2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

Check out all these looks I would have loved to see on a red carpet at a regular Critics Choice Awards. The wishes below are a mix of nominees, presenters, and members of productions that are nominated. I am missing all the glamour and drama of awards season, but I am hoping that there are going to be some major fashion moments tonight.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

The Critics Choice Awards are coming up and I cannot wait to see what they will bring. I was excited by the Golden Globes and aside from one star in jammies and a couple of the guys in hoodies everyone put in the effort. I want to see that effort continue all through awards season. The outlook of the world is getting better and better every day and I want to see everyone who is nominated for and attend the Critics Choice Awards put forward maximum effort. In addition to her Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nomination for her role in Emily in Paris Ashley Park will also be a presenter at this years Critics Choice Awards. I hope that she will show up to the studio in person for her presenter duties before she heads back to a hotel room to Zoom into the show for her category. Though they might not even announce this category live. So I really want her to show up and give a BOLD glamour moment. I think that this red chiffon Zuhair Murad Spring 2021 RTW sleeveless gown which features intricate feather inspired beaded embroidery, a plunging neckline, an a-line skirt, and a thigh high split is exactly what I want to see Ashley bring to light on the red carpet. I don’t know much about her style, but I feel like since she is working with major power stylist Erin Walsh that anything is possible. I would love to see Ashley take this super glam gown and boost it up with old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, defined eyes, rose pink glossy lips, a red satin Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ crystal clasp clutch, a pair of red suede Stuart Weitzman ‘Ellsie 100’ strappy sandals, and a selection of Forevermark jewels including white diamond ‘Black Label’ chandelier earrings and a white diamond ‘Exceptional’ double halo set pear shaped cocktail ring. I had picked this powder blue one shoulder Tony Ward Spring 2021 RTW draped jumpsuit with a big bow detail and a train before I saw Gillian Anderson rock Dior Couture for the Golden Globes. I was impressed that I actually feel in loved with Gillian’s Dior moment, and that was a huge shock for me. After that moment this jumpsuit seems beneath her, but with their new PR guy I know that Tony Ward is looking to rebrand as a serious red carpet contender. I feel like it would be a super chic moment for Gillian and one that is out of her usual scope. It is chic and glamorous, but with a twist. This jumpsuit wouldn’t be right for a nominee to wear for most awards season red carpets, but the more laid back vibe of the Critics Choice would make this a great moment for Gillian. I would make it a major glamour moment with a loose updo, defined eyes, pink lips, silver Casadei crystal detailed slingback pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 white diamond heart detail drop earrings. Issa Rae knows how to deliver bold color moments and I would love to see her give another for the Critics Choice Awards where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her show Insecure. I found that color moment in this canary yellow silk faille Oscar de la Renta Resort 2021 sleeveless trumpet gown which features a plunging neckline, big bow detail on the back, and a sweeping train. I’ve loved this gown since the moment I first saw the lookbook and I believe that Issa would easily make it a MAJOR fashion moment for the Critics Choice Awards. A sleek chignon updo, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of gold Le Silla ‘Gwen 120’ mirrored effect ankle strap platform sandals, and a statement vintage white and yellow diamond pendant drop necklace would all make this look come together beautifully. As it is the middle of the night in London when the award shows go live it didn’t surprise me that Olivia Colman opted for more of a comfortable Armani Prive suit for the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. She’s never struck me as a big fashion girl and would much rather be comfortable than glamorous. While it will be a very similar situation this weekend for the Critics Choice Awards where Olivia is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for The Crown and Best Supporting Actress in a Movie for The Father I still turned to a gown. I thought this simple white crepe Jenny Packham Pre-Fall 2021 ‘Ursula’ column gown with an asymmetrically draped short cape and silver sheer crystal embellished sleeves would be a very chic moment for Olivia to wear for the Critics Choice Awards. Now in lockdown I think that Olivia will wear it with her signature short pixie, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of hotel slippers; but had there been an actual red carpet I would have added a white satin Tyler Ellis ‘Piper’ silver hardware detailed clutch, a pair of white leather Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and a bit of dazzling sparkle via vintage white diamond chandelier earrings from Jewellery Discovery. Riz Ahmed skipped out on the Golden Globes, and when you are in the same category as Chadwick Boseman you have to know that the likelihood that you are going to win is slim. That being said I missed seeing what look he would bring to the “red carpet.” I would love to see him Zoom into this weekends Critics Choice Awards wearing this black Givenchy Pre-Fall 2019 tuxedo with a silver zipper detailed “button down” shirt. It is classic with a very subtle edgy twist with that I think would be perfectly in line with Riz’s style. A sleek pair of black box leather Givenchy ‘Austin’ chelsea boots with metal tips and an Omega ‘Speedmaster Skywalker X-33’ watch would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

