2020 Venice Film Festival: “Mandibules” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

After being rumored to be in contention for the Cannes Film Festival (I even did wishes for it) and then not being selected Mandibules will screen at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. The film is about two simple-minded friends whom discover a giant fly in the trunk of a car and decide to domesticate it to earn money with it. Now it sounds like an absolutely stupid idea for a movie, but with Adele Exarchopoulos among the cast I do still hope that the red carpet delivers some major fashion moments on the red carpet. I definitely love the Patou and Valentino moments I picked for Adele Exarchopoulos to wear had this film screened in Cannes earlier this year and both of those looks are still available. So we could definitely see her rock both of them in Venice. They would be great, but I decided to go back to the drawing board and pick two new looks for Adele. Let’s start with this pink floral print Giambattista Valli Fall 2020 RTW drape cap sleeve gown which features ruched bodice and a flared hem for the films photocall. I love how sickly sweet this look is. That isn’t something Adele does very often, but I definitely think that this gown would be gorgeous on her with a sleek ponytail updo, defined eyes, blush pink lips, and a pair of bubblegum pink Gucci knotted metallic leather strappy sandals. For the premiere I turned to Miu Miu which usually has a big presence at the film festival, but it doesn’t seem like it will have as big of one this year. I would definitely love to see Adele wearing a custom version of this bold red Miu Miu Pre-Fall 2020 sleeveless column gown which features a side split and intricate lattice beading adding a train for some much needed DRAMA for the Lido red carpet. Styling this 60’s inspired gown with a teased beehive updo, defined eyes, red lips, a silver crystal embellished Miu Miu ‘Ayers’ clutch, a pair of silver Miu Miu crystal embellished slingback ankle strap pointed toe pumps, and ethical 18-carat white gold set Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond drop earrings with heart-shaped (14.4cts), marquise-cut (2.9cts) and brilliant-cut diamonds would definitely make this a MAJOR fashion moment for Adele to wear on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. Cate Blanchett has definitely made a splash in the past re-wearing red carpet looks. At the 2018 Cannes Film Festival she re-wore the Armani Prive gown first worn to the 2014 Golden Globe Awards (it made my Best Dressed of the Year list the first time), she’s also re-worn a major Armani Prive jumpsuit and am edgy Aoudi Couture dress that has tattoo sleeves. She told The Hollywood Reporter of her decision to repeat garments, “From couture to T-shirts, landfills are filled with garments that have been unnecessarily discarded. Particularly in today’s climate, it seems willful and ridiculous that such beautiful garments are not cherished and reworn for a lifetime.” So with such a major red platform I knew I wanted to pick a gown I would love to see Cate bring to life on the red carpet again. This teal blue custom Armani Prive cap sleeve column gown has always been one of my favorite Cate Blanchett red carpet moments. She wore this gown sneaking in the side door to a party honoring the Chopard Trophy recipients in 2014 with a gorgeous pink rosebud Chopard necklace. It was one of the looks in my final round of cuts for Best Dressed of the Year in 2014. I would love to see her give this gown a re-wear on a MAJOR red carpet. For Venice I would love to see Cate style this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, bold pink lips, art deco inspired silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Freesia’ strappy metallic leather sandals, and major statement paraiba tourmaline and emerald drop earrings from the Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020. As the founder of Decade Vintage Cameron Silver would say “it’s chic to repeat” and this look would be chic defined. After taking a quick break with a Gucci ready to wear look I am back with couture looks for Ludivine Sagnier to wear over the course of her time as a jury member at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. I do really want to see lots of bold color on the red carpet in Venice and this jade green silk faille strapless Valentino Spring 2020 Couture mermaid gown which features a sweetheart neckline, cross draped bustier bodice, and a kick pleat skirt would definitely make my heart sing. It is a bolder look for Ludivine, but I want to see her really have fun with fashion at this years Venice Film Festival. Now while I love the bow detailed opera gloves the gown was paired with on the runway I wouldn’t style them with this look for Ludivine. Instead I would style this look with a romantic updo, defined eyes, nude pink glossy lips, a gold Valentino starburst metal box clutch, a pair of gold Valentino chain detail metallic strap sandals, and a STATEMENT Bulgari ‘Barocko’ collection 18k gold set ‘Lady Arabesque’ paraiba tourmaline, pink sapphire, and white diamond bib necklace to really make this look major for Ludivine. I’ve started being fantastical with my wishes for who I would love to see Armani fly out to Venice to promote the brand on the red carpet as Armani Beauty is a presenting sponsor of the festival. Today’s fantasy brand ambassador is the gorgeous Michelle Dockery. It was this electric blue, black, and flame red ombre intricately embroidered peplum halter neck ballgown from the Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture collection that made me include Michelle in these wishes. We’ve seen Michelle wearing Armani a lot in the last year including for the Downton Abbey premiere in New York and the 2019 British Fashion Awards as well as front row at the Armani Prive Spring 2019 Couture show. I know that she would definitely deliver a Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment wearing this ballgown especially if styled with a sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, dark red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Spikaqueen’ crystal embellished PVC pointed toe ankle strap slingback pumps, and Bulgari ‘Barocko’ white diamond, black enamel, and sapphire link drop earrings. For the second look I would love to see Michelle wear if she were to represent Armani in Venice is this barely blush strapless Giorgio Armani Fall 2011 RTW sequined and beaded fringe column gown. I can’t recall anyone wearing this gown and I feel like it does deserve a major red carpet moment and I feel like Michelle would be a great person to bring this gown to life. Taking this super glam gown and styling it with a romantic updo, defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a rose gold crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of champagne gold Jimmy Choo ‘Mimi’ strappy wrap around sandals, and a Bulgari ‘The Colour Wonder’ necklace set in gold featuring citrine, peridot, rubellite, amethyst, aquamarine, and white diamonds would make this a simpler statement making moment.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Mandibules”

