According to Screen Daily when it came to first features there were a couple of UK features that seemed to be in post-production and ready to screen at this years Cannes Film Festival prior to the quarantine. One of these films was Stacey Gregg’s Belfast-set drama Here Before, starring Andrea Riseborough as a bereaved mother. Aside from that little bit and the cast there isn’t much I know about this film, but with Cannes pledging to feature more female directors in competition this film definitely could have been a real contender to screen in the main competition, or at very least it could have been in contention for a slot in the Un Certain Regard selection. 
We have seen Here Before starlet Andrea Riseborough at the Venice Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, London Film Festival, and the Berlin Film Festival; but she has never been to Cannes. I am always interested in seeing what we Andrea will look like when she steps onto the red carpet. She is a fashion chameleon. I never know what her vibe is going to be. I am hoping that we see her bringing some major moment on the red carpet while promoting this film. For a Cannes Film Festival photocall I would have picked this navy and yellow random item sketch printed Lanvin Fall 2020 RTW maxi dress which features slashes cold shoulder peasant sleeves, a ruffled neckline, a leather belted waist, and a high low ruffled neckline. The look speaks to Andrea’s darker side, but is breezy enough for the light and airy balcony setting photocalls take place on in Cannes. Styling this look with a teased coif, defined eyes, wine red lips, black leather Alexander McQueen ‘No. 13’ carved wood wedge cage sandals, and a pair of rose gold set Maison Dauphin white diamond fan ear jackets I know this would be a really cool moment for Andrea. Now for the premiere I went for something more classic, but still dramatic opting for this black Armani Prive Fall 2016 Couture ensemble which features a beaded long sleeve top and a peplum silk column skirt. I am a little surprised that this look hasn’t been snatched up in the past and I do think that Andrea would be a perfect person to bring the look to life on the red carpet. I think that while this gown doesn’t have a big skirt or a long train like many gowns we typically see in Cannes that it would be Andrea’s quirky personality, and some really good styling, that would really make this a major moment. So I would style this gown with a sleek side parted updo, smokey eyes, bold fire engine red matte lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Sublime’ crystal embellished bauble strappy sandals, and dazzling white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2019 chandelier earrings to make sure this look screams glamour from head to toe. 
Aishwarya Rai always owns the red carpets in Cannes. There was a time where of her two looks on the red carpet while promoting L’Oreal Paris would be a traditional Indian sari or lehenga, but recently she has been spending more moments in haute couture. So I went more western with my inspiration for the second look I would have loved to see Aishwarya bring to life on the red carpet, but infusing it with a hint of traditional Indian elegance picking this Manish Malhotra Summer Wedding Edit 2020 ballgown. This ruffle cap sleeve gown which features a square neckline, intricate traditional Indian beading all over, and a long train is absolutely glamorous. I can definitely see her bringing this look to life in Cannes with a braided updo, defined smokey eyes, burgundy glossy lips, a pair of ballet pink and silver suede Jimmy Choo ‘Katie’ crystal embellished hotfix bow detailed strappy platform ankle strap sandals, and a statement white diamond and brown topaz Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2018 open hinge fringe collar necklace. 
Thai actress Araya A. Hargate always knows how to deliver a fashion moment. I was expecting to see her deliver some major fashion on the red carpets at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The L’Orealista has delivered several Jean Paul Gaultier gowns in Cannes over the years, so it seemed only fitting that I once again pick a look from the designers final couture collection for Araya to bring to life this year. I really wanted to see Araya deliver the edgy side of glamour wearing this black Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2020 Couture asymmetrical ball gown which features a ruffled one shoulder detail, intricate beaded embroidery, and a tulle crinoline skirt. It is the perfect meshing of edgy and glamour and one of my favorite gowns that Gaultier sent down his final runway. I would love to see Araya wearing this gown on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals styling it with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark red matte lips, a pair of black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Belissa’ strappy feather trimmed sandals, and a statement Chopard Green Carpet Collection 2020 necklace made in a shape of an eagle whose diamond-set golden wings are unfurled, with a fancy brown yellow pear-shaped diamond firmly gripped in the bird of prey’s talons. It would definitely make for an absolutely major moment for Araya to wear in Cannes, or anytime honestly. I just really want to see her bring this look to life. 
Julianne Moore has delivered a Givenchy moment in Cannes every year since 2015. Each one has been dazzling and major. Those looks have been in final rounds of Best Dressed of the Year cuts every year and honestly sometimes I think that I should have picked them in each year. Had Julianne been given the opportunity to once again dazzle on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet wearing this silver and rose gold Givenchy Spring 2020 Couture tinsel fringe caped tiered gown. It is definitely a risky piece and not everyone would be able to be seen through this gown, but I know Julianne could. Now style the look simply with a sleek updo, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, silver glitter Givenchy ankle strap d’Orsay pointed toe pumps, and a pair of simple yet dazzling and elegant pink cushion cut diamond and white diamond teardrop Chopard Red Carpet Collection drop earrings and I know this would be a Best Dressed of the Year worthy fashion moment from Julianne.