I am loving awards season being back, even if the stars are zooming into the shows and there aren’t really red carpets. The glamour of it all might not be exactly the same, but it’s better than nothing. I am ready for more events and more looks. I am so over the blah moments and ready for more glamour, more effort, and more DRAMA. The five wishes in today’s Critics Choice Awards series are all glamorous, perfectly fitting for this red carpet, even if it were to happen in person, and I want to see them come to life. I can’t even recall if Annie Murphy was at the Globes on Sunday. I don’t remember seeing her and she didn’t post a look on Instagram. I want to see what she has to offer. She has rocked looks from must have labels like Dior and Valentino so I know she has the pull to get really cool moments. As I was flipping through my archives of images to find the perfect look for Annie I thought that this black cady Versace Pre-Fall 2021 fitted tea length gown which features a sweetheart neckline, bra like straps, and charm embellishments would be a really cool moment for her to bring to life for this red carpet. I feel like it definitely speaks to her sexy and glamorous side especially if styled with a sleek ponytail, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of major black satin Versace sequin embellished platform sandals, and some sparkle via champagne diamond Sutra three pendant drop earrings set in 18k rose gold.Cate Blanchett has skipped out on all of the virtual award shows so far including the Emmy’s and the Golden Globe’s so I am not holding out hope that she will be delivering a moment for the Critics Choice Awards. That isn’t going to stop me from dreaming. I fell in love with this sleek long sleeve gold Alberta Ferretti Fall 2021 RTW column gown which features intricate crystal, sequin, and tinsel fringe embellishments the moment I saw it and when I was thinking about what look I would love to see Cate wearing on this red carpet I knew that this would be a MAJOR moment. I can’t recall Cate ever doing disco glam on the red carpet, but I know that she would definitely be able to shut it down bringing this moment to life. I would let the gown be the focus of the look styling it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, nude pink lips, a pair of gold metallic leather, suede, and mesh Aquazzura ‘Savoy 105’ pointed toe pumps, and simple Pomellato ‘Nudo’ drop earrings in 18k rose and white gold with mother of pearl, white topaz, & white diamonds to really make this a major fashion moment for Cate. Glenn Close wore a simple maroon Lafayette 148 silk suit for the Globes. It wasn’t a boundary pushing moment, but it was chic. She also seemed to debut a horrid blunt bob with bangs that I just don’t love. I just don’t know how this hairstyle will make for any sort of good red carpet moments. That being said I would still like to see her give the effort and try to give us a look to love. I would love to see Glenn wearing this black Carolina Herrera silk chiffon gown which features long sheer sleeves, pleated bodice embellished with hand-embroidered 3D flowers, jewel neckline, and a dramatic train. It is simple, sophisticated, age appropriate, and elegant moment that I think is perfectly in line with Glenn’s style. I don’t know how to re-imagine her hair to make it work, but I would style this look with defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Tasha 100’ glittered mesh pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling white diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection cluster earrings with teardrop pendants I think would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. H.E.R. rocked a cool, but very casual, Valentino Couture look for the Globes. While it was cool I want to see an even more glamorous side to H.E.R.’s sense of style. So as I was looking for the perfect look for her to bring to life on the red carpet for the Critics Choice Awards and I saw this super cool black 16Arlington Fall 2021 RTW ruffled suit and thought it would be the perfect moment. This suit is a very flirty take on the classic pantsuit and I love the feminine rock and roll vibe that it gives off which is exactly what I think of when I think of H.E.R.’s style. I think a sleek hairstyle, smokey eyes behind red and green striped clear acrylic Gucci oversized square sunglasses, bold red lips, a pair of black Tom Ford ‘Disco’ platform curved sculptural heel ankle strap sandals, and a statement Jacob & Co. High Jewelry emerald and white diamond choker necklace would definitely make this a MAJOR fashion moment for H.E.R..Finishing out today is the gorgeous Regina King who was easily one of my Best Dressed at the Golden Globe Awards where she wore one of the best custom Louis Vuitton gowns ever made. I am very excited to see what she will wear all awards season long. She is a major fashion girl and loves to show up and show out. I went for a statement suit moment for her to wear for the Critics Choice red carpet opting for this black Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 tuxedo with a bold fuschia asymmetrical bow detail on the blazer. It is a statement look that I would style with a pulled back hairstyle, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, black Christian Louboutin ‘Victorilla’ strappy pointed toe pumps, and a selection of Vanleles jewels including a pair of ruby halo set white diamond ‘The Nile’ stud earrings, a statement ‘Out of Africa’ white diamond and Mozambican responsibly sourced cabochon rubelite shield cocktail ring, and a simple ‘The Nile’ pave set white diamond band ring to really make sure this look comes together perfectly.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

