Prada Resort 2021 & Spring 2021 Menswear: Reflections On The Past

Over the summer we have seen a lot of headlines about how COVID-19 has robbed the fashion industry of debuts, but personally I think it is sadder that it robbed us of Miuccia Prada’s final collection as the solo creative director at her namesake label. In September she will be sharing the spotlight with new co-creative director Raf Simons. As per usual Miuccia combined her spring menswear show with her resort collection. The presentation was titled “Multiple Views: The Show That Never Happened.” For the Prada Spring/Summer 2021, a singular statement is replaced by the perspectives of many: multiple views, by a multitude of global creatives. The collection suggests the approach: different views, for a collection that proposes a myriad interpretations of the Prada man and woman. Congruent yet individually delineated, the collection is proposed in five chapters, which in turn are interpreted by five image-makers and artists. Terence Nance, Joanna Piotrowska, Martine Syms, Juergen Teller, and Willy Vanderperre each propose a film capturing a facet of the Prada collection, distinct and definite in its creative statement and ideology, a point of view on Prada.“I think that our job as fashion designers is to create clothes for people, that is the honesty of it. That is really the value of our job — to create beautiful, intelligent clothes. This season, we focused on that idea: it is about clothes, about giving value to pieces,” Prada said. “The clothes are simple — but with the concept of simplicity as an antidote to useless complication. This is a moment that requires some seriousness, a moment to think and to reflect on things. What do we do, what is fashion for, what are we here for? What can fashion contribute, to a community?” We did see one of the simplest Prada collections in quite some time. It hearkened back to the 90’s. Full of nylon, crisp cotton, thick knits with just a sprinkling of floral pattern or texture from lace. It was all very utilitarian, which is a signature in the DNA of the Prada clientele. As we have seen from many designers in the midst of the pandemic Miuccia looked inward and for her final collection as the solo creative she looked back and updated looks she presented as her first in 1988. This collection is timeless and will easily be one of the most collectable collections that she has presented. It is extremely wearable and sellable. I am sure we will see stars fighting to snatch some of these looks up to bring them to the red carpet. Below you are going to find several of my initial wishes to see Hollywood embrace the Prada minimalism on the red carpet.

In his review of the collection for Vogue Runway Luke Leitch wrote “Simplicity can be complicated and complication can be simple.” This statement is perfectly true. Every look in this collection was super simple but executed perfectly. In my in depth research I have definitely seen that looks that seem to be the simplest are in fact the most complicated, especially when you see minimal seaming or seams that are barely visible. I commend that in quarantine that Miuccia and her fabulous ateliers at Prada were able to perfectly execute this collection.

Pre-Fall 2020 Round-Up Red Carpet Wish List

There are a lot of brands that don’t release lookbooks of their pre-collections during the season instead waiting for when the collections will start being delivered into stores. So while now we usually see designers releasing their resort collections in May, June, & July there have been a couple of Pre-Fall 2020 collections released around the Resort 2021 collections. So you’ve already seen me review Self Portrait, Erdem, & Alexander McQueen‘s Pre-Fall 2020 collections and give you a couple of wishes in those reviews, but I have more wishes for some of those labels as well as for brands that I didn’t feel the urge to review. So check out the 48 wishes from Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Marni, Miu Miu, Self-Portrait, Rasario, & Roland Mouret. With red carpets still on pause this is a great escape to the fantasy world of fashion.

So now you have seen all these wishes let me ask you. Which ones do you most want to see come true when we start seeing red carpets happen again?