The prankish sensibilities of French filmmaker Quentin Dupieux have screened several times over the years in Cannes proving that he has no shortage of outrageous ideas, and the wherewithal to pull them off. Cannes would have been a natural platform for his latest bizarre cinematic adventure Mandibules, which has the sort of ludicrous premise that only Dupieux could envision: It’s the story of two friends who discover a fly trapped in a car boot and train it to do tricks for easy money. It doesn’t have a big fashion cast, but I would have loved to see this premiere have the effortless French glamour sensibilities filled with many spokesmodels bringing a lot of extra glamour to the red carpet in Cannes. Adele Exarchopoulos was launched to French film fame in Cannes with her film Blue Is The Warmest Color. Since then we have seen Adele in Cannes promoting several projects and I was interested to see what she would have brought to the festival to promote Mandibules at this years festival. I went uber French glam for the perfect effortless moment for the films photocall picking this Patou Fall 2020 RTW ensemble which features a black silk puffy sleeved blouse and a pair of high waisted cropped jeans. Typically I would consider this more of a street style look or an influencer fashion moment waiting to happen, but when I thought of Adele wearing this gown in Cannes I knew it would be that perfect effortlessly dramatic French casual glam moment I am craving. Style this gown with a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of hot pink suede and silver glitter Miu Miu peep toe thick heel pumps to add a dose of color and sparkle and it would be perfection. For the premiere I again went for dramatic simplicity picking this blueish grey Valentino Spring 2020 Couture gown which features a v-neck tank top style bodice, contrast lined peplum, red sash, soft a-line wrap style skirt, center split, and a sweeping train. The look is simple and elegant, but super glam and I think that Adele would ensure the look screams effortless glamour styling it with a sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a pair of silver metallic leather strappy Roger Vivier ankle strap sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection aquamarine sapphire geometric lace drop earrings. Bella Hadid has been heading to Cannes promoting labels she has contracts with, Dior and Bulgari. Every year since 2016 she has ventured to the French Riviera and walked the red carpet twice. One look is always in Dior since Bella is a face of Dior Beauty. So I went on the hunt for the perfect glamour moment for her to bring to life on the red carpet. I am obsessed with this black feathered Christian Dior Fall 2019 Couture ball gown which features an embroidered tulle sweetheart neckline bustier and a single one shoulder tulle strap. I’ve already picked one star to wear this gown in Cannes, but I really think that Bella would make it the perfect edgy meets glamorous moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. So I think that styling this look in a glam manner with a sleek retro updo, smokey eyes, red lips, black leather Christian Louboutin ‘Very Cathy’ ankle strap platform peep toe sandals, and a pair of dazzling white diamond Bulgari cluster earrings with an emerald drops would ensure this look is perfection from head to toe. Celine Dion was announced as a face of L’Oreal Paris last year and when the announcement happened I got really excited. She has become one of my favorite fashionistas and I was immediately ready to see her bring dramatic glamour to the festivals red carpet. So I was really hoping to see her jet to Cannes this year. One of the looks I would love to see her bring to life this year was this champagne gold Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture column gown which features puffy shoulders, long sleeves, a plunging v-neckline, belted waist, an asymmetrical ruffled detail on her waist, and a superb hip high split. It would be that superb glamorous moment that I think Celine would bring the moment to life in Cannes. Styled perfectly I know that while Celine could give the biggest gowns on the red carpet that this could be a superb head to toe glamour moment. So I would style this gown for Celine with a sleek side parted bouffant updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of champagne gold Christian Louboutin ‘Labella’ glittered leather and mesh crystal embellished strappy peep toe pumps, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection yellow teardrop waterfall chandelier earrings to ensure Celine delivers nothing but glamour. This purple pleated jersey Roberto Cavalli Couture gown which features a plunging neckline, silver crystal embellishments trimming the bodice and on the hips, and a sweeping train is my second wish for Emily Ratajkowski to wear on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. It is another slinky hyper sensual gown for Emily to wear on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. That is the type of look that Emily is able to deliver with ease on the red carpet. I actually had thought of Emily as the perfect person to bring this look to life on the red carpet and I know that she would make it work. Sleek old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of purple satin Alevì Milano gem embellished ankle strap sandals, and a selection of de Grisogono jewels including amethyst pendant drop earrings and a statement white diamond cuff bracelet would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Fan Bingbing has been a Queen of Cannes for almost a decade showing up on the festivals red carpets every year for one reason or another. She was catapulted to fashion fame thanks to the festival when she was a L’Orealista. She has subsequently left the beauty label, did a couple turns for Chopard, and was a juror. I don’t know what would bring Fan to the festival this year, but I wanted to see her bring the glamour to the festival anyway. So for this look I went for DRAMA picking this aquamarine Georges Chakra Spring 2020 Couture ballgown which features huge short puffy princess sleeves, a sheer leaf embroidered bodice, a ball skirt with a thigh high split, and a sweeping train. There are not many who would be able to sell this gown to me on the red carpet. Fan would wear it with effortless ease. Style it with a sleek bun updo, defined eyes, red lips, a silver Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ snakeskin crystal clasp clutch, a pair of silver crystal embellished Rene Caovilla bow detail cross strap sandals, and a pair of statement David Morris ‘Orecchini Opali’ aquamarine, paraiba tourmaline, white diamond, and black opal drop earrings and Fan would ensure that this look is a major Cannes red carpet moment.  I didn’t realize it until I started writing this wish that I had picked two Atelier Versace moments for Marion Cotillard to wear in Cannes had she gone there to promote Chopard. It is a little ironic since she is the face of Chanel, but out of 4 looks I’ve picked for her to wear for this years festival only 1 came from Chanel. I thought about picking another look from the label for Marion, but I LOVED the idea of seeing her wear this red Atelier Versace Spring 1990 Couture column gown which features a bustier bodice with a sculpted embellished asymmetrical neckline. So much so that before I had even put this image together I already knew exactly how I was going to style it. A sleek retro updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of ruby red crystal embellished Gianvito Rossi ‘Glam’ satin ankle strap sandals, and a statement white diamond and ruby Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2019 three row collar necklace all came to mind when I pictured Marion wearing this gown and it would definitely make for a statement ensemble that is both edgy and glam.