I am still riding a glamour high from Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, but I am definitely moving forward to this weekends Critics Choice Awards. If this past weekend said anything it just proved that stars are ready to get dressed up and have some fun, even if they are still joining the shows virtually. I definitely am keeping that in mind when it comes to picking looks for the nominees for this weekends Critics Choice Awards. While we eventually get a great floor length look via social media we really only see the stars from the waist up. So all these looks are visually beautiful especially from the waist up. I will say I loved Carey Mulligan’s Prada gown at the Globes in the Zoom setting, but in the full length I wasn’t a huge fan of it all. I want Carey to consistently bring major fashion moments this awards season. So for this weekends Critics Choice Awards I turned to Prada, once again. Now I will say that I had already picked this blue and black beaded and fringe Prada high low flapper gown for Carey long before she showed up in Prada this weekend, and I’ve decided to continue to run with it. I thought of pulling this gown after seeing Dua Lipa pull some of the costumes Prada made for The Great Gatsby for one of her music videos. I honestly had never thought about putting the fabulous creations in wishes before. I was kind of hesitant to do it for Carey since she was one of the stars of the film, but then I asked myself why I was and I couldn’t give myself a good answer. This gown wasn’t worn by any of the main cast members and was just worn by an extra in one of the party scenes and I feel like it deserves a major red carpet moment. I think that styling this gown with a loose wavy bob, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of major black trimmed silver glitter Miu Miu t-strap chunky heel sandals, and antique Fred Leighton old mine white diamond tassel pendant earrings would definitely make this a major fashion moment for Carey. Emma Corrin’s winning Golden Globes look was a custom Miu Miu gown inspired by vintage clowns. It was a look that’s for sure. I can’t say I loved it, but I want Emma to give me fashion and glamour for the Critics Choice Awards this weekend. I would love to see Emma, who debuted a much shorter hairstyle, wear this black satin Chanel Pre-Fall 2021 column gown with a dramatic train and a crystal embellished bodice. I would definitely say that this gown is glamour defined and I feel it would be a superb moment for her to bring to life. I would love to see her edge this look up taking her short boyish cut and giving it a punky styling, thick kohl rimmed eyes, glossy nude pink lips, a pair of black Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ strappy crystal heel sandals, and a white diamond DeBeers ‘Radiating Lotus’ white diamond collar necklace.Maria Bakalova had one of my favorite gowns at the Globes wearing a gorgeous raspberry red Armani Prive crystal embellished strapless ballgown. I didn’t really know what to expect and whatever expectations were in my mind were blown away. I actually ended up dropping the Dior Couture tea length gown I originally had picked for Maria for these wishes and went for something that I feel is a little more fashiony with this blush to wine ombre Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 one shoulder tea length dress which features intricate drape details, exposed corset, and an a-line skirt. I love a great McQueen moment and I know her stylist Jessica Paster does too so I could definitely see this being a look that she would put on the rack for Maria. I think that taking this dress and styling it with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of hot pink Manolo Blahnik ‘Selunga’ buckle detailed silk slingback sandals, and dazzling pink sapphire and ruby Lorraine Schwartz drop earrings would definitely give Maria another amazing fashion moment this virtual awards season. My wish for Ma Rainey herself Viola Davis to wear for the Critics Choice Awards is a complete 180 from the custom African print Lavie by Claude Kameni gown she wore for the Globes. I was obsessed with that whole moment and I love that Viola went there. For the Critics Choice Awards I went with the archive fashion route picking this simple yet very glamorous black chiffon Michael Kors Spring 2005 RTW one shoulder gown which features intricate draping on the bodice and an floating a-line skirt. I’ve always loved seeing Viola in Michael Kors on the red carpet and I feel like this gown is definitely something she would be drawn to. I would nod to a black designer in this look choosing to style this gown with Vanleles jewels including a pair of ‘Out of Africa’ rose gold set white diamond and Mozambican responsibly sourced ruby and rubelite fan drop earrings, a yellow gold ‘The Nile’ sculptural pave set white diamond necklace, and an ‘Out of Africa’ rose gold set white diamond and Mozambican responsibly sourced ruby and rubelite cocktail ring to add a pop of color to this look. A natural pulled back tight curl hairstyle, smokey eyes, glossy black cherry red lips, a gold Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ snakeskin embossed clutch, and a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Misty 120’ ankle strap sandals would add the perfect finishing touches to this moment. Headed into the nomination this year Zendaya’s performance in Malcolm & Marie was buzzing a lot for different nominations. When the Globe and SAG Awards were announced I hadn’t seen the film yet and I was so mad that neither nominated Zendaya. That being said, I just didn’t love the film. It wasn’t about her performance because it was stellar, but it was a great performance with no substance from the script. It left me wanting more. I will say that even in spite of my feelings I was happy to see the Critics Choice Awards nominate Zendaya. Not only did they nominate her for Best Actress, but they will be honoring her with the #SeeHer Award. So we know that we are going to see Zendaya in some way on Sunday night. I hope that she heads to the studio where the host and presenters will gather to accept the #SeeHer Award and do so in high style. I went full feminine glam picking this flamingo pink chiffon Georges Hobeika Spring 2020 Couture asymmetrically draped gown. I was looking for the perfect look and this was really the only one that spoke to me. I know that she would know exactly how to work this gown to really bring it to life perfectly. Taking this gown and adding a sleek bun updo, defined winged soft smokey eyes, glossy deep taupe lips, a pair of light pink Casadei platform ankle strap sandals, and MAJOR white diamond Yeprem High Jewelry ‘Gravity’ cluster meets fringe drop earrings would definitely make this the absolutely major moment I am craving from Zendaya.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