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 29

There is a lot of variation in the labels I want to see on the Met Gala red carpet in this set of wishes, and in my overall wishes in general. I looked at last years Met Gala red carpet gallery on There are 206 images in that gallery and I counted how many different designer labels were featured. Any guesses? In those 206 images there were only 62 different designers featured. In all of my wishes for this years Met Gala red carpet I have about the same number of stars featured, but I have 83 different designers featured. Now while I do have a lot of wishes for labels like Valentino, Givenchy, and Louis Vuitton a lot of those are just one or two wishes per label. Looking at the five designers featured in this set of wishes for this years red carpet three weren’t even on the Met red carpet last year. I want to see more variation in labels than we have seen on the Met Gala red carpet. There are so many different labels out there why should stars be restricted to just a small box? Since Ralph & Russo launched its runway collection in January 2014 the label has only had two Met Gala moments. The first was Arizona Muse in a gorgeous red ballgown at the Charles James themed gala in 2015 and then a huge white and black ruffled ball gown worn by Janelle Monae in 2017 for the “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons” themed gala. I’ve picked three Ralph & Russo looks I want to see on the Met Gala red carpet this year. The first was for Bella Hadid, the second was Katy Perry, and now the third and final wish is for supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio. The former Victoria’s Secret Angel hasn’t been on the Met Gala red carpet since the technology themed gala in 2016 I was wondering who should wear this pale pink silk crêpe Ralph & Russo Spring 2020 Couture column gown, featuring oversized pale pink and mustard silk taffeta bows and sashes for this years red carpet. It just made sense to me that a model would be the perfect person to bring this look to life for this years Met Gala. I love it when Alessandra does classic glamour on the red carpet and I know that she would just ooze sophistication wearing this gown on the Met Gala red carpet especially if styled with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, ruby red lips, a pair of gold crystal embellished Rene Caovilla ‘Dania’ strappy platform sandals, and a beautiful cushion cut yellow diamond and white marquis cut white diamond Harry Winston wreath necklace. To be completely honest I was shocked when no one wore Vera Wang for the Met Gala last year. The designer known for her bridal gowns and evening wear has been a go to designer for at least one star on the Met Gala red carpet for years. She has created some of my favorite gowns that work perfectly with the theme like the Sistine Chapel fresco print gown for Ariana Grande in 2018, the purple jacquard ball gown for Kerry Washington n 2015, and the silver feathers for Rita Ora in 2016. I need to see Vera back on this years Met Gala red carpet dressing a couple of stars. You’ve already seen my wish for a custom grey draped goddess gown for Jodie Comer. For the rest of my Vera Wang wishes for this years red carpet (there’s some still to come) I started looking through the labels archived collections. I was looking at Vera’s iconic ‘black and white’ Spring 2014 Bridal collection to find options for this years red carpet. I knew I wanted to have Vera dress Constance Wu and so I was in a deep dive into the photo archives to find the perfect gown. I saw this ivory silk, lace, and tulle strapless ball gown which features a black lace detail on the strapless sweetheart neckline and knew I had found the moment. Now obviously this gown can deliver serious bridal vibes, so styling for this look would be really important. One thing I would like to see Vera do to make this look a little less bridal and more red carpet is adding black lace detail on the hem of the dress. Then styling the look with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, the black leather opera gloves the look was styled with for the lookbook, a pair of black leather Sophia Webster ‘Coco Crystal’ pumps with an ombre crystal heel, and a statement modern art deco white diamond Cartier High Jewelry ‘Etourdissant’ collar necklace I think would take this look out of the realm of overtly bridal into the realm of red carpet glamour. This set of Met Gala wishes is full of models. It has actually been a long time since we have seen supermodel Heidi Klum attend a Met. The last time I saw was back in 2013 when she bucked the theme and wore a super glamorous Marchesa gown for the gala themed “Punk: Chaos to Couture.” With her new hit Amazon fashion series Making The Cut I would love to see Heidi back on this red carpet. I feel like that will be surprising to many because I typically hate what Heidi is wearing on the red carpet, but I adore this moss green Christian Siriano Fall 