“Captain Marvel” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

I have been so excited for the Captain Marvel promo tour since Brie Larson was first announced as the title character at San Diego Comic-Con in 2016. The time is finally here and I am so super excited to see what Brie, and everyone in the cast, is going to bring to the red carpet. They have been owning looks at some of the smaller press events during the promo tour so far this year and I cannot wait to see what they are planning for the big premieres. As a female superhero there is a lot of pressure on Brie Larson to deliver on the red carpet. Trying to balance being a superhero with her ultra feminine style could be difficult and I want to see her own that balance. I went for armor like style with the Chanel Couture gown for her to wear for the films premiere in London. For the LA premiere if Captain Marvel I decided to go with more of a superhero inspired moment with this metallic nude asymmetric tulle Ralph & Russo Spring 2019 Couture column gown which features matte gold and silver sequins in a leopard print design and a white light crepe cady off the shoulder cape. I didn’t want to do something in a bright bold color like royal blue or lipstick red with a cape for this film because it would come across as a bit too comical or expected for a movie like this. I want to give a more ethereal take of superhero glamour and I think that this gown does just that. Now I might want to see Brie’s stylist Samantha McMillan ask the house of Ralph & Russo to customize the look so that the cape may have more of a dramatic train that it does on the runway to add just a little more drama to the look. I believe that Brie would definitely own this moment on the red carpet. Add a sleek updo, defined eyes, blush pink lips, a pair of gold Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ crystal studded PVC strap sandals, and some absolutely beautiful vintage floral gold set Van Cleef & Arpels diamond and sapphire ear clips picked up from Fred Leighton (who has one of the most amazing vintage jewelry archives ever) and I know that this is would be an absolutely amazing moment for Brie to deliver on this red carpet. Gemma Chan has been killing the fashion game for a while and I am really excited to see what she is going to bring to the table at the big premieres of Captain Marvel. I went the complete opposite of what I picked for Brie for Gemma. I love this electric blue liquid sequin Armani Prive Spring 2019 RTW ankle length gown which features structured sheer paillette embellished cap sleeve a dramatic plunging neckline. This sexy and glam gown is definitely something I think that Gemma could pull off with ease. It is more of an edgy look than we typically see from her as she loves an ultra feminine look on the red carpet, but it was honestly the first thing I thought of for her to wear during this tour. It is a major bold moment and I think that with a chic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a metallic blue Judith Leiber Couture ‘Cayman Coffered’ crocodile leather box clutch, a pair of metallic blue Alexandre Birman ‘Willow’ sandals, and David Morris diamond, ruby spinel, and opal wreath earrings all would tie this look together in a major high fashion way.

The LA premiere of Captain Marvel will take place on Monday March 4, 2019.

“Captain Marvel” London Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

It is Oscar day and I am super excited about everything that could come down that iconic red carpet into the Dolby Theater tonight, but I am starting to move on to events that are going to come in the days and weeks following tonight’s major red carpets. The first major red carpet following the Oscars will the the London premiere of the much anticipated Captain Marvel. We have seen the cast here and there in recent days promoting the film but this is definitely the biggest red carpet the film has had yet and I am so excited to see what the cast is prepping for this red carpet. Brie Larson is in the title role in this film and I am already super excited about what she has worn. I love Brie and she has this major shift of style that covers everything from ethereal and flirty to structured and sexy. In the last month alone she has worn hot pink ruffled tulle Rodarte and a waxed silk Oscar de la Renta jumpsuit and that really is the definition of Brie’s style. I wanted to keep a good balance of strong style and feminine elegance when I was picking the perfect looks for her to wear for the two main premieres for the movie. As I was looking I saw this ivory Chanel Spring 2019 Couture halter neck floral pattern tea length gown which features side cutouts, gold banding, a peplum waist, and a column silhouette and it seemed to check all of those boxes of mixing strong and soft in addition to being a beautiful tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld. Brie has rocked a few column silhouette tea length gowns in the past and I typically love her in those styles and I believe that she would own this gown on this red carpet. I think that a sleek side parted low bun, gold lined defined eyes, soft pink lips, gold lined eyes, a pair of gold Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Maeva Pearl S’ sandals, and a selection of David Morris ‘Out Petite Palm’ collection rose gold set pink rubellite and diamond drop earrings and cocktail ring would all ensure that this is that perfect meshing of strong silhouette and feminine styling.  Gemma Chan has been killing the fashion game so far this tour. I knew she would. I love her bold style which meshes eccentricity, bohemia, femininity, and glamour and I am really excited to see what she and stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray are pulling for this tour. I decided to go with more of a Studio 54, disco glam moment for Gemma to wear on the red carpet at the London premier of Captain Marvel with this red, pink, and eggplant purple geometric pattern Halpern Fall 2019 RTW liquid sequin draped halter gown. Gemma is a huge supporter of British designers and while she has never worn a Halpern design on the red carpet before when I saw this gown I imagined how chic and effortless she would look wearing this creation on the red carpet. The faux amethyst rock crystal collar on the neck is actually a necklace and not attached to the dress and I am going back and forth on whether I want to see Gemma wearing it with this look on the red carpet or not. I do know however that if she wears it or not I want to see Gemma style this gown with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, and a pair of lollipop red Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ gemstone studded PVC strap sandals to ensure that this look gives effortless glam vibes from head to toe.

The London premiere of Captain Marvel will take place on Wednesday February 27, 2019.

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 8

My final set of wishes for the 2019 Academy Awards is actually a round up. I fell behind on doing my individual wish lists, but I wanted to put out as many wishes as I could for tomorrow nights red carpet. So while there are still many more stars who are confirmed to attend the Oscars tomorrow night than what I have covered I have these final wishes. I put all of the stars who I haven’t written wishes about in a folder and went on a search for the perfect look for them to wear on the red carpet tomorrow night. Below are the stars who I was able to pick something for without too much of a search. Some of these wishes I really want to see come true. Who is you favorite?

