10 Best Dressed at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival

I have to say that I was pretty underwhelmed with the looks that came down the red carpets at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. I had high hopes that after having some of the best red carpets ever at the Oscars, Met Gala, Tony Awards, and Venice Film Festival that it was going to be the same through TIFF, but that sadly wasn’t the case. I don’t think there has been as much black in my best dressed list since the Golden Globe Awards all black dress code. 1) Lady Gaga in Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture at the premiere of A Star Is Born: Topping this list, after also topping my Best of Venice list as well, is the always gorgeous Lady Gaga. I went MAD when I saw her step onto this red carpet wearing this Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture column gown which features a tulle veil that detaches and can be worn as a poufy cape. I had come so incredibly close to picking this gown for her to wear on this exact red carpet, but I went in a completely different direction at the last minute. Seriously only Gaga could have sold this to me especially when paired with the with the velvet pillbox hat (that the gown was paired with on the runway) and the incredible statement Chopard earrings. I don’t usually consider film festival stops for promo tour of the year, but I just might this year.2) Lady Gaga in Iris Van Herpen Couture at a press event for A Star Is Born: While this chic cornflower blue Iris Van Herpen Couture custom pleated metallic organza gown may not have been worn on a red carpet it was worn for press interviews during the festival. Again its something that not many could really sell to me on the red carpet and Gaga does it with effortless ease.

3) Margaret Qualley in Delpozo Fall 2018 RTW at the premiere of Donnybrook: Andie MacDowell’s daughter Margaret Qualley has been a subtle fashion force on every red carpet she has stepped onto. She love feminine glamour and bold statements, and so when she stepped onto the red carpets at the premiere of Donnybrook wearing this multi tone pink Delpozo Fall 2018 RTW strapless gown my jaw just dropped. I have been waiting to see this gown on the red carpet and while I was expecting someone with a bigger presence to make it work I definitely think that Margaret was the perfect person to make it come to life on this red carpet. She wore it as an effortless moment. That is what makes it such a chic moment.

4) Timothee Chalamet in Haider Ackermann Fall 2018 Menswear at the premiere of Beautiful Boy: This is the second time that a menswear moment has made my best of an event list this year. First we had Tommy Dorfman in Thom Browne and now we have Timothee Chalamet. I was praying that since his friend, and go to designer, has left Berluti that we would start seeing Timothee wearing Haider Acrkermann’s eponymous line on the red carpet, and that is exactly what we got from him at the premiere of Beautiful Boy. He rocked his black single button silk stripe Haider Ackermann Fall 2018 Menswear tuxedo which is embroidered in cream cherry blossoms which he paired with a black t-shirt and boots. While he hasn’t been afraid of bold menswear looks on the red carpet this is the first time we have seen Timothee embrace print and embroidery and I definitely think this is the coolest look he has worn yet. He exuded that through the confidence he radiated in every photo that I have seen of him on this red carpet. 5) Elizabeth Debicki in Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture at the premiere of Widows: The halfway point of this list is the gorgeous Elizabeth Debicki. I was praying that she was finally going to live up to the level of glamour that I know she has the potential to bring to the red carpet, and that is exactly what she did on the red carpet at the premiere of Widows wearing this black velvet Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture halter gown which features a mermaid silhouette and a gold crystal embellished structured bustier bodice. She does classic glamour so beautifully on the red carpet and this is exactly what I was needing from her.

6) Olivia Wilde in Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2018 Couture at the premiere of Life Itself: It had been a long time since we had seen Olivia Wilde rock a gown on the red carpet so I was really looking forward to seeing what she was going to bring to the red carpet in Toronto for the premiere of Life Itself, and she didn’t disappoint. She brought chic yet sultry glamour to the red carpet wearing a black Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2018 Couture gown which features a dramatic plunging neckline, long sleeves, an a-line skirt, and a a gold chainmail metallic belt. If the belt hadn’t been there I don’t think this would have ranked as high as it did, but that belt adds the the right touch of sparkle to this look to really make it. I also loved her head. Those smokey eyes and simple everything else really complimented the sleek and sensual nature of this look.

7) Denise Gough in custom Gabriela Hearst at the premiere of Collette: I really took note of Denise Gough earlier this year when she wore a very chic Oscar de la Renta crystal embellished cocktail dress for the Tony Awards, so when I saw she was in one of the films screening at TIFF this year I was very interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpet. She didn’t disappoint wearing a custom rose pink velvet Gabriela Hearst strapless column gown. Was the gown anything groundbreaking? No. But it was beautifully executed with the chic diamonds she rocked on this red carpet. 8) Elizabeth Debicki in Prabal Gurung Resort 2019 at the press conference for Widows: Like Lady Gaga, Elizabeth Debicki makes two appearances on this list. She really did live up to her glamour potential when she stepped out during TIFF this year. I don’t usually pick photocall ensembles for film festival best dressed lists, but I really love how chic and elegant her black and white draped Prabal Gurung Resort 2019 long sleeve midi dress was. It wasn’t a bold couture moment like we typically see at photocalls during Cannes, but it was just glamorous enough to really make me fall in love.

