2021 SAG Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

It has been a whirlwind this year seeing how the different major award shows adapted to still go on amidst the global pandemic. There was the hybrid virtual nominees and in person presenters presented from both coast of the United States, the fully remote Critics Choice Awards, and the scaled back yet in person Grammy Awards. Each award show so far has taken their own path with accommodating the public health orders across the country and the world. The Screen Actors Guild has decided not to do any sort of live event, which is totally different. Instead they will be airing a one hour special that will be pre-recoreded. So these wishes are really just thoughts about what I would like to see as I am sure that portions of the show have already been recorded. As we move closer to this weekends event let’s dive into the wishes I have today for looks I would love to see worn for the SAG Awards. Anya Taylor Joy’s performance as Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit has earned her both a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award. She has done so turning back to the same label Christian Dior Couture for both shows. It would not surprise me in the least if she will not be the next face of Dior, maybe the Miss Dior fragrance. It would actually shock me if Anya wore anything other than Dior for the SAG Awards special. I’ve loved this white and black sequined silk tulle Christian Dior Fall 2020 Couture spaghetti strap tea length ballgown since I first saw it. It was presented as a miniature collection on doll sized mannequins, but I would love to see the Dior ateliers take this miniature and create the full version for Anya. It is glamorous and sophisticated with a little bit of sex appeal. The vintage inspired nature of this gown blends together the iconic style sensibilities of both Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. To really make this look perfection I would style it with a sleek rose inspired updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of white satin Aquazzura ‘Celeste 105’ strappy crystal embellished sandals, and a selection of Bulgari jewels including simple white diamond and emerald drop earrings and a delicate white diamond ‘Wings of Rome’ feather inspired necklace. It would be DRAMA and GLAMOUR defined. Cynthia Erivo has shown up for the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and Grammy Awards this year and has served a MAJOR look at each. For the Globes she wore a neon green Valentino Couture neoprene tea length gowncustom lace and tulle Vera Wang for the Critics Choice Awards, and then a gorgeous silver and gold sequin and bead embellished custom Louis Vuitton gown for the Grammy’s. Each look she’s served could easily be a Best Dressed of the Year contender and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next when she is a presenter at the SAG Awards this weekend. I would love to see Cynthia go for bold dazzle wearing this black and silver Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture one sleeve sheer ballgown which features a 3D feather inspired feather detail on the neckline and a zebra inspired pattern. I feel like this moment is a major statement moment and Cynthia would definitely be able to sell it to me with ease. Now with this gown I would LOVE to see Cynthia style this gown with her signature bleached buzz cut, thick defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, black Roger Vivier ‘Mini Broche Vivier Buckle’ peep toe platform ankle strap sandals with a chunky clear crystal embellished plexi heel, a Maria Tash ‘Apsara Clicker’ white diamond septum ring, and a selection of MAJOR Djula jewels including a pair of white diamond cluster fan earrings, a single ear with top and side white diamond ear cuffs, and a selection of white diamond rings strewn about all her fingers to really make this another major fashion moment from the powerhouse. Dan Levy has also served up LOOKS this awards season. He’s strayed away from the typical menswear looks wearing canary yellow Valentino Couture wool and sequins for the Globes and victorian military inspired Dior Men for the Critics Choice Awards and each one is a Best Dressed of the Year worthy ensemble. I am expecting him to take home an Actor trophy for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Comedy Series this weekend and I want to see him do so in high style. I turned back to Valentino picking this very classic cut black Valentino Fall 2021 RTW tuxedo that was styled with a see through sequin mesh turtleneck on the runway. Now I don’t know if Dan is exactly the see through mesh on no undershirt kind of guy, and I am leaning towards no. So I’ve been wondering what I would like to see. Part of me want’s to see Valentino create a custom black liquid sequin top to layer under it or just go with a classic white t-shirt. Both would be cool moments and I am leaning towards the white t-shirt. His black thick rimmed glasses, the runways black leather boots, and a statement vintage white diamond Harry Winston flower brooch would make this a MAJOR menswear moment for Dan to bring to this “red carpet.”Lily Collins is presenting at this years SAG Awards after helping announce this years nominees. It will be the first time Lily is partaking in a SAG Awards ceremony and I want to se her doing so in flirtatious glamour. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the bohemian glam custom Saint Laurent gown that Lily wore for the Golden Globe Awards. I know she has so much more in her. I would love to see her deliver this black and blush pink ombre asymmetrical Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 a-line cocktail length gown with an asymmetrical neck and a bow detail on the hip. It screams feminine glamour and that is what I feel like Lily serves up the best on the red carpet. While for most red carpets in and out of lockdown I don’t prefer gowns that don’t reach the floor I feel like the SAG Awards that a cocktail length gown is appropriate, especially for a presenter. I feel like with a sleek romantic updo, defined eyes, bold lips using Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick Drama Matte in Rose Lancôme, blush pink Alexander McQueen crystal ankle strap sandals, and a pair of Anabela Chan ‘Diamond Supernova’ white diamond, white sapphire, and ivory pearl chandelier earrings would make sure this look is flirty and glamorous from head to toe. Maria Bakalova was one of the new faces among the list of nominees this year and it turns out she is quite the fashionista. She has rocked some major glam moments during awards season so far with a raspberry red crystal embellished tulle Armani Prive ballgown and a black velvet Prada gown with a crystal tassel bow and I cannot wait to see what else lies in store for her over the course of awards season. I feel like custom is in her sights for the SAG Awards. Maybe Gucci or Dior. I wasn’t totally thrilled or inspired with anything that I saw, except for this white Marchesa Spring 2021 RTW orchid purple and grey hand painted floral print ball gown which features a statement crystal embellished halter neckline, open back, a-line skirt, and a sweeping train. I don’t know if Maria would wear Marchesa, but her stylist Jessica Paster would option the brand for other clients so I decided to throw caution to the wind and pick this gorgeous gown for Maria. While Marchesa still has the tainted stain of the Harvey Weinstein scandal on it I think that this moment on Maria would be perfect especially if styled with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, silver crystal embellished Giuseppe Zanotti wrap-around ankle strap sandals, and a pair of sleek and glamorous Graziela Gems ‘Navete’ white diamond wreath hoop earrings.

