The 2018 Venice Film Festival kicked off this week in high style and I am really excited to see what all of the stars are going to bring to the red carpet. So far everyone has worn very glamorous looks from all of the favorite brands like Alberta Ferretti, Armani Prive, Prada, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton. The festival will close next Saturday with a screening of the film Driven which stars Lee Pace and Jason Sudekis. Could we see Olivia Wilde jet to Venice to support Jason? It is possible, but to me a little unlikely. In her first two red carpets of the festival as a jury member we have seen Naomi Watts rocking pink looks with a bubblegum pink Armani Prive tired organza column gown and a blush pleated Prada gown. I want to see Naomi close the festival in real glamorous style. My friend Evita sent me this custom Miu Miu gown which she created adding a really dramatic feathered skirt to a strapless bodice with embellishments inspired by a mini dress that walked the runway at the Miu Miu Cruise 2019 collection presentation. I was immediately taken with it and have been waiting for the perfect person to really make this gown a real glamorous statement. This is a little edgier than the typical dress we are used to seeing from Naomi, but I think that it meshes classic glamour and modern edge incredibly well and I think that it would be the perfect statement for her to make at the closing of this festival. Finish the look with a pair of white Gianvito Rossi ‘Poppy’ platform sandals, a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a selection of Bulgari jewels including art deco diamond fringe earrings and a diamond ‘Serpenti’ cuff bracelet to really make sure this look is nothing but glamour from head to toe.
I wanted Cate Blanchett to walk the red carpet at the Opening Ceremony, and while she didn’t walk the red carpet Sara Sampaio delivered the gown I wanted to see Cate wear. Well Cate is in Venice now and is going to be working a red carpet or two promoting Armani Beauty, whom she is the international spokeswoman for, as they are a presenting sponsor of this years festival. I went for a little more of a “risky” gown for Cate to rock on this red carpet picking this Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture gown which features a black and white ostrich feather and beaded fringe sleeveless blouse and a simple black velvet mermaid skirt with a dramatic train. I really do think that Cate has the effortless statuesque glamour to really make this look come off with ease and elegance. I went with easy styling adding a romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, black satin Aquazzura crystal embellished d’orsay peep toe pumps, and Harry Winston diamond waterfall earrings to really let the bodice be the focus of this look and ensure that Cate just exudes glamour.
The 2018 Venice Film Festival opens today and runs through Saturday September 8, 2018.