So the Golden Globes were last night and I have to say that even though I went into it with low expectations I was quite happy with what we ended up seeing. While all of the nominees, and a few of the presenters, joined the show via Zoom it still felt very normal. It has me excited for the rest of awards season. Several of the people in this set of wishes took home trophy’s last night and I cannot wait to see what they wear for the Critics Choice awards this coming weekend. Kicking things off today is Anya Taylor Joy who took home the Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie award last night for her performance in The Queen’s Gambit. She did so wearing a custom emerald green vintage inspired Christian Dior Couture look. I want to see Anya take to the Critics Choice Awards where she is nominated for the same award giving us fairy glam wearing this lavender Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture sleeveless feathered skater dress with a high neck and a dramatic chiffon cape. I so would not pick this dress for any other person for a major film/tv awards red carpet, but Anya’s sprite like elegance just spoke to me when I saw this dress. Out of any of the awards Anya is, or could be, nominated for the Critics Choice is really the only one where this dress would work. I would let the dress be the statement of this moment styling the gown with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, glossy nude pink lips, a pair of silver Roger Vivier ‘Marlene Strass’ ankle strap sandals, and simple halo set Norman Silverman emerald cut white diamond stud earrings. Catherine O’Hara was also a big winner last night picking up the Best Actress in a Comedy Series trophy wearing a custom rose print Vera Wang suit. Now compared to that this black and red AZ Factory Spring 2021 RTW long sleeve gown which features a drop waist, exposed zipper, and a full pleated ball skirt is like 3x as glamorous. I will say the first thing I thought when I saw this gown was that it was too similar to the custom Schiaparelli Couture gown that Lady Gaga wore for the Inauguration of President Joe Biden that it would never be worn, but when I thought of Catherine wearing this gown I thought it would be perfect. Now I really do wish that Catherine would bring a super dramatic glamour moment to life. I feel like her wearing this gown would feel perfect. Style it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, an pair of black crystal embellished mesh Sergio Rossi ‘SR1’ pointed toe pumps, and a statement sugarloaf cabochon chalcedony, hexagonal white agate hoop, carnelian plaque, brilliant-cut diamond, and 18K gold David Webb retro inspired link necklace and It would scream glamour from head to toe. Leslie Odom Jr. might not have taken home a Golden Globe last night but he served up a LOOK. His stylist Avo had him as one of the first gentleman to wear a Valentino Couture look that is pretty much hot off the runway. I won’t like and say I thought it would have been more apt for a red carpet like the Critics Choice or the SAG Awards, but it was a really freaking cool look. Now with that in mind I would love to see him keep up taking sartorial risks turning to the bad boy of menswear Thom Browne for this look for this weekends Critics Choice Awards. I love this black shrunken tuxedo paired with a crisp white shirt and black bow tie. It is basically a classic tuxedo, but done so with shrunken proportions. It’s cool and elegant. I definitely can see Leslie rocking this look and honestly the only thing I would change about the styling is swapping the plain black oxfords for a pair of black and white Thom Browne woven leather brogues. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Uzo Aduba on a red carpet. I hate that lockdown stole the promo tour from Mrs. America from us and is stealing awards season red carpets from us. I will say that after last night I am more hopeful that stars will dress up and have fun and serve glamour this awards. I have always felt that Uzo gives her best looks when she is wearing bold solid colors and so when I was looking for the perfect Critics Choice Awards gown for her I fell in love with the idea of seeing her in this fuschia silk Alberta Ferretti Resort 2021 one shoulder draped gown. It is glamorous and I just feel like it would flow over her gorgeous curves beautifully. I would take this gown and style it with a bun of braids, defined eyes, nude lips, a fuchsia crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Slide’ clutch, fuschia pink Amina Muaddi ‘Romy 95’ crystal trimmed scalloped edge pointed toe pumps, and dazzling Anabela Chan chandelier earrings in 18k rose gold vermeil with 18k gold earring posts, hand-set with an array of laboratory-grown synthesised and simulated gemstones including rubies, pink and orange sapphires with rose tourmalines to ensure that this look screams colorful glamour from head to toe for Uzo. Vanessa Kirby closes out today’s wishes. I know that Vanessa has a very simple and sleek approach to dressing, but I want her to put on some beads and crystals and really dazzle us. So I would love to see the Best Actress nominee wearing this black fully beaded Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2021 Couture strapless bustier gown with intricate floral detail, draped hips with fringe, and a thigh high split. It is old Hollywood glamour at its best and I know that it would be an absolutely perfect moment for Vanessa to wear for a red carpet like the Critics Choice Awards. I would make this look scream glamour styling it with a sleek hairstyle tucked behind her ears, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of strappy black Christian Louboutin ‘Tarlatarte’ PVC detailed strappy sandals, and dazzling white diamond and ruby Amwaj chandelier earrings.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

