2021 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

I am getting very excited for what this years Grammy Awards will be. With all the possibilities from in person presenters and performers (and hopefully some winners) to looks from nominees who aren’t able to attend in person on Instagram I am ready for FASHIONS. The Grammy’s always allows for some major fashion moments we wouldn’t see on any of the film awards red carpets during award season. So I am having a lot of fun wit my wishes for the collection as well. Billie Eilish has always had a very interesting sense of style. Last awards season she rocked Chanel, Gucci, and Burberry track suit style looks for all the red carpets she walked. I don’t want to change her, so when I was looking for something for the singer who is nominated for 4 Grammy’s including Record of the Year and Song of the Year and is also performing at this years show I turned to the Valentino Spring 2021 Couture collection. I was thinking about all the cool boxier cut and layered looks from the collection and knew that I would find a great moment for Billie to wear on this red carpet and I found it in this look which features a gold embossed brocade cocoon cape inspired sleeveless hoodie (A COUTURE HOODIE), a sleeveless light but turtleneck, sand colored pleated front trousers, and matching elbow gloves. This moment is definitely the most Billie look that was show in this collection and I really want to see her rock it for the Grammy’s red carpet. According to her Instagram Billie is still rocking that horrible acid green roots thing. I don’t think that would work with this look though. Instead I would like to see Billie give us more of something like an deep ink blue instead. To finish the look I would style the moment with defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of metallic gold Valentino Couture platform derbies. Cynthia Erivo is nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for her song “Stand Up” from Harriet. She is a consummate fashionista and so I know that had this been a regular year that she would have shown up on the Grammy’s red carpet serving a major look like she was one of the top nominated artists of the night. The fact that she is also be a part of this years post Grammy special “A Salute to the Sound of Change” would have also boded well for her being on the Grammy’s red carpet. I was going to start looking through my archives of couture runways for Cynthia, but then I saw this gold lamé button back of the shoulder peak lapel gown with an oversized drape and puffer coat backpack turned tiered train from the Paris Fashion Week presentation of the Thom Browne Fall 2021 RTW collection. There are very few stars who I think could pull a look like this off, but despite her petite frame I know that Cynthia could serve this moment up and deliver it on a red carpet and the Grammy’s would be perfect. Now for the lookbook the gown was styled with a signature black Thom Browne tuxedo on top under the gown. I would ditch that. Instead styling the gown with her signature bleached buzzed hair, smokey eyes, deep berry red glossy lips, metallic gold leather Aquazzura ‘Gin Plateau 140’ strappy platform sandals, and a statement Harry Winston white and yellow diamond collar necklace would make it a major fashion moment.Harry Style is nominated for Best Solo Pop Performance, Best Pop Album, and Best Music Video at this years Grammy Awards and I am super disappointed that the regular red carpet isn’t going to happen. Harry has been one of my men to watch on the red carpet because he isn’t afraid to blur the gender lines on the red carpet. Now that being said Harry is still performing at this years show and I hope he serves up some cool looks. I have two looks for Harry one for the red carpet and one for a performance. The red carpet look I’ve picked for Harry is a powder blue Gucci Spring 2017 Menswear shawl lapel tailcoat tuxedo which I would style a little differently than it was on the runway I would ditch the tangerine short wide tie and change the shirt. Instead I would style the look with a classic pleated tuxedo shirt, the cummerbund front he runway, a pair of navy velvet Gucci ‘New Jordaan Horsebit’ leather trimmed logo embroidered loafers, and a major white diamond and tanzanite Gucci High Jewelry heart, arrow, and floral brooch instead of a tie to really make this a cool look for Harry. For the performance, of which I don’t have any idea what it will be, I would love to see Harry hit the stage wearing this raspberry red metallic plaid silk brocade Gucci Fall 2020 Menswear 70’s inspired wide lapel suit. It is definitely something I can see Harry being drawn to and I feel like the subtle sparkle makes it a perfect stage look. Again I would switch up the styling ditching hat, shirt, and sweater from the runway in favor of a blush pink floral jacquard Gucci blouse style button down, a pair of black Gucci ‘Zahara’ silver buckle cowboy inspired ankle boots, and a Gucci ‘Hortus Delicarium’ white diamond and morganite leaf wreath and lion head necklace for a bit of sparkle. Jhene Aiko will host the Grammy Premiere ceremony, which is the party of the show that isn’t televised where they hand out all kinds of awards. In addition to that she is nominated for 3 Grammy’s herself this year including Album of the Year, Best Progressive R&B Album, & Best R&B Performance. So I am really hoping to see her deliver a superb moment on the red carpet. I went for sexy glamour inspired by Grace Jones with this black/gold sequin Rami Al Ali Spring 2021 Couture draped hooded wrap style gown with a major split in the front. I love this super glam moment and I feel like it would just ooze sexy and edgy glam, especially with tight cornrow braids, perfectly laid curled edges, defined eyes, nude glossy lips, a pair of gold and black Casadei ‘Blade Jeannie’ strappy ankle strap sandals, and a statement gold basket weave Vhernier ‘Giunco’ cuff bracelet. The last two wishes for today are for Travis Scott & Kylie Jenner. I would have loved to see the on again off again couple back on the Grammy’s red carpet together. But since he is just nominated for one Grammy this year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, I doubt we will see either of them on the red carpet either in person or virtually. If they do I would love to see them rock superb complimentary moments starting with an industrial grey Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2021 utilitarian inspired double breasted suit with a light grey turtleneck (a menswear trend this awards season), and a red silk flower boutonniere for Travis styled with a pair of black calfskin leather Dior Men ‘Dior Explorer Boot II’ oblique embossed combat boots. It’s a cool yet chic moment and I feel like it would be something that Travis would be drawn to. For Kylie I wanted glamour and sex appeal and I found it in this red one shoulder Atelier Versace Spring 2021 Couture column gown which features a structured origami petal inspired sculptural shoulder detail and a thigh high split. I am obsessed with this gown and while I wouldn’t usually waste this major moment on Kylie I know that if anyone could bring up a major IG red carpet moment it would be Kylie. Taking this gown and styling it with a sleek flip style high pony tail, defined eyes, Kylie Cosmetics ‘Lovey Dovey’ matte lips, simple red satin Versace ankle strap platform sandals, and a selection of Jacob & Co. jewels including a pair of white diamond art deco inspired chandelier earrings and a dazzling pigeon blood ruby and white diamond three row bracelet would make sure this statement look would compliment the Dior on Travis perfectly.

