2019 Berlin Film Festival: “The Operative” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

I won’t lie to you I thought I had everything in black for my 2019 Berlin Film Festival wishes, and I was on the Berlin website to get some information about a film that I know about and I found a Diane Kruger film and couldn’t not take the time to put out some wishes into the universe for her. She will be on hand to promote her newest film The Operative and since Berlin has been a place that Diane has flourished in the past I am really excited to see what she may wear this year.In the past Diane Kruger has taken looks from Vionnet, Giambattista Valli Couture, Elie Saab, Chanel, and Zac Posen. I decided to snatch two looks right off the runways in Paris for Diane to bring to life during her appearances at this years festival. Most of the wishes I have for this years festival I decided not to pick looks for the ladies to wear for the photocalls for their films, but when it came to Diane I was searching for a gown from Chanel for her to wear for the premiere of The Operative when I saw this Chanel Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which features a intricately sequined short sleeve bodice and a feather mini skirt and it was just the perfect look for her to wear for a photocall. The look is great and I can rest easy in tasking Diane to wear this look because she has that effortless glamour. Add a low chignon, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of white Jimmy Choo ‘Viola’ crystal embellished satin sandals with a feather tassel detail and I know I would be the human embodiment of the heart eye emoji. For the premiere I decided to go high low for Diane with this bold red Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 Couture gown which features bow inspired sleeves, a short shift style skirt, and a dramatic train. In this gown Diane could be the human embodiment of the dancing woman in the red dress emoji. I was smitten with this gown the moment I saw it came down the runway and I definitely believe that Diane would be able to sell it to me. I decided that I would love to see Aquazzura custom make a pair of the ‘Concorde’ crystal embellished heel peep toe d’orsay pumps in red to match this dress. Add a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection ruby and diamond chandelier earrings would ensure that this is another absolutely major moment for Diane to bring to life during the Berlin Film Festival.  Today is the first black gown that I have picked for Juliette Binoche to wear for the 2019 Berlin Film Festival. I am expecting a couture fest from her over the course of her time as the president of this years jury. She could deliver some major looks right off the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week runways. I have another Dior gown I don’t hate for Juliette to wear on this red carpet. I watched this show live and when I saw this black Christian Dior Spring 2019 Couture bow detail column gown which features a portrait neckline, 3/4 length sleeves, and a faux wrap style skirt it was one of those perfect gowns for Juliette to call in for the Berlin Film Festival. The gown didn’t seem to photograph well on the runway, but the livestream made me really love this gown. It would be incredibly chic with a loose updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, black satin Roger Vivier ‘Sin Drape Cigarette’ pointed toe slingback pumps, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and freshwater pearl drop earrings.

The 2019 Berlin Film Festival opens on Thursday February 7, 2019 and runs through Sunday February 17, 2019.

2019 Berlin Film Festival: “Gully Boy” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

I won’t lie this years Berlin Film Festival official selection is a little lackluster. There are however some stars with real potential to deliver some chic moments on the red carpet. I can almost always count on a Bollywood star to bring a major moment to the red carpet so I am really excited to see what the cast of Gully Boy will bring to the red carpet at their premiere. Alia Bhatt is a 25 year old actress who has rocked looks from Reem Acra, Monsoori, and Zuhair Murad Couture on the red carpet in the past. I am really excited to see what she will bring to this red carpet. The young actress could easily top this years best dressed list. And I wouldn’t doubt it. I would love to see her bring this princess moment from the Ralph & Russo Spring 2019 Couture collection to life on the red carpet. This hot off the runway off white strapless tulle ball gown features a beautifully intricate hand drawn floral print embellished with sequins and silk floss while the sweetheart neckline is trimmed in black silk velvet. This dress could come off as very twee, but from what I have seen of Alia’s style she tends to prefer very sickly sweet looks for the red carpet. I would add a chic and fun shoe statement with black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Peony’ sandals (not that anyone would end up seeing them) with a sleek updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection white opal drop earrings to really make this an absolutely eye catching and romantic moment for Alia to bring to life on this red carpet. I don’t really know what red carpets Juliette Binoche will attend outside of the opening and closing ceremonies at this years Berlin Film Festival, but as the president of the feature film competition I am sure that we will see her a few times over the course of the festival and I am hoping for major moments every time she steps out. She was just in Paris last week taking in several of the couture shows. One of the shows she was seated front row at was the Armani Prive Spring 2019 Couture presentation. I would almost guarantee you that one of Juliette’s red carpet moments over the course of this festival is going to be courtesy of the Italian couturier. Of the 6 looks that I have picked for Juliette to wear this year half are black, but the other three are bold colors. This red and blue column gown from that collection that Juliette took in from the front row which features a red ruched bodice with long sequined sleeves and a square neckline and a micro pleated column skirt was the piece that I really loved for Juliette. The gown was paired with a thick red plastic fringe statement necklace on the runway that I would personally have Juliette leave at home. I would add a sleek bouffant updo, defined eyes, red lips, a red satin Roger Vivier crystal buckle envelope clutch, a pair of red satin Roger Vivier ‘I Love Vivier’ pointed toe pumps, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection intricate diamond and ruby chandelier earrings to finish this look in a bold glamorous manner.

The 2019 Berlin Film Festival opens on Thursday February 7, 2019 and runs through Sunday February 17, 2019.

