Cannes 2018: The Regulars Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

This is the final set of wishes for people who aren’t on a jury or in a movie that is screening at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. I love that we just see stars descend on Cannes even if their films are not screening in the official selection of the festival. They bring the glamour to the festival and I honestly think that when the pressures of promoting a film aren’t on stars I tend to think that stars bring some of their best moments on the red carpet which is why I love my Cannes regulars. Monegasque princess Charlotte Casiraghi is one of the regulars in Cannes. Almost every single year she attends as a guest of Kering. One of my favorite Cannes moments was a custom Gucci gown that Charlotte wore in 2015. That gown was bohemian glam at its best. I went to a much more stereotypical glamorous gown for Charlotte to wear this year. I was inspired to modify a Saint Laurent Fall 2018 RTW mini dress after the absolutely major custom Saint Laurent gown Charlotte wore for the annual Monaco Rose Ball last month. I originally thought of making Charlotte one of the red carpet rebels who opt to wear a short dress on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals, and it is still likely that she could, but I thought that she would be a perfect person to take this black and red Saint Laurent Fall 2018 RTW floral beaded mini dress which features strong shoulders, long sleeves, a plunging neckline, and a draped skirt and rock a custom gown out of it. 80’s glamour at it’s best and I totally think that Charlotte would sell this sexy gown to me. Style it with a chic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black Saint Laurent ‘Sac De Jour’ crystal embellished clutch, a pair of black Saint Laurent ‘Iris’ feather embellished sandals, and art deco inspired Cartier High Jewelry diamond and ruby earrings to really make this look everything I am dreaming of and more. I want to see the beautiful Izabel Goulart bring something different than we are used to seeing from her on the Cannes red carpet this year. She usually goes for obviously sexy nude colored gowns from brands like Roberto Cavalli, Zuhair Murad, and Ralph & Russo, but this year I went for a much more dramatic look than her norm. I do believe that Izabel would sell this ice blue Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture silk organza halter neck ballgown which features a hand painted floral print bodice and appliqued petal skirt embellished with Japanese pearls, Swarovski crystals, silk floss thread work, and opal stones. This gown is truly a work of art. The hand painting and embroidery of the bodice of this gown alone took over 200 hours of work. The gown features more than 1,000 Japanese beads and 40,000 hand cut and appliqued petals. For all the work that went into this gown it really does deserve a really glamorous red carpet moment I definitely think that while an unexpected choice that Izabel would be the perfect person to bring this gown to life. I think that with old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of white Casadei ‘Blade’ metal plated heel sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection sapphire and diamond earrings would ensure that this is the light and airy glam moment that I want to see from Izabel. Regular readers will know I don’t often feature Kendall Jenner. I don’t like her as a person or really as a style star, but she is one that we have seen on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for the last four years. She has worn Giambattista Valli Couture, Azzedine Alaïa, Roberto Cavalli Couture, and Chanel over the last several years and I would bet that she will be back on the carpet this year. Sheer and black are usually her MO and she rarely steps out of that box so I didn’t push her boundaries with this wish either. I think that Kendall would definitely bring this black sheer lace Elie Saab Spring 2018 Couture ball gown which features feathered cap sleeves, plunging neckline, belted waist, and a sweeping train to life on the red carpet. It is a little more avant garde than we are used to seeing from Kendall, but I do believe that she would be able to own this gown and not get lost in those feathers. The styling for this look is what will really make the difference. A sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Artisteric’ patent leather and PVC sandals, and simple Messika ‘My Twin Toi & Moi’ diamond earrings are all what I would add to this gown to make this a chic moment for Kendall. Naomi Campbell will once again present her Fashion For Relief gala fashion show at the Cannes Film Festival this year. This years show will raise funds in support of Save the Children and Time’s Up and I am really excited to see what Naomi will bring to festivals red carpet. Over the years we have seen Naomi bring some of her favorite brands including Atelier Versace, Roberto Cavalli, and Azzedine Alaïa to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, and for this year I went to two different designers for the iconic supermodel to bring to the red carpet. We haven’t seen Naomi rock a Givenchy gown since Clare Waight Keller took over the reigns as the brands creative director. I feel like at Cannes we will be seeing a lot of the new Givenchy and I definitely think that this black sheer paneled Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve, column gown which features a v-neck and intricate sequin fringe embellishment is something that Naomi would be drawn too. It is something that is exactly that I would expect Naomi to rock. She loves black and sheer and I think that when styled with sleek center parted hair, defined eyes, red lips, black Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ sandals, and a pair of purposefully asymmetrical De Grisogono black and white diamond drop earrings. The second look I’ve picked for Naomi is a little more of a stretch. Naomi has never worn a gown by Prabal Gurung, but I really think that she would be the perfect person to sell this purple sequin gown from the designers Fall 2018 RTW collection which features two tone sequined detailing with asymmetrical sleeves. The one long sleeve and caped sleeve with the thigh high split all add to the glamour and drama of this look. We don’t often see Naomi do bold color like this, but I always think that Cannes is the perfect time to step out of your box and take a risk. This gown is such a statement that with sleek center parted locks, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of anthracite grey glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Lang’ sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection shoulder-skimming rubellite tourmaline, amethyst and Paraiba tourmaline earrings that this would be one of Naomi’s most statement making looks ever.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.
