Cannes 2019: “Pain & Glory” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival kicks off tomorrow and I am super excited! Just the looks that stars have worn while arriving at the Nice Airport ahead of the festival are making me anticipate what the red carpets at the festival will bring. On Friday May 17, 2019 the festival will present Pedro Almodóvar’s latest flick Pain and Glory. After opening last years festival Penelope Cruz is also back this year. She has become a Cannes staple and I am excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet at her latest film’s premiere. Penelope Cruz is under contract with Chanel as a face of the brand. It means we are definitely doing to see the Spanish actress wearing the label in Cannes this year, but I am hoping that she isn’t wearing the brand for every event she attends. For the Pain and Glory photocall I decided to step outside of Chanel and pick this black and grey floral print Ralph Lauren Spring 2019 RTW draped halter dress which features a gold buckle belted waist and an a-line skirt. It seems that for the most part since she signed with Chanel that if she isn’t wearing the brand on the red carpet that Ralph Lauren is her go to designer. I love that. She fits Ralph’s feminine glamour perfectly. This dress definitely fits the right vibe for a Cannes photocall and I definitely think that it suits Penelope. Pair it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of gold Christian Louboutin ‘Norina’ strappy half d’Orsay metallic leather sandals, and Atelier Swarovski by Penelope Cruz ‘Moonsun’ lab created diamond ear-jackets to really make sure it’s perfect for Cannes. For the premiere I decided to stick with Chanel, but dig deep into the brands archives. Penelope has dug deep into the archives since being announced as a face of Chanel with vintage looks for last years Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, and most recently the Met Gala. So I went on Pinterest and typed in 1980’s Chanel and that is how I found this bold red strapless taffeta gown with a draped bow hip that turns into a sweeping train from the Chanel Fall 1986 Couture collection. Honestly this gown looks like it could have come down the runway now. If it wasn’t for the fact it is being modeled by Jerry Hall I would question if it was a recent runway look. It’s a classic shape in a bold color and I definitely think Penelope would be drawn to it. This gown would definitely be one of the most statement making Chanel moments that Penelope has had since taking her role as a brand ambassador for the label and I think that is exactly what is needed for a major Cannes moment. I want her to take this risk. Step out of the classic Chanel ‘Little Black Dress’ and give us nothing but glamour. That idea would be achieved perfectly with a side parted bouffant updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of lab created diamond and ruby Atelier Swarovski by Penelope Cruz ‘Lola’ drop earrings, a red satin Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ crystal embellished clasp clutch, and a pair of red Gianvito Rossi crystal embellished ankle strap sandals. If Elle Fanning’s uber chic Stella McCartney linen suit which she wore to arrive at the festival is any indication I would say that we are definitely in good hands this year. When it comes to high style on the jury this year it all rests on Elle Fanning. I am hoping that means she will be more Diane Kruger than Jessica Chastain in her appearances during this years festival. I want nothing but major moment from that airport arrival to her departure. I have a feeling deep in my gut that Elle is going to deliver several Best Dressed of the Year worthy moments. One I would love to see from her is this lavender asymmetric lamé off-the-
shoulder Ralph & Russo Spring 2019 Couture ball gown which features a voluminous high low bubble hem peplum skirt and ruffle neckline. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this gown and I really want to see it brought to life on the red carpet in Cannes at some point. We haven’t seen Elle wear Ralph & Russo in the past, but I definitely think that this gown fits her very dramatic take on feminine glamour. Finish the look with a sleek vintage inspired updo, winged eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver Aquazzura ‘Temptation’ crustal embellished metallic leather and PVC peep toe sling back pumps, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection amethyst and diamond drop earrings to really make this look sing Elle’s glamorous tune. Cara Delevingne is a recent addition to the Dior Makeup family. She was a face of Rimmel London and now she is the face of Dior Addict lipsticks and Dior skincare. I am hoping that means that like Bella Hadid that she will be in Cannes representing the brand on the festivals red carpets. Now regular readers will know that I don’t really love Dior by Maria Grazia Chiuri, but I do love how Cara wears the brand (usually.) She brings this edge to anything she wears and breathes life into even the most lifeless clothing. I decided to dig into the archive a little bit heading back to the Christian Dior Spring 2018 Couture collection to find this white asymmetrically tiered sheer tulle gown for Cara to wear for this years Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Now I am typically over naked dresses on the red carpet, but Cara is one who can still sell them to me. I want to see Cara deliver this gown with the perfect nude undies so we have to question if she has anything on at all. I know she has the edge and glamour to really pull this gown off. I would finish it with a punky yet glamorous pixie style, defined eyes, red lips, iridescent white Christian Louboutin ‘Faridaravie’ bubble studded PVC and metallic leather sandals, and a pair of Messika ‘Sirenetta’ diamond tassel fringe earrings to really make this a major Dior moment for Cara to bring to life in Cannes.Regular readers will also know that I am not a huge Kendall Jenner fan. She just irks me. I will give her credit for being one of my favorites at this years Met Gala though. Since I know that we are undoubtedly going to be seeing Miss Jenner in Cannes this year I decided to put forth a wish for something I really would love to see her bring to life on the festivals red carpet. She was a muse to Karl Lagerfeld, but she never got to have a couture red carpet moment while he was alive. Well I am ready to change that by having Kendall wear this black one shoulder Chanel Fall 2018 Couture column gown which features intricate silver breaded trim embellishments and a split up the back for her red carpet moment at this years Cannes Film Festival. Now Kendall would most likely post like the runway model giving us a lot of sass and leg, but honestly I would love to see her wear this gown with a very demure pose. A sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black satin Christian Louboutin ‘Palmette’ clutch, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Marie Edwina’ satin ribbon and PVC strappy sandals, and a selection of de Grisogono jewels including a pair of black diamond, white diamond, and emerald drop earrings, and a statement emerald and diamond cocktail ring would definitely make this one of Kendall’s chicest red carpet moments ever. Rounding out this wish is the gorgeous Naomi Campbell. She has been killing the fashion game lately and I am really excited to see what she has in store for her time in Cannes this year. She typically attends one premiere and then hosts her Runway For Relief charity fashion show during the festival. For her look on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals for a premiere I decided to pick this red Atelier Versace Spring 2019 Couture one shoulder gown which features a cape sleeve, 3D embroidery on the shoulder, a fitted silhouette, and a thigh high split. This is definitely a regal moment I know that the queen of the supermodels would deliver with effortless ease especially if paired with sleek center parted locks, smokey eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of black Sergio Rossi ‘Dafne’ crystal embellished t-strap sandals, de Grisogono ‘Gypsy’ white gold and white diamond coil drop earrings, and a ruby and diamond de Grisogono cocktail ring. It would all ensure a chic and glamorous moment for Naomi.

Cannes 2019: “Rocketman” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival is set to kick off Tuesday and I have to say I am super excited to see what everyone will bring to the festival. Jury members have started arriving at the airport in Nice and stars of films are expected to start arriving tomorrow! Now unfortunately I cannot do a wish list for every premiere. Between the lack of time and my lack of knowledge on the styles of many of the stars who have films screening at this years festival I am limited in the offerings I can make as wishes. I am going to take advantage of my wishes this year in a new way though. While in previous years I have done individual wishes for some of the regular stars whom aren’t on the jury, in films, or a L’Orealista I have decided this year to sprinkle those stars into my wishes for the film premieres. This in no way means that I know they are attending these particular premieres, but I wanted to make sure I put some wishes into the universe for them to wear on the festivals red carpet whenever they are slated to walk that famous red carpet. I was super excited to see that the Elton John bio-pic Rocketman was selected to be a special out of competition gala. The film itself looks AMAZING and I am really looking forward to watching it myself. The cast however leaves a little to be desired when it comes to red carpet potential. I do hope however that everyone brings their a-game for a big Cannes Film Festival gala premiere. When it comes to her red carpet style Bryce Dallas Howard is mostly known for the fact that she buys everything she wears. That isn’t like the Oprah dressing in looks she buys. She gets them off the rack. I am wondering if that is going to be the case for her time in Cannes. I would imagine it will. So instead of shopping the runways or creating anything custom for Bryce I decided I was going to shop the virtual racks instead. For the photocall I decided I wanted to do a pencil dress from Alexander McQueen. I saw this black short sleeve floral jacquard sheath dress on NeimanMarcus.com and I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. It is a simple and classic look from McQueen and I definitely think it is something that Bryce would bring to life on the red carpet. Pair it with a sleek chignon, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Manolo Blahnik ‘BB’ pointed toe pumps and this look would be perfectly set for Bryce to wear for her Cannes Film Festival photocall. Now where I am really worried about Bryce is when it comes to the premiere. Her red carpet gowns usually leave a lot to be desired. So I wanted to make sure I found something I think would make for a major moment on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. I saw this coral Zac Posen silk-faille ball gown which features a v-neckline, short sleeves, and a pleated ball skirt and I definitely think that it would be a major moment for her to bring to life on this red carpet. Her red hair styled into a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of gold Gucci ‘Crawford’ metallic leather sandals, and a statement Bulgari high jewelry ‘Divas’ Dream’ necklace in 18 kt rose gold set with carnelian and mother-of-pearl elements and pavé diamonds would all make this a major style moment for Bryce to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Elle Fanning arrived in Cannes today in high style wearing a beige Stella McCartney linen suit paired with a set of monogrammed Louis Vuitton carry-on luggage, a Chanel belt bag, oversized sunnies, and Gucci sandals. It makes me very excited to see what she and her stylist Samantha McMillen have in store for us over the course of the festival. When I was starting to put my wishes for Elle together I realized that almost everything I love for her is pink and ball gowns. So when it came to custom looks I told Evita no pink and no ballgowns. I knew that I wanted something custom Prada for Elle to wear in Cannes this year. So when I was looking at the Fall 2019 RTW collection for inspiration I decided that the yellow 3D floral corsages were perfect for Elle. We decided that a pleated strapless design with a dramatic train would be perfect and thus this custom gown was born. It is a chic gown that I think would make for a major breezy glam moment for Elle to bring to a film festival red carpet. A sleek low bun, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of gold Prada metallic leather and PVC sandals, and Tiffany & Co. jewels including a pair of white and yellow diamond floral drop earrings and a selection of white and yellow diamond tennis bracelets would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. Bella Hadid has become a Cannes Film Festival staple. As a face of Dior makeup and Bulgari she is always serving looks on the red carpet at the festival. So for the first look I’ve picked for Bella is to honor her Dior contract picking this metallic dark multicolor lamé Christian Dior Spring 2019 Couture strapless gown which features a bow detail on the hip and an a-line skirt. The runway version of this gown is just a floor skimming look, but I would definitely want to see this gown have a dramatic train added for Bella to wear on the Cannes red carpet. Her Dior looks the last two years have been major and I think with that modification this one would be too. A sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of gold Gianvito Rossi ‘Serena’ crystal ankle wrap strappy sandals, and a Bulgari High Jewelry ‘DIVAS’ DREAM Gioco e Vanità’ sapphire, ruby, diamond, emerald, and amethyst necklace would make this look live up to the expectation Bella has set. Now she typically does two nights on the red carpets at the festival. One look is always Dior, the other is almost always something sexy and glamorous. This year I would LOVE to see Bella bring this dark crimson red Zuhair Murad Fall 2018 Couture column gown which features a dramatic structured bustier bodice with a plunging neckline, velvet waist band, peplum waist, off the shoulder sleeves, intricate embroidery, and sheer construction to life on this red carpet. Typically I go for big gown with either a big skirt or a long train for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, but I definitely think that this column gown for Bella to bring to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival while promoting Bulgari. This gown styled with old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ PVC trimmed metallic leather sandals, and a Bulgari ‘Festa’ diamond lacework collar necklace would be head to toe perfection for Bella. I know that Spanish supermodel Nieves Alvarez is confirmed to be in Cannes this year and that makes me really excited. She knows how to shut down a red carpet and I know she has the potential to really wow me on the Cannes Film Festival red carpets. I was going to pick two looks for Nieves since her stylist has said that she is expected to walk 2-3 days at the festival, but I was on a time crunch and the only gown that spoke to me was this silver bugle bead covered Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture one shoulder gown which features a dramatic ruffled detail, a fitted silhouette, flared hem, and a dramatic train. I have loved this gown since I first saw it and have been wondering who the perfect person to bring this look to life was. While I was on the hunt for the perfect gowns for Nieves to wear as soon as I saw this one I fell in love and knew I had found the right fit. I know Nieves has the statuesque elegance to really make this look come to life on the red carpet especially if paired with a loose updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a silver Christian Louboutin ‘Palmette’ crystal embellished clutch, a pair of silver studded Christian Louboutin ‘Jamais Azzez’ PVC and metallic leather t-strap sandals, and a selection of Bulgari High Jewelry including ‘Le Magnifiche Creazioni’ sapphire and diamond drop earrings and a ‘Music’ diamond and onyx bracelet.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 14, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