We are just a couple of hours away from the Golden Globes “red carpet” however that will look exactly, but before that carpet starts I have some wishes I want to put into the universe for next weekends Critics Choice Awards. We know that this years show will be much like the Globes tonight where the host and presenters are expected live, but all the nominees will join the show remotely. I just hope that people take the approach of getting dressed up to join the show from home like Zendaya and Tracee Ellis Ross did for the Emmy’s last year. I don’t want to see stars in pajamas all awards season long. It was a cute trope for the Emmy’s, but it’s one that will get real old real fast. So you aren’t going to see any pajamas here. I really can’t believe that Amanda Seyfried has been an awards season fixture for a while now, but is just now earning her first nominations. She always brings drama and glamour to the red carpet with looks that are visually interesting. I’ve kept to a very subdued color palate for Amanda so far this awards season with the Elie Saab Couture gown I picked for her to wear for the Golden Globes and the vintage Prada dress I used for my AFI Awards wish. I decided to keep that soft palate theme going with this dusty mauve Antonio Grimaldi Spring 2021 Couture strapless gown which features an asymmetrical bead embroidered neckline, a wave of ostrich feathers, and a column silhouette. I feel like Antonio Grimaldi could be a major red carpet force if the brand put the same effort into VIP PR as it does in paying the different Vogue’s around the world to feature the collections on their websites. This gown is classic yet boundary pushing all at the same time. It is all party on the top and classic on the bottom. I feel that this gown is perfect for the Critics Choice Awards where we don’t often see big couture gowns and stars take some risks. Since Amanda is nominated for the first time I wanted to make sure it was a moment befitting a nominee and I think this would be perfection. Style this gown with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, deep mauve lips, a pair of nude satin Aquazzura ‘Bow Tie’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a pair of delicate pink morganite and white diamond Tiffany & Co. gold scroll set teardrop earrings and I know that Amanda would deliver the moment I am craving. Now I know I just said that most stars give more of a simplistic look on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet, but I don’t think that Cynthia Erivo knows the definition of simple. She really is a magpie who loves to give us DRAMA and GLAMOUR. She’s been one of the stars during lockdown that has consistently shown up and shown out with major fashion moments. So should we see her during the Critics Choice Awards telecast, where she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, I want to see her bring that same vibe to the stage or screen. I turned to the archives of Vera Wang to pull out this black strapless gown from the brands Spring 2016 Bridal collection which features a built in bustier, tummy cutout, dramatic ostrich feather skirt, a thigh high split, and a long train to find that moment. It is a perfect balance of sexy, glamour, modernity, and drama and I know that Cynthia would be a perfect person to bring this look out of the archive. Her signature bleach blonde shaved head, defined smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Wildcat Black Panther’ minaudiere, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Mini Broche Vivier’ crystal buckle peep toe platform sandals with a crystal embellished clear lucite chunky heel, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection fringe choker would make sure that Cynthia is delivered that dramatic glamour from head to toe. I almost changed my wish for Dan Levy to wear for the Critics Choice Awards this morning after seeing a major piece of Boucheron jewelry I want him to wear, but I decided I’m going to hold onto that for a future wish. I went for a really wild and statement making menswear moment for Dan to wear for the Critics Choice Awards red carpet next weekend. I saw this black, gold, and green leaf print Libertine Fall 2021 RTW tuxedo during New York Fashion Week: Digital and fell in love with it. I would definitely add this to my personal wardrobe and I think that Dan could really bring this look to the Critics Choice Awards. Should we have to work with Dan Zooming into the show to most likely collect his Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series trophy I feel like this look would POP on the screen. I think that styling this suit with the white shirt and big bow tie from the lookbook adding thick black frame glasses and a pair of black velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Marpyramide’ loafers with gold square studs on the heels would put this look together perfectly. Jurnee Smollett Bell is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series and I really want to see what she will bring to the red carpet. Having looked at some of her past red carpet looks I know that she could bring some really major drama and avant garde moments to the red carpet. I’ve included her in some of my posts for events where her show Lovecraft Country has been nominated or honored. I did a bold ADEAM suit for the AFI Awards and a LBV gown for the Globes, but for the Critics Choice where she is actually nominated I wanted a true major glamour moment. I knew immediately as I was putting this list together that I wanted to use this intricately black beaded Nicholas Jebran Fall 2020 Couture gown which features a strapless structured bustier, dramatic plunging sweetheart neckline, portrait sleeves, defined waist, wrap style column skirt, and a super sexy thigh high split was what I wanted to use to give Jurnee a major glamour moment. I would make sure this look screams glamour from head to toe styling it with a sleek avant garde retro inspired updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Jewel Queen 100’ ankle strap and crystal embellished bow detailed sandals, and a statement Bayco ‘Magnificent’ collection collar necklace featuring 31.76 carats of Colombian emeralds and 74.09 carats of white diamonds. Finishing out today’s wishes is the always beautiful Tessa Thompson. I always love seeing Tessa get dressed up. She has served up looks while promoting projects like Passing and Sylvie’s Love in lockdown. The latter is where she earns her Critics Choice Award nomination this year. I was surprised that Amazon Studios decided to run Sylvie’s Love in the Television category instead of film, but it gave Tessa her only nomination this awards season. So with that in mind I wanted to pick something superb for her to wear for the Critics Choice Awards “red carpet” this year. I was in my couture archives and when I saw this silver and gold stretch Schiaparelli Spring 2021 Couture long sleeve gown which features a high neck, fitted silhouette, and over 100,00 Swarovski crystals covering the entire body I knew it was perfect for Tessa. I can just imagine how the stretch fit of this couture gown would hug all of Tessa’s curves and I know that she would work it from head to toe. To make this major moment even more major I would add a bun of braids, defined eyes, deep mauve matte lips, a pair of gold Tom Ford ‘Padlock’ metallic leather ankle strap sandals, a selection of major Mateo New York jewels including 14k gold set ‘Sunset’ citrine and white diamond geometric drop earrings, 14k gold set citrine and white diamond ‘Point of Focus’ coil ring, an ‘East West’ chunky citrine cocktail ring, a geometric 14k gold set white diamond ‘The Gift’ ring, and a 14k gold set ‘Secret Diamond Initial’ crystal quartz ring with a T initial halo set in white diamonds.