Closing out my wishes for the looks that came down the runway during New York Fashion Week from the Fall 2020 RTW collections. This season I noticed how even more diverse my wishes were. Designers who typically design for one type of person seemed to open to the most diverse set of starlets who I can picture wearing the looks on the red carpet. Now of course the people I see wearing the looks below are just my personal opinion, but I definitely think that the red carpets over the next several months that will include the Tribeca Film Festival, the No Time To Die promo tour, the Met Gala, the Cannes Film Festival, the Tony Awards, and more will see some major fashion moments. We are already seeing the looks from NYFW brought to life on the red carpet and the looks are phenomenal. I can’t wait to see what the next several months have in store. So enjoy these wishes and stay tuned my wishes for the runways of London Fashion Week are coming for you soon!

New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List Part 2
New York Fashion Week happened later than normal. We got to see some previews of the collections on the SAG Awards, Grammy Awards, and Oscars red carpets. I was honestly really surprised by just how strong the collections shown during New York Fashion Week. These runways make me really excited for the red carpets over the next several months. The glamorous looks that span looks perfect for everything from the sidewalk to the red carpet. We will see many of the looks from these collections on the red carpet and below are just 55 early predictions of who I would love to see bring some of my favorite looks to walk the New York Fashion Week runways to life on the red carpet.
New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List Part 1
So in a post Oscar haze it has taken a while to really soak in all of the collections and pick some superb wishes for stars to bring to life. As I pull images from the shows starts always pop through my mind. There were so many great looks that came out of New York Fashion Week this season I decided to break my wishes up into several parts (probably about 3) so the posts didn’t feel super, super long. So many looks in this list will be perfect not only for the red carpet, but also great late night show appearance looks and great street style moments. I don’t even know which of the looks below I love the most.
2020 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3
While I wish all my Oscar wishes could have been as in depth as last nights post unfortunately I just don’t have the time to write posts like that for everyone. So we are back to the galleries of wishes today. In this set of wishes you will find performers, presenters, and guests of films which are nominated. I am really intrigued to see who from the nominated films show up to support their projects despite not being nominated or a presenter. I am specifically thinking about Caitriona Balfe. Am I wasting the wish of that major electric blue sequined Valentino Couture on her? Well given the fact that I honestly believe it will be on the red carpet Sunday night I don’t think so. I really wanted to make sure it got featured in a wish and I believe that Caitriona has the stature to really bring this look to life on a red carpet. Honestly all of the gowns in this set of wishes are some of my favorite wishes this awards season. Overall while I might have struggled a bit to pick the perfect options for some of the stars who are attending this years Oscars I am really happy with all the gowns I have picked for them. That being said with New York Fashion Week kicking off yesterday, and the bulk of the real red carpet heavy hitters not showing until Oscar day or beyond I have a feeling that we will see lots of custom gowns and maybe even a couple collection previews on the Oscars red carpet this weekend.
The 2020 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday February 9, 2020.
2020 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2
Did you really think I was going to let an entire awards season go by without a single post breaking down full looks for stars to bring to life on the red carpet? The accelerated pace of awards season coupled with my full time job hasn’t allowed me to really dive deep into my wishes as much as just put them out into the universe for you all to take in and enjoy. Well that kind of ends today. I was having a really hard time picking looks for some of the stars who are going to be on the Oscars red carpet this Sunday night. I am typically really excited to use hot off the runway looks from New York Fashion Week labels like Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Rodarte, & more. Well since NYFW officially kicks off today and I am going to Atlanta for a work trip tomorrow I just needed to put together my wishes. So below you are going to find four wishes for looks that I want to see customized based on current, and archive couture, runway and lookbook ensembles to really ensure that everyone owns the red carpet at the 2020 Academy Awards. Up first is Dior spokeswoman and Best Actress nominee Charlize Theron. We all know that as the face of Dior that Charlize isn’t going to wear anything but a look from the French legacy house on the red carpet of Hollywood’s biggest night. In her history of walking the Oscars Charlize has only worn a designer other than Dior twice wearing Vera Wang in 2000 and Gucci by Tom Ford in 2004. This makes sense knowing that Charlize signed her first Dior contract after the 2004 Oscars and well now the rest is history. Anything will make up for the god awful dark hair and sister wife mash up that she wore on last years red carpet. As I was going through looks for Charlize to wear on this red carpet I had actually originally picked a pleated chiffon gown from the Christian Dior Spring 2020 collection I would have wanted to see her wear as presented, but then she wore that stunning purple custom Dior pleated chiffon gown for the BAFTA’s on Sunday night and I went back to the drawing board. (The BAFTA red carpet made me change several of my Oscar wishes as they are so close together.) So instead I decided to go with a princess moment picking this one shoulder layered tulle ball gown from that same collection. Now while the gown was gorgeous in winter white on the runway feel like it might be too bridal as presented for Charlize, so I would love to see Maria Grazia Chiuri and the Dior atelier re-create this gown in the bold red that also came down this runway (swatched in the circle in the image above.) Charlize has only worn red on the Oscars red carpet once before and it was a slip style gown so this look would definitely feel very different than what we are used to seeing from the actress on the red carpet. I would also love to see the Dior team add a bit of a lengthy train to this gown to add even more DRAMA because well this is the Oscars and this is where you should either go big or go home. A sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, dark pink lips, a pair of red Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ satin & tulle sandals, and dazzling white diamond flower and leaf inspired Tiffany & Co. Blue Book collection diamond cluster drop earrings would definitely ensure that Charlize delivers drama and glamour on this red carpet from head to toe.
