2019 American Music Awards: Hostess Ciara Red Carpet Wish List

Sunday night is the 2019 American Music Awards. This years show will be hosted by Ciara, and after the major performance by last years host Tracee Ellis Ross (both in comedy and in fashion) I would say that she has some big shoes to fill. I was actually really excited to start picking looks for Ciara to wear on the red carpet and stage for Sunday nights awards. I initially pulled almost 400 images of ready to wear and couture runway looks as well as some off the rack looks that I think would give Ciara the best stage wardrobe of any awards show host this year. I decided to be a little different in how I would present the wishes to you. Typically I would write paragraphs about each individual look picking all of the accessories that I would style the look with, but I just didn’t have time to style all the looks. But I still wanted to make sure I put out fashion wishes for Ciara which you can see below.

I started the night with a chic high low Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture strapless gown for Ciara to wear on the red carpet. It is a glamorous and flirty moment that I think would kick the night off in style. Now that being said I am really excited about all the wardrobe changes that I’ve picked for Ciara to quick change into over the course of the show. In addition to that red carpet gown I picked 8 looks for Ciara to wear during the live show. They start with edgy glam in Jean Louis Sebaj Couture and travel through a color and length story throughout finishing with a statement tangerine orange Georges Hobeika Fall 2019 Couture jumpsuit with a major bow and sash moment. When it came to picking these looks I focused on two things color and embellishments. Really only two looks, a lime green silk Versace Spring 2020 RTW strapless mini dress and a hot pink hype beast vibe Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh Spring 2020 RTW high low gown, were devoid of any crystal embellishments. Pants looks also featured heavily as I picked all the looks I wanted to see Ciara wearing on the American Music Awards stage this weekend. Ultimately I decided on three very different pant moments for Ciara from Aliette, Balmain, and Georges Hobeika.

I do expect that Ciara will deliver a major night of fashion this weekend as she hosts the 2019 American Music Awards and I am really excited to see all of the looks that she will bring to life on this red carpet and stage.

The 2019 American Music Awards will take place on Sunday November 24, 2019.