2020 RTW ‘Funhouse’ one shoulder cape sleeve column gown and I could imagine this being a superb moment for Heidi to bring to life on this red carpet. While last year was not the first year we had seen Christian Siriano designs on the Met Gala red carpet it was his most major year yet. He dressed Janelle Monae, Ryan Murphy, Laverne Cox, and Michael Urie. This year I’ve picked two beautiful Siriano looks for the red carpet. This one for Heidi is the sleeker side of the Siriano label. Heidi has been a good friend to Siriano’s successful fashion house since he won Project Runway back when she was still the series host in 2008 on the shows fourth season. So I definitely could see the two attending the Met Gala together. I would ask Christian to lengthen the cape sleeve so it has a long train to add just a little bit of drama to this look. I think a teased bouffant updo with bangs, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of sand colored Alevi Milano ‘Penelope’ crystal embellished strappy sandals, and dazzling green tourmaline Anabela Chan ‘Papillon’ white and yellow diamond trimmed drop earrings would definitely make this a beautiful moment for Heidi to bring to life on the Met Gala red carpet. Logan Browning has had a major year this year. She was one of the SAG ambassadors for the 2020 SAG Awards and has been dressed by coveted labels like Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph & Russo, Chloe, and Prabal Gurung, but she has never been to the Met Gala. So as I was looking for the perfect person to wear this ice blue pleated tulle Prabal Gurung Fall 2020 RTW strapless gown which features a structured crystal embellished neckline and as I was searching for the person I saw Logan’s Prabal ensemble from the NAACP Image Awards and the idea of her wearing this gown just clicked in my head. It would definitely be the perfect look for someone to wear on their first Met Gala red carpet. Wearing a shapeless gown is super difficult for anyone. The automatic assumption is “well is she pregnant?” So this look could be a tricky one, but I think that Logan has the effortless edge and glamour to really let this gown come to life with that effortless air it will need. Now with this Prabal gown I would also love to see Logan pair the look with jewels from Prabal’s collaboration with Tasaki including a pair of ‘Cove’ akoya pearl and white diamond drop earrings, an architectural white gold and akoya pearl ‘Aurora’ cuff bracelet, and a white diamond ‘Spirea’ cocktail right. Finishing the styling of this gown with a tight braided hairstyle to keep the look balanced and show off those earrings, smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, and a pair of contrasting holographic blue Gianvito Rossi ‘Temptation’ PVC paneled peep toe slingback pumps would ensure that Logan delivers a major moment on her first Met Gala red carpet. During the time of last years Met Gala Bottega Veneta by Daniel Lee was still in its infancy. He had only presented one pre-collection and one runway show. I was really slow to jump on the Daniel Lee train. I wasn’t a big fan. I wasn’t happy with his seemingly endless copy of other designers and poor construction. I still hate his accessories, but Rosie Huntington Whitley wore a look from his Pre-Fall 2019 collection for a bareMinerals event and it was successful. Then she was his date for the British Fashion Awards wearing a customized look from the Bottega Veneta Spring 2020 RTW collection, also successful. I would bet that if the brand, and Daniel, are on the Met Gala red carpet this year I would bet that Rosie would be their guest. I went round and round on what the custom gown for Rosie would look like. In fact I changed my mind as I was writing this list. People who read fashion blogs might be a little surprised that I’ve got this nude Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2020 look on my list for Rosie. That would be because Rihanna wore the full lookbook version of this ensemble for the ROC Nation Brunch before the Grammy’s earlier this year. When I first saw the crystal embellished ruched halter nude midi dress in this lookbook I immediately put it on reserve for Rosie to wear on the Met Gala red carpet. When Rihanna wore it I was devastated0. Then Daniel Lee sent versions of this gown down the Fall 2020 RTW runway too and the thought of this gown for Rosie came back into my mind. Originally I was thinking of a red liquid sequin turtleneck gown from the Fall 2020 collection, but I just couldn’t shake the idea of this gown. So instead I decided to create a custom red moment of this gown where the hem reaches the floor. Styling this gown with a curly romantic updo embellished with a Cindy Chao ruby and white diamond bow broach detail, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a red crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Rectangle’ clutch, and a pair of red crystal embellished Aquazzura ‘Tequila’ strappy sandals would make sure this look dazzles.

