2021 SAG Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

It has been a whirlwind this year seeing how the different major award shows adapted to still go on amidst the global pandemic. There was the hybrid virtual nominees and in person presenters presented from both coast of the United States, the fully remote Critics Choice Awards, and the scaled back yet in person Grammy Awards. Each award show so far has taken their own path with accommodating the public health orders across the country and the world. The Screen Actors Guild has decided not to do any sort of live event, which is totally different. Instead they will be airing a one hour special that will be pre-recoreded. So these wishes are really just thoughts about what I would like to see as I am sure that portions of the show have already been recorded. As we move closer to this weekends event let’s dive into the wishes I have today for looks I would love to see worn for the SAG Awards. Anya Taylor Joy’s performance as Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit has earned her both a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award. She has done so turning back to the same label Christian Dior Couture for both shows. It would not surprise me in the least if she will not be the next face of Dior, maybe the Miss Dior fragrance. It would actually shock me if Anya wore anything other than Dior for the SAG Awards special. I’ve loved this white and black sequined silk tulle Christian Dior Fall 2020 Couture spaghetti strap tea length ballgown since I first saw it. It was presented as a miniature collection on doll sized mannequins, but I would love to see the Dior ateliers take this miniature and create the full version for Anya. It is glamorous and sophisticated with a little bit of sex appeal. The vintage inspired nature of this gown blends together the iconic style sensibilities of both Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. To really make this look perfection I would style it with a sleek rose inspired updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of white satin Aquazzura ‘Celeste 105’ strappy crystal embellished sandals, and a selection of Bulgari jewels including simple white diamond and emerald drop earrings and a delicate white diamond ‘Wings of Rome’ feather inspired necklace. It would be DRAMA and GLAMOUR defined. Cynthia Erivo has shown up for the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and Grammy Awards this year and has served a MAJOR look at each. For the Globes she wore a neon green Valentino Couture neoprene tea length gowncustom lace and tulle Vera Wang for the Critics Choice Awards, and then a gorgeous silver and gold sequin and bead embellished custom Louis Vuitton gown for the Grammy’s. Each look she’s served could easily be a Best Dressed of the Year contender and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next when she is a presenter at the SAG Awards this weekend. I would love to see Cynthia go for bold dazzle wearing this black and silver Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture one sleeve sheer ballgown which features a 3D feather inspired feather detail on the neckline and a zebra inspired pattern. I feel like this moment is a major statement moment and Cynthia would definitely be able to sell it to me with ease. Now with this gown I would LOVE to see Cynthia style this gown with her signature bleached buzz cut, thick defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, black Roger Vivier ‘Mini Broche Vivier Buckle’ peep toe platform ankle strap sandals with a chunky clear crystal embellished plexi heel, a Maria Tash ‘Apsara Clicker’ white diamond septum ring, and a selection of MAJOR Djula jewels including a pair of white diamond cluster fan earrings, a single ear with top and side white diamond ear cuffs, and a selection of white diamond rings strewn about all her fingers to really make this another major fashion moment from the powerhouse. Dan Levy has also served up LOOKS this awards season. He’s strayed away from the typical menswear looks wearing canary yellow Valentino Couture wool and sequins for the Globes and victorian military inspired Dior Men for the Critics Choice Awards and each one is a Best Dressed of the Year worthy ensemble. I am expecting him to take home an Actor trophy for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Comedy Series this weekend and I want to see him do so in high style. I turned back to Valentino picking this very classic cut black Valentino Fall 2021 RTW tuxedo that was styled with a see through sequin mesh turtleneck on the runway. Now I don’t know if Dan is exactly the see through mesh on no undershirt kind of guy, and I am leaning towards no. So I’ve been wondering what I would like to see. Part of me want’s to see Valentino create a custom black liquid sequin top to layer under it or just go with a classic white t-shirt. Both would be cool moments and I am leaning towards the white t-shirt. His black thick rimmed glasses, the runways black leather boots, and a statement vintage white diamond Harry Winston flower brooch would make this a MAJOR menswear moment for Dan to bring to this “red carpet.”Lily Collins is presenting at this years SAG Awards after helping announce this years nominees. It will be the first time Lily is partaking in a SAG Awards ceremony and I want to se her doing so in flirtatious glamour. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the bohemian glam custom Saint Laurent gown that Lily wore for the Golden Globe Awards. I know she has so much more in her. I would love to see her deliver this black and blush pink ombre asymmetrical Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 a-line cocktail length gown with an asymmetrical neck and a bow detail on the hip. It screams feminine glamour and that is what I feel like Lily serves up the best on the red carpet. While for most red carpets in and out of lockdown I don’t prefer gowns that don’t reach the floor I feel like the SAG Awards that a cocktail length gown is appropriate, especially for a presenter. I feel like with a sleek romantic updo, defined eyes, bold lips using Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick Drama Matte in Rose Lancôme, blush pink Alexander McQueen crystal ankle strap sandals, and a pair of Anabela Chan ‘Diamond Supernova’ white diamond, white sapphire, and ivory pearl chandelier earrings would make sure this look is flirty and glamorous from head to toe. Maria Bakalova was one of the new faces among the list of nominees this year and it turns out she is quite the fashionista. She has rocked some major glam moments during awards season so far with a raspberry red crystal embellished tulle Armani Prive ballgown and a black velvet Prada gown with a crystal tassel bow and I cannot wait to see what else lies in store for her over the course of awards season. I feel like custom is in her sights for the SAG Awards. Maybe Gucci or Dior. I wasn’t totally thrilled or inspired with anything that I saw, except for this white Marchesa Spring 2021 RTW orchid purple and grey hand painted floral print ball gown which features a statement crystal embellished halter neckline, open back, a-line skirt, and a sweeping train. I don’t know if Maria would wear Marchesa, but her stylist Jessica Paster would option the brand for other clients so I decided to throw caution to the wind and pick this gorgeous gown for Maria. While Marchesa still has the tainted stain of the Harvey Weinstein scandal on it I think that this moment on Maria would be perfect especially if styled with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, silver crystal embellished Giuseppe Zanotti wrap-around ankle strap sandals, and a pair of sleek and glamorous Graziela Gems ‘Navete’ white diamond wreath hoop earrings.