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Today I am continuing right along with my wishes for the 2020 Met Gala even though we do not have a date for when it will take place yet. With the theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” I am expecting a red carpet that hearkens back more to 2009 “Model As Muse” or 2010 “American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity” which delivered a red carpet that embodies more of a sense of drama and glamour than they did to some of the more specific themes like “Punk: Chaos to Couture”, “China: Through The Looking Glass”, and “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” To be on theme this year to me will be easier than ever. I imagine that a lot of looks will evoke the very glamorous vibe of old Hollywood glamour. So I started looking through the collections and saved over 600+ looks that I thought would be the perfect match for this red carpet, and then started picking the perfect stars to bring the gowns to like on the red carpet. French actress Adele Exarchopoulos has made a turn or two on the Met Gala red carpet in the past, but she was the first person to come to mind when I was trying to think of the perfect person to bring this blush pink Fendi Fall 2020 RTW dress to life on the Met Gala red carpet. I fell in LOVE with this dress the moment it came down the runway and I definitely think that it would be a perfect Met Gala moment. This look takes ideas from Victorian glamour, lingerie sensuality, and flapper beading and meshes them into a perfect fashion moment. I would love to see Silvia Fendi take this ensemble and length it into a column gown for Adele to wear on the Met Gala red carpet. The look would exude sensual femininity in a super dramatic way. While most looks for the Met Gala I am hoping for a train I think that the full organza sleeves of this gown add enough drama on their own. A sleek updo, defined eyes, burgundy lips, a pair of nude Fendi ‘Ffreedom’ bow detail sculpted heel slingback sandals, and simple pink and white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection teardrop earrings would give Adele a perfect Met Gala moment.Coco Rocha knows how to deliver DRAMA on the red carpet, so when I was thinking of who could really showcase this canary yellow Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2020 Couture strapless ballgown which features a full skirt, ankle length, and all over tired ruffles Coco immediately came to mind. On the Met steps in the past Coco has dazzled in designs from Zac Posen, McQueen, and Ungaro in the past. It has also been a hot second since we have seen Coco on the Met Gala red carpet and I can definitely imagine her twirling up the steps working this gown to its maximum potential especially if styled with a sleek high bun, thick winged eyes, soft rose pink lips, a pair of dazzling nude crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Sacora’ ankle strap peep toe sandals, and white diamond Harry Kotlar leaf inspired cluster earrings. Gugu Mbatha Raw has been a Met Gala guest several times and since she has not seemed to slow as of late I am really excited to see what she and her stylist Cristina Ehrlich are cooking up for this years gala. I decided to go a very 50’s glam route for Gugu. We typically see one or two custom Emilia Wickstead moments on the Met Gala red carpet so I optioned a few looks and when I thought of Gugu wearing this gown customized to hit the floor I knew there was a real possibility in this look. The super glam of the snakeskin embossed metallic brocade infuses a touch of modernity into this classic gown. Making this a floor skimming gown would definitely ensure that this look is beautiful especially if styled with a curly updo, defined eyes, deep crimson red lips, a pair of gold crystal embellished Rene Caovilla strappy sandals, and a statement Buccellati collar necklace in silver and yellow gold with pearls and rose-cut diamonds.Kiki Layne burst onto the fashion scene about a year and a half ago with her performance in If Beale Street Could Talk. She has two projects slated for release this year including the much anticipated Coming 2 America. So after a stellar showing last year at the 2019 Met Gala wearing custom Gucci I am hoping to see her back on the red carpet this year. She can have her pick of designers to dress her for the Met Gala, but I was thinking of this soft butter yellow Chloe Fall 2020 RTW moment since I first saw it on the runway. This gown does not immediately scream Met Gala, but I would imagine that modifying this gown to have a dramatic train that it would be dramatic enough for the Met Gala red carpet. When it comes down to it the easy going, bohemian vibe of Chloe just doesn’t fit into the classic glam vibe I feel we are going to see on this red carpet, but overall the bohemian aesthetic has endured and deserves to be spotlighted as well and well Chloe usually dresses at least one star for the Met and the look is typically not on theme. Just on brand. This gown is definitely on brand and I can imagine that Kiki would ensure that it is showcased to its full potential. I think that with a creative updo, defined eyes, nude lips, simple gold crystal embellished Gianvito Rossi ‘Montecarlo’ ankle strap sandals, and a pair of vintage 18k gold set Bulgari High Jewelry white diamond, emerald, and sapphire leaf earclips that this look would definitely be a really light and airy moment for Kiki to bring to life on this red carpet.  Naomi Campbell was another one who I immediately when I saw a look come down the runway that I had found the perfect Met Gala moment for her. This silver mirrored midi gown which features a structured neckline, fitted silhouette, long sleeves, and crystal fringe closed the Burberry Fall 2020 RTW show. The first video hit Instagram and when I saw this sparkling design walk I knew it was perfect for the Met Gala and that Naomi would be the perfect person to bring the gown to life. I would want to see this dress lengthened into a floor length gown for Naomi to really bring the dazzle to the Met steps. A sleek center parted hairstyle, defined eyes, bold lips, and a pair of silver Burberry ‘Kiltie’ crystal embellished pointed toe pumps would definitely all make this one of Naomi’s best red carpet moments ever. When I picked this navy and black Jonathan Cohen Fall 2020 RTW cap sleeve a-line dress which features velvet sleeves and hem and intricate white floral embroidery for Tina Fey in my New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 wishes I didn’t have any intention of choosing it to be a Met Gala pick. I was going through the collections picking the looks I felt best fit this years theme I thought this dress would be perfect. I really do believe that it would be quite the chic and glamorous moment for Tina to wear on this red carpet modified to be a full length gown. Now this gown would scream glamour, but I would also add navy satin waistband to make sure that Tina’s waist is cinched. To really make sure the glamor is exuded from top to toe I would style this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of midnight blue satin Gianvito Rossi ‘Loren’ chunky heel ankle strap sandals, and simple yet dazzling Cartier High Jewelry white diamond and sapphire drop earrings.

