2020 Venice Film Festival: “The Human Voice” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The Human Voice was added to the Out of Competition selection in Venice after the full selection was released. The new film by Pedro Almodóvar, filmed and edited in record time as soon as the lockdown was lifted – The Human Voice, adapted from Jean Cocteau and starring Tilda Swinton. Since Swinton is being honored with an Honorary Golden Lion (the top prize in Venice) this year I was surprised that she didn’t have a film screening at the festival. Apparently so was the festival so they added The Human Voice. Almodóvar says: “I am very excited about coming back to Venice in such a special year, with COVID-19 as [an] involuntary guest. Everything will be different, and I am looking forward to discovering it in person.
It is an honour to accompany Tilda in a year in which she is receiving a very much deserved award Almodóvar was given the same honor last year). As a matter of fact, The Human Voice is a festival of Tilda, a display of her infinite and assorted registers as an actress. It’s been a spectacle to direct her.”So to promote The Human Voice I found to superb couture moments for the illustrious Tilda Swinton. I am always a fan of the actresses avant garde style and I cannot wait to see what she will bring to the red carpet in Venice. For the photocall I went for strong suiting with this draped white crepe wool Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture skirt suit. I adore this simple take on the classic skirt suit and I definitely think that it would be a super chic moment for Tilda to wear for the casual photocall event in Venice. I feel like it would be great with her flame orange red hair in a chic coif, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of white lace Gianvito Rossi ‘Liliane’ pointed toe pumps. Now for the premiere I went for DAZZLE picking this silver and white floral sequined Givenchy Spring 2020 Couture column gown which features a voluminous cocoon caped bodice. I love this dress and I hope it won’t be lost to the archive. The new creative director is now on the job at Givenchy so I don’t know if the house will allow stylists to option Clare Waight Keller’s final couture collection for the house. I hope so because I know that Tilda would shut it down especially if styled with her signature coif, defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ PVC detailed pointed toe pumps. I appreciate that Venice decided to add One Night in Miami and The Human Voice to the selection. It allowed me to add wishes for Cate Blanchett that I felt I was missing. I really wanted to include an Alexander McQueen look for Cate to wear in Venice. I always love when she bring the avant garde labels creations to life on the red carpet. In keeping with Cate’s more sustainable approach to fashion I’ve been including several archive moments I would love to see her bring out and give red carpet moments. We didn’t see many of the looks from the final Alexander McQueen collection from the houses eponymous founder on the red carpet. I would die if Cate showed up on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival wearing this black long sleeve a-line gown which features intricate gold beaded embroidery on the bodice and sleeves, and a pleated skirt from the Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 RTW collection. I feel like it would definitely be a major fashion moment on the red carpet. A sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of black and gold Pierre Hardy crystal embellished strappy sandals, and vintage gold Van Cleef & Arpels earrings set with circular-cut diamonds circa 1945 would definitely make sure this look is the perfect balance of drama and glamour. I’d also been thinking of a Prada or Miu Miu look for Venice jury member Ludivine Sagnier so the addition of this set of wishes allowed me to add a set for her. So I would love to see her take this black crinkled silk Prada Resort 2021 strapless midi dress and customize it turning it into a floor length ballgown with a sweeping train. It isn’t an avant garde over embellished moment we are used to seeing from Prada on the red carpet, especially not on a red carpet like this, but I feel like with Miuccia’s turn towards simplicity with the Resort 2021 season that it would be a really cool moment. I think that taking that customized gown styling it with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, pink glossy lips, a black satin Prada jeweled applique clutch, a pair of black Prada crystal embellished sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 white diamond teardrop paisley earrings would definitely make it a cool and glamorous moment. I’ve heard that Spanish actress and model Ester Exposito is heading to Venice to walk the red carpets. When I first heard that news my mind went directly to Etro. The Italian fashion brand has become such a major red carpet heavy hitter and I am expecting to see several looks from the label on the red carpet. So I went shopping from the runways and the virtual store racks and didn’t really find anything that I love. So I’m getting creative. I did love this gold lame long sleeve wrap style dress from the Etro Fall 2020 RTW collection which features a daring plunging neckline, center split, and an intricately embroidered wide velvet belt. I would love to see Ester rock a custom gown using this as inspiration. I feel like cutting the sleeves and making this a sleeveless disco gown lengthening the skirt to hit the floor could make it a super sexy glamorous moment for Ester. Taking this gown styling with a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, pink lips, a gold glitter resin Yliana Yepez ‘Eva’ tassel detailed minaudiere, a pair of gold metallic leather Jimmy Choo ‘Tesca’ strappy sandals, and a statement white diamond and multicolored precious stone Bulgari ‘Barocko’ collection bib necklace would definitely be a super glam moment for Ester. Now in a second wish for her I wanted to give