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

The Oscars are tomorrow night and I am getting super duper excited about what all of the nominees, presenters, performers, and guests will wear on the red carpet. I’m not going to be able to make wishes for everyone but I have a couple more before I’m done. I knew that sinceĀ Captain MarvelĀ andĀ Avengers: EndgameĀ are gearing up to make for a HUGE commercial success year for Brie Larson that we were going to see her on the red carpet at the Oscars as one of the nights many presenters. She kicked off the tour for Captain Marvel deliver sexy structured tough girl glam in a custom Oscar de la Renta jumpsuit and I LOVED it, but to for tomorrow nights Oscars red carpet I decided to go down more of the softer more feminine side of Brie’s style. I saw this silver Rodarte Fall 2019 RTW crystal embroidered Chantilly lace one shoulder gown which features an A-line silhouette and a cascading chiffon bow at the shoulder and immediately put it on reserve in my mind for Brie to wear on the Oscars red carpet. I am going back and forth on the color. I almost would love to see Brie wear a custom black version of this gown. What do you think? Silver or Black? Either way I would style the look the same with a sleek low bun, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi plexi PVC and metallic leather strappy sandals, and simple Chopard diamond drop earrings. I always love seeing Helen Mirren on the red carpet and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet tomorrow night at the Oscars. She knows how to still have fun with fashion and glamour and sex appeal on the red carpet. I decided to go for a bigger silhouette than we have seen from her wear on the red carpet in a while with this silver beaded nude tulle Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture off the shoulder long sleeve ball gown. I was looking for the perfect gown for her to wear on this red carpet and despite it being a little more revealing than what we are used to seeing from Helen on the red carpet I thought it was a perfect look for her to wear on the Oscars red carpet. I thought that Zuhair could easily add a modesty yoke to the neckline of this gown or even better customize the neckline to sit higher on Helen’s chest than it does on the model, all to protect Helen’s modesty. I think that her platinum silver hair in a chic updo, defined eyes, soft rose pink lips, silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ pointed toe PVC paneled leather pumps, and chic Niwika ‘Hanayuki’ diamond floral chandelier earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Helen. I will honestly say I am still trying to figure out why Kacey Musgraves was announced as a presenter for the Oscars. It just don’t make any sense to me. I don’t know what her connection to the Oscars, or film in general are. I guess I will find out as I watch the red carpet tomorrow night. Despite not knowing why I still want to see Kacey deliver a really chic moment on this red carpet. Being a music star on a Hollywood red carpet can be a little tricky, but if her previous Grammy Awards looks say anything I don’t think that Kacey will have any trouble fitting right in. I wanted to have some fun with a look for Kacey and when I saw this black Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture ball gown which features a strapless velvet bustier, a pink organza ruffle and paillette flower embroidery on the waist, and a dramatic ostrich feather skirt I fell in love with the idea. Now while I fell in love with it I was a little apprehensive because it is a little more out there of a choice to wear on the Oscars red carpet, but I think that Kacey can make it work. I would keep the styling relatively simple since the dress itself is such a statement all on its own adding a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black lace Christian Louboutin ‘Follies Lace’ pointed toe pumps, and Hueb ‘Luminous’ diamond and black quartz drop earrings.Sarah Paulson gave us a small accidental tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld on the day of his death wearing a vintage Chanel look from one of his early collections for the house on the red carpet at the Costume Designer’s Guild Awards. I saw that and it made me want to look back at some of the late 90’s Chanel Couture collections that just got added to Vogue Runway to see if I could find a perfect look for Sarah to wear on the red carpet at the Oscars tomorrow night to continue to pay tribute to a true genius who has left us. I found this teal tea length gown which feature a strapless sequined peplum bustier and a silk column skirt from the Chanel Fall 1999 Couture collection and it was an easy choice for me to make. This is a gown that I feel only Sarah could pull out of the archive and make me fall in love with. I don’t know if the House of Chanel would open the archive for one last time for this red carpet or if it will be very restrictive. I would bet it will be the latter, but I still think this is a perfect look for Sarah to wear tomorrow night especially if paired with a vintage black and silver crystal embellished Chanel minaudiere, a pair of black Brian Atwood ‘Vicky’ ankle strap slingback pumps, a sleek side parted bob, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, and chic Irene Neuwirth south sea pearl and diamond pave ribbon drop earrings. Finally we have Tina Fey. When it comes to her history of Oscar gowns Tina usually delivers some of her chicest moments on this red carpet. For tomorrow nights red carpet I decided to go within Tina’s favored black box with this Schiaparelli Fall 2018 Couture strapless velvet a-line gown which features an asymmetrical silver beaded bodice. This is another gown that I am still shocked made it through all of film festival and awards seasons without being worn. It is a classically glamorous gown and I definitely think that it would work perfectly for Tina on this red carpet. A chic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black velvet Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ clutch, a pair of black crystal embellished mesh Gianvito Rossi ankle strap sandals, and vintage Fred Leighton art deco diamond drop earrings would all ensure that this is another absolutely glamorous moment for Tina to wear on this red carpet.

The 2019 Academy Awards will take place tomorrow night Sunday February 24, 2019.