Cannes 2019: Opening Ceremony & “The Dead Don’t Die” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

So we are in the final stretch now! The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens on Tuesday! I am so excited to see what everyone is cooking up for this years red carpets. From the photocalls, to premieres, to parties, and everything that comes in between. This year the festival is opening with Jim Jarmusch’s zombie comedy The Dead Don’t Die. It seems like a bit of an odd choice, but hey with the cast it has I’m not complaining. While I focus a lot of time on the L’Orealista’s and the jury members the festival really is about the celebration of film and this years selection seems to be one of the strongest in recent years. The Dead Don’t Die is an in competition film and not a special screening. In recent years the festival has strayed away from glitzy Hollywood films to open the festival after films like The Great Gatsby, Robin Hood, Midnight in Paris, and Grace of Monaco all seemed to flop at the box office. I don’t think The Dead Won’t Die will be a box office success, but I am glad to see a star studded film kicking off the festival this year. Tilda Swinton is no stranger to Cannes and The Dead Don’t Die isn’t the first film the actress has stared in that has opened the festival. I love a Swinton sighting on the red carpet and I am super excited to see what she is going to bring to the festival this year. For the photocall I went straight to sequin couture. Now Tilda’s typical MO when it comes to Cannes photocalls is a chiffon blouse and pencil skirt, or a Haider Ackermann skirt suit. So this bold red sequin Armani Prive Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which features a strong shoulder button-less blazer and calf length pencil dress is definitely out of her typical wheelhouse, thanks to the brand. We have never seen Tilda wear Armani Prive in the past, but I definitely think that this suit is perfect for Tilda to bring to life. It is glamour defined and I definitely believe that it is a perfect look to kick off Cannes. A sleek coif, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of red satin Roger Vivier ‘I Love Vivier’ pointed toe pumps all would ensure that Tilda kicks this years festival off in high glamorous style. For the quick change for the big gala premiere I went back to Tilda’s go-to designer Haider Ackermann. While Tilda typically goes to more of a structured moment for her red carpet looks I decided to create this custom lime green draped caftan style silk Haider Ackermann gown which features batwing sleeves and a pussy bow. I saw a white version of this caftan tucked into a pair of black patent leather pants on Lyst.com and fell in love with the idea. I decided on the color because of a pajama inspired blazer from the Haider Ackermann Spring 2019 RTW collection. It would definitely be an amazing moment and Tilda is one of the few who can really rock this color with ease on the red carpet. Finish this look with a sleek coif, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of silver Roger Vivier ‘Maharaja’ feather detailed slingback kitten heels, and Cartier diamond and peridot ear crawler earrings and Tilda will own the red carpet at this years Opening Ceremony. This year will be the first time Selena Gomez has been to the Cannes Film Festival. I saw that she was in the cast of The Dead Don’t Die and I got excited because when it comes to big red carpets Selena typically turns it out. So I am very excited to see what Selena will bring to the red carpet for her Cannes debut. For the photocall I went for a young French designer for Selena: Koché. So far only Rita Ora, Beyonce, and Marion Cotillard have worn the label and that saddens me. I adore this burnt orange Koché Fall 2019 RTW burnout velvet slip style skater dress trimmed in lace and while it wasn’t the first option I looked at for Selena to wear on this red carpet the moment I saw it I knew it was the right option for her. It is chic and elegant and I definitely think that Selena would wear it with effortless ease on the photocall balcony overlooking the French Riviera especially if she paired this dress with nude Aquazzura ‘Minimalist’ sandals, a loose updo, defined eyes, soft nude pink lips, and a pair of diamond and turquoise Irene Neuwirth pendant drop earrings. Now for the premiere I had originally had Evita design a custom Louis Vuitton gown for Selena, but then she showed up to an event wearing Christian Dior and I started to waver on that idea. In fact the moment I saw Selena in that navy blue Dior gown this white Christian Dior Spring 2018 Couture strapless ballgown which features a vest inspired bodice and a sheer organza a-line skirt popped into my mind and I immediately dropped the LV gown in favor of this gown. I still cannot believe that this gown hasn’t been worn yet. It was my favorite gown to come out of last springs couture collection and I definitely think that Selena is the perfect person to bring this gown to life on the red carpet for her Cannes debut. It is glamorous with a hint of sexy and I definitely think that is what Selena does both. A sleek side parted updo, defined winged eyes, red lips, a pair of white strappy Aquazzura ‘Gin’ sandals, and a statement Messika ‘Persian Drops’ diamond collar necklace would all add the perfect finishing touches to a majorly glamorous moment for Selena to deliver on the red carpet for her big Cannes Film Festival debut. After serving on the Cannes Critics Week jury during last years festival Chloe Sevigny is headed back to the Croisette this year to premiere her latest film The Dead Don’t Die. In her fashion run last year Chloe exclusively wore Chanel, except for a Kering dinner where she wore a Gucci gown. Given the death of Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld I am interested in seeing who will pay tribute to the late designer on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. While it is likely that Chloe will wear Chanel on the red carpet in Cannes I decided to go another way. For the photocall I decided to go with a grass green and navy blue Gucci Fall 2019 RTW ensemble which features a long puffy sleeve bodice, peter pan collar with a ribbon necktie, gold buttons, and a car wash pleated mini skirt. It is a beautiful and avant garde look and I know that is something that Chloe is typically drawn to. I won’t lie I typically coordinate the photocall and premiere looks for cast members, but for this set of wishes the looks aren’t as cohesive. I don’t think that matters because each of these ladies have a very unique and different sense of style. For this Gucci look I think that sleek high bun, defined eyes, bright pink lips, and green Gucci moiré silk chunky mid-heel crystal embellished pumps would finish this look in the perfect manner for Chloe. For the premiere I went with a designer Chloe hasn’t worn on the red carpet: Alexis Mabille. I want to see Chloe deliver this midnight blue Moroccan crepe Alexis Mabille Spring 2019 Couture long handkerchief gown trimmed with a flurry of birdcage tulle on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I love an Alexis Mabille moment on the red carpet and the Cannes Film Festival is one of the few places where we typically see the designers creations worn. This gown is definitely within Chloe’s sense of style and I think that this gown is perfect for her. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a black satin Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch with an intricate crystal embellished clasp, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Maharaja’ stiletto satin feather embellished sandals, and Chopard Green Carpet Collection diamond chandelier earrings would ensure this look is head to toe perfection. It is no secret that I am super excited for Elle Fanning to be on the Jury of this years Cannes Film Festival. She has always delivered on the Cannes red carpets in the past. I just hope that she lives up to my expectations and doesn’t make me sad unlike Jessica Chastain, Fan Bingbing, and Cate Blanchett. I want her to deliver major Cannes moments like Diane Kruger, Zhang Ziyi, and Nicole Kidman did during their time on the festivals juries. As soon as Elle was announced as a jury member my mind immediately started planning looks for her. This antique rose pink Valentino Spring 2019 Couture strapless ruffled ballgown was one of the first runway looks that came to mind. Now while her stylist, Samantha McMillan, is known as the Queen of Custom and definitely think that she has a bevy of custom gowns on the ready for Elle I also believe that she will be pulling some major moments from the runways. This soft pink gown is perfect for Elle and I know that she would deliver it ease on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. A sleek updo, winged eyes, matching pink lips, soft blush on the cheeks, a pair of blush satin Sophia Webster ‘Lilico’ crystal embellished sandals, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. jewels including a simple emerald cut diamond drop earrings and a chic white diamond and pink sapphire butterfly collar necklace would all ensure that Elle has the most glamorous and dramatic start to her run at this years festival!Nadine Labaki is the president of the Un Certain Regard selection of this years festival and thus should be in attendance at the festivals opening ceremony even though the selection of the festival where she provides over actually opens on the second day of the festival. Nadine typically picks looks from Lebanese designers so I am going out on a limb picking this black velvet one sleeve Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture column gown which features bronze crystal embellished trimming for her to wear for the opening ceremony of this years festival. I want to see Nadine bring glamour to the red carpet and that is exactly what this gown delivers. It is sleek glamour and elegance defined. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a black Jimmy Choo ‘Ellipse’ suede crystal embellished clutch, and a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Abril’ knotted leather strappy platform sandals would ensure this look is absolutely glamorous from head to toe. Stacy Martin is also on one of the juries of this years festival and I am interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpets over the course of the festival. It was at last years festival where Stacy’s obsession with Dior seemed to start. Since then she has pretty much exclusively worn the label on the red carpet. I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet. I won’t exclusively pick Dior for Stacy to wear for this years red carpet. Out of her over 100 looks that Maria Grazia Chiuri sent down the runway for the Christian Dior Cruise 2020 collection there were only a handful of looks I wanted to see make the turn from the runway to the red carpet. This wine satin strapless a-line gown from this collection which features a bow draped empire bodice is one of the few collection is one of the few looks I actually want to see make that transition. I think that this gown isn’t going to be unworn very long. Cannes is calling. The effortless glamour of this gown would be finished perfectly with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a pair of wine Saint Laurent ‘Hall’ platform sandals, and vintage Cartier diamond and ruby waterfall drop earrings.Rounding out this list is Cannes Film Festival regular Fan Bingbing. The Chinese actress recently came out of seclusion following a public disgrace and scandal for not paying taxes in China. The world wondered where she went. After months of hiding she and the Chinese government have come to an agreement and she has taken her place back in the spotlight. I am interested in seeing if the actress will once again make the journey from China to the south of France for this years festival. She used to be a L’Orealista and an ambassador for Chopard, but is neither anymore. Given her history with the festival I definitely want to see her back on the red carpet. I knew a dramatic moment would be perfect so I think that red Georges Hobeika Spring 2019 Couture ballgown which features a strapless satin bustier and a ruffled ball skirt with a dramatic train is perfect for Fan to deliver on this years festival red carpet. Finishing the look with a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, red lips, a red satin Roger Vivier floral crystal embellished buckle clutch, a pair of red satin Roger Vivier ‘I Love Vivier’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of DeBeers diamonds including Arpeggia’ five line diamond chandelier earrings, ‘Celestia’ necklace features three lines of bezel-set round brilliant diamonds that slowly turn to pear-shaped diamonds, and a ‘Phenomena Glacier’ seven row cuff bracelet would ensure that this is a major moment for Fan to wear for her return to Cannes.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 14, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