The 2021 SAG Awards special will broadcast on Sunday April 4, 2021. You can see all my wishes for this years show here.

2021 SAG Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The SAG Awards broadcast is this weekend. I say broadcast because I am sure that the Screen Actors Guild has already started bringing their presenters and nominees together to record their sections as this years show will be pre-recorded and broadcast with a 1 hour television special. I am not sure how they are going to condense the whole show into just one hour, but I am sure there will be a way for them to do it. I’ve been ruminating on my wishes for this event for a while. It actually put me in a bit of a funk. I was originally going to start these as soon as I was done with my Grammy’s wishes, but because of the circumstances I just wasn’t feeling inspired. In fact until this past weekend when I finally finished putting the wishes together I was still uninspired. I will not be detailing out everyone. I have just decided that I don’t have that in me right now, but I have a couple days of detailed wishes that will culminate in a big round up style post for everyone else. I picked the stars featured in my detailed wishes based on who I was able to easily pick a look for and who I know has been turning out looks during our virtual awards season. Kicking things off is Amy Adams whom earned a surprise nomination this awards season for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Movie thanks to her role as Beverly “Bev” Vance in Hillbilly Elegy. I’ve always loved Amy and her style, but in more recent years her looks have missed the mark for me. We haven’t seen her show a fashion look since Emmy night 2019 where she wore a hideous Fendi Couture gown. I want to see her give us GLAMOUR this weekend for the SAG Awards and I know it would be a perfect moment to see her wearing this black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2021 RTW crystal embroidered halter neck column gown which features a draped bodice and keyhole bodice cutout. It is classically glamorous and I think that it would be a great moment for Amy to bring to life for the SAG Awards. I would then take this classic gown and style it with a sleek retro glam updo, thick defined soft smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black satin Tom Form ‘TF 105’ slingback pointed toe pumps, and a selection of Cartier jewels including intricate vintage white diamond chandelier earrings and a statement ‘L’Odyssée de Cartier’ white diamond cuff bracelet to really make this look scream glamour from head to toe. Over the course of this major winning awards season Catherine O’Hara has given more understand glam looks with a custom Vera Wang suit at the Golden Globes and a black Elie Saab ruffled cocktail dress for the Critics Choice Awards. For this weekends SAG Awards I would really love to see Catherine finish out the awards run for Schitt’s Creek giving us a bit of razzle dazzle wearing this black, gold, and white art deco inspired Elie Saab Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve column gown. I am SHOCKED that no one has worn this gown yet. I would have figured Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta Jones, Nadine Labaki, or Jane Fonda would have fought over this dress. Three years later we are still waiting to see it have a red carpet moment. I feel like it is totally in tune with Catherine’s chic and sophisticated sense of style and it would make sure that she sends Schitt’s Creek off in HIGH glam style. I feel like her soft wave center parted and worn down, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black satin Roger Vivier gold metal crystal buckle platform chunky heel strappy sandals, and simple elegant IVY New York red spinel and white diamond drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Emma Corrin has been serving LEWKS this awards season. She collected her Golden Globe wearing custom clown inspired Miu Miu and then went for bold 80’s inspired style with a Schiaparelli mini dress for the Critics Choice Awards. Her style has been top notch and I am sad her tenure with the cast of The Crown is coming to an end. After her wins this year I would say that her portrayal of Princess Diana has her as the favorite to take home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series trophy this year. I went for edgy glam with this silver and black Armani Prive Spring 2021 Couture sleeveless tea length gown with a halter neck vest and a spaghetti strap slip dress for Emma. Now I would ditch the belt from the runway and style this dress with her edgy cropped hairstyle, navy blue glitter Pat McGrath Labs ‘Dark Star’ smokey eyes, soft pink lips, strappy black Awge x Amina Muaddi ‘Isd Gladi’ thigh high crystal embellished sandals, and a selection of Messika jewels including asymmetrical white diamond wing cluster earrings and a white diamond fringe cuff bracelet to make sure this look is in line with Emma’s bold edgy glam style.Helen Mirren is one of the announced presenters for this weekend’s show. I have always loved seeing Helen on a red carpet and I cannot wait to see what look she will turn. She isn’t afraid of giving bold glamour on a red carpet and as I am working planning out the rest of awards season and headed into events like Cannes I cannot wait for Helen to serve more and more looks again. I was saving images from the Fall 2021 RTW collections when I saw this hot pink Tony Ward long sleeve a-line gown which features intricate beading on the bodice and sleeves, a jagged drop waist, and a tulle skirt. I immediately thought of Helen when I saw this gown and when I saw she was presenting at the SAG Awards I immediately thought of this gown. It’s such a bold statement moment and I know that Helen would be able to sell it to me easily especially with a sophisticated side parted hairstyle, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of hot pink Alexandre Vauthier crystal toe cap PVC sling back pointed toe pumps, and a bit more sparkle via white diamond Chopard ‘Precious’ collection white diamond cluster earrings. Finishing out today is Vanessa Kirby who has given some simple yet very chic looks this awards season wearing a simple black Gucci halter gown for the Globes and a red lace Saint Laurent gown for the Critics Choice Awards. I have definitely been paying attention to Vanessa and I am praying that she brings major looks to her final stops on the awards season circuit. She knows how to do major tailoring moments so I knew pretty immediately that I wanted to do this black and white Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 RTW tuxedo inspired ensemble for her to rock for the SAG Awards. I love this look which consists of a classic white button down shirt and a pair of black high waisted slim fit trousers with a major bow peplum detail. It is simple, sophisticated, and classic but in a way that SCREAMS drama. I mean can a look be classic and statement making at the same time? Because I definitely think that this look is exactly that. While Vanessa has a very no muss no fuss sense of style I think that the bow detail is within her wheelhouse. I think a sleek down hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black crystal embellished Christian Louboutin ‘Loubiloo Bling Bang’ twist strap ankle strap sandals, and Bulgari ‘Barroko’ collection white diamond and ruby bunting cluster drop earrings would ensure this look fit’s in perfectly with Vanessa’s red carpet vibe.