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Even though the Golden Globes haven’t happened yet I am moving on to the next red carpet which will be the Critics Choice Awards which is next Sunday. Unlike when I started my Globes wishes we know the format that the 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 26th annual Critics Choice Awards show will be an in-person/virtual hybrid, with this years host Taye Diggs and some of the evening’s presenters filming from a stage in Los Angeles, and nominees appearing remotely from various locations around the world. As I plan these wishes I am filling them with all the stars nominated on both the film and television side, but I may change things up over the course of the week adding presenters and moving some of the nominees to the roundup post like I did earlier today for the Golden Globe Awards. But, let’s kick things off in high style with 5 major looks for nominees shall we?Andra Day is nominated for Best Actress thanks to her performance in The United States vs Billie Holiday. Because of her very bold vintage inspired/rockabilly style I knew that at some point in my wishes for Andra that I wanted to include something vintage. When I saw this navy and black 1950’s Pierre Balmain Haute Couture beaded organza and silk column gown from Morphew with features halter straps, a high low hem, and a very little train I knew it would be a perfect look for the Critics Choice Awards. This red carpet is usually one of the more laid back events and I think that the simplicity of the silhouette is perfect. I have to say I love seeing vintage Pierre Balmain on the red carpet. The DNA of the house of Balmain is so different than the sex pot glam that we know the house to be now and every time someone pulls out vintage Balmain it really makes for great red carpet moments. I think of Penelope Cruz at the 2009 Oscars and Kristin Davis at the 2020 White House Correspondents Dinner as perfect examples. This very 50’s silhouette, styled with a sleek victory rolls updo, saturated blue smokey eyes with sharp winged liner, bold red glossy lips, a black Holt Renfrew fox fur cape stole with rhinestones, a pair of black satin Givenchy ‘Double G 105’ pointed toe strappy pumps, and a selection of high jewelry from Gismondi 1754 including white diamond ‘Ghiaccio’ floral waterfall earrings and a one of a kind white diamond and sapphire cocktail ring would be an absolutely phenomenal moment for Andra to rock for the Critics Choice Awards. Claire Danes earned her 2021 Critics Choice Awards nomination once again thanks to her role as Carrie Matheson in Homeland. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Claire on an awards red carpet for this series and I would absolutely love to see her giving us a super feminine moment wearing this light blue Oscar de la Renta Resort 2021 lace ball gown which features a tie shoulder, ‘square’ neckline, defined waist, and an a-line skirt. It is all about the soft feminine glamour with this look and that would need to have that same elegant femininity in the styling. I would finish this look with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of nude Casadei ‘Felina’ strappy ankle strap sandals, and delicate white diamond Cartier ‘Pluie de Cartier’ feather inspired drop earrings to really make it scream feminine glamour from head to toe.So far in my awards wishes this year for Josh O’Connor I’ve picked intriguing looks from Dior Men & Fendi Couture for him to bring to life on this season red carpets. Continuing with my run of interesting choices for Josh I would have the Best Actor in a Drama Series nominee wearing this ivory Givenchy Pre-Fall 2021 tuxedo which features short peak lapels, pin clasp closure, lengthened hem blazer, and a pair of straight leg trousers. It is a cool look and I definitely think that it would be something that Josh would bring to for this red carpet, even if it a virtual one. I would keep the runway styling just leaving the bag at home and hemming the trousers so there is no pooling at the ankle. Julia Garner has done both the big heritage brand thing and the rising star thing. So I would love to see her do the rising star thing for the Critics Choice Awards after the Burberry gown I want to see her bring to life for the Golden Globes. I must be in a blue feeling for Julia because I would adore seeing her wearing this navy pleated chiffon Rhude Fall 2021 RTW halter gown which features major draping. It is modern, yet glamorous and I feel like it would be a really cool girl moment for her to bring to life. A sleek finger wave updo to really play into the modern flapper vibe of this look, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a navy crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture slim rectangle clutch, a pair of navy glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Misty 120’ ankle strap sandals, and white diamond set in platinum Tiffany & Co. multi-cut drop earrings would make this moment glamorous from head to toe. The last look today is for Shira Haas who I’ve done nothing but Chanel looks for all awards season long and I am not changing that idea any time soon. While I am almost always against brand ambassadors and consistently wearing looks from the same designer all the time I feel like Shira is the perfect ambassador for Chanel. She has a look that we don’t often see from the brand, but her edgy youthfulness works for the brand in a way that other Chanel ambassadors don’t. So as I was looking at looks for Shira to wear for the Critics Choice Awards I thought that this black and white liberty floral print halter gown from the Chanel Spring 2021 RTW collection which features a high halter neck with a pussy bow detail, loose fit blouse, fitted waist, and a high low fishtail skirt would be a perfect choice. This look meshes old Hollywood glamour, 70’s disco, and bohemia and meshes them all together perfectly. I feel like Shira would definitely be the perfect person to bring this look from the runway to real life especially if styled with her shaved head, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, black crystal embellished Rene Caovilla ankle strap sandals, and a pair of dazzling Cartier High Jewelry ‘Dioscures’ white diamond chandelier ear cuffs.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021.