Cannes 2019: Jury Photocalls Red Carpet Wish List

Now that I have all my L’Orealista wishes out of the way for Cannes 2019 it is time to get into the stars who have official duties at this years festival. Typically I would put a wish list together for each of the different juries individually, but given the fact that over the different selection juries there are only three names that pique my interest (stylistically at least) I decided to combine them all into one. It just made sense, and saves time, so here we go!I won’t lie I had this feeling deep in my soul that Charlize Theron was going to be on this years Cannes Film Festival Feature Film Jury. I had actually had already started going through looks for Charlize, because that feeling in my gut was so strong. Well as soon as I had gotten through all the couture collections I got the official press release announcing this years jury, and alas there was no Charlize. But don’t think I was disappointed when instead I saw Elle Fanning was on this years list. She was sorely missed last year after a plethora of major moments the year before. So the fact that she is definitely going to be bringing major moments to the red carpet I knew I was ready to see Elle back in Cannes this year. I decided I wanted to kick off my wishes for her to bring to life during her time in Cannes this year in high style with this pistachio green Chanel Spring 2019 Couture cap sleeve a-line knee length dress which features structured shoulders, a v-neckline, intricate multicolored pasted beaded embellishments, and a split bubble hem a-line skirt. In Cannes picking a couture dress for a photocall is totally acceptable. While I would typically pick a dress like this for more of a cocktail event I think that it has the right vibe to ensure that Elle kicks off her Cannes jury duty in high style. A sleek ponytail (though not as I Dream of Jeannie as her Met Gala hair), defined eyes, rosy pink cheeks, glossy pink lips, gold and ivory metallic brocade Roger Vivier ‘Broche Vivier’ crystal buckled embellished pointed toe pumps, and a pair of vintage Tiffany & Co. pearl and diamond cluster earrings would all ensure that is exactly what happens. Lebanese actress and director Nadine Labaki rode her 2018 Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize for Capernaum all the way to a Best Foreign Language Film nomination at the Oscars this year. Well Nadine is going to be back in Cannes this year, but in a much different capacity. Instead of presenting a film in competition she is the president of this years Un Certain Regard jury. It is a nice jump from 2015 when she served on this same jury as just a member of the voting body. That year, and pretty much always, Nadine exclusively wore looks designed by Lebanese designers. I think that might be the case again this year. The great thing about that idea though is that there are quite a few very prominent names whom have dressed Nadine in the past and I am sure will be dressing her again this year. Last year Nadine exclusively wore Elie Saab designs for Cannes and I know we will see her wearing several of the Lebanese designers creations on the red carpet again. I know that Nadine has the potential to really wow me, but she often lets me down. I want to see her kick the festival off in high style and keep the perfection going until it closes. That would easily be achieved if she wore this emerald green long sleeve draped midi dress from the Elie Saab Fall 2019 RTW collection. The color is AMAZING and the draping of the dress definitely makes it just special enough to be a statement casual moment for Nadine to wear in Cannes this year. Where she tends to really loose me is with the styling, especially when it comes to the hair and makeup, so I would style this dress with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of gold metallic lizard print leather Jimmy Choo ‘Love’ pointed toe pumps ensure that this look is absolutely beautiful from head to pointed toe. Stacy Martin had a short film screened in Cannes last year and this year she is on the Cinéfondation and Short Films jury. I go back and forth on my feelings about Stacy’s style. She tends to go all in on one designer. For a while it was Prada and Miu Miu and for about the last year it has been Dior. Now regular readers will know that I am definitely not Maria Grazia Chiuri’s biggest fan, so the fact that Dior is Stacy’s go to label right now is a bit tough for me to level with. However I have swallowed my feelings (so far at least) and picked looks from Dior for Stacy to wear in Cannes. For her jury photocall I went with this Christian Dior Cruise 2020 long sleeve mini dress which features intricate lace, a pinafore bodice, and a car-wash pleated silk ribbon trimmed skirt. I actually don’t hate this dress and do think it would be something Stacy would be drawn to. Now I do think that it is a little dark for a daytime photocall for Stacy, but I believe that she would definitely be okay with that. Now typically Dior devotees wear the brand head to toe on the red carpet, but I just wasn’t feeling any of the shoe options from Dior.com for this look. So instead I decided that a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Joni’ suede plateau sandals would be perfect for Stacy to pair with this look. Finishing the look with a loose chignon, defined eyes, and nude lips would all add the perfect finishing touches ensuring that Stacy kicks off the festival in high style.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 14, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

Cannes 2019: L’Orealista’s Red Carpet Wish List Part 8

Here we are my final set of wishes for the L’Orealista’s in Cannes, but this set of wishes is different than all the rest. This list is solely dedicated to the newest L’Orealista: Celine Dion. 5 years ago I would have kept Celine in one of my regular L’Orealsita wishes just picking three gowns for her to wear on the red carpet, but given the fact that she has delivered major avant garde fashion moments on the sidewalk, red carpet, and stage over the last several years I feel like it is only apt that I dedicate an entire wish list to her. I made this decision as soon as I heard the news that she was a L’Orealista. It was a no brainer since she does have fun with fashion from her street style to her red carpet style. She genuinely LOVES fashion and isn’t afraid to experiment, so I’ve gone shopping on all the runways for 12 amazing moments for Celine to wear during her time at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. If her Met Gala lewk was any indication of the glamour train she is currently riding I cannot wait to see what she has in store for Cannes! The first looks I have on this wish lists are the “casual” moments I want to see from Celine in her street style during this years festival. I don’t do a whole lot of Cannes street style wishes, or street style wishes in general, but given her major sidewalk runway turns in Paris I know that Celine is going to definitely be serving looks from the moment she boards her private jet to head to the festival to the moment she arrives at the Nice airport to head home. Now I have set my expectations really high for Celine, maybe too high, but out of everyone I have set high expectations for Cannes moments for I believe that Celine is going to live up to my hype. So I’ve picked 4 major fashion moments for Celine to rock on the sidewalks of Cannes starting with a hot pink Balenciaga Spring 2019 graffiti print pussy bow peasant dress. We don’t see Balenciaga dress a whole lot of celebrities any more, but I feel like Celine could call up the brand and buy this dress right off the runway and that is exactly what I am hoping for. It is a major casual fashion moment, and would be elevated even more styling it with a silver Celine ‘Small 16’ laminated grained calfskin top handle bag with gold hardware, a sleek ponytail, hot pink draped velvet Balenciaga ‘Knife’ pointed toe stiletto pumps, and a pair of soft pink Tom Ford ‘Rosanna’ cat eye sunglasses. The second look I’ve picked for Celine’s ‘Street Style’ is definitely not your typical street style look, not that any of the look I’ve picked for her are, but it fits in with Celine’s style. She definitely lives by my life mantra of #WhenInDoubtBeExtra and I love that about Celine. The only reason I went into the Fausto Puglisi Fall 2019 RTW collection lookbook for Celine was to pick a fun short party dress, but then I saw this black, ivory, red, and blue baroque print and gold lame ensemble which features a color blocked long sleeve button down shirt, a mini skirt adorned with a large bow, and a trailing sash train and said “oooooo Celine would definitely rock that just to walk from her hotel to lunch.” So I ditched the party dress and picked this look for Celine to wear for her street style. Now while I have gone and really styled up with bags, shoes, and sunglasses the other looks I’ve picked for Celine to wear for Cannes street style I decided I was going to keep the lookbook thigh high boots adding just a sleek chignon, defined eyes, and crimson lips to really make this a stand out style moment for Celine. Following that is a major couture moment for Celine. She has delivered couture on the sidewalk in the past and in Cannes that is definitely not unusual. It was actually because of this slate blue Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which features a draped silk blouse and a fringed midi skirt that I even decided to put a street style section in this list at all. I was searching for perfect gowns and cocktail looks for Celine to wear for premieres and parties and then I saw this look and the idea just clicked. One thing I love about Celine is that more often than not no matter how statement making the clothing item may be that she still does up the styling with her looks. I would add more statement pieces to this look including a black and blue floral print Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Boite Chapeau’ miniature hat box top handle bag and a pair of strappy black Chloe Gosselin ‘Clara’ suede sandals with a sleek low ponytail and a coral pink lip to make this a major statement moment for Celine’s sidewalk style. The final street style look I’ve chosen for Celine is another off the runway haute couture moment. I love me a great Schiaparelli Couture moment