Milan Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List

As they say fashion week stops for nothing. Well this season the Coronavirus tried to shut down the bi-annual Milan Fashion Week, and only partially succeeded. While the theaters on the final day of Milan Fashion Week might have been devoid of the usual guests of editors, buyers, celebrities, and influencers the shows still went on with those aforementioned people watching the collections come down the runway via a livestream from their hotel rooms. Overall I feel like while in shear number I was disappointed in the offerings that came out of Milan, but overall the quality of moment far exceeded both New York and London. In my wishes below you will find some absolutely major wishes for which I am now sending major positive energy out into the universe to manifest the red carpet moments and keep be excited about fashion. After loosing inspiration towards the end of last year and a mostly lackluster and rushed awards season the looks below give me hope that this year will have major glamour moments in store for us.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

Closing out my wishes for the looks that came down the runway during New York Fashion Week from the Fall 2020 RTW collections. This season I noticed how even more diverse my wishes were. Designers who typically design for one type of person seemed to open to the most diverse set of starlets who I can picture wearing the looks on the red carpet. Now of course the people I see wearing the looks below are just my personal opinion, but I definitely think that the red carpets over the next several months that will include the Tribeca Film Festival, the No Time To Die promo tour, the Met Gala, the Cannes Film Festival, the Tony Awards, and more will see some major fashion moments. We are already seeing the looks from NYFW brought to life on the red carpet and the looks are phenomenal. I can’t wait to see what the next several months have in store. So enjoy these wishes and stay tuned my wishes for the runways of London Fashion Week are coming for you soon!