The 2021 Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on CBS Sunday March 14, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years red carpet here.

2020 American Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Having watched the People’s Choice Awards this weekend I feel even more excited about the 2020 American Music Awards this weekend. We are hearing some amazing names of performers and presenters and I feel like in addition to the nominees that this could be one of the best nights of fashion since we’ve started social distancing. The looks in today’s wishes are as varried as the artists whom I want to see wearing them. I feel like some of these looks were made for the runway with these women in mind. I think the best case and point in looks being made for the runway inspired by a star I think is this fugly Louis Vuitton Spring 2021 RTW ensemble which features an oversized polo with a leather top and a diagonal striped bottom paired with a neon pop art wide leg shorts which I definitely think was made with Billie Eilish in mind. I hate the look because it isn’t my style at all, but I do think it is something that Billie would rock the look on a red carpet and American Music Awards is perfect. I can see it happening with Billie wearing the whole head to toe runway styling including those moon boot meets sneaker things that I just don’t understand, but that is what Billie’s style is to me. Jennifer Lopez shut down the People’s Choice Awards this weekend wearing a super cute voluminous Christian Siriano red bubble dress. Now while I loved that moment I want to see her bring some glamour to the red carpet at the American Music Awards this weekend where she will be performing “Pa’ Ti + Lonely” which are two songs recorded by JLo and Maluma for the soundtrack of their  upcoming film, Marry Me. I knew immediately what dress I wanted to see from Jennifer. I’ve been loving the idea of her bringing this silver asymmetrical Elie Saab Fall 2020 Couture fitted sequined and beaded tulle gown since the lookbook was released back in September. I feel like Jennifer would make this an uber sexy glam moment. Now I would leave the veil at home instead opting to style this gown with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a silver crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Smooth Rectangle Polaris’ box clutch, silver dome studded PVC strap Christian Louboutin ‘Corinetta 100’ strappy sandals, and a selection of dazzling Harry Winston jewels including a pair of shell inspired white diamond cluster earrings and a vintage white diamond lattice bracelet from 1959. It would make for a major head to toe dazzling moment. Katy Perry will be giving the first ever live performance of her latest single “Only Love” off her new album Smile on Sunday night. I am always excited to see what Katy will bring to the red carpet and this is no different. I always love seeing what Katy will wear. I’ve picked two looks for her in these wishes with one for the red carpet and one for the actual performance. Starting with the red carpet I would love to see Katy give ethereal femininity wearing a raspberry pink to white ombre tulle Georges Hobeika Spring 2020 Couture asymmetrical gown which features a sheer side panel and dramatic caped sleeves. It is more of a feminine and soft look than I feel like we’ve seen Katy wear on the red carpet in a little while and I think it would be a great post pregnancy moment for Katy to bring to life on this red carpet. Style it with a romantic curly updo, defined eyes, raspberry pink lips, a pair of white satin Aquazzura ‘Bow Tie’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and dazzling David Morris white diamond and pink conch pearl chandelier earrings to really make this look feminine glamour defined. Now I won’t lie to you I found the performance look for Katy first and thought about it being her red carpet look. I LOVE this red and pink rose printed Richard Quinn Spring 2020 RTW strapless mermaid gown which features a sweetheart neckline and a ribbon asymmetrically draped from the shoulders to the hem with words of love written in crystal beading. I saw this dress while I was actually listening to “Only Love” and immediately fell in love with the idea of Katy wearing it to perform the number. It is the glamorous side of kitschy and that is why I love it for Katy. I feel like Katy would need a boost in the height department so I picked a pair of black sequined Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Bebe’ major platform d’Orsay pumps to add that height (mostly because they would be hidden by the mermaid hem.) A sleek side parted beehive updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, and a pair of simpler white diamond and ruby David Morris chandelier earrings would add the perfect finishing touches. Both moments would give Katy two major fashion moments this Sunday. Megan Thee Stallion has FIVE American Music Award nominations this year and she will be on hand performing at this years show. We don’t know what it is she will be performing yet, I’m hearing it’s a debut single, but I am really excited to see what she will bring to life on this red carpet. It will be her first red carpet appearance since she sat front row at the Coach fashion show back in February. I would love to see her wear the Zuhair Murad Couture gown I featured in my Billboard Music Award wish list, or the Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu gown I picked for her to wear in my VMA’s wishes, or even the Aliette cocktail dress I put in my wishes for the BET Awards, but I had to make sure I put something new into the universe. I’ve been thinking about this fuchsia silk taffeta Christopher John Rogers ruched strapless gown which features a tulip shaped ankle length skirt, a thigh high split, and a MAJOR train for a really long time. I’ve wanted to use it for almost every red carpet, but I just haven’t felt the right vibe yet. Until now. I think that Megan would definitely rock this very 80’s glam moment on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Styling this look with glamorous old Hollywood half up/half down retro hairstyle, thick winged eyes, deep fuchsia lips, a pair of fuchsia glitter Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Polina’ cross-strap slingback sandals, and a selection of Gismondi 1754 jewels including a pair of pink ruby and white diamond chandelier earrings and a dazzling one of a kind ‘Goddess’ white diamond teardrop collar necklace. Rounding out today’s wishes is a soft glamour moment for Taylor Swift whom is nominated for 4 AMA’s including Artist of the Year. It is also rumored that she will be performing, but as of yet this hasn’t been confirmed. With her “Folklore” era having come completely during the COVID lockdown I’m still on the pastel lightness she was drawn to during the Lover” era. Enter this soft lilac Valentino Spring 2021 RTW ruffled silk chiffon gown which features a blouson silhouette, ruffled trim, round neck, balloon sleeves, nude bodysuit, and a small train. It is a very fashion-y choice for Taylor whom has never worn Valentino before, but I feel like this gown would be a super chic moment for her to wear at the American Music Awards especially if it was styled with a romantic updo, soft silver smokey eyes, bold hot pink lips, lilac suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ ankle strap sandals, and a pair of white diamond Anabela Chan x Diamond Foundry ‘Vine’ floral and butterfly drop earrings.