on the red carpet, but this yellow wallpaper floral print suit just screams daywear in Cannes. Anywhere else in the world this look would be reserved for a ladies who luncheon event or a semi formal cocktail affair, but in Cannes anything goes and wearing this couture look on a Starbucks run (yea right like Celine is going to be running to get her own Starbucks) wouldn’t make me bat an eyelash. Again this look is such a super statement all on its own but I would add a yellow Miu Miu ‘Madras’ top handle mini train case bag, metallic gold leather Miu Miu chunky crystal embellished sandals, a pair of Linda Farrow ‘Des Voeux’ yellow gold plated titanium mirrored cat eye sunglasses, a top knot, and punchy rose pink lips to round out a major set of daywear for Celine, whom I believe is going to be the Queen of Cannes this year. I am really hoping that Celine turns it out on the red carpet at the premieres. I have all the faith in the world that Celine is going to do just that. I had so many major options for her to bring to life at the Palais de Festivals. The first look I’ve picked for Celine is this Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture evening ensemble which features a black and white feathered bodice with beaded fringe and a black velvet flared skirt with a sweeping train. It was one of the looks I knew I was definitely going to feature in this list. It is the epitome of old Hollywood glamour. She rocked 1920’s Follies glamour for the Met Gala and now I’m going to 40’s femme fatale for the first look I want to see from her in Cannes. I’ve been obsessed with this gown since it was first presented last July and I definitely think it fits the glamour of Cannes. With a pair of black and smokey grey Jimmy Choo ‘Lisha’ plexi star patchwork crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, a sleek low bun side parted updo, defined eyes, dark pink lips, and a pair of major Chopard ‘The Garden of Kalahari’ diamond drop earrings I know that this look is red carpet ready. Following that I had to pick a Celine look for Celine to wear in Cannes. After seeing Celine on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Grammy’s, Oscars, and the Avengers premiere I was shocked that the brand didn’t dress a single person for the Met earlier this week. I am expecting that we will see plenty of the brand when it comes time for Cannes, which kicks off Monday! I have been fantasizing about Celine in Celine for a while now since Celine seems to fit Heidi’s vision for the brand. I went back to the brands Spring 2019 RTW show and found a major gold one shoulder cocktail dress that hasn’t been worn and decided that I wanted it red for Celine to deliver a major sexy glamour moment on the red carpet in Cannes. Celine doesn’t wear red very often so this would definitely be a nice change of pace for her. A loose romantic updo, defined eyes, dark red lips, a pair of red Jimmy Choo ‘Viola’ crystal embellished feather tassel sandals, and Chopard diamond and ruby drop earrings all would ensure Celine delivers this moment in the best manner possible. One of Celine’s favorite designers, traditionally, has been Elie Saab Haute Couture. She has worn his designs for her Las Vegas residency, the American Music Awards, the Oscars, and most recently for the announcement of her world tour! So it was a no brainer to me that I needed one look from the Lebanese couturier for Celine to wear for her debut in Cannes. I looked at a multitude of options and ultimately decided that this gold fully beaded halter gown which features sheer tulle construction, a sweetheart neckline, and a bit of a mermaid silhouette from the Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture collection was perfect. Now it is a very sexy gown, at first glance this is more of a JLo, Beyonce, or Rita Ora moment, but I feel like Celine would deliver this gown in a way that none of those others would. I feel like she would make it more of a subdued sexy moment letting the gown do the talking and not over posing or giving the JLo ‘sexy stare.’ I definitely wouldn’t over style this gown for sure adding just a sleek high bun, smokey eyes, soft rose pink lips, metallic gold leather Christian Louboutin ‘Deck’ PVC paneled pointed toe t-strap pumps, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection white and yellow diamond drop earrings to make this a beautiful and glamorous moment, with just a hint of sex appeal for Celine. The final look I’ve picked for the French Canadian songstress to bring to life on the red carpet at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival is this iridescent teal Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture strapless origami bow draped mermaid gown. I LOVE this gown. I have since the moment I saw it and since it hasn’t been snatched up as of late I definitely think that it is a great fit for someone to wear in Cannes, namely Celine Dion. It has the ability to read quite young, but given a lot of Celine’s fashion choices I don’t think she minds and I don’t think it matters. She has chosen that if someone loves what they are wearing that it always look authentic. There are plenty of stars who could take notes on confidence and humility from Celine. This bold metallic teal gown is the perfect color statement for Celine to bring to life in Cannes and I think it would be perfectly styled with a sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of silver Aquazzura ‘Temptation’ crystal trimmed peep toe PVC sling back pumps, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewelry including diamond, tanzanite, paraiba tourmaline, and amethyst disc earrings and a statement tanzanite, rubellite, and amethyst paisley cuff bracelet.I mentioned that I had a hard time narrowing options for Celine to wear for the premieres because there were so many amazing options. Well when it came to picking party looks I had an even harder time. Not because I had too many options, though there definitely were a lot. It was because I felt like I couldn’t find amazing cocktail options for Celine. I probably went back and forth with some of my fashion friends for 2-3 hours the other night just trying to pick the four party looks I want to see from Celine in Cannes this year. Ultimately I put 6 looks in a collage and sent them to one friend and said “pick four and thats what I’m going to use!” Well she sent me her four and I changed one and here we are! Parties are not typically as impressive as the premieres, but with brands like Chopard, de Grisogono, Vanity Fair, and more throwing huge bashes during the Cannes Film Festival they are always fun to check in on. I can definitely expect that no matter what red carpet Celine steps onto this year that she will deliver something major each time she steps out. So I picked four looks that are *slightly* toned down from the premiere looks for her to bring to life. The first is the biggest risk of them all. I ADORE this silver Alberta Ferretti Fall 2019 RTW sequined ensemble which features a strapless peplum bustier with a plunging neckline and a pair of skin tight pants. It is definitely a risk, but to me Celine isn’t afraid to take one so that’s why I picked this major statement moment for her to bring to life this year. Pair it with a sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, red lips, silver Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ pumps, and statement Chopard Green Carpet Collection 2019 diamonds including chandelier earrings and a matching cuff bracelet to ensure that Celine would shut down one of the Chopard party red carpets. From uber sexy and dazzling to more of a feminine take on sexy dressing I would love to see Celine wearing this dusty lavender Atelier Versace Spring 2019 Couture long sleeve fully ruffled mini dress which features a plunging neckline and subtle crystal embellishments. I won’t lie I totally picked this dress for Celine because it matches a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2019 amethyst waterfall earrings that I am in love with. Now I am typically against head to toe in one color, but in this case I would style it with a sleek low bun, smokey eyes, those amazing Chopard earrings, and a pair of violet purple satin Gianvito Rossi crystal buckled embellished sandals. It would make for a major monochromatic moment for Celine. Now if you are wondering which of these looks is the one I overrode my friends choice on in favor of you need not look any further than this black and blue Jean Louis Sebaj Spring 2019 Couture asymmetrical gown which features a single sleeve draped with a cape, plunging neckline, a fitted silhouette, and a thigh high side split. I picked this in favor of a Saint Laurent mini dress with a dramatic neckline. I figured that two cocktail moments and two gown moments for Cannes parties was perfect. Now this is definitely a gown I believe we will see in Cannes this year I just hope it’s not on the back of some trashy supermodel and someone who will own the sexy of the gown, but also elevate it into a major high glam fashion moment. That is exactly what I think would happen if Celine wore this gown, especially if paired with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, light pink glossy lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas’ crystal trimmed suede sandals, and a statement Chopard diamond and sapphire drop pendant necklace. The final look I’ve chosen for Celine is another I wavered back and forth on. I didn’t want to pick the same label twice for this wish list, but every time I saw this red Zuhair Murad Fall 2019 RTW fully embroidered gown which features a plunging neckline, column silhouette, and feathered cuffs I got excited about the idea of Celine bringing it to life. So I broke my self imposed rule and went with the gown. It definitely evokes this 1940’s femme fatale glamour that we don’t often see Celine bring to life, but I just know that she has the chops to really bring a fun gown like this to life. Style it with a pair of red satin Chloe Gosselin ‘Narcissus’ ankle strap sandals, a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, and a pair of Chopard ruby, yellow sapphire, and diamond wreath earrings and I know that it would make for a major Cannes moment for Celine.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Monday May 13, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

