2018 Toronto International Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 9

I know you don’t come to these wish lists to read this background paragraph that I usually start my posts off with, especially now that we are 9 parts into my wishes. I want to see stars bring glamour and drama to the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and I am just going to dive right into these latest wishes. I always want to see Gwendoline Christie really deliver on the red carpet. She is a statuesque beauty, but often times I find something the preclude me from loving her looks. I want to see Gwendoline really deliver a glamorous moment on the red carpet when she steps out for the TIFF premiere of In Fabric. She has friends at major fashion houses including Giles, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Gucci, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Dior, and Louis Vuitton but for this premiere I went to this bold purple Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture draped gown gown. This is an easy and floaty gown and I definitely think that Gwendoline would really be able to sell it to me. Vintage inspired finger waves, defined eyes, light pink lips, and a pair of black Gucci crystal hand applique embellished sandals all would make this a perfectly glamorous moment for Gwendoline.I love me a great Maggie Gyllenhaal moment on the red carpet and I am very excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet at the TIFF premiere of The Kindergarten Teacher. I decided that for this premiere that I wanted to see Maggie wear a customized version of an Oscar de la Renta Resort 2019 cocktail dress and have it lengthened into a floor length gown. This cayenne red Oscar de la Renta pom pom embellished gown which features a halter bodice with keyhole cutout and an a-line silhouette is glamorous and modern and I definitely think that Maggie would really make this a beautiful moment on the TIFF red carpet. Typically Maggie chooses printed gowns and dresses so this solid gown is a totally different to that norm, but I think that the flamenco flair (via those pom poms) makes this perfect for her. I did add some print and texture via a black and red Alexander McQueen ‘Queen & King’ feather embroidered clutch to add a small visual to the look. Finishing the look with a romantic updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Sofia’ suede sandals, and vintage gold set diamond and ruby Van Cleef & Arpels circle earrings would really ensure that this is a beautiful modern glam moment on this red carpet. The premiere of The Death and Life of John F. Donovan is going to be a great red carpet I am really excited for a lot of very chic moments from this premiere. I am really interested in seeing what Natalie Portman will wear for this premiere, especially following her shocking custom Gucci moment at the Vox Lux premiere at the Venice Film Festival. I thought about swapping Dior in for another unexpected gown for Natalie to wear on the red carpet at the premiere of The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, but ultimately I decided to go with a sexier Dior option instead of stepping out of her norm. I thought about this navy Christian Dior Fall 2018 Couture midi gown which features thin straps, a plunging neckline, think belted waist, and a pleated a-line skirt for Natalie because it meshes this sexier side of her style with that classic elegance that we come to expect from Dior. I think that is exactly what would make for a perfect TIFF red carpet moment. I would add a navy Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste/S’ crystal floral embellished suede clutch, full sexy waves, smokey eyes, red lips, dark silver glitter and satin Jimmy Choo ‘Helen’ sandals, and a pair of Christian Dior High Jewelry ‘Dentelle Guipure Diamant’ asymmetrical earrings in white gold and diamonds to really continue this dazzling, and unexpected, fashion run for Natalie. Thandie Newton also stars in The Death and Life of John F. Donovan and I am really praying that she delivers a major fashion moment on the red carpet at TIFF this year. In her past history on the red carpet in Toronto Thandie has always worn short dresses by the likes of Stella McCartney (both times in the last 10 years actually,) so I went very left of her norm picking a couture gown for her to wear for the premiere of this film. I’ve been craving seeing Thandie wearing this nude Valentino Fall 2018 Couture one shoulder ruffled column gown which features an emerald green silk bow on the shoulder and intricate beaded embroidery since it first came down the runway back in January of this year. I haven’t put it on a wish list yet because I was waiting for the right time to do it and I definitely think that a gala premiere at TIFF would be an absolutely amazing platform for Thandie to really bring this gown to life on the red carpet. A curly updo, smokey eyes, dark red lips, an emerald green Edie Parker ‘Jean’ marbled acrylic clutch, and a pair of bronze Aquazzura ‘Studio’ sequined strappy sandals would all ensure that this really is the absolutely glamorous, yet bohemian, moment that I have been picturing on Thandie for months. Earlier this summer Patricia Clarkson swapped out her stylists to work with Victor Blanco (who most notably dresses Nieves Alvarez) when she started on the promo tour for Sharp Objects. The two have been working incredibly well together and I am excited to see what they will out together for the TIFF premiere of her film Out of Blue. For her look I decided to keep her in blue with this black and blue Jeffrey Dodd Resort 2019 abstract pattern long sleeve column gown. This is a very simple yet bold moment and I definite think that the gorgeous strawberry blonde would really make this gown come to life on this red carpet. With almost every look that Patrica and Victor have put out since they started working together they have been pairing the looks with Malone Souliers shoes, and I decided that since I found a pair of blue and black ‘Maureen’ mule pumps that matched this gown perfectly that I would continue that run. Simple waves, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of azure blue Atelier Swarovski crystal drop earrings all would add the perfect finishing touches to this very bold moment for Patricia.

The 2018 Toronto International Film Festival will open on Thursday September 6, 2018 and runs through Sunday September 16, 2018.