Ester a modern princess moment with this dark midnight blue, gold, and white watercolor marble pattern Georges Hobeika Fall 2020 Couture ballgown which features a plunging neckline and a thin gold belted waist. I really think that this gown would be a gorgeous moment. I would love to see her take this gown and deliver it on the red carpet in Venice with a sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of gold ombre glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pointed toe pumps, and a Pomellato High Jewelry ‘Gourmette’ chain necklace made up of 2900 brown diamonds with a total of 69 carats that took the master jewelers 190 hours of work to complete. When I was adding another star who I would love to see rock the red carpet in Venice to represent Armani I really wanted make a statement so I decided to go with Zendaya. We’ve seen Zendaya front row at the Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture presentation as well as wearing the label for the Spider-Man: Far From Home premiere. So I would LOVE to see Zendaya on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival rocking two MAJOR gowns from the brands archive starting with this hot pink Armani Prive Fall 2007 Couture strapless high low bustier ballgown which features a bow layered ball skirt with black lining. To me this is the Zendaya style version of the iconic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes Marilyn Monroe gown. I really love to see her bring this major moment to life with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, soft smokey eyes, bold pink lips, a pair of matching hot pink Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ crystal embellished suede and PVC pointed toe pumps, and a dazzling Tiffany & Co. 2020 Blue Book collection white diamond and pink tourmaline strand bib necklace. The second look I picked for Zendaya isn’t as big, but just as statement making. I love this acid green strapless Armani Prive Spring 2012 Couture column gown which features a reptile skin beaded body and a feathered hem. This look was from the repeat show in Beijing where Giorgio Armani added a couple of new looks to the ones shown from the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. I would LOVE to see Zendaya slink down a major red carpet like Venice wearing this gown. Make it perfection with an abstract yet sleek retro inspired updo, soft smokey eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Loubi Queen’ ankle strap sandals. I would also like to see Zendaya highlight a black owned high jewelry brand with this gown styling the look with Vanlees jewels including a pair of white diamond and emerald ‘Legends of Africa’ wing earrings and a matching statement ‘Legends of Africa’ cuff bracelet. Glamour and a message.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “The Duke” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The 2020 Venice Film Festival official selection is much more Euro-centric, although not exclusively, than past editions. I feel like this was a conscious decision by festival organizers to plan for delegations from the films to actually be able to attend in person screenings at this years edition due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. We saw the Shanghai Film Festival go on with in person events and the closing ceremony gave us major fashion moments from labels like Valentino Couture, Azzi & Osta, Emilia Wickstead, Alberta Ferretti, Marchesa, and more. So I am hoping that this years Venice Film Festival will finally end the drought of glamour we’ve experienced since just after the Oscars this year. One film I hope to see have the cast on the red carpet for the premiere is The Duke which stars Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. The film is about how in 1961, Kempton Bunton, a 60 year old taxi driver, stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. He sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly. What happened next became the stuff of legend. An uplifting true story about a good man who set out to change the world and managed to save his marriage. So let’s get into my wishes shall we?I always love seeing Helen Mirren on the red carpet. She continues to deliver major fashion moments on the red carpet and I am definitely hoping she will be in Venice to promote her film. Now I would also understand if she chooses not to and join the screening virtually out of caution over COVID-19 concerns. If we do see her in Venice I’ve picked two glamorous looks for her to bring to life starting with a robins egg blue Erdem Resort 2021 ‘Mills’ jersey ruched waist midi dress which features a jewel neckline, long balloon sleeves, and pearl detail on the waist. I feel like this is a super chic moment and a nod to British designers which Helen has been known to do on the red carpet every once in a while. I decided to make this look a true homage to British fashion styling it with matching blue Malone Souliers ‘Maybelle’ wavy croc embossed pointed toe pumps. Finishing this look with a sleek bob, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and Chopard white diamond and pearl stud earrings would definitely make this a superb photocall fashion moment for Helen. For the premiere I turned to Armani Prive and this GORGEOUS ice blue band stripe ball gown from the Fall 2019 Couture which features a crystal embellished circular mesh long sleeve tunic. I love this gown and I really do think that Helen would as well. I would have some sort of nude lining added to the bodice and sleeves for her as she does like to be a little more covered. I feel like she would deliver this moment as glamour defined with a whispy bob, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a silver Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ croc embossed leather crystal clasp clutch, a pair of silver Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Monstera’ mesh paneled pointed toe crystal feather broach detailed pumps, and dazzling white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection