The glamour of the British Fashion Awards is just a couple of days away! As the days get closer and closer I get more and more excited to see what everyone will bring to the red carpet. As I mentioned yesterday I really don’t have much of an idea of who will be on this red carpet yet, but that isn’t going to stop me from making wishes. Today’s wishes feature a couple of Model of the Year nominees and a couple of ladies whom are usually on the Fashion Awards red carpet. Adut Akech is definitely one of my favorite models of the moment. She is fierce af and knows how to command a runway. Now I just want her to bring that same presence and fierceness on the red carpet. She is nominated for Model of the Year and I am hoping to see her bring the WOW to this red carpet. I turned to another Fashion Award nominee to the, almost, perfect look for Adut to bring to life on this red carpet. John Galliano, for Maison Margiela, is nominated for British Designer of the Year – Womenswear and I think that Adut could definitely rock one of his major looks on this red carpet. I turned to this black and white ensemble from the Maison Margiela Fall 2019 Couture collection which features an origami draped halter crop top bodice and a high waisted folded skirt. On its own the look is definitely chic enough for a red carpet moment, but for the fashion awards I would love to see John customize this look for Adut to have a floor length skirt. Now with that customized skirt I would love to see Adut style this look with defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of black satin Prada red lightning strike sculptural heel round toe pumps, and vintage 1930’s Cartier white diamond and ruby floral earclips. I feel like this could be that major fashion moment I am waiting for Adut to deliver on the red carpet.
Kaia Gerber is also nominated for Model of the Year. The offspring of the iconic Cindy Crawford has been everywhere this year and has rocked some of the biggest looks on the runways for Valentino and Givenchy this year. I am definitely excited to see her move forward as a model and take her career into a major manner. For the British Fashion Awards I went to a go to designer for Kaia, Versace. This blush Atelier Versace Fall 2019 Couture mermaid gown which features a plunging neckline, an intricately beaded bodice, and a flared tulle hem is chic and elegant. It would definitely be a glamorous statement for Kaia to bring to life on the Fashion Awards red carpet. A sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of gold strappy Giuseppe Zanotti metallic leather sandals, and dazzling Messika Paris High Jewelry ‘Firebird’ white diamond cluster earrings would definitely turn this look into an amazing moment for Kara.
Given the fact that Naomie Harris will soon be gearing up for the next Bond film promo tour I decided that I wanted to see her start keeping up appearances at the 2019 British Fashion Awards. I decided that Naomie would be one of the few people who could tell this tomato red Erdem Spring 2020 RTW suit which features a loose fit with a sari style draped detail would be a real statement moment for her to bring to life on the Fashion Awards red carpet. Now Erdem isn’t one of the nominated designers at this years awards, but what major British fashion awards red carpet would be complete without one of the brightest talents in British fashion. This suit is definitely not going to be east to make work, but I think that Naomie has the presence to bring the look to life. Now that being said I would ditch the white button down shirt that the suit was paired with on the runway in favor of going topless under the jacket. To really bring this look together I would style it with tight braids, defined eyes, berry rose Charlotte Tilbury “Walk of Shame” matte revolution lips, a silver crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of white satin Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ crystal tiara embellished pointed toe pumps, and Atelier Swarovski white topaz and lab created diamond ‘Luna’ cluster earrings.
The last two years for the British Fashion Awards British socialite Poppy Delevingne decided to forego wearing a British label on the red carpet instead opting for looks from major labels like Prada and Giambattista Valli Couture. I decided that for this years red carpet I would love to see Poppy deliver a major British look for the Fashion Awards with this blue thistle inspired Alexander McQueen Spring 2020 RTW cocktail dress. I do love this look and I definitely think we will see it on this red carpet. It isn’t the look we are typically used to seeing Poppy wearing on the red carpet, but as I was going through options this look really just stuck out to me. I definitely believe that would be a major moment for her to bring to life especially if styled with a sleek updo, soft defined eyes, soft pink lips, a ballroom blue satin Alexander McQueen ‘Butterfly’ crystal clasp box clutch, a pair of statement silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Jasmine’ crystal fringe embellished sandals, and statement white diamond Boucheron ‘Feuilles D’Acanthe’ feather earrings.
Finishing out today is the gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The British model has been a huge supporter of the new Bottega Veneta creative director Daniel Lee. She has worn several looks by the brand off the red carpet. Personally I am not a fan of Daniel’s work for Bottega Veneta. I find it all looking very cheap and all too inspired by other designers. That being said the British Fashion Council must not see it that way because he is nominated for several British Fashion Awards including Accessories Designer of the Year, Brand of the Year, British Designer of the Year – Womenswear, and Designer of the Year. So with that being said it wouldn’t surprise me to see Rosie wearing one of his creations on this red carpet. Now since taking the helm of Bottega Veneta Daniel hasn’t sent a gown down the runway. I would suspect that if he dresses Rosie that she would want a gown. So I turned to this simple orange sleeveless open back halter dress from the Bottega Veneta Spring 2020 RTW collection which I would love to see lengthened into a floor length gown with a dramatic train. I think that when modified that this gown would boast chic, simplistic, and sensual glamour and that is exactly what Rosie knows how to deliver on the red carpet with effortless ease. With a simple style gown like this the styling has to be 100% on point to be a perfect red carpet moment. So I would want to see Rosie style this gown with a sleek braided bun updo, defined eyes, burnt orange lips, a gold Bottega Veneta ‘Intrecciato Knot’ woven box clutch, a pair of simple gold metallic leather Aquazzura ‘Purist’ sandals, and statement white and yellow diamond David Morris chandelier earrings to really make this look the uber wow moment I know it can be.
The 2019 British Fashion Awards will take place on Monday December 2, 2019.