9) Hilary Swank in custom Prada at the premiere of What They Had: It has been a while since we have seen Hilary Swank rock a red carpet so when she premiered her film What They Had at the festival I was expecting something really chic. That is what I got from her. Would I have loved to see her custom Prada gown which featured a fringed bodice to be either a metallic or bold color instead of black? Yes, but that didn’t stop me from loving it all the same. It is definitely one of the better Prada gowns out there and I think that Hilary delivered herself a really chic red carpet return in it.

10) Keira Knightley in Chanel Cruise 2019 at the press conference for Collette: Like I said I don’t usually pick photocall looks for best dressed lists, but I really loved the chic effortless elegance that Keira Knightley exuded wearing this Chanel Cruise 2019 ensemble which features a black tweed jacket, red and white striped button down, and white pleated skirt. It gives distinct Chanel vibes but doesn’t come across as boring, dated, or tired. It was actually one of the best head to toe looks that Keira has worn in a long time.

2018 New York Film Festival: “Non-Fiction” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

When it comes to the premiere if Non-Fiction I have absolutely no faith that Juliette Binoche will attend the premiere. We saw the film screen at both the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals and Juliette was absolutely nowhere to be seen. So this wish may be falling on deaf ears, but I really do want to see her jet to NYC for this premiere (especially since she has two films screening at the festival this year.)If she does jet to NYC I would love to see Juliette Binoche take to the red carpet at this premiere wearing this uber chic black velvet Armani Prive Fall 2017 Couture suit which features a plunging crystal trimmed neckline on the jacket and a sheer embellished scalloped hem on the pencil skirt. I am paring this look back from how it was presented on the runway removing the tulle ruffled capelet tied with dramatic tassels to make this look much simpler. While I definitely think that Juliette could rock the look as presented on the runway I think that for the New York Film Festival simpler is better (I don’t think I’ve ever said something like that I’m all about the go big or go home.) I think that the perfect styling for this look would include a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a black satin Roger Vivier ‘Pilgrim’ crystal buckle clutch, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Sin’ crystal embellished strappy sandals, and Chopard diamond cluster earrings.

The 2018 New York Film Festival opens September 28, 2018 and runs through October 14, 2018.

2018 New York Film Festival: “Wildlife” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The New York Film Festival is the third festival that Wildlife will be screened at. It made its world debut earlier this year in the Cannes Film Festival critics week sidebar selection and then just screened again at the Toronto International Film Festival. It doesn’t have much awards buzz behind it, but I still want to see the cast deliver top glamour on the red carpet for this premiere. Carey Mulligan has rocked very chic looks for all the premieres of Wildlife from Dior Couture in Cannes to Chanel Cruise in Toronto. I want to see Carey give a very glamorous moment on this red carpet wearing a metallic rose pink Emilia Wickstead Spring 2019 RTW a-line midi dress which features a square neck, thin straps, and pleated detailing. A year and a half ago this would have been a wishful thinking moment, but I definitely think that with the glamour that Carey has delivered on the red carpet over the last year and a half that this is definitely a real potential option for her to wear on a red carpet like this. I would personally style this dress with a romantic updo, smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of silver Roger Vivier crystal embellished sandals, and a chic vintage 1930’s Cartier art deco diamond necklace to make this that chic and feminine moment I know that Carey does so well on this red carpet. Zoe Kazan is one of the executive producers of Wildlife and while she skipped the films premiere in Toronto she was wearing Schiaparelli Couture for the films premiere in Cannes.I  wondered when J. Mendel filed for bankruptcy if we had seen the last of the brand on the red carpet, but we saw the brand dress several people for the Emmy Awards this past Monday and I am hoping that we see many more moments because the brands Spring 2019 RTW collection is so incredibly beautiful. So with that in mind I want to see Zoe wear this this very chic mint and sand watercolor print J. Mendel Spring 2019 RTW midi dress which features a plunging neckline, ruched waist, and a tiered a-line skirt the premiere at the New York Film Festival. The neckline of this dress is a little deeper than we are used to seeing from Zoe, but I think that she could either have it modified or take the risk. I personally would want to see her take the risk with this dress. Chic waves, defined eyes, soft pink lips, gold Miu Miu metallic crystal embellished leather sandals, and a little sparkle via a pair of Miu Miu crystal and pearl drop earrings all would really ensure this is that chic and flirty moment I know that Zoe could definitely deliver on this red carpet.

The 2018 New York Film Festival opens September 28, 2018 and runs through October 14, 2018.