The 2021 SAG Awards special will broadcast on Sunday April 4, 2021. You can see all my wishes for this years show here.

2021 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

I am getting very excited for what this years Grammy Awards will be. With all the possibilities from in person presenters and performers (and hopefully some winners) to looks from nominees who aren’t able to attend in person on Instagram I am ready for FASHIONS. The Grammy’s always allows for some major fashion moments we wouldn’t see on any of the film awards red carpets during award season. So I am having a lot of fun wit my wishes for the collection as well. Billie Eilish has always had a very interesting sense of style. Last awards season she rocked Chanel, Gucci, and Burberry track suit style looks for all the red carpets she walked. I don’t want to change her, so when I was looking for something for the singer who is nominated for 4 Grammy’s including Record of the Year and Song of the Year and is also performing at this years show I turned to the Valentino Spring 2021 Couture collection. I was thinking about all the cool boxier cut and layered looks from the collection and knew that I would find a great moment for Billie to wear on this red carpet and I found it in this look which features a gold embossed brocade cocoon cape inspired sleeveless hoodie (A COUTURE HOODIE), a sleeveless light but turtleneck, sand colored pleated front trousers, and matching elbow gloves. This moment is definitely the most Billie look that was show in this collection and I really want to see her rock it for the Grammy’s red carpet. According to her Instagram Billie is still rocking that horrible acid green roots thing. I don’t think that would work with this look though. Instead I would like to see Billie give us more of something like an deep ink blue instead. To finish the look I would style the moment with defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of metallic gold Valentino Couture platform derbies. Cynthia Erivo is nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for her song “Stand Up” from Harriet. She is a consummate fashionista and so I know that had this been a regular year that she would have shown up on the Grammy’s red carpet serving a major look like she was one of the top nominated artists of the night. The fact that she is also be a part of this years post Grammy special “A Salute to the Sound of Change” would have also boded well for her being on the Grammy’s red carpet. I was going to start looking through my archives of couture runways for Cynthia, but then I saw this gold lamé button back of the shoulder peak lapel gown with an oversized drape and puffer coat backpack turned tiered train from the Paris Fashion Week presentation of the Thom Browne Fall 2021 RTW collection. There are very few stars who I think could pull a look like this off, but despite her petite frame I know that Cynthia could serve this moment up and deliver it on a red carpet and the Grammy’s would be perfect. Now for the lookbook the gown was styled with a signature black Thom Browne tuxedo on top under the gown. I would ditch that. Instead styling the gown with her signature bleached buzzed hair, smokey eyes, deep berry red glossy lips, metallic gold leather Aquazzura ‘Gin Plateau 140’ strappy platform sandals, and a statement Harry Winston white and yellow diamond collar necklace would make it a major fashion moment.Harry Style is nominated for Best Solo Pop Performance, Best Pop Album, and Best Music Video at this years Grammy Awards and I am super disappointed that the regular red carpet isn’t going to happen. Harry has been one of my men to watch on the red carpet because he isn’t afraid to blur the gender lines on the red carpet. Now that being said Harry is still performing at this years show and I hope he serves up some cool looks. I have two looks for Harry one for the red carpet and one for a performance. The red carpet look I’ve picked for Harry is a powder blue Gucci Spring 