2019 Berlin Film Festival: Opening Ceremony & “The Kindness of Strangers” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Today we start a very quick four day break from awards season to talk about the red carpets at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival which kicks off in about a week from now. It will kick off with the premiere of Lone Scherfig’s The Kindness of Strangers. When it comes to the various film festivals Berlin isn’t usually the most star studded, but stars can deliver major moments on this red carpet. When I think of the Berlin Film Festival red carpet Elle Fanning in Valentino, Diane Kruger in Vionnet, Rosamund Pike in Givenchy Couture, Cate Blanchett in Yves St Laurent, and Jennifer Connelly in Chanel Couture. So I am hoping for a a few really chic moments on this red carpet. Juliette Binoche is the president of the jury of this years festival and I am really excited to see what she will be pulling out of the box for all of her appearances over the course of the festival. She is always one of my favorites and she can be very underrated. For the opening ceremony gala premiere of The Kindness of Strangers I want to see Juliette kick off her time at the festival in bold style wearing this electric blue Givenchy Spring 2019 Couture gown which features a silk tuxedo inspired double breasted cropped jacket and an a line peplum skirt which features 3D floral detail on the peplum and a lace underskirt. I saw this gown come down the runway last week while I was watching the livestream and I fell in love with the idea of Juliette wearing it in Berlin. I would line the lace skirt as Berlin in February can be quite cold. Add a sleek updo, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of matching blue Christian Louboutin ‘Anjalina’ spike studded suede pumps, and simple Chopard diamond drop earrings and I know that this would be the incredibly bold glamorous moment for Juliette to kick off her Berlinale run. Andrea Riseborough has never been one of my favorites to see on the red carpet to be honest. I had high expectations way back in the day when she first came onto the scene with the premiere of the Madonna directed film W.E. but she definitely makes me scratch my head in general. I want to see Andrea deliver an interesting avant garde moment on the red carpet at the Berlinale premiere of her film The Kindness of Strangers. I would have expected that I would have picked something right off a Paris runway, but I went back to last season couture shows for the perfect gown for Andrea to wear on this red carpet. I love the idea of her wearing this black Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture long sleeve gown which features an embellished peplum cage around the bodice, sheer yoke and sleeves, and an ball skirt. It is the perfect meshing of Andrea’s edgy and avant garde style and the more classic glamour I think needs to be infused into it to really make Andrea a red carpet style star. I think that if she paired this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Betty’ platform chunky heel sandals, and a pair of Vhernier ‘Vague’ black diamond ear clips all would make this one of the best looks that Andrea has ever worn. Zoe Kazan has been low key recently and I won’t lie I was excited to see that she was on the list of the cast of the film opening the 2019 Berlin Film Festival. I love her glam bohemian style and I really want to see her bring that to the red carpet at the premiere of The Kindness of Strangers. I may not love me Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior I do think that there are some “hero” gowns in the ranks of her latest collection. This blush pink Christian Dior Spring 2019 Couture a-line gown which features structured straps, straight neckline, beaded fan details, a nipped in waist, all over pleating, and an a-line skirt was one of those pieces. It is nothing boundary pushing, but it is really beautiful and I definitely think that it would be something that Zoe would be drawn to. I think it fits her love of all things bohemian glam and is perfect for a film festival red carpet. Bulgari ‘Divas Dream’ drop earrings in 18kt rose gold with pink rubellite, amethyst and diamonds, a romantic updo, soft smokey eyes, blush pink lips, and rose gold crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ box clutch and matching ‘Ari’ crystal cluster detail pointed toe pumps all would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble for Zoe.

The 2019 Berlin Film Festival opens on Thursday February 7, 2019 and runs through Sunday February 17, 2019.

2019 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Earlier I put my wishes out into the universe for the ladies nominated for Best Actress at this years Academy Awards, and Best Actor nominee Rami Malek, to wear on the red carpet at the Oscar Nominees Luncheon next Monday. Now it is time to celebrate the five beautiful women who are nominated for Best Supporting Actress. I don’t think that this title is going to be as much of a fight as the Best Actress winner. There is a clear favorite to win and anyone else winning would be a major upset. Amy Adams was a favorite to win this year, it is her sixth nomination after all, but after loosing the trophy at all the other major awards this season I don’t think that she will end up with a little gold man this year either. I personally love Amy and I believe that her performances in Arrival (which she wasn’t even nominated for) and American Hustle should have earned her one of those coveted trophies, but I guess Amy is just going to have to keep on working. I have been all over the map with her style this year so far from indifferent, to loathing, to love. She finally got it very right wearing a custom black Celine peplum ruffled column gown this past Sunday at the SAG Awards. I want her to keep her momentum going stepping onto the red carpet at the Oscar nominees luncheon wearing this white and black floral print Maticevski Spring 2019 RTW off the shoulder pencil dress. I was looking for chic ‘ladies who lunch’ looks for this red carpet and I saw this dress and had to figure out which nominee I thought would look the best in it. Immediately my mind went to Amy. She loves a great structured dress and I definitely think she would be able to sell this dress to me on this red carpet. Pair it with chic waves, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Jumping’ asymmetrical strap patent leather pumps and it would just scream lady like glamour from head to toe. Emma Stone set the bar really high for herself kicking off awards season wearing a blue, purple, and silver metallic floral print jumpsuit from Louis Vuitton on the red carpet at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. It was one of the best LV moments that Emma has ever had. Unfortunately she hasn’t been able to sell anything else to me over the course of this awards season at all. I was really hoping she would. I had hopes that maybe she would step away from LV and give some chic looks from friends like Givenchy, Erdem, and Prada. But that has been a no go. So I have to say I had a hard time finding the right look for her to wear on this red carpet next week. I settled on this navy Louis Vuitton bi-material dress which has a plain ribbed knit top combined with a skirt in Monogram tweed. The dress features long sleeves, pockets, and a silver zipper down the front. It isn’t a boundary pushing look by any means, but it would be a chic daytime moment for Emma to wear for the Oscar nominees luncheon especially if paired with sleek hair, navy smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of navy glitter Nicolas Kirkwood ‘Mira’ pearl embellished curved heel pumps, and simple emerald cut diamond Cartier drop earrings. As I said in my earlier post for this red carpet the Academy has really gone crazy for Roma. I was SHOCKED when they announced that Marina de Tavira had earned a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category. She wasn’t nominated at any of the other awards shows so it really did come as a surprise. I am excited though to see what she will bring to the red carpet. She is also working with stylist Sophie Lopez like her fellow nominated co-star Yalitza Aparicio. Sophie has been putting Marina in a lot of Vivienne Westwood lately and I am hoping that since she has earned this nomination we see her expand her world of designers. I thought that this white Carolina Herrera Spring 2019 RTW off the shoulder shift dress which feature orange banding on the neckline, floating chiffon sleeves, and colorful floral embroidery would be a perfect look for Marina to bring to this red carpet. The appropriate look for this red carpet is the perfect meshing of casual and cocktail and I definitely think that this dress achieves that perfect balance of the two. It could be very cocktail, but it could also be very beachy casual as well. A romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver, blush and gold Gucci ‘Millie’ sandals, and Irene Neuwirth ‘Gumball Grape’ chrysoprase drop earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to ensure that balance is perfect. I am blaming Rachel Weisz’s poor fashion choices this year on the fact that she just had a baby. I don’t want that to sound like she is showcasing post baby weight or anything because I don’t think that. I just think that maybe some sleep deprivation that comes with just having a baby has clouded her judgement about what is good and what is not. I really want Rachel to get back on top form starting Monday at the Oscar nominees luncheon and just keep on hitting a stride all the way through the Oscars. She is a beautiful woman so I know that she can really deliver a chic moment on the red carpet. I decided to channel Rachel’s inner “Pretty Woman” with this chocolate brown Prada polka dotted crepe de chine midi dress which features a classic mock neck, gold button detailed cinched waist, and a micro-pleated A-line skirt. I don’t think anyone can wear a brown polka dotted dress without some sort of comparison being made to Julia Roberts iconic character and her polo ensemble. I definitely think that this would be a really chic moment on Rachel and adding a sleek bun, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of simple brown suede Sergio Rossi pointed toe pumps would ensure that this is a perfect look for her to hit her stride in. Last, but not least, is the gorgeous Regina King. I think that she is most likely going to take home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her performance in If Beale Street Could Talk. Typically the SAG Awards predicts who will win the Oscar, but Regina wasn’t nominated for a SAG Award and the winner Emily Blunt didn’t get an Oscar nomination. So I think that bodes really well for Regina taking home a little gold man at the end of next month. I have LOVED what she has been wearing on the red carpet so far this awards season and I cannot wait to see more. She is one of the few stars who I picked a hot off the runway couture look to wear for this daytime event for. I was looking for the perfect look and when I saw this acid green Ralph & Russo Spring 2019 Couture suit which features an embroidered gold and green crystal serpent belt I fell in love. It is more of a fashion moment that I typically expect from Regina, but I definitely think that she would sell this look to me like it owes her back rent. A sleek bob, simple defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of lime suede Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pointed toe pumps would all ensure that Regina kicks off the final dash to the Oscars in high style.