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

I apologize to all my regular readers that I haven’t covered the Oscars red carpet with wishes like I normally do. I thought I would have time do do more, but as I am literally transitioning jobs this weekend I got behind and so I just have 3 more sets of wishes for tomorrow nights red carpet to get through today. So since I do I’m going to get right on into the good stuff. Coming off the news of the passing of Karl Lagerfeld earlier this week one of my immediate thoughts was that the archive was going to be locked up immediately, but with the Oscars this weekend I would be that we might see a few fashion tributes to the late Kaiser of fashion on the red carpet. After a post from the celebrity PR director for Ralph & Russo meeting Karla Welch to drop off gowns it has sparked rumors that Amandla Stenberg will be wearing the British couture house. I instead decided that I wanted to see Amandla pay tribute to Karl wearing Chanel Couture. Back when Amandla was first getting her red carpet footing Chanel embraced her and so I thought it would be really nice to see her rock one of Karl’s last couture creations with this black Chanel Spring 2019 Couture halter neck tea length gown which features intricate gold floral beaded embellishments, a bubble hem, and draped construction for her very first Oscars red carpet. I wouldn’t typically say a tea length gown is Oscars red carpet appropriate, but Amandla has the cool girl ease to really make this a mahjour moment on the red carpet especially if it was styled with a tight fingerwave updo, smokey eyes, burgundy lips, black satin Roger Vivier ‘Viv’ platform sandals, and a pair of antique Victorian yellow gold set black onyx and diamond drop earrings from Beladora. Danai Gurira is confirmed to be one of the many presenters on the red carpet at the Oscars tomorrow night. Last year Danai was just a guest on this red carpet so this will be her first time to the awards in an official matter. I honestly had no idea what I wanted to see her wearing heading into this week. That is until I saw this gold sequined Burberry Fall 2019 RTW long sleeve pencil dress which features draped rosette details on the bodice. The moment I saw this dress I thought of Danai and then I thought of it as a gown and I knew it had to be my wish for her to wear on tomorrow nights red carpet. I have been surprised that we haven’t seen much of Burberry on the red carpet since Riccardo Tisci took over the reigns at he house and I am really hoping that he has a custom look or two up his sleeve for the biggest night in Hollywood. I wanted to see if my photo editor could lengthen the dress to give you all more of an idea about what I am thinking about, but it wasn’t able to happen. I am going back and forth about this being a floor length column gown with a slit at the back and no train or it it will be a column gown with a short train following behind. I am leaning more towards no train for Danai since she isn’t nominated and just presenting. Add a sleek bun of braids, smokey eyes, dark blood red lips, a gold glitter acrylic Edie Parker ‘Wolf’ clutch, metallic gold leather and crystal embellished Christian Louboutin ‘Follies Strass’ pointed toe pumps, and simple $68,000 David Webb ‘Snowflake’ ear clips made up of cabochon emeralds, brilliant-cut diamonds, hammered 18K gold, and platinum and I believe that Danai would definitely have an absolutely major fashion moment on her hands. Emma Stone is the last nominee I have a wish for. She has had a relatively lackluster awards season this year. She skipped many red carpets and when she was on the red carpets her Louis Vuitton ensembles just made me want to snooze. I would love to see Emma deliver a really glamorous moment tomorrow night. I thought I had her custom Louis Vuitton gown designed, but then I went searching the brands website one last time and I found some silver crystal embellishments that made their ways onto some jackets and tops that I was really drawn to, so I sent them off to my editor. I wanted a shape similar to the Valentino gown that Emma wore for the 2017 Golden Globe Awards, but done in a black chiffon embellished with those silver crystals all over and what she sent back to me is exactly what I want to see from Emma on tomorrow’s red carpet. You can’t tell via this edit, but I want the gown to have more of a flowing chiffon-y skirt than we are typically used to seeing from Louis Vuitton gowns on the red carpet, but I think that is exactly what Emma needs to really have a major moment on the red carpet in the brand. I get distinct 30’s vibes from the gown so I wanted to go very ultra old Hollywood glam with a dark silver/black/and emerald smokey eyes, red lips, a sleek vintage inspired updo, black Louis Vuitton ‘Black Bird’ crystal monogram chain strap platform sandals, and a pair of vintage Cartier diamond and emerald pendant drop earrings to make sure that this look just oozed head to toe glamour. Krysten Ritter will attend her first Oscars tomorrow night. She has always been one of my more underrated favorites and one that I am a little worried about for tomorrow’s red carpet. She used to work with Ilaria Urbinati, but it seemed about the start of fall that Ilaria let all of her female clients go to focus on her male clients. So the last look that Krysten had on a red carpet was styled by Ilaria and I have no idea who will be dressing her for the Oscars tomorrow. I personally think I would end up picking this 40’s glam black and pink Marchesa Pre-Fall 2019 strapless ballgown which features a sculptural draped velvet bodice with a soft, A-line duchess satin skirt for Krysten to rock for her first Oscars. It is that glamorous princess moment that I know she hasn’t had in a while and that most actresses dream of having on the Oscars red carpet. I definitely want to see a Marchesa gown on the red carpet tomorrow night and I think that Krysten would definitely be able to sell this one to me. Add a sleek low bun updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a pair of ballet pink glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ strappy cage sandals, and simple white and pink diamond Chopard teardrop earrings to make sure that Krysten oozes glamour on her first Oscars red carpet. The moment Tessa Thompson was announced as a presenter for tomorrow night’s Oscars ceremony I knew I wanted to see her wearing a Chanel Couture gown, but when Karl died on Tuesday I went back and forth about whether she would. She isn’t the biggest friend to the house, but she was seated front row at the brands Spring 2019 Couture show back in January. So I decided that I would keep that mentality since I feel like something has been in the works for quite some time. Now I picked a really simple black one shoulder column with intricate silver beaded trim from the Chanel Fall 2018 Couture collection since Tessa has more of an edgy and sleek approach to glam and the Spring 2019 Couture show was more flirty and feminine. I personally have loved this simple black Chanel Couture gown since it first came down the runway last July and I am honestly that we have gotten all the way up to the night before the Oscars and this gown hasn’t been worn yet. I will be really surprised if we don’t see this gown on one of tomorrow night’s red carpets and I definitely think that Tessa has the right kind of glam to really make it work on the red carpet at the Oscars. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a black Chanel crystal buckle detail box clutch, black sequined Aquazzura ‘Studio’ strappy sandals, and modern Harry Winston ‘Cluster’ collection diamond drop earrings all would add the perfect finishing touches to another chic Karl Lagerfeld tribute moment.

The 2019 Academy Awards will take place tomorrow night Sunday February 24, 2019.