2017 Menswear shawl lapel tailcoat tuxedo which I would style a little differently than it was on the runway I would ditch the tangerine short wide tie and change the shirt. Instead I would style the look with a classic pleated tuxedo shirt, the cummerbund front he runway, a pair of navy velvet Gucci ‘New Jordaan Horsebit’ leather trimmed logo embroidered loafers, and a major white diamond and tanzanite Gucci High Jewelry heart, arrow, and floral brooch instead of a tie to really make this a cool look for Harry. For the performance, of which I don’t have any idea what it will be, I would love to see Harry hit the stage wearing this raspberry red metallic plaid silk brocade Gucci Fall 2020 Menswear 70’s inspired wide lapel suit. It is definitely something I can see Harry being drawn to and I feel like the subtle sparkle makes it a perfect stage look. Again I would switch up the styling ditching hat, shirt, and sweater from the runway in favor of a blush pink floral jacquard Gucci blouse style button down, a pair of black Gucci ‘Zahara’ silver buckle cowboy inspired ankle boots, and a Gucci ‘Hortus Delicarium’ white diamond and morganite leaf wreath and lion head necklace for a bit of sparkle. Jhene Aiko will host the Grammy Premiere ceremony, which is the party of the show that isn’t televised where they hand out all kinds of awards. In addition to that she is nominated for 3 Grammy’s herself this year including Album of the Year, Best Progressive R&B Album, & Best R&B Performance. So I am really hoping to see her deliver a superb moment on the red carpet. I went for sexy glamour inspired by Grace Jones with this black/gold sequin Rami Al Ali Spring 2021 Couture draped hooded wrap style gown with a major split in the front. I love this super glam moment and I feel like it would just ooze sexy and edgy glam, especially with tight cornrow braids, perfectly laid curled edges, defined eyes, nude glossy lips, a pair of gold and black Casadei ‘Blade Jeannie’ strappy ankle strap sandals, and a statement gold basket weave Vhernier ‘Giunco’ cuff bracelet. The last two wishes for today are for Travis Scott & Kylie Jenner. I would have loved to see the on again off again couple back on the Grammy’s red carpet together. But since he is just nominated for one Grammy this year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, I doubt we will see either of them on the red carpet either in person or virtually. If they do I would love to see them rock superb complimentary moments starting with an industrial grey Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2021 utilitarian inspired double breasted suit with a light grey turtleneck (a menswear trend this awards season), and a red silk flower boutonniere for Travis styled with a pair of black calfskin leather Dior Men ‘Dior Explorer Boot II’ oblique embossed combat boots. It’s a cool yet chic moment and I feel like it would be something that Travis would be drawn to. For Kylie I wanted glamour and sex appeal and I found it in this red one shoulder Atelier Versace Spring 2021 Couture column gown which features a structured origami petal inspired sculptural shoulder detail and a thigh high split. I am obsessed with this gown and while I wouldn’t usually waste this major moment on Kylie I know that if anyone could bring up a major IG red carpet moment it would be Kylie. Taking this gown and styling it with a sleek flip style high pony tail, defined eyes, Kylie Cosmetics ‘Lovey Dovey’ matte lips, simple red satin Versace ankle strap platform sandals, and a selection of Jacob & Co. jewels including a pair of white diamond art deco inspired chandelier earrings and a dazzling pigeon blood ruby and white diamond three row bracelet would make sure this statement look would compliment the Dior on Travis perfectly.

The 2021 Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on CBS Sunday March 14, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years red carpet here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