The 2019 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon will take place on Monday February 4, 2019.

2019 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

We are under a month away from the 2019 Academy Awards. Does anyone else feel like awards season just started and we are already half way to the end of it. We just have the Grammy’s, BAFTA’s, Costume Designers Guild Awards, and the Independent Spirit Awards standing between us and the Oscars, awards event wise at least. We will get all the nominees all together next Monday February 4, 2019 for the annual Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon. This red carpet is where the nominees go to do press and schmooze to win over Academy voters. Glenn Close is not officially the front runner to take home the Best Actress award home at this years Academy Awards and I am really excited to see what she will wear from here on out. She has given us all kinds of chic looks from designers like Armani and Ralph Lauren and I only want to see her continue to grow. For this daytime red carpet I went with one of the most dazzling moments that Glenn has worn in a while with this baby blue Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture double breasted suit which features intricate sequin embroidery on the blazer and an asymmetrical draped detail down one hip. Glenn has loved a good suit, or suit inspired, look this awards season and I definitely think that she could bring this soft blue suit to life on the red carpet for this luncheon. This is one of the few red carpets where I think that Hollywood stars don’t stray away from wearing couture in the daylight outside of the Cannes Film Festival and I would love to see Glenn have that hot off the runway couture moment especially when paired with her signature hairstyle, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and simple gold Manolo Blahnik ‘Allura’ slingback pumps. Heading into awards season I would have expected that Lady Gaga was going to walk home with two little gold men at the end of next month, but if she is going to loose Best Actress to anyone I am okay with it being lost to Glenn Close. I still believe that she will walk away with one Oscar for Best Original Song and I honestly I am super excited to see what she will bring to the red carpets in the final push to the end of awards season. She was the only person on Sunday night at the SAG Awards to snatch a look right off the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week runways for the red carpet, and I am doing it again for the perfect look for her to wear on Monday at the Oscar Nominees Luncheon with this black and white Chanel Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which feature a white tiered pleated tulle a-line cocktail dress paired with a blacked waxed silk boat collar cropped jacket with 3/4 length sleeves. It has been a real hot minute since Gaga has worn Chanel but I was instantaneously sold that this was the perfect look for her to wear for this red carpet next week. I would totally go over the top with the styling adding a sleek vintage updo, thick winged smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Goyetta’ satin pearl broach embellished t-strap pointed toe pumps, and vintage Tiffany & Co. diamond and pearl cluster earrings to really ensure that this look is perfection from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. Melissa McCarthy has been serving chic looks this awards season, but I am still wanting something more from her. I know her stylist Chloe Hartstein, who also dresses Glenn Close, has been working with the online luxury retailer for women with curves 11Honore. So I turned to the online retailer to find the perfect look for Melissa to wear on Monday as the Oscar nominees luncheon. I saw this bold tangerine orange Altuzarra ‘Kat’ wrap style dress and was sold immediately. Melissa doesn’t do bold color like this very often, but I definitely think that she would really be able to make this dress come to life on the red carpet. It doesn’t take a big couture look to have the perfect look for this red carpet and I definitely think that this would be that bold, structured style moment that I am really craving from Melissa. Add chic waves, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of matching orange Bally ‘Ewa’ mid heel pointed toe pumps, and Marco Bicego ‘Paradise’ mixed stone and gold tear drop fringe double drop earrings would all make this a fantastic moment for Melissa to bring to life on this red carpet. Olivia Colman surprisingly skipped the SAG Awards earlier this past weekend, but I do expect to see her on the red carpet next Monday at the Oscar nominees luncheon. She has been a huge supporter of British labels on the red carpet since the promo tour for The Favourite kicked off, and I don’t expect it to change anytime soon. I think that we will see Olivia wearing British designers for all the awards events between now and the Oscars. She has yet to wear a Burberry look on the red carpet and I am a little surprised. I would love to see her wearing this black draped bodice Burberry by Riccardo Tisci Pre-Fall 2019 long sleeve midi dress. It fits Olivia’s chic no muss no fuss style and is the right kind of classic for her to wear for the Oscar nominees luncheon. I would keep the same low chunky heel pointed toe sling backs that the dress was paired with in the lookbook adding defined eyes and soft pink lips to really bring this look together. I will say that I was a little bit surprised that Yalitza Aparicio got nominated. The Academy really seemed to LOVE Roma and so I wouldn’t count her as a dark horse out to upset Glenn, Gaga, and Olivia in the Best Actress category at the Oscars. She has been gaining her red carpet footing thanks to stylist Sophie Lopez, who most notably dresses Kate Hudson, and I am very excited to see what Yalitza will wear for the rest of awards season. I went dark, but chic with this aubergine Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2019 long sleeve bias cut knee length dress which features a high collar and keyhole cutout on the bodice because I can imagine this color being absolute magic against Yalitza’s skin. I would style the look with sleek center parted hair, simple defined eyes, a cinnamon red lip, and a pair of black Nicolas Kirkwood ‘Annabel’ pearl detail chunky heel platform sandals to really make sure that Yalitza keeps delivering chic moments on the red carpet.Rami Malek is the only dude who I am making a wish for the Oscar Nominees Luncheon this year. He has been delivering chic looks on the red carpet all awards season long and as the front runner to win this years Best Actor award I am really interested in seeing what else he will bring to the red carpet over the next four weeks. I went for a great casual moment right off the Paris Fashion Week – Menswear runways with this Celine Fall 2019 Menswear ensemble which features a grey baseball jacket trimmed in black leather paired with a black and white striped turtleneck (that I think he should swap for a black and white striped t-shirt for temperature reasons) and a pair of black ankle length pants. Add a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Mortisky’ thick soled monk strap loafers and I would definitely be on board with this look from Rami.