2019 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 14

As we near the end of my 2019 Met Gala wishes I still have so many ideas to put out into the universe that I just had to surprise you guys and double up on wishes. Camp is art that proposes itself seriously, but cannot be taken altogether seriously because it is “too much.” That is a line straight out of Susan Sontag’s “Notes on ‘Camp.'” I am really intrigued in seeing what everyone will wear on this red carpet. Met Gala looks are typically considered ‘Too Much’ by the general public, so I am interested in seeing how designers, stylists, and stars handle purposefully being too much. Emily Blunt is a Met Gala regular. She doesn’t typically stick to a theme, but this year I would like to see her as part of the Gucci gang giving giving a chic yet extra fashion moment. I honestly didn’t know I wanted this custom Gucci gown which features a mint satin crystal beaded bodice, 3D ruffled shoulders, a floral detailed waist, and a salmon pink velvet draped column skirt until Evita, who edits all the images of these custom gowns for me, sent it to me. She used the bodice of a Gucci Fall 2019 RTW dress to create this gown. It is this very flirty and feminine take on ‘Camp’ style and I think that is exactly what I think would be perfect for Emily to wear on this red carpet. Defined eyes lined in lavender, a romantic updo, rose pink lips, a blush satin Jimmy Choo ‘Crystal Bow Cloud’ clutch, rose pink Jimmy Choo ‘Milly’ strappy leather sandals, and a pair of padparadscha sapphire Lorraine Schwartz drop earrings would all ensure that Emily does this theme perfectly, but in her own way. It still baffles me that Kiernan Shipka has not been invited to a Met Gala in the past. I am hoping that with the major success of her Netflix series Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina I am praying that invitation finally arrives for Kiernan. I know that she could definitely come to hang with almost anyone on this red carpet and definitely live up to the expectations that I have set for her. I would love to see Kiernan rock her first Met Gala red carpet as a guest of Prada. I mentioned in the post earlier today that I want to see some of the Prada Spring 2019 RTW collection tie dye prints turned into amazing custom gowns for this years Met Gala red carpet and so while I don’t know if they would do two tie dye gowns for the same red carpet I would love to see them create this strapless a-line gown which features all over sequin fabrication of that black, silver, pink, and blue tie dye print. For most I would want to see a dramatic train added for the Met Gala red carpet, but I don’t think that should be the case for this gown for Kiernan especially with how I want to style it. Her short hair styled into a wavy bob with one of the Prada Spring 2019 Couture black satin oversized headbands embellished with white and pink crystals, winged eyes, soft pink lips, a black velvet and glitter The Volon ‘Cindy’ rose pink feather detailed chain strap evening bag, a pair of black satin Prada crystal embellished sandals, and vintage Harry Kotlar diamond cluster earrings would make this the perfect look for Kiernan to rock for her Met Gala debut. Miley Cyrus has been debuting more of a soft feminine vibe on the red carpet for the last year or so. Miley on a ‘Camp’ themed Met Gala red carpet 5-7 years ago would have been a trip. She would have probably shown up in a crystal embellished body suit by The Blonds and not much else. Now I am doing something that is much more flirty and feminine than what I would have expected had this gala happened back then. I was inspired by the Miu Miu Fall 2019 RTW collection and the chic tiered taffeta mini dresses that came down the runway. There was one look that came down that runway that had a camo print that I thought was perfect for this years Met Gala theme, even if it is the wrong version of ‘Camp.’ It fits Miley’s country roots. This strapless ballgown features a silver belt with a thick metal buckle and would be perfectly styled with chic old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, dark pink lips, a pair of silver Chloe Gosselin ‘Tori’ crystal fringe detailed sandals, and Djula ‘Beverly Hills’ emerald cut diamond wreath earrings.Rosie Huntington-Whiteley recently announced that she is pregnant again, and thus threw off my Met Gala wish for her. I was going to do this heart shaped pleated lame Attico Fall 2019 RTW mini dress, but I decided it wouldn’t work if Rosie is showing a bit of a bump by the time the Met Gala rolls around on the first Monday in May. I decided that I wanted to keep Rosie in an Attico design, so I went on a hunt deciding that custom was the way to go. So I found a pastel 3D floral sequined mini dress from the Attico Fall 2019 RTW collection on Moda Operandi and thought they were perfect for this red carpet. The original dress only had flowers on the front and a plain back panel down the back. I personally want to see those flowers completely covering both the front and back of this gown. Now it is a chic and dramatic moment all at the same time as it is pictured here, but I was thinking that adding some sort of mint silk bow sash detail waist that turns into a train to add another element of drama to this look. A sleek high bun, smokey eyes, bold pink lips, a mint green metallic python Edie Parker ‘Jean’ clutch, chic nude Aquazzura ‘Spritz’ crystal embellished leather mule sandals, and a pair of Chopard amethyst, lime-green emerald, sky-blue sapphire and diamond drop earrings would definitely finish this look out with feminine elegance. Sofia Carson has really been upping her style game wearing a lot of Giambattista Valli Couture lately. She definitely fits well with the French couture brand, but when it came to the look I want to see her wear if she makes her Met Gala debut this year is from one of the other French couture houses, this one a legacy house. Schiaparelli hasn’t been worn by a major star on the Met Gala red carpet since its revival. That honestly surprises me since it was the 2012 gala that inspired the resurrection of the label. I am hoping that since it seems like there are a few both modern and original Schiaparelli designs in this years Costume Institute exhibit, which is where the Met Gala theme comes from, that we will finally get a major Met Gala moment for Schiaparelli. I think that this white and blush pink Schiaparelli Spring 2019 Couture strapless ballgown is definitely perfect for this years ‘Camp’ theme and I honestly believe that Sofia is the perfect person to bring this gown to life on this red carpet. It is that big princess moment that Sofia loves and I believe that if she is invited that she would absolutely deliver a chic princess moment for her first Met Gala. Finish this look with a sleek high bun updo, defined eyes, bold pink lips, a pair of hot pink satin Roger Vivier ‘Lavalliere’ pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz diamond ear jackets all would ensure that Sofia brings that princess glamour in the most perfect way possible to her first Met Gala red carpet. Uma Thurman rounds out today’s wishes with a gown I’m honestly not sure we will see on this years red carpet. It has been reported that Dior isn’t buying a table at this years gala so I am expecting the brands presence to be minimal at best. I do however adore this dark pewter and teal metallic lame pleated Christian Dior Spring 2019 Couture caped gown and I believe that it is perfect for Uma Thurman. It would mesh Uma’s more elegant style, the more bohemian vibe of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior, and this years ‘Camp’ theme. A romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Sereno’ crystal buckle sandals, and chic Chopard Haute Joallerie diamond drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this look.