We are just a couple of hours away from the Golden Globes “red carpet” however that will look exactly, but before that carpet starts I have some wishes I want to put into the universe for next weekends Critics Choice Awards. We know that this years show will be much like the Globes tonight where the host and presenters are expected live, but all the nominees will join the show remotely. I just hope that people take the approach of getting dressed up to join the show from home like Zendaya and Tracee Ellis Ross did for the Emmy’s last year. I don’t want to see stars in pajamas all awards season long. It was a cute trope for the Emmy’s, but it’s one that will get real old real fast. So you aren’t going to see any pajamas here. I really can’t believe that Amanda Seyfried has been an awards season fixture for a while now, but is just now earning her first nominations. She always brings drama and glamour to the red carpet with looks that are visually interesting. I’ve kept to a very subdued color palate for Amanda so far this awards season with the Elie Saab Couture gown I picked for her to wear for the Golden Globes and the vintage Prada dress I used for my AFI Awards wish. I decided to keep that soft palate theme going with this dusty mauve Antonio Grimaldi Spring 2021 Couture strapless gown which features an asymmetrical bead embroidered neckline, a wave of ostrich feathers, and a column silhouette. I feel like Antonio Grimaldi could be a major red carpet force if the brand put the same effort into VIP PR as it does in paying the different Vogue’s around the world to feature the collections on their websites. This gown is classic yet boundary pushing all at the same time. It is all party on the top and classic on the bottom. I feel that this gown is perfect for the Critics Choice Awards where we don’t often see big couture gowns and stars take some risks. Since Amanda is nominated for the first time I wanted to make sure it was a moment befitting a nominee and I think this would be perfection. Style this gown with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, deep mauve lips, a pair of nude satin Aquazzura ‘Bow Tie’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a pair of delicate pink morganite and white diamond Tiffany & Co. gold scroll set teardrop earrings and I know that Amanda would deliver the moment I am craving. Now I know I just said that most stars give more of a simplistic look on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet, but I don’t think that Cynthia Erivo knows the definition of simple. She really is a magpie who loves to give us DRAMA and GLAMOUR. She’s been one of the stars during lockdown that has consistently shown up and shown out with major fashion moments. So should we see her during the Critics Choice Awards telecast, where she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, I want to see her bring that same vibe to the stage or screen. I turned to the archives of Vera Wang to pull out this black strapless gown from the brands Spring 2016 Bridal collection which features a built in bustier, tummy cutout, dramatic ostrich feather skirt, a thigh high split, and a long train to find that moment. It is a perfect balance of sexy, glamour, modernity, and drama and I know that Cynthia would be a perfect person to bring this look out of the archive. Her signature bleach blonde shaved head, defined smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Wildcat Black Panther’ minaudiere, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Mini Broche Vivier’ crystal buckle peep toe platform sandals with a crystal embellished clear lucite chunky heel, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection fringe choker would make sure that Cynthia is delivered that dramatic glamour from head to toe. I almost changed my wish for Dan Levy to wear for the Critics Choice Awards this morning after seeing a major piece of Boucheron jewelry I want him to wear, but I decided I’m going to hold onto that for a future wish. I went for a really wild and statement making menswear moment for Dan to wear for the Critics Choice Awards red carpet next weekend. I saw this black, gold, and green leaf print Libertine Fall 2021 RTW tuxedo during New York Fashion Week: Digital and fell in love with it. I would definitely add this to my personal wardrobe and I think that Dan could really bring this look to the Critics Choice Awards. Should we have to work with Dan Zooming into the show to most likely collect his Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series trophy I feel like this look would POP on the screen. I think that styling this suit with the white shirt and big bow tie from the lookbook adding thick black frame glasses and a pair of black velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Marpyramide’ loafers with gold square studs on the heels would put this look together perfectly. Jurnee Smollett Bell is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series and I really want to see what she will bring to the red carpet. Having looked at some of her past red carpet looks I know that she could bring some really major drama and avant garde moments to the red carpet. I’ve included her in some of my posts for events where her show Lovecraft Country has been nominated or honored. I did a bold ADEAM suit for the AFI Awards and a LBV gown for the Globes, but for the Critics Choice where she is actually nominated I wanted a true major glamour moment. I knew immediately as I was putting this list together that I wanted to use this intricately black beaded Nicholas Jebran Fall 2020 Couture gown which features a strapless structured bustier, dramatic plunging sweetheart neckline, portrait sleeves, defined waist, wrap style column skirt, and a super sexy thigh high split was what I wanted to use to give Jurnee a major glamour moment. I would make sure this look screams glamour from head to toe styling it with a sleek avant garde retro inspired updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Jewel Queen 100’ ankle strap and crystal embellished bow detailed sandals, and a statement Bayco ‘Magnificent’ collection collar necklace featuring 31.76 carats of Colombian emeralds and 74.09 carats of white diamonds. Finishing out today’s wishes is the always beautiful Tessa Thompson. I always love seeing Tessa get dressed up. She has served up looks while promoting projects like Passing and Sylvie’s Love in lockdown. The latter is where she earns her Critics Choice Award nomination this year. I was surprised that Amazon Studios decided to run Sylvie’s Love in the Television category instead of film, but it gave Tessa her only nomination this awards season. So with that in mind I wanted to pick something superb for her to wear for the Critics Choice Awards “red carpet” this year. I was in my couture archives and when I saw this silver and gold stretch Schiaparelli Spring 2021 Couture long sleeve gown which features a high neck, fitted silhouette, and over 100,00 Swarovski crystals covering the entire body I knew it was perfect for Tessa. I can just imagine how the stretch fit of this couture gown would hug all of Tessa’s curves and I know that she would work it from head to toe. To make this major moment even more major I would add a bun of braids, defined eyes, deep mauve matte lips, a pair of gold Tom Ford ‘Padlock’ metallic leather ankle strap sandals, a selection of major Mateo New York jewels including 14k gold set ‘Sunset’ citrine and white diamond geometric drop earrings, 14k gold set citrine and white diamond ‘Point of Focus’ coil ring, an ‘East West’ chunky citrine cocktail ring, a geometric 14k gold set white diamond ‘The Gift’ ring, and a 14k gold set ‘Secret Diamond Initial’ crystal quartz ring with a T initial halo set in white diamonds.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 12