Cannes 2019: L’Orealista’s Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

Including this list there are only two L’Orealista wishes left for the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, and the final one is just for a single L’Orealista. After that I have a few wishes for ‘Regulars’ and then it is full steam ahead into this years official selection followed by amfAR. I am super excited about this years edition because it seems like between the L’Orealista’s and the stars who have films screening that there are so many major red carpet moments waiting to happen. The ladies below include some of my favorite L’Orealista’s, some whom I am hoping will up their game, and some who are a little underrated. Up first is one of my always favorites: Araya A. Hargate. The Thai actress always embodies the idea of go big or go home. From her first Cannes where she wore Zac Posen to last year where she rocked Ashi Studio, Jean Paul Gaultier, Zuhair Murad, Ralph & Russo, and Giambattista Valli Couture. While most L’Orealista’s stay for just a day or two we can typically count on Araya staying for several days delivering moment after moment on this famed red carpet. While I could have picked a major look from every designer for Araya to wear in Cannes this year I decided to keep it to three different, yet equally dramatic, looks from some of her favorite labels. The first is a white Ashi Studio Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which features a strapless sheer pleated gown with intricate beaded embroidery and a feathered coat. Now this might be a little similar in style to a white feathered cape Ralph & Russo gown that Araya wore in 2017. While the feathers can be seen as incredibly similar I think that the vibe of the looks are completely different. The Ralph & Russo was incredibly structured and this Ashi Studio is breezy and more disco like. I would have her style this look with a high half up half down hairstyle, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of white Tabitha Simmons ‘Here She Comes’ crystal chandelier sandals, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond choker to make sure the disco vibe of this gown lives on. From disco to romance I would love to see Araya give us a new take on princess gowns this year opting for this baby pink Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 Couture high low gown which features dramatic ruffles along the square neckline and hem, puffy short sleeves, a full ball skirt, and a dramatic train. The look is definitely a risk because Araya comes across as very petite, but at 5’7″ she definitely has the height to pull off a look like this. I would still add a pair of rose pink satin Jimmy Choo ‘Santina’ crystal embellished platform sandals to give her just a little extra height in this gown. A sleek updo, defined eyes, bold pink lips, and a Chopard ‘The Garden of Kalahari’ collection diamond choker necklace would definitely put this look amongst some of Araya’s best Cannes moments ever. For my last wish for Araya to wear on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet I decided to stray away from picking another big princess moment. I wanted to give Araya a wide variety of styles to bring to life on the Cannes red carpet this year. So I picked this green and blue water inspired Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture mermaid gown which features an asymmetrical neckline, fitted bodice and hips, a crystal buckle belted waist, intricate beading, and a flared 3D floral hem and train. This is dramatically different than what we typically see Araya wearing in Cannes. She tends to go for big volume or more of a floaty silhouette. It would also be one of the bolder colors that Araya has worn as well. While it is out of her normal wheelhouse I definitely believe that she could sell it to me. I would finish this look with a pair of custom Casadei ‘Flora’ platform sandals in the brands ‘Ariel’ colored metallic suede, a sleek updo, defined eyes, bold pink lips, Chopard Red Carpet Collection peridot chandelier earrings, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection black opal, emerald, diamond, turquoise, and amethyst cuff bracelet to really compliment the mermaid vibes of this gown and ensure that Araya has a killer fashion run.  Ashley Benson made her Cannes Film Festival debut in 2017 and skipped last year. I am hoping that she attends this years festival, but I want to see an elevated version of Ashley’s style. She wore a chic off the rack Erdem gown in Cannes the last time she attended and this year I decided to go with major off the runway looks for her to wear this year. Up first is this black strapless Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu Fall 2019 Couture ball gown which features intricate texturing, embroidery, and embellishments. I tend to think that Nedo designs are tacky af, but there are some chic moments hiding in those collections and this gown is one of the good ones. It is dark, sexy, and romantic and that is what I think Ashley does best. This gown styled with a romantic updo, smokey eyes, a pair of black crystal embellished Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong Stardust’ sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and emerald chandelier earrings would be perfection for Ashley to deliver on the Cannes red carpet. Look number two for Ashley is a brand we don’t really see on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet: Pamella Roland. The New York based designer definitely knows how to sell drama and glamour and I definitely think that the label does fit the glamour of Cannes perfectly. I saw this deep purple Pamella Roland Fall 2019 RTW embellished off-the-shoulder tulle gown which features a bustier bodice, laser cut sequin flowers, fitted waistline, and a full a-line ball skirt and the idea of Ashley wearing this gown in Cannes immediately clicked! It is beautiful. A dark romantic moment and I think that it would be perfectly styled with a sleek updo, dark purple smokey eyes, soft rose pink lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas’ jewel embellished sandals, and a Chopard Red Carpet Collection amethyst, tanzanite, and diamond choker. The final look I’ve chosen for Ashley is the least moody. I went for strictly high glam picking this stone grey Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture think strap ballgown which features a rounded neckline, intricate beaded embellishments, and a full skirt with a sweeping train. It isn’t anything boundary pushing in terms of design, none of the looks I’ve picked for Ashley are, but I think that it fits her sense of style while also pushing her sense of red carpet dressing just enough for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Finishing this gown with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of silver metallic leather Jimmy Choo ‘Minny’ sandals, and a simple yet glamorous Chopard Red Carpet Collection three strand diamond necklace would definitely ensure that Ashley oozes glamour on this red carpet. I know a lot of you have been waiting for my wishes for Deepika Padukone and here we go. The Bollywood beauty is slated to take her place on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for the third time this year. Her first year she kinda faded into the background, but last year she definitely didn’t play second fiddle to anyone. She might have been third in my Best of Cannes list, but Deepika made second in my Best Dressed of 2018 list thanks to the major hot pink Ashi Studio Couture gown that she wore last year. That has me really excited to see what she will wear on the red carpet at this years festival. I have read that at least one of her red carpet turns this year will come courtesy of Dundas. So I went to the brands runways and lookbooks searching for the perfect look for Deepika to wear this year, but wasn’t thrilled with anything as an option for a premiere. So I sent a message to Evita saying I needed a custom Dundas gown for Deepika to wear this year. I wanted a strapless black velvet mermaid gown with a dramatic train and intricate Indian crystal beaded embroidery and that is exactly what she delivered for me. The embellishments came off a Dundas Fall 2018 RTW velvet cape. I could actually see Deepika wearing the cape over the gown if she wanted, but honestly with the lighter and breezier air of the Cannes Film Festival I think that the strapless velvet gown is heavy enough. I would finish this look with a loose romantic updo, smokey eyes, burgundy glossy lips, a pair of black and gold Jimmy Choo ‘Lilah’ strappy platform sandals, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including a rubellitte, black pearl, and diamond necklace and a ruby and diamond lattice cuff bracelet. The second look pays homage to Deepika’s Indian roots as it is a modern take on traditional Indian dressing from Indian designer Gaurav Gupta. I saw this silver two piece gown which features an intricately beaded and pleated bodice and a dramatic ruffled a-line skirt and was left breathless. It is beautiful and dramatic and I definitely think that it would be an absolutely major look for Deepika to wear in Cannes this year. I would also keep this look as a love letter to India selecting jewels from Mumbai based handmade jewelry label Jaipur Jewels including a pair of diamond rose shaped stud earrings and a dazzling diamond wreath necklace to add sparkle to this ensemble. A sleek high bun, silvery smokey eyes, bold red lips, the scarf shawl, and a pair of silver Rene Caovilla ‘Cleo’ crystal embellished coil sandals would all make this an absolutely major moment. The final look I’ve chosen for Deepika is definitely the most dramatic. I saw this red Michael Cinco Fall 2018 Couture off the shoulder feathered ball gown and fell in love with it immediately. I did for a quick second question if it wasn’t too similar to last years Ashi Studio gown, but ultimately decided that since this is a full length gown and the fact that it is red not pink that the looks are different enough for Deepika to wear this Michael Cinco creation on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals this year. This is definitely a major fashion moment, but Deepika has proven that she has the chops to really push through a lot of drama and wear a gown on the red carpet and not let it wear her. I would finish this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red Giuseppe Zanotti ankle wrap peep toe platform sandals, Chopard Red Carpet Collection citrine and ruby drop earrings, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection ruby, rubellitte, and citrine cuff watch bracelet to finish another major moment for Deepika to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Hailey Baldwin-Beiber has been a friend of L’Oreal for about two years now, but I don’t think she is actually considered a L’Orealista. That being said she has been a regular in Cannes so I am taking this opportunity to pick some looks I would love to see the newly married model bring to life on the famed French red carpet. In years past Hailey has worn labels like Twin-Set, Ralph & Russo, Elie Saab, and Roberto Cavalli Couture on the red carpets of the festival. I picked three looks from labels that Hailey brings to the red carpet and three looks I believe that she would definitely be drawn to. The first is a custom Alexandre Vauthier burgundy red velvet sleeveless draped gown which features a plunging halter neckline, thin belted waist with a crystal buckle, an open low back, and a long train which was inspired by the fall iteration of a draped long sleeve column gown that has become a Vauthier classic. I think that this sleeveless gown is perfect for Hailey to bring to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. It is a little bit of a departure from her normally overtly sexy looks, but Cannes is definitely a place to step out of ones comfort zone and push boundaries, and while this look isn’t considered boundary pushing by a long shot I think it is perfect for Hailey and with old Hollywood waves worn over shoulders, defined eyes, matching burgundy red lips, a pair of dark red Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ PVC trimmed mirrored leather sandals, and a selection of de Grisogono jewels including a pair of ruby and black diamond pendant drop earrings and a statement ruby, black and white diamond cocktail ring I know she would deliver it in such a glamorous manner. From one glamorous gown to another. I was looking for super chic gowns for Hailey to wear in Cannes and I saw this ivory Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture column draped gown which features an asymmetrical feathered strapless neckline, intricate pink floral embroidery, a thigh high split, and a pleated chiffon train and definitely think that it would make a glamorous, yet sexy, statement for her to wear on this years Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Finishing the look with a sleek “I Dream of Jeannie” high ponytail, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of gold Tom Ford crystal chain embellished sandals, and rose gold set de Grisogono ‘India’ pink opal and diamond drop earrings would add a modern twist to this classically glamorous gown. The final look I’ve picked for Hailey is more in tune with her typical style. She loves a very sexy fashion moment on the red carpet and I definitely can see her being drawn to this beautiful cotton candy pink Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture one shoulder fully crystal beaded gown which features a slashed detail on the bodice, a belted waist, and a thigh high split. This sexy and glamorous gown is definitely right in Hailey’s wheelhouse and I think with a romantic updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a pair of soft pink Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Janell’ rhinestone ankle cuff sandals, and pink rubellitte and diamond de Grisogono tassel earrings I think that Hailey would deliver some absolutely glamorous moments on the Cannes red carpets. Lara Stone is one of the supermodel L’Orealista’s whom I really want to love, but often I feel like she falls flat. On that note I will say that Lara wore my favorite looks of hers ever in Cannes two years ago when she wore a dramatic black Balmain feathered mermaid gown. Shes doesn’t often pick really dramatic gowns for Cannes, but I definitely think that she should. So the first look I’ve picked is a red draped satin Balenciaga Spring 2019 RTW asymmetrical gown which features long ruched sleeves, an origami folded bodice, and an asymmetrical midi length column skirt draped into a sweeping train to help push Lara out of her boundaries. I decided to use the photo of this gown on the Bergdorf Goodman website instead of the runway photo because I think it gives a better demonstration of what the gown would look like on a red carpet. I had actually saved this look in my cocktail folder of runway images because the runway images definitely gave this look more of a cocktail vibe, when in fact its this absolutely amazing gown. A sleek low bun, thick defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of red Gianvito Rossi ‘G-String’ sandals, and Cartier diamond and ruby cluster earrings all would definitely ensure that Lara kicks off her time in Cannes in high style. The next look I have for Lara to wear in Cannes this year is a custom white sequined strapless Balmain column gown which features a dramatic train and a silver beaded belted waist. The belt came direct from the Balmain Spring 2019 Couture collection and the sleek and glamorous design of the gown would definitely make this a sleek and glamorous modern moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet especially if paired with sleek center parted hair, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of white Gianvito Rossi PVC strap ‘Portofino’ sandals, and a selection of Cartier diamonds including wreath earrings and an art deco cuff bracelet. The final look I’ve picked for Lara is a look I am shocked didn’t get worn at some point during the last year with this black Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve gown which features a plunging neckline and pleated ikat print panels on the column skirt. I love this gown and I definitely think that Lara could easily sell this gown to me, especially on a Cannes red carpet. Add a sleek low bun, defined eyes, red lips, a custom black satin Givenchy box clutch, a pair of black Givenchy strappy leather sandals, a pair of Cartier diamond and sapphire small drop earrings, and a dazzling Cartier diamond collar necklace and I know that Lara would definitely shut down the Cannes red carpet in this gown. Finishing out this list is one of my favorite red carpet models: Soo Joo Park. The South Korean model knows how to deliver edge, glamour, drama, and femininity on the red carpet. While I personally love her and her style I think that she is incredibly underrated. I want her to deliver some major moments on this years Cannes Film Festival red carpet starting with this black Chanel Spring 2019 Couture short cocktail ensemble. Soo Joo was one of Karl Lagerfeld’s many muses and I would be shocked if she doesn’t wear one of his designs during Cannes this year and I definitely think that while Cannes usually calls for a gown that this cocktail moment paired with a sleek center parted low bun, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Maharaja’ feather and crystal embellished satin sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and emerald fringe earrings. Soo Joo loves herself a good Iris Van Herpen design on the red carpet and I would love to see her bring the avant garde couturier to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year with this nude one shoulder asymmetrically draped layered from the designers Spring 2019 Couture collection which features a thigh high split. The gown would match Soo Joo’s skin tone perfectly and make it like she is wearing a edgy second skin. I would let that be the total vibe for the look styling this gown with a sleek high pony tail, defined eyes, nude lips, nude Aquazzura ‘Magic’ suede and PVC lace up sandals. The only pop of color I would add to this look would be courtesy of a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection black opal and multicolored precious stone drop earrings. The final look I’ve picked for Soo Joo to wear is from another of the brands whom she is quite close to with this nude and purple Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2019 Couture long sleeve column gown which features intricate crystal embellishments. This is actually Gaultier reissuing a style he made famous in his Fall 1995 RTW collection and have recently made a return thanks to a certain Kardashian. Now we very well could see this gown snatched up for the Met Gala tonight, but I would love to see it saved for Soo Joo to wear in Cannes while it perfectly fits this year ‘Camp’ Met Gala theme it would be a perfectly unexpected (yet still appropriate) moment for her to deliver on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. Pair this gown with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of silver Jimmy Choo ‘Shiloh’ crystal embellished sandals, and Chopard diamond and amethyst earrings and Soo Joo would shut down the 2019 Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Monday May 13, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

