2021 SAG Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

While the ceremony will be shorter this year, the Screen Actors Guild will still hand out its annual awards. The 2021 SAG Awards will air on Sunday, April 4, in a one-hour, pre-taped event, the show’s producers announced in early March. Hostless, and absent the normal banquet and red carpet, the shows producers have revealed that they still have a lot planned to honor the best actresses and actors of the year. I am very interested in seeing what the show will be and even more importantly what the fashion will be. With the abbreviated and pre-recorded show will the stars still turn out gowns and glamour? We will have to wait till Sunday night to find out. In the meantime let’s make a couple more wishes for what could be for this years show shall we? Despite all her nominations this season Cate Blanchett has skipped out on every single virtual awards show and I HATE it. I always love seeing Cate on the red carpet and I am missing her turning out looks. I’ve picked major looks from Alberta Ferretti, archive Armani Prive, and Lanvin and I am continuing that with the look I’ve picked as the must see moment for Cate to wear for the SAG Awards, even if I am doubtful that she will zoom into the ceremony. Cate has long been a fan of Givenchy and has worn looks from all of the brands creative directors. So I would love to see her try to sell me a look from Matthew Williams helm at the brand. I have been imagining Cate wearing this one shoulder white column gown which features a macrame detailed bodice and a tassel detail from the Givenchy Fall 2021 RTW collection. This collection is far from one I really love, but I feel like this gown modified to be lined for modesty (which I am sure will happen for retail) would be a super edgy glam moment for Cate. We usually love Cate more in her classic glam moments, but when she serves up edge I am in love with her looks. I obviously would ditch the coat and style this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of white satin Aquazzura ‘Bow Tie’ crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, and statement aquamarine and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 drop earrings would make this a major fashion moment for Cate. Elle Fanning is nominated with her fellow The Great cast members for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. After her super glam custom Gucci gown with Fred Leighton jewels at the Golden Globe Awards I am dying to see Elle give us a super glam moment for the SAG Awards. Now as she isn’t nominated individually or presenting I’m not sure that we will, but I definitely believe that if this were a normal year that Elle would have served up a MAJOR glam moment. I just fell in love with this white strapless beaded tea length cocktail dress from the Georges Hobeika Spring 2021 Couture collection which features sheer detail, 3D floral embroidery, and POCKETS. I feel like Elle with her classically glamorous sensibility would easily be able to sell this look to me. Cocktail dresses for the SAG Awards aren’t really a norm for me, but I think that with a sleek retro inspired updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of white Sergio Rossi ‘Sr1’ crystal studded square toe ankle strap sandals, and a dazzling white diamond Harry Winston teardrop and scroll detailed collar necklace would definitely elevate this look to the level of glamour needed for a major awards show red carpet. Gillian Anderson took home both a Golden Globe Award and a Critics Choice Award for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in The Crown. That same performance has earned her a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series at the 2021 SAG Awards. She is up against her co-star Emma Corrin and I would say that it will most likely be Emma that takes home the Actor. Now in terms of fashion Gillian has exclusively worn Dior Couture this awards season. While I don’t hate her looks I also would love to see her branch out. I know Gillian has some fashion chops and I would love to see her give cozy glamour wearing this petrol blue knit Loewe Spring 2021 RTW long sleeve gown which features multicolored sequined strewn about, a thigh high split, and a knotted sash belt. While a knit gown is not something we would expect to see for any major award shows and I totally understand, but in lockdown I love the idea. Why not take advantage of it now? To make this look SAG Awards perfect for Gillian I would style it with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, a pair of petrol blue crystal embellished mesh Gianvito Rossi ‘Rania 105’ pointed toe pumps, and dazzling white diamond London collection by De Beers ‘Thames Path’ teardrop cluster earrings. There was a huge snub that the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards didn’t nominate Michaela Coel for her performance in I May Destroy You. Well the SAG Awards rectified that and I am hoping that she will bring us a major look. I went through a lot of options when I was thinking about what I wanted to see Michaela wearing for the SAG Awards. Ultimately I decided to go with a customized version of this rose gold sequined Off White Resort 2021 asymmetrical slip style dress which features thin spaghetti straps and the brands name embroidered on the front. I would customize this into a floor length gown with a bit of a train to really make this a glamorous moment for the first time SAG Award nominee to wear for her first ceremony. I would style this custom gown with a short afro, defined eyes, ruby red lips, a pair of rose gold Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ three strap crystal heel metallic leather sandals, and simple yet dazzling 18k pink gold set Hueb ‘Luminus’ white diamond cluster earrings to really make it a MAJOR fashion moment for Michaela to bring to life on the “red carpet.” Phoebe Dynevor might have been the Diamond of Bridgerton and I tell you that had awards season happened like normal that she would have been the Diamond this season as well. She rocked an edgy glam Louis Vuitton cocktail dress from the Critics Choice Awards and for the SAG Awards where she is nominated with her cast for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series I would have love to see her bring something feminine and romantic to the red carpet. I have been thinking about Phoebe wearing this blush pink Chanel Spring 2021 Couture a-line tea length gown which features thin straps, defined waist, tiered skirt, and red and white dot embroidery all over. It is gorgeous and I know that Phoebe would bring the statuesque elegance to the red carpet. I would style it with a sleek updo, soft dewy makeup with light pink lips, red leather Christian Louboutin ‘Loubi Queen 100’ ankle strap sandals, and a selection of David Webb jewels including a pair of white diamond and ruby feather drop earrings and a matching ruby and white diamond cocktail ring to really make it scream glamour.