Well after my quick two day break for Palm Springs Film Festival Awards wishes I am back to tie up all my wishes for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards. This years show will go live from (at least) two locations on both coasts of the United States this weekend and I cannot wait. I won’t lie with these wishes I feel like I’ve set myself up for failure really going for bold glamorous looks for the stars nominated even though they won’t be appearing live at any of the events. Well, today we are going to talk all about presenters who have been asked to appear live and in person at either the Beverly Hilton in LA, where Amy Poehler will be co-hosting from, or the Rainbow Room in New York City, where Tina Fey will be holding down her hosting duties. I will say this the stars who will be presenting live better bring all the glamour to life and make sure that my craving for drama and moments is satiated. Let’s kick things off with Awkwafina. I’ve enjoyed watching her style grow since she burst onto the scene thanks to her role in Crazy Rich Asians. I’ve really enjoyed her recent lockdown glam promo tour for Raya and the Last Dragon where she’s rocked looks from Dior, Versace, Miu Miu, Celine, Chanel, and Moschino in recent weeks. I want to see Awkwafina bring a super glamorous moment to the stage at the Golden Globe Awards picking this rose pink Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture one shoulder pleated chiffon gown with a cape and a flowing a-line silhouette. While I might not be the biggest fan of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior I do love this soft feminine moment and I definitely can imagine it being phenomenal moment on Awkwafina. To make this moment red carpet ready I would love to see her styling this gown with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, gold Francesco Russo ‘Hill’ lace up ankle strap sandals, and a pair of yellow gold Buccellati ‘Rete’ chandelier earrings with pearls.I always love seeing Catherine Zeta Jones on the red carpet so when I saw her name announced as a presenter this year I was THRILLED. She knows how to give sophisticated and sexy glamour on the red carpet without looking like she is trying. I was actually in the midst of picking an Elie Saab Couture gown for Cynthia Erivo when the announcement about Catherine came. I immediately dropped that idea in favor of putting Catherine in a gown from the Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture collection. I saw this one shoulder silver gown with a single cape sleeve, intricate crystal embroidery, and a sheer skirt and it was seared in my mind. As I read Catherine’s name I knew it was the perfect option for her to bring to the stage at this years Golden Globe Awards. Styling this gown with a sleek high bun updo, defined eyes, light rose pink lips, silver glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Max 150’ peep toe ankle strap sandals, and a selection of dazzling Lorraine Schwartz jewels including 60 carats of white diamonds in three stone drop earrings, a white diamond coil ring, and a white diamond halo set three stone ring would make sure this look screams glamour from head to toe. As I said above I was thinking about an Elie Saab Couture gown for Cynthia Erivo to wear as a presenter this weekend at the Golden Globe Awards. I was loving the drama, but when I changed courses and went with Catherine in Saab I needed to go back to the drawing board for Cynthia. Immediately I went to Christopher John Rogers for a dramatic moment. I thought about Cynthia giving us an 80’s inspired glam moment in this fuschia strapless crinkle pleated taffeta strapless gown from the Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 RTW collection with an asymmetric tea length tulip skirt, thigh high split, and a dramatic train and fell in love. This gown is a risk because it is all the things about the 80’s we usually hate, but I feel like if anyone could sell it to me it would be Cynthia. She knows how to take risk and make them work as well as own a really dramatic moment so I just believe this look would be perfect. Now as I was thinking about how to style this gown I kept thinking about styling this gown with turquoise jewelry and I found the perfect suite to compliment it via a white diamond trimmed turquoise Van Cleef & Arpels drop earrings, collar necklace, and bracelet set from the 1970’s. Her signature shaved head, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, and a pair of matching fuschia satin Christian Louboutin strappy platform sandals would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Cynthia. There was a time a couple of years ago where Kyra Sedgewick was turning out looks from brands like Emilio Pucci, Reed Krakoff, Zac Posen, Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Armani Prive, L’Wren Scott, and Oscar de la Renta all of whom were it designers of the moment. She is currently staring in the ABC comedy Call Your Mother and is confirmed to be one of the presenters this weekend. I would love to see Kyra give us dazzling glamour Sunday night and I think that this gold sequin Pamella Roland Pre-Fall 2021 caped cap sleeve column gown with an open back and a back vent would give us just that. It would be brought together perfectly with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, gold Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ pointed toe pumps, and Sutra ‘Tassel’ collection rose gold set champagne diamond chandelier earrings. Rounding out today is This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson. She has a bold sense of style and I am always rooting for her to succeed, but unfortunately it just hasn’t worked for me yet. With so much pressure for the presenters at this years Golden Globe Awards I really want to see Susan give us a major fashion moment. I went for something I feel like I wouldn’t normally pick for the Globes red carpet when I picked this black and gold sequin chevron Morphew Collection backless disco gown which features a halter neckline, plunging keyhole neckline, and a thigh high split but it just worked for me. This is a one of a kind gown made for vintage retailer Morphew out of vintage sequined fabric from the 1970’s and so it has legs in up-cycled sustainability. Now with the right styling I definitely feel like this edgy and super sexy glam moment would be perfect for Susan to bring to life for the Globes. A sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, deep red glossy lips, a black satin Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ crystal clasp clutch, a pair of black and gold Jimmy Choo ‘Lilah 120’ strappy sandals, and statement 18k gold set Fernando Jorge ‘Disco’ white diamond earrings would definitely make this look a major modern disco glam moment.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years event here.