2019 Toronto International Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The kickoff to the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival is just two days away! After Venice has thus far mostly disappointed me I am praying to the gods of fashion that given the major star power behind the wide selection at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival that everyone, and their stylists, are cooking up for this years red carpets. I think that the looks in this list would all make my heart flutter and give me major fashion vibes. Several of these ladies have already kicked off their fall festival tours in Venice, while Toronto is the only stop on the fall festival circuit for others. I am hoping that Toronto delivers several Best Dressed of the Year worthy moments. My expectations for Zazie and Tilda are high.

The 2019 Toronto International Film Festival will open on Thursday September 5, 2019 and will run through Sunday September 15, 2019.

“The White Crow” London Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Have you missed me? After a pretty lack luster Oscar night I decided to take a few days off as it was my first full week at my new job. Now I am back and going to start March with some looks for some of the movie premieres that are expected to take place this month. Up first is one of the smaller premieres that will take place. The White Crow is the story of Russian born ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev and his journey of leaving his home and seeking asylum in France. The film stars Oleg Ivenko, Ralph Fiennes, Sergi Polunin, and Adele Exarchopoulos. The cast screams film festival film, but it is is screening on a stand alone gala premiere in London and that has made me question what the red carpet will look like.Adele Exarchopulos is a French actress who burst onto the international film scene a few years ago when she stared in Blue Is The Warmest Color with Lea Seydoux and the two shared the Cannes Film Festival’s top prize for their performance in the film. Since then Adele has done a few French films and most notably was a face of Louis Vuitton. I started to wonder if Adele is still under contract with LV when she stepped out in January to sit front row at the Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 Haute Couture show. I know that Adele has the potential to be a major fashionista, but Louis Vuitton was holding her back. Now if this was a film festival premiere I would have easily picked a look right off that runway. But since it is just a stand alone premiere I went for something a little simpler. I love this chic and elegance black Giambattista Valli Pre-Fall 2019 goddess draped one shoulder silk tea length gown which features a fitted bodice, A-line silhouette, and a delicately pleated tea length skirt and I definitely think that Adele would look ever so chic on the red carpet. I almost think that Adele could ask the house of Giambattista Valli to lengthen the skirt into a floor length gown with a slight train to make it a little more dramatic, but not overly so. Add a sleek updo, smokey eyes, glossy blush pink lips, a black Louis Vuitton ‘Night Box’ shiny epi leather clutch, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Sin’ crystal embellished sandals, and Chopard diamond and emerald briolette cut drop earrings to really ensure this look is glamour defined from head to toe.

The London premiere if The White Crow will take place on Tuesday March 12, 2019.