The 2019 Academy Award Nominees Luncheon will take place on Monday February 4, 2019.

20 Looks From Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Spring 2019 I Love

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week just wrapped up and it left me utterly inspired. I was excited from the first moments with Schiaparelli to the breathtaking finale with Valentino. There seemed to be more shows at couture week than ever. It gave way to many younger couture houses like Ashi Studio, Rami Kadi, August Getty, and Yolancris all showing their first runway show during the week. Atelier Versace still remains a private appointment only presentation in Paris. It was choc full of many potential red carpet moments that it was hard to narrow the list down to the 20 looks I loved the most and really want to see brought to life on the red carpet. 834 looks were saved to my archive and are laying in wait to be used for events like the Grammy Awards and the Oscars, the Met Gala and the Cannes Film Festival, and more. Alexandre Vauthier: We have seen Alexandre Vauthier giving a lot of 80’s takes on shapes over the last couple of seasons. That didn’t change much this season, but it was mixed with a 60’s vibe. I learned to love Vauthier because of his exuberant sex appeal and there was definitely a lot in this latest collection. He only sent two tea length gowns down the runway. Everything else was shorter. It was a butter yellow portrait neckline mini dress which features a bubble hem, a ruched draped bodice and waist, and dramatic puffy sleeves was the stand out look from this collection to me, though there were several, and I want to entrust  Ciara with bringing it to life on the red carpet. She hast the statuesque glamour and edgy presence to really make a look like this, with those sleeves, work.

Alexis Mabille: I always am excited for what Alexis Mabille is going to send down the runway. It usually isn’t very surprising as to the aesthetic, as every season has very similar notions about it, but I always love what he does. He knows how to deliver drama and glamour. Personally I think he is a very underrated designer. When it comes to seeing his designs on the red carpet it tends to only happen during the Cannes Film Festival. I would love to see stars step out of the normal small basket of ‘A-list Hollywood designers’ and give some of the really beautiful moments in this collection a shot. Evan Rachel Wood was honestly the first person I thought of with this collection because the moment I saw this long trench dress in black lacquered jersey inlaid with black cross-stitched tulle and jeweled buttons I immediately knew it would be a major moment. I even talked to her stylist about this gown.

Antonio Grimaldi: Antonio Grimaldi is a Rome based couturier, who shoes during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. I first learned who he was last season. His bold use of structure and expert draping really caught my eye. So needless to say I was very intrigued to see what he would bring to the runway this season. He didn’t disappoint. He showed looks that are worthy of walking the red carpets at all of the major events from this coming weekends SAG Awards, to the Grammy’s, to the Oscars, and to the Cannes Film Festival. Something tells me that it will be emerging stars that make this brand a red carpet favorite. Angela Sarafayn is the only star who I have put a look from Antonio Grimaldi on a wish list for, I picked a gown from his Fall 2018 Couture show for her to wear for the Emmy Awards, and I honestly think that the two would be a match made in heaven. I think that she has the presence to really make this white one shouldered ruffled column gown really work. I think that the person who wears this gown needs height, grace, glamour, and presence and Angela has all of that in the perfect package.

Armani Prive: While this list is dominated mostly with newer names to the couture world there was no way I couldn’t give some time to some of the old masters. Mister Giorgio Armani knows how to deliver a collection and a theme. Sometimes I honestly think he gets too into a color palette. This season it was electric blue and fire engine red. Almost every single look in the 86 look collection had some sort of use of one color or the other. It was just a lot of red and blue. If I was shooting a haute couture editorial based on the American two party political system the looks from this collection would be on the top of my call list. I do however want to see many of the looks from this collection on the red carpet. It was heavily about suits and cocktail dresses (a lot of designers showed less gowns this season) and this red and blue color blocked strapless pencil dress which features a sequin patterned bodice was definitely my favorite piece from the collection. The two colors meshed ever so chic-ly together and I feel like it would be the perfect choice for Anne Hathaway to get her style back on track. Ashi Studio: The very last show of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week was the runway debut of Ashi Studio. I still remember the first time I fell in love with an Ashi Studio design. It was on Sonam Kapoor and ended up on my Best Dressed of 2015 list. Since then the brand has always presented lookbooks instead of runway shows. This season we saw that change with a very intimate runway show. That didn’t mean that Mr. Ashi decided to tone down the drama, at all. The gowns, cocktail dresses, and jumpsuits in this collection were just as big as ever. I LOVED this bold green off the shoulder silk jumpsuit which features a bubble draped cape and flared leg pants and I want to entrust it to another Bollywood beauty, Deepika Padukone. She took home a spot in my Best Dressed of 2018 list in a look from Ashi and I definitely think that she would really be able to sell this to me as well.

August Getty: This seasons couture week was full of first time presenters. Hollywood party brand August Getty made his Paris debut too. I always associate August Getty with more of a party look, but he gave us (almost) nothing but couture worthy drama with his Spring 2019 Couture collection. I saw this strapless gold fully beaded column gown which features a folded asymmetrical peplum from the waist up on Instagram before I ever saw the lookbook from this collection and I immediately fell in love. We don’t see much August Getty on the red carpet, but this gown definitely deserves a moment. Kristen Bell isn’t usually the first person I think of when I think of couture week wish lists, but I really do think that this gown would really help put Kristen Bell on top of some best dressed lists.

