Milan Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List

As they say fashion week stops for nothing. Well this season the Coronavirus tried to shut down the bi-annual Milan Fashion Week, and only partially succeeded. While the theaters on the final day of Milan Fashion Week might have been devoid of the usual guests of editors, buyers, celebrities, and influencers the shows still went on with those aforementioned people watching the collections come down the runway via a livestream from their hotel rooms. Overall I feel like while in shear number I was disappointed in the offerings that came out of Milan, but overall the quality of moment far exceeded both New York and London. In my wishes below you will find some absolutely major wishes for which I am now sending major positive energy out into the universe to manifest the red carpet moments and keep be excited about fashion. After loosing inspiration towards the end of last year and a mostly lackluster and rushed awards season the looks below give me hope that this year will have major glamour moments in store for us.

“Angry Birds 2” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

There are a couple of big movies coming out soon. I will be sprinkling them in over the next several weeks as we gear up for big red carpets like the Teen Choice Awards, Venice Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, and Emmy Awards. One premiere that I am definitely interested in seeing is the red carpet premiere for Angry Birds 2. Honestly the movie itself doesn’t doesn’t do anything for me, but the cast definitely has the potential do deliver a lot of fun moments on the red carpet. Awkwafina was an unexpected style star that I started to love over the course of the promo tours for Crazy Rich Asians and Oceans 8 last year. She loves to have fun with fashion and I definitely decided to go for a really majorly edgy moment for her to deliver on this red carpet. This black Burberry Fall 2019 RTW ensemble which features a button embellished smock dress which features chain straps, cold shoulders, and long sleeves, a pair of black tights, and a pair of black and white flat ankle boots with crystal fringe is definitely an edgy grunge punk look for Awkwafina to bring to life on this red carpet. It isn’t the typical red carpet look that I would pick for a major movie premiere, but I definitely think that it is perfect for Awkwafina to bring to life on the red carpet. I think it fits her persona perfectly. Chic waves, defined eyes, dark burgundy lips, and a statement black and white diamond Colette ‘Istanbul’ wing ear cuff would make this look red carpet ready and an amazing moment for Awkwafina to bring to life for this premiere.Dove Cameron is one I am definitely intrigued to see take to this red carpet. She was supposed to have a big July headed into August, but the premiere for her Disney Channel movie Descendants 3 was cancelled following the untimely death of co-star Cameron Boyce. I don’t know how his death had affected Dove or if she will be in a good state to even want to make an appearance on this red carpet. I do want to see her on this red carpet because I definitely believe that Dove is one to watch on the red carpet and I feel like she could bring a fun moment to this red carpet. I went with a chic little white dress with this Cong Tri thin strap mini dress which features a ruched hemp with a large bow. It is definitely more of a risky look. Bows can be almost any time they are utilized and I feel like the placement is not the easiest to make work off a runway. That being said I believe that Dove is a perfect person to wear it as she oozes effortless edgy glamour and if she styled it with a sleek center parted hairstyle, defined eyes, red lips, red nails, a pair of white Gianvito Rossi ‘Athena’ feather detail ankle strap sandals, and glamorous Samer Halimeh diamond cluster drop earrings I know that she would shut down this red carpet. Now one I am really interested in seeing on this red carpet is Nicki Minaj. I am wondering in what direction the rapper will bring for the red carpet for this premiere. I go back and forth with my feelings on Nicki’s style. She goes through spurts where I love what she is wearing and then spurts where I hate what she is wearing. I have to say that she has been on a bit of a hate run lately, and I want to see her show up on this red carpet in something that I love. I believe that Nicki would look amazing wearing this florescent orange Christian Cowan Fall 2019 RTW short sleeve sporty crystal embellished dress which features a high crew neck and a side split. It is a bit of a more casual look, but I think with the right styling I feel like it could work. A black to orange ombre high long ponytail, thick winged black glitter eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of gold Christian Louboutin ‘Aknubakta’ platform peep toe strappy metallic leather pumps, statement orange Anabela Chan ‘Aphrodite’ antique crystal, Swarovski crystal, hand-dyed resin cabochon, glass stone, bead, and antique-finished plated brass drop earrings, and a major Anabela Chan ‘Violet Mirage’ violet amethyst, pink sapphire, canary citrine, garnet, tourmaline, white diamond, and coral cabochon cocktail ring would definitely ensure that this look is major from head to toe. Finishing out the list is Tiffany Haddish. When we were first introduced to Tiffany I wasn’t a huge fan of her red carpet style, but then she was introduced to Law Roach and the rest is history. Law turned Tiffany into a major style star and I am very interested in seeing what the two are planning for this red carpet. I went more glamorous for Tiffany than I did with anyone else picking this black leather Ermanno Scervino Fall 2019 RTW strapless midi dress which features a corseted bodice and an asymmetrical tulle trimmed hemline. I definitely believe that the strong and sexy side of Tiffany would own this dress on the red carpet. A glamorous updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black and blue Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Madeline’ feather and crystal embellished sandals, and chic Hueb ‘Botanica’ diamond and tanzanite ear clips would definitely finish this look in the perfect manner for Tiffany to deliver on this red carpet.

