I cannot wait to see how the Grammy Awards go off this weekend. So far in the midst of the socially distanced the Music Awards shows have done the best feeling “normal”. While some went expected with the regular set up in an empty arena while others went for more virtual continuity with green screen set stages. The Grammy Awards are expected to have multiple stages set up in and around the Staples Center complex where a major list of performers are set to showcase. I am really excited to see what the show will bring. So over the next several days you are going to see wishes for those nominated, performing, and presenting at this years show. I’m crossing my fingers for major things. 
Kicking things off today is this years most nominated artist Beyonce who has 9 nominations thanks to her Black is King visual album including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Despite all of those nominations she is not one of the performers this year and I highly doubt we will see her get all dressed up for any sort of live acceptance speech should she win any of those 9 awards. When I was picking looks for the Grammy’s back before they postponed their date I picked this major glamour look which features a sheer Ese Azenabor Couture column gown which features long sleeves, intricate beading, and a plunging neckline which I wanted to style with the major black and white fur stole from the Georges Hobeika Fall 2020 Couture collection. I really wanted to see Beyonce support a young up and coming designer I found through her stylist Zerina Akers @BlackOwnedEverything she started after sourcing items from black labels (in addition to a lot more) for the Black Is King visual album. I thought this gown with that stole would give major old Hollywood vibes with a sleek rose twist retro inspired updo, thick winged eyes, bold red Pat McGrath Labs ‘Elson 2’ bold red matte lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Double L 100’ patent leather & mesh strappy pointed toe pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels including statement drop earrings made up of white diamond halo set Colombian emeralds and a selection of major white diamond rings. It would easily be one of my favorite Beyonce looks in a really long, long time. Especially a red carpet look. 
I had so many ideas for what to pick for Dua Lipa to wear for the Grammy Awards. I was originally going to go down the route of vintage Thierry Mugler Couture, but then Kim Jones made his debut as the creative director at Fendi. The moment I saw this ivory sheer pearl embellished caped column gown with a halterneck bodysuit and a dramatic train it spoke to me. It was a really cool moment that gives me regal vibes as well as rock and roll glamour. I feel like it would definitely be something that Dua would be drawn to and since she is on the list of performers in addition to being nominated for six Grammy’s including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. Her music helped get me through lockdown and I would love to see her walk away with a couple of those golden gramophones as a consolation prize. A sleek updo embellished with a Mikimoto ‘Splash’ akoya pearl and white diamond brooch, defined eyes, glossy mauve lips, a pair of metallic champagne nude Christian Louboutin ‘Mariacar’ crisscross mesh platform sandals, and Mikimoto ‘Bubbles’ akoya pearl and white diamond cluster earrings would turn this look into the perfect glamour moment for Dua to bring to the Grammy’s this year. 
H.E.R. has been making the rounds this awards season with nominations at both the Golden Globe Awards and the Critics Choice Awards. Her next stop would be the Grammy’s in a normal year. She is nominated for 3 Grammy’s including Song of the Year and two Best R&B nods. She gave us more casual cool in Valentino Couture look at the Globes and a major floral beaded brocade custom Miu Miu suit for the Critics Choice Awards after wearing neon trimmed Vera Wang Chinese inspired pants looks for the Emmy’s last year. She isn’t performing, but I would still love to see her serve a major drama glam moment wearing this peach rosé avant garde ruffled Elie Saab Spring 2021 RTW column gown which features a 3/4 length cape bodice, intricate crystal embellishment, a thigh high split, and a dramatic train. It isn’t like anything else we’ve seen H.E.R. wear. She goes for more of that left of “expected” glamour for the red carpet, but I feel like this could be a really cool moment especially if it was styled with an intricate cornrow braided bun updo, defined eyes behind orange Gentle Monster ‘Chakra’ gold-toned metal cat-eye sunglasses, glossy nude lips, a pair of metallic orange Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Catia’ strappy sandals, and glamorous A & Furst ‘Bouquet’ rose-cut rose de France, citrine, pink tourmaline, and madera citrine cluster earrings.