Fall 2020 Couture Round Up Red Carpet Wish List

Couture this season was VERY different. We saw designers tackle moving presentation digitally in vastly different ways. Dior did a short video editorial and showcased petite mains work on miniatures. Hobeika recorded a show without an audience from his home in Lebanon. Ralph & Russo showed a mix of in person shot lookbook, a digital spokesmodel, and sketches. And most showed smaller paired down collections shot in lookbooks. I would love to see many of these looks on the red carpet so I am hoping that we start seeing red carpets return soon. Two seasons worth of looks are already headed to the archives without being worn. So check out the 61 wishes below I would love to see brought to life on the red carpet from the Fall 2020 Couture collections.

2020 BET Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

Today we finish out my 2020 BET Awards wishes with three wishes for three stars with very different and distinct style. Had there been a major red carpet for the BET Awards I know that the three stars in today’s wishes would have definitely bring the drama and glamour to the red carpet. I am hoping that in the coming weeks and months we will start to get back to red carpet events, but until then I will continue to talk about what could have been. So let’s get into it. I love me some Billy Porter. The Queer actor brings the glamour to the red carpet. He takes risks and blurs the lines between menswear and womenswear. I am still imagining myself wearing the white Alex Vinash feathered tuxedo that Billy wore for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year for my own wedding. So I turned to a designer who loves blurring the lines of gender, sexuality, and race: Prabal Gurung. As I was on the hunt for the perfect look for Billy to wear for the BET Awards I immediately fell in love with this white and black Prabal Gurung Fall 2020 RTW tailored tuxedo which features an asymmetrically color blocked jacket with a gold button detail and a pair of slouchy pintuck straight leg pants. I definitely think this look could be super effortless and majorly glamorous on Billy. It isn’t the big drama filled gowns or coats he tends to favor, but it gives us disco Saturday Night Fever elegance. Now I would want to see Billy really go for it with the styling adding a black Stefano Ricci crystal-tipped silk formal shirt worn with a button or two undone, a black feather embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ crystal trimmed clutch, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Night on the Nile’ crystal embellished and velvet loafers, and a DRAMATIC Philip Treacy black and white wide brimmed fedora style hat. It would all make a major moment come to together perfectly. Cynthia Erivo delivered all kinds of major looks over the course of awards season. From big ball gowns or simpler silhouettes done perfectly I was ALWAYS looking forward to seeing what she was going to bring to the red carpet. So I wanted to make sure that I included a major moment for what I would have wanted to see Cynthia bring to life on the red carpet. Enter this red jersey Balenciaga Fall 2020 RTW draped gown which features gloved sleeves as thigh high split, and a sweeping train. I went back and forth on picking this look for Cynthia because I don’t think that she would be able to pull off the look with the matching tight boots that the look was styled with on the runway and I wasn’t sure I would have liked to see the gown without the boots. The more and more I thought about it I think that customizing the gown so it had a bodysuit so there could still be a lot of leg shown and styling the look with her signature bleach blonde shaved hairstyle, defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, a red crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of red stretch mesh Balenciaga pointed toe pumps, and statement David Webb geometric hoop ruby and white diamond drop earrings would definitely make this a major moment for Cynthia to bring to life. 16 year old actress Storm Reid has definitely made a name for her self in the world of high fashion. She opened the Miu Miu Fall 2020 RTW show back in March and has rocked red carpets around the world in some of the most coveted fashion brands including Coach, Iris Van Herpen, Viktor & Rolf, Simone Rocha, & Etro. I cannot wait to continue seeing what the future has in store for her. So I would love to see Storm give us cocktail drama wearing this black Balmain Fall 2020 RTW strapless ruffled crepe midi dress which features a cropped bustier bodice with a sweetheart neckline and a tulip shaped skirt. The look is sexy and glamorous yet incredibly age appropriate for Storm, especially with the right styling. A chic fishtail plaited braid, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pointed toe pumps, and a statement Vhernier ‘Calla’ ebony and 18k rose gold link necklace would definitely have made this look a major glam fashion moment for Storm.