I do not have a confirmed date for the LA premiere of Angry Birds 2, but I am expecting to see it happen soon.

15 Looks From Milan Fashion Week Spring 2019 I Want To See On The Red Carpet

Milan Fashion Week ended almost two and a half weeks ago, but I have just been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to get my 15 favorite looks that I want to see on the red carpet list out there. These posts take a lot of time not just because I have to go through all of the collections and narrow down all the looks down to just 15 but have to research the collections and then pick who I want to see wearing the looks on the red carpet. Over the course of Milan Fashion Week I saved over 350 looks that I think have red carpet potential. These looks cover everything from major gowns to cocktail moments to chic casual looks for press events to edgy performance looks. I went through all of those collections and narrowed them down to the following 15. These are the looks from Milan Fashion Week – Spring 2019 that I want to see on a red carpet.Attico: One of the brands that I have loved watching grow over the last year is Attico. It is one of the chicest, very Italian brands who deliver very wearable glamour in their collections. For Spring 2019 RTW the collection was a major love letter to the 80’s and I definitely think we will see many looks from he collection on the red carpet. Over the last year stars have really embraced the brand for cocktail and press appearances. In fact Olga Kurylenko has already brought a feathered buster and leather cargo pants ensemble from the brands Spring 2019 RTW collection to life for the London premiere of Jenny English Strikes Again. I went for more a simple look from this collection for Jennifer Lopez with this lilac and orange creamsicle fluid pois jacquard ‘Pat’ dress which features puff shoulders, faux wrap style, a v-neckline, a tie detail at waist, and embellished shoulder details. This dress is very chic and wearable and if JLo rocked this for a press stop during her upcoming movie promo tour I think it would be perfection.

Dolce & Gabbana: In the wake of Stefano Gabbana calling Selena Gomez, whom Dolce & Gabbana had dressed several times over the years, ugly it seemed like the Time’s Up movement was going to really push a boycott of the brand. However since the brand is such a fashion powerhouse I don’t think is going to stop stars from wearing the brand on the red carpet. In fact Cardi B just wore a dramatic gown from this collection on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Aside from that Domenico & Stefano showed a collection that really embraced all of the codes that they have infused into the brands DNA over the last 33 years. The show was a celebration of women, a diverse group of women. There were women of different sizes, every color, and many age groups. It was actually really beautiful. The moment I saw this blue and natural sleeveless mixed-fringe midi dress which features contrasting rows of fringe and tassels throughout, a midi length, and a column silhouette I pictured it being rocked by Amal Clooney as she is spotted headed out on a date night with George.

Emporio Armani: I usually wouldn’t pay much attention to Emporio Armani, but with bold colors and sparkling embellishments my inner magpie was drawn to this collection. This faction of the Armani brand is usually geared towards a younger crowd and I really think that there are quite a few looks that young Hollywood stars will want to fight over. I think that if anyone could really make this electric lime green and royal blue strapless jumpsuit which features intricate sequin and feathered embroidery and I definitely think it would be Halsey.Ermanno Scervino: When you look at an Ermanno Scervino collection you know you are going to get two things volume and glamour. The brand is known for those and doesn’t veer from that very often. While you don’t get boundary pushing designs like you can find at other Milan based brands like Marni, Prada, or Gucci you know that there will be great red carpet options from Ermanno Scervino. Orange is a huge trend for Spring 2019 RTW and I think that Jasmine Sanders would be the perfect person to bring this Ermanno Scervino Spring 2019 RTW orange tea length gown which features a strapless sweetheart neckline and dramatic ruffles offering of the trend to life on the red carpet.

