We are just a couple days away from the 2020 VMA’s. I am really excited to see what this years virtual edition is going to bring. I have no real expectations. We’ve seen some events go really great while others have left me wanting more. I want this event to go over delivering a major production that helps us escape from the reality of the pandemic, at least for a little bit. 
Billie Eilish earned herself six nominations at this years VMA’s. After sweeping the Grammy’s earlier this year it would seem like she is the heir apparent to do the same for the VMA’s. When it comes to style we know that Billie favors her oversized street inspired looks. I noticed that over the course of the Fall 2020 collection presentations earlier this year that brands that I never would have turned to for looks for Billie were showing a look that could have been optioned by the teen pop star. I told a friend that writing that I was picking a look from Erdem for Billie for this wish sounds far fetched. She responded “HAHAHAHHA it’s a good dream.” Then I sent her this silver silk floral jacquard pajama inspired oversized co-ord from the Erdem Fall 2020 RTW collection and she responded with “I’d never imagine this to be HER, but it’s exactly HER.” I think that is the mark of a good designer. Erdem expanded his glam to a new market with this look and I do feel like it would be a cool moment for Billie especially styled with a pair of silver and white Roger Vivier ‘Viv Run’ crystal embellished buckle chunky sneakers. 
Had there been a red carpet at the VMAs it would have been the first MAJOR red carpet Demi Lovato would have walked. I would have liked to see what she would have cooked up for the red carpet. I didn’t go to the runways though for the perfect glamour moment for Demi to rock with this hot pink Versace cross draped stretch jersey halter neck gown with gold safety pin details and center split from the virtual racks of LuisaViaRoma.com. While Demi could pull a look from many major runways this dress is a super cool moment that I feel she would be able to make this gown into a MAJOR fashion moment. Styling this gown with a sleek side parted updo, thick defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of fuchsia glitter Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Polina’ strappy sandals, and Nikos Koulis ‘Feelings’ collection yellow gold chain hoop earrings with white diamonds would definitely ensured this is one of Demi’s best red carpet moments ever. 
I know that Halsey can serve a major fashion moment on the red carpet, but often times I feel like I’m questioning her taste. I want her to continue to give her fashionable chameleon vibes, but always making sure that she hits the high fashion marks. So when I was thinking about what I would have wanted to see her wear on the red carpet at the VMA’s if there was one I immediately went to this dramatic midnight blue, grey, lavender, and gold watercolor agate print Georges Hobeika Fall 2020 Couture gown which features dramatic caped sleeves. It’s a super cool moment and not many could sell it to me. I feel like the edgy that Halsey brings to the red carpet would definitely make sure that this look screams cool especially if styled with a short black finger wave updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Bel’ silver crystal embellished peep toe slingback sandals, and Anita Ko white diamond ‘Rain Drop’ earrings set in white gold. 
Megan Thee Stallion knows how to serve glamour on the red carpet so I am disappointed that we won’t get to see her give us a major fashion moment on the VMA’s red carpet. Had there been one I would have LOVED to see Megan give us femme fatale glamour wearing this sapphire blue sequined Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu Fall 2020 Couture strapless sculptural mermaid gown which features an asymmetric neckline, half peplum, and a thigh high split. It would ooze glamour and with old Hollywood lives, thick winged eyes, bold red lips, sapphire blue velvet Tom Ford jeweled heel sandals, and a selection of major Butani jewels including a pair of twisted wreath white diamond earrings, a white diamond leaf wave cut bracelet, and a selection of white diamond and sapphire rings. 
The Weeknd is nominated and will be performing at this weekends VMA’s. It’s been a while since he’s been out on the red carpet and I am excited to see what he will rock. The last red carpet he walked he gave us 70’s vibes and I kinda stuck to that for my wish for him to wear for the VMA’s. I would love to see The Weeknd rock this black damier check print single breasted suit from the Louis Vuitton Resort 2021 Menswear collection with a crisp white button down shirt and a thin black skinny tie. Finishing the moment with a pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Voltaire’ silver metal toe capped derbies and graphite Louis Vuitton ‘Mascot Marble’ square aviator sunglasses would definitely make this a super chic menswear moment.

A$AP Rocky is known for bringing the fashion factor to the red carpet. He has favored Dior Homme since Kim Jones took the helm, but instead I went to another super hyped brand for him to wear for the VMAs. I LOVE this black and chocolate brown Bottega Veneta Fall 2020 collection ensemble which features a dancing shadow sheer knit button down long sleeve top, a pair of high waisted straight leg pants, and a cummerbund. It isn’t a look for the faint of heart and I think that A$AP Rocky would definitely be able to sell it to me with ease for the VMAs. 