The 2020 American Music Awards will take place on Sunday November 22, 2020. Check out all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2020 E! People’s Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

Happy Friday everyone! The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards continue to inch closer and closer. Today I am adding 5 more wishes to my round up. Details of what this years event will look like aren’t getting a lot of buzz. I am really interested in seeing what everyone has in store for fashion moments. So let’s get into today’s wishes shall we?I want Billie Eilish to bring some fashion to the red carpet. I want to see her get away from Gucci, Chanel, and Burberry and expand her designer dossier. When I was looking at the Marques’Almeida Spring 2021 RTW collection I found myself saying that there were some really good moments I wanted to see Billie wear, and my Fashion Forward Friends podcast co-host Kelly agreed. So when I was thinking of a cool look for Billie to wear on this red carpet I turned to this army green tonal patchwork oversized double breasted suit. It fits her oversized aesthetic, but does so in a way we haven’t seen from Billie in a while. Now while I think it would be cool for her to wear this look sans top like it was presented on the runway that isn’t really that on brand for her. So I would like to see a custom army green sequined sweatshirt made to compliment this look. Her signature lime green rooted black hair styled into easy center parted waves, big full lashes, nude lips, a matching mask, and major Dr. Martens ‘Jadon’ black leather thick sole platform lace-up combat boots would definitely make this a really cool look for Billie to bring to life at the People’s Choice Awards. Doja Cat has been making the the awards show rounds this fall. I honestly had no idea who she was, but the girl is serving looks. At the VMA’s she rocked Versace, at the Billboard Awards she wore custom Georges Hobeika Couture, and most recently for the EMA’s she wore brand new Givenchy by Matthew Williams. She is definitely a fashion girl and I cannot wait to see what more she has in store. She has two People’s Choice Award nominations and I really want to see her on this red carpet. I turned back to Versace. Her first look was two seasons old, but since then shes flexed some major fashion chops so I went to the Versace Spring 2021 RTW collection and this sea inspired ensemble which features a crystal embellished bralet and a wavy structured ruffle mini skirt. This is one of my favorite looks from all of the Spring 2021 RTW collections and I can definitely imagine Doja making it a really major moment. To make it head to toe perfection I would have Doja style this look with a sleek high pony with light blue ombre details, thick defined eyes, hot pink lips, a pair of silver Christian Louboutin ‘Corinetta 100’ round silver studded PVC strappy sandals, and Yessayan white diamond floral drop earrings. Joey King is one of my favorite young red carpet fashion girls. She loves to serve a look. So I am hoping that her Choice Comedy Movie Star of 2020 award nomination for The Kissing Booth 2 will take her to this years People’s Choice Awards. If she does I would love to see her rocking this gold, fuchsia, and black metallic chevron chiffon Ralph & Russo Spring 2021 RTW mini dress which features a slim fit, mutton sleeves, open-back, tie-accented waist, and a faux wrap style skirt. I thought of this look almost immediately. I did do a little more looking, but ultimately I decided that this was the perfect look for Joey to rock on the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards. It is fun, bold, and feminine which are all the boxes that Joey likes to check when picking her red carpet looks. Styling this dress with a sleek center parted hairstyle, bronze defined eyes, light pink lips, a pair of gold snakeskin Tom Ford ‘Padlock’ pointed toe ankle strap pumps, and a selection of Amrapali jewels including ruby and diamond floral drop earrings and two diamond and ruby surrealist art nouveau surrealist lip rings would make this look super chic. Sofia Carson knows how to bring the drama to the red carpet. The actress, singer, dancer loves volume and drama. She is known for wearing Giambattista Valli on the red carpet and when I saw that she was going to be one of the presenters at the 2020 People’s Choice Awards I immediately thought of this sherbet peach  strapless asymmetric tulle ruffled cocktail dress which features black ribbon detail on the neckline and a boned corseted bodice from the Giambattista Valli Spring 2021 RTW collection. It is such a Sofia dress. It delivers some major Valli drama, while still being the right glam for this red carpet. Styling this look with a soft side parted updo, thick defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, black glitter Stuart Weitzman ‘The Amelina 95’ ankle strap sandals, and a pair of white and yellow diamond Gismondi 1754 ‘Solstizio’ drop earrings would definitely make this a major fashion moment for the People’s Choice red carpet. Tiffany Haddish is also going to be presenting at the People’s Choice Awards tomorrow night. I go back and forth on whether or not I really like Tiffany’s style. During quarantine she shaved her head and I am really interested in seeing what her style will be. I thought that this lemon yellow and white one shoulder Christian Siriano Spring 2021 RTW pencil dress would be super chic. It is simple and classic in its silhouette and construction, but I feel that is perfect for Tiffany. I think that should this dress be perfectly tailored and styled with smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of white Fenty ‘Date Night’ strappy pointed toe pumps, and simple 18k gold set Mateo NY ‘Small Diamond Axis Hoop’ earrings that it would be one of Tiffany’s best red carpet moments to date.

