. It would honestly surprise me if Clotilde isn’t on the red carpet at the festival, most likely the Opening Ceremony. I would love to see her bring this black and gold Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture gown which features long sleeves, cold shoulders, thick straps, intricate embroidery, and a ball skirt to the red carpet. She knows to to do drama and I feel like this is the perfect gown for Clotilde to bring to life on the festivals red carpet with a romantic updo, smokey eye, black satin Roger Vivier sandals, and a pair of simple Chopard yellow diamond chandelier earrings. Jasmine Sanders made her Cannes Film Festival debut last year giving dressing gown glamour wearing custom Ulyana Sergeenko Couture. That was a really beautiful moment and I am hoping the supermodel will come to the red carpet at the festival this year if she decides to attend. I have a feeling that we will see several of the glamorous gowns from the Moschino Fall 2018 RTW collection on the Cannes red carpets this year and I am really excited to see some of these gowns brought to life on the red carpet. Jasmine is a friend of the brands creative director Jeremy Scott and I feel like she would bring this rose satin and grey Moschino Fall 2018 RTW asymmetrical column gown which features a single long sleeve, plunging sweetheart neckline, and a disjointed meshing of the fabrics on the body of the gown to life like no other Cannes guest could. It is definitely something I don’t think would be worn by an actress for a premiere, but someone like Jasmine could make it a really major moment. With a 50’s inspired updo, winged cat eyes, a nude lip, black Rene Caovilla snake-coil crystal embellished sandals, and a pair of 18 kt rose gold Bulgari earrings set with chalcedonies, rubellite bead, pink tourmaline beads, and diamonds would all ensure that Jasmine would add the perfect finishing touches for this dramatic and glamorous moment. Lily Donaldson is another of the models whom I usually love to see on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Last year she wore a really light white Christian Dior gown for a premiere and in 2017 she wore a Saint Laurent gown for a premiere and a dramatic red Prada gown for the amfAR gala. I really want to see Lily bring some drama tot the red carpet this year with this black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2018 RTW ball gown which features a strapless v-neck lace bustier and a high low skirt with circle petals. Lily doesn’t often wear ball gowns on the red carpet, but I do believe that this would be a really chic and dramatic moment for her to bring to the red carpet in Cannes. It would be a perfect canvas for Lily to pair with a diamond necklace from the Chopard ‘Garden of Kehlani’ necklace. Finish the look with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, and a pair of simple black velvet Giuseppe Zanotti three strap sandals to really ensure that this look just exudes glamour from head to toe, When it comes to owning the dramatic glamour of the Cannes Film Festival very few have done it better than Spanish supermodel Nieves Alvarez. In past appearances we have seen Nieves wear Stephane Rolland Couture, custom Ralph & Russo, and Elie Saab Couture to bring the drama to the red carpet at the festival. There is no one that wears Stephane Rolland better than Nieves. She is a muse of the designer and every time she wears the brand on the red carpet it becomes magic. I believe that Nieves would own the Cannes Film Festival red carpet wearing this white Stephane Rolland Fall 2017 Couture structured long sleeve gown which features black cuffs, strong shoulders, a structured bodice, abstract pebble embellishments, a center split, and a dramatic train. I saw Nieves wearing this gown the moment I saw it come down the runway last July and Cannes is the perfect platform for her to really bring it to life. It would be perfectly styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a gold Yliana Yepez ‘Eva’ tassel detail glitter resin minaudiere, a pair of black lace and satin Christian Louboutin ‘Guiptik’ slingback peep toe pumps, and a selection of Bulgari jewels inducing pink gold set earrings with takhti-cut amethysts and diamonds and a pink gold set cocktail ring with a cushion cabochon rubellite and diamonds.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: L’Orealistas Red Carpet Wish List Part 9

I can’t believe that we’ve come to the end of my wishes for the L’Orealistas at this years Cannes Film Festival. I’ve said several times how much I think that being a L’Orealista is the best job in Cannes. They get flown to the French Riviera, put up in one of the most glamorous hotels in the world, wear couture, and get draped in the worlds most beautiful diamonds just to walk an expanse of red carpet, up the famous steps, and into the Palais de Festivals only to sneak out the back door to change for the next event that they are supposed to attend. At least one of the looks that I consider for a spot on my Best Dressed of the year list. Since starting this blog in 2011 a L’Orealista has been on my Best Dressed of the Year list seven times. So I wonder who will bring the Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment this year?Last year at the amfAR Gala in Cannes was the first