The 2019 Met Gala will take place on the first Monday in May: May 6, 2019.

15 Looks From Milan Fashion Week Spring 2019 I Want To See On The Red Carpet

Milan Fashion Week ended almost two and a half weeks ago, but I have just been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to get my 15 favorite looks that I want to see on the red carpet list out there. These posts take a lot of time not just because I have to go through all of the collections and narrow down all the looks down to just 15 but have to research the collections and then pick who I want to see wearing the looks on the red carpet. Over the course of Milan Fashion Week I saved over 350 looks that I think have red carpet potential. These looks cover everything from major gowns to cocktail moments to chic casual looks for press events to edgy performance looks. I went through all of those collections and narrowed them down to the following 15. These are the looks from Milan Fashion Week – Spring 2019 that I want to see on a red carpet.Attico: One of the brands that I have loved watching grow over the last year is Attico. It is one of the chicest, very Italian brands who deliver very wearable glamour in their collections. For Spring 2019 RTW the collection was a major love letter to the 80’s and I definitely think we will see many looks from he collection on the red carpet. Over the last year stars have really embraced the brand for cocktail and press appearances. In fact Olga Kurylenko has already brought a feathered buster and leather cargo pants ensemble from the brands Spring 2019 RTW collection to life for the London premiere of Jenny English Strikes Again. I went for more a simple look from this collection for Jennifer Lopez with this lilac and orange creamsicle fluid pois jacquard ‘Pat’ dress which features puff shoulders, faux wrap style, a v-neckline, a tie detail at waist, and embellished shoulder details. This dress is very chic and wearable and if JLo rocked this for a press stop during her upcoming movie promo tour I think it would be perfection.

Dolce & Gabbana: In the wake of Stefano Gabbana calling Selena Gomez, whom Dolce & Gabbana had dressed several times over the years, ugly it seemed like the Time’s Up movement was going to really push a boycott of the brand. However since the brand is such a fashion powerhouse I don’t think is going to stop stars from wearing the brand on the red carpet. In fact Cardi B just wore a dramatic gown from this collection on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Aside from that Domenico & Stefano showed a collection that really embraced all of the codes that they have infused into the brands DNA over the last 33 years. The show was a celebration of women, a diverse group of women. There were women of different sizes, every color, and many age groups. It was actually really beautiful. The moment I saw this blue and natural sleeveless mixed-fringe midi dress which features contrasting rows of fringe and tassels throughout, a midi length, and a column silhouette I pictured it being rocked by Amal Clooney as she is spotted headed out on a date night with George.

Emporio Armani: I usually wouldn’t pay much attention to Emporio Armani, but with bold colors and sparkling embellishments my inner magpie was drawn to this collection. This faction of the Armani brand is usually geared towards a younger crowd and I really think that there are quite a few looks that young Hollywood stars will want to fight over. I think that if anyone could really make this electric lime green and royal blue strapless jumpsuit which features intricate sequin and feathered embroidery and I definitely think it would be Halsey.Ermanno Scervino: When you look at an Ermanno Scervino collection you know you are going to get two things volume and glamour. The brand is known for those and doesn’t veer from that very often. While you don’t get boundary pushing designs like you can find at other Milan based brands like Marni, Prada, or Gucci you know that there will be great red carpet options from Ermanno Scervino. Orange is a huge trend for Spring 2019 RTW and I think that Jasmine Sanders would be the perfect person to bring this Ermanno Scervino Spring 2019 RTW orange tea length gown which features a strapless sweetheart neckline and dramatic ruffles offering of the trend to life on the red carpet.

Etro: While Etro is a very successful brand when it comes to sales they don’t often get a whole lot of red carpet love. The brand, known for bold eccentric prints, doesn’t focus on celebrities to influence sales likes some other brands so when they do end up on a red carpet I get very excited. There aren’t a whole lot of looks from the Etro Spring 2019 RTW collection that I think could be red carpet looks, but this black white and yellow floral print one shoulder gown is definitely one that I think could be really chic. I think that if anyone could really make this look work, probably on one of the more causal party red carpets, it would be supermodel turned actress Suki Waterhouse.