Check out Part 1 of my 2020 BET Awards wishes here, Part 2 here, and Part 3 here. The virtual BET Awards will take place on Sunday June 28, 2020 at 8pm on BET, BET Her, & CBS.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

A rumor came out yesterday that Vogue Magazine and the Metropolitan Museum of Art have come up with a plan to open the “About Time: Fashion and Duration” at the museum in mid-October, but the timing of the Met Gala is still “under discussions.” I was really hoping this was going to be the first major cultural event in New York City to help the city move on from all of the crazy it has been under since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak. When the October date came out I really contemplated giving up on my wishes. All of the looks in these wishes will be out of date by then. We will have a whole new season of couture and ready-to-wear collections. But ultimately I decided that with a lack of events to actually write about right now that why not just put the fantasy out there. As Anna Wintour has said “I think if we don’t have fantasy in fashion, then fashion will never change.” So let’s keep fantasy going. Louis Vuitton is a presenting sponsor of the “About Time: Fashion and Duration” exhibition and with the brands creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere as one of the co-hosts of this years event I am sure that we will be seeing a whole slew of looks from the brand on the red carpet. Alicia Vikander has been one of the few only really successful brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton. It would shock me if Alicia wore anyone other than Louis on this red carpet. Picking looks from the latest Louis Vuitton collection that could be Met Gala ready was really difficult. Ghesquiere didn’t send a single gown down the runway, so it was left to my imagination to create gowns based on the looks presented. I was very much drawn to this black reptile skin like paillette fabrication and definitely want to see Nicolas play with the idea for a custom gown for Alicia. I would use this fabrication to create a strapless bustier column gown using the intricate gold embroidery from the neckline of the sheer yoke of the runway look on the neckline of the gown. Keeping the runways leather belt, adding a sweeping train (though LV isn’t really known for putting trains on gowns), a pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Madeleine’ platform crystal embellished logo buckle sandals, and a statement vintage Bulgari white diamond and emerald drop collar necklace would definitely make this a super successful Louis Vuitton moment on the red carpet. Cynthia Erivo always serves a major moment on the red carpet. It was actually on the Met Gala red carpet several years ago wearing a custom Coach gown where I first took note of Cynthia’s style. Watching her fashion evolution has been fantastic and I am praying to see her on the Met red carpet this year. When I was looking for the perfect person to wear this black and white Marc Jacobs Fall 2020 RTW ensemble I went back and forth on who I most wanted to see bring it to life. I went back and forth between picking this look for Cynthia and Lady Gaga, ultimately it was the fact that Gaga postponed her album release in this time of need for creative escape that I decided to pick it for Cynthia. Each woman would wear this gown differently, but I know in my soul that Cynthia would work this gown to its maximum potential. Cynthia knows how to handle drama and while this gown black velvet cap sleeve column gown isn’t dramatic the black and white ruffled silk-organza cape is. I could definitely picture Cynthia wearing this ensemble with her signature silver buzzed hair, smokey eyes, red glossy lips, a pair of black Rene Caovilla pointed toe pumps with silver crystal embellished crisscross straps, and statement David Webb ‘Asheville’ earrings set in 18K gold and platinum and features pear-shaped sapphires, circular-cut chrome tourmalines, pear-shaped cabochon turquoise, brilliant-cut diamonds, suspending oval and heart-shaped sapphire drops.Irina Shayk has never wowed me on the Met Gala red carpet. I know she has potential because she has owned red carpets all over the world with dramatic moments. She walked many runways this season, but the one that really stood out to me when I was picking Met Gala looks was Brandon Maxwell. While I hadn’t picked the gown she modeled to be on this red carpet I knew that she would be the perfect person to wear this ivory ensemble from the Brandon Maxwell Fall 2020 RTW ensemble which features a strapless cropped bralet bodice, a high waisted satin ball skirt, a sweeping train, and a silk chiffon tie-neck cape. The look is the definition of classic meet modern glamour. I really can imagine that Irina would definitely ensure this look oozes sex appeal, which definitely isn’t hard for her. Finishing this look with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of ivory glitter Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ PVC and crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, and a pop of color via de Grisogono amethyst, tanzanite, and white diamond earclips would definitely make this look her best Met Gala moment ever. I’m honestly surprised that Madeline Brewer wasn’t invited to the Met Gala last year. The redheaded Handmaid’s Tale actress knows how to deliver chic fashion moments from coveted fashion labels like Brock Collection and Monse. So as I was looking for the perfect person to wear this powder blue Monique Lhuillier Fall 2020 RTW high low sleeveless gown which features a slim fit bodice, drop-waist silhouette, feather-lined hem, boat neckline, pleated skirt, and a dramatic train I turned to Madeline who was recently dressed my Monique Lhuillier for the 2020 SAG Awards. Now the train the gown was presented with in the lookbook is definitely dramatic enough for the Met Gala, but I would love to see it lengthened even more to really bring the drama. This look does bring the 60’s glamour vibes and I would definitely keep the vibes going with the styling with a sleek 60’s inspired updo, winged eyes, punchy pink lips, a silver Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ silver snakeskin clutch with a crystal embellished clasp, a pair of nude satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Skysan’ crystal embellished mule sandals, and a selection of Butani diamonds including a pair of feathered cluster earrings with teardrops and a wreath band ring.I was so disappointed with the Moschino moment that Sarah Paulson wore on the Met Gala red carpet last year, so I am really excited to see what she might bring to the same steps this year. I would love to see her take a fashion risk giving this navy origami draped Loewe Fall 2020 RTW cap sleeve dress which features a white leather panel studded with rounded brass studs, but lengthened into a floor length gown. There are not many people who would be able to sell this look to me on the red carpet and I definitely believe that Sarah has the right effortless quirk to really make this look come to life. A side parted sleek bob tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a navy satin Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, ivory Loewe ‘Flower’ kitten heel pearl embellished pointed toe pumps, and dazzling faceted lapis, sapphire, and white diamond Irene Neuwirth chandelier earrings would definitely ensure that this look screams elegant drama.