The 2021 SAG Awards special will broadcast on Sunday April 4, 2021. You can see all my wishes for this years show here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

I am loving awards season being back, even if the stars are zooming into the shows and there aren’t really red carpets. The glamour of it all might not be exactly the same, but it’s better than nothing. I am ready for more events and more looks. I am so over the blah moments and ready for more glamour, more effort, and more DRAMA. The five wishes in today’s Critics Choice Awards series are all glamorous, perfectly fitting for this red carpet, even if it were to happen in person, and I want to see them come to life. I can’t even recall if Annie Murphy was at the Globes on Sunday. I don’t remember seeing her and she didn’t post a look on Instagram. I want to see what she has to offer. She has rocked looks from must have labels like Dior and Valentino so I know she has the pull to get really cool moments. As I was flipping through my archives of images to find the perfect look for Annie I thought that this black cady Versace Pre-Fall 2021 fitted tea length gown which features a sweetheart neckline, bra like straps, and charm embellishments would be a really cool moment for her to bring to life for this red carpet. I feel like it definitely speaks to her sexy and glamorous side especially if styled with a sleek ponytail, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of major black satin Versace sequin embellished platform sandals, and some sparkle via champagne diamond Sutra three pendant drop earrings set in 18k rose gold.Cate Blanchett has skipped out on all of the virtual award shows so far including the Emmy’s and the Golden Globe’s so I am not holding out hope that she will be delivering a moment for the Critics Choice Awards. That isn’t going to stop me from dreaming. I fell in love with this sleek long sleeve gold Alberta Ferretti Fall 2021 RTW column gown which features intricate crystal, sequin, and tinsel fringe embellishments the moment I saw it and when I was thinking about what look I would love to see Cate wearing on this red carpet I knew that this would be a MAJOR moment. I can’t recall Cate ever doing disco glam on the red carpet, but I know that she would definitely be able to shut it down bringing this moment to life. I would let the gown be the focus of the look styling it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, nude pink lips, a pair of gold metallic leather, suede, and mesh Aquazzura ‘Savoy 105’ pointed toe pumps, and simple Pomellato ‘Nudo’ drop earrings in 18k rose and white gold with mother of pearl, white topaz, & white diamonds to really make this a major fashion moment for Cate. Glenn Close wore a simple maroon Lafayette 148 silk suit for the Globes. It wasn’t a boundary pushing moment, but it was chic. She also seemed to debut a horrid blunt bob with bangs that I just don’t love. I just don’t know how this hairstyle will make for any sort of good red carpet moments. That being said I would still like to see her give the effort and try to give us a look to love. I would love to see Glenn wearing this black Carolina Herrera silk chiffon gown which features long sheer sleeves, pleated bodice embellished with hand-embroidered 3D flowers, jewel neckline, and a dramatic train. It is simple, sophisticated, age appropriate, and elegant moment that I think is perfectly in line with Glenn’s style. I don’t know how to re-imagine her hair to make it work, but I would style this look with defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Tasha 100’ glittered mesh pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling white diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection cluster earrings with teardrop pendants I think would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. H.E.R. rocked a cool, but very casual, Valentino Couture look for the Globes. While it was cool I want to see an even more glamorous side to H.E.R.’s sense of style. So as I was looking for the perfect look for her to bring to life on the red carpet for the Critics Choice Awards and I saw this super cool black 16Arlington Fall 2021 RTW ruffled suit and thought it would be the perfect moment. This suit is a very flirty take on the classic pantsuit and I love the feminine rock and roll vibe that it gives off which is exactly what I think of when I think of H.E.R.’s style. I think a sleek hairstyle, smokey eyes behind red and green striped clear acrylic Gucci oversized square sunglasses, bold red lips, a pair of black Tom Ford ‘Disco’ platform curved sculptural heel ankle strap sandals, and a statement Jacob & Co. High Jewelry emerald and white diamond choker necklace would definitely make this a MAJOR fashion moment for H.E.R..Finishing out today is the gorgeous Regina King who was easily one of my Best Dressed at the Golden Globe Awards where she wore one of the best custom Louis Vuitton gowns ever made. I am very excited to see what she will wear all awards season long. She is a major fashion girl and loves to show up and show out. I went for a statement suit moment for her to wear for the Critics Choice red carpet opting for this black Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 tuxedo with a bold fuschia asymmetrical bow detail on the blazer. It is a statement look that I would style with a pulled back hairstyle, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, black Christian Louboutin ‘Victorilla’ strappy pointed toe pumps, and a selection of Vanleles jewels including a pair of ruby halo set white diamond ‘The Nile’ stud earrings, a statement ‘Out of Africa’ white diamond and Mozambican responsibly sourced cabochon rubelite shield cocktail ring, and a simple ‘The Nile’ pave set white diamond band ring to really make sure this look comes together perfectly.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

We got really great news yesterday. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the body that presents the Golden Globe Awards, put out a request that presenters are being asked to appear live and in person at either the Beverly Hilton in LA or the Rainbow Room in New York. Now while the presenters will appear live it is reported that nominees will still appear remotely. I wonder how this will work. Usually nominees are among the list of presenters at the event and I am really interested in seeing what will come from this years red carpet. In today’s wishes we have nominees across film and television this year, for those nominated for their work in front and behind the cameras, and a legend who will be honored. Each of these wishes are definitely phenomenal moments I would absolutely adore seeing each look brought to life. Amanda Seyfried earned her first Golden Globe Award nomination this year for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture thanks to her performance in Mank. I have always loved seeing Amanda on the red carpet and I would love to see her bring the glamour and drama to the red carpet be it in person or remote. I adore this rose pink Elie Saab Fall 2020 Couture one shoulder draped gown which features a dramatic rosette shoulder detail, cape sash, belted waist, and a thigh high split. It is a very feminine approach to dramatic glamour and I know it would be something that Amanda would definitely be drawn to. With a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, deep raspberry pink lips, a pair of nude pink Aquazzura ‘Celeste 105’ crystal-knot grosgrain sandals, and dazzling Cartier High Jewelry white diamond, pink sapphire, opal, and amethyst drop earrings I know that this look would be perfection from head to toe giving Amanda an absolutely glamorous moment. Her role as polarizing conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly in Mrs. America has earned Cate Blanchett her 11th Golden Globe nomination. In the last year Cate has really put forward in her initiative to wear and rewear items in her closet. We saw this on display most recently when Cate rewore looks from Armani, Esteban Cortezar, and Alexander McQueen during her times as the jury president at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. I wonder if that will be the case should we see her take part in this years Golden Globe Awards telecast. If she does I would absolutely adore seeing Cate pull out the black velvet