cluster earrings. In my wishes for Cate Blanchett to bring to life in Venice this year as the festivals jury president I have given a little bit of everything. I’ve given you new, archive, re-wear, and vintage. I love that Cate isn’t afraid to dig into the archives for her looks. So I decided to dig into the archives from Jean Paul Gaultier Couture for this is. I love the film nior femme fatale glamour of this black velvet one shoulder column gown with attached white chiffon cape and sleeve from the Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 Couture. I have since it was first presented. I feel like if anyone could bring this major glam moment out of the archive and to life on the red carpet it would be Cate. I can imagine the regal glamour that Cate would infuse into this look. Personally I would love to see it styled with a sleek retro updo, defined eyes, deep red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Round Chick Alta’ peep toe half d’Orsay ankle strap platform pumps, a pair of vintage Van Cleef & Arpels white diamond and emerald art deco chandelier earrings, and a white gold set Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Ludo Hexagone’ white diamond bracelet. When it comes to fashion French actress, and 2020 Venice Film Festival jury member, Ludivine Sagnier is a little more subtle and classic. While some of the looks I’ve picked for her have pushed the boundaries on her sense of style I’ve also gone with more classic looks for Ludivine to wear on the red carpets in Venice. In today’s wishes I am going with another classic gown for Ludivine with this champagne gold crystal covered Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture strapless column gown. The gown is not a boundary pushing moment. Not for Ludivine and not for fashion, but a perfectly done classic moment can be just as impactful (and sometimes more) as a big ball gown or dramatic trains. This gown has the potential to bring a major glamour moment to the red carpet. If Ludivine stepped onto the Lido red carpet wearing this gown styled with an elegant side parted updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a ballet pink and champagne crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, gold Jimmy Choo ‘Emsy’ peep toe crisscross strap metallic leather sandals, and a vintage Bulgari white diamond art deco floral garland necklace from 1954 I know that this look would have that perfect classic glamour moment on her hands. Etro has become a major red carpet contender in the last year having dressed major stars for the Cannes Film Festival, last years Venice Film Festival, the Golden Globe Awards, and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. I can guarantee that the Italian fashion brand will have ambassadors walking the red carpet in Venice wearing their creations. I was on Etro.com looking at their stock when I saw this black crepe de chine gown which features draped detailing embellished with tone-on-tone sequin embroideries on the shoulders, a v-neckline, ruched detail, cutaway center split, and a flowing skirt with a long train. I knew I wanted to put it in my wishes for Venice, but I wasn’t sure for who. I was looking at who has worn Etro on the red carpet in the last year I saw Kat Graham at the InStyle Golden Globes party and it clicked. It isn’t a typical gown we see from Kat, but I feel like with the right styling it would be a major moment. I would go with a sleek blunt bang black bob, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Milos’ PVC strap sandals, and a statement David Webb ‘Cascade’ white diamond, emerald, and sapphire necklace to really make this the major moment I know Kat can deliver on the red carpet. As I was saving archive Armani red carpet looks there were a couple that made me think of Korean supermodel Soo Joo Park. I decided to include her in my wishes to see Armani on the red carpet, but I feel like this might be a pipe dream. See Armani has such a presence at the Venice Film Festival because Armani Beauty is a presenting sponsor of the film festival and Soo Joo is a face of L’Oreal Paris. So while I feel the two looks I’ve picked from Armani for Soo Joo are perfect for her the contractual conflict of interest probably means that these wishes are going to be just that; at least for the Venice Film Festival. It was the black and jade green liquid fiber Armani Prive Spring 2011 Couture strapless shapeless ballgown that made me want to include Soo Joo in these wishes. I love this gown, but it isn’t something that works for very many. I feel like Soo Joo who has an edgy almost alienistic sense of style would definitely be the perfect person to bring this look out of the Armani archives and onto the red carpet. I would love to see Soo Joo style this major look with a sleek side parted updo, avant garde thick lined eyes, pink lips, a pair of black satin Tom Ford squared platform peep toe ankle strap pumps, and the white diamond, emerald, and sapphire Tiffany & Co. Blue Book 2020 choker necklace that Charlize Theron wore for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. It would definitely be a major fashion moment. The second look I’ve picked for Soo Joo is also an archive moment with this black and white striped Giorgio Armani Spring 2007 RTW strapless gown which features a cutout bustier bodice with a sweetheart neckline and a tiered flamenco flounce skirt. It is the balance of avant garde styling and classic elegance that made me want to pull this gown out of the Armani Archives for Soo Joo. It is a simpler style, but I feel like she would once again make it a major fashion moment. To make it a superb high glamour moment I would love to see this gown styled with a 20s fingerwave updo, classic cat eye winged thick eyeliner, bold red lips, a pair of black leather, suede, and crystal embellished Saint Laurent knot detail sling back pumps, and a STATEMENT de Grisogono white diamond and pearl choker necklace.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 18