The 2021 SAG Awards special will broadcast on Sunday April 4, 2021.

2021 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The 2021 Grammy Awards are just a week away and like all the rest of awards season are going to look very different than normal. There will be no live audience, but the performers (who are expected to be announced today) are apparently working with the shows producers to give amazing performances in and around the Staples Center in LA where the Grammy’s show is traditionally held. While details have been kept very hush hush, which is I’m sure due to the pandemic and not knowing what would be allowed far in advance, we do know who the host will be this year. Trevor Noah is hosting this year and doing it for the first time a year to the day lockdowns started. I’ve always loved to see what he will do and I am really excited to see what he will bring in terms of his dialogue and his fashion. I’ve always paid attention to Trevor Noah on the red carpet. He’s rocked some superb fashion moments over the years and for the Grammy’s I went with 4 AMAZING looks for Trevor from 4 different designers and each one would make for a major fashion moment. Kicking things off with a major “red carpet” moment I would love to see Trevor wearing this black Alexander McQueen Spring 2021 Menswear tuxedo which feature a statement draped asymmetrical white bow detail. I feel like this look is a statement choice giving us a very avant garde take on traditional white tie formal dressing and I do think that it would be a phenomenal moment for him to bring to life, especially for the Grammy’s when styled with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlato Flat’ velvet, glittered lurex, and patent leather oxfords. Now with all of Trevor’s fashion connections I went for all statement looks for him to wear while hosting the 2021 Grammy Awards. Starting with haute couture and this Atelier Versace Fall 2020 Couture peak lapel tuxedo which featured an intricately beaded blush to black ombre embroidery. I’ve always been excited when Versace adds menswear to it’s couture collections and always disappointed that there aren’t more stars who embrace these chic, but boundary pushing ensembles. I feel like this is definitely something that Trevor would be drawn to and I can see it come together perfectly styled exactly as it was in the lookbook.

The second look for the telecast I picked for Trevor goes back to the idea of an idea many have endured for the last year and that is chic pajamas to work from home in. I wasn’t originally in my plans as I feel we are kind of over that whole shtick at this point, but then I was flipping through the Tom Ford Fall 2021 Menswear lookbook and saw this multi-tone/pattern loungewear ensemble which features a floral robe, light blue silk button down shirt, and teal/aqua polka dot trousers. It spoke to me. I’m still working from home and it is a look that I would wear easily. I feel like even for a quick moment that this would be a fun look to speak to where we are at this moment. I would keep the look pretty much the same but swap the loafers from the lookbook for a pair of black patent leather Tom Ford ‘Midland’ grosgrain detailed loafers.

My final wish for Trevor to host the Grammy’s is this midnight blue brushstroke print Moschino Fall 2020 Menswear shawl lapel tuxedo. When it comes to mens fashion there aren’t many men in the “red carpet scene” that I feel aren’t willing to push their boundaries enough to wear Moschino, but this very classically cut tuxedo with a subtle print is one that could easily allow for some to push their boundaries. Now that being said Trevor is one that will push the boundaries out of the classic black/navy solid tuxedo box and I think that this would be a wonderful moment for him to bring to the Grammy’s stage. Now I would make this look a little more statement making swapping the combat boots from the lookbook for a pair of silver sequin embellished Dolce & Gabbana derbies to make this a super cool fashion moment head to toe.

The 2021 Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on CBS Sunday March 14, 2021.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