time I took notice of beautiful red headed model Alexina Graham when she walked the red carpet with Balmain creative director Olivier Rousting wearing a custom gold Balmain gown and collar necklace. Since then shes walked in every Balmain show and made her debut on the Victoria’s Secret red carpet. I feel like this year on top of undoubtedly will be another amfAR appearance we will see Alexina bring some bold choices to the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. I felt obligated to pick one Balmain gown and I do think the model would bring this black Balmain 44 François Premier one shoulder tuxedo gown which features a strong shoulder and a dramatic tulle skirt to life on the red carpet. This is an edgier look than we are used to seeing on the Cannes red carpet, but I do believe the model would be able to make it work. Following that I went to lingerie brand La Perla and this gorgeous white and gold beaded fringe gown from the brands Spring 2018 RTW show. I loved this gown when I saw it presented in the middle of last fall and am honestly surprised that with all the gowns from this collection that have been worn on a red carpet that this hasn’t gotten a moment yet. I do think that this really glam moment would be a perfect look for Alexina to bring to a Cannes red carpet. Finally I went with a look that I think would be a beautiful moment even thought it is the least likely of the gowns I’ve picked for Alexina to wear. I have been trying to find the perfect person to rock this burgundy velvet Prabal Gurung Fall 2018 RTW cape gown which features a strapless silhouette with drawstring detailing at the waist and I do think that Alexina has what it takes to really make this gown come to life on the red carpet. It’s not inherently sexy or embellished, which are Alexina’s typical style cues, so I don’t really believe it will happen but I do believe it would be a really beautiful moment for the supermodel.Emily Ratajkowski was paid no favors last year when she walked the red carpets at the Cannes Film Festival wearing custom champagne silk Twin Set and custom black lace and taffeta Dundas jumpsuit gown. The latter earned her the top spot on my Worst Dressed of 2017 list. I really am hoping that Emily will redeem herself on this years red carpet. I think that the three gowns I’ve chosen for Emily to wear would help do just that. First up is a very chic and classic black Dolce & Gabbana “Secrets & Diamonds” collection column gown which features intricate crystal embellishment, thick straps, sweetheart neckline, and a tiered skirt. This is a simple look by terms of a Cannes Film Festival red carpet gown, but I do think that the glamour of this gown and Emily’s sexy persona could make it a beautiful gown on the red carpet at the Palais. The second look is almost just as simple, but has a twist that makes it just a little more dramatic. This blush Ralph & Russo Fall 2016 Couture off the shoulder column gown which features intricate beading, a plunging neckline, draped sleeves, and a chic chiffon cape that I think would billow in the sea breeze in a possibly iconic way. It could be the perfect platform for Emily to rock a statement necklace and really give us a beautiful and sexy moment on the red carpet. The final look I’ve picked for Emily is this sage green and beige Ziad Nakad Spring 2018 Couture mermaid gown which features a cape train, intricate embellishment, and a plunging neckline. This is the most dramatic gown I’ve picked for Emily to rock this year and I do believe that despite the fact that Ziad Nakad isn’t one of the regular Cannes brands that it would be a truly statement making moment. It honestly shocks me that with the diva presence that Jennifer Lopez brings to the red carpet that she has only attended one event during the Cannes Film Festival. She attended the 2010 amfAR Gala in Cannes wearing a really beautiful Roberto Cavalli Couture gown, but she’s never really come to Cannes to promote the brand on the red carpet. Despite this fact every year I still put her in my L’Orealista wishes because she could really be a major style star on the Cannes red carpet. She has a movie, Second Act, which will come out later this year so I really do hope that we will see her bring some glamour to the Cannes red carpets. I went to all of Jennifer’s classic go-to designers for the gowns for her to rock this year starting with Atelier Versace. Donatella still hasn’t released a lookbook of the Atelier Versace Spring 2018 Couture collection and I have a feeling that may not happen until after this years Met Gala (for which she is one of the co-hosts,) but there have been a small handful of looks teased on Instagram accounts of people who attended the private presentation that Versace gave back in January in Paris. For the first look I went back to the time where JLo rocked goddess gowns for all of her red carpets and this sage green and ocean blue Atelier Versace Spring 2018 Couture gown which features a dramatic silk train, asymmetrical neckline, and a gorgeous ombré beaded column silhouette. I do believe that Jennifer would take this gown and give us the full mermaid on this red carpet. A mermaid inspired updo, rose pink lips, smokey eyes, a pair of Chopard diamond seahorse chandelier earrings, and strappy sandals all would