We got a little scoop about the exhibition that will be the inspiration for the red carpet at the 2020 Met Gala thanks to British Vogue talking to the curator in charge Andrew Bolton. “About Time: Fashion and Duration,” says Bolton, will take a “nuanced and open-ended” approach. “It’s a reimagining of fashion history that’s fragmented, discontinuous, and heterogeneous.” Bolton plans to make us think differently about fashion history, by dividing 160 women’s garments into two sections throughout the exhibition. The first section will be a timeline of completely black looks: “It’s a very rational, regulated chronology of fashion from 1870 to 2020, the timescale of modernity.” The second section will focus mainly on white outfits with added pops of colour. I am really excited to see what this theme will deliver on the red carpet. How will brands and stars will interpret the theme. Will they go avant garde or timeless?Over the years Bella Hadid has never been able to wow me on the red carpet at the Met Gala. It shocks me because usually just days later she is dialing up the glamour and making me fall in love with her all over again on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Instead of turning to one of the usual brands we see on the Met steps I decided to go with one whom doesn’t typically recieve much Met Gala love: Ralph & Russo. The British couture label knows how to deliver superb glam moments and this black tulle gown ornately embellished with black pearlescent and silver sequins in a stylized snake print design, featuring double satin draping and cut outs at the waist finished with tassels from the Ralph & Russo Spring 2019 Couture collection definitely popped into my mind as a fantastic option to fit this years Met Gala theme. It is very much timeless, with an uber sexy twist. That is what I think Bella tends to deliver best on the red carpet. So I would love to see her pull this gown out of the archive and bring it to life on this red carpet. Depending on how it falls on Bella I might want to ask Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo to lengthen the train of this gown to make sure it is a super dramatic glam moment. I know that is exactly what this look would be with a sleek vintage inspired updo, thick winged lined smokey eyes, bold matte red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Jewel Queen’ crystal embellished bow detail ankle strap sandals, and a pair of classic yet dazzling white diamond de Grisogono cluster earrings. Erdem Moralioglu, the creative director of his eponymous label Erdem, has taken once guest with him to the Met Gala every year for a while now. I always am excited to see who will be wearing Erdem on the red carpet. He typically takes a look from his fall collection and customizes it for the starlet he brings. In the past we have seen Erdem walk this red carpet with Rachel Brosnahan, Kristin Scott Thomas, Claire Foy, Alexa Chung, Lily Donaldson, Juno Temple, Lena Dunham, Ruth Wilson, and Felicity Jones. Since he has never dressed the same woman twice for a Met Gala I thought that this year would be the perfect time for Erdem to dress Emily Blunt. Over the years Emily has worn many Erdem looks. Mostly for more laid back events, but as I was looking at this layered embossed silk cutout tea length gown from the Erdem Fall 2020 RTW collection imagining it being made strapless and lengthened into a floor length ballgown with a sweeping train I knew that it was the perfect look for Emily to bring to life on the Met Gala red carpet. the detail is so subtle, but it really makes this anything but a basic black gown. To make this look scream glamour from head to toe I would style the look with a loose vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, thick lashes, pink lips, a dark emerald green crocodile leather Judith Leiber Couture ‘Cayman’ jeweled clasp clutch, a pair of black patent leather Jimmy Choo ‘Kaitence’ jeweled bow detailed d’Orsay pointed toe pumps, and a magnificent antique 1930’s Cartier white diamond and emerald collar necklace. I mentioned yesterday that Etro has really exploded as a red carpet brand. I would honestly be shocked if we don’t see at least one Etro look on the Met Gala red carpet this year, and I am expecting a couple. Karolina Kurkova has worn Etro on the red carpet at both the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and I feel like it just makes since to see her wearing the label on the Met Gala red carpet. I saw this gold lamé Etro Fall 2020 RTW wrap style midi dress which features a super sexy plunging neckline, a center split, long sleeves, and a wide belted waist and my first thought was “that could be a Met gown.” The dress already gives Studio 54 disco vibes and I think that by lengthening the skirt so that it hits the floor but still maintains high low hem in the front would definitely be a superb moment for this red carpet. While I think a lot of stars will reference the 20s, 30s, 40s, and even 50’s with their looks I don’t think that 70’s disco glam is something we will see a while lot of. I really do think that Karolina is the perfect person to bring this look to life with glamorous Veronica Lake waves, defined eyes, nude pink lips, a gold mirror sequin embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of gold metallic leather Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of amazing Buccellati jewels including a pair of flower-carved jade and white diamond ‘Fiore Verde’ pendant earrings and a statement ‘Pagoda’ cocktail ring in emerald, white, and yellow diamonds.Miley Cyrus has never worn the same label on the Met Gala red carpet, but I decided to have Miley walk the red carpet with the same label who brought her last year: Saint Laurent. I definitely think that Saint Laurent fits with Miley’s aesthetic lately perfectly. She has been giving a lot of grunge meets glam rock looks on the red carpet with her banged almost mullet like hairstyle she has been rocking lately. Now I do not expect that Miley’s hairstyle will change and I am not a fan, but with the right styling I might begin to really be on board with her look. I decided to start the look with this black number from the Saint Laurent Fall 2020 RTW collection which features a lace sheer tulle halterneck bodysuit and super skinny fit high waisted latex pants. Now Miley would definitely wear the look was it was presented on the runway any day, but for the Met Gala I would love to see the drama pumped up I would ask Anthony Vaccarello, the Saint Laurent creative director, to create a side bow out of black horsehair ribboning embellished with crystals and feathers and a latex sash to really bring to the glamorous drama to this super sexy moment. Adding the train as well as smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of black and silver striped Saint Laurent ‘Zoe’ crystal embellished pointed toe d’Orsay ankle strap pumps, and a selection of Nikos Koulis ‘Oui’ collection jewels including simple white gold stud earrings with white diamonds and black enamel and a chic chain link necklace with emerald cut white diamonds, a statement emerald, and black enamel would definitely can imagine that this look is the definition of grungy glam rock. Viola Davis hasn’t walked the Met Gala red carpet in a decade. Her first, and last, appearance was back in 2010 at the “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity” gala where she was dressed by Vera Wang. Over the years Viola has consistently worn super glamorous classic moments on the red carpet. Late last year Viola signed a major beauty contract with Viola Davis so I know that more and more red carpets from her are imminent. I would love to see her take the Met Gala red carpet this year delivering a superb glamour moment. As I mentioned a couple of days ago with my first Rodarte Met Gala wish that the label has never brought a woman of color to the Met Gala before. As I was picking looks from the brand I wanted to see on this years red carpet I realized I exclusively picked women of color to bring the brands moments to life on the Met red carpet. I had already imagined this stunning blue Rodarte Fall 2020 RTW draped hand painted floral print silk cape gown which features a criss-cross draped bodice, bias cut silhouette, and a dramatic cape in my mind for Viola and it just made sense for the look to be brought to life on the Met Gala red carpet. I would modify the runway version of this gown ever so slightly just lengthening the cape to make sure there is a really long dramatic train for the look. It would definitely be the biggest style statement Viola has ever worn, but I think that it will worn. A teased tight curl updo, defined eyes, bold red glossy lips, a metallic blue lizard leather Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, a pair of sky blue Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ crystal tiara embellished pointed toe pumps, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond and sapphire floral paisley teardrop earrings would definitely make sure that Viola delivers the drama on her first Met Gala in a decade.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 17