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

Guess what? I’ve once again hit the middle of my wishes for a big red carpet and am behind again. I am transitioning two jobs, trying to balance relationships, and cover as much of the Oscars (and the events surounding it all at the same time this week and I am starting to wonder if I will be able to cover this red carpet like I traditionally like to. So instead of a long worded intro past what I’ve already written I am just going to dive right in on my wishes. I had super high expectations for Angela Bassett this awards season and she has consistently let me down. She will be one of the many presenters on Sunday night at this years Oscars and I am hoping she will WOW me with a sexy and glamorous moment on this red carpet. I went back to the same designer, and collection, that Angela wore for the SAG Awards. She picked a gown that really wore her for that red carpet which is surprising since there are so many options that really screamed her style. So for Sunday nights red carpet I decided to go with a much simpler style with this black Georges Chakra Fall 2018 Couture gown which features a criss-cross halter, chiffon sashes, an a-line skirt, intricate silver embellishments, a thigh high split, and a dramatic train. It screams that sexier side of simplicity which I think is something that Angela is typically drawn to. I might for some think that the mantra must be “Go Big or Go Home” but I think that Angela should dial the details back for a major moment on this red carpet. Her voluminous curls center parted and tied back low with smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Mechante Reine’ spike embellished PVC pointed toe pumps with a scarf tie ankle, and dramatic Butani diamond wreath earrings would all make sure that Angela definitely delivers sexy glamour on this red carpet. I have a feeling that eyes will definitely be on Irina Shayk this weekend at the Oscars. With the news that broke earlier this week about Lady Gaga and her fiance Christian Carino splitting there is a rumor that Gaga and Bradley Cooper are secretly an item. So it will be interesting to see if Irina is at the Oscars and what her facial reactions to Bradley and Gaga are. I think that Bradley and Irina are on solid footing and I think that will be displayed on Sunday on the red carpet at the Oscars. I have a feeling that Irina will end awards season in the same way that she started it, wearing Atelier Versace. I decided I wanted sparkling sex appeal from her on this red carpet so I created this gunmetal silver custom Atelier Versace column gown which features a dramatic sweetheart neckline, a corseted bodice, all over sequin details, a side split, and a sweeping train. For the most part Irina has kept her red carpet looks pretty simple this awards and this could be nice break from that adding a little more flare to her plus one style especially if she paired this gown with a sleek high bun updo, smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of gunmetal silver Prada strappy sandals, and a statement vintage Bulgari diamond collar necklace. Jennifer Hudson will be performing the Oscar nominated song “I’ll Fight” from the documentary RBG on the Oscars stage on Sunday night and I am very intrigued to see what the former Oscar winner will wear on the red carpet. It has been a while since she has worn anything that I have gotten even remotely excited about and I want to see her really wow me on the red carpet this weekend. I decided to go for the old Hollywood glam for the red carpet with this white draped crepe Paolo Sebastian Spring 2019 couture halter gown which features a halter neckline, sash trains, and center split because if you can’t serve classic glamour on this red carpet then when can you? I would swap the Veronica Lake waves that the gown was styled with in the lookbook for a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of silver Christian Louboutin ‘Twistissima Strass’ criss-cross strap crystal embellished mesh pointed toe pumps, and vintage Neil Lane diamond and pearl crown drop earrings to really make it a perfectly moment. For the performance I wanted to do a suit, but still have something dazzling and dramatic so I thought this silver sequined Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture suit which features a peplum jacket with a plunging neckline and belted waist and a pair of asymmetrical slashed pants would fit the bill perfectly. I think that the notorious RBG herself would definitely sign off on this look. it is strong, sharp, and sexy. I would have Jennifer let her hair down into chic waves, keeping the same hair and makeup from the red carpet, adding a pair of silver Christian Louboutin ‘Wonder’ iridescent star studded pointed to pumps, and Neil Lane diamond leaf drop earrings to ensure that this is a perfect look for Jennifer to grace the Oscars stage in. Lebanese director and actress Nadine Labaki won the jury prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival with her film Capernaum and did so looking ever so elegant in Lebanese designer Elie Saab. I am really excited to see what the very glamorous woman will bring to the red carpet at the Oscars this weekend where the film is nominated for Best Forgien Language Film. She has worn Elie Saab all awards season and so it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see her wearing another look from the Lebanese designer on the Oscars red carpet. I went back to this incredibly glamorous with this black, white, and gold Elie Saab Spring 2018 Couture art deco gown which features a boat neckline, long sleeves, and an a-line skirt that I first included in my wish list for Nadine to wear for the Toronto Film Festival as the perfect look for her to wear on the Oscars red carpet. I would bet that Nadine will undoubtedly be wearing another Elie Saab design on this red carpet and this incredibly glamorous moment is perfect. Back when I put this on the wish list for the Toronto Film Festival I said “as I am writing this with the likelihood that she will receive an Oscar nomination I wonder if I should be saving it. But I am someone who doesn’t believe that anyone should save anything for one occasion or another, if you like it wear it.” And Nadine did not wear the gown for that red carpet so I wanted to make sure that I brought the wish back around for this red carpet because I have been imagining it on her ever since. I am changing the styling a little adding a black beaded Elie Saab box clutch, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Shiva’ mesh paneled pointed toe pumps, and Chopard red carpet collection yellow diamond chandelier earrings to a sleek updo, smokey eyes, and red lips to really make sure this look glamor defined. Olivia Colman might have won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for her role in The Favourite, but I’m not sure it will edge out Glenn Close’s performance in The Wife to take home the Best Actress statue at the Oscars this weekend. Now with that being said I still want to see Olivia wear something amazing. She only attended those two big awards events despite nominations at some of the others. She has really only worn black and white for this awards seasons red carpets. I decided to to push that boundary too much picking this white, black, and tan Givenchy Fall 2018 Couture boat neck draped gown which features color blocked panels, long sleeves, and a belted waist. Olivia has only worn British designers on the red carpet, so I decided I was going to take a piece out of the Duchess of Sussex’s playbook and pick this French couture house that is designed by a British creative director for Olivia to wear on this red carpet. I would swap the silver metal belt that the gown was styled with on the runway in favor of a black crepe ribbon waistband for Olivia just because I think that is more in tune with her sense of style adding a black Roger Vivier gold fringe detail buckle clutch, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Deneuve’ bow detail pointed toe pumps, a chic pixie, smokey eyes, red lips, and a pair of David Morris diamond and pearl tassel earrings.

The 2019 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday February 24, 2019.