I am loving awards season being back, even if the stars are zooming into the shows and there aren’t really red carpets. The glamour of it all might not be exactly the same, but it’s better than nothing. I am ready for more events and more looks. I am so over the blah moments and ready for more glamour, more effort, and more DRAMA. The five wishes in today’s Critics Choice Awards series are all glamorous, perfectly fitting for this red carpet, even if it were to happen in person, and I want to see them come to life. I can’t even recall if Annie Murphy was at the Globes on Sunday. I don’t remember seeing her and she didn’t post a look on Instagram. I want to see what she has to offer. She has rocked looks from must have labels like Dior and Valentino so I know she has the pull to get really cool moments. As I was flipping through my archives of images to find the perfect look for Annie I thought that this black cady Versace Pre-Fall 2021 fitted tea length gown which features a sweetheart neckline, bra like straps, and charm embellishments would be a really cool moment for her to bring to life for this red carpet. I feel like it definitely speaks to her sexy and glamorous side especially if styled with a sleek ponytail, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of major black satin Versace sequin embellished platform sandals, and some sparkle via champagne diamond Sutra three pendant drop earrings set in 18k rose gold.Cate Blanchett has skipped out on all of the virtual award shows so far including the Emmy’s and the Golden Globe’s so I am not holding out hope that she will be delivering a moment for the Critics Choice Awards. That isn’t going to stop me from dreaming. I fell in love with this sleek long sleeve gold Alberta Ferretti Fall 2021 RTW column gown which features intricate crystal, sequin, and tinsel fringe embellishments the moment I saw it and when I was thinking about what look I would love to see Cate wearing on this red carpet I knew that this would be a MAJOR moment. I can’t recall Cate ever doing disco glam on the red carpet, but I know that she would definitely be able to shut it down bringing this moment to life. I would let the gown be the focus of the look styling it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, nude pink lips, a pair of gold metallic leather, suede, and mesh Aquazzura ‘Savoy 105’ pointed toe pumps, and simple Pomellato ‘Nudo’ drop earrings in 18k rose and white gold with mother of pearl, white topaz, & white diamonds to really make this a major fashion moment for Cate. Glenn Close wore a simple maroon Lafayette 148 silk suit for the Globes. It wasn’t a boundary pushing moment, but it was chic. She also seemed to debut a horrid blunt bob with bangs that I just don’t love. I just don’t know how this hairstyle will make for any sort of good red carpet moments. That being said I would still like to see her give the effort and try to give us a look to love. I would love to see Glenn wearing this black Carolina Herrera silk chiffon gown which features long sheer sleeves, pleated bodice embellished with hand-embroidered 3D flowers, jewel neckline, and a dramatic train. It is simple, sophisticated, age appropriate, and elegant moment that I think is perfectly in line with Glenn’s style. I don’t know how to re-imagine her hair to make it work, but I would style this look with defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Tasha 100’ glittered mesh pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling white diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection cluster earrings with teardrop pendants I think would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. H.E.R. rocked a cool, but very casual, Valentino Couture look for the Globes. While it was cool I want to see an even more glamorous side to H.E.R.’s sense of style. So as I was looking for the perfect look for her to bring to life on the red carpet for the Critics Choice Awards and I saw this super cool black 16Arlington Fall 2021 RTW ruffled suit and thought it would be the perfect moment. This suit is a very flirty take on the classic pantsuit and I love the feminine rock and roll vibe that it gives off which is exactly what I think of when I think of H.E.R.’s style. I think a sleek hairstyle, smokey eyes behind red and green striped clear acrylic Gucci oversized square sunglasses, bold red lips, a pair of black Tom Ford ‘Disco’ platform curved sculptural heel ankle strap sandals, and a statement Jacob & Co. High Jewelry emerald and white diamond choker necklace would definitely make this a MAJOR fashion moment for H.E.R..Finishing out today is the gorgeous Regina King who was easily one of my Best Dressed at the Golden Globe Awards where she wore one of the best custom Louis Vuitton gowns ever made. I am very excited to see what she will wear all awards season long. She is a major fashion girl and loves to show up and show out. I went for a statement suit moment for her to wear for the Critics Choice red carpet opting for this black Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 tuxedo with a bold fuschia asymmetrical bow detail on the blazer. It is a statement look that I would style with a pulled back hairstyle, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, black Christian Louboutin ‘Victorilla’ strappy pointed toe pumps, and a selection of Vanleles jewels including a pair of ruby halo set white diamond ‘The Nile’ stud earrings, a statement ‘Out of Africa’ white diamond and Mozambican responsibly sourced cabochon rubelite shield cocktail ring, and a simple ‘The Nile’ pave set white diamond band ring to really make sure this look comes together perfectly.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 14