The first Met Gala was held in 1948 to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, which is the only curatorial department in the museum which has to self fund its budget, and as a way to mark the opening of its main exhibition. Since 1995, the so-called Oscars of fashion has been presided over by Anna Wintour, US Vogue’s editor-in-chief. It is a celebration of all things fashion, and is considered one of the most highly-coveted invitations of the year. High profile celebrities, models, fashion industry icons, titans of politics and industry, and more attend the annual fundraising event wearing the most incredible looks that are in line with the exhibition theme and corresponding gala theme. And, since its inception, the Met Gala has continued to be a major fundraising event for the Costume Institute—consistently raising funds that surpass eight-figures—and each year. Last year 550 guests raised $15,000,000 for the Costume Institute. I am really interested to see how this years event will fair on the red carpet, and how much money it will raise for the museum.  Beanie Feldstein has most definitely become quite the fashionista since bursting onto the scene with her hit film Booksmart. She has worn amazing looks from Mary Katrantzou, Oscar de la Renta, Lela Rose, Markarian, and Miu Miu over the course of awards season and I definitely think we might see her on this years Met Gala red carpet. I knew immediately this dark green Marc Jacobs Fall 2020 RTW strass embellished lurex cocktail dress which features a fitted silhouette, V-neck, and a gathered front would make a glamorous moment for the Met Gala. I feel like this super glam moment would be great for Beanie to wear on her first Met red carpet, but It needs some modifications. Now obviously the runway dress has to be lengthened to hit the floor, but I also think I would love to see Marc create a big bow for the back which has tails that turn into a dramatic train. This would definitely make for a super dramatic and glamorous moment for Beanie to rock on this red carpet. I would go full glam to finish this look with a romantic wavy faux bob updo, smokey eyes, red lips, an emerald green Tyler Ellis ‘Tyler’ marbled plexi clutch, a pair of emerald green satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Jamala’ crystal embellished strappy sling black pointed toe pumps, and dazzling white diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection teardrop earrings. Prior to the Cannes Film Festival last year Etro was just a label that stars wore for more casual events. Since then models and actresses have been wearing the label on the red carpet at major events like Cannes, the MTV Movie Awards, the Venice Film Festival, the Golden Globe Awards, and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. This all happened after Carlo Mengucci left Alberta Ferretti/Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. Carlo worked his magic on the red carpets making sure at least one star was wearing a look from those collections. So I am sure that we will see a couple of looks from the label on the 2020 Met Gala red carpet. Elsa Hosk has probably one of the most successful Etro red carpet moments to date with the sherbet colored tribute to Lauren Hutton she wore at the Cannes Film Festival last year. It was one of my favorite red carpet looks from last year. It oozed glamour. Elsa has delivered many more Etro moments since then. Now the looks that Etro sends down the red carpet are not always on brand with the current runways, but the looks from the label I’ve picked to see on the Met Gala red carpet are all about modified looks from the Etro Fall 2020 RTW collection. This navy velvet strapless cocktail dress which features a pleated bustier bodice, an a-line silhouette, and wide black leather belt with an oversized metal buckle definitely screams glamour which is perfect to be on theme for this years Met Gala while also being on brand for Etro. To make this look perfect I would lengthen it to hit the floor and then have a really long dramatic train adding a classic old Hollywood waves, thick winged eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black and natural striped Casadei for EFI Decollete ‘Blade’ pointed toe pumps, and a real statement de Grisogono 18ct white gold, 18ct pink gold, white and brown diamond necklace.Kate Hudson has given me one of my favorite red carpet looks this year so far wearing a lime green ensemble with a molded metallic bralet that she wore at the Tom Ford Fall 2020 RTW fashion show presentation on the eve of the Oscars. While that was a great moment instead of picking a look from Tom Ford for Kate I decided to have her dive into the Atelier Versace archives instead. This rose gold one shoulder draped chainmail gown from the Atelier Versace Fall 2000 Couture collection which features a single billowing sleeve and a thigh high split is absolutely major and I definitely can imagine Kate bringing this look which seems to mesh super high glam and bohemian esthetics perfectly to life on the red carpet. The glamour of it all to me is perfect for this years red carpet. Now like was the case with the vintage Atelier Versace gown I picked for Selena Gomez I would also like to see Donatella create a custom gown inspired by this archive look so that it can have a long dramatic train. A sleek updo, defined eyes, L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lip Crayon in ‘Strawberry Glaze’, a pair of nude Christian Louboutin ‘Galerietta’ rose gold pyramid studded strappy sandals, and Bulgari 18k gold set ruby tassel drop earrings all would make this a superb moment for Kate to bring to life on the Met Gala red carpet. Here we go with another look for the Louis Vuitton crew to wear on the red carpet at the 2020 Met Gala. LV is the presenting sponsor of this years Met Gala and the subsequent “About Time: Fashion and Duration” exhibition so I know we are going to see several moments from the label on the red carpet. I definitely want to see Virgil Abloh dress a couple of dudes for this years red carpet. His creations for the house push the boundaries on classic which make for perfect menswear moments for the Met Gala red carpet. This navy Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2020 Menswear tuxedo which features an abstract camo print tuxedo jacket with a matching harness, simple navy tuxedo pants, and a white button down shirt is definitely perfect for this red carpet and Michael B. Jordan would definitely be able to rock this look. Now I would swap the grey sneakers the tuxedo was paired with in the lookbook with a pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Vendome’ monogrammed waxed calf leather derbies to really make this look perfect for Michael. Rounding out this set of wishes is a look from Balmain. Honestly I wasn’t thrilled with any of the Balmain womenswear from the Fall 2020 RTW collection. I actually only picked a Balmain look for one woman, and it is a major moment. That being said there are some really great moments from the Balmain Fall 2020 Menswear collection I want to see brought to the red carpet. Usher has been all over the red carpets lately after what seemed like a while off the map and doing so wearing a lot of Balmain. He was front row with Cindy Bruna at the Fall 2020 RTW show and he wore a look form the Fall 2020 Menswear collection on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party already. It has been a while since Usher has been on the Met Gala red carpet, but I would love to see him bring the interesting menswear this year wearing this black Balmain Fall 2020 Menswear tuxedo which features a shiny and matte paneling with white top stitching and fitted pants. The look it super cool as it was presented on the runway. I would love to see Usher keep the turtleneck top the look was presented with on the runway and a pair of black leather Balmain ‘Paige’ strappy silver metal detailed ankle boots. It would definitely make for a super chic menswear moment.