The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards will take place on Sunday November 15, 2020.

10 Best Collections of Spring 2021 – Fendi

Earlier this year it was announced that Kim Jones would be taking over Fendi. Since Karl Lagerfeld died Silvia Venturini Fendi has been helming the label that bears her family name. I have to say that each season has been better than the past and this collection has to be hands down my favorite not just from her tenure as sole creative director, but my favorite collection of the Spring 2021 season. I don’t think she, nor the house, needs Kim Jones to be successful. Silvia has been able to do at Fendi what Virginie Viard has not been able to do at Chanel. She is able to take inspiration from the late Lagerfeld and turn it into her own. She isn’t doing Fendi by Lagerfeld, but is using his memory as a jumping point. In a pre show interview with VOGUE Runway she said “This reminded me of Karl. He had a love for bed linen, he had a big collection.” That is exactly what she delivered. It was the ultimate lockdown luxe without compromising the houses tailoring. If we go back into a global pandemic lockdown again I would definitely want to wear the clothes that she sent down the runway in this collection. I was especially happy with the superb duvet inspired coats that did evoke the idea that the model had grabbed their comforter and walked down the runway, but that comforter was the most luxe thing ever created. There was a bit of a lingerie and sleepwear inspiration in many of the pieces that came down the runway. But it didn’t have an air of trash. It was all about strength and confidence with nods to sensuality. Even in the menswear looks we saw looks that evoked that same spirit. When it comes to seeing this collection on a red carpet there are definitely looks and pieces I would love to see stylists option, but ultimately I feel like this collection is much more geared toward a consumer than to the celebrity. My first wish is an excellent example of the more consumer side of this collection. This black suit which features a double breasted military inspired bodice blazer with structured peplum hips, and wide a-line sleeves and an a-line skirt with a split is definitely bankable. I feel like women in board rooms all over the world could make this look work. I definitely imagined Angelina Jolie pulling this suit off the runway and wearing it to one of the UN Goodwill Ambassador events that she attends regularly. Her signature soft waves, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black leather Christian Louboutin ‘Hot Chick’ scalloped detail pointed toe stiletto pumps, and a vintage white diamond bow and tassel brooch from Beladora would definitely put this look together perfectly for Angie.

To completely counter balance Angie I also see Billie Eilish rocking this soft grey floral chiffon pattern ensemble which features a car coat, button down shirt, and high waisted shorts. It’s a softer look for Billie, but I feel like it is totally within her wheelhouse. It would put her back up on the fashionista track. She can pull good labels I just want to see her not always wear a variation on the same thing. This ensemble is cool and I can definitely picture it being a major fashion moment for Billie with a pair of silver Fenty ‘Side Eye’ crystal vine detail sunglasses and white Christian Louboutin ‘Red Runner Donna Flat’ sneakers. There were several looks from this collection that screamed more causal than big red carpet looks. One was this sandy yellow and mud brown printed a-line dress which feature handkerchief cap sleeves, cutout sides & back, defined banded waist, and a below the knee length. It is a very chic fashion moment and something I could see Sarah Paulson rocking it for a more casual appearance. I would make it a little more glamorous styling it with a side parted blunt bob, defined eyes, light pink lips, a gold crystal embellished Judith Leiber smooth rectangle clutch, a pair of metallic gold leather Aquazzura ‘Gin 140’ platform chunky heel strappy sandals, and quirky yet glamorous Irene Neuwirth ‘Clementine Pavé’ drop earrings which feature hand-carved orange carnelian halves adorn with 18k white gold and diamond pavé bar with three 18k yellow gold leaves to really make this a super chic moment for Sarah.

I can also see this collection being a hit with many of the royals around the world. I think that the crisp tailoring in this collection is definitely something that the Royals would be drawn to. The chic sophistication of Fendi is on full display in this bold red military inspired pencil dress which features a high jewel neckline and a-line 3/4 length sleeves. It would be a gorgeous look on the absolutely gorgeous Queen Rania of Jordan. She has a very chic and sharp sense of style and I definitely can see her wearing this dress with glamorous waves, defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of red crocodile embossed leather Jimmy Choo ‘Love 100’ pointed toe pumps. Silvia also showed her menswear on the runway this season after forgoing her slot on the runway during the menswear shows in July. There were definitely some super chic tailored moments. One that I loved was the black pajama inspired look which features a polo collar, cutout lace like details, large pockets, and straight leg trousers. It is a super chic look especially giving the world we live in. This look could go from the couch to date night to the red carpet. Machine Gun Kelly immediately came to mind when I was thinking who would be the perfect person to wear this look for a red carpet especially styled with a pair of black and white Christian Louboutin ‘Aurelien Strass Flat’ crystal embellished sneakers.