Fausto Puglisi: In an off season from showing a runway show Fausto Puglisi showed an 80’s Flashdance inspired collection in a presentation/lookbook. The collection was very much repetitive, but it is definitely something that I think many music stars will be drawn to. While I typically pick red carpet looks for this list it was this cape meets letterman jacket and color blocked swimsuit that really spoke to me from this collection. I immediately pictured Rita Ora rocking this look for one of her many performances. Giorgio Armani: I wasn’t thrilled with the Giorgio Armani Spring 2019 RTW. I was hoping for really amazing things, but I was rather underwhelmed with what Mr. Armani sent down the runway. The fit of the collection overall was terrible and the color palette reminded me of a Dixie disposable cup. I do however want to thee this Monet ‘Waterlilies’ inspired print beaded fringe cap sleeve jumpsuit which features a plunging v-neckline, and cutout sides and back on the red carpet and wouldn’t supermodel Karolina Kurkova just really deliver this look with ease on the red carpet?

Marni: Marni is one of the rarest brands on this list to see on the red carpet. It used to be a favorite of Anna Wintour, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Carey Mulligan. It had a hit H&M collaboration. But we don’t often see the brand on the red carpet anymore. I will say there weren’t too many looks from the Spring 2019 RTW collection that I think have what it takes to make a really chic red carpet moment (plenty of items that can be incorporated into your personal wardrobe though,) but this neutral canvas sleeveless midi dress which features a ruched exaggerated waist, a gathered a-line skirt, and blue hand-painted floral detail throughout made Keira Knightley pop into my mind. It could be a really chic press look while she is out promoting The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

Missoni: In the last year we have seen a revitalized celebrity love of Milan based knitwear brand Missoni on the red carpet. The brand has been back to more creative looks than just reinventing its signature multicolored zig zag print over and over again. It’s almost like the brand has gone through a bit of a renaissance again. While incredibly easy to wear knits were the focus of the brands Spring 2019 RTW collection there were a handful of looks that I could definitely see celebrity stylists vying to get their hands on. One of those looks was this slate blue sheer halter gown which features layers of metallic knit layers. This is a very easy glam moment and the moment I saw it I immediately thought it would be something that Zoe Saldana would be drawn to. Moschino: There was a bit of controversy surrounding Jeremy Scott’s Spring 2019 Collection for Moschino. Edda Gimnes, a Norwegian womenswear designer based in London, accused Scott to taking un-credited inspiration from one of her collections that heavily featured a marker print as did this collection, but I have to say that the kitschy (campy) spirit of this print is something that has been in the Moschino archive for many years. He gave several examples of this technique in his defense including a Moschino ad campaign from 1986 and a jacket (similar to the one shown above) shown in the Moschino Spring 1992 collection. I loved the major artist doodle pad meets Pretty Woman vibe that was given in this collection. Jeremy is one of the masters, and I definitely think that the MET Museum picked wrong in its choice of designer co-chairs for next years MET Gala. The show started strong with the black and white trompe-l’œil print crepe suit which features a bow front blazer and a pair of tapered pants and just continued to deliver hit look after hit look. I was taken with that suit because it seemed to be the perfect meshing of the brands signature camp and a sense of wearability and I definitely think that it is something that Evan Rachel Wood would rock on a red carpet. No one does a suit on a red carpet quite like ERW.

No. 21: Every season I always find one look from No. 21 to feature on my lists. I love the brand. From the chic clothing it creates to amazing iconic accessories I just think that the brand exudes wearable glamour. I also feel like the brand is totally underrated when it comes to the red carpet. It has attracted the likes of Constance Wu, Dakota Fanning, Diane Kruger, and Jessica Chastain in the last year or so. I want to see stars snatch up looks from the Spring 2019 RTW collection including this sequin fringe ‘Anne’ dress features a sleeveless knit dress underneath an embellished outer layer with a fitted silhouette which I definitely think Amber Heard should snatch up for press appearances for Aquaman.