Harry Styles is a Gucci devotee. I live that Harry, especially as a a straight man, wants to blur the lines of gender on the red carpet. Unfortunately it often doesn’t work and he ends up looking like a grandma in ill-fitting clothing. Had there been a red carpet for this years VMAs I would have LOVED to see Harry rock this peach and bright floral printed Gucci Resort 2021 Menswear suit which features a box cut double breasted jacket, flared wide leg trousers, and a beige pussy bow blouse. It is definitely right up Harry’s sense of style and I feel like we will definitely see him bring this look to life at some point. His tousled waves and a pair of 
John Legend is nominated in two new categories at the VMA’s. He could take home the Moonperson for Best Music Video from Home and/or Best Quarantine Performance. Now with his awards being taken from the Pandemic performance shift I would imagine that if John won anything that he will accept it from home super casual. It’s a shame because I always love seeing him and wife Chrissy Teigan rocking a red carpet. So of course I had to pick two looks for the couple as if there were going to be a red carpet. For John I would have loved to see him rock this Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh Resort 2021 Menswear suit which features a grey single button blazer with an asymmetrical band detail on the waist and a pair of slim fit black trousers. Now I would have switched up the styling a bit instead styling it with a crisp white shirt, a black bow tie, and a pair of 
I love Maluma. He is always one to serve a look so I am really excited to see what he will wear for the VMAs where he is both nominated and performing. I went through a gambit of different labels when I was thinking about what to pick for Maluma, but it was this Dior grey two button double breasted Dior Men Spring 2019 Menswear suit with a cream to fuchsia ombre silk sash kept popping back into my mind. We’ve seen a couple iterations of this look on the red carpet thanks to Gwendoline Christie and Darren Criss, but I feel like Maluma would definitely give this style a MAJOR red carpet moment. The last look today is for Travis Scott. I’ve definitely kept an eye on Travis and his style. He tends to favor looks from Dior Homme or Louis Vuitton, but I saw this sunset print Balmain Resort 2021 Menswear blazer and matching button down shirt worn unbuttoned with a black t-shirt and black trousers and it spoke to me. It is a super cool look and I feel like Travis would bring his effortless cool vibe to this look for sure. I would finish the look with statement sneakers via a pair of 
MTV did announce plans for the show to “[span] all five boroughs” to “pay homage to the strength, spirit and incredible resilience of NYC and its beloved residents.” I would be shocked if Alicia Keys, who does come across as an ultimate New Yorker, won’t perform. She is nominated for Best R&B thanks to her song “Underdog” which focuses on rising in situations that may be difficult. I went back to the same idea I had for Keke Palmer and picked a head to toe look for Alicia from black designers starting with an eggplant iridescent velvet Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 RTW double breasted suit which features strong shoulders, slouchy sleeves, and wide leg trousers. I can definitely imagine Alicia sitting at a piano placed in the middle of a street in New York City as the sun sets performing “Underdog” in this suit. It would be made even better with a sleek updo with perfectly beat babyhairs, smokey eyes. glossy nude pink lips, a pair of 
When I head that Chloe x Halle were only given a place to perform in the VMA’s pre-show I was annoyed. First I don’t know how that will work. The pre-show usually takes place on the red carpet as guests arrive. Well there is no red carpet. So why not just call it the show. Second I feel like these sisters have been doing it for a while now and deserve the plunge to the main show. Either way I am excited to see what they and stylist Zerina Akers are going to cook up for the VMA’s. I decided to pick two complimentary looks from the David Koma Fall 2020 RTW collection for these ladies starting with a black slim fit wool single button suit with a white and green crystal embellished harness for Chloe Bailey and a black sequined jersey long sleeve mini dress which features a cutout neckline for Halle Bailey. The two looks are super sexy and glamorous and I feel like these sisters would own their respective moments at the VMA’s. To style the looks I would love to see Chloe with a sleek ponytail of braids, smokey eyes, deep red glossy lips, and a pair of 
It was the custom red sequin ‘siren’ emblazoned Moschino gown at the 2019 MTV VMAs that told me that Lizzo was going to be a fashionable force to be reckoned with. I’ve been obsessed with her looks from Atelier Versace, Moschino, Mary Katrantzou, and more! She is nominated for two VMAs this year and I would have loved to see what she would wear for the red carpet this year. I was thinking about looks and I fell in love with this jade green Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2020 Couture gown which gives distinct 60’s palm springs hostess caftan vibes with its ostrich feather trim. It is super glam but definitely not a look that anyone could pull off. I feel like this is such a bold statement and I think that Lizzo has the presence to make it work. I would make this look even more major with a teased bouffant updo, smokey glitter eyes, 