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

Oscars. That is all I have to say. The word itself brings to mind thoughts of drama and glamour. I think about all the major moments from the likes of Cate Blanchett, Keira Knightley, Penelope Cruz, and Reese Witherspoon worn on this red carpet over the years. I am super excited for this years red carpet and with every day it seems like it gets more and more glamorous with each new announcement of presenters and performers. I have a feeling I’m not going to miss a host this year. Amy Poehler has a lot to make up for on the red carpet at the Oscars after the Andrew Gn disaster that she wore for the 2016 Oscars. I have never been the biggest fan of Amy’s style, but I want to see her give something chic and elegant on this red carpet on Sunday. Amy has always had pretty good results when she has worn Stella McCartney on the red carpet so I turned back to the label for a chic moment for her to wear on the Oscars red carpet. I found this white Stella McCartney ‘Jade’ scoop neck silk chiffon gown which feature all-over flat-pressed pleats, detachable stone and bead embellished belt at waistband, and a straight skirt and it was something I thought that Amy could wear with glamorous ease. On some I think it could read a little bridal, but I think that it would just be an ethereal moment on Amy. A romantic updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, white Chloe Gosselin embellished ankle strap pumps, and pair of Kallati diamond floral drop earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to this look. It took white a bit of work to pick the perfect look for Glenn Close to wear for this weekends Academy Awards. I had to have the perfect ‘winners look’ for her since I honestly believe that she will finally take home a little gold man this weekend. I finally saw her performance in The Wife the other night and when I saw her heartbreaking-ly beautiful performance in a film that really rested solely on the acting I was BLOWN AWAY. I went through the gambit of designers and style for Glenn. I originally thought I was going to pick some sort of a Zac Posen gown for Glenn because the two are such good friends and she has yet to wear one of his designs this awards season thus far, but I wasn’t able to really find anything out of a lookbook or off the virtual racks that I loved individually or any details I thought would make for a stellar custom Zac Posen gown. So I started to look elsewhere. I ultimately came to the decision to create a custom Alexander McQueen. I mentioned the back and forth with my photo editor about my custom Chloe gown I picked for Rachel Weisz it took 29 photos from inspirations to all the different stars to the edit to create this custom cream crepe long sleeve column gown which features intricate gold beaded embroidery, strong shoulders, and a square neck. When Evita sent me this version of the dress I said “Done. That’s it.” I knew right away. In the history of Best Actress winners many have won wearing some sort of gold gown and I was set on that idea and I definitely think that it would be the perfect accessory for this gown. I would style this intricate gown with Glenn’s signature whispy pixie, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a gold Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ crystal clasp clutch, a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Travis’ strappy metallic leather pointed toe ankle strap pumps, and vintage Van Cleef & Arpels 18k gold and platinum set diamond wreath ear clips to ensure that this is an absolutely perfect moment for Glenn to finally win a well deserved Oscar.Maya Rudolph is another of the stars who I don’t typically get all that excited over when it comes to their red carpet style. She did give an attempt at the Golden Globe Awards last month when she wore a fresh off the runway black ruffled Valentino Pre-Fall 2019 long sleeve gown. I think had she had better hair and makeup I might have actually loved it on her. I want to see her really deliver something amazing when she steps onto the Oscars red carpet this weekend where she will be one of the nights many presenters. I saw this one shoulder royal blue Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture draped gown and I thought it would be chic on Maya. She has more of a conservative style so I would imagine that her stylist would have this gown turned from the high low asymmetrical hemline it has on the runway and have a fully covered column style skirt with the chic train. I think that this simple style and the bold color is exactly what would create a perfect moment for Maya especially if paired with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of matching royal blue satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Nadira’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and chic IVY New York blue sapphire and diamond drop earrings.Heading into awards season Melissa McCarthy was one of the front runners for an Oscar nomination and she succeeded in getting her first leading actress nomination for her performance in Can You Ever Forgive Me? This is the third time that Melissa has walked the Oscars red carpet and since I really didn’t like her other two red carpet moments I am praying that the third times the charm. I have actually been quite intrigued with most of the looks that Melissa has worn on the red carpet this year. She shares a stylist with Glenn Close and I am sure that Chloe is working overtime right now to make sure that both her ladies have amazing moments. I have been picturing Melissa wearing this pewter Tadashi Shoji Fall 2019 RTW tiered ballgown which features a portrait neckline and pleated construction since it first came down the runway. I saw it and immediately knew I had found the perfect Oscar gown for Melissa. Tadashi knows to to deliver big glamorous gown for plus size women and I can just imagine how amazing this gown would be on Melissa. It is different than anything else we have seen her wear on the red carpet ever and I definitely think that it could be a major best dressed moment for Melissa. Add old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, defined eyes, dark dusty rose pink lips, a pair of light gray Stuart Weitzman ‘Lalaina’ crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, and a statement Amwaj diamond necklace and that Melissa would definitely be a real Best Dressed list contender. Stephan James has emerged as one of the standout men of awards season this year and I want to see him deliver a real moment on the red carpet. He stars alongside Regina King and Kiki Layne in If Beale Street Could Talk. He will be presenting this weekend at his first Oscars and if I know the Oscars as well as I think I do he will most likely join Kiki on stage to present a clip package from their Best Picture nominated film. Now I didn’t intentionally pick a lilac tuxedo to match the lilac Ralph & Russo Couture gown I picked for Kiki, in fact I didn’t put the two together until I started writing this post. I fell in love with this lilac and periwinkle BOSS Fall 2019 RTW tuxedo as soon as I saw the photos from the brands show during New York Fashion Week and started thinking about who I wanted to see wearing it on the red carpet at the Oscars to add a little flavor to what will no doubt be a sea of black and white tuxedos. When I saw that Stephan was going to be one of the presenters I knew it was the perfect fit. A white tuxedo shirt, black bow tie, and a pair of grey Christian Louboutin ‘Dandelion’ crystal strass embellished Venetian loafers all would ensure that this look is Oscars red carpet ready.

The 2019 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday February 24, 2019.