Megan Thee Stallion has been getting better and better with her red carpets lately. So when I saw that the rapper who is nominated for FOUR Grammy’s including Record of the Year and Best New Artist was going to be performing this year I wanted to make sure I was giving a major fashion moment. I went through all sorts of ideas when I was thinking about what the perfect look would be for Megan I went through a couple of ideas, but I thought about going the custom route going off the rack and picking this bronze Gucci long sleeve gown with a choker detail on the neck, a metallic sheen, a straight fit, a long length, a rear central vent and a chainmail-style construction as the inspiration. How I would customize this look for Megan would be to add a dramatic train and moving the rear vent to become a right side split to really make this a superb fashion moment for the Grammy’s red carpet. It would be edgy, glamorous, and sexy which are all adjectives I would use to describe Megan. I would style this gown with a major high afro bubble puff ponytail, smokey eyes, deep glossy burgundy lips, major black ankle strap Casadei fishnet mesh peep toe platform pumps, and a selection of major Sutra jewels including 18k blackened gold 3 row emerald hoop earrings and a ‘High Emerald’ 18k blackened gold set emerald and white diamond cocktail ring to make sure that Megan is serving a MAJOR moment from head to toe. 
Finishing off today is the beautiful Taylor Swift who is nominated for six Grammy’s and will be performing this weekend so I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet. Despite multiple nominations since Taylor hasn’t attended a Grammy’s ceremony since 2016 when she won several for her album 1989. So I am really interested to see what she will bring this year. When she dropped Folklore and Evermore last year Taylor seemed to ignite the Cottagecore trend, and a refound love of cardigans. I’ve wanted to see what this would bring in terms of red carpet style, but Taylor has skipped pretty much all of the music awards shows during the pandemic. When I was thinking of something that I feel would fit the vibe of her recent albums, but still give us red carpet I was having a hard time coming up with the right pick. Then I watched the Valentino Spring 2021 Couture show and I immediately fell in love with this light grey slip style gown with a dramatic train paired with a copper brown knit sweater vest that was worn asymmetrically on the runway and I would keep it that way for Swiftie. Finishing out the look with a soft romantic updo, defined eyes, her signature bold red lips, gold metallic leather Aquazzura ‘Celeste’ platform crystal rope knot detailed platform ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Irene Neuwirth jewels including one of a kind ‘Tropical Flower Triple’ drop earrings made of carved mixed tourmaline, a one of a kind three stone ‘Gemmy Gem’ pink tourmaline & white diamond ring, and a one of a kind ‘Tropical Flower Triple’ carved pink tourmaline and sapphire ring would give this look is a major cottagecore glamour moment.