2018 New York Film Festival: “Her Smell” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Her Smell is a 90’s femme rock story and the cast can deliver some great red carpet moments so I am really looking forward to seeing what they will bring to the red carpet when the film premieres on September 29, 2018. None of the cast members in Her Smell have ever attended a premiere at the New York Film Festival before and I am really excited what each of them she will bring to the festivals red carpet. I am really excited to seeing what Amber Heard is going to the red carpet over the next several weeks and months. She is going to be on a roll and I really want to see the New York Film Festival be the first of many major moments for her. It isn’t very often we see couture on the New York Film Festival red carpet, but I fell in love with the idea of seeing Amber wearing this navy Christian Dior Fall 2018 Couture pleated halter dress which features a plunging neckline, thin belted waist, midi length, and an a-line skirt and it is just simple enough that I think it would be a match made in heaven. It would be that chic and sexy moment for Amber to bring to this red carpet and I think that this ensemble would be perfectly finished with a sleek updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of navy Aquazzura ‘Matilde’ strappy pumps, and simple Cartier diamond and sapphire drop earrings.Ashley Benson has been one that I have either loved or glazed over when it comes to her red carpet looks. The simple red pencil dress she wore for the Toronto Film Festival premiere was one of those looks I just glazed over. I want her to be on top form when it comes time to step out for the films premiere in New York. I would love to see her do so giving Marchesa a chic moment on the red carpet, especially after it was left off the backs of everyone at the Emmy Awards. I think that Ashley would look so incredibly chic wearing this navy and gold Marchesa Spring 2019 RTW off the shoulder a-line midi gown which features feathered details, a satin waistband, and 3D floral embroidery. It is a flirty and feminine yet dark and sexy moment and I think that Ashley would sell it to me with chic waves, smokey eyes, rose pink lips, a black and gold Jimmy Choo ‘J Box’ clutch, and a pair of black and gold Jimmy Choo ‘Emily’ strappy platform sandalsCara Delevingne was back to her go to red carpet standard wearing a mini dress with thigh high books when she stepped out for this films premiere at TIFF. When I saw that sheer striped Balmain mini dress with those boots I just rolled my eyes. I had much higher expectations than what she delivered and I decided to lower those expectations for the New York Film Festival premiere of Her Smell. While Cara wasn’t part of the cast of Riccardo Tisci’s famous model faces at his debut for Burberry I don’t think that we will see Cara not wear one of his creations for the iconic British fashion house. In fact I definitely think that this white Burberry Spring 2019 RTW cocktail dress which features a dotted tulle sweatshirt style overlay, boned bustier bodice, bubble hem, and cutouts on the long sleeves is something totally up Cara’s ally and I think that it would be a really chic moment for this red carpet. I didn’t want to go over the knee boot route, but I did find a great pair of silver crystal embellished and white lace Rene Caovilla peep toe booties that I think would keep edging this look up. A sleek pixie, smokey eyes, pink lips, and a pair of asymmetrical Messika ‘My Twin’ diamond earrings all would ensure that this look is a perfect mixing of edge and glamour.Elisabeth Moss hasn’t wowed me in a really long time. Her custom strapless Vera Wang bustier dress at the Emmy’s was more suited for a party than an awards show. In fact it probably would have been better suited for the New York Film Festival. Since she has an aversion to wearing gowns I am really interested in seeing what she will wear for the New York Film Festival premiere of Her Smell. She isn’t usually one to do couture, except for Dior, so this metallic black Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture ombré cocktail dress which features a strapless neckline, pencil silhouette, hand woven silk tulle tweed enhanced by crystal stones, glass bugles and devoré ostrich feather edging is definitely a risk, but I definitely think that it would be perfect for her. I went through hundreds of options and this Ralph & Russo Couture moment was really the only one that felt right. I wouldn’t have her keep the matching capelet from the runway, it doesn’t really fit her sense of style. Old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a black Rodo crystal embellished clutch, a pair of black Manolo Blahnik ‘Drapia’ tulle crossover sandals, and Harry Kotlar ‘Arabesque’ diamond drop earrings all would allow for the this to be one of Elisabeth’s best red carpet moments ever.

The 2018 New York Film Festival opens September 28, 2018 and runs through October 14, 2018.