Armani Prive gown with white ostrich feather cape that she first wore to the 2018 Venice Film Festival premiere of A Star Is Born. I have always felt that gown is the epitome of classic glamour and Cate would definitely be able to sell it to me again. Now If she chose to wear something we haven’t seen her wear I still went into the archives to pick a “vintage” gown for her with this black crepe and velvet long sleeve column gown from the Armani Prive Fall 2008 Couture collection which features a plunging neckline, crystal embellishment at the hip, and a faux wrap style. This gown isn’t statement making, but is another fine example of incredible classic glamour. Now both gowns I would style the same way; with a sleek retro glam updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black beaded lace Aquazzura ‘Bow Tie 105’ pointed toe pumps, and dazzling Tiffany & Co. ‘Schlumberger® Star and Moon’ earrings in platinum with round sapphires of over 10 total carats and round brilliant diamonds. Since 1962 Jane Fonda has been nominated for 15 Golden Globe Awards and has won seven. This year the icon will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award. This award is given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Associations Board of Governors for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment”. We can definitely say that Jane has done that from her role in Barbarella to Grace and Frankie. She has been a force on the screen for almost sixty years. I am very interested in what Jane may wear for this occasion. She made a big deal last year at the Oscars re-wearing a ruby red crystal embellished Elie Saab Couture gown first worn in Cannes with a coat that she touted as the last piece of clothing she would ever buy. So I would imagine that Jane will most likely bring something out of her closet to accept this years award. When I was looking at what Jane has worn on red carpets in recent years I thought it would be perfect for her to accept this years DeMille award wearing this electric blue customized Atelier Versace long sleeve fit to flare dress with an asymmetrical neckline, nude illusion cutout details, and a sweeping train (seen above left) that she first wore to the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. It was one of my favorite looks that year I can definitely see myself loving it yet again should she wear it this year, especially switching up the styling with her grey hair in a sleek side parted style, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of electric blue Alexandre Vauthier ‘ANEPUMPBLUE’ metallic leather crystal trimmed and PVC pointed toe d’Orsay pumps, and a bit of sparkle via Chopard ‘Precious’ collection white diamond and sapphire chandelier earrings. Now I also thought that picking something vintage borrowed from a designers archive would be allowed under Jane’s activist stance on clothing. If it is I would absolutely love to see Jane dig in the Valentino archives and snatch out this red long sleeve column gown which features a high neck and an ostrich feather trimmed hem from the Valentino Fall 2001 RTW collection. There haven’t been many who have been able to get into the archives and wear Valentino by Mr. Valentino himself, but I would definitely love to see Jane bring this gown out of the archive and onto the red carpet. Now for the Valentino dress I would love to see it styled with Jane’s signature hairstyle, defined eyes, glossy pink lips, a pair of red crystal embellished satin Rene Caovilla pointed toe pumps, and simple Chopard ‘Precious’ collection white diamond scalloped cluster earrings. Which ever route she chooses I am very excited to see what she will wear. One Night in Miami star Leslie Odom Jr. is one of my men to watch this awards season. While promoting the film from home we have seen him wearing classic menswear looks with a twist from labels like Etro and Moschino. So I am very much intrigued to see what the actor who earned his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture thanks to his portrayal of Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami will wear for December. So I was looking for a cool look and fell in love with the idea of Leslie wearing this navy blue textured two button Dzojchen Spring 2021 tuxedo. I love the simple twist on the classic cut and feel like it would definitely be a great choice for him. Now I go back and forth if I want to see Leslie wear the matching trousers with this look for the Globes. I am leaning towards no and going a little more classic with custom solid navy tuxedo trousers with the satin stripe down the side finishing the look with a crisp white shirt, navy satin bow tie, a pair of black patent leather Tom Ford ‘Gianni’ lace-up oxfords, and a midnight blue Montblanc ‘1858 Geosphere’ watch. Regina King is once again nominated for a Golden Globe this year after winning two years ago. This year she is nominated for Best Director for her feature film directorial debut One Night In Miami. We’ve already had a major red carpet at the Venice Film Festival stolen from us. She is very much in contention to take home this trophy so I would definitely want to see Regina give us a major glamour moment. I found that in this orchid purple Antonio Grimaldi Spring 2021 Couture on shoulder gown which features a single blouson sleeve, defined waist, column git, and a sweeping train. I adore when Regina gives us bold color moments and I can just imagine this gown being a major moment on her. This gown would hug all of Regina’s curves. With a sleek updo, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of rich fuschia purple Aquazzura ‘Tequila 105’ strappy crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a selection of jewels from Vanleles including round, marquise, & pear shaped white diamond ‘Bridal Cuff’ hoop wreath earrings and a white diamond ‘Legends of Africa Iconic’ diamond ring we would definitely have a major glamour moment on our hands.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years event here.

2021 AFI Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Out of all the programs that were released last year I am most annoyed that COVID stole a promo tour and an Emmy’s night from us for the cast of Mrs. America. This cast was built for red carpet promotions and the series was phenomenal. I know we are going to see a lot of them at events like the Golden Globe Awards, the SAG Awards, and the Critics Choice Awards, but the awards season journey would have started at the AFI Awards where it is being honored as one of the Top 10 TV Programs of 2021. So today’s wishes for what could have been at the 2021 AFI Awards had there been an in person event vs a virtual benediction I have the women from Mrs. America. Shall we jump into them? I think the moments I am missing the most from the cancelled promo tour and awards season red carpets from is Cate Blanchett. Regular readers should know that Cate will always be a queen to me (even if I was really disappointed in her run during the Venice Film Festival last year) and I would have expected major things from her. For the AFI Awards I would have loved to see Queen Cate give us a very chic moment wearing this gold Lanvin Spring 2021 RTW silk pant set which features a chinoiserie inspired asymmetrical button down blouse with a chic metallic thread Koi fish embroidered paired with a v-banded wide leg pants. I have been loving this look and there aren’t many red carpets that it would be appropriate for, but for a brunch event I definitely think that it would be perfect especially styled with soft waves, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, nude Aquazzura ‘Dalia 85’ mesh paneled pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling Kentshire antique white diamond grapevine drop earrings. Elizabeth Banks is another style favorite, there are many amongst this cast, and yes I am sad that we aren’t going to see her at the AFI Awards either. When thinking about the casual glam look I wanted to see Elizabeth wear I immediately thought of this periwinkle Elie Saab Spring 2021 RTW ensemble which features a matching floral jacquard double breasted coat and high waisted pleated above the knee skirt paired with a solid silk chiffon v-neck sleeveless top. It is a very chic moment and I definitely feel like it is something that Elizabeth would wear. Now I would have Liz