Well I have one more detailed set of wishes for this weekends Golden Globe Awards. This set includes 4 glamorous moments for women who were announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as presenters for this years show yesterday and I cannot wait to see what everyone will wear. Each of these women, as are all of this years presenters, are expected to show up in person for this years show. So let’s get us into these wishes shall we?I always love seeing Angela Bassett on the red carpet. She knows how to bring drama to the red carpet and I know that she will bring a major moment for this years Golden Globe Awards. I am definitely setting my expectations high. I went left of a typical gown option for Angela instead going for the drama thanks to this deep royal blue Azzi & Osta Fall 2020 Couture pant ensemble which features a blouse with a v-neckline, structured peplum embellished with embroidered feathers, and dramatic ruffled cape sleeves that turn into a train paired with matching straight leg trousers. There are very few people who I think could actually sell this look to me and I think that Angela is definitely in that small list. I would make it even more major styling this look with a center parted pulled back afro, thick defined smokey eyes, nude glossy lips, a pair of navy and silver ombre glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Love 85’ pointed toe pumps, and simple yet dazzling white diamond Gismondi 1754 ‘Essenza’ drop earrings. Jamie Lee Curtis has had a love of wearing off the rack Alexander McQueen dresses for a while now so when I saw her name on the list of presenters for this years Golden Globe Awards I immediately went back to the brand. I scoured the virtual racks to find the perfect gown and immediately fell in love with this hot pink long sleeve jersey Alexander McQueen gown which features strong shoulders, draped detailing, and a side split. It is strong and sophisticated and I just think that it would be a really powerful look for Jamie to wear on the red carpet. Now I will say I hate the way that Harrods styled the look for their store pictures. I would change things up styling this look with Jamie’s signature platinum grey pixie, defined eyes, light pink lips, a hot pink metal Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, a pair of hot pink satin pointed toe pumps from The Attico with strappy ankle tie details, and a dazzling white diamond collar necklace and matching cocktail ring from Amwaj to really make this a major glamour moment. Laura Dern really started her journey to Oscar gold last year at the Golden Globe Awards where she took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture trophy. She will be on hand this year as a presenter and I hope her fashion choices this year are much better than they were last year. As I was doing my search I saw this black lace Azzedine Alaia Fall 2021 RTW sleeveless gown which features features a pleated construction and intricate braided details on the bodice that add a visual edgy statement to the look and thought it was the perfect option for Laura. It is edgy, modern, and sexy but oh so glamorous and I think that would be a perfect look for Laura to wear for the Golden Globe Awards. I would style this gown with old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, defined eyes, nude lips, black mesh trimmed Azzedine Alaia strappy suede strappy platform sandals, and a selection of jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of pendant earrings designed in house by Fred Leighton inspired by their antique floral elements with sumptuous Old Mine and Old European cut diamonds and a 19th Century bracelet in oval plaques filled with old mine cut diamonds to ensure it’s a perfect moment for Laura head to toe. Finishing out this list is the beautiful Salma Hayek. I like to refer to her as the first lady of Kering as her husband is the CEO of the fashion powerhouse conglomerate. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that we almost always see Salma wearing looks from the companies different fashion houses. The biggest jewel in the Kering crown is Gucci and that is the brand that Salma turns to the most often. I won’t lie I haven’t loved Salma in Gucci since Alessandro Michele took the reigns, but I have to say that as soon as I saw this light pink pleated one shoulder gown from the Gucci Spring 2021 RTW collection I knew it was a perfect look for Salma. It is simple and chic and I think that is exactly what she needs for a successful Gucci moment on the red carpet. Now I would love to see her style this look with a dramatic sleek sculpted twists updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pink brocade Gucci ‘Broadway’ clutch embellished with a crystal dagger piercing a crystal heart, a pair of light pink Gucci knotted metallic leather sling back peep toe sandals, and a selection of Boucheron High Jewelry including white diamond tassel drop earrings and a white diamond and pink morganite ‘Plume de Paon’ feather inspired cocktail ring to really make this one of her best red carpet moments in a long time.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years event here.

2021 Palm Springs International Film Festival Black Tie Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Today’s wishes for the sadly cancelled red carpet at the 2021 Palm Springs International Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala is all about the tuxedo. The tuxedo is such a staple, but the three below are all just a little different and stray away from the classic cut just enough to be interesting. On men and women the tuxedo is a staple and I definitely love to see a major tuxedo moment on the red carpet. So let’s see what the wishes for today are shall we?Nomadland director Chloe Zhao was given the honor of Director of the Year from the Palm Springs International Film Festival. As I’ve previously said having looked at Chloe’s style she isn’t really one to get all dolled up and dressed to the 9’s so I feel like this awards season from home is perfect for her. I would love to have seen what she would have brought to the red carpets though. In my Globes wish I went for dazzle with a Tom Ford sequined gown, but I had already picked this black Thom Brown Pre-Fall 2021 shrunken tuxedo for her to wear for this red carpet when I made that pick. This tuxedo seems like it might have been a little more authentic for Chloe and I definitely think that it would have been a cool moment for her. Now I would have styled this look with a sleek low bun, barely there makeup, and a pair of black crystal embellished Thom Browne ‘Opera’ loafers to make it perfect for this red carpet. Eddie Redmayne is part of the cast of The Trial of the Chicago 7 which is being honored with the Vanguard Award. When it comes to my own personal style icons I have several of Eddie’s past red carpet looks on my mood board, though ever since his Oscar run it’s been a lot more on the safe side. I want to see him take risks again. I want to see him wear different things again. So I decided to push the envelope a little bit with this black Alexander McQueen Fall 2020 Menswear collection tuxedo which features a blazer on a blazer jacket. The jacket is definitely very “fashion” I feel like it wouldn’t work for many of the mainstream red carpets during awards season like the Golden Globes or the Oscars, but I definitely think it would be a great option for a red carpet like the Palm Springs International Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala. I would love this tuxedo without a bow tie and a pair of black leather Alexander McQueen logo engraved silver heel-plaque detailed oxfords. Joseph Gordon Levitt would have most likely joined Eddie, and some of his other The Trial of the Chicago 7 co-stars on the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. I don’t know what it was about Joseph that really made me want to include him in these wishes. He isn’t one that pushes boundaries very often. I didn’t push the boundaries with my wish either opting for this navy wool & mohair Prada shawl collar one button tuxedo. It is a chic classic tuxedo moment and I feel that the color would be enough boundary pushing for Joseph Gordon Levitt. I would style this tuxedo with a classic white pleated tuxedo shirt, a black silk bow tie, a pair of black polished saffiano leather Prada lace up oxfords, and a black Prada enameled triangle logo pin with saffiano leather trim to make this an uber chic menswear moment. Now I couldn’t go a whole post without a gown. Have you met me? Or at least been a regular reader? I am a lover of glamour and gowns so of course there had to be one included in today’s wishes. Caitlin Fitzgerald is also a part of the cast of The Trial of the Chicago 7 and while the Screen Actors Guild didn’t include her in the list of cast eligible for the Best Ensemble Cast I still would have loved to see her on red carpets this awards season. She is a statuesque beauty who I feel like would deliver some uber chic moments on the red carpet. For the Palm Springs International Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala I would have loved to see Caitlin wearing this light dove grey Marchesa Spring 2021 RTW satin halter gown which features in incredibly intricate crystal embellished neckline, open back, and a column silhouette. The gown is just simplistic glamour but that neckline really does pack a whole lot of punch. A sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a silver sequin embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of strappy silver metallic leather Alexandre Vauthier ‘Jourdan’ crystal tassel embellished sandals, and a selection of simple Norman Silverman jewels including double halo set white diamond square stud earrings and a white diamond mixed fancy shape bracelet would make this look ooze glamour from head to toe.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