continue to deliver that mermaid vibe. Following that I went to full glam moment with a slate blue Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture a-line gown which features intricate gold crystal embroidery, feather embellished skirt, velvet belted waist, and a plunging neckline. I do think that this is a typical JLo gown for a major movie event red carpet and I know that with the perfect styling that she would definitely be able to shut down the red carpet at the festival in this glamorous gown. The final gown I’ve picked for JLo is probably the most Jennifer of all the gowns I’ve picked for her. In fact she wore a similar gown from this collection just last night at the Time 100 gala. Jennifer is not afraid to wear similar looks though so I still think that she could take this gold Zuhair Murad Spring 2018 Couture off the shoulder gown which features intricate crystal embroidery, a center split, and a dramatic full skirt and train and make it a major moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.I had no idea who British model Neelam Gill was before her major custom Balmain moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet last year. Her gown made me notice but her features are absolutely beautiful and I am interested to see if she will be invited back to the festival this year. I would imagine that she will and I am interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpet this year. Will she wear Balmain again? I decided that I would keep the Balmain spirit alive and I think that she would be really chic and sexy wearing this green Balmain 44 François Premier gown which features a sheer panel and plunging neckline, long sleeves, and a column skirt. Some of the gowns from this collection that have been worn have had some customization aspects to them and I would like to see Olivier customize this gown for Neelam to have a long and dramatic train to really drape up the famous steps into the Palais de Festivals. I do think that would be a really chic and sexy glam moment for Neelam to bring to her sophomore Cannes premiere red carpet. Unlike all the rest of the L’Orealistas I’ve made wishes for I’ve only picked two gowns for Neelam. I don’t really know her style and I wasn’t thrilled with enough options to pick three gowns for Neelam. I do love the idea of Neelam bringing this orange Armani Prive Spring 2018 Couture one shoulder fully sequined column gown. I feel like Neelam would definitely bring the bright glamour to the red carpet wearing this gown. It would prove that you don’t need a big skirt or dramatic train to have a real statement gown. Rounding out all of my L’Orealista wishes is the beautiful Zoe Saldana who hasn’t been seen at the festival since 2014 where she rocked the red carpets wearing Victoria Beckham and Jason Wu. She had previously made my Best Dressed of 2011 list wearing a red and white candy stripe Armani Prive gown in Cannes, so I am really hoping that on the heels of the Avengers: Infinity War promo tour that Zoe will bring the glam to Cannes. I picked three distinctly different gowns for Zoe to bring to the red carpet. The first is a strapless Armani Prive Spring 2018 Couture ombré column gown which features thick crystal embellishments and a hand painted floral pattern. Zoe doesn’t usually do drama with big skirts or trains on the Cannes red carpet instead opting for chic simple styles that really showcase her style and I definitely think that this Armani gown would be something she would be drawn to. On the other hand I would love to see Zoe bring some stereotypical drama to the Cannes red carpet wearing this black Elie Saab Fall 2016 Couture ball gown which features intricate black and purple crystal embroidery, plunging neckline, sheer skirt, and a belted waist. It’s not often that we see Zoe bring a ball gown to the red carpet but when she does she usually goes all in. I do think that she would definitely own this gown on a Cannes red carpet, maybe for one of the late premieres because I think that the dark of the night would just add to the romanticism of this look. Finally Gucci is one of the brands we have seen Zoe turn to several times in the past and I definitely think that Zoe would look absolutely beautiful wearing this black Gucci sleeveless jersey evening gown which features a blue sequin-embroidered bow at the waist, jeweled neckline, a-line silhouette, and a floor skimming hem. This gown is inspired by the Spring 2018 RTW collection as the sequin bow can be seen in many looks from that collection and I definitely think that Zoe would be the perfect person to bring this gown to life on a Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

I think that whatever the L’Orealistas will wear this year that they are poised to deliver some really major moments on the red carpet. I am really excited to see what all of the beautiful ladies that represent L’Oreal will wear and we are now less than two weeks until the kick of of this years festival.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

Cannes 2018: L’Orealistas Red Carpet Wish List Part 8