Balmain: Keeping up with couture week debuts is the first couture collection from Balmain under creative director Olivier Rousting. We haven’t seen Balmain on a couture week runway since Oscar de la Renta left the brand in 2002. 17 years later the brands first black creative director took the plunge and put the brand back on the schedule. I was really excited about this collection the way it was being teased in the days leading up to its presentation, but I won’t lie I was very underwhelmed. I have often thought that Olivier takes ideas too far, and that is what happened with a good percentage of this collection. Of the 36 looks in this collection I would just say that about 10 were really worthy of making it of the runway. Most were too over thought. I actually saw this soft pink bell shaped ruffled skirt on Olivier’s Instagram and it was one of the pieces that I was most excited about. I loved the sculpted metal bustier spray painted that he paired with the skirt for the runway. Rihanna was one of the first that came to mind. She knows how to deliver big dramatic moments on the red carpet. My only concern for her wearing this gown would be the fact that I think that it would get a lot of comparisons to the Giambattista Valli Couture gown she wore to the Grammy Awards back in 2015.

Chanel: I let out an audible gasp when I heard that Karl Lagerfeld didn’t take his customary bow at the end of the Chanel Spring 2019 Couture show because he was “very tired.” I think that it made more of a realization that Karl is getting older and that he will not be at the helm of Chanel forever. He hasn’t missed a Chanel show since he took over the reigns of the brand back in 1983. I have to say he might be getting older, 85 to be exact, but he is anything but tired. I think that this collection was his best couture show ever. He somehow continues to top himself. I don’t know how. I don’t want to question it. I just want to continue to savor his creative genius. It was really hard to pick a favorite so I went to the look that made a celeb pop into my head first. I love this ruffled navy cocktail gown which features those bold sleeves, intricate floral embellishments, side cutouts, and flared hem and the moment I saw a photo of this gown on the runway Saoirse Ronan immediately popped into my mind. Elie Saab: When it comes to red carpet gowns we know that we are going to get a whole treasure trove of them on the runway at the Elie Saab Couture show. We haven’t seen as much of his designs on the red carpet, but there are a lot from this collection that I want to see brought to life on the red carpet. The gorgeous Celine Dion might not have taken to the front row at the Elie Saab show, even though she was all over the front rows this season, but I really want to see her give this golden moment a red carpet turn with this gold sequin one shoulder bow detail gown. Celine always delivers a great red carpet moment and I definitely think that this would be perfect for either the red carpet or an on stage performance.

Georges Hobeika: I have long loved Georges Hobeika on the runways and the red carpets and I have to say that the last couple of seasons he has just kept topping himself. He might have a bit of a niche, but he knows how to deliver a new collection each season that always draws me in. This season he was inspired by Marie Antoinette, though my favorite gown was a little more Madame Du Barry. I love this black strapless gown which features a sweetheart neckline, 3D tinsel details, and draped beaded ‘sleeves,’ a ball skirt, and a dramatic train. As soon as I saw this gown I immediately pictured it on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival and who better to give it the moment it deserves than the Queen of Cannes Aishwarya Rai?

Giambattista Valli: Every season Giambattista Valli delivers volume and drama on the runway during Paris Fashion Week. I have long loved Giambattista since the days where before he had a couture label and every season he proves why. His use of ruffles and color always makes my heart flutter. There were A LOT of really great looks but this bold red ruffled mullet gown which features a bow detail off the shoulder sweetheart neckline and a dramatic train really got me excited. I definitely don’t think that this gown will go unworn long. Something tells me Oscar night is the night for this gown and I definitely could see Lily Collins bringing it to life on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Givenchy: Since Clare Waight Keller took over the reigns at Givenchy I have been OBSESSED. She has dressed literally everyone. I love what she has done with the house. She has modernized the codes that Hubert de Givenchy established back in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s for the modern age and does it with ease. She doesn’t send looks down the runway that make me scratch my head. I might not always love everything, but I never hate what she does. Picking one look from this collection was really hard. I did fall in love with this silver cap sleeve intricately embellished cap sleeve gown the moment it came down the runway and it has already been in another wish list (for Gaga to wear at the SAG Awards,) but I can also imagine Julianne Moore rocking this gown on the red carpet up the steps of the Palais de Festivals at the Cannes Film Festival.Iris Van Herpen: I talk about creativity a lot. I always want bold new creative styles, textures, patterns, and embellishments. No one does that quite as well as Iris Van Herpen. The Dutch designer knows how to deliver all of that. She gives me a collection every season that creates new and innovative styles. While the overall vibe doesn’t change from season to season I am always captivated by what she sends down the runway. In fact she can count the queen of androgyny and innovation, Tilda Swinton, as one of her fans as she snatched a gown right off the runway earlier this week hours after it had first been presented. This season was the most ‘wearable’ that we have ever seen Iris send down the runway, but that didn’t mean that she lost any of that innovation that I have long loved about her style. This nude, merlot, and burnt orange cape cocktail dress is probably the most ‘wearable’ piece in this collection and I can only imagine it on the back of the stunning Zendaya. Maybe for the world promotional tour for Spider-Man: Far From Home?

Jean Paul Gaultier: I had pretty much fallen out of love with Jean Paul Gaultier. His designs were coming off very tired and despite couture being the only label he is designing for anymore things were coming off very “Project Runway” instead of Paris Haute Couture. That was not the case this season though. I LOVED a lot of what the iconic French couturier sent down the runway. It had a lot of that edge that made him famous and done in a very modern way. I was taken with this electric blue pleated bodysuit gown which features bold pointed shoulders, padded hips, a plunging neckline, and that waist high center split. It isn’t something many would be able to really make work off the runway, but I would bet that iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell would be up for the challenge.

Ralph & Russo: Would a haute couture wish list be complete without something from Ralph & Russo? The brand delivers chic and glamorous moments every season. I will say that overall this seasons collection wasn’t my favorite. It lacked cohesion. That didn’t stop me from loving looks that came down the runway individually. I absolutely adore this lavender asymmetric lamé off-the- shoulder ball gown, featuring voluminous peplum skirt, high low bubble hemline, and ruffle neckline. Give me a hell of a lot of glamour and the right woman and I know that I could easily fall in love with this on a red carpet. It could easily be worn at any of the remaining awards season events or at the Cannes Film Festival, but wherever it gets it’s moment I would love to see it brought to life by Lady Gaga.