Finishing out the wishes from this collection is easily one of my favorite looks from the collection. If I was a woman I would definitely put this black and white ensemble which features a sheer floral embellished tank top layered over a white tank top and styled with a white tea length feathered skirt and a duvet inspired coat in my closet. Each piece has seemingly endless possibilities. Now I REALLY want to see this look hit the red carpet. It was one of my favorite looks this season. Now for the red carpet I would hand this look over to Yara Shahidi, minus the duvet coat. Yara has rocked some Fendi looks in the past and I would totally entrust her to make this a major fashON moment. Style it with big bouncy curly, smokey eyes, deep antique rose pink lips, a pair of white Amina Muaddi ‘Zula’ PVC trimmed strappy sculpted heel sandals, and a pop of color via Gismondi 1754 ‘Orecchini’ one of a kind emerald and white diamond drop earrings to really make this a MAJOR fashion moment. I couldn’t talk about this collection without quickly touching on the bags. Fendi is a bag house and this season Silvia shut down the bags. They were so amazing. I loved the yellow half mood bag, the lace veiled Baguette’s, and the crocheted evening bags. These bags are statements. They aren’t your standard ‘Peekaboo’ or ‘Baguette’ styles that Fendi sells internationally by the boat load. These are bags for the real rich ladies. These are bags that will be worth something one day.

10 Best Collections of Spring 2021 – Loewe

A sculptural extremization of fashion, magnified in all its theatricality, the Loewe Spring 2021 RTW collection is described by creative director Jonathan Anderson as a story of dramatic silhouettes exploring the craft of pattern making. This collection made me happy. It was a high volume, high octane, glamorous collection that pushed the boundaries of what fashion is. We saw a lot this season where event the most avant garde designers out there toned things down opting for more leisure based looks inspired by time spent in COVID lockdown. Instead Anderson delivered on fantasy; making me yearn for days where we will dress up again. “We have to start loving fashion again,” Anderson said to VOGUE Runway. “We don’t know what tomorrow’s going to bring. So let’s enjoy it!” I couldn’t agree more. We need to stop going back to leisure in seasonal colorways, but bring creativity to the forefront. We can always count of Jonathan Anderson to do that. Each season he gives us something different. Inspiration comes from all over but never seem to be recreations. Spiraling flaps. Balloon sleeves, balloon skirts. Crinolines. Neckerchief hems. Hoops. Giant knots. Roundness that gets bigger and bigger. A sense of elongation. Immaculate tailoring counterbalances feats of showmanship. Johnathan Anderson knows his customer isn’t interested in the basic. She wants to make a statement and she will definitely do that in this collection. Event the “basic” black skirts aren’t basic, but the elevated staples that the chicest women in the world will wear to tea or lunch styled down and then dress up for cocktail occasions. Coming up with the wishes to see this collection brought to life out of the lookbook (which was sent to editors, stylists, and influencers in big boxes to be played with on a wall like wallpaper) and onto the red carpet I really had to go to a slew of women who I feel consistently take risks. Women who aren’t afraid to be the most talked about women in the room. Let’s start my wishes with easily my favorite look from this collection which is the black birdcage woven leather cape with arm slots paired with a white silk faille dramatic bubble hem cocktail dress. I love this look for giving us medieval meets 60’s meets space age. It is not a look for the faint of heart. It needs someone who exudes presence and confidence no matter where she goes. I was having a hard time instinctively coming up with who I really wanted to see wear this look; so I went down the rabbit hole to see who had worn the label on the red carpet. The first person I saw was Tessa Thompson and my mind was pretty much sold. But then I thought of Janelle Monae. The singer and actress is known for not just her love of black and white, but also for very avant garde sartorial choices. Now while Janelle is petite and on paper this look should swallow her whole I do believe it would be an MAJOR fashion moment. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a black satin Jimmy Choo ‘Callie’ beaded fringe embroidered chain strap sack evening bag, a pair of black suede and mesh Jimmy Choo ‘Liu 100’ strappy stiletto sandals, and dazzling Yeprem white diamond swirl wreath earrings would definitely put the perfect finishing touches to this look.

Now talking about avant garde fashion one of the most avant garde looks in this collection was the gold ruched silk bubble dress with a black tulle overlay is one of the most avant garde looks of the season. It gives me MAJOR high fashion modernism meets classical Renaissance ruff vibes. It is definitely not a look that many will be able to bring to life, but as I was looking at Loewe lovers I could definitely imagine Chloë Sevigny bringing this look to life. She has the weird sense of style that I feel like would make this look super cool especially if styled with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black satin Roger Vivier ‘Broche Vivier’ crystal bucked detailed pointed toe loafer inspired pumps, and a selection of sparkle via Pomellato jewels including ‘Sabbia’ circle drop earrings in 18K rose gold with 60 black treated diamonds and a ‘Sabbia’ bangle bracelet in rhodium-plated and burnished rose god with brown and white diamonds. Not all of the looks in the collection were unapologetically dramatic glamour. We also saw Jonathan Anderson give some major moments that balance the more masculine and feminine. I do love that he gives us a fantastic balance of masculinity and femininity. This was displayed perfect with an all black look which features a polo inspired blouse that is given the Loewe twist adding major voluminous sleeves paired with wide leg pants. I feel like it could be a really good red carpet look for Billie Eilish. It has her oversized fit that she is known for, but I feel like it would be a cool fashion look for her thanks to those amazing sleeves. A pair of black and white Sergio Rossi ‘Sergio Extreme’ Swarovski crystal embellished ribbon detailed sneakers, her signature black and acid green hair, and acid green Prada ‘Linea Rossa’ active style sunglasses would make this a super cool moment for Billie.