New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

New York Fashion Week happened later than normal. We got to see some previews of the collections on the SAG Awards, Grammy Awards, and Oscars red carpets. I was honestly really surprised by just how strong the collections shown during New York Fashion Week. These runways make me really excited for the red carpets over the next several months. The glamorous looks that span looks perfect for everything from the sidewalk to the red carpet. We will see many of the looks from these collections on the red carpet and below are just 55 early predictions of who I would love to see bring some of my favorite looks to walk the New York Fashion Week runways to life on the red carpet.

2019 American Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

I am actually really excited for the 2019 American Music Awards red carpet this weekend. I have been fighting for inspiration to continue blogging lately. Which I think is made obvious by the fact that I have been super sparse in my posting over the last several weeks and months. I think that all the awards nominations coming out have revived my heart for blogging and I just want to see everyone on the American Music Awards red carpet come to slay and really show me why I love doing this thing. Billy Porter has been a major source of inspiration this year with his major gender non-conforming looks from Christian Siriano, The Blonds, Thom Browne, and more on the red carpets this year. The POSE star is one of the many confirmed to present at the AMA’s this weekend and when I saw his name on the list I was really excited. I am just praying to the goddesses of fashion that Billy brings his a-game. I would LOVE to see Billy deliver a major couture moment on this red carpet wearing this black silk Elie Saab Fall 2019 Couture suit which features a mandarin collar, leg-o-mutton sleeves, an obi style belt, and a train. While I would definitely not pick this look as a typical menswear moment I don’t ever expect Billy to bring the typical to the red carpet. This couture moment could be really cool especially if paired with thick black framed glasses and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘The Joker’ supple black lambskin and tonal veau velour ankle chelsea boots with a slight heel. Constance Wu could very well be making another awards season run to support her movie Hustlers in 2020 and I am hoping that we see her really bring her a-game to the red carpet. She will be another of the many presenters at this years American Music Awards and I decided to go for a super sexy and glamorous moment with this creamsicle coral Atelier Versace Fall 2019 Couture mini dress which features sheer lace and crystal embellished draped panels. I fell like this color on Constance would be a real WOW moment. A sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a gold snakeskin Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ crystal embellished clasp faceted clutch, a pair of gold Versace metallic snakeskin platform ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Fernando Jorge ‘Brilliant’ collection jewels including a pair of ‘Clarity’ 18k yellow gold and diamond sunburst drop earrings and a matching ‘Radiant’ cocktail ring would definitely ensure that Constance is on top of her game on this red carpet. Kelsea Ballerini is nominated this weekend for Favorite Female Artist – Country and she will also be one of the many presenters so I am really interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpet. There was a time when Kelsea was being dressed by the likes of Zac Posen, Michael Kors, and Monique Lhuillier when I thought that she was going to be a real fashion contender in the category of Country Music ladies on the red carpet, but something seems to have taken a turn for the typical country music lady tack. I want to see Kelsea buck the tacky and typical for the red carpet at the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday night. I would LOVE to see her give this major hot pink satin Marchesa Spring 2020 RTW strapless column gown which features a slim fit, column silhouette, strapless, sculpted origami rosette bodice, and peplum waist a turn on the red carpet. I think that she would be perfect to bring this look to the red carpet as it is super youthful and fun, but still a super glamorous moment for a nominated starlet. I would add a matching hot pink satin Giambattista Valli ‘Starburst’ box clutch, a sleek low bun, glossy nude pink lips, a pair of hot pink suede Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Neyla’ ankle strap sandals, and Kwiat ‘Starry Night’ white diamond chandelier earrings to really make this a superb moment for Kelsea to bring to life on this red carpet. Regina King has had a phenomenal year both with regards to her fashion and to her career. I have been loving seeing Mrs. King really become a red carpet queen over the last year or so and I am excited to see what more the future has in store for her. I decided that a gown just wasn’t the vibe I am expecting to see Regina deliver on this red carpet on Sunday night so I went on a search for something a little more relaxed that still brings the fashion factor. Enter this emerald green Sies Marjan Spring 2020 RTW ensemble which features a draped ‘Amira’ satin camisole top paired with a pleated coated-jersey ‘Amalia’ midi skirt. This look spoke to me the moment I saw it. It went right to the feeling I am expecting to see Regina bring to this red carpet on Sunday night. It is the right laid back style moment that would be elevated to the perfect level of glam by adding an intricate braided updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of emerald green suede and metallic gold leather Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ PVC detail pointed toe pumps, and a pair of super statement David Webb ‘Samurai’ carved emerald, white diamonds, black enamel, 18K gold, and platinum.Sunday night is really all about Taylor Swift. In addition to her five nominations, including Artist of the Year, the country come pop star is being honored with the Artist of the Decade award. Now when they first announced that Taylor would be receiving this award was that it was just five years ago that the AMA’s gave her the Dick Clark Award for Excellence. It was a “lifetime achievement” style award at a time when Taylor was just officially starting the transition out of her country comfort zone and turning into a serious pop star. Now the more I thought about it I definitely think that Taylor definitely deserves the Artist of the Decade title. She has really had a journey from sugary sweet princess to a pop star in training to an edgy reputation ruining stint and has come back on top again. With every album she has released she has reinvented herself with a new character and persona, unlike just about everyone. Since the start of the decade Taylor has put out five albums with most of her iconic hit songs coming out of those albums. Now there was a lot of controversy recently about the performance that Taylor would be giving at Sunday nights show, but it seems like it has worked out and we will see Taylor demonstrate her decade in music on the AMA’s stage. Before that performance though I am praying that she will shut down the red carpet. It has been a while since I have really loved one of Taylor’s red carpet moments and I just imagine that given the fact that she is ensured to receive a major honor at the AMA’s that she will be on top form and deliver something major. I knew immediately what I wanted to see her bring to life on this red carpet with this pale blue tulle one shoulder Ralph & Russo Fall 2019 Couture asymmetrical gown which features a thigh-high slit, a cornflower blue silk taffeta bow belt, hand embellished with devoré ostrich feathers, and light azore glass beads. Taylor has been loving this light and airy pastel vibe lately, aside from the two neon Versace print jacket dresses she wore for the Teen Choice Awards and the MTV VMA’s, and this gown just would ensure that Taylor really delivers the major moment I am praying for. Finish the look with a loose updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, dazzling silver crystal fringe embellished Gianvito Rossi ‘Jasmine’ metallic leather strappy sandals, and Tiffany & Co. white diamond and aquamarine art deco drop earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