wear the coat over her shoulders as it was styled in the lookbook finishing the moment with soft wave bob, defined eyes, poppy pink lips, a pair of navy suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Gianvito 105’ pointed toe pumps, and some major Sylva & Cie blue quartz & tourmaline asymmetrical drop earrings.Niecy Nash has some bold style and I am definitely intrigued to see what she brings to the red carpet. I would have loved seeing Niecy showcase this bold orange Christian Siriano puff sleeve dress which features an asymmetrical cutout on the shoulder and a fitted silhouette. I feel like this simple yet chic moment and it would definitely be a true MOMENT on Niecy. A hairstyle that is side parted and pulled back with teased curls (like she wore for the NAACP Image Awards last year), soft smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a gold metallic leather Gucci logo detailed envelope clutch, a pair of metallic gold Le Silla ‘Eva’ pointed toe stilettos, and a bit of statement sparkle via Mattia Cielo ‘Rugiada Diamanti’ diamond studded concentric circle hoop earrings would have pulled this look together beautifully. Rose Byrne is just another major fashion girl in the cast of Mrs. America. I love the risks that she takes and that no matter what she wears she always puts forth the the most. So thinking about what I wanted to see her wearing for the AFI Awards I took inspiration in her character from Mrs. America and thought about Gloria Steinem and her iconic 70’s style. I saw this Victoria Beckham Spring 2021 RTW ensemble which features a butter yellow virgin wool two button blazer, a ruffle trimmed cardigan layered over a ruffle trimmed ribbed turtleneck knit skirt tucked into camel virgin wool split-hem straight leg trousers. It is that perfect mix of 70’s bohemian and tailoring and I can imagine it being a phenomenal moment on Rose. I would keep the styling very 70’s as well finishing the look with a sleek bob, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, the necklace from the lookbook, and a pair of gold croc embossed leather Paris Texas clunky platform wedge sandals to really make this a killer moment for Rose. As I continue writing down this list I am getting more and more FOMO for this years AFI Awards. There are so many amazing fashion girls in the programs being honored and Sarah Paulson is another amazing fashion girl who I am sure would have brought a major look to the red carpet. She was another who I knew immediately what look I wanted to pick for her. I thought of this Prada Spring 2021 RTW ensemble which features a grey mohair v-neck sweater worn with the sleeves pushed up layered over a caution cone orange openwork viscose turtleneck top paired with a grey wool kick pleat a-line midi skirt with a safety buckle belted waist. It is cool and feminine all at the same time and I know that Sarah has the carriage to really make this look come to life. Now I was really turned on by the baby pink pumps the look was styled with on the runway. In fact I was originally thinking about keeping them, but the more I think about it the more I would like to see those same nylon gabardine slingback pointed toe kitten heel pumps in black instead for this look. Now I would take the pink from the pumps and still include it in the look but via a baby pink Prada ‘Sidonie’ leather clutch instead. Finishing the look with a sleek bob, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, and a pair of vintage Rhonda Faber Green orange faceted opal and white diamond teardrop drop earrings from Beladora would definitely make this such a major fashion moment for Sarah to bring to the red carpet.  Finishing out today is the beautiful Uzo Aduba who is the only member of the cast who was nominated at the Emmy’s last year to actually win and so I would bet that she would be font and center here had there been a red carpet for the AFI Awards this year. For this more casual event I went with a dress off the rack from a designer we haven’t seen Uzo wearing before. I wanted a great Gucci printed dress and I fell in love with this black and pink floral jersey button up dress with a matching ribbon belted waist and knew it would be a perfect match. It would hug her curves beautifully and showcase some killer star style. A high pony tail of braids, defined eyes, glossy deep red lips, a black leather Gucci ‘GG Marmont’ clutch, a pair of black Manolo Blahnik ‘BB’ pointed toe pumps, and simple Boucheron ‘Serpent Boheme’ 18k rose gold and rhodalite stud earrings would definitely make this a major fashion moment for Uzo.

The 2021 AFI Awards will be a virtual event with a benediction on February 26, 2021. You can see Part 1 of this series here.

2020 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Well, I was SWAMPED with my actual job lately and I’ve been neglecting If I Was A Stylist as a result. That means that even though I had 14 posts planned for the 2020 Emmy Awards, which take place tonight, all I was able to do is this all in gallery for the nominees, presenters, and cast members of nominated projects. I am really interested to see how the Emmy’s will work from home with production kits sent to over 130 different locations. How will the fashion fare? We saw the fashion factor happen for the VMA’s and then Venice Film Festival actually happened in person and I was THRILLED. So in my wishes for this years event I’ve pulled looks hot off the runway this past week during NYFW, things shown seasons ago, as well as several looks I would love to see stars pull out of their archives and give another go. So check out my 54 wishes below and let me know which ones you would most like to see come true.

2020 Venice Film Festival: Closing Ceremony Red Carpet Wish List

Today I close out my wishes for the 2020 Venice Film Festival with a couple of looks for the Closing Ceremony. Sometimes the closing ceremony is lacking in stars and sometimes it isn’t. I don’t remember Naomi Watts or Stacy Martin walking the red carpet at the end of their jury duty, but I want to make sure this festival ends as strong as I’ve wished for it to start. For my final wish for 2020 jury president Cate Blanchett I went back to Armani Prive. I had to bookend her time in Venice with looks from the festival sponsor. I’ve been LOVING the idea of her wearing this electric blue arabesque lace one shoulder a-line gown from the Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture as I’ve been going through all my wishes. It was one of the first looks I picked for Cate. I feel like this bold color moment would be an absolutely gorgeous look for her to close out the festival in. It’s been a really long time since we’ve seen Cate wear this a shade of blue this bold. I can just imagine it being stand out against her soft alabaster skin. A sleek retro updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of electric blue satin Amina Muaddi ‘Begum’ pointed toe crystal broach detailed curved heel pumps, and white diamond Chopard ‘Precious’ collection chandelier earrings would make this look just scream glamour. As I have said several times I am really interested in seeing what French actress Ludivine Sagnier will wear on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival as the checks in for jury duty this year. She has a very effortlessly French approach to style. Dior is such a quintessential French brand that I couldn’t go through all my Venice wishes for Ludivine without including one look from the brand for her. I have loved this silver pleated metallic silk Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture gown which features an asymmetrical bodice since it was presented. I feel like it is the perfect balance of high glam and bohemian elegance, which is exactly what I feel Ludivine’s style is all about. I would love to see her bring this look to life with a soft romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, a grey crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of silver crystal embellished Rene Caovilla ‘Ellabrita’ ankle strap satin sandals, and a selection of Veschetti white diamond jewels including ‘Cortina’ three row waterfall earrings and a ‘Kate’ five row cuff bracelet. Anna Foglietta will be back on the Venice Film Festival red carpet at the Closing Ceremony as the event’s hostess. I once again turned to festival sponsor Giorgio Armani for the perfect