Another cool menswear moment was the navy silk suit with voluminous cuffs on the blazer and couture like parachute pants. I immediately thought of Loewe devotee Tilda Swinton. She is the master of blurring the line between masculinity and femininity, but the day after I edited the pictures for this post the amazing Tracee Ellis Ross wore this look for Jimmy Kimmel and it was phenomenal. It blew away my expectations so I wasn’t upset that it was worn before I could put a wish put into the universe. Jonathan Anderson even knows how to make a little black dress anything but basic. Two LBDs stood out to me specifically. The first was a draped voluminous eyelet dress with a ruffled v-neckline and a wide a-line skit. It is such a flirty yet moody moment and I would love to see Rooney Mara rock it on a red carpet. I honestly think that it was the models pose (which is Rooney’s signature) is what made me think of Rooney, but I know that it is definitely something she would be drawn to. Giving this look a boost of glamour with a sleek top knot, defined eyes, bold red lips, black leather Alexander McQueen ankle strap sandals, and a pair of delicate Cartier High Jewelry white diamond pear shaped filigree inspired drop earrings would make it a beautiful red carpet moment.

The other is the tiered scalloped skirt a line cocktail dress. I could see this dress being a hit on the sales floor. I feel like there is a wide range of women who could really walk this look. It could speak to the uptown and downtown girls. I would love to see Nina Dobrev bring this dress to life on the red carpet sometime styled with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, bold red lips, a black satin Sophia Webster ‘Clara Butterfly’ clasp clutch, black Gianvito Rossi ‘Freesia d’Orsay’ cutout ankle strap pointed toe pumps, and a selection of Nikos Koulis ‘Oui’ collections jewels including a pair of white gold earrings with oval blue sapphires, pear shape, round and trillion white diamonds and black enamel and a white gold ring with a marquise cut white diamond and black enamel. Overall I am thrilled with this collection. And well while I’m at it why not add one more with for Erykah Badu to wear that pink and white voluminous ensemble above right with a pair of coral, orange, and white Nike ‘Daybreak’ low top trainers and a two tone pink Borsalino ‘Folar’ wide brimmed hat.

I don’t know what to expect, but there are some major names in the list of nominees and performers so I hope to see a lot of these stars over the course of the telecast tomorrow night. Check out some of the absolutely major moments I want to see these stars rock tomorrow night for the virtual “red carpet” and let me know which are your favorites and which ones you most want to see brought to life.

2020 MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

We are just a couple days away from the 2020 VMA’s. I am really excited to see what this years virtual edition is going to bring. I have no real expectations. We’ve seen some events go really great while others have left me wanting more. I want this event to go over delivering a major production that helps us escape from the reality of the pandemic, at least for a little bit. Billie Eilish earned herself six nominations at this years VMA’s. After sweeping the Grammy’s earlier this year it would seem like she is the heir apparent to do the same for the VMA’s. When it comes to style we know that Billie favors her oversized street inspired looks. I noticed that over the course of the Fall 2020 collection presentations earlier this year that brands that I never would have turned to for looks for Billie were showing a look that could have been optioned by the teen pop star. I told a friend that writing that I was picking a look from Erdem for Billie for this wish sounds far fetched. She responded “HAHAHAHHA it’s a good dream.” Then I sent her this silver silk floral jacquard pajama inspired oversized co-ord from the Erdem Fall 2020 RTW collection and she responded with “I’d never imagine this to be HER, but it’s exactly HER.” I think that is the mark of a good designer. Erdem expanded his glam to a new market with this look and I do feel like it would be a cool moment for Billie especially styled with a pair of silver and white Roger Vivier ‘Viv Run’ crystal embellished buckle chunky sneakers. Had there been a red carpet at the VMAs it would have been the first MAJOR red carpet Demi Lovato would have walked. I would have liked to see what she would have cooked up for the red carpet. I didn’t go to the runways though for the perfect glamour moment for Demi to rock with this hot pink Versace cross draped stretch jersey halter neck gown with gold safety pin details and center split from the virtual racks of LuisaViaRoma.com. While Demi could pull a look from many major runways this dress is a super cool moment that I feel she would be able to make this gown into a MAJOR fashion moment. Styling this gown with a sleek side parted updo, thick defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of fuchsia glitter Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Polina’ strappy sandals, and Nikos Koulis ‘Feelings’ collection yellow gold chain hoop earrings with white diamonds would definitely ensured this is one of Demi’s best red carpet moments ever. I know that Halsey can serve a major fashion moment on the red carpet, but often times I feel like I’m questioning her taste. I want her to continue to give her fashionable chameleon vibes, but always making sure that she hits the high fashion marks. So when I was thinking about what I would have wanted to see her wear on the red carpet at the VMA’s if there was one I immediately went to this dramatic midnight blue, grey, lavender, and gold watercolor agate print Georges Hobeika Fall 2020 Couture gown which features dramatic caped sleeves. It’s a super cool moment and not many could sell it to me. I feel like the edgy that Halsey brings to the red carpet would definitely make sure that this look screams cool especially if styled with a short black finger wave updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Bel’ silver crystal embellished peep toe slingback sandals, and Anita Ko white diamond ‘Rain Drop’ earrings set in white goldMegan Thee Stallion knows how to serve glamour on the red carpet so I am disappointed that we won’t get to see her give us a major fashion moment on the VMA’s red carpet. Had there been one I would have LOVED to see Megan give us femme fatale glamour wearing this sapphire blue sequined Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu Fall 2020 Couture strapless sculptural mermaid gown which features an asymmetric neckline, half peplum, and a thigh high split. It would ooze glamour and with old Hollywood lives, thick winged eyes, bold red lips, sapphire blue velvet Tom Ford jeweled heel sandals, and a selection of major Butani jewels including a pair of twisted wreath white diamond earrings, a white diamond leaf wave cut bracelet, and a selection of white diamond and sapphire rings. The Weeknd is nominated and will be performing at this weekends VMA’s. It’s been a while since he’s been out on the red carpet and I am excited to see what he will rock. The last red carpet he walked he gave us 70’s vibes and I kinda stuck to that for my wish for him to wear for the VMA’s. I would love to see The Weeknd rock this black damier check print single breasted suit from the Louis Vuitton Resort 2021 Menswear collection with a crisp white button down shirt and a thin black skinny tie. Finishing the moment with a pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Voltaire’ silver metal toe capped derbies and graphite Louis Vuitton ‘Mascot Marble’ square aviator sunglasses would definitely make this a super chic menswear moment.