Etro: While Etro is a very successful brand when it comes to sales they don’t often get a whole lot of red carpet love. The brand, known for bold eccentric prints, doesn’t focus on celebrities to influence sales likes some other brands so when they do end up on a red carpet I get very excited. There aren’t a whole lot of looks from the Etro Spring 2019 RTW collection that I think could be red carpet looks, but this black white and yellow floral print one shoulder gown is definitely one that I think could be really chic. I think that if anyone could really make this look work, probably on one of the more causal party red carpets, it would be supermodel turned actress Suki Waterhouse.

Fausto Puglisi: In an off season from showing a runway show Fausto Puglisi showed an 80’s Flashdance inspired collection in a presentation/lookbook. The collection was very much repetitive, but it is definitely something that I think many music stars will be drawn to. While I typically pick red carpet looks for this list it was this cape meets letterman jacket and color blocked swimsuit that really spoke to me from this collection. I immediately pictured Rita Ora rocking this look for one of her many performances. Giorgio Armani: I wasn’t thrilled with the Giorgio Armani Spring 2019 RTW. I was hoping for really amazing things, but I was rather underwhelmed with what Mr. Armani sent down the runway. The fit of the collection overall was terrible and the color palette reminded me of a Dixie disposable cup. I do however want to thee this Monet ‘Waterlilies’ inspired print beaded fringe cap sleeve jumpsuit which features a plunging v-neckline, and cutout sides and back on the red carpet and wouldn’t supermodel Karolina Kurkova just really deliver this look with ease on the red carpet?

Marni: Marni is one of the rarest brands on this list to see on the red carpet. It used to be a favorite of Anna Wintour, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Carey Mulligan. It had a hit H&M collaboration. But we don’t often see the brand on the red carpet anymore. I will say there weren’t too many looks from the Spring 2019 RTW collection that I think have what it takes to make a really chic red carpet moment (plenty of items that can be incorporated into your personal wardrobe though,) but this neutral canvas sleeveless midi dress which features a ruched exaggerated waist, a gathered a-line skirt, and blue hand-painted floral detail throughout made Keira Knightley pop into my mind. It could be a really chic press look while she is out promoting The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

Missoni: In the last year we have seen a revitalized celebrity love of Milan based knitwear brand Missoni on the red carpet. The brand has been back to more creative looks than just reinventing its signature multicolored zig zag print over and over again. It’s almost like the brand has gone through a bit of a renaissance again. While incredibly easy to wear knits were the focus of the brands Spring 2019 RTW collection there were a handful of looks that I could definitely see celebrity stylists vying to get their hands on. One of those looks was this slate blue sheer halter gown which features layers of metallic knit layers. This is a very easy glam moment and the moment I saw it I immediately thought it would be something that Zoe Saldana would be drawn to. Moschino: There was a bit of controversy surrounding Jeremy Scott’s Spring 2019 Collection for Moschino. Edda Gimnes, a Norwegian womenswear designer based in London, accused Scott to taking un-credited inspiration from one of her collections that heavily featured a marker print as did this collection, but I have to say that the kitschy (campy) spirit of this print is something that has been in the Moschino archive for many years. He gave several examples of this technique in his defense including a Moschino ad campaign from 1986 and a jacket (similar to the one shown above) shown in the Moschino Spring 1992 collection. I loved the major artist doodle pad meets Pretty Woman vibe that was given in this collection. Jeremy is one of the masters, and I definitely think that the MET Museum picked wrong in its choice of designer co-chairs for next years MET Gala. The show started strong with the black and white trompe-l’œil print crepe suit which features a bow front blazer and a pair of tapered pants and just continued to deliver hit look after hit look. I was taken with that suit because it seemed to be the perfect meshing of the brands signature camp and a sense of wearability and I definitely think that it is something that Evan Rachel Wood would rock on a red carpet. No one does a suit on a red carpet quite like ERW.

No. 21: Every season I always find one look from No. 21 to feature on my lists. I love the brand. From the chic clothing it creates to amazing iconic accessories I just think that the brand exudes wearable glamour. I also feel like the brand is totally underrated when it comes to the red carpet. It has attracted the likes of Constance Wu, Dakota Fanning, Diane Kruger, and Jessica Chastain in the last year or so. I want to see stars snatch up looks from the Spring 2019 RTW collection including this sequin fringe ‘Anne’ dress features a sleeveless knit dress underneath an embellished outer layer with a fitted silhouette which I definitely think Amber Heard should snatch up for press appearances for Aquaman.