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

I am just getting started with my wishes for this years Oscars red carpet. I am doing things a little differently than I normally do. I typically do a post for the Best Actress nominees, Best Supporting Actress nominees, other nominees, performers, and presenters separately. Today’s set of wishes has looks for presenters, nominees, and a performer and I am super excited about all of them.I was hoping that Kiki Layne would be on the Oscar stage as a presenter and not just there as a guest of her nominated film If Beale Street Could Talk and that wish came true. I have been obsessed with Kiki since she first burst onto the scene wearing a Gucci midi gown on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of the film. I am almost expecting that Kiki will wear something custom designed for her from Gucci, BUT I decided to go back to the same designer that Kiki wore for the Academy Governors Awards back in November of last year: Ralph & Russo. The moment I saw this lavender Ralph & Russo Spring 2019 Couture asymmetric lamĆ© off the shoulder ball gown which features a voluminous peplum skirt with a high low bubble hem and a ruffled neckline I knew it would be a perfect Oscar gown and when Kiki was announced as a presenter I knew it was perfect for her. Kiki has this dramatic and glamorous style and I believe that she would own it with effortless ease. A chic bun of braids, smokey eyes, dark glossy red lips, a pair of lavender satin Paula Cademartori ‘Iris Opulence’ crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, and vintage Bulgari jewels including asymmetrical diamond and amethyst drop earrings and a statement diamond, blue sapphire, and pink sapphire cuff bracelet all would make this an absolutely amazing moment for Kiki to wear on the red carpet at her first Oscars. Laura Dern is on the Academy’s Board of Governors for the actors branch of the organization so it came as no surprise that she was announced as a presenter for this years ceremony. As I started to think about the perfect gown for Laura to wear on this red carpet my mind kept going to this two tone red Valentino Fall 2019 Couture sleeveless gown which features a trumpet silhouette intricate beading and velvet pleats. I have been in love with this gown since it first came down the runway last July and I am honestly shocked that it hasn’t been worn yet. I definitely think that Laura has the statuesque glamour to really make this gown come to life on the red carpet. Add a red marbled plexi Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ clutch, a loose low chignon updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Versailles’ peep toe d’orsay pumps, and vintage 1920’s Cartier diamond chandelier earrings and I know this moment is going to be one of my favorites of the night. I had to search high and low for the perfect “winner’s gown’ for Regina King to wear on the red carpet at the Oscars on Sunday night. She is expected to take home the Best Supporting Actress trophy and I wanted to make sure she has a fashion moment to wow while doing so. I had edited a custom Prada gown for Regina to wear on this red carpet originally, but when I saw her perched front row at the Michael Kors Fall 2019 RTW collection I started to second guess my custom edit. I decided to go with a custom gown inspired by a gold and black sequin and feather embellished long sleeve cocktail dress that came down that very runway. I created this sleeveless gown which features a plunging neckline, belted waist, sequined bodice, and a fully feathered skirt and train in my head and my photo editor brought my vision to life. As soon as I saw it I fell in love and I believe Regina would too. Pair the gown with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark red lips, a black Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ crocodile stamped satin clutch, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Lancer’ caged pointed toe pumps, and Chopard jewels including rubellite and diamond drop earrings and and intricate gold set rubellite cocktail ring to ensure this look screams Oscar winner from head to toe. I’m not going to lie after SZA skipped the Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and Grammy Awards I wasn’t planning to feature her in my Oscar wishes despite the fact that she is nominated for Best Original Song for “All The Stars” from Black Panther. Though when it was confirmed that she and Kendrick Lamar would perform I decided to add her to this list. She hasn’t been one of the big fashion stars to emerge over the last year or so, but I am hoping that she will rise to the occasion of being an Oscar nominee. I thought about doing a gown for SZA to wear on this red carpet, but when I saw this black Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 Couture strapless tuxedo inspired jumpsuit which features a dramatic chiffon train I thought it fit her more laid back style. It isn’t very often I think that pants over a gown is a good option for the Oscars red carpet, but I definitely think that this look on SZA would be really good. She loves her big curls so I would keep that going with smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of black lace Christian Louboutin ‘Jose Altafine’ platform lace up ankle cuff pumps, a pair of Nikos Koulis ‘Lingerie’ collection hoop earrings with white diamonds and silver pearls and a matching cuff bracelet. For her performance during the telecast I have decided to go with something sexy yet chic with this black Burberry Pre-Fall 2019 ensemble which features a black sequined lingerie inspired bustier with sheer panels and a pair of wide fit draped pants. I think that this is definitely something right up SZA’s ally and I think that for a performance it just works especially if she pairs it with a pair of black Stella McCartney ‘Elyse’ platform shoes, those full curls, smokey eyes, red lips, and all kinds of Nikos Koulis ‘Oui’ collection jewels including diamond and black enamel fringe hoop earrings, a kissing trillion cut diamond and black enamel ring, a three emerald cut diamond and black enamel ring, and a diamond and black enamel snake ring. She could even add a custom cut tuxedo jacket to the look following the performance to finish taking in the rest of the Oscars telecast. I was so excited to see what Yalitza Aparicio was going to bring to the red carpet as she started her journey this awards season. I have been pretty disappointed though. I hope that the red carpet at her very first Oscars is going to see that she brings something absolutely beautiful. I won’t lie to you when I created this custom navy Prada cloquĆ© floral jacquard strapless gown which features a defined waist, and a flowing satin train was actually the gown I originally designed for Regina to wear on this red carpet. But when I created the custom Michael Kors gown I knew I didn’t want this gown to go to waste. Yalitza has been dressed by the Prada sister brand Miu Miu twice this awards season and I would bet that she will end awards season in a design from one or the other. This custom gown if tailored perfectly to her curves would be absolutely gorgeous on Yalitza especially if paired with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a navy satin Prada box clutch, a pair of navy velvet Prada peep toe sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and sapphire drop earrings.

The 2019 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday February 24, 2019.