2017 Venice Film Festival: “La Fidele” & “Brawl in Cell Block 99” Premieres Red Carpet Wish List

The 2017 Venice Film Festival is just a week and a half away from opening and I grow more and more excited every single day. The festival features films packed with stars who usually bring it on the red carpet, and I am expecting none the less from all of them over the course of this years festival. The premieres of La Fidele and Brawl in Cell Block 99 are out of competition gala premieres so I have high expectations for the stars of these film to really deliver gorgeous moments on the red carpet in Venice. French actress Adele Exarchopoulos has been on the red carpet scene for a while now. She burst to red carpet stardom after winning the Palme D’Or with Lea Seydoux for their film Blue is the Warmest Color. Now Adele is following in Lea’s footsteps wearing nothing but Louis Vuitton on the red carpet. While out in Venice to promote her latest feature La Fidele I have a feeling that it will once again be Louis Vuitton that she turns to for all of her red carpet moments. Adele was the first person to wear the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2018 collection on the red carpet selecting a short gold pailette handkerchief dress for the Cannes Film Festival 70th Anniversary Soiree. For the films photocall I would love to see Adele wear this chic forest green suede shift dress. I have to say that with stars fascination with all things Louis Vuitton that this dress has not been snatched up yet. I think that for a film festival photocall that this would be a perfect option for Adele to wear. With a pair of black and green Louis Vuitton ‘Rendez Vous’ snakeskin pumps, neutral makeup, and loose waves this look would be styled perfectly. For the premiere I went to another Louis Vuitton Cruise 2018 ensemble. I think that this gold and black peasant gown would fit right into Adele’s laid back, but still dramatic take on glamour for the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival. The look might be compared to a similar look that Emma Watson wore for the Paris photocall for The Circle which hailed from the same collection, but I think that each gown in its own right would work for the occasion at hand. Making this look totally perfect with a pair of black and gold Louis Vuitton ‘Moon Shadow’ sandals, a gold Louis Vuitton ‘Louise RW’ clutch, chic romantic updo, and simple yet metallic makeup will ensure that Adele has a beautiful moment for her first Venice Film Festival premiere. This will be the first time that Jennifer Carpenter has been on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival since 2005. This year Jennifer will present her film Brawl in Cell Block 99 and I am hoping that she will put herself back on the fashion map. Back when she was in the hit show Dexter Jennifer wowed me wearing absolutely glamorous gowns for high profile events. I am hoping that she hasn’t lost her mojo since we haven’t seen her on a major red carpet in such a long time. For the films photocall I went with this very chic and modern take on romanticism from the Jason Wu Fall 2017 RTW collection. This ensemble which features a grasshopper green velvet devore top with a high neck tie and draped cold shoulders and a pair of black embroidered tapered silk pants is perfect for a photocall and I think that Jennifer would look incredibly chic and elegant wearing this creation on a red carpet. Because of the neck and shoulder details of this look I would have Jennifer style the look with a chic ponytail. Adding a lined eye, pink lip, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Mira Bella’ platform sandals would add the perfect finishing touches. For the premiere I went to a much more dramatic gown with this beautiful purple, bead and feather embellished, one shoulder Ziad Nakad Fall 2017 Couture gown which features velvet trim and a dramatic split. This gown is truly worthy of a major film festival red carpet and I think that Jennifer would look so incredibly glamorous walking the red carpet on the Venice Lido in this confection. I would go very glamorous with the styling of this gown adding a dramatic high updo, smokey eye, nude lip, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of grey satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Firaduo’ crystal embellished sandals.I decided last minute to throw in this wish for main competition jury member Anna Mouglalis. I was scrolling through collections and I said to myself that I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t picked one of these Grecian goddess gowns from the Chanel Cruise 2018 collection for Anna to wear on the red carpet during the Venice Film Festival. I was trying to figure which of the wishes that I had already planned to swap this gown in for, but I loved them all. So I decided to add it here. I can totally see this gown being a huge hit for Anna. It is much more relaxed than many of the looks that I have already picked for her to wear over the course of this years festival, but I think that it would still be incredibly impactful especially styled with a romantic updo, smokey eye, gold clutch, and a pair of gold sandals.

The 2017 Venice Film Festival opens August 30, 2017 and runs through September 9, 2017.