Today is mostly about the cast of The Crown, but also for Emily In Paris. It’s a day all about shows set in Europe that have casts dedicated to high fashion. I am really hoping that we see more broadcast events at the Golden Globe Awards like we saw with the cast of Schitt’s Creek do at the 2020 Emmy Awards. The cast of The Crown would be one of the best to do so. Let’s get into all of today’s wishes shall we?Emma Corrin is my favorite to take home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama trophy. I was enamored by her portrayal of Princess Diana in the fourth season of the anthology series. I am actually very disappointed that will be all she will get as she is being replaced (as is the whole cast) in the shows final two seasons. So I want her, and her stylist Harry Lambert, to have some major fun with fashion during this awards season. As I was looking at the Valentino Pre-Fall 2021 collection and I saw this black silk slip style gown which features thin straps, an open back and a sequined neckline and immediately knew I had found my Globes gown for Emma. Now the more simplistic of this gown might lend itself to more of the Critics Choice or SAG Awards, but I feel like should Emma customize this gown to have a long train behind it to add drama. It would be a very sexy yet sophisticated moment for the young actress to bring to life for her first Golden Globe Awards. I would keep the styling of this look very modern yet glamorous with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a black Jeffrey Levinson ‘Elina Plus’ liquid glitter clutch, a pair of black crystal embellished Valentino ‘Rockstud’ sandals, and a selection of MAJOR Repossi jewels including miss-matched earcuffs one ‘SSV’ 3 row white diamond earcuff and one ‘Luminant’ white diamond and emerald earcuff as well as a ‘Serti Sur Vide’ 2 row white diamond ring, and a ‘Brevis’ 2 pear diamond open ring to really make this a major fashion moment for Emma. Previous Golden Globe Award winner Gillian Anderson’s portrayal of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has earned her her sixth nomination. When it comes to fashion Gillian is always one to deliver glamour on the red carpet. I went through several ideas of what I thought I wanted to see from Gillian on this red carpet, but it was ultimately a deep azurite blue Safiyaa Fall 2020 RTW column gown which features an asymmetrical bodice and a crystal embellished cape detail that I thought would be the perfect moment. It is the perfect meshing of classic and modern glamour. It is absolute glamour and I know that with a sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a dark blue crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture faceted rectangle clutch, navy glitter Aquazzura gem embellished pointed toe mules, and statement white diamond Dena Kemp leaf drop earrings it would be head to toe perfection. Josh O’Connor is one of the men this awards season I am interested in seeing bring a new and interesting moment to life on the red carpets of awards season. I feel like the title of Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama is Josh’s to loose and to accept the Globe I would love to see him serve a LOOK. The moment I saw this black Fendi Spring 2021 Couture asymmetrical buttoned up tuxedo with a ring detail on the jacket, cutout details on the cuffs of the sleeves, a white fishnet lace cuff detail, and trousers with a side split I saw it on Josh. It is a fun and fashiony take on the classic tuxedo and I know that Josh has the presence and carriage to bring this look to life. The details in this look are special enough that I wouldn’t add much to it except for a pair of black leather Fendi square toe chelsea boots. Olivia Colman has worn Stella McCartney and Emilia Wickstead on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet the last two years. While I did like the Stella gown well enough the Wickstead last year was horrendous. I know she has some major potential and I want to see her live up to it. As I planned these wishes I thought a lot about re-wearing and to be honest there aren’t many looks that Olivia ha worn that I would actually like to see her bring back to the red carpet. But there was a red Antonio Berardi cap sleeve asymmetric column gown with a small train that Olivia wore for the 2018 Venice Film Festival award ceremony (pictured left) that I could see her bringing back out. Now I still would love to see Olivia bring a glamorous and new moment to the red carpet for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards and so I turned to this midnight blue Alexander McQueen cape detailed chiffon gown with a fitted waist, jewel neck, and an a-line skirt. It is glamorous and dramatic all on it’s own, but I would love to see the team at McQueen modify this dress to have a train to add even more drama. I would finish the look with a chic pixie, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a navy velvet Jimmy Choo ‘Ellipse’ crystal trimmed clutch, a pair of black suede Alexander McQueen flower detailed peep toe d’orsay platform pumps, and a DAZZLING vintage 1950’s art deco scroll white diamond necklace to really make this look head to toe perfection.I think that the whole world was shocked that Lily Collins earned a Golden Globe Award nomination thanks to her performance in Emily in Paris. She has been serving up some superb looks while in lockdown and I really want to see her bring a BOLD glamour look for the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. So of course couture had to be my choice. I picked this bold neon yellow strapless ballgown from the Ashi Studio Spring 2021 Couture collection. On first glance this ballgown is all about the color and is a very simplistic look, but from behind it is a bow strap detailed open back. Now it is a big dress and could overwhelm Lily’s petite figure, but I believe that with the right tailoring and styling it would be perfection. I would style this look with a sleek rosette inspired updo embellished with with a white diamond Harry Winston cluster brooch, defined eyes, light pink lips, a pair of silver and gold Casadei ankle strap platform sandals, and a dazzling white marquis cut and yellow diamond cushion cut Harry Winston necklace to really make it a statement making moment for Lily to bring to life for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years event here.