Machine Gun Kelly will also be performing at the 2020 VMAs “pre-show” what ever that means. The rapper is definitely known to serve a cool menswear moment and I am praying we see that from him at the 2020 VMA’s. We’ve seen him pull looks from Calvin Klein by Raf Simons, Comme de Garcons, and Saint Laurent but instead of going to one of those top tier labels instead I wanted to see MGK rock a look from Netflix’s Next In Fashion Season 1 runner up Daniel W. Fletcher. I LOVE this look which features a black tuxedo coat, a white unbuttoned button down, a pair of boot cut white piped slashed trousers, and a wide white asymmetrical cummerbund from his Fall 2020 Menswear collection titled “Start Me Up.” It is a cool new take on the classic tuxedo and I feel like that is what MGK is into. Finishing out this list is the gorgeous Taylor Swift who is nominated for 5 VMA’s. We haven’t heard about Taylor performing or making any appearances at this years event. I won’t lie to you I’m not loving her new album, but I would love to see her give a super soft glam moment inspired by the aesthetic the album gives wearing this grey and white marbled pattern chiffon Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture one shoulder gown which features a defined waist, ruffle detail on the shoulder, an a-line skirt, and a thigh high split. It is the soft moody glam effortless elegance that is woven in the music from Folklore and I feel like it would be a gorgeous gown on Taylor. The Jonas Brothers have been giving great coordinated looks as they’ve been on the red carpet promoting their return. I turned to the newest Atelier Versace collection that featured more menswear then we have ever seen before. I picked three complimentary looks that I feel speaks to each of the brother’s sense of style. Let’s start with Nick. I love this gold chainmail tuxedo blazer with gold striped pants. Nick can be drawn to a very extra take on masculinity and that is exactly what we see in this look. For Kevin I went a little more conservative with a black silk jacquard double breasted tuxedo that features some crystal embellishment on the shoulders and gold buttons. Out of the three brothers Kevin is definitely the most conservative when it comes to style, but he isn’t afraid to push the boundaries a little bit. This look speaks to both sides of Kevin’s style. Finally for Joe I went with the most avant garde style which features a peak label blazer with rose pink to black ombre blazer. It’s a cool look and I know that Joe would make sure it was a super cool moment for the red carpet. 
Of the Jonas Brother wives Priyanka Chopra is by far the most fashionable. I have long loved seeing Priyanka on the red carpet and I’m disappointed that we won’t get to see her and Nick together on the red carpet. I decided to pick a look from the same Atelier Versace collection I picked the tuxedos for Nick, Kevin, & Joe. I LOVE this sunset orange and coral pink strapless gown which features a crystal embellished lace bodysuit and a scarf style a-line skirt with a thigh high split and a dramatic train. I feel like this color would be major on Priyanka. Old Hollywood waves, bronze smokey eyes, dark coral lips, a pair of 
Sophie Turner is locked to her Louis Vuitton contract so I am sure that if she were to attend the VMA’s with the Joe Jonas I know she would rock an LV look on the red carpet. There aren’t many I really would want to see her bring to life. I do think that this speed racer meets bohemian meets rock and roll glam moment from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2019 RTW collection is really one of the only looks I would like to see Sophie bring to life on this red carpet. The leather bodice and the mini skirt over the chiffon pants is a cool look and I think that it could be a cool look for Sophie to bring to life with a sleek high ponytail, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of 
Danielle Jonas doesn’t do a while lot of fashion I would have still loved to see her bring some glamour to the red carpet at the VMAs with her husband Kevin. I don’t have a while lot to reference when it comes to Danielle’s style I thought this silver grey Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu Spring 2020 Couture gown would be perfect. Its super glamorous and I feel like it would compliment the Atelier Versace tuxedo I’ve picked for Kevin. I would love to see Danielle wear this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, deep rose pink lips, a pair of 
Rain on Me has lead Ariana Grande (and of course Queen Gaga) to the most VMA nominations this year. They will also be performing at this years ceremony. We haven’t seen them able to get out and perform this song before so I am really excited to see what will come. Now while later you are going to see a wish for Gaga’s performance outfit I just picked a look for Ariana to wear if she gives us DRAMA to accept any of the awards she and Gaga are bound to win. I would love to see her grab up this fuchsia pink tulle Ralph & Russo Fall 2020 Couture ballgown which features a sweetheart neckline, asymmetrically micro pleated bustier bodice, and multi-layered voluminous fan frill skirt with cascading train. Camila Cabello is far from someone I get excited to see on the red carpet. She tends to look cheap and disheveled even when she’s wearing couture. It really is her hair that ruins looks for me. I feel like she could deliver good looks, but