Milan Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List

As they say fashion week stops for nothing. Well this season the Coronavirus tried to shut down the bi-annual Milan Fashion Week, and only partially succeeded. While the theaters on the final day of Milan Fashion Week might have been devoid of the usual guests of editors, buyers, celebrities, and influencers the shows still went on with those aforementioned people watching the collections come down the runway via a livestream from their hotel rooms. Overall I feel like while in shear number I was disappointed in the offerings that came out of Milan, but overall the quality of moment far exceeded both New York and London. In my wishes below you will find some absolutely major wishes for which I am now sending major positive energy out into the universe to manifest the red carpet moments and keep be excited about fashion. After loosing inspiration towards the end of last year and a mostly lackluster and rushed awards season the looks below give me hope that this year will have major glamour moments in store for us.

2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet Wish List

The day before the Oscars in a tent adjacent to the Santa Monica beach the 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards will take place. This carpet is typically the most laid back of awards season, but given some of the nominees I am hoping that while this might be a mid day awards event that the stars will bring their a-game to the red carpet. This years event is going to be hosted by Aubrey Plaza and so that is why I picked two looks for her. One is a printed maxi gown that is perfect for the red carpet and then a bold green Balmain mini dress for her to wear while on stage hosting the show. In terms of the looks for nominees and guests I have to say my favorite wish here is the soft peach Givenchy Spring 2020 Couture ensemble I want to see JLo shut the red carpet down in. The look is definitely not the easiest to pull off, but I believe that JLo is the perfect one to translate this look off the runway. Every single one of these looks would be an absolutely amazing moment for each of these ladies to bring to life on the red carpet.

Aubrey Plaza to wear Etro Spring 2020 RTW & Balmain Spring 2020 RTW

The 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards will take place on Saturday February 8, 2020.