The 2019 American Music Awards will take place on Sunday November 24, 2019.

2019 Toronto International Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

As I mentioned yesterday I have decided to do my 2019 Toronto International Film Festival wishes in a new format. There are just so many star studded films, and films with huge a-list star filled casts, screening at this years festival that I wanted to make sure that I got as many wishes out into the universe as possible before the festival kicks off on Thursday. Today’s wishes feature some of the premieres I am most looking forward to seeing including Hustlers, Seberg, and Ford vs. Ferrari. When it comes to the fashion we see at the Toronto International Film Festival the styles are wide ranging. We see stars wearing everything from simple smart cocktail moments to couture gowns. It depends on the category that the film is screening in. You can definitely get an idea for that wide range in styles in my wishes below which range from custom Vivienne Westwood silk charmuse skirt with beaded nipple pasties for Cardi B to wear for the gala premiere of Hustler to the suit with a tulle train from Pamella Roland that I’ve picked for Allison Janney to wear for the special presentation of Bad Education. I will say that after being underwhelmed with the Venice Film Festival fashion so far I am hoping that stars will be upping their game for TIFF.

The 2019 Toronto International Film Festival will open on Thursday September 5, 2019 and will run through Sunday September 15, 2019.

2019 Teen Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

We are getting closer to the last of my 2019 Teen Choice Awards wishes. Honestly I haven’t been able to confirm as many attendees this year as I like to, but that doesn’t mean that there are plenty of possibilities when it comes to who could pop up on this red carpet or on the stage at this years Teen Choice Awards. I want to see this be the most fashON Teen Choice Awards ever and in today’s wishes are five ladies who I know would bring that major fashion factor to the red carpet. Amber Heard is nominated for Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie Actress for her performance in Aquaman. I go back and forth with Amber and her style. I know she has the potential to deliver major fashion moments, but often I feel like she gets lost in over-styling. I want to see her bring something sexy, dazzling, and fun to the red carpet which is why I picked this gunmetal silver Balmain Resort 2020 sleeveless mini dress which features sequined embroidery throughout, and a black and red fringe trim hem for her to bring to life on this red carpet. Now Amber isn’t a “Teen” anymore and she is a big movie star so I don’t know if she would actually rock the red carpet, but this look is definitely ready for the stage if she doesn’t. A sleek slicked back hairstyle, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of strappy black Christian Louboutin ‘Filamenta’ mesh detail pointed toe platform d’Orsay pumps, and chic Anita Ko ‘Rain Drop’ diamond fringe earrings would definitely make this the perfect look for Amber to bring to life at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards. I have to say I really don’t believe that Constance Wu will be at the Teen Choice Awards this weekend, but since she is nominated for Choice Comedy Movie Actress thanks to her role in Crazy Rich Asians I decided to include her in my wishes anyway. Because why not? I decided to go for a bright fun moment with this aqua Zuhair Murad Resort 2020 long sleeve ruched mini dress which features a v-neckline, ruffled details, lace panels, and a belted waist as it just screams fun, flirty, and sexy moment for Constance to bring to the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards. To finish this look in a really chic and sophisticated way I could style the dress with sleek center parted locks tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, coral-y pink lips, a pair of gold Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ metallic leather and PVC pointed toe pumps, and chic Mizuki 14-karat gold, freshwater pearl, and diamond drop earrings. Also if Constance doesn’t wear this for the Teen Choice Awards it would be a really great press stop option for her to wear promoting her upcoming movie Hustlers. Hailee Steinfeld has a lot of competition in the Choice Action Movie Actress category, but seeing as she is the closest in the category to being a “teen” I would still love to see her on this red carpet. She knows how to serve looks and I feel like while this back and navy Giorgio Armani Fall 2019 RTW ensemble which features a strapless bodice, leather pleated peplum belted waist, and high waisted cropped pants with origami fold pockets isn’t a typical look I would expect to see on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet I definitely think that Hailee would sell it to me. All these wishes are elevated versions of the looks I feel like we could see on this red carpet, but they just pack a little extra punch. I also think that who is wearing a certain look influences how that look comes across. I think that Hailee has the effortless diva presence to really bring this look to life on this red carpet especially if paired with a sleek high donut bun, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of ice blue glitter Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Miri’ pearl detail chunky heel pointed toe pumps, and geometric Nikos Koulis sapphire and blue diamond earrings. I have to say out of all the ladies on today’s list I think that Lady Gaga is the least likely to be on the red carpet at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards. This really doesn’t seem like her crowd, but if she wins for Choice Drama Movie Actress or any of the other three awards she is nominated for I would hope that she would at least sneak in the back door to accept the awards on stage. If she does attend this event on Sunday night I would love to see her do so in edgy princess style wearing this Cinderella blue Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2019 high low gown which features an asymmetrical off the shoulder neckline, leather belted waist, and a rise and fall raw edge handkerchief hemline. I went straight for the over the top glamour moment for Gaga because that is just who she is. I definitely think that if anyone could make this dress work for the Teen Choice Awards it is her. On just about anyone else I would typically say that this dress is too much for this red carpet, but it is Gaga we are talking about. She is the embodiment of #WhenInDoubtBeExtra. I would style the look with the lookbooks black Alexander McQueen crystal jeweled bangle sandals adding a vintage inspired updo, defined winged eyes, red lips, and simple Djula ‘Eclat’ diamond drop stud earrings to really ensure that this look is pristine Gaga at her most glamorous. Finishing out today’s wishes is probably the most likely person on this list to walk the Teen Choice Awards red carpet: Zendaya. This girl is a queen when it comes to fashion and I definitely want to see her bring a major fashON moment to this red carpet on Sunday night. She is nominated for Choice Summer Movie Actress for her performance in Spider-Man: Far From Home and I can definitely see her taking home the surfboard. I would absolutely love to see her do so wearing this Monse Resort 2020 ensemble which features a black and beige striped one sleeve scarf detailed silk chiffon blouse and a khaki and cream two tone cotton twill button detail mini skirt. This look defines everything I love about Monse as it meshes the feminine and the masculine in a way that just reads uber sophisticated. It delivers the ‘Borrowed From The Boys’ trend in the most glamorous and feminine of ways. Finishing this look with a sleek high bun, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Lancer’ strappy pointed toe pumps, and a pair of Marco Bicego ‘Africa Constellation’ 18-karat yellow gold and diamond disc stud earrings would ensure that Zendaya definitely owns the fashON moments of this red carpet.