It is a major glam moment that I feel is a perfect bridge moment for Ari. It is sexy yet a frothy voluminous look. I don’t know anything about Gabby Barrett’s style aside from the seafoam Talbot Runhof caped gown she wore for the CMA Awards last week. We got to know Gabby as she made it to third place on American Idol Season. I’ve always said that the runners up do better than the winners from American Idol. Gabby finds herself nominated for Favorite Female Artist – Country at this years American Music Awards alongside country hit-makers Miranda Lambert & Maren Morris. After that chic caped moment I decided that I wanted to put some wish energy out into the universe for her to wear on this red carpet if she makes the jaunt to Hollywood. I LOVE this 
Maluma will be performing “Pa’ Ti + Lonely” with JLo from the soundtrack of their upcoming film, Marry Me. When it comes to fashion Maluma knows how to bring some high fashion moments to the red carpet. Now that being said he wore a cartoonish look he wore for the EMA’s earlier this month was not one of his finer moments. I would love to see him redeem himself at the VMA’s wearing this baby pink Versace Spring 2021 RTW oversized tuxedo which features which features a crystal starfish boutonniere, tank top undershirt, and a tonal pink belt in lieu of a cummerbund. I love this suit and white I would love a more tailored version for myself I can definitely picture the whole thing as presented on Maluma. The look is cool so I would love to see this look styled with a pair of 
Finishing out today are some looks I really grappled with. Regular readers will know that since the whole China debacle I have pretty much made If I Was A Stylist a Dolce & Gabbana free zone. I don’t respect the brand anymore. But that being said, the brand got a new VIP PR guy earlier this year and they have made a huge resurgence on the red carpet. So it is inevitable that we will see Dolce on the red carpet. I will never go immediately to a look from Dolce, but when I haven’t felt the spark click with anything else I will look at looks from the Italian fashion house. That is what happened when I was looking at looks for Favorite Female Artist – Latin nominee Rosalia. I don’t know if we will even see her on this red carpet, but if we do I think she would look phenomenal wearing this deep rose red Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Fall 2020 red chiffon gown which featured a corseted bodice, thick straps, bodysuit, a hip high split, and a dramatic train. It is a super glamorous and sexy moment and I feel like it would definitely let Rosalia deliver a major confident glam moment. I had only heard of Addison Rae as a Tik Tok personality before she presented at the Billboard Music Awards last month wearing a full Valentino Fall 2020 RTW ensemble. I don’t know anything about her style, but I feel like she will bring some sort of chic look. I was looking at the Fall 2020 RTW collections and when I saw this pale butter yellow Lanvin Fall 2020 RTW skater style mini dress which features a scoop neckline, crystal embellishments on the straps, and an a-line skirt I thought it was the perfect look for Addison. It is chic and flirty moment and I feel it could help continue to push her into the fashion girl territory. Now I feel she rocked the Valentino gloves at the Billboard Awards as a nod to COVID safety precautions so she could definitely rock the ivory ones that the Lanvin dress was styled with on the runway. I feel like it’s been a while since we’ve seen Bebe Rexha, but she recently presented at the MTV EMA’s where she debuted some bold crayola red hair and she is going to present at the People’s Choice Awards tomorrow night. I have to say I hate the hair on her. The only person, in my opinion, to make this hair color work was Rihanna back in the early days of LOUD. I want to minimize the color so I went for a look for Bebe that I think fits her aesthetic (even though she doesn’t really have one) picking this 
Chloe x Halle are amongst the only performers (along with Justin Beiber) who are currently announced for the People’s Choice Awards. All of their performances at events since the pandemic hit have been studio recorded and played during the live show. I am hoping that we see the R&B superstar sisters take to the stage in person at the PCA’s tomorrow night. I have long been a fan of their style. They know how to rock some major FASHION. I would love to see them rock a new brand I’ve discovered thanks to Vogue Runway called Annakiki whose Spring 2021 RTW was all about taking intergalactic meets streetwear drama. I would love to see Halle wear the black sequined mini dress with pink 3D floral embroidered shoulder and for Chloe to wear the avant garde cropped interpretation of a white button down with high waisted black trousers. Dua Lipa is the only person on this list who isn’t confirmed to attend the 2020 People’s