2018 New York Film Festival: “The Favourite” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The Favourite is an awards season favorite and I am really excited to see what more will come from the festival tour that the film has been taking. I opened with an amazing gala premiere at the Venice Film Festival, and won Olivia Coleman the Best Actress trophy at the festival as well, and now is slated to open the 2018 New York Film Festival. Usually premieres at the New York Film Festival are a little more mixed. It isn’t the couture fest that we see at Venice and TIFF is even more of a mix. Chic gowns and cocktail moments dominate the NYFF red carpets typically. We typically see Jason Wu, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, and Valentino on the red carpets at this festival and typically they are short. The last time Emma Stone was at the New York Film Festival was when she premiered Birdman at the festivals closing night. Now she will be opening the festival with her next Oscar contender The Favourite. Since her Louis Vuitton campaign was announced she has basically exclusively worn LV on the red carpet, and to be honest despite all of the custom gowns I have designed and all the runway looks I have saved there wasn’t a single look I really wanted to see Emma wear on this red carpet, so instead I went outside of the brand to one of my favorite collections of Spring 2019 RTW. I love when Emma gives a good vintage inspired moment on the red carpet so when I saw this ice blue Richard Quinn Spring 2019 RTW silk flapper dress which features a v-neckline, heavily beaded bodice, and a black feathered hem I immediately thought of what a good moment it would be. Before her LV contract I would have easily picked this dress for Emma without hesitation, but now I feel like a wish like this is falling on walled off ears. I didn’t completely kick LV to the curb opting to pair this dress with a black and silver ‘Petite Malle’ clutch and a pair of black ‘Black Bird’ platform sandals. A finger wave updo, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and sapphire drop earrings all would ensure that this moment is nothing but glamour.Like I said Olivia Coleman won the Best Actress prize at the 2018 Venice Film Festival and while I didn’t know what her style was before the premiere and awards ceremony I feel like I know it a little better now. For the Venice premiere Olivia wore a black Stella McCartney caped jumpsuit and she wore an red Antonio Berardi asymmetrical fitted gown for the awards gala. So I spent hours searching all of the typical British brands and wasn’t thrilled with anything, but then I went back to the Fall 2018 RTW collection from Jenny Packham and saw this simple, yet chic, fitted long sleeve gown which features a v-neckline, gem embellished shoulder detail, and maxi silhouette and it just clicked. I was going to go with black for Emma, but since it was even harder for me to pick a look for Olivia than it was for Emma I went back to the drawing board. I went really simple with the styling too adding her short pixie, defined eyes, red lips, a black Gianvito Rossi ‘Bella’ clutch, and a pair of black Gianvito Rossi ‘Irina’ pumps to really allow for Olivia to continue to deliver very chic and glamorous moments on the red carpet. I was hoping that Taylor Swift was going to jet off to Venice an sneak into the premiere of The Favourite since her boyfriend Joe Alwyn is one of the stars of this film. She didn’t. So I’m not overly hopeful that she will be at the films premiere at the New York Film Festival, but since she doesn’t have a tour date on the night of this premiere I would love to see her support Joe in NYC. I picked this tangerine orange J. Mendel Spring 2019 RTW sweetheart neckline gown which features a fine pleated corseted bodice, metallic print speckled all over, and a sheer pleated skirt for her to wear if she did sneak into this premiere. It is chic and glamorous and I definitely think that it is the perfect bold plus one moment that I want to see Taylor have on this red carpet. A romantic updo, defined eyes, dark red lips, a gold glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Ellipse’ clutch, gold Jimmy Choo ‘Lane’ sandals, and a pair of mandarin garnet and diamond IVY New York drop earrings all would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

The 2018 New York Film Festival opens September 28, 2018 and runs through October 14, 2018.

2018 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

I fell really far behind with my Emmy’s wishes because I was prepping and then dealing with Hurricane Florence. I live just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina so we have been inundated with rain and the power at my house has gone out several times. I am safe but just have had other things that I have had to do instead of focus on my wish lists. I had so many still to go, including for stars who I am expecting to take home trophies tomorrow night, so I decided to throw them all into a gallery so you can see the looks I want to see on the red carpet at the most glamorous night in television.