Cannes 2019: L’Orealista’s Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

We are inching closer to my wishes for the actual premieres that are slated to take place during the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. Before I jump into those wishes I do have several more wishes though for ladies who are expected to head to the French Riviera to promote different brands, and the ladies who I’m most excited to see on this years red carpet are definitely the L’Orealista’s. They always bring the drama and glamour, which is their job, to the Cannes red carpet. I just hope that L’Oreal decides to sprinkle their strongest talent among some of the red carpets with less a-list level power to really up the drama of those premieres. I also hope that unlike most years that L’Oreal doesn’t front load all of their red carpet heavy hitters to the front end of the festival. The Cannes Film Festival can get a little heavy on models walking the red carpet. I have been known to get model fatigue towards the middle of the festival. But Cindy Bruna knows how to get me excited to see another model on the red carpet. She has given us such a varried sense of style from designers including Georges Hobeika, Zac Posen, Ulyana Sergeenko, Zuhair Murad Giambattista Valli, and Ashi Studio. Each of her previous looks have been incredibly different from the previous one and I am really excited to see what she might bring to the red carpet at this years festival. I went shopping the runways, and virtual racks, to find three perfect looks for Cindy to bring to life this year. I went back to three labels that Cindy has already worn for past Cannes red carpets to dress her for this years events. The first is a blush pink Georges Hobeika Spring 2019 Couture draped goddess gown which features a thigh high split. It is definitely a very chic and glamorous look. We haven’t seen Cindy wearing this type of goddess gown on Cindy before, but I think that it would be an incredibly glamorous moment for her to wear for the Cannes Film Festival. A sleek updo, defined eyes, blush pink lips, a pair of iridescent pearl pink Rene Caovilla crystal embellished stiletto sandals, and a selection of de Grisogono jewels including pink sapphire and diamond floral ear clips and a pink sapphire and amethyst fan bangle would definitely make it an absolutely beautiful moment for Cindy to bring to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. For look number two I went with a classic Zac Posen shape in an amazing fabrication with this strapless gold butterfly jacquard ball gown which features a sweetheart neckline, self tied sash at the waist, origami pleating, and a sweeping train. I feel like Cindy fits the Zac Posen look perfectly and while Zac isn’t the typical Cannes designer when someone wears one of his designs on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals something special happens. I feel like Cindy would be the epitome of glamour rocking this gown with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, burgundy lips, a pair of gold Gianvito Rossi crystal embellished sandals, and a white and champagne diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection fringe collar necklace. The final look I’ve picked for Cindy is probably my favorite. I love when Cindy gives us bold color and that is exactly what is being delivered with this aquamarine Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture one sleeve ball gown which features sheer construction, intricate beaded embellishments, and a dramatic tulle ball skirt and train. This gown is dramatic and I know that Cindy would shut down the Cannes red carpet in this bold, fun, and glamorous gown especially if paired with a romantic updo, defined eyes, bold pink lips, a pair of silver crystal embellished Aquazzura ‘Studio’ sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection paraiba tourmaline, emerald, and diamond cluster earrings. Freida Pinto used to be a regular on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet wearing looks from Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Atelier Versace, and Gucci. She hasn’t been on the famed red carpeted steps since 2015 and I am hoping she will make her red carpet return this year. She has been making more appearances at major events like the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and the Tribeca Film Festival so I am hoping that she will make the journey to Cannes. I definitely picked three really chic looks for her to wear for her return to Cannes. Up first is an antique gold Christian Dior Spring 2019 Couture embroidered a-line gown which features a black tulle overlay and a sash tied waist. This look came from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s second presentation of the collection in Dubai where she added some of the best looks of the season. This simple and bohemian take on glamour is exactly what we expect from a Dior moment on the red carpet anymore, but done in a truly amazing way. I think that with a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, dark red lips, a black Edie Parker ‘Jean’ croc embossed box clutch, black Gianvito Rossi patent and plexi sandals, and Chopard yellow diamond chandelier earrings that it would be perfect for Freida to wear in Cannes. Now while the Dior is glamorous and all I want to see a lot of light and bright colors in Cannes this year. So the other two looks I’ve picked for Freida to wear in Cannes this year are full of color. The first of those colorful looks is this flamingo pink Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture flowing gown which features a strapless 3D floral feather embellished bustier bodice and a flowing skirt with a thigh high split. I can just picture this color being absolutely beautiful against Freida skin tone. Now I go back and forth on using the cape for Freida. On one hand it adds breezy drama to the look, but on the other chiffon capes often fall flat for me if they are tied at the neck and not attached to the gown itself. If they wanted to keep the length that the cape adds I think adding it to the skirt at the back under the floral details could work. I would finish this look with a sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, dark rose red lips, a pair of pink strappy Gucci crystal embellished sandals, and chic Chopard pink rubellitte, white quartz, pink sapphire, and diamond drop earrings to keep the feminine glamour of this look alive. The final look I’ve picked for Freida is one that I’ve designed. I was looking at the Prada Fall 2019 RTW trunkshow on Moda Operandi and I saw a Tiffany blue satin high waisted floral hip corsage pleated midi skirt and I thought it would be a great jumping point for a custom gown. Then I just had to think of a perfect bodice. I wanted a touch of sparkle and then I remembered a teal and aquamarine Prada crystal embellished box clutch from Fall 2014 collection and the idea just clicked. So I had Evita create this custom column gown which features a strapless half moon bustier and that high waisted column skirt for Freida to wear in Cannes. Freida has rocked a custom Prada look or two in her time on the red carpet and I definitely think that Prada is perfect designer for her to wear in Cannes this year. I think with old Hollywood waves, smokey eyes, light pink lips, the actual Prada crystal embellished clutch that inspired the bodice, a pair of light blue Prada translucent PVC sandals, and a selection of Chopard jewels including asscher cut diamond chandelier earrings and a paraiba tourmaline and diamond cocktail ring that Freida would definitely bring nothing but glamour to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Julianne Moore has been on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in her duties as a L’Orealista at the opening ceremony and second day of the festival for the last six years. Will she do so again this year? My bet is yes. I am always excited to see what Julianne wears in Cannes. She has made my Best Dressed of the Year list in 2015 thanks to her custom black feathered Armani Prive moment and looks from the last 3 years of the festival have been in my final round of consideration for Best Dressed of the Year, though they ultimately didn’t make the cut. I want to see Julianne deliver many major looks this year starting with a custom Celine gown. I cannot take credit for the idea for this black and gold art deco column gown which features an intricately embroidered bustier with a peak neckline and a fully beaded column skirt. I told Evita I wanted custom Celine and she went through the collections, searched for vintage, and created this gown. The moment I saw it I fell in love and I definitely feel like this is something that Heidi Slimane would create for a custom red carpet moment for someone like Julianne. Now it doesn’t have a big skirt or a long train, but I still think that it is the perfect look for Julianne to bring to life on this red carpet. It oozes old Hollywood glamour, but in a sexy and modern way. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark red lips, a pair of black Celine ‘Sharp’ strappy patent leather sandals, and gold set yellow diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection teardrop chandelier earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. For the last four years Julianne has worn a Givenchy Couture creation for the opening of the Cannes Film Festival. Given the fact that she just feted Givenchy creative director Clare Waight Keller at the Time 100 Gala last month I would imagine that the partnership will continue again this year. It has been that Givenchy gown the last 3 years that has made my Best of Cannes list and has stayed in my mind for the Best Dressed of the Year list. That gown Julianne has worn from Givenchy the last several years has been custom designed for her, but instead of designing a custom gown for her to wear this year I fell in love with this silver Givenchy Spring 2019 Couture cap sleeve gown which features intricate beading and a fit to flare silhouette off the brands latest couture runway. I love this gown and honestly and surprised it wasn’t picked for Oscar night, but maybe it is because Julianne’s stylist Leslie Fremar had already called Givenchy and put it on hold for Cannes. It has this modern glamour that I know Julianne would deliver with effortless ease on the red carpet especially if paired with a sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, silver mirrored leather Givenchy strappy slingback sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection ‘Magical Setting’ white diamond drop earrings. The final look I’ve picked for Julianne is the one I am most excited about. Aside from Givenchy a custom Louis Vuitton gown is a safe bet for Julianne to bring to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I was thinking about what I wanted and was looking at details from the collections and other custom LV gowns me and Evita have dreamed ups and I came up with this emerald green fully beaded gown which features long sleeves, a plunging cowl neckline, an exposed velvet bustier inspired by the Louis Vuitton Fall 2019 RTW collection, and a column skirt with a small train. I love when Julianne, or pretty much any red head, wears green. The color against Julianne’s milky pink skin and her red hair would just POP. The gown should be the main focus of the look so I wanted to keep the styling relatively simple with a sleek side parted low ponytail, emerald green Gianvito Rossi ankle wrap knotted sandals, and a pair of statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection emerald and diamond drop earrings to definitely ensure that Julianne delivers another absolutely major fashion moment on this red carpet. I have been waiting to put Liya Kebede in a wish list because I got super busy the day I was going to post her and I just didn’t have time to write a paragraph on my choices for her. But that being said I LOVE what Liya brings to the red carpet. She doesn’t stick to the go big or go home mentality of Cannes, in fact more often than not her looks on the famed red carpet are actually cocktail mini or midi length instead of a floor length gown all together. She brings this effortless modern glamour to the red carpet and it is always a welcome change of pace when everyone is typically wearing voluminous ballgowns and multitude of yardage. So I have three very different looks for Liya to wear in Cannes this year starting with this sleek black sequined one sleeve draped Elie Saab Fall 2019 Couture gown which features a sash train draped from the shoulder and a thigh high split. The fact that this is an actual gown is already pretty much a departure for Liya and the sequins definitely make it even more of a stretch, but I think she would rock this gown, but in a very different way than someone like Hailee Steinfeld or Jennifer Lopez who I know would eye this gown. She would keep everything in regards to the styling relatively simple adding a sleek center parted low ponytail, defined eyes, matte nude lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Minimalist’ PVC detail strappy sandals, and adding some sparkle via a pair of simple Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and emerald drop earrings to really make this look fit Liya’s sense of style. Now for look two I went with an easy look I definitely think that Liya would shut the red carpet down wearing. I was looking at Saint Laurent for a mini dress for Liya, but when I saw this white loose fit tuxedo with a black cummerbund and strong shoulders I fell in love with the idea of her rocking it for Cannes. It isn’t very often we see a woman wearing a tuxedo on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, but of all the L’Orealista’s I think that Liya is the one who could really sell one to us on this red carpet. I wouldn’t button the jacket or add a shirt to this look letting Liya use her model chops to bring this sexy yet masculine look to life. I would want to see her style this suit with a sleek center parted hairstyle, smokey eyes, glossy dark red lips, a pair of black Saint Laurent pointed toe pumps with crystal spheres studded down the heel, and a statement Chopard ‘The Garden of Kalahari’ diamond drop pendant collar necklace to really make this look the perfect meshing of modern and 70’s and femininity and masculinity. The final look I’ve picked for Liya is the only label I think is a lock that she would wear in Cannes this year. Liya is a muse to Pierpaolo Piccioli and so when I saw this drop waist floral midi gown from the Valentino Spring 2019 Couture collection which features bell cuffed long sleeves, and an a-line skirt I knew that it would be the perfect look for Liya to deliver the moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. A sleek low bun, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a gold velvet Roger Vivier ‘Club Chain’ clutch, and a pair of gold metallic leather Aquazzura ‘Purist’ sandals would allow for the dress to be the main focus of the look since the femininity of the dress is out of Liya’s typical style. Each look, while vastly different, would definitely ensure that Liya delivers her special brand of glamour. Finishing out today is Thai actress and model Praya Lundberg. I think that Praya is one of the most underrated L’Orealista’s. She typically delivers one big ballgown (from designers Rami Kadi and Michael Cinco in the past) and one sexy dress (historically by Julien Macdonald) in her time on the red carpet at the festival. I personally prefer her more dramatic ballgowns as they make a statement compared to seeing the same Julien Macdonald styles we see all the time. I actually decided not to pick a Julien Macdonald look for Praya for that exact reason. Instead the sleeker and sexier look I’ve picked for her to wear during her time in Cannes this years is this turquoise Elie Saab Spring 2019 RTW one sleeve sequined midi gown which features a sheath silhouette, bow detail on the hip, a wrap style skirt, and a thigh high split. I loved this dress as soon as I saw it and I am sad that it hasn’t been worn. Now given the fact that it is the season currently in stores makes the chances of seeing this gown on a red carpet very unlikely, but I think that Praya would deliver this gown in an incredibly chic manner on the Cannes red carpet especially if she pairs it with a sleek center parted hair tucked behind her ears, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of silver studded Christian Louboutin ‘Jamais Azzez’ PVC t-strap sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection amethyst and multicolor tourmaline drop earrings. Look two comes from the same designer that Praya wore last year, Michael Cinco. I have a feeling that L’Orealista’s are going to be drawn to the Dubai based couture line this year as he has garnered a lot of press and praise from stars wearing his designs in Cannes the last two years. He is always about the drama and that is exactly what is delivered in this red one shoulder gown from the Michael Cinco Fall 2018 Couture collection which features a feathered pouf on the shoulders, intricate crystal embellishment on the wist, a column skirt with a thigh high split, and a ball skirt with a dramatic train layered over it. Typically Araya sticks to dark colors or metallics, so this look would be a step into the world of bold color for Araya and I definitely think that she would shut the red carpet down wearing this bold design. Add a sleek updo, bold defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of red Rene Caovilla crystal embellished strappy sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and ruby chandelier earrings would definitely continue to make sure Araya owns the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. The final look I’ve chosen for Praya is the one that I knew the moment I saw it that I wanted to pick for Praya to wear in Cannes. 14 weeks ago when I posted my Rami Kadi Spring 2019 Couture collection red carpet wishes on my Instagram story I picked this gown for Praya and since it hasn’t yet been worn I am really excited to hopefully see her wearing this strapless 3D tinsel embellished ballgown. I definitely think that this gown is a major statement that there are only a few who could really sell it to me, and given her history of loving big gowns I really do believe that Praya is one of the few who could. A sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver Jimmy Choo ‘Fawne’ crisscross platform sandals, and simple Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond cluster earrings would allow this gown to be a major fashion moment for Praya to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Monday May 13, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