Not every idea I had floating around in my head pre-BAFTA’s was completely flipped post BAFTA like Charlize. I had originally picked this black strapless Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture tiered tulle ball gown with a strapless satin bustier bodice for first time nominee Florence Pugh. Now that being said I also had the thought of having Giambattista take this style and re-create it in a different colorway. Originally I had wanted to see the gown re-created in a coral and peony pink pairing that we saw on a cocktail ensemble from the Giambattista Valli Spring 2020 Couture collection. Now that color pairing on Florence I believe would be superb, but given the fact that this weekend at the BAFTA Awards that she wore hot pink on the red carpet I think the chances of her wearing another pink gown on the red carpet is slim. So I went back to the drawing board. When I originally picked that first colorway I debated between that and the chartreuse/lime color which you can see swatched in the image above. This is a color that really hasn’t been done on the Oscars red carpet in the past, but I think that the classic glamour of this gown paired with that bold color would make for a real wow modern, dramatic, and glamorous moment for Florence to deliver on this red carpet. With such a bold color gown I decided I wanted to keep the styling just as bold with a twisted rockabilly inspired updo, defined eyes, hot pink lips, a pair of matching metallic lime Miu Miu crystal studded block heel sandals, and a statement white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2019 ‘Superb’ collar necklace to just ensure that Florence is oozing modern glamour from head to toe as she walks the Oscars red carpet for the first time .
I was so disappointed in the offerings that Virginie Viard sent down the runway at the Chanel Spring 2020 Couture presentation. I was PRAYING for a major moment for Margot Robbie to be able to wear for the Oscars, but that hope died with that terrible collection. I was shocked by just how terrible I thought the show was given the fact that Virginie’s Pre-Fall show for the house was one of my favorite Chanel collections in a white. So I decided that instead of picking a Chanel Couture ensemble for Margot to wear on the Oscars red carpet this weekend because I felt obligated I decided that I would modify a look from that killer Chanel Pre-Fall 2020 collection instead. The detailing on this black, white, and gold strapless pencil dress is amazing. At it’s core this is a simple black sequined dress that was then intricately laid with pearls forming the classic Chanel camellia add to that the gold beaded strewn throughout this dress has layers of decadence and honestly creating a simple column gown out of this dress would make for a seriously chic moment for Margot to bring to life on this red carpet. I would strip the look down leaving the cape and the white leather and gold chain bow detailed belt at home. I would still want to see Margot define the waist, but possible with a brick red satin belt to compliment a Chanel Haute Jewelry ‘My Red’ yellow gold, brick red ceramic enamel, and white diamond cuff bracelet I think would be a great paring with this gown. The jewelry I picked to compliment this gown are not your typical Oscar jewels, but more modern from the Chanel ‘Gallery’ high jewelry collection. The selection of jewels also includes a pair of yellow gold, white diamond, and yellow diamond geometric chain drop earrings in addition to the cuff bracelet. A sleek side parted updo, defined winged eyes, bold brick red lips, a gold Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho Champagne’ Snakeskin clutch with a jeweled clasp, and black and gold Aquazzura ‘La Di Da’ metallic leather and suede platform ankle strap sandals would add the perfect finishing touches for this look.
The final wish in this set is for double nominee Scarlett Johansson. I will say that when awards season started I was a little worried after ScarJo wore that big red taffeta Vera Wang ball gown at the Golden Globe Awards and then skipped the Critics Choice Awards. Well she started redeeming herself with the Armani Prive gown she wore at the SAG Awards and it has just been up from there. I was originally going to pick this major vintage Atelier Versace moment for Scarlett, but literally as I was saving the images she stepped onto the BAFTA Awards red carpet wearing a custom Atelier Versace gown and I decided to abandon that idea. To be completely honest I think that Scarlett is going to end awards season wearing a Celine gown like she did for the Venice Film Festival premiere of Marriage Story which is where her race to the Oscars began. So with that all in mind I went back to the drawing board. I was looking at the Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2020 collection and thinking about how much I love this peridot green sequined bow detail one shoulder gown. Well as originally presented I don’t think that the gown works for Scarlett, but I was thinking that the gown was also shown as a top in gold and if Fernando Garcia & Laura Kim were to custom make the gown in gold with a bit of a train I definitely think that this would be a really killer moment for Scarlett to rock on the Oscars red carpet especially if styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of metallic gold lizard effect leather Jimmy Choo ‘Pattie’ platform ankle strap peep toe sandals, and dazzling H. Stern rock crystal chandelier earrings.