2018 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

As I have been a lot lately I am running behind so I am going to just get right into these wishes.Earlier this year I had no idea who Betty Gilpin was, but I have slowly started to learn who she is and what her style is. She has rocked looks from Roland Mouret, Alex Perry, and Zac Posen on major red carpets over the last nine months and since she is nominated for her very FIRST Emmy Award for her performance in GLOW I wanted to make sure she made her first appearance on one of my wish lists. I decided to go for a real dramatic and glamorous moment for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nominee and when it comes to dramatic and glamorous moments on the Emmy Awards I’m not sure if anyone has had as many as Zac Posen, so since Betty wore a suit from his line at the MTV Movie & TV Awards earlier this year I thought picking this navy Zac Posen Resort 2019 tulle gown which features a plunging neckline, ruched bodice, and a flared mermaid skirt would be the perfect moment for Betty to rock on the Emmy Awards red carpet. She is one of the two main contenders in the category so I want Betty to be on top form just in case she adds a shiny gold trophy as an accessory during the show. Aside from the Emmy I would style this gown with a pair of multi tone blue Aquazzura ‘Very Holli’ strappy sandals, a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, and a pair of Harry Winston diamond and sapphire cluster earrings to really make this that dramatic and glamorous moment I want from Betty on her first Emmy’s red carpet. Ellie Kemper may not be nominated for an Emmy this year for her performance in The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but it would surprise me if she isn’t on the red carpet support her show which is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. Ellie loves bold colors and prints on the red carpet, even for really formal occasions, so I wanted to keep that alive with the gown I want to see her wearing for the Emmy’s this year. I love this white Sachin + Babi Spring 2019 RTW strapless column gown which features rainbow beaded horizontal stripes and I definitely think that is something right up Ellie’s ally. In fact I had originally picked something else for her to wear for this years Emmy’s but when I saw this lookbook pop up with the new collections from New York Fashion Week I knew that I had to change it up because this is just too perfect. I think that this gown would be perfectly styled for the Emmy’s red carpet with a wavy bob hairstyle, defined eyes, red lips, a yellow velvet Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, gold Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Sophie’ sandals, and 18k gold set diamond flower earrings from Beladora. Will Keri Russell upset last years winner Elisabeth Moss to take home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series trophy on Monday? Anything is possible. The members of the Television Academy have been known to award shows and casts in their final season, especially if they won in the beginning, and I feel like with this past season of The Americans being its last that we could see Keri take home that golden trophy on Monday. I want to see her in high style whether she wins or not. She isn’t really my favorite person to see on a red carpet, but when I was picking looks for this red carpet and I saw this black Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture tuxedo which features an beaded sheer lace peplum tuxedo jacket with attached train and a pair of skinny black ankle length pants I thought it would be a really chic moment for Keri to rock on this red carpet. She doesn’t push the boundaries and while this tuxedo pushes her boundaries a little I think that it still falls inside her comfort zone. A sleek low bun, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Multidita’ strappy lace pumps, a black Judith Leiber Couture coffered rectangle clutch bag, and Harry Kotlar ‘The Vault’ diamond and emerald drop earrings all would make a really chic moment for Keri to bring to this red carpet.Millie Bobby Brown might be the face of Moncler’s Fall 2018 ad campaign, but it doesn’t seem to be affecting her relationship with Calvin Klein, and if her sitting front row at the Calvin Klein Spring 2019 show during New York Fashion Week a few days ago says anything I would bet that we will see her wearing a custom gown from the brand on the red carpet at the Emmy’s on Monday. I love Millie. She is dramatic, glamorous, and age appropriate and I want to see her really have another chic moment on the red carpet on Monday. Last year she rocked a tulle tea length princess gown by Calvin and this year I went for her first floor length red carpet moment with this custom black Calvin Klein by Appointment which features ruffled cap sleeves and a full skirt. This gown takes the shapes as presented in the brands Fall 2018 RTW collection and make them chic and glamorous for the red carpet. Millie hasn’t had a floor length gown moment since she burst onto the scene just over a year ago and what better place for that to happen than the red carpet at the Emmy Awards? I think that the volume of this gown would need sleek styling to make sure that it is perfectly complimented so I would have Millie pair this gown with a sleek low bun, smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Calvin Klein ‘Camelle’ asymmetrical crystal embellished sandals, and a single Messika ‘Solena Maya Mono’ diamond fringe ear cuff to really ensure this look is perfection. Sara Bareilles is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie and while she was fantastic in Jesus Christ Superstar! Live I don’t think that she is going to be the one who is going to take the trophy home. I do however still want to see her give a chic and glamorous moment on the Emmy Awards red carpet on Monday. I went round and round about what to pick for Sara and wasn’t really thrilled with anything, but I saw this burgundy and gold Pamella Roland Resort 2019 crepe gown which features a sheath silhouette with a sequin bodice and floral embroidery and thought it would be a really glamorous moment for her to wear on this red carpet. I think that the modesty panel at the slight v on the neckline would either have to be removed or really match Sara’s skin tone to not be a point of contention, but I know that the team who handle the VIP PR for Pamella Roland would make sure that isn’t an issue and aside from that add old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, burgundy Casadei crossover strap sandals, and a pair of IVY New York rhodolite, spinel, and diamond drop earrings and this will be a very chic and flirty moment for Sara. Tracee Ellis Ross took in the Valentino Fall 2018 Couture collection front row and I have been dying to see her wearing the brands looks on the red carpet ever since. She had talked about tearing up when she saw the marigold taffeta gown that closed the show and I was originally going to put that in this wish list, but then Beyonce grabbed it up for her On The Run II tour wardrobe and that idea died. I decided to pick another gown from that collection for Mrs Ross, who is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, with this red sleeveless gown which features beaded striped and dark red velvet panels on the mermaid hem. I originally had picked this gown for Julianne Moore to wear for anything, but I definitely think that Tracee would make this the truly major moment that I know it could be on the red carpet. It is modern and dramatic and I think that with some sort of braided updo, defined eyes, red lips, a red Judith Leiber Couture ‘Siam’ faceted clutch, a pair of red velvet Alexandre Vauthier ‘Yasmin’ crystal buckled sandals, and Harry Winston diamond and ruby cluster earrings that Tracee would be one of the best dressed of the night.

The 2018 Emmy Awards will take place on Monday September 17, 2018.