Roberto Cavalli: I was less than impressed with Paul Surridge’s debut as the Roberto Cavalli creative director a year ago. He just didn’t seem to have that same sense of sex and flash that is at the core of the Cavalli DNA, but considering some of the couture gowns he’s created for Olivia Wilde, Sara Sampaio, Joan Smalls, and Alessandra Ambrosio in addition to his Resort 2019 collection I think that he could have a place at the house, he just has a steep learning curve to live up to the likes of Mr. Cavalli himself and even former creative director Peter Dundas. I do believe that he did a better job of balancing his tailoring experience with the hyper sexuality of the Cavalli woman this season. I actually want to see several of the looks from this collection on the red carpet and I definitely think that Olivia Wilde would take this terracotta colored long sleeve midi dress which features a sheer long sleeve beaded bodice with a plunging neckline and a ruched a-line midi skirt and make it a really chic red carpet moment. Is it the sexy mini dresses that Surridge also presented in this collection? No, but I still think that it defines the Cavalli woman. Salvatore Ferragamo: Like the new Cavalli creative director I was less than enthused with Paul Andrew’s (the shoe designer whose eponymous line I LOVE) debut at Salvatore Ferragamo back in February, but now he has had a look on both my Best of Resort 2019 and my Best of Milan Fashion Week Spring 2019 lists. The collections have gotten stronger and stronger. There were several looks from his newest collection that I think are destined for casual events like press interviews and then gowns that are perfect for gala’s. I think that for one of the more edgier, “artistic” galas that Olivia Munn would rock this suede macramé dress layered over indocina silk slip dress features a sleeveless body with a straight, fitted silhouette and full length with fringe hem. It is edgy and glamorous and I definitely think with her inherent sex appeal that Olivia radiates on the red carpet would really ensure this look is perfection.

Sportmax: I don’t usually bother looking at Sportmax collection typically. The looks that the brand send down the runway aren’t typically what I feature here on If I Was A Stylist, but something told me to check out this seasons collection. I’m glad I did. The brand had more of a dazzling air to it this season compared to the more day to day sportswear vibe we typically see from the brand. I fell in love with this silver and blue ‘Ciriaco’ dress designed with slits on both sides, sequin detailing throughout, a haltered neckline, and a midi length hem the moment I saw it. Is it anything really innovative or boundary pushing when it comes to style? No, but it is just a fun dazzling party look that I think would be perfect for Tiffany Haddish.

Vionnet: Finishing out this list is the always beautiful Vionnet. The label established in 1912 and revitalized in 2009 has been one of the brands that I feel is very underrated. When it first relaunched it was a celeb favorite, but in recent years that love has waned. I want to see the brand, which has been working at becoming a leader in sustainable luxury, have a resurgence as a celebrity favorite. It isn’t one of the edgy boundary pushing labels that we typically see on the fashion week circuit, but I think that the glamorous draping is perfect for the red carpet. It has been a hot minute but Naomie Harris was a fan of Vionnet and I definitely think that she would be the perfect person to bring this beige and hot pink tulle draped gown which features a silver waistband, plunging v-neckline, and a sheer skirt to life on a red carpet.

So there you have it my 15 favorite looks that came down the Milan Fashion Week runways for Spring 2019 RTW. Which ones do you want to see on the red carpet and who do you want to see bring it to life?

