It has literally been a month since my last post and for that I am sorry. As usual my work and personal lives have gotten in the way with me bringing you my regular content. Well with awards season drawing nearer and the winter blockbusters gearing up for their releases I am going to try and get back on track and focused. I have been missing inspiration that I had going into the fall festival season. I was so excited but stars just didn’t show up like I was expecting them to. So this Friday will be the final BAFTA event of the year with the 2019 BAFTA Britannia Awards. This smaller awards show is definitely one that can turn out some uber chic looks and I am interested in seeing what the stars who are confirmed to walk this red carpet are cooking up with their stylists.
Jane Fonda will be honored at this years BAFTA LA Britannia Awards with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film. The Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film is presented to legendary individuals whose work is stamped with the indelible mark of authorship and ingenuity. Recipients of the honor have made a unique, enduring impact on the art forms of the moving image. “Fonda is and always has been an unstoppable force on stage, on screen and behind the camera. The legendary actress’s illustrious career has spanned decades and awarded her with numerous accolades for the dozens of characters she has so brilliantly portrayed,” said BAFTA Los Angeles Chair of the Board, Kathryn Busby. I couldn’t agree more. Jane is definitely one of my favorite actresses and even more so one of my favorite ladies to see on the red carpet. Lately I will say that Jane has been dressing a little bit older. I have always loved that no matter how old Jane actually is that she still embodies sexy glamour. I decided that despite that fact that I really want to see Jane deliver a lot of sexy glamour in this steel grey sequin Roland Mouret Spring 2020 RTW one sleeved gown which features origami folded draping, an asymmetrical construction, sheath silhouette, and a split up the center. This is definitely more evocative of the Jane that I have always loved and it would be perfect for her to deliver that on the red carpet at the Britannia Awards on Friday night. Her signature hairstyle, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of grey glitter Aquazzura ‘Forever’ pointed toe pumps, and chic white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection chandelier earrings would all make sure this is a super dazzling moment for Jane to deliver on this red carpet.
After partaking in the live action television special presentation of an episode of The Jefferson’s Kerry Washington will be on hand to present television icon Norman Lear with the Britannia Award for Excellence in Television. I have long been a fan of Kerry and her sense of style. I had questioned some of her choices earlier this year, but lately she has been giving us major looks and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet at the Britannia Awards this Friday. I fell in love with this white silk charmuse Jason Wu Spring 2020 RTW midi gown which features an intricate feather embellished bodice the moment I saw it and I definitely think that Kerry could make this look come to life on a red carpet especially if styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black satin Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ crystal embellished clutch, simple white leather Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas’ crystal trimmed ankle strap sandals, and pair of chic yet simple white diamond and emerald David Morris pendant drop earrings.
Lupita Nyong’o will also honor the fearless leader of a project she was part of this year when she presents Jordan Peele with the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing. Like Kerry I have been a fan of Lupita’s style from the beginning, but in the last year I have been questioning her choices a lot. I am ready for her to regain her red carpet footing and that is exactly what I am imagining will be the case if she were to step onto this red carpet Friday night wearing this amazing green, blue, and grey Haider Ackermann Spring 2020 RTW gown which features a slim fit, A-line silhouette, cutout detail at midsection, an asymmetrically draped bodice, and a cold-shoulder detail. We have never seen Lupita wear Haider on a red carpet before, but I feel like this gown would be an absolutely edgy glam moment for her to bring to life on this red carpet. To make this gown perfect I would style it with a chic updo, smokey eyes with blue eyeliner, dark berry red lips, a pair of dark green Gianvito Rossi ‘Belvedere’ lamé-coated calfskin sandals with a pleated fan heel, and vintage Bulgari sapphire, emerald, and diamond earclips set in 18k gold.
After an incredible triumph at the 2019 Emmy Awards about a month ago Fleabag star and creator Phoebe Waller Bridge will be honored with Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year. It is not shocking in the least to see that Phoebe has been given this honor. She turned a hope project into a major Emmy Winner sweeping almost every category it was nominated in. Now in terms of fashion Phoebe isn’t my favorite. She has potential. She just needs to get the right team behind her. Personally I would think that Phoebe working with either Erin Walsh or Cher Coulter as a stylist could reap some serious benefits. Now if I were the one dressing her I would love to see her show up on this red carpet wearing this lime green Valentino Spring 2020 RTW asymmetrical midi gown which features a relaxed fit, A-line silhouette, and a single caped sleeve. This is definitely a much bolder look than we are used to seeing from Phoebe on the red carpet, but I feel like this is a moment that would put her on the track to red carpet stardom. Finishing the look with a romantic side swoop curly bob, defined eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of champagne Christian Louboutin ‘Follies Strass’ crystal embellished nude mesh pumps with a glitter covered heel, and chic Cartier High Jewelry diamond and peridot earcrawler earrings would definitely ensure that Phoebe makes a splash on the Britannia Awards red carpet this Friday night!
The 2019 BAFTA LA Britannia Awards will take place on Friday October 25, 2019.