Stephane Rolland: If you are looking for edgy glam then each season you need look no further than Stephane Rolland. He knows how to bring volume, draping, constructing, and drama to a runway. I always get excited about his collections and this season was no different. I won’t lie to you when I say that his shows are not what they used to be, but there are still many chic moments that come down his runway. This asymmetrical cape gown which features a nude pleated under gown was easily one of the best looks to come down the runway in Paris last week. It gives that perfect modern glam moment with just a hint of edge. Cate Blanchett has never worn Stephane Rolland on the red carpet before, but I definitely think that she could handle the task of really bringing this down to life. Tony Ward: I almost always put Tony Ward in the b-list celebrity and pageant girl category, and while most of his Spring 2019 Couture collection was just that there were a few looks that really wowed me. This dark aubergine mermaid gown which features an intricate ‘winged’ bodice was one of those moments. This look was one of the early looks during couture week and being that it was from Tony Ward could have easily meant that it would never have made the cut for this list, but even with all of the historic houses that showed great collections this gown continued to stick in the back of my mind. It was the edgy, dramatic, glamorous, and avant garde moment that I always crave during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week and I know I wouldn’t be disappointed in seeing it on a red carpet. Pink was a star that I remember wearing a Tony Ward creation for the Grammy Awards several years ago. It was one of her best red carpet looks ever and I definitely think that if she turned to the designer again that this gown would be amazing on her.

Valentino: Pierpaolo Piccioli ALWAYS makes my heart flutter when I watch his shows. Since Maria Grazia Chiuri left his side to helm Dior I think that PPP has flourished. I know that he was the one with the creative talent and she held him down. Now that he can take the brand wherever he wants I know that he really is a genius. People literally cry at his couture shows. Last season it was Tracee Ellis Ross and this season it was Celine Dion. He earns those tears and standing ovations because he brings the definition of couture to life. I said to another fashion loving friend as I was watching this show on the livestream that this year at the Met Gala that Valentino should have a huge squad on the red carpet because the bold designs that Pierpaolo sent down this runway all fit the “Camp” theme PERFECTLY. One look I loved in particular was this bold yellow strapless trapeze gown with a dramatic bow attached at the back (big bows were a huge trend this season) and I definitely think that Kiki Layne would be a perfect choice to give this gown a moment, especially if it was for her first Met Gala.

Yolancris: Before seeing this collection the only time I have ever heard of Yolancris, a Barcelona based brand, was through bridal collections and a gown that Lady Gaga wore for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I was really excited though to see what would come from a couture runway show in Paris, and I wasn’t disappointed. This is definitely one of the brands to watch. As the looks came down the runway I pictured all kinds of stars wearing these gowns and cocktail dresses. I really fell in love with this pink intricately beaded one shoulder bow detail column gown and the thought of it on Gwyneth Paltrow really make me excited.

Zuhair Murad: Last but not least is the beautiful Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture collection. I have felt for a while now that Zuhair just gets better and better from season to season without leaving their narrow scope of sexy, dramatic, and extreme embellished gowns. The designer sent down the runway a collection inspired by the sea. I could have literally had the soundtrack to The Little Mermaid playing and I would have probably loved it even more. The gowns evoked that glamorous and sexy spirit that the mythical sea creature of legend is supposed to have and I know that we will be seeing a lot of the gowns, jumpsuits, and cocktail dresses from this collection on the red carpet. Kate Beckinsale would shut down whatever red carpet she stepped onto if she would wear this dark teal strapless gown which features a dramatic ruffle down the front, a line skirt, thin belted waist, thigh high split and dramatic train.

I really have loved this season and I cannot wait to see who snatched these gowns, and more, off the runways for the red carpet. I have been posting (and continue to post) wish lists for the collections in my Instagram stories. You can catch all of them on my Instagram profile in highlights called “SS19 Wishes.” Head on over there to check them all out!

2019 Directors Guild of America Awards Red Carpet Wish List

We are in the midst of all the guild awards right now. The Producers Guild Awards took place about a week and a half ago and was won by Green Book, the Screen Actors Guild Awards took place last night and was won by Black Panther. The winner of the Directors Guild of America Award for Best Motion Picture is definitely going to point to who may win at the Oscars at the end of next month. On the red carpet we tend to see more than just the nominated directors. We also usually see some of the members of the casts of nominated films and television shows. So I am interested in seeing what everyone will bring to the red carpet this coming Saturday at the DGA Awards. Irina Shayk hasn’t been the most consistent plus one in awards season history. Though when she has stepped out to support her lover Bradley Cooper she has been very consistent in wearing designs from her good friend Donatella Versace. I don’t know if we would see Irina on the red carpet at the DGA Awards, where Bradley is nominated for both Best Director of a Feature Film and Best First Time Feature Film Director, but I do think we may see her snuck in the side door. I don’t think she wants to take away from any of his spotlight. She definitely would if she stepped onto the red carpet on Bradley’s arm wearing this blue Atelier Versace Fall 2018 Couture column gown which features a corseted bodice, satin straps and waist panels, intricate sequin embellishments, and a thigh high split, and I wouldn’t mind. I have been imagining this gown on Irina for a very long time, but have been waiting for the right red carpet to use it for her. I really do believe that this is just the right night for her to bring this gown to life. A sleek high ponytail, thick defined eyes, soft red lips, a pair of blue Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond chandelier earrings all would make it the perfect plus one moment. Last night was actually the first time that we saw Laura Harrier step out of Louis Vuitton since the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. She wore a custom pink LOEWE gown for the SAG Awards, and I will honestly say that I was underwhelmed. I want to see her shun the brand again on Saturday night if she steps out to support her nominated BlacKkKlansman director Spike Lee. I love this gunmetal grey Paco Rabanne Pre-Fall 2019 chain-link gown which features a v-neckline and short fluid sleeves for Laura. I would remove the chain link sleeveless turtleneck that the gown was paired with in the lookbook, but the gown itself definitely is something I think that would look very chic on Laura. She hasn’t given us much of a 70’s vibe on the red carpet, but I think that this gown pays tribute to the era of the film and Laura would make it an effortless moment especially when paired with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, soft dark rose pink lips, a silver Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Boite Chapeau’ epi leather top handle evening bag, a pair of silver Louis Vuitton ‘Sihouette’ sandals, and statement Amwaj diamond waterfall earrings. Patricia Clarkson didn’t wear her lucky designer, Georges Chakra, last night, and she ended up not winning a SAG Award for her performance in Sharp Objects. I have been LOVING what Patricia has been cooking up with her stylist Victor Blanco since the two started working together last year at the start of the Sharp Objects promo tour. I want to see Patricia bring her biggest designer moment yet to the red carpet this weekend at the Directors Guild of America Awards wearing this black Prada Spring 2019 RTW disc paillette embellished cocktail dress which features long sleeves, a defined waist with gold buttons, and a crew neckline. I have been wondering who could bring this dress to life on the red carpet, and when I was thinking of the perfect dress for Patricia to wear it just clicked. This dress paired with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black and gold Malone Souliers ‘Morissey’ pointed toe d’orsay pumps, and 18k gold Djula ‘Sun’ diamond drop earrings would be a major moment for Patrica to bring to life on this red carpet. Rounding out the list is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel herself Rachel Brosnahan. She did take home the SAG Award last night and I want to continue to see her bring gorgeous moments to the red carpet. I would love to see her give us dramatic ballerina vibes wearing this royal blue Pamella Roland Pre-Fall 2019 teal length tulle gown which features v-neckline with a fitted bodice, an A-line silhouette and tiers of pleated organza. She did wear a tea length custom Dior Couture gown last night, but I have to say I wasn’t impressed. I think that this gown would be a real wow moment on Rachel. She does color really well and I know that she would be able to really carry that dramatic neckline. A cobalt blue Judith Leiber Couture ‘Cherry Cayman’ crocodile box clutch, a sleek updo, defined rimmed eyes, soft red lips, a pair of simple blue Rene Caovilla crystal embellished sandals, and Bulgari ‘Le Magnifiche Creazioni’ diamond and sapphire cluster earrings all would perfectly compliment this very chic and bold moment.