gown for Anna to wear on the lido red carpet. I adore this nude strapless Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture diamond cutout sequined column gown overlaid with sheer tulle. It screams glamour and I feel like Anna has the right vibe about her to really make this look come to life. I would love to see her style this gown with a curly updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a nude Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ sun burst crystal diamante embellished satin rectangle box clutch, a pair of ballet pink Alevi Milano ‘Penelope’ crystal embellished strappy sandals, and a statement Buccellati ‘Bartolomeo’ white and yellow gold set white diamond bib necklace to make sure that Anna delivers head to toe glamour on the Venice Film Festival closing ceremony red carpet. In my final wishes for the 2020 Venice Film Festival I would love to see Spanish supermodel Eugenia Silva bring two gorgeous Armani Prive gowns to life on the red carpet. Over the course of my wishes for this years Venice Film Festival I’ve picked 32 looks from Armani so far for stars promoting films, jury members, and guests and these last two bring that total to 34. I am definitely expecting that, as in the last two years, Armani will dominate the red carpet. Eugenia can deliver some major fashion moments on the red carpet so I picked this blue organza detailed column gown which features intricate red beading from the Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture collection. I feel like Eugenia knows how to deliver statuesque moments on the red carpet and she would make sure this look is a truly exciting fashion moment. Style it with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, deep red lips, a navy Jeffrey Levinson ‘Elina Plus’ rounded clutch, a pair of midnight blue Gianvito Rossi ‘Rania’ crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, and a selection of major Van Cleef & Arpels jewels including simple white diamond and sapphire drop earrings, a statement art deco inspired white diamond and sapphire cuff bracelet, and a large princess cut sapphire and white diamond cocktail ring and I know that Eugenia would slink down the red carpet in full glam. The second look is one I’ve been wanting to see on the red carpet since it was first presented. I LOVE this sunset orange Armani Prive Spring 2017 Couture one shoulder column gown. It needs a red carpet moment and I think that Eugenia would be able to make it the major fashion moment I know it can be especially if styled with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a gold metallic leather Roger Vivier crystal buckle detail clutch, a pair of strappy gold metallic leather Roger Vivier ankle strap sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 fire opal, citrine, white diamond, and ruby paisley drop earrings.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Venice Film Festival: Tilda Swinton Tribute Gala Red Carpet Wish List

Before I finish out my wishes for the 2020 Venice Film Festival with the closing ceremony wishes tomorrow I want to talk about what could be at the gala where the festival will honor Tilda Swinton with an honorary Golden Lion Award. In a statement about being given this honor Swinton said: “This great festival has been dear to my heart for three decades: to be honoured by her in this way is extremely humbling. To come to Venice, this year of all years, to celebrate immortal cinema and her defiant survival in the face of all the challenges that evolution might throw at her – as at us all – will be my sincere joy.” I always love seeing Tilda Swinton on the red carpet so I am hoping that she will have two different red carpets for her film premiere and the award presentation. For the photocall ahead of the award I would love to see Tilda wearing this winter white Fendi Fall 2020 RTW strong structured short sleeve midi dress which features a pleated a-line skirt. It is a super strong look and fully within Tilda’s usual wheelhouse. I can picture it being a major look with her flame orange red hair, defined eyes, bold orange lips, and a pair of white Fendi ‘FFreedom’ square toe mens loafer inspired sculptural slingback pumps. Now for the premiere I went with something that is much more statement making. This bold pink and red Valentino Spring 2020 Couture gown which features a dramatically ruffled bodice, cummerbund waist, column skirt, and a dramatic train. It is definitely a risk. It isn’t exactly what we are used to seeing from Tilda, much more super girly than androgynous, but I can imagine Tilda making it a major moment. I almost want to see it made custom for her in all Valentino red instead of pink. It would be much more in line with her signature sense of style. The custom red gown styled with a sleek side parted hairstyle, defined eyes, bold red lips, and a pair of red satin Manolo Blahnik ‘LALA’ crystal detailed pointed toe strappy pumps would be the dramatically glamorous moment I know that Tilda loves to bring to life on the red carpet. Today’s wish for Cate Blanchett to wear in Venice is easily my favorite. The moment I saw this black stretchy black crepe Stephane Rolland Fall 2020 Couture sheath gown and features gigantic black gazar ruffled petals with a “caviar and diamonds” embroidery, a cutout back, and a completely covered front I knew I wanted it to be a major moment for Cate in Venice. She’s never given us a Stephane Rolland Couture moment on the red carpet, but I can just imagine her on the Lido red carpet giving us all the glamorous drama wearing this gown. Because the gown is such a statement I would love to see Cate style it with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, black Aquazzura pointed toe silver crystal embellished half d’Orsay pumps, and a selection of Chopard jewels including a pair of Chopard Loves Rihanna pear shaped white diamond earcuffs and a Red Carpet Collection white diamond and emerald cocktail ring. Ludivine Sagnier is known for being a little unpredictable on if she will wear a gown on the red carpet. So I decided to go short for this wish picking this super sexy black Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2020 ruched fitted cocktail dress which features thin straps, bow detail on the bodice, and a pleated flared hem. I feel like this is definitely something I feel like Ludivine would be drawn to and a super chic moment for her to wear on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. I would finish this look with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, bold red lips, a black Roger Vivier ‘Marlene’ crystal fringe embellished box clutch, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ leather and PVC ankle strap sandals, and Bulgari ‘Barocko’ white diamond and emerald bow detailed drop earrings to really make sure that Ludivine oozes sensual glamour from head to toe. Picking looks for Diane Kruger to represent Armani on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival is definitely a pipe dream. Diane has been quarantined in the United States with her partner Norman Reedus and their young baby. So she won’t be allowed into Italy due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. If she were I would LOVE to see her represent Armani in Venice. I have always loved Diane and her sense of style and the two looks from the Armani Prive archives I would love to see her bring to life on the red carpet are major moments. Let’s start with the white beaded silk one shoulder gown from the Armani Prive Spring 2007 Couture collection which features a beaded arm cuff, cutout stomach, and wrap style column skirt. I definitely love this sexy take on classic glamour. I feel like everything about this look screams Diane’s take on glamour especially if styled with a sleek retro updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a white crystal embellished Alexander McQueen spider crystal clasp box clutch, a pair of white crystal embellished satin Gianvito Rossi ‘Glam’ ankle strap sandals, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 white diamond and emerald floral meets art deco inspired drop earrings. The second look I’ve picked for her is this lavender and black Armani Prive Spring 2016 Couture gown which features a sheer ruffle covered bodice, thin straps, and a sequin detailed tiered skirt. I have always been a huge fan of this gown and would love to see someone bring it to life on the red carpet. I would love to see Diane be that person. I can imagine her really infusing her glam into this look and giving it the major red carpet moment it deserves. A half up half down sleek retro hairstyle, smokey eyes, light pink glossy lips, a black Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ satin ball clasp crystal trimmed box clutch, simple black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Minny’ ankle strap sandals, and a pair of dazzling white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 floral heart drop earrings would definitely make sure this look is glamour defined for Diane.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “The World to Come” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