Cannes 2019: L’Orealista’s Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

We are getting close to the close of my L’Orealista wishes for this years Cannes Film Festival. The L’Orealista duties include looking beautiful and promoting glamour on the red carpet at the festival. They are there to promote the beauty brand and I get excited every time I see them. Given all the major fashion moments that have appeared on runways and lookbooks I am super excited about what the potential for major red carpet moments are! Amber Heard made her L’Orealsita debut in Cannes last year where she went dark princess in Valentino RTW and fashion risk-taker in a Giambattista Valli Couture mini dress for her two turns on those famed red carpeted steps. I honestly wasn’t expecting either look. She was working with stylist Karla Welch last year, but she just started working with Jennifer Lopez and Hailee Steinfeld stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn with the look she wore for her Tribeca Film Festival premiere. I definitely believe that Rob & Mariel could really deliver amazing looks for the Cannes Film Festival red carpet to make sure that Amber delivers major moments on this red carpet. I haven’t fallen in love with anything Amber has worn in the last several months so I am hoping that she delivers major moments in Cannes. Since Amber did take the short dress risk last year (a gown is typically considered a ‘requirement’ for the Cannes red carpet) I decided I wanted to pick a major look for her to deliver that doesn’t fit into the ‘required’ box. So I turned to this uber sleek, sexy, and glamorous Armani Prive Spring 2019 Couture strapless jumpsuit which features a major plunging neckline, skinny pants, and a flared cuff on the pant. It is super sexy but incredibly glamorous and I definitely think that it is something Amber could easily shut down on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. It would be perfectly styled with a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black lace Christian Louboutin ‘Mariee A Colmar’ peep toe slingback booties, and a selection of black and white diamond de Grisogono jewels including ‘Ventaglio’ drop earrings and the ‘Gocce’ cocktail ring. As I was planning my custom looks for this years Cannes Film Festival I initially had a custom Atelier Versace as my initial option, but when Evita asked me what I was thinking and I was looking at inspiration for this look I saw this magenta and blush Atelier Versace Spring 2019 Couture ruffled ballgown which features a strappy low back, plunging neckline, a mini skirt under the ball skirt, and a dramatic train and I knew it was perfect for Amber to bring to life on this red carpet. It is definitely a Cannes moment and I believe that Amber has the effortless sex appeal to make it a beautiful moment especially if styled with a romantic updo, defined eyes, matching magenta lips, blush pink Jimmy Choo ‘Sereno’ crystal buckle sandals, and pink rubellite and diamond de Grisogono disc earrings. The final look I’ve picked for Amber is that major old Hollywood glam moment via this dark emerald green velvet Galia Lahav Fall 2019 Couture draped wrap style gown which features puffy mid-length sleeves, a plunging v-neck, thigh high split, and a dramatic train. This look needs old Hollywood waves, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of dark green glitter Saint Laurent ‘Amber’ sandals, and a major set of de Grisogono emerald and diamond jewels including a statement collar necklace, matching earrings, and a matching cocktail ring. It all would ensure that Amber has an amazing Cannes fashion run. Camila Cabello was announced as a L’Orealista last year, but due to her tour schedule with Taylor Swift last year is was unable to attend the Cannes Film Festival. So I am really excited to hope that she will jet to the south of France for her first turn at the festival. Camila isn’t exactly my favorite star when it comes to style. She tends to pick looks that remind me of what a 15 year old girl would wear for her quinceanera. About a year ago Camila swapped stylists and started working with Karla Welch and her style has gotten marginally better, but it definitely still has a lot of room for improvement. I decided to pick three looks that I definitely think that Camila would be drawn to, but that I think would elevate her style to the perfect Cannes worthy wardrobe. Up first is a gown you have seen several times on this blog if you are a regular reader. This black Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture strapless ballgown which features a velvet bustier, hot pink netting ruffle on the waist, and a full ostrich feather covered ball skirt has been one of my favorite Armani Prive looks since it first came down the runway last July. I do have a feeling that it will be optioned for Monday’s Met Gala, but if not I definitely think it wold be a perfect look for Camila to wear for her Cannes debut. It is fun, dramatic, and flirty moment that I think Camila could deliver on the Cannes red carpet especially if paired with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, blush pink lips, black satin ribbon ankle strap Christian Louboutin ‘Sandale Du Desert’ sandals, and a pair of statement ruby, pink sapphire, and black diamond Wendy Yue floral scroll drop earrings. I kept the glamour going for Camila to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet picking this bold red silk Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture ballgown which features thick straps, a thigh high split, and a sweeping train. This is another gown I am shocked hasn’t been worn yet, but I think is perfect for Camila to deliver on the Cannes red carpet. This gown is a major old Hollywood glamour moment and I think that is what Camila needs to really make me take note of her style. Old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red and pink satin Jimmy Choo ‘Lalia’ knotted sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and ruby chandelier earrings to really make this look perfect for Camila in Cannes. The final look I’ve picked for Camila is much more easy and breezy with this turquoise water print Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture goddess style gown. This gown which features plunging neckline, thigh high split, cape sleeves, and a flowing skirt is very in vibe with the breezy glamour of Cannes and I feel like it is a great look for Camila to finish out her Cannes journey especially if paired with a romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, silver Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass PVC’ pointed toe pumps, and a pair of major white diamond and emerald Lorraine Schwartz drop earrings. When it comes to style I got back and forth on my feelings about Emily Ratajkowski. She is either really good or really band, and she has delivered both on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in the past. If we see Emily head to Cannes for this years festival I am definitely hoping that she delivers nothing but amazing top notch moments. Sexy, glamorous, and effortless. Those are what come to mind when I think of Emily’s style when she delivers major moments on the red carpet. So starting off I picked a super sexy and glamorous red custom Atelier Versace strapless column gown which features a plunging sweetheart neckline, all over intricate beaded embroidery, and a long train. I definitely love this gown which was inspired by a vintage Atelier Versace bralet from the 1990’s. It evokes that classic Versace style, but in a very modern and glamorous way. A sleek high ponytail, winged eyes, red lips, red Aquazzura ‘Swing’ PVC trimmed patent leather slingback sandals, and a chic ruby and diamond Bulgari necklace would finish this look beautifully. Emily helped debut Peter Dundas eponymous line at the Cannes Film Festival back in 2017. Unfortunately that look wasn’t well received and ended up on my Worst Dressed of 2017 list. It was just wayyyyyyyyy too much. I decided to turn back to the label to create a custom look for Emily to wear this year using a black Dundas embroidered lace up top from the Fall 2018 collection as the starting point for the look. In this image you cant really see all the intricate embroidery and mirrored embellishment on the bodice in this photo but it gives this very bohemian gothic vibe. I decided to add glamour to the look pairing it with a crystal embellished mini tiered ruffle ball skirt with a dramatic train. I updated the bodice to have the a little thicker of strap than the thin spaghetti straps that the original bustier had to really make it chic. I think that pairing this gown with a romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Milos’ PVC detail strappy cage sandals, and a statement emerald, amethyst, turquoise, and pavé diamond Bulgari ‘Roaring 80’s’ collar necklace would make this look perfection. The final look I’ve chosen for Emily is an absolutely uber glam Jean Louis Sebaj Spring 2019 Couture strapless gown which features a pink lame column skirt and a black velvet train attached from the asymmetrical bodice. This isn’t a typical look that I would think of when it comes to EmRata’s style, but I absolutely believe that she has the effortless glamour to really make this such a chic moment on the red carpet. Pair it with black Aquazzura ‘Purist’ sandals, a romantic updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, and a statement Bulgari diamond collar necklace to ensure that all of Emily’s Cannes moments are incredibly major and glamorous. Jennifer Lopez has been connected with L’Oreal for a long time, but she has never really done a full Cannes. Despite that fact every year I have picked wishes for her to wear on the red carpet at the festival. I want to see Jennifer finally jet to the south of France for Cannes because I know that she would totally own the red carpet at the festival. I’ve picked three very different looks for Jennifer to wear if she does rock her first Cannes this year. First is the princess moment thanks to this nude Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture strapless ballgown which features a fan ruffled neckline, intricate beaded embroidery, and a sweeping train. I know that Jennifer loves a princess moment here and there, and I definitely think that she would deliver this moment in a very chic and glamorous way. A sleek high bun, smokey eyes, nude glossy lips, a pair of tan satin Christian Louboutin ‘Nosy’ embellished t-strap pointed toe pumps, and vintage gold set Harry Winston diamond cluster earrings all would make this a major princess moment to bring to life in Cannes. The second look I’ve picked for Jennifer is much more of a fashion moment. As soon I saw this eggshell feathered caped top  and florescent orange high waisted wide leg pants from Valentino’s Spring 2019 Couture collection while watching the show on livestream I fell in love with it. This look is the perfect meshing of a vintage inspired vibe, but in a modern manner. It has the potential to be that super star style moment and if anyone can deliver that on a red carpet it is JLo. The look itself is such a statement that I would just add a sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, an orange Edie Parker ‘Jean’ marbled acrylic clutch, a pair of florescent orange Casadei ‘Blade Fluo’ pointed toe stiletto pumps, and Harry Winston jewels including a pair of large diamond ear clips and a diamond wreath bracelet to finish it off perfectly for a Cannes red carpet. The final look is the most typical JLo moment out of all these looks. This Caribbean blue Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture strapless column gown which features an asymmetrical ruffle on the hip, a belted waist, and thigh high split is something that I can see Jennifer rocking on just about any red carpet she would walk. It fits the glamour of Cannes, but in more of a simplistic manner than the other two looks (a maximalist simplicity) and would be made head to toe perfection with old Hollywood waves, smokey eyes, bright pink lips, a silver crystal embellished Christian Louboutin ‘Palme’ clutch, and a pair of silver studded Christian Louboutin ‘Jamais Azzez’ PVC t-strap sandals, and Harry Winston diamond waterfall earrings. Finishing out today are three voluminous moments for Spanish actress Paz Vega to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. There was a time a few years back when I would think of Paz in Cannes and get super excited. She even topped my Best Dressed of the Year list one year with an amazing feathered Stephane Rolland Couture gown. Unfortunately the last 2 years of style choices Paz has delivered have been less than exciting. A lot of hit has to do with her terrible hairstyle. I am hoping that changes, or the styling at least changes, if we see her jet off to the French Riviera for the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. Since I know what potential that Paz has to deliver major moments it was rather easy to choose looks for her to bring to life on the red carpet. I started with one of my favorite looks from the Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture collection with this ombre purple off the shoulder tulle ball gown which features a sheer long sleeves, a sweetheart neckline under the sheer overlay, a velvet waistband, and 3D crystal embellished floral appliques for Paz. For this collection Mr. Saab drew inspiration from Barcelona and to me when I was thinking of what to pick from the label for Paz to wear in Cannes this gown just made sense. Pair it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lip, rose pink glitter Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ sandals, and Chopard amethyst waterfall earrings. The second look I’ve picked for Paz is one that just walked the runway during Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week. I was on Instagram and I saw this navy blue Pronovias Atelier ‘Voyager’ gown and I fell in love. I was really getting into the go big or go home mentality of Cannes when I saw this gown and knew immediately that I had to pull it for Paz. I cannot recall her ever wearing a Pronovias design on the red carpet, but what better gown would it be to give her that first moment with the brand? This ruffled ballgown is definitely a statement I would keep the styling rather simple with a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of navy satin Rene Caovilla pointed toe pumps, and Chopard diamond and sapphire drop earrings. I couldn’t pick looks for Paz to wear on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet and not pick a single look from Stephane Rolland. The designer is one of my favorites when it comes to avant garde designs, but for Paz I decided to go with more of a classic look picking this tan Stephane Rolland Spring 2019 Couture gown which features a silk draped bodice with a plunging neckline and a tulle ball skirt. I will say that I went back and forth on whether Paz could actually sell this gown to me, but ultimately I think that she has the effortless presence to make it work. It will just the the right styling. I think a bohemian updo, smokey eyes, nude glossy lips, a pair of champagne crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Lane’ sandals, and Chopard Green Carpet Collection fair-mined gold wreath earrings that this would be an incredibly chic moment for Paz to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Monday May 13, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