2018 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

I’m already behind on my Emmy Awards wishes and I actually live in North Carolina, so depending on how Hurricane Florence affects the part of my state I may or may not lose power and then I won’t be able to keep updating If I Was A Stylist. I am not expecting that to happen. But just wanted you all to know where things will stand. So with that being said I am really excited about the wishes in this latest post.Angela Sarafayn has always intrigued me. She is a sleek modern beauty and while she personally isn’t nominated I would be surprised if she isn’t on the red carpet on Monday to support he show Westworld. Last year we saw Angela as a ray of sunshine in a bold yellow Elizabeth Kennedy gown on the Emmy Awards red carpet. For this year I went more glamorous and angelic for Angela with this white Antonio Grimaldi Fall 2018 Couture column gown which features a crystal embellished bodice and an attached cape train. It is a very chic moment and we have seen quite a few international stars wearing Antonio Grimaldi on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival and I definitely think that Angela is the perfect person to bring this gown to life on the Emmy Awards red carpet especially when styled with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark red lips, a white pearl embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, white Jimmy Choo ‘Talia 100’ sandals, and a pair of Hueb ‘Labyrinth’ diamond cluster starburst earrings. Elizabeth Debicki finally really owned up to her level of glamour this past week while promoting a couple of her films in Toronto wearing Armani Prive, Schiaparelli, and Prabal Gurung and I am praying that she delivers something amazing on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Monday. I swapped out the Armani Prive gown I had originally picked for Elizabeth to wear on this red carpet for this grey and yellow ombré Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture pleated chiffon gown which features a plunging neckline, asymmetrical draping, a gold belted waist, and cape because that original gown was too similar to the look that she just work in Toronto. I think that Elizabeth would totally be one of the most ethereal ladies on the red carpet wearing this Elie Saab Couture gown. It is very chic and I feel like the charcoal grey and dusty lemon coloring would look so chic against Elizabeth’s skin tone. A romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of two tone gold Saint Laurent ‘Amber 105’ sandals, and 19th century Fred Leighton diamond drop earrings (the bottom right ones) all would really add the perfect finishing touches to this moment for Elizabeth. Kate McKinnon has been very up and down with her style in my opinion. I really want to see the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nominee and presenter bring a really chic moment to the Emmy Awards red carpet on Monday. That is why I went to this red Naeem Khan Resort 2019 one shoulder gown which features a draped, one shoulder bodice, cape detail, and a column silhouette. I am obviously predicting a lot of cape styles for this years red carpet. I love the trend. They add a bit of drama to simple styles and I think that is exactly why I wanted to pick this gown for Kate. Without the cape this is just another one shoulder column gown, but the cape adds just the right amount of drama to really up the glamour level of this look. I think that with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, red Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Sophie’ patent leather sandals, and a pair of Djula ‘Beverly Hills’ princess cut diamond wreath earrings that this would just be a really glamorous moment for Kate to wear on the Emmy Awards red carpet. Maisie Williams, AKA Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, also may not be nominated for an Emmy Award this year (or presenting as far as I am aware,) but I would be shocked not to see her on the red carpet supporting her nominated co-stars and the show itself which is also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. The two times that Maisie has attended the Emmy Awards she has opted for short dresses from British designers Abby Brown and Markus Lufper. I decided to keep the spirit of that idea alive, and keep the British designer tradition, by opting for this iridescent white Huishan Zhang Fall 2018 RTW ‘Madaket’ gown which features a crew neckline, a fitted bodice, and a full skirt layered over a mini skirt. I feel like we don’t see enough Huishan Zhang on the red carpet and I definitely think that this fun gown is totally something that Maisie would wear on the red carpet. I want to keep the fun nature of this gown alive in the styling as well so I would opt to have Maisie pair this gown with a curly bob hairstyle, defined eyes, pink lips, pink neon glitter Sophia Webster ‘Soleil’ ruffled leather sandals, and statement pink sapphire, ruby, diamond, and pink opal Anabela Chan ‘Passiflora’ earrings. Sandra Oh is nominated for her first Emmy in nine years for her performance in Killing Eve. She is the first Asian American actress nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and very well could take home the trophy, though the category is extremely tough. I turned back to the same brand that delivered one of my favorite red carpet moments that Sandra has had in the past, Marchesa. The brand dressed Sandra in a gold embroidered column gown for the 2009 Emmy Awards and I loved it. For this years red carpet I went for a more detailed gown than I think we have ever seen Sandra wearing on the red carpet, but I definitely think that this antique silver Marchesa Pre-Fall 2018 column gown which features a plunging V neckline, fully beaded silver metallic lace, with tiers of ostrich feather fringe would be a really glamorous option for the red carpet. Aside from Scarlett Johansson, Gwen Stefani, and Vanessa Hudgens we haven’t seen Marchesa on the red carpet since the Weinstein scandal broke almost a year ago. I feel like with her history with the brand that Sandra would be the perfect person to give the brand a major red carpet moment at the 2018 Emmy Awards. I think that styling this gown with a loose romantic updo, smokey eyes, antique rose lips, a champagne glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Trinket’ clutch, a pair of nude crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pointed toe pumps, and Niwaka ‘Hanayuki’ diamond floral chandelier earrings would all make sure that this that major moment I know it could be. Tina Fey may have lost the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series trophy to Tiffany Haddish over this past weekend at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, but we will still see her at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday as a presenter. I feel like over the last two years Tina has really played with fashion, and I have loved it. I thank her stylist Cristina Ehrlich for pushing her out of what was her comfort zone and I cannot wait to see what they will bring to the red carpet at Emmy Awards on Monday night. I went for a chic, yet still bold, statement picking this black Viktor & Rolf Sior Resort 2019 gown which features a column silhouette with a draped multicolor sequin striped one sleeved neckline and a thigh high slit. This gown is sexy and glamorous while still being very classic in its shape and I definitely think that while it definitely continues to push Tina’s comfort zone that it would be a really glamorous moment for her to bring to this red carpet. I wouldn’t want to take anything away from that sequined sleeve and neckline so I would personally style this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a black satin Inge Christopher crystal embellished clutch, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Nathalie’ sandals, and simple Harry Winston white and pink diamond drop earrings to really let the gown stay the statement of this ensemble.

The 2018 Emmy Awards will take place on Monday September 17, 2018.