Best Dressed of 2019

While this post has been backdated to December 2019 I didn’t actually edit and write by Best Dressed of 2019 list until we were more than halfway through with 2020. At the end of 2019 I was almost ready to hang up my hat and give up blogging. I was feeling overwhelmed trying to consistently bring content to my followers while balancing my full time job and trying to maintain a personal life. I was also feeling overwhelmed trying to figure out how to cover all of the events in an accelerated awards season. So I let things I always did, and usually enjoy doing, fall to the wayside. Well as I was looking back at Best Dressed of the Year lists for previous years as reference when talking about other wishes I knew I needed to back track and write a Best Dressed of 2019 list. Overall the year was a great year in terms of fashion. It was a slow burn at the start for the most part. Awards season was super dull. This is only the second time in nine years that I have a Best Dressed of the Year list that doesn’t have a single look from awards season. But when it came down to it the looks I fell in love with the most in 2019 came mostly from movie premieres and the Cannes Film Festival. Let’s go through my 10 favorite looks from last year. 1) Angelina Jolie in custom Ralph & Russo Couture at the London premiere of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil:  Angelina makes her first Best Dressed of the Year list appearance since 2013. Funny thing? The last appearance she made was also thanks to a custom Ralph & Russo Couture look. Angie is a regal queen and I always look forward to seeing what she will bring to the red carpet. When I saw her step onto the red carpet at the premiere of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in London wearing this magical pale grey Ralph & Russo Couture intricately beaded cape gown my heart soared. This is always what I want Angelina to look like on the red carpet. It was regal perfection from head to toe. This look immediately made me think of a warrior goddess and Angie just wafted up this red carpet with real presence. So when I was putting this list together nothing gave me the same wow moment so of course it tops my Best of 2019 list. 2) Sarah Paulson in custom Prada at the London premiere of GLASS: This was the first look last year I remember loving. This pink Prada gown with green hand painted flames on the hem inspired by brands Spring 2012 RTW collection and was reissued by Miuccia for the Fall 2018 Menswear collection. This look is fun and statement making. It was a risk. That is one of the things I love most about Sarah. She isn’t afraid to take risks. Honestly I can’t believe that this is the first time that Sarah has made one of my Best Dressed of the Year lists. I have always been a fan of her style, but everything about this look from the jade Irene Neuwirth tassel earrings to the emerald marbled acrylic Edie Parker clutch this look made this a major pop art inspired glamour moment.

3) Naomi Scott in custom Burberry at the London premiere of Aladdin: A movie star was born on the red carpet at the London premiere of Aladdin. When I saw Naomi Scott wearing this pale sky blue strapless custom Burberry column gown which features an intricately beaded satin sweetheart neckline bustier bodice, a draped pants waist detail, and a column skirt my jaw dropped. It was the first custom gown from the Riccardo Tisci era of the British fashion house I fell in love with, and there hasn’t been any since. The look is definitely not an easy look to pull off, but Naomi brought the look to like with sleek effortless ease.

4) Zendaya in custom Vera Wang at the Emmy Awards: For the most of the year it was rumored that Zendaya was going to be cast as Ariel in the new Disney live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. In August it was announced that Halle Bailey was cast in the role. Well on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards weeks later Zendaya showed Disney just how right she could have been for the role. (I want to be clear I am very excited to see just how fantastic Halle does.) This emerald green custom Vera Wang one shoulder gown which features an exposed sheer paneled bustier, draped silk charmuse, a thigh high split, and matching satin Brian Atwood pumps was phenomenal and Zendaya rocked it with effortless sex appeal. The flowing red waves and Cartier jewels finished this look perfection. 5) Katy Perry in Carolina Herrera Spring 2020 RTW at the David Lynch Foundation ‘Silence The Violence’ Benefit: Everyone knows I love quirky, dramatic takes on glamour so it should come as no surprise that I LOVED seeing Katy Perry wearing this blush pink satin Carolina Herrera Spring 2020 RTW strapless ballgown overlaid with black polka dotted white tulle and features a dramatic side ruffle and a bow detailed ribbon waist. This gown isn’t something I think I would have even thought of as an option for Katy as I was looking at the runway looks, but I am glad that her stylist Samantha Burkhart did. The sleek retro curled bob and the pearl tiara from Simone Rocha all made this an absolutely major moment.

6) Tracee Ellis Ross in Marc Jacobs Spring 2019 RTW and Versace at Diana Ross’s 75th Birthday: Diana Ross turned 75 this year and for her birthday celebration her fashionista daughter Tracee Ellis Ross paid tribute to her mothers iconic style. Tracee posted her outfit on Instagram which consisted of a coral Marc Jacobs Spring 2020 RTW feathered coat paired with a peachy pink Versace Spring 2020 RTW crystal embellished cocktail dress and sunset pink to orange crystal embellished Christian Louboutin pointed toe pumps. The sleek bowl style bob, defined eyes, lashes for days, and coral pink lips all added the perfect finishing touches to this look.

7) Elle Fanning in custom Christian Dior Couture at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood: When Elle Fanning was announced at a jury member of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival I was hoping that it was going to include many major moments. Many will be SHOCKED to see that I have included a look from Christian Dior by Maria Grazia Chiuri in a Best Dressed of the Year List. Honestly I am a little bit too, but Elle really did the thing when she stepped out on the red carpet at the festival premiere of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood wearing this new take on the iconic Christian Dior “New Look” it was amazing. It was unexpected and elegant. More casual than what I would have expected but it was amazing. The custom Steven Jones hat really made this look. It wouldn’t have been the same without it. 8) Elsa Hosk in custom Etro at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of A Hidden Life: The Cannes Film Festival is always an event that delivers major Best Dressed of the Year worthy fashion moments and 2019 was no other. I have never not included looks from the film festival in my Best Dressed of the Year List and that didn’t change this year. Etro got a new VIP director this year and we saw all kinds of looks from the label on the red carpets. The most successful was the rainbow sherbet color blocked gown with a dramatic train and a plunging neckline worn by Elsa Hosk for the premiere of A Hidden Life. It was an obvious homage to the Halston gown worn by Lauren Hutton to the 1975 Oscars. There was not denying that. To me a look that is such a literal homage is even more difficult to pull off because if you do not do it right then it just doesn’t work. Elsa balanced the bohemian vibes from Lauren with modern dramatic glamour perfectly which is why she earned a spot on this list.