2016 Toronto International Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

haley-bennett-2016-TIFF-the-magnificent-seven-premiere-wish-list (1)Just before the Venice Film Festival comes to a close the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will kick off. TIFF is slated to open with the remake of The Magnificent Seven, which is then set to close the Venice Film Festival two days later. We are about to get introduced to Haley Bennett in a major way. Those that follow fashion have a little knowledge, but with this film she is going to be jettisoned into even more fame. Designers are already working with the British actress and I am hoping that she continues to showcase her gorgeous style and grow as a red carpet fashionista. Haley was aboard the Dior Express for the Dior Cruise 2017 presentation in Dior Couture by Raf Simons. While the Cruise 2017 collection didn’t have any looks worthy of the films gala opening premiere of TIFF, but this dove grey Christian Dior Spring 2016 Couture off tea length gown which features an asymmetrical off the shoulder neckline, a full skirt, and all over crystal embellishments is. I don’t see TIFF as a festival were big ball gowns are warranted but I think that this tea length gown is perfect for it. A chic updo, pink lip, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of silver sandals would ensure that this is the perfect look to kick off the Toronto International Film Festival. adele-exarchropolus-2016-TIFF-orpheline-premiere-wish-list (1)One of the things that I love about TIFF is that there is an air of it being a little more relaxed than Venice or Cannes. At TIFF there aren’t the big photocalls followed by big gala premieres. Premieres happen all day and at varying levels of formality. TIFF also brings together stars from all over the world, a converge that we usually only see at Cannes or Venice. French starlet Adele Exarchropolus is set to premiere her latest film Orpheline at TIFF this year. Adele has been a devotee of Louis Vuitton for the last like year and a half, and like most it is very hit or miss whether I like the look or not. I imagine that for TIFF that Nicolas Ghesquière would create something custom for the starlet to wear, but I went back to the Louis Vuitton Spring 2016 RTW collection picking this silver and blue metallic futuristic cocktail dress for Adele to wear. The cap sleeve, bell skirted dress would be a perfect look for Adele to rock on the TIFF red carpet. A pair of black LV sandals, a low tight pony tail, and a lined eye would ensure that this is a win for Adele and LV on the red carpet. gemma-arterton-2016-TIFF-orpheline-premiere-wish-list (1)Depending on when the premiere of Orpheline is will depend on whether or not Gemma Arterton will be able to attend, as she will be busy for the first two days of TIFF fulfilling her jury duties at the Venice Film Festival. I am hoping that Gemma will be able to jet from Italy to Canada for the premieres of her films during TIFF (she has two.) For the premiere of Orpheline I would love to see Gemma, who I am sure will be sick of gowns by the time TIFF starts, wearing this gorgeous strapless Carolina Herrera Resort 2017 rainbow striped midi gown which features a daringly sexy side split and a black embellished neckline. I don’t know what about this look screams Gemma so much to me, but it does and I know that she will rock it. A pair of simple nude or black sandals, chic bob, light pink lip, and a burgundy satin box clutch would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. amy-adams-2016-TIFF-arrival-premiere-wish-list (1)Amy Adams is going to be busy as she is going to be promoting her two latest films Arrival and Nocturnal Animals at both the Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. For the TIFF premiere of Arrival I am going to go with this lavender Atelier Versace Fall 2016 Couture abstract ruffled cocktail dress which features an asymmetrical peplum, plunging neckline, and sexy split. The attached choker collar would be a very easy modification to get rid of, because unless you’re the likes of Karlie Kloss or Joan Smalls that just won’t work on the red carpet. Finishing with chic pulled back waves, a pink lip, and a pair of silver Sophia Webster ‘Lilico’ appliquéd metallic leather sandals would ensure that this just another magic Atelier Versace moment for Amy. kate-hudson-2016-TIFF-deepwater-horizon-premiere-wish-list (1)I am always excited to see Kate Hudson on the red carpet and so when I saw her film Deepwater Horizon was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival I got all giddy and excited. There are literally a million gowns that I could pick for Kate to wear for TIFF but I think that she would be the perfect choice to wear the debut J. Mendel Fall 2016 Couture collection on the red carpet. This metallic bronze strapless, pleated, high-low, layered gown which features stomach cutouts is just perfection for me, and the thought of Kate wearing it just makes it that much more perfect. Making this gown a modern glam moment with old Hollywood waves, a pair of antique gold set diamond drop earrings, and a pair of gold Gianvito Rossi metallic leather sandals would ensure that this is another major moment for Kate on the TIFF red carpet.  priyanka-chopra-2016-TIFF-jury-wish-list (1)With the 2016 Toronto Film International Film Festival I have learned that there is a celebrity jury and Priyanka Chopra is on this years edition which also features James Franco and SELMA director Ava DuVernay. If there have always been big stars on the TIFF jury I have never realized it, and they don’t make public appearances like the Cannes or Venice jurors do. I am hoping that we continue to see Priyanka grow her red carpet styling over the course of the Toronto Film Festival. Like I just did with Gemma Arterton I am going to just randomly pop wishes for Priyanka to wear for the red carpets over the course of the festival. My first wish for Priyanka is this gorgeous strawberry red Alberta Ferretti Resort 2017 draped one shoulder gown which features an a-line silhouette with an asymmetrical v-neckline. I feel like most of the looks that we see from Priyanka would be more cocktail and basic gowns so I think that this gown is perfection for this red carpet. Adding a simple pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Truce’ metallic leather sandals, a gold Edie Parker ‘Jean’ embossed metal and glittered acrylic box clutch, chic updo, and a smokey eye would make this a winning look for Priyanka.

The 2016 Toronto International Film Festival opens September 8, 2016 and runs through September 18, 2016.

Cannes 2016: “The Last Face” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