The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on Sunday August 30, 2020. You can see all my VMA’s wishes here.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 21

Someone needs to stop me. I now have 39 sets of wishes for this years Met Gala red carpet. I don’t think I can even think of any more celebrity possibility I think could walk this years red carpet. I have models, musicians, actresses, sports stars, and many more. I am really excited for when this years red carpet will finally happen after the whole COVID-19 crisis has started to subside. We are looking at so many rescheduled events that by the time this red carpet happens I may not have time to make all these wishes. So with this being one of the few events where I have control over who gets featured it made sense for me to use this time and space to escape from reality and put out as many wishes for this years Met Gala exhibit as possible. Each of the looks in today’s wishes fit perfect with this years theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” but on brand for each star and for each label. By this time next year I think Billie Eilish will be well on her way to EGOT status. She already has 5 Grammy awards, and with the fact she is the the songwriter (with her brother Finneas) and vocalist for the next Bond theme “No Time To Die” I think she may add an Golden Globe and an Oscar to her list of awards. After some major Gucci and Chanel moments on the red carpets of awards season and knowing that Billie was the cover star of the March issue of Vogue I will imagine that she will be on the Met Gala red carpet this year. She just might be this years performer. While I am not personally a fan of Billie’s always oversized streetwear inspired style, but I have to say that since she burst onto the scene I have seen looks that seem geared towards her being sent down the runways of lots of the major fashion houses. I thought about doing something different for Billie, bit ultimately I decided to pick this navy silk Balenciaga Fall 2020 RTW co-ord which is like a tracksuit meets pajamas. This look is obviously Billie. There is not modification needed. Does it work for the theme? Yes in Billie’s way. Now I really want to see Billie go for it with the styling. I would really like to see her swap out her lime green roots for aqua blue (you will see why as the styling continues) styled in sleek center parted locks. Add defined eyes, rosy pink cheeks, soft pink lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Diamond’ crystal embellished sneakers, and A LOT of Stephen Webster jewels including simple ‘Magnipheasant’ white gold pave white diamond feather earstuds with black diamonds, a ‘Deco Haze Armadillo’ long finger ring, a ‘Vertigo’ white gold, black enamel, and white diamond obtuse geometric ring, a white diamond ‘Magnipheasant’ plumage three finger ring, and a ‘Magnipheasant’ blue tanzanite and white diamond cocktail ring to make sure there is a lot of sparkle in this look for Billie. With this years theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” I have mostly focused on that timeless glamour vibe for most. Sticking to the heyday of classic glamour as the inspiration for most of my wishes here. But 150 years of fashion gives a lot of variety in inspiration for designers, stylist, and stars to draw on when it comes to the looks we will see on this years red carpet. The more I meditate on the Gucci Fall 2020 RTW collection the more I realize that Alessandro Michele took this years Met Gala theme and ran with it for the inspiration for his collection. Now the moment I saw this robe à la française meets saloon girl meets Victorian vampiress I said Samantha McMillan needs to get her hands on it. I honestly believe that she is the only stylist out there that could really make this look work. This look definitely skews a little more into the costume-y vibe, so the Met Gala red carpet is really the only place I feel like this gown could work. I went back and forth between a couple of Samantha’s clients to pick the perfect one to wear this gown ultimately I thought that Evan Rachel Wood would be PERFECT. Now it might be because the look made me think of Westworld, but I really do think that Evan would be the perfect person to bring this look to life on this red carpet. A loose romantic updo, smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of silver metallic leather Gucci crystal chandelier embellished strappy sandals, and a beautiful antique belle epoque Victorian diamond staggered floral inspired collar necklace would definitely make this a real statement moment.Am I the only one who is SHOCKED that Keira Knightley has never been to the Met Gala before? The British actress and face of Chanel is definitely a fashion girl, especially back in the 2000’s. So how has she never attended is beyond me. While the expected choice in terms of designer for Keira to wear for the Met Gala is obviously Chanel I decided to go left picking a look from one of Keira’s other go-to designers. Keira has worn looks from Erdem many times over the years and I feel like her aesthetic fits perfectly with the label. So instead of the classic Chanel look I decided to put Keira in a modified version of this silver metallic lace Erdem Fall 2020 RTW tea length gown which features ruffled cap sleeves, jewel neckline, drop waist, and a ruffled skirt. The dress as presented on the runway is definitely something Keira would be drawn to, but to make the look Met Gala