2020 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1
Today kicks off my wishes for the 2020 Academy Awards. We are finally in the home stretch of awards season. It all comes down to the red carpet this Sunday night at the Oscars. The BAFTA Awards delivered the fashion moments I have been craving all awards season. I don’t know if I had set the bar low following the request from BAFTA that guest re-wear things already in their closets, which only the Duchess of Cambridge and Joaquin Phoenix did, but I was quite pleasantly surprised. I am hoping that after I was super disappointed in the Oscars red carpet for the most part last year that everyone will deliver superb fashion moments from nominees and presenters to performers and guests. Kicking off my wishes are a bunch of this years nominees, three of whom I am expecting are going to take home little gold men, one of last years winners who is back as a presenter this year, a performance look for a nominee, a couple of other presenters, and Billie Eilish who will be giving an undisclosed “special performance” on Sunday night. All of these looks are ready to be brought to life on quite possibly the most important red carpet of the year. I have my hopes high, but I am also trying to manage my expectations so that I am not disappointed in what stars choose to wear on this years red carpet.
The 2020 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday February 9, 2020.
2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet Wish List
The day before the Oscars in a tent adjacent to the Santa Monica beach the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards will take place. This carpet is typically the most laid back of awards season, but given some of the nominees I am hoping that while this might be a mid day awards event that the stars will bring their a-game to the red carpet. This years event is going to be hosted by Aubrey Plaza and so that is why I picked two looks for her. One is a printed maxi gown that is perfect for the red carpet and then a bold green Balmain mini dress for her to wear while on stage hosting the show. In terms of the looks for nominees and guests I have to say my favorite wish here is the soft peach Givenchy Spring 2020 Couture ensemble I want to see JLo shut the red carpet down in. The look is definitely not the easiest to pull off, but I believe that JLo is the perfect one to translate this look off the runway. Every single one of these looks would be an absolutely amazing moment for each of these ladies to bring to life on the red carpet.

The 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards will take place on Saturday February 8, 2020.
2020 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 3
Today I close out my Oscar parties wishes. The only thing that stands between you and my wishes for the actual Oscars ceremony red carpet now are my wishes for the Film Independent Spirit Awards which will be posted tomorrow. We are now less than a week to Oscar night. Unfortunately I will be on a work trip and unable to engage in the red carpet as much as I want to this year, but I am hoping that while I am working a trade show that stars are delivering superb Best Dressed of the Year worthy moments on the red carpet. I haven’t seen any yet this awards season, but I am holding out hope after the BAFTA red carpet last night shunned the “re-wear” and “sustainable” plea from the organization and delivered some of the best red carpet looks of the season. I am praying that this will continue through the week and end with a slew of knockout moments on Oscar night. I have high expectations, but trying to manage them so I can be blown away. Some of the wishes below are exactly that wishful thinking, but some of these (even the more realistic ones) could be a personal best for the ladies walking Oscar night red carpets.
Oscar Night 2020 is Sunday February 9, 2020.
2020 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 2
Oscar night is always one of the most glamorous nights of the year. We can see upwards of 200+ looks on the red carpets of Oscar night. Despite the fact that last year I did not actually post a Best Dressed of the Year list an Oscar party look has never made the final cut for a BDOTY List. We have seen some superb moments on the red carpets at Oscar parties. I am specifically remembering Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a mint green Ralph & Russo Couture at the 2018 Vanity Fair Party. That look was in my final round of cuts for my 2018 Best Dressed of the Year list, though that was a really tough year to make the list. I hope that with some of the people who I am rumored to hear are making an Oscar night appearance will deliver some major moments as I was super underwhelmed with last year. In all of today’s wishes I am featuring some of the looks that are hot off the Paris Haute Couture runways, Pre-Fall 2020 looks I am dying to see on the red carpet, as well as looks from Spring 2020 RTW I don’t want to see lost to the archive, as well as couture archive moments I am still waiting to see on the red carpet. Honestly if just a 1/3 of these could come true then this could be one of the best Oscar nights ever.
Oscar Night 2020 is Sunday February 9, 2020.
2020 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 1
Kicking off my final push to the Oscar night is a bunch of wishes I want to see brought to life on the red carpet at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Oscar night delivers literally hundreds of looks on the red carpet between the actual ceremony red carpet and telecast as well as the seemingly endless parties that take place. Now I actually know very little about who will be on the red carpet at the Oscar parties, but I try my best to give you an idea of who we may see. To come up with the people you will see in these wishes I pull names of people who are nominated and presenting at the actual Oscar ceremony, the co-chairs of the Elton John AIDS Foundation Gala, guests who are confirmed to attend pre-Oscar events, past regular attendees, and of course people whom I love/people whom I want to see specific wearing specific looks on the red carpet. So in the 36 looks in today’s set of Oscar party wishes feature everything from cocktail looks to couture ballgowns and pretty much everything in between. I am really hoping that Oscar night is the shining beacon in an awards season where fashion has been almost lackluster.