We are getting close to the end of my wishes for the 2020 Venice Film Festival, but I still have several major fashion moments that I want to see brought to life on the red carpet. Today I have wishes for the red carpet at the premiere of The World to Come. The movie is about how somewhere along the mid-19th century American East Coast frontier, two neighboring couples battle hardship and isolation, witnessed by a splendid yet testing landscape, challenging them both physically and psychologically. I believe that this film will have a glamorous red carpet and the looks I want to see the cast, jury, and an Armani girl bring to life on the red carpet are MAJOR. So let’s get into them. The World To Come is the second film that Vanessa Kirby will be screening at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. I really want her to deliver MAJOR fashion moments on the red carpet. I was highly unimpressed with the nude and burgundy beaded Valentino look she wore on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards earlier this year. It wasn’t a bad look, but it just wasn’t event appropriate. For her time in Venice I’ve already picked looks from Balmain & Valentino which speaks to two different sides of Vanessa’s style. Today’s wishes speaks to two more. For the photocall I picked a more feminine take on bohemian glamour with this red and green floral print Brock Collection Resort 2021 ‘Saura’ smocked taffeta midi dress which features a straight strapless neckline and a pleated a-line skirt. I adore this dress and I definitely think it speaks to Vanessa and her sense of style. It is the right balance of casual and cocktail for a daytime photocall without it being too much. A romantic updo, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of metallic gold Francesco Russo braided leather strappy sandals would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. The look I would love to see Vanessa wearing on the red carpet at the films premiere I went to the sexier side of Vanessa’s style with this blush pink Atelier Versace Fall 2020 Couture thin strap asymmetrically ruffled gown which features a v-neckline, a thigh high split, and a short train. I would actually like to see Donatella customize this gown to have a longer train since the Lido red carpet is a major stage for fashion. This gown with a sleek side parted beehive hairstyle, defined eyes, pink lips, nude Aquazzura ‘So Vera’ crystal embellished strappy sandals, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. jewels including a pair of chain link drop earrings in platinum with morganites and white diamonds and a statement white diamond and morganite lace cuff bracelet would definitely be a major moment for Vanessa to wear in Venice. As I was creating my dream Venice Film Festival wardrobe for Cate Blanchett Daniel Lee released the lookbook for this Resort 2021 collection for Bottega Veneta. So far only Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Rihanna have made me actually like his creations for the Italian luxury house. I saw this silver pailette sequined halter cocktail dress in the lookbook I immediately thought of it as a killer custom gown for Cate. I always feel like Cate would definitely be able to sell this dress as a gown to me. She can wear just about anything. It would switch things up from the more classic and feminine looks I’ve picked for Cate to wear in Venice thus far. This silver sequin gown is a sharp modern moment. A sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a silver metal Bottega Veneta ‘Knot’ clutch, silver studded Aquazzura ‘Dream’ PVC peep toe sandals, and de Grisogono ‘Ventaglio’ white diamond fan drop earrings would make sure this look screams modern glamour from head to toe. I don’t know why by I felt like I had to include a super chic red carpet lady pants moment for jury member Ludivine Sagnier. Aside from a shorts suit at one Venice Film Festival Ludivine is usually wearing a cocktail dress or gown on the red carpet. So I don’t know what it was about this years festival that made me want to include a major pants moment for her. Anyway I think this black and white Ronald Van Der Kemp Fall 2020 Couture tuxedo ensemble which features a poet blouse and slim fit cigarette pants with a dramatic train was on my brain and I feel like it would be a super cool moment for her to rock on the red carpet in Venice. A wavy bob, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black pleated chiffon Christian Louboutin ‘Goya Ruban’ pointed toe satin ribbon ankle tie pumps, and simple white diamond and ruby Bulgari ‘Divas Dream’ chandelier earrings would definitely make this a major fashion moment for Ludivine. It was the thought of Anne Hathaway wearing Armani Prive for events like the Golden Globe Awards and Oscars a decade ago that made me want to include her in my wishes for the 2020 Venice Film Festival. I’ve been ready for her to WOW me again. She did great earlier this year at the Critics Choice Awards where she wore custom Atelier Versace. If she wore to jet to Venice, which to be honest is highly unlikely, I’ve picked two glamorous looks for her to bring to life on the Lido red carpet. The first is revisiting the same collection her blue 2009 Golden Globe gown came from with this blush nude one shoulder a-line gown from the Armani Prive Fall 2006 Couture collection which features a crystal embellished bodice and a flowing skirt. I definitely feel like this gown screams glamour and would make me fall in love with Anne on the red carpet again especially styled with a romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a light gold Tyler Ellis ‘Perry Large’ mirrored stingray leather clutch, a pair of gold and silver crystal embellished Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ ankle strap sandals, and Butani diamonds including a pair of fringe wreath earrings and a four row cocktail ring. The second look I picked for Anne is from the Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture collection with this navy blue and red abstract printed strapless intricately beaded asymmetrically tiered column gown. It is a gorgeous moment and I feel it would be perfect for a starlet representing Armani on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. I would love to see Anne wearing this gown a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a navy satin Judith Leiber Couture crystal clap clutch, a pair of navy suede Manolo Blahnik ‘Chaos’ ankle strap sandals, and a selection of major Gismondi 1754 jewels including a gorgeous one of a kind white diamond wreath necklace and a statement white diamond and sapphire art deco cocktail ring. Both looks would make sure Anne is back on the top of her fashion game again.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “The Human Voice” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The Human Voice was added to the Out of Competition selection in Venice after the full selection was released. The new film by Pedro Almodóvar, filmed and edited in record time as soon as the lockdown was lifted – The Human Voice, adapted from Jean Cocteau and starring Tilda Swinton. Since Swinton is being honored with an Honorary Golden Lion (the top prize in Venice) this year I was surprised that she didn’t have a film screening at the festival. Apparently so was the festival so they added The Human Voice. Almodóvar says: “I am very excited about coming back to Venice in such a special year, with COVID-19 as [an] involuntary guest. Everything will be different, and I am looking forward to discovering it in person.