2020 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List

The 2020 Critics Choice Awards are slated to take place tomorrow night at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California. This red carpet bridges the weekends between the Golden Globe Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Historically this red carpet is a little more laid back than the Globes and even the SAG’s, but given the low level of “go big or go home” at the Globes (save a few major gowns even if I didn’t love them) I am hoping that stars are planning some major moments on this red carpet. While many of the nominees convey from the Globes to the SAG’s there are also some differences and I know that there are going to be several faces making their first awards season appearance tomorrow night. I am definitely excited to see what will come from this red carpet. Below are the 35 looks I want to see from nominees, presenters, plus ones, and guests of nominated projects. I don’t expect a red carpet filled with 100+ big a-list stars but I want everyone who does attend to deliver major moments on the red carpet. Which of the looks below do you think would make the best moment for this red carpet?

2019 Television Critics Association Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Before we start getting into multiple day wish lists tomorrow I have a list for one of the smaller awards events that is coming up. The Television Critics Association Awards are an awards show that I typically gloss over and if the nominees had been any less fabulous than they were this year I would have skipped right over this list. It has only one acting category and I definitely think that the winner is invited in advance. I don’t know if we can expect to see all the stars on this list at the event since they are all from just two categories. Despite that fact I definitely have some wishes for the ladies nominated to bring to life on this red carpet. Here we go!Amy Adams is nominated for her performance in Sharp Objects. I was honestly expecting to see Amy sweep awards season and then finish with an Emmy for her role in the HBO mini series, but it seems Amy’s curse is upon her and she is being passed over for wins yet again. If she isn’t going to win the trophy I at least want to see her win the red carpet. For the Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards I went with a classic Amy shape with this strapless Brandon Maxwell pencil tea length dress which features frayed trip on the neckline, but it does it in a very different way for her being rendered in black and white animal print silk. I know that the cheetah print isn’t usually something that Amy would wear on a red carpet, but I think that the chic silhouette and the fact it is all black and white that this gown would work perfectly for this red carpet. Sleek old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a black satin Christian Louboutin ‘Palmette’ clutch, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Follies’ embellishes lace mesh pointed toe pumps, and Hueb ‘Luminous’ diamond cluster earrings are what I would add to this look to make sure that this look is absolute perfection for Amy from head to toe. Jodie Comer from Killing Eve is one I am really excited to see on the red carpet this fall. Her journey to the Emmy’s is expected to start at the TCA Awards and I just hope her fashion choices are better than they have been. I haven’t liked looks from labels like Ralph & Russo and Giambattista Valli that Jodie has worn this year and honestly it shocks me. She is an absolutely gorgeous woman and those are some of my favorite labels, but the looks from them that she has chosen have done her no favors. I want to see her deliver some uber chic moments on the red carpet in the coming weeks and this is the red carpet where that journey should start. Now for this red carpet I decided to stick with the more feminine and bohemian styles that Jodie has embraced for many of her looks this year opting for this antique white Brock Collection Resort 2020 lace and organza peplum midi dress which features a ruffled bustier top, peplum waist, ties at back, and thin straps. I believe that it is the perfect look for Jodie as it will still fit her figure. Many of her looks have overwhelmed her frame, but this look would not. A loose romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of gold Aquazzura ‘Oscar C’ mirrored leather criss-cross sandals, and Hanut Singh ‘Lotus Buds’ drop earrings which feature green amethysts, diamonds, and vintage pearls with gold chain detailing would all make this the perfect flirty and feminine bohemian moment for Jodie to bring to life on this red carpet. I go back and forth about whether or not I am excited to see Michelle Williams on the red carpet this fall awards season. She is a loyal devotee to Louis Vuitton, and often times I find her looks underwhelming but I am hopeful that as one of the “movie stars” nominated for her performance on Television that will mean she brings super chic “movie star” moments to the red carpet in the coming weeks. Now typically the TCA Awards red carpet is more of a laid back cocktail or simplistic gown moment. As you can see in this list I have gone more for a cocktail moment for everyone, until now. Over the summer so far my photoshop wiz Evita has been slaying the days creating all kinds of custom fashion moments for me to use for the next several months. I had her keep Michelle in mind as I figured that she would be seen a lot over the coming weeks as her performance in Fosse/Verdon is being celebrated. I was sitting at my desk at my day job as Evita was sending me her edits and when I saw this custom Louis Vuitton Cruise 2020 metallic lurex gown which features an embellished neckline, Chrysler building inspired print on the bodice, and and a simple silhouette I got really excited. It is an absolutely glamorous moment and I feel like it would make for a chic moment for Michelle to wear on this red carpet. She doesn’t really breathe life into gowns so they have to do a lot of the work for her and I definitely think that this gown would be able to do the work. Finish it with a sleek side parted pixie, thick defined eyes, red lips, black Louis Vuitton ‘Overnight’ crystal embellished monogram chain strap platform sandals, and a pair of Louis Vuitton High Jewelry ‘Le Royaume’ diamond drop earrings and I definitely believe that Michelle will have a very glamorous moment on her hands. Natasha Lyonne is one star I am really excited to see on the red carpets in the coming weeks. The red head knows how to rock a suit on the red carpet. I have been going back and forth on whether or not to pick a pants look for her to wear for the Emmy Awards, but it was an easy choice to do it for her for the TCA Awards. I love this sharp black Ronald Van Der Kemp Fall 2019 Couture suit which features wide lapels, strong pointed shoulders, big pockets, and flared leg pants and definitely think it would be something cool for Natasha to wear for this red carpet. I would add a sleek sheer black satin Ralph Lauren button down structured shirt, a black satin The Row ‘The Ascot’ top handle evening clutch, a pair of black Malone Souliers ‘Marguerite’ pointed toe mules, and Anita Ko ‘Rain Drop’ diamond fringe earrings to really make this look perfect for Natasha to bring to life on this red carpet.

The 2019 Television Critics Association Awards will take place on Saturday August 3, 2019.