The 2019 Teen Choice Awards will take place on Sunday August 11, 2019.

2019 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

Yesterday I kicked off my 2019 Met Gala wishes with two posts and started getting really excited about possibilities of what everyone will wear as they ascend those famous front steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is one of the, if not the, hottest tickets of the year. With the average seat at this gala costing $30,000 per person the gala could easily raise $15,000,000 for the museum in one night. Now thanks to sponsorships and gifts that amount can end up actually equaling a lot more. I have super high expectations for exorbant drama on this red carpet this year with the theme of ‘Camp’ style. If any red carpet were to celebrate ‘Camp’ what better one would it be than the Met Gala?Anne Hathaway is a frequent flier on the red carpet at the Met Gala and I am definitely very intrigued to see what she will bring to this red carpet. This will mark the first Met Gala that she has attended though since starting to work with power styling Law Roach and I definitely think that those two can cook up a major moment for this red carpet. Anne has been part of the Valentino family for a very long time. She is actually close personal friends with Mr Valentino himself and she does wear a lot of Valentino on the red carpet. I am seriously praying that the Valentino crew on the Met Gala red carpet is huge and I definitely think that Anne should be part of the mix. While I knew that I wanted a big Valentino crew while I was watching the incredibly amazing Valentino Spring 2019 Couture show, I decided that it was this black, gold, pink, and powder blue sleeveless jacquard ballgown from the Valentino Fall 2018 Couture collection that I think would be perfect for Anne to wear on this red carpet. It is a typical Anne gown in its shape, but the intricate embroidery really makes this a major moment and I know that Anne could sell it to me. Now Law might be tempted to have Anne rock the runways floral embellished swim cap that the gown was paired with on the runway for this red carpet, but I definitely think that is a mistake. A soft chignon, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ leather printed PVC strap sandals, and vintage Van Cleef & Arpels 24k gold set diamond, sapphire, and turquoise cluster earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Anne. This time last year I would have never even thought about putting Constance Wu on a wish list for the Met Gala. Then Crazy Rich Asians happened and she started working with Hollywood power stylist Micaela Erlanger and now she was one of the first people I thought of for this red carpet. I wanted to make sure I had a really great Vera Wang wish for this red carpet, but wondered that if since the Vera Wang Spring 2019 Bridal collection was already being sold and worn by brides, released a year ago, and worn by several stars (most to epic fail level) I wondered if it was really a good idea. Ultimately I decided to keep it going because this nude, yellow, and green mermaid gown which features a ruched strapless bodice, rosette detail, and a dramatic train was different enough to all the ballgowns that we have seen from this collection on the red carpet and I think that Constance could sell it to me. She is a very petite person and a lot of drama could overwhelm her and a trumpet gown not cut perfectly could make her look even shorter than she already is, but I definitely think that Vera would ensure that this is a major moment for the actress. A sleek updo, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of blush satin Miu Miu crystal block heel platform sandals, and Chopard white diamond and emerald cluster drop earrings would definitely let the gown do the talking in this look, which is exactly what it needs to be head to toe perfection. Janelle Monae was front row at the Thom Browne Fall 2019 RTW show during Paris Fashion Week and it made me extremely hopeful that she would be rocking the designer on the red carpet at the Met Gala this year. Janelle definitely knows how to do ‘Camp’ style on the red carpet and Thom Browne is one of the campiest designers out there and I think that the two would make some major magic on this red carpet. Now while I have actually come up with a lot of custom gowns for this red carpet I wasn’t able to really come up with an idea for Janelle to wear on this red carpet, so instead I went searching the brands archives. I found this red lace ensemble which features a structured double breasted blazer, high collar bodice, and a stripe rose embroidered knee length skirt on the runway of the Thom Browne Fall 2013 RTW collection and thought it was a really chic look that I definitely think Janelle could rock on this red carpet. I think that if Janelle does wear a Thom Browne design on this red carpet that it will definitely have a lot of volume, a floral detail, and some major color and I will most likely fall in love with it. I added another camp detail to this look via a black Thom Browne ‘Crab Icon’ calfskin clutch. Finishing the look with a 40’s rockabilly style updo, defined eyes, red lips, red