her pageant princess meets sex hair just doesn’t work for me. To put her on the path to a glamorous moment I started with this dusty sky blue tulle Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture off the shoulder knot draped a-line ball gown. I feel like this gown speaks to Camila’s sexy meets bohemian glam sense of style. I feel like this could be a superb moment for Camila. I feel like maybe the pairing of Camila and Dior, both of whom I usually find very lackluster, could potentially work very well together. Dua Lipa knows how to bring the sexy and I am hoping we will see her take part in the show where she is nominated for 4 awards. I thought going to a British label known for his love of sex was the right choice for Dua. I love this black velvet and lace Christopher Kane Fall 2020 RTW mini dress which features a bralet, cutout underboob, corset style waist, and a flounced a-line skirt and I really do think it would be super sexy glam moment for Dua to wear for an event like the VMA’s. When Lady Gaga is announced as a guest at any event she automatically becomes the person I am most excited to see. I feel like I never know what she will bring to life on the red carpet. I am sad that there will be no actual red carpet for Lady Gaga to grace this year. As I mentioned earlier I hope stars will bring a major fashion moment for both acceptance speeches and performances. Gaga is one of the stars who I actually picked two different looks for starting with that red carpet look for accepting the awards I am sure she will take home this year. It was recently announced that Gaga will front the next Valentino fragrance campaign and so I turned to the Valentino Spring 2020 Couture collection for a major fashion moment for her to bring to life at the VMAs with this baby pink silk and ostrich feather gown. This gown which features that major feathered bodice, a red lined skirt, thigh high split, and a dramatic train is definitely in tune with Gaga’s style. She is one of very, very few stars who I feel like would be able to make this gown really come to life and not let it wear her. Look 1: To kick off the night I picked this gorgeous multi tone green completely beaded column gown which features puffy long sleeves, a collar neck, cutout chest, and a thigh high split from Esé Azénabor a Nigerian born Canadian transplant got to Texas as fast as she could. Hailing from a family who considered fashion design more of a hobby than a career, Esé started designing at the early age of 8 Years old. She had to sweep her creative urges under the rug because her maiden name “Azénabor” was grounded in the fields of medicine, law, and engineering, and she, in turn, attended the University of Windsor in Windsor Ontario, Canada majoring in Accounting. A move to Dallas,TX followed, to pursue a Master’s Degree at Southern Methodist University, detoured to following her dreams and started designing handmade dresses for herself, friends and family. This statement gown is super cool and I would love to see Keke give this gown a major style moment. This platform would allow Keke to give major exposure to brands that don’t have the same level as some of the big legacy houses. Look 2: The second look I’ve picked for Keke is a much more recognizable name with a silver sequined Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh Fall 2020 RTW draped gown which features a ruffled scarf collar asymmetric neckline, and a side split. We know who Virgil is. He’s edgy and as he would say “glamorous.” This silver gown isn’t boundary pushing, I wouldn’t say most of Virgil’s looks are boundary pushing, but it would be a really cool moment for Keke to wear over the course of the VMA’s telecast. Look 6: Sai Sankoh is a young fashion brand blended with vintage style and modern fashion. Created by entrepreneur and luxury fashion consultant Sai Sankoh. Sai is a native from Sierra Leone in West Africa and is deeply inspired by the glamour of the Old Hollywood Era. This bold red ‘Marcella’ asymmetric gown features a single sleeve, a very daring hip high curves cutout split, and a long train is a perfect example of balancing the old Hollywood glamour and modern sex appeal. In terms of design it’s the simplest in terms of idea and construction, but the color and the sex appeal is what will sell this look. I know that Keke can make it happen especially styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of 
I’ve loved everything that Anya Taylor Joy has worn this year. She has a very avant garde spirit and stylist Law Roach has really embraced it. I am most sad that she will not get a major red carpet to rock for this premiere. I know that she and Law would have cooked up something major. When I saw this yellow and white beaded fringe one shoulder Atelier Versace Fall 2020 Couture mini dress which features a sash draped sleeve I knew I found a major moment I feel like Anya would deliver it with a sense of innocence and wood nymph whimsy. It is a little on the sexier side than we are used to seeing from Anya, but I feel like her light innocence would overtake the super sexiness of this dress. Now Maisie Williams knows how to deliver edgy moments on the red carpet, but I went for something a little more feminine and glamorous for her to wear had there been a red carpet premiere for The New Mutants. I saw this rose pink (which looks a little more coral-ly in the image) liquid sequin Markarian Fall 2020 RTW ‘Loulou’ a-line gown which features a belted