red carpet ready I would love to see Erdem modify the look to have a defined waist, a ruffled skirt to hit the floor, and a long dramatic train. This look would give off Victorian meets 30’s vibes and to me that is exactly what Keira delivers on the red carpet so well. Now I wouldn’t let this look be completely devoid of Chanel adding a pair of black silk crepe and grosgrain Chanel star embellished round toe pumps, a pair of Chanel Haute Jewelry ‘Secrets Dorients Perles’ white diamond and pearl dream catcher drop earrings and a ‘Roubachka’ cuff bracelet in white gold, cultured pearls and diamonds to make sure her ambassadorial duties are covered. A beauty look that includes a chic romantic curly updo, smokey eyes, pirate red Chanel ‘Rouge Allure’ luminous intense lips, contoured cheeks, and radiant rouge nior Chanel ‘Le Vernis’ longwear nail color on her nails all would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Taking the theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” and running with it could see stars, designers, and stylists seeking inspiration in a lot of different ways. Now I would imagine that most will take inspiration from the era’s in the 150 years of fashion that will be featured in the exhibition. Some might be inspired by clocks. For this look for Saoirse Ronan I decided that taking inspiration from astrology is perfect. Mary Katrantzou has yet to put out a Fall 2020 RTW collection so I picked a couple of looks from her MAJOR Spring 2020 RTW collection I think need red carpet moments. So I would love to see Saoirse wearing this midnight blue a-line halter neck gown appropriately named ‘Astronomy’ made in glitter flocked tulle and embroidered with silver Swarovski crystals in an interlocking astrological star chart pattern. Before technology stars were used to tell time, navigate, and mark location. So what better way to interpret the theme in a bit of an unexpected manner. Now on the runway the neck of the gown as paired with a Bulgari High Jewelry white diamond and sapphire collar necklace and I would reach out to Bulgari to make sure we had the same necklace for Saoirse finishing the look with a sleek braided knot bun, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of midnight blue satin Roger Vivier ‘Mini Stars’ plateau strappy chunky heel sandals. Over the years Zhang Ziyi has sporadically attended several Met Galas. She has rocked looks from Carolina Herrera, Jason Wu, Armani Prive, and Marchesa. Honestly I would love to see Zhang reach back into her personal archive and wear either the Armani Prive gown she wore in 2008 or the Marchesa gown she wore in 2007. That would be a great interpretation of the theme talking about how how fashion can endure the times. Now while that would be amazing I decided for this set of wishes to pick a hot off the runway look for Zhang to bring to life on the red carpet at this years Met Gala putting her in this black and white Givenchy Fall 2020 RTW gown which features a billowing white jersey bodice with abstract black fringe beading, long sleeves with tinsel fringe detail, and an a-line tulle skirt completely covered in the tinsel fringe. Now the gown doesn’t have a train, but like most of the looks I have featured I would love to see Claire Waight Keller add a train to this look to make it super dramatic for this red carpet. Now the gown is perfectly dramatic on it’s own so I would keep the styling simple with either old Hollywood waves or a sleek bun updo, defined eyes, bold red lips with a slight shine, a pair of simple black leather strappy Givenchy ankle strap stiletto sandals, and a bit more sparkle via white diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection paisley earclips.

PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2020 RTW RED CARPET WISH LIST PART 3

After today I am navigating uncharted waters. This set of wishes for looks that came down the runways of Paris Fashion Week a few weeks ago really finishes out all my immediate wishes for the Fall 2020 RTW runway season. Overall I have been really impressed and honestly sad at the thought that due to the COVID-19 crisis that many of these looks will end up lost to the archives of fashion history. Even if this list is the only place we will ever get to enjoy the idea of these looks on a red carpet then so be it. At least in this time of crisis we are able to maintain a sense of fantasy when reality is do bleak.

PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2020 RTW RED CARPET WISH LIST PART 1

Paris Fashion Week might be long over, but as red carpet events are being cancelled due to Corona Virus I thought well best not to let the wishes that danced around my head as I watched the livestreams of these shows and flipped through the lookbooks on Vogue Runway. As Robert Fripp once said “In strange and uncertain times such as those we are living in, sometimes a reasonable person might despair. But hope is unreasonable and love is greater even than this. May we trust the inexpressible benevolence of the creative impulse.” We must continue to embrace our creative and optimistic sides as we take in the news daily. So with that being said I am going to try and post a little more regularly. I am still trying to work out what content will look like moving forward, but it will all be focused on bringing a little bit of fantasy and escapism to my readers. As we are self-isolating and social distancing now is a great time to engage with posts and start conversations.