It is an honour to accompany Tilda in a year in which she is receiving a very much deserved award Almodóvar was given the same honor last year). As a matter of fact, The Human Voice is a festival of Tilda, a display of her infinite and assorted registers as an actress. It’s been a spectacle to direct her.”So to promote The Human Voice I found to superb couture moments for the illustrious Tilda Swinton. I am always a fan of the actresses avant garde style and I cannot wait to see what she will bring to the red carpet in Venice. For the photocall I went for strong suiting with this draped white crepe wool Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture skirt suit. I adore this simple take on the classic skirt suit and I definitely think that it would be a super chic moment for Tilda to wear for the casual photocall event in Venice. I feel like it would be great with her flame orange red hair in a chic coif, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of white lace Gianvito Rossi ‘Liliane’ pointed toe pumps. Now for the premiere I went for DAZZLE picking this silver and white floral sequined Givenchy Spring 2020 Couture column gown which features a voluminous cocoon caped bodice. I love this dress and I hope it won’t be lost to the archive. The new creative director is now on the job at Givenchy so I don’t know if the house will allow stylists to option Clare Waight Keller’s final couture collection for the house. I hope so because I know that Tilda would shut it down especially if styled with her signature coif, defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ PVC detailed pointed toe pumps. I appreciate that Venice decided to add One Night in Miami and The Human Voice to the selection. It allowed me to add wishes for Cate Blanchett that I felt I was missing. I really wanted to include an Alexander McQueen look for Cate to wear in Venice. I always love when she bring the avant garde labels creations to life on the red carpet. In keeping with Cate’s more sustainable approach to fashion I’ve been including several archive moments I would love to see her bring out and give red carpet moments. We didn’t see many of the looks from the final Alexander McQueen collection from the houses eponymous founder on the red carpet. I would die if Cate showed up on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival wearing this black long sleeve a-line gown which features intricate gold beaded embroidery on the bodice and sleeves, and a pleated skirt from the Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 RTW collection. I feel like it would definitely be a major fashion moment on the red carpet. A sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of black and gold Pierre Hardy crystal embellished strappy sandals, and vintage gold Van Cleef & Arpels earrings set with circular-cut diamonds circa 1945 would definitely make sure this look is the perfect balance of drama and glamour. I’d also been thinking of a Prada or Miu Miu look for Venice jury member Ludivine Sagnier so the addition of this set of wishes allowed me to add a set for her. So I would love to see her take this black crinkled silk Prada Resort 2021 strapless midi dress and customize it turning it into a floor length ballgown with a sweeping train. It isn’t an avant garde over embellished moment we are used to seeing from Prada on the red carpet, especially not on a red carpet like this, but I feel like with Miuccia’s turn towards simplicity with the Resort 2021 season that it would be a really cool moment. I think that taking that customized gown styling it with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, pink glossy lips, a black satin Prada jeweled applique clutch, a pair of black Prada crystal embellished sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 white diamond teardrop paisley earrings would definitely make it a cool and glamorous moment. I’ve heard that Spanish actress and model Ester Exposito is heading to Venice to walk the red carpets. When I first heard that news my mind went directly to Etro. The Italian fashion brand has become such a major red carpet heavy hitter and I am expecting to see several looks from the label on the red carpet. So I went shopping from the runways and the virtual store racks and didn’t really find anything that I love. So I’m getting creative. I did love this gold lame long sleeve wrap style dress from the Etro Fall 2020 RTW collection which features a daring plunging neckline, center split, and an intricately embroidered wide velvet belt. I would love to see Ester rock a custom gown using this as inspiration. I feel like cutting the sleeves and making this a sleeveless disco gown lengthening the skirt to hit the floor could make it a super sexy glamorous moment for Ester. Taking this gown styling with a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, pink lips, a gold glitter resin Yliana Yepez ‘Eva’ tassel detailed minaudiere, a pair of gold metallic leather Jimmy Choo ‘Tesca’ strappy sandals, and a statement white diamond and multicolored precious stone Bulgari ‘Barocko’ collection bib necklace would definitely be a super glam moment for Ester. Now in a second wish for her I wanted to give Ester a modern princess moment with this dark midnight blue, gold, and white watercolor marble pattern Georges Hobeika Fall 2020 Couture ballgown which features a plunging neckline and a thin gold belted waist. I really think that this gown would be a gorgeous moment. I would love to see her take this gown and deliver it on the red carpet in Venice with a sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of gold ombre glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pointed toe pumps, and a Pomellato High Jewelry ‘Gourmette’ chain necklace made up of 2900 brown diamonds with a total of 69 carats that took the master jewelers 190 hours of work to complete. When I was adding another star who I would love to see rock the red carpet in Venice to represent Armani I really wanted make a statement so I decided to go with Zendaya. We’ve seen Zendaya front row at the Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture presentation as well as wearing the label for the Spider-Man: Far From Home premiere. So I would LOVE to see Zendaya on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival rocking two MAJOR gowns from the brands archive starting with this hot pink Armani Prive Fall 2007 Couture strapless high low bustier ballgown which features a bow layered ball skirt with black lining. To me this is the Zendaya style version of the iconic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes Marilyn Monroe gown. I really love to see her bring this major moment to life with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, soft smokey eyes, bold pink lips, a pair of matching hot pink Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ crystal embellished suede and PVC pointed toe pumps, and a dazzling Tiffany & Co. 2020 Blue Book collection white diamond and pink tourmaline strand bib necklace. The second look I picked for Zendaya isn’t as big, but just as statement making. I love this acid green strapless Armani Prive Spring 2012 Couture column gown which features a reptile skin beaded body and a feathered hem. This look was from the repeat show in Beijing where Giorgio Armani added a couple of new looks to the ones shown from the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. I would LOVE to see Zendaya slink down a major red carpet like Venice wearing this gown. Make it perfection with an abstract yet sleek retro inspired updo, soft smokey eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Loubi Queen’ ankle strap sandals. I would also like to see Zendaya highlight a black owned high jewelry brand with this gown styling the look with Vanlees jewels including a pair of white diamond and emerald ‘Legends of Africa’ wing earrings and a matching statement ‘Legends of Africa’ cuff bracelet. Glamour and a message.