Roberto Cavalli: I was less than impressed with Paul Surridge’s debut as the Roberto Cavalli creative director a year ago. He just didn’t seem to have that same sense of sex and flash that is at the core of the Cavalli DNA, but considering some of the couture gowns he’s created for Olivia Wilde, Sara Sampaio, Joan Smalls, and Alessandra Ambrosio in addition to his Resort 2019 collection I think that he could have a place at the house, he just has a steep learning curve to live up to the likes of Mr. Cavalli himself and even former creative director Peter Dundas. I do believe that he did a better job of balancing his tailoring experience with the hyper sexuality of the Cavalli woman this season. I actually want to see several of the looks from this collection on the red carpet and I definitely think that Olivia Wilde would take this terracotta colored long sleeve midi dress which features a sheer long sleeve beaded bodice with a plunging neckline and a ruched a-line midi skirt and make it a really chic red carpet moment. Is it the sexy mini dresses that Surridge also presented in this collection? No, but I still think that it defines the Cavalli woman. Salvatore Ferragamo: Like the new Cavalli creative director I was less than enthused with Paul Andrew’s (the shoe designer whose eponymous line I LOVE) debut at Salvatore Ferragamo back in February, but now he has had a look on both my Best of Resort 2019 and my Best of Milan Fashion Week Spring 2019 lists. The collections have gotten stronger and stronger. There were several looks from his newest collection that I think are destined for casual events like press interviews and then gowns that are perfect for gala’s. I think that for one of the more edgier, “artistic” galas that Olivia Munn would rock this suede macramé dress layered over indocina silk slip dress features a sleeveless body with a straight, fitted silhouette and full length with fringe hem. It is edgy and glamorous and I definitely think with her inherent sex appeal that Olivia radiates on the red carpet would really ensure this look is perfection.

Sportmax: I don’t usually bother looking at Sportmax collection typically. The looks that the brand send down the runway aren’t typically what I feature here on If I Was A Stylist, but something told me to check out this seasons collection. I’m glad I did. The brand had more of a dazzling air to it this season compared to the more day to day sportswear vibe we typically see from the brand. I fell in love with this silver and blue ‘Ciriaco’ dress designed with slits on both sides, sequin detailing throughout, a haltered neckline, and a midi length hem the moment I saw it. Is it anything really innovative or boundary pushing when it comes to style? No, but it is just a fun dazzling party look that I think would be perfect for Tiffany Haddish.

Vionnet: Finishing out this list is the always beautiful Vionnet. The label established in 1912 and revitalized in 2009 has been one of the brands that I feel is very underrated. When it first relaunched it was a celeb favorite, but in recent years that love has waned. I want to see the brand, which has been working at becoming a leader in sustainable luxury, have a resurgence as a celebrity favorite. It isn’t one of the edgy boundary pushing labels that we typically see on the fashion week circuit, but I think that the glamorous draping is perfect for the red carpet. It has been a hot minute but Naomie Harris was a fan of Vionnet and I definitely think that she would be the perfect person to bring this beige and hot pink tulle draped gown which features a silver waistband, plunging v-neckline, and a sheer skirt to life on a red carpet.

So there you have it my 15 favorite looks that came down the Milan Fashion Week runways for Spring 2019 RTW. Which ones do you want to see on the red carpet and who do you want to see bring it to life?