Cannes 2019: L’Orealista’s Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

I was supposed to have this list ready yesterday, but when I came home Tuesday night I decided that I needed sleep more than I needed to write. So instead of posting on schedule I’m a little behind. So I won’t be doing a long intro paragraph today. Cannes is one of my favorite times of the year and a big part of that is the L’Orealista’s. They always bring the glamour, which is their main job at the festival, and I am just praying for major moment from them this year too. Alexina Graham just earned her wings as a Victoria’s Secret model (along with fellow L’Orealista Barbara Palvin) and I am really hoping this means that her red carpet profile is going to rise. Alexina has a look, face wise, that I love and I definitely think that she has potential to really wow on the red carpet. I first took note of Alexina when she attended the 2017 amfAR Cannes Gala with Olivier Rousting wearing a custom Balmain gown following the announcement of the Balmain x L’Oreal collaboration. She has walked in a few Balmain shows and I definitely want to see her bring a custom gown from the brand to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year. I decided to go with more of a classic look, with a hit of modern drama, opting to take the silver sequined waist from a tweed mini dress I found on Matches Fashion and turn it into a dramatic silk strapless mermaid gown with a long train. Cannes is all about glamour and drama and this gown delivers that idea perfectly. Pair it with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Tchicaboum’ spike studded pointed toe pumps, and a single Messika ‘Calypso Mono’ diamond ear cuff would finish this look perfectly. I also decided to go for a look we haven’t yet seen from Alexina on the red carpet picking this nude tulle Christian Dior Fall 2018 Couture princess moment ball gown. I feel like if any red carpet is perfect for a supermodels first major princess moment on the red carpet it is Cannes and what better label to do it in that Dior? I might be over seeing the same nude tulle gowns designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior, but if we have to see it on the red carpet then I think that a supermodel giving a lesson on how to deliver a moment is perfect for the label. I would love to see Alexina style this gown with a romantic updo, soft smokey eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of light gold studded Christian Louboutin ‘Spikoo’ transparent PVC pointed toe pumps, and a statement gold set Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and ruby collar necklace. The final look I’ve picked for Alexina is definitely my favorite. I love a red head in any shade of green, but especially emerald. So when I saw this emerald green Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2019 sequin embroidered tulle gown which features a plunging v-neckline, long sleeves and a fitted silhouette with a fluted skirt while I was looking for the perfect looks for Alexina to wear during her time in Cannes I immediately fell in love. I had already fallen in love with this gown, but the thought of Alexina wearing this gown gets me very excited. Loose sexy waves, defined eyes, red lips, an emerald green satin Prada box clutch, a pair of emerald green satin Gianvito Rossi crystal buckle embellished sandals, and a suite of de Grisogono emerald and diamond jewels including a pair of drop earrings and a statement cocktail ring would all ensure that Alexina definitely shows her fellow L’Orealista’s that she is here to hang. Blake Lively missed her first Cannes Film Festival last year, and her presence was sorely missed. I have long loved Blake and her amazing personal style and I definitely want to see her back on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year! I think that what I love most about Blake and her style is that she is authentic to herself. She doesn’t work with a stylist. Instead when she selects her wardrobe looks she takes a pic of the dress and sends it to her friends Christian Louboutin and Lorraine Schwartz and they send her the perfect accessories to pair with her gowns. When it comes to red carpet looks Blake tends to favor dramatic and glamours looks and that is why she fits right in on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. The first look I’ve picked for Blake is actually a gown I designed for her. She always shuts a red carpet down when she wears Atelier Versace and typically those gowns are custom designed for her. So I wanted to take some ideas from other Atelier Versace looks and collections and combine them into one custom gown. That is how this bondage inspired crystal embellished bustier bodice gown which features thick straps, a tiered beaded fringe column skirt, and a dramatic train came to be. I was thinking about the bondage strap looks that came down the Versace Fall 2019 RTW runway as the inspiration, but when I mentioned it to Evita (who edits these looks for me) we agreed that they weren’t very Blake, especially not in Cannes. She sent me a screen shot of a gown that Versace had actually designed for Kylie Jenner to wear for the 2016 Met Gala, but she didn’t end up wearing. That is where the bodice came from. I figured that having that dusty rose pink boning and banding is a perfect way to give a nod to that signature Versace bondage inspiration, but in a way that definitely fits right in with Blake’s style. I would have the crystal embellished panels of the bodice embellished with gold crystals to match the tiered beaded fringe skirt. Now that was inspired by an Atelier Versace gown that Uma Thurman actually wore in Cannes a few years ago, though the actual skirt we used came from a vintage unknown label 1950’s gown. We finished it with a dramatic rose pink silk train inspired by the same cut that Dua Lipa had on her custom Atelier Versace gown at the Grammy’s earlier this year. I think it came together to create a major moment. I would love to see Blake finish this look with old Hollywood waves, soft dark rose pink smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of gold studded Christian Louboutin ‘Fairdaravie’ PVC sandals, and over 100 carats of gold set Lorraine Schwartz emerald cut diamond drop earrings. Blake Lively in Elie Saab has always been a winning pairing in the past and I would love to see the two make red carpet magic in Cannes. I kept that old Hollywood vibe I started with the Versace look going picking this amazing gold sequin Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture one shoulder gown which features a bow detail on the shoulder, an a-line silhouette, and a sweeping train (which I think I would want to be lengthened just a little more since there is no such thing as too much drama in Cannes.) I believe that Blake has the potential to really make this gown come to life. Pair it with gold Christian Louboutin ‘Collaclou’ pointed toe PVC pumps, a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft red lips, a pair of Lorraine Schwartz white and yellow diamond drop earrings, and a selection of champagne diamond cocktail rings to definitely ensure head to toe glamour. Finishing out a trio of uber glamorous looks for Blake is this black Ralph & Russo Spring 2019 Couture tulle gown ornately embellished with black pearlescent and silver sequins in a stylized snake print design, featuring double satin draping and cut outs at the waist finished with tassels which I would style with a 40’s inspired updo, winged eyes, red lips, a pair of Lorraine Schwartz diamond drop earrings, black Christian Louboutin ‘Marie Edwina’ satin ribbon strappy sandals detailed with crystal embellishments and feather tassels, and a statement Lorraine Schwartz sapphire and diamond cocktail ring. It would make for an incredibly glamorous Cannes run for Blake. There was a long time when I would get excited about seeing Eva Longoria on the red carpet, but those days are long gone. I actually wondered why I was even bothering to pick amazing gowns for her to wear in Cannes this year since I know that she will disappoint me. With these wishes I feel like I am setting myself up for disappointment. I will however keep making wishes for Eva and hoping that one day everything falls back into place. All three of the gowns I’ve picked for Eva to wear in Cannes this year are things I know the ‘Old Eva’ would have shut down the red carpet in Cannes wearing. Starting off is a major Atelier Versace Spring 2019 Couture moment. When you see the  ‘Eventail’ strapless gown which features a dramatic bow back train ans a sheer 3D floral embellished column gown construction out of a black and white picture you see that it is a blushy/peachy pink and aside from a mini dress lining the gown is sheer. I love the gown, but I would love to see it really sparkle for the Cannes Film Festival so I would line it in rose gold chainmail to allow their to be shimmer in the gown. Finish this gown with a vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, pink coral pink lips, a pair of rose gold Jimmy Choo ‘Lane’ metallic leather sandals, and simple Chopard pink and white diamond teardrop earrings to make this look perfection. Now for the next look I want to see Eva wear I went for drama, but a black gown. A black gown is hard to go wrong with and I definitely think that Eva would own the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals wearing this black Georges Hobeika Spring 2019 Couture strapless completely ruffled ballgown which features a side split. Now I don’t typically pink a whole lot of black looks for Cannes because I don’t think that they really fit the light and breezy setting, but here any there they can work and this one I definitely think could bring out Eva’s inner diva. A sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, simple black Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ platform sandals, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including a pair of white diamond and paraiba tourmaline drop earrings and a pink sapphire and paraiba tourmaline paisley cuff bracelet all would make this another major moment for Eva to bring to life in Cannes. Last but not least for Eva I have a look from a designer who has landed major Cannes moments the last several years, Michael Cinco. He has dressed major moments for L’Orealista’s Aishwarya Rai and Praya Lundberg and now I want to see him work his magic for Eva. I love this blush pink strapless Michael Cinco Fall 2018 Couture strapless bustier mermaid gown which features an intricately beaded bodice and a feathered hem into a long train. Now I tend to think Michael’s gowns would overwhelm someone with a petite frame like Eva, but he hasn’t overwhelmed anyone yet so I don’t see that if this gown is perfectly tailored to Eva’s stature why it wouldn’t be an absolutely major moment especially if styled with a romantic updo, smokey eyes, bold pink lips, silver Jimmy Choo ‘Lilah’ strappy metallic leather platform sandals, and chic Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond “Magical’ setting drop earrings. Victoria’s Secret angel Jasmine Tookes is another L’Orealista and one I definitely want to see deliver really major moments this year. I think that Jasmine wears a lot of really chic things on the red carpet, but she isn’t usually one who brings a whole lot of drama to the red carpet. Her looks tend to be much more simple, especially when it comes to silhouette. The first look I’ve picked for Jasmine to wear in Cannes is probably the closest her to style with this gold and silver strapless Alberta Ferretti Fall 2019 RTW laminated silk-blend gown which features a pleated, maxi length hem, waist cutouts and embellished details at the bodice. Now this gown isn’t supposed to have a train based on the exact off the runway look that will be going into production, but for Cannes I would love to see Alberta modify this gown adding a sweeping train to give a major disco queen glam moment for Jasmine. Pair it with a sleek low bun, smokey eyes, burgundy lips, a pair of gold Alaia strappy sandals, and Boucheron gold chain tassel earrings to really make this a major chic moment. Now a new label I am really hoping to see in Cannes is Cong Tri. The designer made a splash at New York Fashion Week showing a major evening wear collection with a cast of models who are the who’s who of current age supermodels. I love this metallic bronze micro pleated Cong Tri Fall 2019 RTW strapless origami draped mermaid gown and I really believe that it would be an amazing moment for Jasmine to wear on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. The color against her skin tone would be phenomenal. Add a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a pair of bronze Manolo Blahnik jeweled metallic leather sandals, and a statement vintage Boucheron gold lattice and diamond collar necklace to bring this look to life. The final look I’ve picked for Jasmine is a major volume and color moment with this bright yellow Georges Chakra Fall 2019 Couture sleeveless, mixed texture, draped gown. I know that Jasmine shouldn’t be afraid of color, and I don’t think she is. I think that especially for Cannes that this color is perfect and with a sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of yellow Aquazzura PVC strap and crystal buckle detail sandals, and a selection of De Beers jewels including a pair of white and yellow diamond sunburst wreath earrings, and a statement white diamond cuff bracelet. Rounding out today’s wishes is the always gorgeous and dramatic Winnie Harlow. She has definitely mastered commanding the Cannes Film Festival red carpets and I am really excited to see what she has in store for us this year. I turned to three of Winnie’s three favorite couture labels to pick major moments for her to deliver on the red carpet at this years festival starting with this dark pool blue Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture asymmetrical collar detail one shoulder column gown which features a defined waist, draped skirt, thigh high split, and a sweeping train. This is definitely a little edgier and sexy than your typical Elie Saab design, but it still features the brands signature sparkle. I think the fact it isn’t what you would typically expect from an Elie Saab design is what would draw Winnie to this look. I believe it would be a super glamorous and sexy moment for her to bring to life especially if paired with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of silver crystal chain Gianvito Rossi metallic leather ankle wrap sandals, and de Grisogono signatures sphere drop earrings in sapphires and white diamonds. I went from sleek and sexy to pure drama with this dark red and violet Ralph & Russo Fall 2018 Couture asymmetric silk double duchess ballgown which features a thigh-high slit, structured bodice, draped bustle and contrasting pink silk taffeta train. This gives more of a dated 80’s vibe and I know that on most that this gown would go completely wrong, but I think that on Winnie that this look would be absolutely major. Pair it with a sleek high bun updo, smokey eyes, matching dark red lips, red Alexander McQueen crystal bow detail sandals, and chic de Grisogono ruby and amethyst pendant drop earrings to really make sure the styling compliments this statement gown and doesn’t overwhelm it. Finally the last look I’ve picked for Winnie is a very chic goddess moment with this champagne gold Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture pleated lame gown which features a plunging neckline, defined waist, and a flowing a-line skirt. We aren’t exactly used to seeing a goddess vibe from Winnie on the red carpet, but I saw this gown and the idea just stuck with me. I can definitely imagine her working the pleated skirt for all its worth on the red carpet. Finish the look with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of champagne Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ crystal embellished sandals, and selection of champagne diamond de Grisogono jewels including a pair of knotted rope inspired drop earrings and a statement cuff bracelet to ensure Winnie owns the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for another year.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Monday May 13, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.