The 2019 Directors Guild of America Awards will take place on February 2, 2019.

2019 GOYA Awards Red Carpet Wish List

From today on forward we are in full steam ahead into the final 5 weeks of awards season. So far the red carpets have been very exciting and that is making me even more excited for things to come. Not all awards season red carpets happen in the US, and not all feature films that we have been talking about up until now. The GOYA Awards are the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars. It brings out the best and brightest of talent in Spanish film. It is always one of the red carpets every year I get really excited to see. We see everything from major couture moments to dramatic looks from Spanish labels. Spanish supermodel Nieves Alvarez is always on this red carpet. She serves moments in some of the most dramatic looks to ever grace this red carpet. She has worn Stephane Rolland Couture on this red carpet several times (including one that made the top of my Best Dressed of the Year list in 2013,) Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda, the first Ralph & Russo Couture runway collection, and Georges Chakra Couture. Most would put their bets on Nieves wearing another Stephane Rolland Couture gown on this red carpet this year, but I have been holding this red Georges Chakra Fall 2018 Couture gown which features a dramatic white asymmetrical ruffled neckline, a single sleeve, black waistband, a crystal embellished column skirt, and a dramatic draped overskirt and train for her to wear on this red carpet since it first came down the runway back in July of last year. She could definitely bring this dramatic regal moment to life on this red carpet and is really the only person I believe could sell this look to me as a Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment. A sleek high bun, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a red Yliana Yepez ‘Gaia’ resin minaudiere, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Concorde’ peep toe d’orsay pumps, and vintage Bulgari diamond and ruby pendant drop earrings would all ensure that this is that absolutely major moment that I come to expect from Nieves.Color me shocked that since the kick off of awards season that we have not seen Chanel ambassador Penelope Cruz wear Chanel on the red carpet yet. She has worn Ralph & Russo Couture and custom Galvan London though. I wonder if she was saving her look because she wasn’t thrilled with the runway options available. While I wasn’t really thrilled with any of the off the runway options from thee Chanel Spring 2019 Couture collection for Penelope I did however love a lot of the embellishments and embroideries. So I took the 3D pink floral embellishments and fabrication from a more matronly look worn on the runway by Kaia Gerber and turned it into this simple column gown. Column gowns are a Chanel staple and Penelope wears them really well. I would imagine that she would be drawn to this very chic and feminine gown to bring to life on this red carpet. Personally I would add glamorous old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a baby pink satin Roger Vivier ‘Triannon’ crystal buckle embellished bow detail clutch, a pair of hot pink, baby pink, and silver Sophia Webster ‘Andie’ color blocked bow detail strappy sandals, and a sleek Chanel High Jewelry diamond collar necklace to really make this the perfect feminine glam moment for Penelope to bring to life on this red carpet.

The 2019 GOYA Awards will take place on Saturday February 2, 2019.

2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 8

I know it has been a hot second since my last set of wishes for the SAG Awards, but I have been holding off because I have been waiting for the announcement of presenters. Apparently the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences has been holding top talent hostage to only present at the Oscars, and so this year there aren’t really any stars who aren’t part of nominated shows or nominated themselves that will be presenting. So basically I held off for nothing. This list is short, but it puts the last two girls out there. Lady Gaga was supposed to be in my first set of wishes, but I held her back because I wanted to snatch a look right off the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week runways for her to wear on the red carpet tomorrow night. I have all kinds of wishes out of the couture shows that I want to see Gaga wearing, but I really wanted to see her wearing this silver Givenchy Spring 2019 Couture cap sleeve gown which features intricate embroidery and beading, and a flared mermaid skirt. The moment I saw this gown I immediately thought of Gaga for the Oscars, but another gown came down another runway after and I fell in love with that for the Oscars and so I thought if anyone could sell this dramatic modern glam moment to me on the red carpet at the SAG Awards it would be Gaga. Though I will say the carpet this year is a silvery grey instead of red, so this gown could easily fade in. I do think however that Gaga has the presence to really make this a major moment no matter the color of the carpet she is walking. A sleek vintage inspired updo, thick defined winged eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of silver Christian Louboutin ‘Very Lace’ peep toe platform pumps, and bold Hueb ‘Luminous’ diamond cluster earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.  Laverne Cox was on hand to help announce the 2019 SAG Awards nominees with Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina so it came as no surprise when the Screen Actors Guild announced that she was going to be one of this years presenters. She love drama, glamour, and sex appeal so I turned to this chic pink Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu Spring 2019 Couture strapless bias draped gown which features a dramatic sweetheart neckline, a mermaid silhouette, and an uber sexy thigh high split. I definitely think that this gown screams Laverne’s style and she would definitely be able to sell it to me on the red carpet. A big updo, smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, a light pink RAFE ‘Stella’ hammer shell tassel detail minaudiere, a pair of light pink satin Stella Luna simple sandals, and Anabela Chan ‘Rose Asscher’ pink and blue sapphire chandelier drop earrings with pear, emerald, princess and round brilliant cut lilac, white and pink diamonds to really make this an absolutely beautiful moment for her to bring to life on the red carpet tomorrow night.

The 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place tomorrow night Sunday January 27, 2019.