This post kicks off my final day of wishes for all the gowns I want to see L’Orealistas bring to the 2018 Cannes Film Festival red carpets. For the most part my wishes are just for the models at this point. L’Oreal has a good mix of film and television actresses, music stars, and supermodels that represent the brand and they are always some of the most glamorous stars on the red carpet at the festival. Alexa Chung is not an actress, music star, or supermodel. The a British writer, host, and fashion designer was announced as a face of L’Oreal Professional back in January, so I would bet that she will be invited to represent the brand on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival next month. In the past, not with L’Oreal, Alexa has only attended the festival once wearing a short Balenciaga cocktail dress for a premiere in 2011. It is often that we see Alexa on red carpets wearing midi, tea length, and short dresses on the red carpets, so the gown I’ve picked for Alexa to wear this year are already out of her wheelhouse. The first look I’ve picked for Alexa (who is known for her bohemian style) is a grey and white stripe Calvin Klein Fall 2017 RTW ‘Little House on the Prairie” gown. When I watched this show I was honestly really disappointed. The popcorn on the floor still makes me tummy turn, and the clothes seemed mostly unwearable. It would take a special kind of person to make a gown like this work on the red carpet and I think that Alexa has just the right ease and effortlessness to make this kind of gown come to life on the red carpet. I could very easily see Alexa asking Raf Simons (the creative director of Calvin Klein) to make this a tea length dress, and honestly I think I could be okay with that. I think that with some really glamorous diamond and a pair of light blue Calvin Klein cutout PVC detail pumps that this could be a chic moment for Alexa. The first collection I thought of when I was trying to pick the right gowns for Alexa was Chloé. The brand hasn’t had a really great red carpet moment in a really long time, but I do think that Alexa would definitely be the perfect person to bring this toffee brown Chloé Fall 2018 RTW long sleeve gown which features leather ruffles on the rounded sleeves, metallic gold armbands, a ribbon neck, and embroidered panels down the plunging neckline. This gown is very much inside of Alexa’s wheelhouse and I think that while it isn’t a traditional Cannes gown Alexa isn’t a traditional red carpet star. The final gown I’ve picked for Alexa is the most dramatic and arguably the most unlikely. Alexa has never worn a big ball gown in the past, but for the Cannes Film Festival I think that she would definitely own the red carpet wearing this dark red Valentino Spring 2018 Couture floral print ballgown which features a full skirt, ruched waist, ruffled neckline and sleeve, and a dramatic train. I do think that it could be a really great moment on the red carpet at the festival and it could be a personal best for Alexa. Cindy Bruna is one of the models who doesn’t bring a whole lot to the premieres red carpets but does for the parties. She’s worn Zac Posen and Georges Hobeika Couture for premieres and Zuhair Murad Couture, Balmain, Redemption, and Ulyana Sergeenko Couture for parties. She does have some really great style and I know that she could be one who has the potential to deliver eye popping glamour on the red carpet. I went down three really beautiful yet very different gowns for Cindy to wear this year. Up first is a bright and airy gown with this light yellow Georges Chakra Spring 2018 Couture sleeveless gown which features a mermaid silhouette with an ombré feathered hem. This is definitely one of the gowns I feel like we will see on a Cannes red carpet and I do believe that Cindy would be absolutely beautiful wearing this confection. The color against her skin would just pop and the feathered hem would catch the sea breeze beautifully. The second gown I picked for Cindy could be worn one of two ways. The aluminum Jenny Packham Fall 2018 RTW sequin gown which features a V neckline, draped knotted detail at the waist, open shoulder detail, and a key hole at the back could be worn as presented for one of the parties that Cindy is bound to attend or if she asked Jenny to customize this gown for Cannes adding a dramatic train that it could be a really great premiere ensemble. And finally I went with femme fatale glamour with this dark red Marchesa Fall 2018 RTW strapless tulle drop waist gown which features a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice, dramatic train, and a full skirt. This is an obvious gown that I think that the gorgeous model would sell on the Cannes red carpet. Victoria’s Secret model Jasmine Tookes made her Cannes debut last year attending a premiere in Georges Chakra Couture and a L’Oreal party in Alberta Ferretti. I really loved that Georges Chakra gown and she has been giving glam looks ever since including Jean Louis Sebaj at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Monique Lhuillier at the Elton John Oscar Party. I went to some really beautiful gowns for Jasmine to wear this years festival and I am really looking forward to seeing what she will bring to the red carpet. The first look I’ve picked for Jasmine is this incredibly glamorous ruby red Pamella Roland Pre-Fall 2018 stretch crepe and crinkle chiffon gown which features a v neckline, beaded floral appliques, cape detail from one shoulder, and a back train. I loved this gown the moment