2018 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The 2018 Emmy Awards are just around the corner and I am really interested in seeing what everyone is going to bring to the red carpet. I want to see everyone really knock it out of the park this year. I feel like the expectations from last year including Nicole Kidman in Calvin Klein, Zoe Kravitz in Christian Dior Couture, Thandie Newton in Jason Wu, Tracee Ellis Ross in Chanel Couture, and Mandy Moore in Carolina Herrera are leaving high expectations for this year. The level of glamour we have seen over the course of this year makes me believe that we will see some really major moments from this years red carpet.Allison Janney has had a major year style wise with her Yanina Couture at the SAG Awards and the Reem Acra to pick up her Oscar. She is nominated yet again for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Mom and I feel like she will deliver another chic moment on the red carpet at the Emmy’s on Monday. I went for dazzling disco glamour opting to put Allison in this red Jenny Packham Resort 2019 ‘Niari’ long sleeve sequin gown which features a column silhouette with a draped plunge neckline. It isn’t that bold winning moment that we saw Allison wearing during awards season, but since she isn’t exactly the favorite to win I think it is the perfect look for her to wear for this years Emmy Awards. Glamorous waves, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a red crushed velvet Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ clutch, red Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ sandals, and a selection of Martin Katz jewels including a pair of diamond and ruby teardrop pendant earrings and a matching cocktail ring would all ensure that this is another really glamorous moment for Allison.Elisabeth Moss has rocked tea length dresses for almost every red carpet over the last year including Prabal Gurung Atelier at the 2017 Emmy’s, Christian Dior Couture at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, and Adam Selman at the 2018 SAG Awards. I want to see Elisabeth really wow me when she steps onto the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Monday night. She is facing some stiff competition to take home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in The Handmaid’s Tale for a second year in a row. If she does take the trophy home I want to see her doing it in bold style. I created this custom purple Christian Dior Couture strapless gown which features a pleated chiffon bustier bodice, belted waist, and a silk pleated mermaid skirt out of two very different gowns that came down the brands Fall 2018 Couture collection. She hasn’t done a bold color moment like this in a really long time and I definitely think that the Emmy Awards red carpet would be the perfect place for her to do so especially when paired with a romantic updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a matching purple Judith Leiber slide lock clutch, purple suede Marskinryyppy ‘Pauwau’ sandals, and Hueb ‘Apus’ diamond cluster earrings. Judith Light is the queen of the red carpet pantsuit and I decided I wanted to see that continue when she steps onto the 2018 Emmy Awards red carpet where she is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie as her role in Marilyn Miglin in the hit limited series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. I want to see Judith rock the red carpet giving us some Prince vibes wearing this black beaded Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Fall 2018 tuxedo paired with a white blouse with a ruffled bodice and cuffs. It is bold and sexy while being a major fashON moment. I think that if Judith rocked this tuxedo with a black velvet Judith Leiber Couture ‘Natalie’ clutch, smokey eyes, nude lips, her signature hairstyle, black Christian Louboutin ‘Twistissima Strass’ crystal embellished mesh pumps, and a pair of Neil Lane blue tanzanite and diamond teardrop earrings that she would be another of my favorite stars on this gown on the red carpet. I have been thinking about what I want Mandy Moore to wear for the 2018 Emmy Awards since she made the rounds with her new stylist Cristina Ehrlich during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. The first show of that trip that Mandy attended was the Schiaparelli Fall 2018 Couture collection and while she was also at Dior, Ronald Van Der Kemp, Ralph & Russo, and Fendi it was this strapless black velvet a-line gown which features an asymmetrical crystal beaded fringe embellished bustier bodice that stuck in my mind. It isn’t a boundary pushing or really dramatic moment, but since Mandy isn’t actually nominated I think that it would be the perfect couture moment for her to bring to this red carpet. Pair it with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a black Roger Vivier satin clutch with a pearl fringe crystal buckle detail, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Sin’ strappy sandals, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. jewels including diamond leaf cluster earrings and a diamond and pearl three globe ring to really ensure this looks is glamour defined from head to toe. At the Creative Arts Emmy Awards this past weekend Samira Wiley took home the trophy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series and it would shock me if we don’t see her on the red carpet Monday at the Primetime Emmy Awards. Samira has a sense of style that I am always interested to see on the red carpet. Since she won’t be taking home a trophy on Monday night I wanted to go for something bold yet simple. When I saw this lapis blue Cushnie Resort 2019 ‘Belle’ off the shoulder gown which features a square lace trimmed neckline and a fitted silhouette it just made perfect sense for me to pick for Samira. It is that bold glamorous moment that I really think that Samira would be able to sell me on the red carpet. Short curls, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of matching lapis blue Versace platform sandals, and a pair of Hueb ‘Luminus’ diamond and tanzanite cluster earrings all would keep this as that bold moment I am hoping for. Tiffany Haddish skipped attending the Creative Arts Emmy Awards this past weekend, where she won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, instead she was making the rounds at New York Fashion Week with her stylist Law Roach. I am loving what the two have cooked up for the red carpet since they started working together and I would love to see Tiffany jet off to LA for the Emmy Awards on Monday night. Since she would be a guest, and probably get some photos in the press room with her award, I wanted to go glamorous yet edgy so I turned to Brandon Maxwell. Tiffany first wore Brandon Maxwell for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and then she was his guest at the Met Gala and his was the show that she was at when she could have been picking up her Emmy Award. I looked at all different kind of looks for her to bring to life on the red carpet and I fell in love with this bold red Brandon Maxwell Spring 2019 RTW ensemble which features a cap sleeve cape top with a high center split and mock neck and a pair of high waisted wide leg pants. It is a bold choice for Tiffany to make for this red carpet, but I think that if anyone could sell it to me for the Emmy Awards it would be her especially when paired with a red satin Versace ‘Medusa Lock’ box clutch, a sleek bob, defined eyes, matching red lips, and a pair of red Casadei crossover strap sandals.