Choice Awards tomorrow. I have really enjoyed seeing Dua continue to grow in her style choices. I am really hoping that if she steps out tomorrow night I would love to see Dua give us edgy glam wearing this Balenciaga Spring 2021 RTW ensemble which features a black sleeveless bodysuit with built in stiletto boots overlaid with a silver chain link mesh floor length tunic. This look is industrial glam defined and I definitely feel like it would be something Dua would be able to bring to life on the red carpet. She has lost the two toned blonde and black 90’s grunge hair coloring that she was sporting at the end of last year into this year and is back to straight black locks. Thank god. Finishing out today’s wish is the gorgeous Jameela Jamil who is nominated and presenting at tomorrow nights awards show. I go back and forth with Jameela and her style. I know she has potential but I don’t like the fit of many of her looks. So I went to one of the brands known for their fit with this emerald green velvet Vivienne Westwood Fall 2020 RTW mini dress which features strong shoulders, sweetheart neckline, corseted waist, long sleeves, and a draped mini length skirt. First I was drawn to the color of this dress for Jameela. It is a little shorter and sexier than we are used to seeing her wear, but I think that if Westwood would lengthen the look to hit mid thigh that this look would be a game changer when it comes to Jameela’s style. I would love to see her banged hair styled in a sleek high ponytail adding defined eyes, bold deep red lips, 
Rain on Me has lead Ariana Grande (and of course Queen Gaga) to the most VMA nominations this year. They will also be performing at this years ceremony. We haven’t seen them able to get out and perform this song before so I am really excited to see what will come. When Lady Gaga is announced as a guest at any event she automatically becomes the person I am most excited to see. I feel like I never know what she will bring to life on the red carpet. It was really just over a year ago when Cardi B wore 3 archive couture Thierry Mugler looks for the Grammy Awards that we started seeing more and more archive Mugler moments on the red carpet. At last years Met Gala it was Kim Kardashian who blessed the red carpet wearing archive Mugler. This year I thought that after Dua Lipa snatched a look right off the Mugler Fall 2020 RTW runway for the Global Awards that she would be the perfect person to bring an archive moment from the label to the Met Gala red carpet this year. I found this pearlescent white strapless ballgown from the Thierry Mugler Fall 1999 Couture collection which features a fitted pencil gown, pointed hips, and a dramatic bustle train and fell in love. I was looking for something gorgeous for Dua and this gown which to me hearkens to the hay day of the New Look, but in space seemed to click perfectly. It is the best of classic glamour mixed with the best of the Mugler aesthetic. I only picked two Michael Kors looks for this years Met Gala red carpet. The first was the customized Fall 2020 gown I picked for Hilary Swank. The second is diving into the Michael Kors archives for Naomie Harris. Over the years Naomie has worn several Michael Kors moments on various red carpets like the BAFTA Awards and a premiere of Spectre. As I was looking at archive Michael Kors collection I found this white crystal embellished halter gown from the Michael Kors Fall 2005 RTW collection. I knew it would be a gorgeous moment for Naomie to wear on this red carpet. Super elegant and glamorous. Now as presented the gown is gorgeous, but I would love to see Michael customize this archive moment for Naomie so that it has a really long dramatic train. Ralph didn’t get to present his Fall 2020 collection because of the COVID-19 crisis, but with an illustrious archive full of glam gowns I was able to make sure he was included. I saw this halter neck white silk charmuse halter gown from the Ralph Lauren Fall 2005 RTW collection (apparently a good season for white gowns) and knew that it was the perfect gown for the Met Gala. Now I went through many options of stars to wear it on the red carpet, but as soon as I thought of this gown on Olivia Munn I knew it was the perfect fit. The gown on Olivia would definite ooze sophisticated, sensual elegance. Styling the gown with old Hollywood waves, smokey eyes, nude pink lips, a 