“The Meg” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The Meg looks like a terrible meshing of Snakes on a Plane, Jaws, and Jurassic Park. I personally don’t know if I will ever watch it, but the cast is decent so I thought I would put a set of wishes out for the films premiere. It is expected to be released in theaters on August 10, 2018 with a premiere expected around August 6, 2018. The film screams a casual LA premiere moment. I would expect the stars of this film to show up wearing jeans and leather jackets, but that is the exact opposite of what I’ve put on this wish list.Ruby Rose is this sexy and edgy girl who gives tom-boy ease more than we see give glamour on the red carpet. I could definitely see Ruby showing up on this red carpet wearing some leather cargo pants and a white t-shirt, and it would be cool. But I went for edgy glamour for her to bring to the red carpet of this premiere with this silver liquid sequin Sachin + Babi Resort 2019 strapless gown which features a black mini skirt under a column skirt with a thigh high split. This is definitely a really glamorous moment and I really do think that if anyone could make it come to life on the red carpet that it would be Ruby. A punky hairstyle, silver smokey eyes, nude lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Mechante Reine’ pumps in satin, leather, and PVC with crystal and spike embellishments would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble for Ruby.It has been a long time since we have seen Li Bingbing on the red carpet and even longer that we’ve seen her promote a major mainstream Hollywood project. During that promo tour for Transformers: Age of Extinction giving chic fashion moments from Elie Saab, Stephane Rolland, Erdem, and Giambattista Valli. She loves a couture moment so I wonder what she will bring to this red carpet. I feel like if anyone in the cast would give a major couture moment on this red carpet that it will be Li and I think that doing so in this white Georges Hobeika Fall 2018 Couture cocktail ensemble would be the right option to go with the vibe of this movie. It is just dramatic enough to make a statement but feminine enough not to be too much for a premiere of a movie like this. A simple bun updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of white satin Jimmy Choo ‘Lorina’ sandals, a white Marchesa beaded crystal clasp clutch, and Chopard diamond and emerald drop earrings all would round this ensemble out perfectly ensuring that Li has a triumphant red carpet return. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is almost always on the arm of her fiance Jason Statham when he steps out to promote a film. I really hope that tradition isn’t broken with this premiere and the sultry former Victoria’s Secret model will be on his arm to celebrate his latest project. I would love to see Rosie give short, sexy, and glamorous on this red carpet wearing this black and white The Attico Fall 2018 RTW pearl embroidered mini dress which features bow tied thin straps and a fringe hem. This dress is everything that I feel Rosie would be drawn to and as a plus one that this would be the perfect dress for her to rock for this red carpet especially when paired with a romantic updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a black and green Attico drawstring clutch, and black Christian Louboutin ‘Lace’ pointed toe pumps.