waist, deep V neckline, floral embellished straps, and a long train and thought it would be a really glam moment for Maisie to wear on the red carpet to promote a blockbuster movie. Starting the list is Senator Kamala Harris, the nominee for Vice President of the United States. She will deliver the Keynote speech on Wednesday to officially accept the nomination for Vice President. I’ve followed Kamala for a while now, but not because of her fashion. So when the announcement came down I did a bit of a dive into what she’s worn for events and as a senator in the Capital to shape what I would love to see her wear. She loves a pantsuit so of course for the speech to accept the nomination I found an amazing pantsuit for Kamala. I love the cut of this grey Altuzarra Fall 2020 RTW melange wool blend suit which feature a wide lapel double breasted blazer and a pair of wide leg pants. It is an interesting take on the classic pantsuit and I feel like it is easily something Kamala would wear. Fashion isn’t what I associate with Dr. Jill Biden. She isn’t a high fashion political spouse, but she always gives us very chic and elegant looks for both more casual and more formal events. I would love to see Dr. Biden wearing two super chic looks for the 2020 Democratic National Convention. For her speech tomorrow night as the potential next First Lady I knew immediately who I would love to see dress Dr. Biden. I feel like she is perfectly slated for Oscar de la Renta and when I saw this 
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to be speaking tomorrow night as well. She has become a huge star since upsetting her district’s long held congressman. She gives major style moments. What I love about her is that she does stay accessible with her fashion. “Get used to me slaying lewks because I am an excellent thrift shopper” AOC has said. When I was looking for the perfect look for her to wear on the stage, wherever it may be, to deliver her DNC speech I knew it had to be accessible. So I went shopping on the virtual racks of Macys.com. Specifically the sale racks. I fell in love with the idea of seeing AOC wearing this 
Former First Lady Michelle Obama will take the virtual stage for the DNC tonight. I always love seeing Michelle because she LOVES to play with fashion. I would love to see her give us a bold fashion moment tonight so I picked this marigold yellow Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 RTW draped dress which features batteau neckline, long bell sleeves, gathered detail on the waist, and a side split. It is a bit of a political statement not because of color, but because it is a black designer and a rising star. In addition to all of the political leaders speaking at the convention the DNC will also have a line up of musical acts that rivals what the VMA’s have already announced. Queer icon and Broadway star Billy Porter is among those who have been announced to perform at this years Democratic Convention. I always love seeing Billy as he serves a look no matter if hes walking a red carpet or joining an interview via Zoom. While I went pretty conservative with the looks I picked for the speakers I’ve picked some real FASHION moments for the performers starting with this major yee-haw meets glam grunge red, white, and blue Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW ensemble for Billy Porter. Billy recently covered Buffalo Springfield’s 1967 protest anthem “For What It’s Worth.” I’m betting that he will be joining Stephen Stills who originally wrote and sang that protest anthem. It would be a great moment. I feel like this now archive fashion moment I would love to see Billy pull it out of the archive and bring it to life. 
Common & John Legend are also going to be performing at the 202 DNC. Now it isn’t confirmed that they are going to perform together, but I would imagine that they will be performing their Oscar and Grammy Award winning song “Glory” from Selma. I decided not to include John this time because of sheer time cuts (I also wasn’t able to include Billie Eilish, Prince Royce, The Chicks, and more it really will be a star studded event) but I wanted to include Common. I’ve always loved seeing she sharp dressed rapper on the red carpet. I love that he isn’t afraid of color or pattern. I gave him that for my wish thanks to this Dzojchen blue and white basket weave single breasted suit with matching shirt. It is a statement suit for sure and I definitely can picture it being something Common would be drawn to. Style it with a pair of 
Vocal powerhouse Jennifer Hudson will also will be performing and I honestly wish I could pick one song to zero in on. She could give us Aretha Franklin performing some of the Queen of Soul’s protest anthems like “Respect,” “A Change Is Gonna Come,” or “People Get Ready” or she could perform her Oscar nominated song “I’ll Fight” from the documentary “RBG.” I’m leaning towards her performing Aretha since she does have the movie where she stars as the late Soul icon. I picked my look for her with Aretha in mind. I LOVE this ice blue sequin Prabal Gurung Resort 2020 one shoulder ruffle gown which features ostrich feather trim and a hip high split. I can say I’m not exactly sure what Maggie Rogers will be performing at the 2020 Democratic Convention. She is one of the few who I’ve actually seen on the official schedule. She will perform tonight before speeches by Senator Bernie Sanders and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