Ariana Grande is nominated for six awards this weekend and I am hoping that we finally see her take to a red carpet for the first time in almost a year this weekend. I honestly knew exactly what look I wanted to see the 26 year old sugary sweet songstress to bring to life on this red carpet on Sunday night. I have thought that this white, powder pink, and black Celia Kritharioti Fall 2019 Couture feathered high low gown would be such a perfect moment for Ari since it first came down the Parisian runway back in July. We are definitely used to seeing Ariana give us uber flirty feminine moments on the red carpet so I really think that this moment could work. I think this look is the perfect balance of chic femininity and DRAMA for Ariana to deliver on the American Music Awards red carpet. I would love to see Ariana change up her signature high ponytail hairstyle for a big bun updo, but I don’t think that will happen and I do think that her signature style would still work very well with this gown. Cardi B could finish out a major 2019 by taking home two American Music Awards home this weekend. It was really at last years AMA’s that I fell in love with Cardi’s sense of style. She really blossomed on this red carpet last year wearing a major floral Dolce & Gabbana (ew in retrospect) gown and matching headwrap. This year I want Cardi to deliver femme fatale Hollywood glamour wearing this silver fully beaded Yousef Al-Jasmi Fall 2019 Couture wrap style gown which features a plunging wide v-neckline, dramatic cape sleeves, and a high center split. Dua Lipa is also on my Best Dressed of the Year short list currently thanks to the amazing red Valentino Couture gown that she wore for the amfAR Gala in Cannes earlier this year. Aside from that moment I was lacking major drama moment from Dua this year. That comes on the heels of her major drama moments in Giambattista Valli Couture last year. I decided that I was going to turn back to the French Haute Couturier for the look I most wanted to see Dua, who is performing at the AMA’s this weekend, bring to life on the red carpet. This bold hot pink strapless Giambattista Valli Fall 2019 Couture feathered mini dress which features a sash draped waist that trails into a dramatic chiffon train was one of my favorite looks that was presented during the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Fall 2019 back in July and I have been waiting for someone to wear it. I feel like this is a dress perfect for a party, premiere, or well a music awards since it doesn’t really scream “Hollywood” to me as much as it screams “Party.” I believe that Dua would bring this dress to life. She has that modelesque stature that I believe is needed to really bring this look to life. Now that being said I HATE her two tones hair. I would like her to choose if she wants dark hair or blonde hair and stick with it. Coming off the news yesterday that she is the one with the most 2020 Grammy Award nominations I am expecting Lizzo to definitely be 100% that bitch and deliver a superbly major moment on the red carpet at the American Music Awards as she really begins her campaign to take home several Grammy’s in January. She has owned red carpets this year wearing Moschino, Marc Jacobs, and Christopher John Rogers for the biggest red carpets. As I was on the hunt for the perfect look for Lizzo to bring to life on the American Music Awards red carpet I found this seafoam green and black Christian Siriano Spring 2020 RTW cold-shoulder tulle bustier gown which features boned bodice, defined hips, column skirt, and overall sheer construction on the runway of the designers re-show during Paris Fashion Week. When originally presented at New York Fashion Week this gown was presented in all black, but I think that the seafoam tulle on the shoulders/neckline and skirt make this look like less of a costume, and more of a high fashion moment. I see this gown as Siriano does Thierry Mugler. Now I know that Lizzo has the personality and the confidence to really bring this look to life especially if styled with a 60’s inspired updo, smokey eyes, 
Selena Gomez will be performing her songs “Lose You To Love Me” and “Look At Her Now” at the 2019 American Music Awards this weekend. Selena has had several chic moments on the AMA’s red carpet over the years and I am excited to see what this years look will be. It seems like Selena is now free of the reigns of her Coach ties now that Jennifer Lopez has been announced as the brands latest face. So I am really excited to see what she will bring to this red carpet. I loved the new sexier woman that Alessandro Michele sent down the Gucci Spring 2020 RTW runway. To be honest I can’t tell you why none of the looks from this collection have yet to make it to a red carpet. Well I would love to see Selena change that by stepping onto the AMA’s red carpet on Sunday wearing this black halter neck gown from that collection which features jade green and gold Chinese brocade inspired brocade, a daring chest cutout, a column skirt, and a thigh high split. The cut of this gown took me back to the days of Tom Ford and the fabric screams Alessandro’s vibe and the two together just makes for a perfect meshing of aesthetics. Cardi B made her Met Gala debut last year giving me Madonna (not the “Like A Virgin” one the actual virgin” with child realness in custom Moschino as the guest of Jeremy Scott. For this years red carpet I am picking a