adele-exarchopoulos-cannes-2016-the-last-face-premiere-wish-list (1)Adele Exarchopoulos made her red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 with the film Blue Is The Warmest Color. Since then she has been back at the festival every year for one reason or another. This year Adele will be back on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet to promote her latest film, Sean Penn’s The Last Face. Adele has never been one of my favorite’s on the red carpet but I am going to give her another chance with this year’s red carpet. For the photocall I would love to see Adele take to the photocall in this white silk Louis Vuitton Fall 2016 RTW dress with a black leather harness bodice. I expect that Adele will wear Louis Vuitton exclusively but it is not something that thrills me. I am so over LV on the red carpet, as the looks don’t come across very well. I think that this look is probably the most suited for Adele and the sunshine of the French Riviera. For the premiere I would really love to see Adele hit the red carpet in a custom Prada or Miu Miu gown, but I am expecting that she will wear a custom Louis Vuitton gown. Picking a runway look I think that this ivory Valentino Spring 2016 Couture draped gown, styled with the runway’s gold body chain, would be a great choice for Adele. Big gowns with long trains and full skirts aren’t Adele’s thing. This gown would be so chic & elegant on the Cannes red carpet, perfect for a premiere.  charlize-theron-cannes-2016-the-last-face-premiere-wish-list (1)I’m a little surprised to know that Charlize Theron will be back at the Croisette to premiere her latest film The Last Face, directed by ex-boyfriend Sean Penn, at the Cannes Film Festival so soon after her last film. Charlize was at the Cannes Film Festival last year to promote Mad Max: Fury Road, which she rode all the way to the Oscars, and did so in fine style with a very dramatic bright yellow Christian Dior Couture gown. As I said earlier with Marion, I am not so sure that Dior will be in play (it was obviously missing from the Met Gala) at Cannes, so that leaves all their ladies up in the air. For the photocall I decided to forego Dior for Charlize in favor in this absolutely amazing silver Maison Marigela Fall 2016 RTW sequined cocktail dress. Only at Cannes could Charlize get away with wearing this dress in the middle of the day. I did pick a Dior gown for Charlize to change into for the premiere with this light blue Christian Dior Spring 2016 Couture gown with an asymmetrical neckline and sheer skirt. If Charlize wears Dior I am guessing that she will go for something custom and really dramatic, my Met Gala wish for her would be a great option for Charlize for this red carpet as well. I just hope that she really gives me something to ogle over, as her The Huntsman: Winter’s War promo tour really lackluster.penelope-cruz-cannes-2016-the-last-face-premiere-wish-list (1)I am hoping that Penelope Cruz will also be in Cannes for this premiere as her hubby Javier Bardem is one of the stars of The Last Face. Penelope kicked off the year in high style with some amazing looks while she was promoting Zoolander No. 2 with amazing looks from Balmain and Atelier Versace. I am hoping she brings her Latin glamour to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in support of her hubby. Since it isn’t her premiere I figure Penelope will come in a back door or be very subdued, so she doesn’t steal the spotlight from the films stars. I would love to see Penelope take to the red carpet wearing this black and blue Azzendine Alaia Fall 2016 RTW long sleeve, lace, a-line gown as I think that it is absolutely gorgeous and she is one of the few who can get her hands on Alaia for the red carpet. A chic, simple updo, pink lip, black clutch, a pair of black sandals, and a pair of diamond dazzlers in her ears would really make Penelope the perfect plus one in Cannes. kirsten-dunst-cannes-2016-the-last-face-premiere-wish-list (1)You are probably getting sick of seeing the Feature film jury on my Cannes red carpet wishes. While I know that they aren’t on every red carpet, I like to put out all the options I can for them because outside of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies we never know when they will step out. This is one of the bigger more glamorous looks that I have picked for Kirsten Dunst to wear over the course of the Cannes film festival. I think that this nude embellished sheer tulle gown from the Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture ball gown which features a scoop neck and spaghetti straps would be absolutely gorgeous on the Cannes red carpet. This gown would be so chic and light on the red carpet while being extremely dramatic at the same time. A chic updo, smoky eye, light pink lip, nude sandals, and a pair of yellow gold set diamond cluster earrings would make it perfect for Kirsten.vanessa-paradis-cannes-2016-the-last-face-premiere-wish-list (1)I have said many times before (probably each time that I have talked about her) that I am praying that Vanessa Paradis doesn’t exclusively wear Chanel over the course of the festival, yet here I am making another Chanel wish. I am realistic with the fact that we are bound to see more than one Chanel look from Vanessa, I am just hoping that we see her wearing a varried style of Chanel looks and a varied arsenal of designers. I do think that this light grey Chanel Spring 2014 Couture trapeze gown which feature sequin and feather embellishments. I have been awaiting this gown to have a red carpet moment and I think that this could be a lighter look for Vanessa, as usually her red carpet MO is dark and moody. On the Cannes red carpet I think that dark look after dark look would be wasted and I think that this would be a light breath of air to see Vanessa wearing for Cannes.

The 2016 Cannes Film Festival opens next Wednesday May 11, 2016 and will run through May 22, 2016. The premiere of The Last Face is towards the end of the festival on May 20, 2016.