“I Care A Lot” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

I Care a Lot is an American dark comedy thriller film written and directed by J Blakeson that stars Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage, Eiza González, Chris Messina, and Dianne Wiest. The film had its world premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival, with unfortunately no red carpet. It is scheduled to have a streaming release in most countries on February 19, 2021, through either Netflix and Prime Video depending on the region. The premise of the film is about a woman who makes her living stealing from the elderly by deceiving judges into appointing her as their “legal guardian” but finds herself in hot water when her latest victim turns out to have ties to a powerful gangster. This seems like it will be a great break from the Rom-Com movies that have dominated during quarantine. I am just as disappointed as I was for the cancelling of red carpets in Toronto to know that there won’t be a red carpet promoted by Netflix for this film either since there are two red carpet heavy hitters among the cast. Eiza González is still a rising star when it comes to red carpet dressing, but she has had major moments from labels like Ralph Lauren, Brandon Maxwell, Prabal Gurung, and Carolina Herrera. For my wish for what I would have loved to see her wear on the red carpet to premiere I Care A Lot I went for a moment that is all about color with this bold green screen green Elie Saab Spring 2021 one shoulder crepe jumpsuit which features cutouts on the back, wide leg trousers, a shawl scarf extension, and complementary crepe belt. This look is definitely bold. I always have a hard time picking this color because I know it can be the look that launches a million memes because of how easy it is to cut out and replace this color in photoshop. We all saw how it worked out for a certain former First Lady. Even with my reservations I still think that Eiza would absolutely shut down this moment especially if styled with a sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a pair of nude mesh Casadei ‘Blake’ pointed toe ankle strap pumps, and a little bit of sparkle via IVY New York ‘Mistletoe’ tsavorite and diamond drop earrings. I have always been a fan of Rosamund Pike’s style and I cannot wait to see her back on the red carpet. When choosing a red carpet look Rosamund always goes for something sharp so I knew immediately the look I had in mind for her for this wish list. Had there been a premiere for I Care A Lot I would have loved to see Rosamund step out onto the red carpet wearing this white Alexander McQueen Spring 2021 RTW ensemble which features a cropped one button blazer over a layered frayed tulle sheer dress with side cutouts and a black leather belted waist. This look is sharp and soft all at the same time. The structure of the blazer offsets the softness of the layers of tulle beautifully and I know that Rosamund would definitely be the perfect person to bring this look to life on a red carpet, again. I say again because Chinese supermodel Liu Wen wore this look to the presentation of the collection in China back in December. I still think it would be a great moment for Rosamund and the two would wear it in vastly different ways. While Liu wore a the look as presented in the lookbook I would have Rosamund style it with white satin Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crustal trimmed pointed toe pumps, a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, a pop of color via red lips and a pair of simple emerald cut emerald Bulgari stud earrings trimmed in white diamonds. It would definitely have made for another major moment for Rosamund.

I Care A Lot will premiere on Netflix on Friday February 19, 2021.