2018 AFI Lifetime Achievement Award Gala Honoring George Clooney Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

George Clooney is being honored with an AFI Lifetime Achievement Award next Thursday and I am really excited to see who will step out to honor this storied actor, director, and producer. George has worked with almost all of the biggest names in Hollywood in both his television and film careers as well as his work in philanthropy. I went through lists of Georges famous female friends, co-stars, and more to come up with the ladies featured in this list, and while I don’t have any confirmed idea of who will be invited. Anna Kendrick stared along side George in 2009’s Up In The Air and it earned both and Oscar nomination. I would honestly be surprised not to see Anna on the red carpet. While I mostly picked gowns for this red carpet and I think that Anna would rock the red carpet giving a little variation wearing this blue and black floral print Armani Prive Spring 2018 Couture strapless mini dress which features 3-D beaded embroidery on the neckline, peplum hips, tulle overlay, and tight hem. This is a great dress and I definitely think that Anna would rock the hell out if this dress. A sleek updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a navy velvet Judith Leiber Couture coffered rectangle clutch, black Christian Louboutin ‘Very Lace’ peep toe platform pumps, and a pair of Hueb ‘Mirage’ blue tanzanite and diamond earrings would all ensure that this is a really chic look for Anna to rock on the red carpet to honor George.Cindy Crawford, and her husband Rande Gerber, are among Georges best friends and while I doubt either will stand on the stage it would surprise me if they aren’t in attendance. Probably seated at the same table as George and Amal. One thing I would take a bet on is that if Cindy is on the red carpet at the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award Gala honoring George Clooney that she will do so wearing some sort of a Versace gown. I think that she should dip into the Atelier Versace archives and snatch up this sleek white halter gown which features a corseted bodice, plunging neckline, sheer panels, a high low hem, and a bit of a train. Cindy knows sexy and I think that she would ensure that it is a beautiful moment for her to rock on this red carpet. I would keep the look rather sleek styling it with dramatic old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, nude lips, a white Prada studded frame clutch, a pair of white Aquazzura ‘Galaxy’ embellished PVC slide mule sandals, and statement Chopard amethyst, aquamarine, and rubellite drop earrings. Back in 1998 Jennifer Lopez stared alongside George Clooney in Out of Sight. While her Vegas residency is currently performing she is off on the night of his gala and I wonder if she will jet from Vegas to LA to help celebrate George. After all Out of Sight was one of Jennifer’s first films. I always love when JLo steps out for a Hollywood red carpet because she brings a different style of glamour than we usually see when she steps out for music events. Jennifer wore some Pamella Roland back when she was a judge on American Idol but has never worn the brand for a red carpet before. I do think that turning to the NYC based designer and this glamorous white one shoulder gown from her Pre-Fall 2018 collection which features a bugle beaded fringe embellished bodice and a fitted column skirt. The fitted column gown isn’t exactly what we are used to seeing from Jennifer. Usually when it comes to really fitted gowns Jennifer usually wears ones that have a dramatic train or are sheer. I think that this would be a really glamorous change of pace for the iconic superstar. It is a really glamorous gown and I definitely think that with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a white Marchesa beaded crystal clasp clutch bag, white Christian Louboutin ‘Jumping’ strappy pumps, and a pair of statement Harry Winston diamond waterfall earrings would all make this a truly statement making glamour moment for Jennifer. In 1997 George stared in The Interpreter alongside the gorgeous Nicole Kidman. I adore seeing Nicole on the red carpet and she has a little redeeming to do after the golden butter Michael Kors gown that she wore to the ACM Awards back in April. She usually gives some really glam looks on the red carpet, especially when stepping out to support hubby Keith Urban, and I feel like she would bring a chic look to the red carpet at the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award Gala next week. I definitely think that Nicole would bring statuesque glamour to this red carpet giving us this cream lace Ermanno Scervino Fall 2018 RTW long sleeve midi dress which features a wrap style, side split, plunging v-neck, and sheer lace construction. This is definitely a really sexy look for Nicole, but still really glamorous. She doesn’t do a whole lot of the sheer trend, but its so subtle in this dress that I think she would still be drawn to it. I think that pairing this dress with a sleek hairstyle, defined eyes, rose pink lips, and a pair of gold Sergio Rossi strappy pointed toe pumps would all really allow this dress to come to life on the red carpet. Tilda Swinton and George Clooney have stared on the big screen together three times. In Michael Clayton, Burn After Reading, and Hail, Cesar. Tilda earned herself an Oscar for her performance in Michael Clayton and since she and George seem to enjoy working together that I would love to see her step out to fete George at his gala. I always love a Swinton sighting and I think that if she stepped onto this red carpet (or more realistically snapped inside after skipping the red carpet) wearing this dark green velvet and black Haider Ackermann Fall 2018 RTW midi dress which features a turtleneck, an A-line silhouette, and pleats in the skirt that it would be a really great moment. I would usually pick a pants look for Tilda to wear on a red carpet like this, but I think that this dress is really perfect for the occasion. I really do think that Tilda could really sell this look to me on the red carpet especially if she paired the look with her signature pompadour coif, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of black and gold Fendi cross strap sandals.