2018 BET Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Tomorrow night is the 2018 BET Awards and I am interested in seeing what all the stars who are nominated, performing, and presenting will bring to the red carpet. This isn’t usually one of the red carpets that I get really excited about. The big names usually skip the red carpet and a lot of the looks that we do see on this red carpet are basic or tacky. I would love to see the stars turn out something different and prove me wrong. The wishes I’ve made for this red carpet would definitely help just do that.Coming on the surprise release of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s first joint album Everything Is Love I would love to see the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist nominee on the red carpet, or at least seen inside, at the 2018 BET Awards. But sadly she will not. She and Jay have a tour stop in Amsterdam tonight and tomorrow so that won’t happen. If she did I would go sexy but short with this black Azzaro Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve cocktail dress which features sheer paneling, sequined embellishments, and a draped skirt. This isn’t something I would pick for Bey to rock if she was walking the red carpet, but for an event like this I feel like she would sneak in the back door and this would be the perfect look if she did just that. Add a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Mechante Reine Spikes’ crystal, spike, and ribbon embellished PVC pumps, a sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, red lips, black nails, an emerald green Judith Leiber Couture malachite patterned faceted clutch, and a selection of Lorraine Schwartz jewels including a pair of black diamond and carved emerald statement drop earrings and three diamond and emerald rings (one, two, three) to really make this moment sexy glamour from head to toe. Issa Rae paid homage to black American designers recently when she hosted the 2018 CFDA Awards. She rocked looks from Pyer Moss, Sergio Hudson, Shanel, and Victor Glemaud while she hosted this years fashion awards. She has definitely been one of my favorites to watch on the red carpet over the last year or so as she has really started making waves in the red carpet fashion world. Her performance in Insecure has earned her a nomination for Best Actress this year and I really want to see Issa bring it to the red carpet tomorrow night. She loves color and print, but I only went for the former for the perfect dress for her to wear tomorrow. This red Roberto Cavalli Resort 2019 one shoulder cocktail dress which features a bias cut and a rise and fall flamenco hem is a simple yet glamorous statement and I really do feel like it would be an absolutely chic moment for Issa to bring to the BET Awards red carpet. I didn’t keep the look totally devoid of print adding a multi-tone red Judith Leiber Couture ‘Singaraja’ crystal encrusted zig zag pattern clutch. Finishing the look with a braided updo, smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Lily of the Valley’ sandals, and Kendra Scott ruby tassel earrings would really ensure that this is such a chic and flirty moment for Issa to bring to life on the red carpet. Janelle Monae is one of the red carpet style stars whom I always get excited to see named either as a nominee or a presenter. She has this box of style that she sticks to, but she never is boring. Black, white, and red. That’s pretty much all we see color wise from Janelle. That could get tedious and tired. I’m always complaining about stars who wear LBDs on the red carpet all the time. What is different about Janelle is she doesn’t stick to basics on the red carpet. She is always playing with pattern, embellishment, volume, and structure. That is what I love about Janelle and her style. She is both performing and nominated tomorrow night so I want to see her step onto that red carpet giving me life. This black velvet Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2018 RTW tuxedo which features a double breasted crystal button detail blazer, an off white ruffled blouse, and button embellished shorts is something I can totally picture that Janelle rocking on the red carpet. It gives an 18th century menswear meets totally 80’s moment and I feel like Janelle is the only person whom I think could really make this look come to life on the red carpet. Vintage inspired finger waves, defined eyes, red lips, a selection of simple white and black diamond band rings, a black velvet Roger Vivier floral crystal buckle embellished envelope clutch, and a pair of black Saint Laurent ‘Iris’ patent leather feather detail sandals are all the touches I would add to really make this a perfect moment for Janelle. Nicki Minaj is also performing tomorrow night at the BET Awards. She has been having some major moments on the red carpet recently with her ombré red Oscar de la Renta sequin gown and matching tulle opera coat at the Met Gala being one of the best. I kept the flame coloring inspiration for the dress for her to wear tomorrow night with this red and orange fringe Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Fall 2018 cocktail dress. This isn’t what one would normally expect to see as a wish for Nicki, but I do think that this would be a really glam statement moment for her to bring to this red carpet. She tends to like skin tight gowns, cocktail dresses, and jumpsuits for her red carpet looks so the shape is definitely out of her typical wheelhouse, but I feel like with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red & gold Christian Louboutin ‘Tornade Blonde’ wraparound plexi heel sandals, and ruby Annoushka ‘Sutra’ tassel earrings that this would be a really great moment for Nicki to rock on the BET Awards red carpet. Every time that Taraji P. Henson has walked the red carpet at the BET Awards, except for once back in 2009, she has given short dresses a go on this red carpet. That is probably going to be the case if she steps out on the red carpet tomorrow night where she is nominated for Best Actress. While I know that is what is likely I went a more glamorous route opting for this uber sexy black Cushnie et Ochs Resort 2019 asymmetrical gown which features a multicolored sequin bandeau beneath a draped v-neckline silhouette, long sleeves, a column skirt, and a thigh high split. I definitely think that if anyone could take this gown and make it a major sexy moment on the red carpet it would be Taraji. She has this inherent sex appeal and I know that she would just ooze sexy glamour wearing this gown with a pair of black patent leather Gianvito Rossi ‘Manhattan’ strappy sandals, sleek center parted hair, smokey eyes, nude lips, and a pair of Harry Winston diamond waterfall earrings. Yara Shahidi suited up in custom Tory Burch for the MTV Movie & Television Awards over the weekend and I am really hoping that the YoungStars Award nominee will be on the BET Awards red carpet tomorrow. I went in a totally different direction than that Tory Burch look for Yara opting for more of a flirty and sexy Attico Fall 2018 RTW sequin mini dress which features features a wrap front silhouette and long sleeves. This dress is disco glam sexy and something we don’t often see Yara bring to the red carpet. Usually her looks are hyper feminine and this would be a really nice change of pace for her to bring to the BET Awards red carpet. I feel like this look would be perfectly styled with her hair styled in pulled together curls on top of her head, defined eyes, watermelon pink lips, a pair of black and white stripe Manolo Blahnik ‘Tresov’ pony hair and leather ankle strap sandals, and a selection of gold Jennifer Fisher jewels including ‘Quad’ hoop earrings, a double band ring with pave white diamonds, a cigar band ring with half pave black diamonds, a skinny flat chain link band with pave white diamonds, & a pin ring with pave white diamonds.

The 2018 BET Awards will take place on Wednesday June 20, 2018.