2020 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Well, I was SWAMPED with my actual job lately and I’ve been neglecting If I Was A Stylist as a result. That means that even though I had 14 posts planned for the 2020 Emmy Awards, which take place tonight, all I was able to do is this all in gallery for the nominees, presenters, and cast members of nominated projects. I am really interested to see how the Emmy’s will work from home with production kits sent to over 130 different locations. How will the fashion fare? We saw the fashion factor happen for the VMA’s and then Venice Film Festival actually happened in person and I was THRILLED. So in my wishes for this years event I’ve pulled looks hot off the runway this past week during NYFW, things shown seasons ago, as well as several looks I would love to see stars pull out of their archives and give another go. So check out my 54 wishes below and let me know which ones you would most like to see come true.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “The Human Voice” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The Human Voice was added to the Out of Competition selection in Venice after the full selection was released. The new film by Pedro Almodóvar, filmed and edited in record time as soon as the lockdown was lifted – The Human Voice, adapted from Jean Cocteau and starring Tilda Swinton. Since Swinton is being honored with an Honorary Golden Lion (the top prize in Venice) this year I was surprised that she didn’t have a film screening at the festival. Apparently so was the festival so they added The Human Voice. Almodóvar says: “I am very excited about coming back to Venice in such a special year, with COVID-19 as [an] involuntary guest. Everything will be different, and I am looking forward to discovering it in person.
It is an honour to accompany Tilda in a year in which she is receiving a very much deserved award Almodóvar was given the same honor last year). As a matter of fact, The Human Voice is a festival of Tilda, a display of her infinite and assorted registers as an actress. It’s been a spectacle to direct her.”So to promote The Human Voice I found to superb couture moments for the illustrious Tilda Swinton. I am always a fan of the actresses avant garde style and I cannot wait to see what she will bring to the red carpet in Venice. For the photocall I went for strong suiting with this draped white crepe wool Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture skirt suit. I adore this simple take on the classic skirt suit and I definitely think that it would be a super chic moment for Tilda to wear for the casual photocall event in Venice. I feel like it would be great with her flame orange red hair in a chic coif, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of white lace Gianvito Rossi ‘Liliane’ pointed toe pumps. Now for the premiere I went for DAZZLE picking this silver and white floral sequined Givenchy Spring 2020 Couture column gown which features a voluminous cocoon caped bodice. I love this dress and I hope it won’t be lost to the archive. The new creative director is now on the job at Givenchy so I don’t know if the house will allow stylists to option Clare Waight Keller’s final couture collection for the house. I hope so because I know that Tilda would shut it down especially if styled with her signature coif, defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ PVC detailed pointed toe pumps. I appreciate that Venice decided to add One Night in Miami and The Human Voice to the selection. It allowed me to add wishes for Cate Blanchett that I felt I was missing. I really wanted to include an Alexander McQueen look for Cate to wear in Venice. I always love when she bring the avant garde labels creations to life on the red carpet. In keeping with Cate’s more sustainable approach to fashion I’ve been including several archive moments I would love to see her bring out and give red carpet moments. We didn’t see many of the looks from the final Alexander McQueen collection from the houses eponymous founder on the red carpet. I would die if Cate showed up on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival wearing this black long sleeve a-line gown which features intricate gold beaded embroidery on the bodice and sleeves, and a pleated skirt from the Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 RTW collection. I feel like it would definitely be a major fashion moment on the red carpet. A sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of black and gold Pierre Hardy crystal embellished strappy sandals, and vintage gold Van Cleef & Arpels earrings set with circular-cut diamonds circa 1945 would definitely make sure this look is the perfect balance of drama and glamour. I’d also been thinking of a Prada or Miu Miu look for Venice jury member Ludivine Sagnier so the addition of this set of wishes allowed me to add a set for her. So I would love to see her take this black crinkled silk Prada Resort 2021 strapless midi dress and customize it turning it into a floor length ballgown with a sweeping train. It isn’t an avant garde over embellished moment we are used to seeing from Prada on the red carpet, especially not on a red carpet like this, but I feel like with Miuccia’s turn towards simplicity with the Resort 2021 season that it would be a really cool moment. I think that taking that customized gown styling it with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, pink glossy lips, a black satin Prada jeweled applique clutch, a pair of black Prada crystal embellished sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 white diamond teardrop paisley earrings would definitely make it a cool and glamorous moment. I’ve heard that Spanish actress and model Ester Exposito is heading to Venice to walk the red carpets. When I first heard that news my mind went directly to Etro. The Italian fashion brand has become such a major red carpet heavy hitter and I am expecting to see several looks from the label on the red carpet. So I went shopping from the runways and the virtual store racks and didn’t really find anything that I love. So I’m getting creative. I did love this gold lame long sleeve wrap style dress from the Etro Fall 2020 RTW collection which features a daring plunging neckline, center split, and an intricately embroidered wide velvet belt. I would love to see Ester rock a custom gown using this as inspiration. I feel like cutting the sleeves and making this a sleeveless disco gown lengthening the skirt to hit the floor could make it a super sexy glamorous moment for Ester. Taking this gown styling with a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, pink lips, a gold glitter resin Yliana Yepez ‘Eva’ tassel detailed minaudiere, a pair of gold metallic leather Jimmy Choo ‘Tesca’ strappy sandals, and a statement white diamond and multicolored precious stone Bulgari ‘Barocko’ collection bib necklace would definitely be a super glam moment for Ester. Now in a second wish for her I wanted to give Ester a modern princess moment with this dark midnight blue, gold, and white watercolor marble pattern Georges Hobeika Fall 2020 Couture ballgown which features a plunging neckline and a thin gold belted waist. I really think that this gown would be a gorgeous moment. I would love to see her take this gown and deliver it on the red carpet in Venice with a sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of gold ombre glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pointed toe pumps, and a Pomellato High Jewelry ‘Gourmette’ chain necklace made up of 2900 brown diamonds with a total of 69 carats that took the master jewelers 190 hours of work to complete. When I was adding another star who I would love to see rock the red carpet in Venice to represent Armani I really wanted make a statement so I decided to go with Zendaya. We’ve seen Zendaya front row at the Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture presentation as well as wearing the label for the Spider-Man: Far From Home premiere. So I would LOVE to see Zendaya on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival rocking two MAJOR gowns from the brands archive starting with this hot pink Armani Prive Fall 2007 Couture strapless high low bustier ballgown which features a bow layered ball skirt with black lining. To me this is the Zendaya style version of the iconic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes Marilyn Monroe gown. I really love to see her bring this major moment to life with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, soft smokey eyes, bold pink lips, a pair of matching hot pink Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ crystal embellished suede and PVC pointed toe pumps, and a dazzling Tiffany & Co. 2020 Blue Book collection white diamond and pink tourmaline strand bib necklace. The second look I picked for Zendaya isn’t as big, but just as statement making. I love this acid green strapless Armani Prive Spring 2012 Couture column gown which features a reptile skin beaded body and a feathered hem. This look was from the repeat show in Beijing where Giorgio Armani added a couple of new looks to the ones shown from the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. I would LOVE to see Zendaya slink down a major red carpet like Venice wearing this gown. Make it perfection with an abstract yet sleek retro inspired updo, soft smokey eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Loubi Queen’ ankle strap sandals. I would also like to see Zendaya highlight a black owned high jewelry brand with this gown styling the look with Vanlees jewels including a pair of white diamond and emerald ‘Legends of Africa’ wing earrings and a matching statement ‘Legends of Africa’ cuff bracelet. Glamour and a message.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.