Christian Louboutin ‘Pijonina’ suede peep toe sculpted pumps, and a pair of simple cross hatched crystal and diamond David Webb ‘Button’ earrings would definitely make this a truly major ‘Camp’ moment for Janelle to deliver on this red carpet. Michelle Obama has never been to a Met Gala, but something tells me that this year that is going to change. The former First Lady has been on a major book tour for the last several months serving some major looks. I was thinking of who I wanted to be the date of the incomparable American couturier Zac Posen this year and thought that Michelle would be the perfect person to rock a custom design from the designer on this red carpet. She has worn a few of Zac’s designs in the past and I can just imagine what the two could do on this red carpet. I decided to go for more of a classic Zac look even though he usually does extremely well at creating a look that matches the theme of the Met Gala, but also stays true to his aesthetic. It took several different gowns to create this one custom gown for Michelle. It started with the Zac Posen sequined ruffle draped off the shoulder column gown that created the neckline, then I decided a column gown wasn’t enough so I found a structured silk faille gown with a mermaid hem. That to me still wasn’t enough drama so I decided to layer a ball skirt train over all of that (still keeping that original mermaid silhouette) to really make sure that this was an amazing moment for Michelle to bring to life on this red carpet. Now some might see the fact that I picked a blue gown for Michelle as a political statement, but I will assure it it wasn’t I just loved the shade of cobalt that the gowns were and decided to keep it as she does wear bold blue incredibly well. Add a chic updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of multi-tone blue and pink Jimmy Choo ‘Travis’ glittered strappy pointed toe pumps, and simple yet chic Harry Winston white diamond cluster and sapphire teardrop earrings to ensure this look is the epitome of dramatic glamour from head to toe.Naomi Campbell knows ‘Camp.’ One could say that one of the most iconic incarnations of the ‘Camp’ aesthetic is when Naomi showed up for her last day of court ordered community service (following the infamous cell phone throwing incident) wearing a Dolce & Gabbana crystal encrusted gown. So I am expecting her to definitely serve a major look on this red carpet. It would be quite interesting to see her pull that gown out of the back of her closet, but since I am on a full Dolce & Gabbana boycott that idea didn’t even cross my mind until I was literally writing the sentence. Don’t worry because Naomi has options a plenty for things that she can wear to the Met Gala this year. Her favorite labels including Valentino, Iris Van Herpen, Dior, Azzedine Alaia, Atelier Versace, and Jean Paul Gaultier all know how to epitomize ‘Camp’ style. I could have easily picked a look from any of those labels, but I decided to go to another label incredibly close to Naomi’s heart, Alexander McQueen. Now I could have easily picked an archive McQueen design designed by Lee himself for Naomi with a dramatic shape and full skirt, but I was taken with this black tuxedo that features hot pink rosette draped leg-o-mutton satin sleeves when it came down the runway and when I was thinking who could rock it on this red carpet Naomi was the first person to come to mind. Naomi can be a little unpredictable when it comes to style of her red carpet options as I never exactly know what she will choose. The iconic super model has always worn a chic, yet typically simple gown for this red carpet so a tuxedo is definitely a bit of a departure for her. I do think however that if anyone has the potential to make it work with effortless ease it would be Naomi. Now I personally would style this suit with a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, glossy dark red lips, a pair of black Azzedine Alaia banded suede sandals, and statement carved rubellite and diamond De Grisogono pendant drop earrings to ensure it gives equal parts supermodel ease and ‘Camp’ drama. Zoe Kravitz is a face of Saint Laurent beauty and definitely fits Anthony Vaccarello’s vibe for the brand. I was watching the Saint Laurent Fall 2019 RTW show to get ideas for custom looks for the Saint Laurent crew (which is typically a bunch of supermodels in black mini dresses) when I fell in LOVE with this black long sleeve mini dress which features sequin diagonal striping, a belted waist, and a tulle tutu hem. To me this is the perfect meshing of Anthony’s sleeker sexy style and the essence of ‘Camp’ dressing. It is a little more wow with volume than we are used to seeing Zoe wear on the red carpet, but I definitely think that she would bring a more relaxed vibe to this statement look on this red carpet. I would finish the look with a high bun of braids, soft makeup, a pair of black Saint Laurent fur detail pointed to d’orsay ankle strap pumps, and Yvan Tufenkjian ‘Stacked’ collection diamond ear jackets to make sure the look is both dramatic and effortless at the same time.

The 2019 Met Gala will take place on the first Monday in May: May 6, 2019.