2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

Couture fashion week is in full swing now and I am really excited to see what comes down the runways. What will get snatched right off the runways? With all kinds of Pre-Fall looks out there too I have been so incredibly inspired recently. The SAG Awards is one of the more laid back red carpets of awards season. It is almost an everything goes kind of red carpet. I am really excited to see what all of the stars and stylists are busy cooking up right now. Catherine Zeta Jones wore an absolutely beautiful jade green Elie Saab Couture gown on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. She was there as a plus one of her nominated husband Michael Douglas, but was also a presenter. Catherine hasn’t yet been announced as a presenter for this weekend’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, but I would imagine that either way that she will be on the red carpet supporting Michael, who is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series. I was looking for the perfect gown for Catherine to wear as a plus one and when I saw this white Christian Siriano Pre-Fall 2019 side drape tuxedo gown which a plunging neckline, full sleeves, with a lapel, and a floor length with a small train I knew I’d found the perfect one. It is chic and glamorous and I definitely think that Catherine has the regal stature to really make this gown come to life on the red carpet. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, white Tamara Mellon ‘Siren’ PVC detail d’orsay pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz diamond and emerald drop earrings all would allow Catherine to just exude glamour on this red carpet. Irina Shayk was at both the Golden Globe Awards and the National Board of Review Awards to support her nominated baby daddy Bradley Cooper. I was hoping she was going to wow me, but she honestly let me down at both of those events. If she steps out for the SAG Awards with Bradley I want to see Irina make a really chic statement wearing this black fully beaded Dundas Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which features a long sleeve crop top and a high waisted column skirt with a center split. Unlike most designers Peter Dundas showcased his Spring 2019 Couture show while being lauded earlier this month at the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala. It was mixed in with looks out of his Pre-Fall 2019 look book. This ensemble in that lookbook was actually a cocktail dress, but I definitely think that the gown is perfection from head to toe. Irina loves sexy and embellishment which is why I think this is the perfect choice for her to deliver on this red carpet. Add a sleek bob hairstyle, defined eyes, red lips, simple black Aquazzura ‘Purist’ sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond, emerald, and sapphire chandelier earrings and I would absolutely be in love with this moment on Irina. Keri Russell gave us an uber sexy and dazzling moment at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month wearing a sequin draped Monique Lhuillier gown. It was the first time in a really long time that I remember Keri not wearing something black. While she stepped out of that comfort zone for that red carpet I have her back in black for the SAG Awards. She doesn’t have an individual nomination so I would expect it. I love this black Alexander Wang Fall 2019 RTW long sleeve tuxedo coat gown. It is a really chic moment that depending on the wearer could go a few different ways. I think that it would go the modern femme fatale route on Keri. She doesn’t do red lips or intricate updo’s, but I think that a sleek hairstyle, smokey eyes, nude lips, a black Alexander Wang ‘Roxy’ fringe detail mini bucket tote, black patent leather and PVC Aquazzura ‘Magic’ strappy pumps, and a pair of Hueb ‘Spectrum’ diamond and emerald ear jackets would all make this the perfect look for Keri to bring to life on the  SAG Awards red carpet. Lucy Boynton gave me an unexpected moment when she stepped out in a liquid gold sequin custom Celine gown on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month. I wouldn’t have expected Heidi Slimane to pick up a rising star to really be part of his first major red carpet. I would love to see her give us dramatic ballerina inspiration with this white Rodarte Spring 2019 RTW tea length tulle gown which features silver and gold polka dots, an a-line skirt, and hand-beaded Swarovski crystal trim along the straps and unique asymmetric V-neckline. I think that she would give this the chic doll like glamour that this gown needs to be a really major red carpet moment. I love her short whispy bob adding simple defined eyes, pink lips, a white and gold Marzook mini capsule crystal and feather embellished clutch, gold crystal embellished Gianvito Rossi ankle strap sandals, and a pair of DeBeers ‘Vulcan’ white and multicolored, cut and rough drop earrings would all ensure this look is chic elegance on this red carpet. I finally saw Beautiful Boy this weekend and honestly I think Timothee Chalamet should be the winner of this years Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role trophy at the SAG Awards this weekend. I thought his portrayal of Nic Sheff, a spiraling teenage drug addict, was moving and emotional. I felt like I was really able to connect with his performance even never having struggled with addiction in the past myself. Timothee is always one I get excited to see on the red carpet and I am really interested in seeing what he will bring this weekend at the SAG Awards. He definitely is the dude on the red carpet that will take the most risks. He has brought bold patterns from Alexander McQueen and sequined harnesses from Louis Vuitton so far this awards season. I wanted to see something really statement making on the red carpet and I was searching the hot off the runway looks from the Paris and Milan’s Fall 2019 Menswear shows, but I didn’t find anything. Instead I’ve opted for something a little more classic with this silver and black sparkly tween notch lapel blazer from the Saint Laurent Spring 2019 Menswear collection which I would want to see her paired with a silver glitter crew neck top and high waisted black pants that came down the runway right after this look. It has a bright sparkly twist on classic menswear dressing and I definitely think that Timothee would be able to sell this more laid back moment to me on this red carpet. I would finish the look with black Saint Laurent ‘Wyatt’ silver western buckle harness detail boots.I literally woke up yesterday morning and the first thing I did was look at the Schiaparelli Spring 2019 Couture collection. It started my day in a really great way and I am super excited to see it on the red carpet. I was hunting for the perfect look for Yara Shahidi, who will be one of this years SAG Ambassadors giving insight into what it’s like to be at the awards via the SAG social media. She rocked the red carpet last year giving major drama via a tuxedo inspired Ralph Lauren jumpsuit with a big bow and dramatic train last year. I was totally not expecting that from her. She is a style chameleon and can literally do just about anything. I went for more of flirty, feminine moment for Yara to bring to life this year with this chic grey Schiaparelli Spring 2019 Couture tea length gown which features a fully sequined overlay, cami style bodice with a v-neck, a yellow bow detail on the bodice (which I could honestly be okay with being removed,) and a full a-line skirt. It is that very feminine moment that I really do believe that Yara would be able to sell to me on the red carpet. I found a pair of grey Sophia Webster ‘Arlo’ crystal buckle sandals that perfectly matches this gown. I would add a chic tight curl afro hairstyle, smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, and a selection of Anita Ko diamonds including a pair of ‘Snowflake’ cluster earrings, a ‘Medium Leaf’ ring, and a ‘Calla Lily Coil’ ring to really make this the perfect moment for Yara to wear on this red carpet.

The 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place on Sunday January 27, 2019.