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Oscar night is always one of the nights of the years I look forward to the most. It has felt like it was never going to get here and is here all too fast at the same time this year. We are less than a week out and I am really excited to see what everyone is cooking up behind the scenes right now for Hollywood’s biggest night. With it also being the middle of fashion month I am sure that while everyone is going nuts trying to get custom gowns created or snatch the newest thing as soon as it comes down the runway.I won’t lie to you I haven’t been feeling that Amy Adams magic this awards season. I know she has the potential to really WOW me, but she hasn’t given me anything to gasp over. It has honestly been a little while since I have really loved something that Amy has worn, and I want to see her wearing something absolutely glamorous on the Oscars red carpet this weekend. She is nominated for Best Supporting Actress and if anyone might upset Regina King it would be Amy (though I don’t believe that is going to happen.) I would love to see Amy deliver head to toe glamour and this bright red Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture off the shoulder gown which features a portrait style neckline, draped pin pleats, a flowing skirt, and a cape like train. This was honestly one of the first gowns I picked for this years red carpet and I believe that Amy would own this gown in such a glamorous manner. I would style it with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of red Gianvito Rossi crystal embellished mesh ankle strap sandals, and a statement Cartier diamond and ruby collar necklace to really ensure this look is glamour defined from head to toe. Charlize Theron started the season out with nominations in the Best Actress – Musical/Comedy categories at the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards. She wore her contractual obligatory Dior Couture gown for the Globes and dazzled in mermaid vibe Givenchy Couture at Critics. I can expect nothing other than a Dior gown from Charlize at the Oscars. I looked at both the recent Spring 2019 Couture collection and the Fall 2018 Couture collection to see if there was something presented on the runway I would want to see Charlize wear on the red carpet. But there wasn’t really anything. I didn’t really have any ideas based on those collections for a custom gown. So I went to Pinterest and put Vintage Dior Gown into the search bar. I don’t typically see Charlize as a vintage girl, but I was hoping that there could be something I could use as a jumping point for a custom gown. I found a black and white gown from the late 50s or early 60s that I fell in love with. I sent it to my photo editor and we started the process. I decided that instead of black and white I wanted to do silver and black which is where this strapless gown which features a black velvet bodice and a satin skirt and train came from. In my head the gown is a sheath silhouette with the train attached at the waist that trails behind Charlize. Now some might see this as something more suited to a nominee, but Charlize has never strayed away from the go big or go home mentality so why start now. A sleek vintage inspired updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black satin Jimmy Choo ‘Kenny’ crystal embellished sandals, and a statement Harry Winston diamond collar necklace would all keep the classic glamour of this custom look alive. Last years winners in all of the acting categories are confirmed to be attending this years ceremony as presenters. I was wondering if that was going to be the case with Frances McDormand since she didn’t present or walk the red carpets last year, but sources say that she is going to be there. Now will she walk the red carpet or slip in the side door I don’t know. A year ago I felt like I had to pick gowns for Frances because she was going to win. This year I saw this green Marc Jacobs Fall 2019 RTW crystal embellished gown which features a turtle neck, long sleeves, and a pleated skirt come down the runway and she was the first person to pop into my brain. I think that thinking of high fashion when it comes to Frances all changed when she SHOCKED me with a Valentino Couture cape and matching feathered headpiece at the Met Gala last year. I think that this gown is perfect for Frances because it is the same shape as she tends to favor, but from a designer whom she hasn’t worn on a red carpet before and I think that with her signature short curls, barely there makeup, a pair of black satin Jimmy Choo ‘Santina’ crystal embellished block heel platform sandals, and simple Hueb ‘Spectrum’ emerald and diamond stud earrings that Frances would have another really chic and surprising moment on her hands. Marina de Tavira was a bit of a surprise nomination for me. We have seen the Roma actress on all of the awards season red carpets supporting the film, but this is the first time that she has been nominated for her performance in the film. The Best Supporting Actress category is definitely one of the ones who I think is a solid lock. I think that it is Regina King’s statue to loose, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want all of the nominees to bring their a-game to the red carpet. Marina has favored designs from Vivienne Westwood this awards season and I am almost expecting that she will wear another gown from the famed British fashion house on the red carpet at the Oscars this weekend. This dusty peach corseted gown in the brands signature draping from the Vivienne Westwood Fall 2019 RTW collection just came down the runway yesterday and I think that it will be worn off the runway this weekend at the Oscars. I would style this gown with a romantic updo, defined eyes, nude pink lips, a pair of gold Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Maeva Pearl D’ sandals, and statement Anabela Chan ‘Ruby Rose’ drop earrings made up of rubies, tourmalines, pink sapphires, and white diamonds. Finishing out day one of my Oscar wishes is Best Supporting Actress nominee Rachel Weisz. I have been waiting for Rachel to bring a Chloe gown to the red carpet all awards season and Sunday night is the last chance we have. We don’t really see Chloe send gowns down the runway so of course whatever she wears will have to be custom made for her. I found a navy long sleeve silk crepe de chine with a floral lace trimmed dress on Net-A-Porter and wondered what I could do with it. Sometimes in my messages back and forth with my photo editor looks can take two or three back and forth before I say okay. This gown had us go back and forth 10 times. I adore the final product with this sleeveless halter gown which features a v-neckline, a column silhouette, crystal embellished lace trim among the neckline and the front of the gown and a dramatic scarf train. For the back of the dress we were inspired by the red Alaia gown that Rihanna wore for the Grammy Awards a few years ago it adds that drama with a bit of sheer crystal embellished scarf and train. The gown is very Chloe bohemian from the front but the back of the dress is where all the drama comes from. The shape of the dress is already more dramatic than we are used to seeing from Rachel so I would just finish this look with simple navy Rene Caovilla ‘Evania’ satin crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, a romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of simple vintage Van Cleef & Arpels diamond and sapphire art deco drop earrings to make this one of Rachel’s best red carpet moments EVER.