custom Mugler gown. In an article in the LA Times Cardi’s stylist was profiled for the major vintage Thierry Mugler ‘Venus on a Half Shell’ gown that he put her in for the Grammy Awards it was said “However, those wanting to see the Venus dress up close are out of luck because the ensemble won’t be part of the upcoming exhibition. It will make an appearance elsewhere, but Carter was mum on those details.” As soon as I read those words I knew that Cardi’s Grammy’s gown was bound for the Met Gala. So, even before I confirmed it, I went down a rabbit hole of creating a major custom Mugler moment for Cardi to rep the current creative director on this years Met Gala red carpet. I took inspiration from a vintage Mugler bustier shaped like a butterfly, but mixed it with a watercolor brushstroke print that current Mugler creative director Casey Cadwallader used in his debut runway show, but covering the print with iridescent sequins, creating this fitted gown with a dramatically sexy side split. Now on it’s own this gown is great, but it doesn’t have that drama that we typically associate with the Met Gala carpet built in. So I want to up the game with a
Dua Lipa hasn’t been to a Met Gala yet, but I would imagine on the heels of her Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording wins at this years Grammy Awards and the fact she has been embraced by fashion brands like Giambattista Valli, Versace, Armani, Christopher Kane, and Saint Laurent already that she is definitely a major contender to get a coveted invitation to the biggest night in fashion for sure. Honestly I should have made the obvious choice picking a big frothy Giambattista Valli Couture tulle gown for Dua since she LOVES them, but I wanted to make a bit of an unexpected choice for her to wear for her first Met Gala. Broadway stars definitely get invited to the Met Gala. Anna Wintour is a huge lover of theater and so some of the stars who will most likely get nominated for a Tony Award are invited to attend the Met Gala, both the Hollywood a-list (like Kerry Washington) and the Broadway a-list. Eva Noblezada definitely falls into the latter category. She just opened Hadestown which from what I have heard is going to make some major waves this year. She made her rise to theater stardom from Charlotte, North Carolina, which is where I am based, and since she is just 3 years younger than I am I feel this sort of connection to her. I feel like this could be her year to be a guest at the Met Gala and I want her to definitely rock a look that lives up to both the Met expectations in general, but also this years ‘Camp’ theme. Pamella Roland isn’t typically a brand that we see on the Met Gala red carpet, but I definitely think that this lilac feather embroidered tulle high low ballgown which features a high neckline and a dramatic train from the Pamella Roland Fall 2019 RTW collection is PERFECT for a rising Broadway star like Eva to bring to life on this red carpet. It has the elements of drama and ‘Camp’ that is perfect for a red carpet like this. I definitely think that Eva has the potential to really bring this gown to life for this red carpet. (Also Eva if you read this, like it, and get nominated for a Tony and want to work with a Charlotte based stylist hit me up!) I would finish this look with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, 
Katy Perry is on this years gala host committee and I definitely have high expectations for her after the major wing moment she had last year in Atelier Versace. I went for something a lot simpler for this years red carpet, but still really dramatic, with this black Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture strapless ballgown which features a velvet bustier, hot pink netting ruffle on the waist, and a full ostrich feather covered ball skirt. Now Katy loves color and is definitely someone who understands what ‘Camp’ is and so this gown might be too simple for her to rock on this red carpet, but I definitely think that it fits her style and would be amazing. I would go very kitschy with the styling with a 
Like Cardi, Troye Sivan also made his Met Gala debut last year wearing a custom red Valentino tuxedo paired with a sheer mesh t-shirt. I thought it was a perfect look for the young South African pop star. I definitely think that he should be invited back this year given the ‘Camp’ theme. I think he has it in him to really deliver a look. I decided to take a risk for Troy picking this Moschino Fall 2019 Menswear black tailcoat tuxedo with a red bow cummerbund worn over the jacket paired with bondage inspired buckled skinny pants. It is definitely more of a tough take on rock and roll glam than we are used to seeing from Troye, but I definitely believe he could easily sell it to me. I would swap the colored shirt that the tuxedo was paired with on the runway for a simple white tuxedo shirt and the clunky boots for a pair of