Best Dressed at the 2019 Critics Choice Awards

Last night at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica was the second major red carpet of the year, the Critics Choice Awards. The race to the Oscars is definitely in full swing and the stars are delivering major moments. Last night had to be one of my favorite Critics Choice Awards red carpets ever and that’s despite the fact that the cast of The Favourite wasn’t there. Could there be Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment on this list? I do love many of them so anything is possible. 1) Viola Davis in custom Michael Kors: Topping this years list is the gorgeous Viola Davis. It has been a long time since I have really loved one of Viola’s red carpet moments and last night she reminded me why I love her. She rocked a bronze sequin custom Michael Kors one shoulder gown which features a draped bodice and a mermaid silhouette last night as she presented Claire Foy with the #SeeHer Award, which Viola won last year. It was such a glamour moment. I am praying we see more major glamour moments from her soon. 2) Lady Gaga in custom Calvin Klein by Appointment: Every time Lady Gaga steps out she blows me away. I loved the dramatic simplicity of the soft peach sherbet custom Calvin Klein by Appointment loose fit gown. Sometimes these loose fitting gowns don’t work because the wearer can get lost in all the extra fabric. Gaga had no issues with that. I did like that she didn’t match her hair to her gown like she did at the Golden Globe Awards. She tied in the Best Actress category last night with Glenn Close and I think that just proves that this is a two horse race. Gaga brings the drama and this look just proved why I love her.

3) Emmy Rossum in Ralph Lauren Fall 2018 RTW: Emmy Rossum plays the role of the perfect plus one perfectly. She has always been one of my favorite ladies to see on the red carpet. She showed me why once again on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards last night wearing a gorgeous deep cranberry red velvet Ralph Lauren Fall 2018 RTW gown which features a dramatic plunging neckline and a chic a-line skirt. The whole sexy vibe of this gown really made me fall in love with it and her styling and beauty just really ensured that this was a really glamorous statement moment on the red carpet.

4) Patricia Clarkson in Georges Chakra Fall 2018 RTW: Another major red carpet another major moment from Patricia Clarkson. The Sharp Objects star knows how to deliver the perfect mixture of drama, glamour, and sex appeal and I always get excited to see what she will deliver on the red carpet. Last night she gave a perfect showing of that mixture wearing a black Georges Chakra Fall 2018 Couture long sleeve gown which features a plunging neckline, beaded embellishments, sheer paneled back, a fit and flare silhouette, and a center split. She just exuded femme fatale glamour and I was buying everything she was selling. 5) Emily Blunt in custom Prada: Emily Blunt was practically perfect from head to toe last night wearing a white custom Prada gown which featured crystal beading on the halter neckline and scattered through the whole of the gown, a column skirt, and a keyhole cutout. It was a beautiful and glamorous moment and Emily really sold it to me. She tends to be her best when she goes for more simplistic styles and that is what this gown was. The chic waves, simple makeup, and her crystal embellished accessories added the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

6) John Legend in Ermenegildo Zenga XXX: Last night was a really major night for menswear on the red carpet. John Legend was just one of the guys who took a fashion risk. I loved his rust brown Ermenegildo Zenga XXX couture patterned silk suit which featured a one button double breasted jacket that he paired with a chocolate brown turtleneck and oxfords. It all made him look like a snack from head to toe. Everything about the look from the color to the texture just worked perfectly with John’s complexion and I can’t think of another guy who could have sold it to me with the effortless swag that he did.

7) Timothee Chalamet in Alexander McQueen Spring 2019 Menswear: Speaking of effortless swag I can’t laud John without also lauding Timothee Chalamet. He always brings his a-game to the red carpet and he showed everyone why I love him last night wearing a multicolored brushstroke print Alexander McQueen Spring 2019 Menswear silk suit. Again this is a suit that I really can’t imagine many being able to pull this off, but Timmy does it with ease. I love that he continues to shun ties on the red carpet instead opting for t-shirts. He also rocked a pair of sneakers. I usually don’t get behind sneakers on the red carpet, especially in a formal setting, but Timothee really just made it work. 8) Mandy Moore in custom Michael Kors: There was a lot of white on the red carpet last night. Mandy Moore gave us the most modern white moment wearing a custom white fully sequined Michael Kors column gown which features long sleeves, side cutouts, and a belted waist. It wasn’t something I would expect from Mandy and I definitely think that she was able to sell it to me. She rocked the sleek, modern glamour from head to toe and did it well.

9) Laura Harrier in custom Louis Vuitton: On the opposite side of the white gown spectrum Laura Harrier brought us old Hollywood glamour on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet wearing a chic starburst embellished custom Louis Vuitton gown which features long sleeves, a plunging neckline, twist detail, and a column silhouette. Laura was the first major gown on the red carpet and I have to say I doubted if this was Louis Vuitton for a moment. It reminded me of some Prada and Miu Miu details that I have seen and it just didn’t have any of the typical LV signatures. I think that’s what makes me love it more. It wasn’t what I would have expected from Louis Vuitton and Laura looked absolutely beautiful in his creation.

10) Michelle Yeoh in Marchesa Pre-Fall 2019: Rounding out the list is the gorgeous Michelle Yeoh. I have long been a fan of the Chinese actress and I am so happy that she brought the glamour to the red carpet last night. I have been waiting for a real important star to wear a Marchesa gown on the red carpet this awards season and Michelle delivered it last night at the Critics Choice Awards wearing this red one shoulder cape caftan style gown. I loved it. It was a very glamorous moment and Michelle just wore it with effortless ease. It got me really excited to see her the rest of awards season.