The 2018 Emmy Awards will take place on Monday September 17, 2018.

2018 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Today is going to be a busy day on If I Was A Stylist. So far I have already posted by Best of Venice list and my first set of Emmy Awards wishes. Here we are on my second set of Emmy wishes and and there is still one more set that I have planned to go up today. Alison Brie has been knocking it out of the park so far this year and for the 2018 Emmy Awards, where her Netflix series GLOW is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, I want to see her deliver some real glamour on the red carpet. I think that she would do just that wearing this charcoal grey Ralph & Russo Fall 2018 Couture polka dot tulle strapless gown which features a structured corset embellished with scattered silver sequins and Swarovski mirrored stones. It is a very glamorous moment. It would be perfect if Alison is one of the presenters (that hasn’t been announced yet) and gave this dazzling princess moment to us on this red carpet when paired with a glamorous updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a silver Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of silver Aquazzura ‘Linda’ sandals, and a selection of Neil Lane jewels including pear shaped diamond drop earrings and an art deco diamond bracelet. Edie Falco isn’t one of my favorite stars to see on the red carpet, but since she is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in Law & Order True Crime: The Menedez Murders I felt obligated to pick a gown for her to wear on next Monday’s red carpet. I went for a bold and chic moment with the bright yellow Rani Zakhem Spring 2018 Couture sleeveless gown which features a ruched bodice and a column skirt. It would be a very beautiful and bold moment for Edie to bring to life on this red carpet and I definitely think that with a romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a yellow velvet Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, and nude Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pumps.Over this past weekend John Legend became an EGOT winning Outstanding Variety Special (Live) as a producer of Jesus Christ Superstar! Live in Concert. His Emmy winning streak might not be over yet. He looked very chic wearing a black jacquard Ermenegildo Zegna Couture tuxedo at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards this past weekend, and for the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony on Monday I went just a little bit bolder with this Tom Ford Spring 2019 Menswear tuxedo which features a metallic gold shawl collar tuxedo jacket and skinny black pants. Pair it with a crisp white tuxedo shirt, black silk bow tie, and a pair of black Tom Ford patent leather smoking loafers to really make it an incredible statement moment for John. On July 8th Zuhair Murad posted a photo on Instagram of the bodice of this dark red Zuhair Murad Fall 2018 Couture sheer lace and velvet gown and Chrissy Teigan commented in all caps “EMMYS PLEASE.” I wasn’t the thrilled with this gown when I first saw it, but I have to say that it very well could be a really glamorous moment, if she has it lined. Chrissy would obviously be attending as John’s plus one and I really do think that it would be a really beautiful moment on this red carpet. With it lined, a sleek updo, smokey eyes, matching dark red lips, a red Marchesa ‘Beth’ glitter acrylic clutch, a pair of red and black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Sylvia’ velvet and crystal sandals, and Hueb ‘Luminous’ diamond cluster earrings I definitely know that this would be one of Chrissy’s most glamorous red carpet moments ever. Stranger Things star Sadie Sink might not be nominated for an Emmy Award but I would bet that she will be among her cast members supporting the show on the red carpet at the Emmy’s on Monday. Earlier this year Sadie worked the red carpet at the Golden Globes wearing custom Miu Miu and the SAG Awards wearing Chanel ready-to-wear so she has set the bar of expectations high on this red carpet. I want to see Sadie have her first couture moment on this red carpet wearing this light yellow Chanel Spring 2018 Couture tea length gown which features a tweed bodice and silk skirt. It is definitely something that I feel like the 16 year old red headed actress will make it a totally chic moment for this red carpet. A sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, and a pair of gold Sophia Webster ‘Chiara’ butterfly wing sandals all would ensure that this moment is the perfect moment for Sadie to wear for her first Emmy Awards red carpet. Thandie Newton owned the Emmy Awards red carpet last year wearing a dusty mauve custom Jason Wu ball gown. It was a major contender to make my Best Dressed of the Year list last year, and it almost did. I have heard Westworld is a major contender to win awards this year and I want to see Thandie own this red carpet again this year. I think that for this years red carpet that going the couture route with this sexy red sequin Valentino Spring 2018 Couture strapless tea length gown which features a dramatic train would be the perfect option. I love this gown. I really cannot believe it hasn’t been worn yet, and I do really believe that Thandie would be the perfect person to really give this sexy and glamorous gown the moment it deserves on the red carpet. Pair it with simple red Gucci ‘Ilse’ patent leather strappy sandals, a sleek low bun, smokey eyes, red lips, and a pair of Cartier diamond and ruby drop earrings to really ensure that this moment is sleek and sexy from head to toe.

The 2018 Emmy Awards will take place on Monday September 17, 2018.