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “The Duke” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The 2020 Venice Film Festival official selection is much more Euro-centric, although not exclusively, than past editions. I feel like this was a conscious decision by festival organizers to plan for delegations from the films to actually be able to attend in person screenings at this years edition due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. We saw the Shanghai Film Festival go on with in person events and the closing ceremony gave us major fashion moments from labels like Valentino Couture, Azzi & Osta, Emilia Wickstead, Alberta Ferretti, Marchesa, and more. So I am hoping that this years Venice Film Festival will finally end the drought of glamour we’ve experienced since just after the Oscars this year. One film I hope to see have the cast on the red carpet for the premiere is The Duke which stars Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. The film is about how in 1961, Kempton Bunton, a 60 year old taxi driver, stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. He sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly. What happened next became the stuff of legend. An uplifting true story about a good man who set out to change the world and managed to save his marriage. So let’s get into my wishes shall we?I always love seeing Helen Mirren on the red carpet. She continues to deliver major fashion moments on the red carpet and I am definitely hoping she will be in Venice to promote her film. Now I would also understand if she chooses not to and join the screening virtually out of caution over COVID-19 concerns. If we do see her in Venice I’ve picked two glamorous looks for her to bring to life starting with a robins egg blue Erdem Resort 2021 ‘Mills’ jersey ruched waist midi dress which features a jewel neckline, long balloon sleeves, and pearl detail on the waist. I feel like this is a super chic moment and a nod to British designers which Helen has been known to do on the red carpet every once in a while. I decided to make this look a true homage to British fashion styling it with matching blue Malone Souliers ‘Maybelle’ wavy croc embossed pointed toe pumps. Finishing this look with a sleek bob, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and Chopard white diamond and pearl stud earrings would definitely make this a superb photocall fashion moment for Helen. For the premiere I turned to Armani Prive and this GORGEOUS ice blue band stripe ball gown from the Fall 2019 Couture which features a crystal embellished circular mesh long sleeve tunic. I love this gown and I really do think that Helen would as well. I would have some sort of nude lining added to the bodice and sleeves for her as she does like to be a little more covered. I feel like she would deliver this moment as glamour defined with a whispy bob, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a silver Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ croc embossed leather crystal clasp clutch, a pair of silver Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Monstera’ mesh paneled pointed toe crystal feather broach detailed pumps, and dazzling white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection cluster earrings. In my wishes for Cate Blanchett to bring to life in Venice this year as the festivals jury president I have given a little bit of everything. I’ve given you new, archive, re-wear, and vintage. I love that Cate isn’t afraid to dig into the archives for her looks. So I decided to dig into the archives from Jean Paul Gaultier Couture for this is. I love the film nior femme fatale glamour of this black velvet one shoulder column gown with attached white chiffon cape and sleeve from the Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 Couture. I have since it was first presented. I feel like if anyone could bring this major glam moment out of the archive and to life on the red carpet it would be Cate. I can imagine the regal glamour that Cate would infuse into this look. Personally I would love to see it styled with a sleek retro updo, defined eyes, deep red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Round Chick Alta’ peep toe half d’Orsay ankle strap platform pumps, a pair of vintage Van Cleef & Arpels white diamond and emerald art deco chandelier earrings, and a white gold set Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Ludo Hexagone’ white diamond bracelet. When it comes to fashion French actress, and 2020 Venice Film Festival jury member, Ludivine Sagnier is a little more subtle and classic. While some of the looks I’ve picked for her have pushed the boundaries on her sense of style I’ve also gone with more classic looks for Ludivine to wear on the red carpets in Venice. In today’s wishes I am going with another classic gown for Ludivine with this champagne gold crystal covered Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture strapless column gown. The gown is not a boundary pushing moment. Not for Ludivine and not for fashion, but a perfectly done classic moment can be just as impactful (and sometimes more) as a big ball gown or dramatic trains. This gown has the potential to bring a major glamour moment to the red carpet. If Ludivine stepped onto the Lido red carpet wearing this gown styled with an elegant side parted updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a ballet pink and champagne crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, gold Jimmy Choo ‘Emsy’ peep toe crisscross strap metallic leather sandals, and a vintage Bulgari white diamond art deco floral garland necklace from 1954 I know that this look would have that perfect classic glamour moment on her hands. Etro has become a major red carpet contender in the last year having dressed major stars for the Cannes Film Festival, last years Venice Film Festival, the Golden Globe Awards, and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. I can guarantee that the Italian fashion brand will have ambassadors walking the red carpet in Venice wearing their creations. I was on Etro.com looking at their stock when I saw this black crepe de chine gown which features draped detailing embellished with tone-on-tone sequin embroideries on the shoulders, a v-neckline, ruched detail, cutaway center split, and a flowing skirt with a long train. I knew I wanted to put it in my wishes for Venice, but I wasn’t sure for who. I was looking at who has worn Etro on the red carpet in the last year I saw Kat Graham at the InStyle Golden Globes party and it clicked. It isn’t a typical gown we see from Kat, but I feel like with the right styling it would be a major moment. I would go with a sleek blunt bang black bob, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Milos’ PVC strap sandals, and a statement David Webb ‘Cascade’ white diamond, emerald, and sapphire necklace to really make this the major moment I know Kat can deliver on the red carpet. As I was saving archive Armani red carpet looks there were a couple that made me think of Korean supermodel Soo Joo Park. I decided to include her in my wishes to see Armani on the red carpet, but I feel like this might be a pipe dream. See Armani has such a presence at the Venice Film Festival because Armani Beauty is a presenting sponsor of the film festival and Soo Joo is a face of L’Oreal Paris. So while I feel the two looks I’ve picked from Armani for Soo Joo are perfect for her the contractual conflict of interest probably means that these wishes are going to be just that; at least for the Venice Film Festival. It was the black and jade green liquid fiber Armani Prive Spring 2011 Couture strapless shapeless ballgown that made me want to include Soo Joo in these wishes. I love this gown, but it isn’t something that works for very many. I feel like Soo Joo who has an edgy almost alienistic sense of style would definitely be the perfect person to bring this look out of the Armani archives and onto the red carpet. I would love to see Soo Joo style this major look with a sleek side parted updo, avant garde thick lined eyes, pink lips, a pair of black satin Tom Ford squared platform peep toe ankle strap pumps, and the white diamond, emerald, and sapphire Tiffany & Co. Blue Book 2020 choker necklace that Charlize Theron wore for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. It would definitely be a major fashion moment. The second look I’ve picked for Soo Joo is also an archive moment with this black and white striped Giorgio Armani Spring 2007 RTW strapless gown which features a cutout bustier bodice with a sweetheart neckline and a tiered flamenco flounce skirt. It is the balance of avant garde styling and classic elegance that made me want to pull this gown out of the Armani Archives for Soo Joo. It is a simpler style, but I feel like she would once again make it a major fashion moment. To make it a superb high glamour moment I would love to see this gown styled with a 20s fingerwave updo, classic cat eye winged thick eyeliner, bold red lips, a pair of black leather, suede, and crystal embellished Saint Laurent knot detail sling back pumps, and a STATEMENT de Grisogono white diamond and pearl choker necklace.