2014 Cannes Film Festival: Chopard Trophee Gala & Kristen Stewart Wish List

Every year Chopard awards two rising young talents the Chopard Trophee, which has gone to talents like Audrey Tautou, Shailene Woodley, Jeremy Irvine, and Ezra Miller. This year the two recipients are Logan Lerman and Adele Exarchopoulos. Adele made her debut last year premiering ‘Blue is the Warmest Color’ at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival with another Chopard Trophee winner Lea Seydoux. Adele is much on her way to being a prominent actress. She, in joint with Lea, were the first actresses to take the Palme D’Or home; an honor historically just given to the films director. For this awards ceremony I am sure that designers will be throwing gowns at Adele and I am hoping that Maxime Simoens Fall 2014 RTW black column gown with silver embellished bust line peplum is what she ends up choosing. I think that this gown is absolutely amazing. A simple yet impact making statement. I would pull Adele’s hair up into an elegant bun, add a red lip, and a pair of red pumps to just ensure that this is an award winning look.
Cate Blanchett will be in attendance during the festival to premiere her film ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ as a gala screening and also as the patron presenter of this years Chopard Trophee. Chopard always brings an established actor or actress to present the young talent with their awards and to impart words of wisdom upon them. After a few years of male presenters I am ecstatic that Cate will be the one presenting this years awards. As most regular readers will know, I have the biggest girl crush on Cate. She is my #1 dream client. If I were dressing Cate for this event I would have to pick this icy blue Armani Prive Spring 2014 Couture strapless gown. I think that the laid back unstructured nature of this gown is perfect for a slightly more laid back event during the festival and for the breezy French Riviera. A pair of silver sandals, a pair of stunning Chopard diamond earrings, and a diamond cuff bracelet would give this the perfect toppings to this amazing red carpet ensemble.
Aside from premiering ‘Clouds of Sils Maria’ Kristen Stewart will also be helping to auction off her film ‘Camp X-Ray’ during the festival. I have heard that Kirsten may make a second red carpet appearance to help do so. As the face of Chanel I figure there will be at least one look from the brand during the festival and after a horrible look at the 2014 Met Ball, I am hoping that she can redeem herself. This dove grey Chanel Spring 2014 Coutuer gown with beaded and feather embellishments would be a perfect look. Much like I said for her ‘Sils Maria’ premiere look; a tight bun to help minimize the effects of her ugly orange hair, a pair of silver sandals, and a silver clutch would give me the right accessories to give me a perfect red carpet ensemble.

2014 Cannes Film Festival: Opening Ceremony & “Grace of Monaco” Premiere Wish List

Nicole Kidman will be back in Cannes this year to open the festival will her film ‘Grace of Monaco’ after serving on the Palme D’Or Jury during the 2013 festival. This Grace Kelly biopic has been much anticipated after not being ready for any of the 2013 film festivals or the 2014 awards season. Some people say that Nicole will start her journey to an Oscar with this premiere. Nicole used to be dressed by the late L’Wren Scott so I am eagerly awaiting what will come to the red carpet on May 15th. I am hoping that she pulls from the Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture collection because since it was presented last July I have been dying for a Nicole Kidman moment. This royal blue sleeveless silk gown is the regal moment that a Cannes premiere about a fashion icon princess is calling for. A wavy up-do, stunning diamond and sapphire cluster earrings, and a pair of blue satin pumps dyed to match would make this look 100% perfect for this red carpet.
Paz Vega is a staple on the red carpet in Cannes, but this year she will most likely grace the red carpet of the Opening Ceremony screening of ‘Grace of Monaco’ as she is one of the films stars. I have been in love with a few of the gowns from the Armani Prive Fall 2013 Couture collection that still have yet to be worn on the red carpet and I am still holding out hope that they will make it off the runway. This beaded cap sleeve mermaid gown has been one that I have been dying to see off the runway but it really needs a grand red carpet to support it and Cannes certainly does. Paz would look absolutely stunning in this design. An elegant vintage inspired updo, gold sandals, and some diamond cluster earrings will make up this absolutely stunning red carpet ensemble.
I am hoping that the 2014 Palme D’Or Jury brings more to the red carpet than their red carpet history presents. Sofia Coppola is one of the ladies on the jury and I have never been wowed by one of her looks so I am hoping that over the 12 day festival that I am able to fall in love with at least one of her looks. For the Opening Ceremony I picked this blueish green, white, and black Louis Vuitton Fall 2014 RTW dress. While the dress would be pretty as it is I would like for Sofia to have this gown lengthened into a full length gown. The sad thing is that new Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere has yet to produce a gown, even for the ladies he dressed for the Met Ball last night. A black Louis Vuitton clutch, a pair of black pumps, and a red lip would give me a jaw dropping look from Sofia on the Cannes red carpet.
The jury member that I am most likely going to fall in love with is Korean actress Jeon Do-Yeon. The star has received awards at Cannes before so and I am praying for some major moments from her over the course of this festival. For the Opening Ceremony I would love to see Jeon wear this ice blue Zuhair Murad Spring 2014 Couture embellished tulle ball gown with a high neck and open back. This is a very bold statement to make for this red carpet, but as they say ‘go big, or go home.’ Finish the look with a pretty updo, a silver crystal encrusted clutch, and a pair of silver sandals will give this gown the perfect simple touches to let it shine in Cannes.
And the final jury member that might bring a major red carpet moment is Carole Bouquet. The 56 year old French actress and model has a relationship with Chanel having attended events and couture shows hosted by the couture house. For the Opening Ceremony I have chosen this Chanel Spring 2013 Couture black embellished tiered skirt and under the jacket is a sleeveless blouse of the gown. I think that this is a gown that needs a red carpet moment and Carole would be perfect to give it its shining moment. A black Chanel satin clutch, a pair of black satin pumps, and of course a selection of stunning diamonds in her ears and maybe on her wrist will complete this perfect ensemble.
Last but not least I have a wish for Adele Exarchopoulos. Adele is not in the film or on the jury but in the following days of the Opening Ceremony Adele will be presented with the Chopard Trophee and the winners of the Trophee are usually in attendance at the Opening Ceremony, I am also praying that the patron of this years awards (Cate Blanchett) will also be in attendance. Adele has been either love or loathe for me on the red carpet and I am hoping for a major moment from her during Cannes. I think that this black textured Lanvin Fall 2014 RTW midi cocktail dress would make an amazing gown that would make for the perfect red carpet moment for someone who’s night it is not yet at the Cannes Film Festival.