Milan Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List

As they say fashion week stops for nothing. Well this season the Coronavirus tried to shut down the bi-annual Milan Fashion Week, and only partially succeeded. While the theaters on the final day of Milan Fashion Week might have been devoid of the usual guests of editors, buyers, celebrities, and influencers the shows still went on with those aforementioned people watching the collections come down the runway via a livestream from their hotel rooms. Overall I feel like while in shear number I was disappointed in the offerings that came out of Milan, but overall the quality of moment far exceeded both New York and London. In my wishes below you will find some absolutely major wishes for which I am now sending major positive energy out into the universe to manifest the red carpet moments and keep be excited about fashion. After loosing inspiration towards the end of last year and a mostly lackluster and rushed awards season the looks below give me hope that this year will have major glamour moments in store for us.

London Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List

Well fashion month is officially over, so I guess it is time to recap with some of my favorite looks from the collections. Today I wishes for 64 looks that walked the runways during London Fashion Week. We didn’t see quite as many potential red carpet moments, or anywhere near as many shows, during London Fashion Week that we did from New York, but the looks definitely have me super excited to see what the next several months are going to bring. There are looks in this wish list perfect for galas, movie premieres, press events, music award shows, the Met Gala, the Cannes Film Festival and beyond. I went through these collections to share looks for friends of the brands as well as people who immediately shot mind when I saw the looks walk the runway.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

So in a post Oscar haze it has taken a while to really soak in all of the collections and pick some superb wishes for stars to bring to life. As I pull images from the shows starts always pop through my mind. There were so many great looks that came out of New York Fashion Week this season I decided to break my wishes up into several parts (probably about 3) so the posts didn’t feel super, super long. So many looks in this list will be perfect not only for the red carpet, but also great late night show appearance looks and great street style moments. I don’t even know which of the looks below I love the most.