that I saw it in the lookbook many months ago and I definitely think that someone like Jasmine would sell this gown with great aplomb to me on the Cannes red carpets. The second gown I’ve picked for Jasmine is more of a structured look than we have seen her wear on the red carpet over the years. I love the back of this hibiscus orange Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2018 double face duchess satin ballgown which features a deep v neckline, gathered train, and an open back and while that neckline isn’t my favorite I think that Jasmine would be able to make it work. It would be a perfect gown to pair with Pamela Froman ‘Dancing Flame’ pendant drop earrings with matrix fire opal briolettes and diamonds to compliment the color of the gowns fabric. The last look is the biggest gown that Jasmine would have ever worn with this light lemon yellow Zuhair Murad Spring 2016 Couture strapless ballgown which features a ruffled bodice and intricate floral embroidery on the skirt. Jasmine hasn’t had a big ballgown moment on the red carpet in the past and I definitely think that for a premiere on the breezy red carpet in Cannes that Jasmine would more than own this Zuhair Murad ballgown.  It honestly shocks me that that despite the fact that she was first signed with L’Oreal back in 2012 that Lea Michele hasn’t trekked out to the French Riviera to help promote glamour, and the brand, on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Back then Lea was one of the biggest red carpet divas out there, and while she isn’t on that same level anymore I think with the right gowns that she would totally own the red carpet at the festival. I went back and forth on so many looks for Lea to wear this year if she finally makes her Cannes debut. First is the boldest in terms of color with this red and fuchsia Christian Siriano Fall 2018 RTW silk faille bubble back gown which features an off the shoulder neckline, oversized cape sleeves, and a color blocking detail. The gown is definitely a very modern glam moment and I do believe that with the right tailoring that the gown would be a really beautiful look for Lea to rock on this red carpet. From sleek and bright to misty and voluminous with a pewter grey Marchesa Pre-Fall 2018 high low ballgown which features an illusion neckline, cap sleeve tiered tulle skirt, and a sheer bodice with silver and gunmetal metallic encrusted 3D flowers. Lea has worn a few Marchesa gowns in the past and I think that for a big and dramatic Cannes moment that Lea would definitely bring out her inner red carpet diva to bring the gown to life. Finally I have a wish for Lea to wear Oscar de la Renta. She hasn’t worn a look from the brand since Oscar passed, but was a huge friend and fan of the brand prior to that wearing looks for the Golden Globes, Emmy’s, SAG Awards, and Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpets among many others. I think that Cannes would be a perfect time to see her return to the brand wearing this black Oscar de la Renta ballgown which features large gold sequin details, a tulle skirt, and a strapless neckline. The shape of the gown reads entirely classic glamour and the sequins read modern glam and I definitely think that Lea would definitely be able to bring this gown to life on a Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Taylor Hill might have walked the red carpet at a couple of amfAR Gala’s in Cannes, but she has yet to ever take the main carpet at the Palais de Festivals by storm. I feel like this will be the year that Taylor finally does that and I am already excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet. One of the designers that I think we would definitely see Taylor rocking on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet is Carolina Herrera. She is a friend of the house and I think that she would look really beautiful wearing this hot pink Carolina Herrera sleeveless silk taffeta evening gown which features light blue placed flower paillette embroideries, deep V neckline and back, full a-line skirt, and a floor sweeping hem. We don’t really see much Carolina Herrera in Cannes, but I think that Taylor would be the perfect person to bring the brand to the festivals red carpet this year. I went back to an off the rack gown for my second wish for Taylor to rock on this years red carpets. For Cannes I don’t tend to think of off the rack gowns, but Neiman Marcus just released a bunch of fall gowns for pre-order, so I don’t feel like it would be a faux pas. This forest green Oscar de la Renta Oscar de la Renta sleeveless silk faille evening gown which features deep V neckline and back, bow shoulder details, mermaid silhouette, and a sweeping train is gorgeous and I think that against Taylor’s skin tone that this would be yet another red carpet win for her. The final look I’ve picked for Taylor to rock on this red carpet is this beautiful plum Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2018 strapless layered silk tulle ballgown which full features a peak sweetheart neckline, layered tulle skirt, and hidden corset bodice. This gown is the perfect canvas for a statement diamond necklace and would be a totally gorgeous old Hollywood moment for Taylor to bring to life on this red carpet.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.