American Idol Season 16: Katy Perry Judges Wardrobe Red Carpet Wish List

Over the past several weeks Katy Perry has been dazzling the small screen during the taped nationwide auditions for American Idol. She has been serving lewks from Moschino, Versace Tribute, Vivetta, Rasario, Christopher Kane, Andrew Gn, Saint Laurent, and David Koma. I am really excited to see what the live shows will bring from her style wise. Picking looks for her I focused on really visually appealing but that focus most on the bust and neck since she is going to be filmed mostly sitting behind the judges table. So I picked nine really great looks for her to rock for the next couple of weeks while judging American Idol. First up is this powder blue, red, white, and black striped Adam Selman Fall 2018 RTW short sarong dress which features a feathered halter neckline and above the knee hem. I definitely think that this has the visual appeal that I am looking forward from Katy to rock on the stage for one of the American Idol live shows. Katy loves herself some really good feather moments and I think that this would appeal to her edgy, flirty, and chic sides.  Attico is a rising celeb favorite that we have already seen Katy embrace in the past. When I was flipping though the brands Fall 2018 collection I knew that there were definitely plenty of options for her to snatch. I picked my only strapless option here with this pink allover sequined ensemble which features a strapless peplum bodice and a pair of slim fit pants. I would actually keep the lookbook’s head to toe styling with the purple velvet wide buckle belt and the green Water Skake and yellow ostrich feathers mid heel stiletto slingback pumps.

Not many of the looks featured in this list are completely devoid of embellishment, but this blue and white gingham plaid Jonathan Simkhai Resort 2018 long sleeve dress which features a plunging neckline and a contrasting printed built in bustier belt like waist is still a visual moment. Katy knows how to switch things up. Her looks during the initial auditions spoke to that. Each one was memorable but not everything was full of sparkle. This is Jonathan Simkhai dress is definitely something that I could see Katy really rocking especially with some statement blue Oscar de la Renta iridescent impatiens clip on earrings.

Katy’s stylist Jamie Mizrahi took over the creative director role for Juicy Couture and delivered the brands first New York Fashion Week show back in February. Since then the brand has had some big love sent to it by stars like Lorde, Michelle Monaghan, and of course Katy herself. The sequin jumpsuit that Katy ended up wearing for a performance at an Oscar party was the look I originally picked for Katy to rock during the American Idol run, but I know I wanted to see Katy pay tribute to her friend and stylist by wearing a look from the brand. So I think that this dark antique rose Juicy Couture Fall 2018 RTW long sleeve silk dress which features a high neck and a tired skirt would be a really flirty moment for Katy to rock on the American Idol stage.

When it comes to eye catching print and dazzling use of sequins I couldn’t not option a statement making look from the queen of print, Mary Katrantzou. It has been a long time since we have seen Katy take on a Katrantzou design and I definitely think that this rainbow sequined Mary Katrantzou Resort 2018 dress which features a bold printed design, bell sleeve construction, and an iridescent sequin stripe skirt would be another really eye catching judges moment for Katy. The couture take on the tracksuit was seen all over the runways recently and I feel like we will definitely see Katy rock at least one over the course of the show. I feel like that she would be the perfect person to bring this bold colored sequin and bead embroidered Naeem Khan Fall 2018 RTW tracksuit to the stage.

I am always on the hunt for new brands. PRISCAVera is a brand that I opened the pics for on a whim during New York Fashion Week, and I am glad I did. There were some really great potential moments from this collection. When I saw this tone on tone green ensemble which features a high neck ruched satin long sleeve crop top and a pleated vinyl midi skirt Katy immediately came to mind and I definitely think that for something like judging the live shows for American Idol that this look would be a really chic moment.

Would it really be a list of look for Katy to judge American Idol wearing without an animal print look as a nod her her Katy Kat fan base? Katy was on the red carpet at the Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2018 presentation back in January and so she was already on my mind when I flipped through the lookbook. This dusty acid neon leopard sweater ensemble which features a long sleeved top and a pencil midi skirt definitely was a look I think that Katy would rock that rock on that stage with a pair of great orange and gold Alexis Bittar faceted lucite drop earrings.

Finally I think that this black tulle and silver sequined Temperley London Fall 2018 RTW dress which features a wrap front bodice and blouson sleeves would be a really chic, femme fatale moment for the American Idol stage. I played with color for all the rest of Katy’s looks, but I wanted to go for something more classically chic with this look. I think that it would be a really chic change of pace for all the bold color and prints that dominated all the rest of the looks. To me a pair of statement making black and white Mignonne Gavigan lux feather ‘Mini Madeline’ earrings and some really on fleek makeup including a bold red lip and thick lashes all would really ensure that this is such a chic look for Katy.