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Here we go! It is finally time. The time we have all been waiting for all awards season long. Today we kick off my wishes for the red carpet at the 2019 Academy Awards. I start every major red carpet looking back at how many times a look from that red carpet has been featured on my Best Dressed of the Year lists since I started If I Was A Stylist. You would think that as one of the biggest nights for red carpet fashion, but only 3 times since I started If I Was A Stylist that an Oscar red carpet look has made my Best Dressed of the Year list. The first was the Givenchy Couture gown Anne Hathaway wore while hosting the Oscars in 2011, the second was Gwyneth Paltrow’s white Tom Ford caped gown in 2012, and then it wasn’t until last year thanks to Nicole Kidman in custom Armani Prive did an Oscar night look make the list again. I want to see stars bring the drama and glamour to the red carpet giving me several Best Dressed of the Year contenders. Allison Janney won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar last year, and she is going to be on hand again this year as a presenter. I really want Allison to dazzle me on the red carpet. I LOVED the red cape sleeve Reem Acra gown that she wore last year. It was one of her best looks ever and I want to see her deliver another major moment on the Oscars red carpet this Sunday. I went back to that same designer for the perfect gown for her to wear this year with this gold Reem Acra Fall 2019 RTW fully sequined gown which features cold shoulders, long sleeves, beaded straps, a v-neckline, sheath silhouette, and a slight train. This is definitely a bit of a risk since Allison is usually a little more covered than the top of this gown would show, but I could see her stylist Tara Sweenen trying to convince her this is the best option. I would almost want more of a train than the gown has in the look book for Allison to wear for an Oscars red carpet. Add a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a gold Sophia Webster ‘Clara Crystal’ box clutch, a pair of custom gold Sophia Webster ‘Coco Crystal’ metallic leather pumps, and Norman Silverman white and yellow diamond chandelier earrings and I know this will be the perfect look for her to wear on this red carpet. This year will be the first time that Constance Wu attends the Oscars. While her filmĀ Crazy Rich Asians might not have gotten any Oscar love like it did at most of the other major awards season she is confirmed as one of the many presenters this Sunday. She hasn’t been killing the game all awards season, save for the nude Vera Wang ballgown she wore for the Golden Globe Awards and I am ready for her to give me a look to love again. With that in mind it is a little bit of a risk picking a look off the Dior runway if a major moment is my goal. I think that this barely mint Christian Dior Spring 2019 Couture pleated a-line gown which features think straps, ruffled bodice detail, a v-neckline, and intricate gold beaded embroidery could go either really good or really bad and I am praying that on Constance it would be absolute feminine glamour. I think that with a romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of champagne gold glitter Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ crystal heel sandals, and yellow sapphire and white diamond Van Cleef & Arpels floral drop earrings that this look would be perfect for Constance to deliver on this red carpet. Emilia Clarke has been wearing a lot of Dior lately, and it hasn’t been working for me. I know she has the potential to really make me go WOW do her Dior looks have made me really sad. She is also going to be a first time presenter at this years Academy Awards and I want to see Emilia give us major glam on the red carpet wearing this red Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture chiffon gown which sunray pleated asymmetric draped bodice, cap sleeves, a sash drape from the sleeve, and thigh-high leg slit. This gown is gorgeous and it honestly shocks me that it hasn’t been worn on a red carpet since it was first presented a little over a year ago. I would ask Ralph & Russo to make sure the the gown is lined for Emilia. But adding a pair of red Gianvito Rossi ‘Tabasco’ satin strappy sandals, a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, red lips, and dazzling David Morris diamond and ruby chandelier earrings would definitely ensure that this look is glamour defined from head to toe. I have been #TeamLadyGaga to take home the Best Actress trophy for her performance in A Star Is Born all awards season. That is until last night when I finally watched The Wife staring Glenn Close. Now with that being said I am definitely still expecting Gaga to walk away with a little gold man by the end of Sunday nights telecast. I think that after she has swept all the awards shows including Golden Globes, Critics Choice, BAFTA, and Grammy Awards for Best Original Song it would be a major upset to see anyone else win. I mentioned in a post the other day for the Valentino Couture gown I want to see Gaga wear for the Vanity Fair party after the Oscars that I am definitely expecting at least three fashion moments from her over the course of the evening, but I am wishing for four. So you already have seen that after party wish now lets get to the three looks I want to see from Gaga during the actual telecast. First is the red carpet look. I am honestly SHOCKED that Gaga hasn’t worn a single Versace gown during this promo tour or awards season, I am almost praying that she is holding out to wear a design by her good friend Donatella on the red carpet at the Oscars. I found this dramatic ‘Eventail’ strapless gown which features a dramatic bow back train ans a sheer 3D floral embellished column gown construction from the Atelier Versace Spring 2019 RTW collection and I fell in love with it. I definitely think it is something right up actress Gaga’s ally. I would however see if Donatella would custom make the gown in gold for Gaga. Big winners at the Oscars usually wear gold. It is a fact pattern that no one can deny and I definite can picture this gown with the silk gazzar in champagne gold, the flowers in antique gold and a gold crystal embellished lining added to really make this look sparkle. That is that glamour and drama that I am craving from Gaga to bring to life on this red carpet. She has been partnered with Tiffany & Co. all awards season so I would imagine that they will continue to pay her to wear their diamonds on the red carpet at the Oscars. I would dig into the brands extensive archive picking a pair of vintage Tiffany & Co. by Jean Schlumberger diamond, yellow gold, and pearl wing earrings and a matching vintage yellow gold and diamond bracelet to compliment the custom gold version of this gown. Finishing the look with a pair of gold Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Casati’ faux pearl embellished leather platform sandals, a vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, and antique rose pink lips would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. For her change from red carpet to performance I want to go with something a little unexpected. Most performers go with gowns or suits to perform on the Oscars stage, I decided I wanted to mix what we expect from Lady Gaga with who her A Star Is Born character was. As I was looking for the perfect look that defined both Gaga and Ally I found this black and white Givenchy Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which features a white feather and pearl embellished structured crop top and a pair of black high waisted shorts. That is exactly what I would expect from Gaga on this stage. It is edgy and glamorous and very rock and roll. It is the closest I think she would get to a vintage tour t-shirt and cutoff denim shorts on the Oscars stage. This look would need Gaga to rock a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Belle’ crystal embellished mesh pointed toe stiletto ankle boots, rocker hair like she wore to the Grammy Awards, smokey eyes, nude lips, and fishnets to really be the perfect version of Gaga meets Ally meets Oscars. Going back to glamour for the rest of the show, and hopefully to pick up an Oscar, I would love to see Gaga wearing this silver fully beaded Paolo Sebastian Spring 2019 Couture gown which features a sheer yoke, beaded fringe cape, and a column silhouette. It gives distinct Hedy Lamar vibes and I know that is something that Gaga would be drawn to. Wouldn’t this gown look gorgeous on the Oscars stage accessorized with a little gold man in Gaga’s hands? Another hair change to have old Hollywood waves like the model in the lookbook adding winged eyes, red lips, a pair of blush satin Versace platform sandals, and a pair of diamond and emerald Tiffany & Co. by Jean Schlumberger cluster earrings would all but guarantee a major winners fashion moment for Gaga. Another almost certain Oscar winner is Rami Malek. I wasn’t so sure heading into this season that Rami was going to sweep but when he won the Golden Globe for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody I knew he would go all the way. I will say I have been a little disappointed in Rami’s style this awards season. I was hoping he was going to push the boundaries of menswear just a little more than he has. I did appreciate his so pale of pink that in most photos it looked white custom Louis Vuitton suit at BAFTA Awards and I decided to actually go with white as the starting point for the perfect look for Rami to wear for the Oscars. I saw this white sequined Givenchy Fall 2019 Menswear tuxedo jacket in the brands lookbook last month and have been waiting ever so patiently for this wish list to be able to use it praying that the wish wouldn’t come true before I got a change to put it out there. I think that this white sequined wide lapel tuxedo jacket would certainly have gotten Freddie’s seal of approval. Now while Freddie may have worn it exactly as it was presented in the lookbook I can imagine that Rami will have to pair it with standard styling including black tuxedo pants, a white tuxedo shirt, black satin bow tie, and simple black patent leather oxfords for this to be the kind of look he would wear for the Oscars. I do think that adding this jacket would be the perfect way for Rami to pay a bit of fashion homage to Freddie on Oscar night.

The 2019 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday February 24, 2019.