9) Cardi B in Chanel Fall 2019 RTW at the Chanel Spring 2020 RTW Presentation: There was a buzz in Paris because Cardi B was in the city ahead of the Chanel Spring 2020 RTW presentation. I remember hearing rumors that she was going to be invited to the show but nothing was confirmed. Well when she stepped onto the set for the photographers wearing a full Chanel Fall 2019 RTW ensemble which featured a black and white houndstooth print floor length trench coat, a winter white and black window pain plaid tweed jumpsuit, matching wide brimmed hat, and a black leather quilted bag Cardi showed us that she really is a fashion force to be reckoned with. I’ve never included a front row ensemble in a Best Dressed of the Year list, but this is such a a major fashion moment I couldn’t not include it.

10) Elle Fanning in custom Gucci at the Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony: Rounding out this list is another look from Elle Fanning’s tenure as a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival. I knew when it was first announced that she would be on the jury that she would give us some major fashion moments, and she did not disappoint. She opened the festival giving us 1940’s femme fatale glamour wearing this custom peachy cream silk charmuse caped gown which features a plunging neckline, purple floral embroidery, and a dramatic cape. I think a man named Erik Anderson on Twitter said it best: “When you’ve just murdered your husband that morning but still have to murder the red carpet later.” This look was absolute perfection from head to toe. All glamour all the time.

2019 Venice Film Festival: “Joker” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Most of the time when I am talking about a comic book movie premiere it is for a promo tour that is screening in LA or London. Todd Phillips Joker is not going to be average though. The Warner Bros. produced DC film is being run as a contender for awards season. It will be making its world premiere in competition at the 2019 Venice Film Festival. When it comes to Oscar buzz Gold Derby has Joker listed as a leading contender for a Best Actor nomination for Joaquin Phoenix, a strong contender for a Best Picture nomination, and a possible contender for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Robert De Niro. So that means that this is definitely one of the red carpets to watch. Zazie Beetz might not have any Oscar buzz behind her performance in Joker, but she is definitely one of my ones to watch heading into the fall festival season and awards season. She has been gaining traction with her red carpet repertoire thanks to her stylist Jason Bolden. He has dressed Zazie in Thom Browne, Ralph Lauren, and Stella McCartney this year alone and I have a feeling that this promo tour is going to mean even more major looks from the rising fashionista. I love that Zazie is quirky and isn’t afraid to share that with the world on the red carpet. So I definitely kept that in mind as I was picking the perfect looks for her to wear when in Venice promoting Joker. For the films photocall I would love to see Zazie wearing this Chloe Resort 2020 ensemble which features a white ruffled short sleeve peasant blouse with a v neckline and a pair of khaki brown high waisted wide leg pants which feature a pin stripe cuff hem. It is an easy moment but incredibly chic and I think it would be perfect for a film festival photocall, especially if paired with a teased out high ponytail, natural makeup, burgundy lips, and brown Chloe ‘Rylee’ cutout and buckled ankle boots. For the premiere I decided to turn back to Thom Browne. The iconic designer dress Zazie in a “Bride-Groom” Frankenstein gown for the Met Gala earlier this year and I am just hoping that forged a relationship that will continue to build over the coming weeks and months. Thom Browne is an underutilized designer who knows how to deliver amazing fashion moments for the red carpet. I don’t utilize his designs enough both direct from the runway or as source of inspiration for custom gowns. I did however immediately think of the designer when I saw that Joker was confirmed for Venice. I turned to his Fall 2019 Menswear collection as the source of inspiration for this amazing custom gown. Thom sent patchwork gowns created of different pieces of mens suits down this runway. One in particular had a similar off the shoulder neckline paired with a white button down shirt. For this custom gown Evita took sequined black, white, and red miss matched stripes and plaids to create this off the shoulder mermaid gown which features a dramatic train. Keeping the white shirt idea going I decided that instead this look would work better with a short sleeve version for Zazie. A sleek braided bun updo, smokey eyes, fire engine red lips, a pair of black crepe satin Christian Louboutin ‘Antinorina Strass’ pointed toe asymmetrical crystal embellished strappy d’Orsay pumps, and Anita Ko ‘Ava’ diamond wreath earrings would definitely add the perfect finishing touches to this look for a Venice Film Festival premiere. Italian fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni will be debuting a documentary at this years Venice Film Festival so I am really interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpet. Typically her style is very feminine and flirty, sometimes bohemian; always glamorous. I want to see Chiara definitely bring something super dazzling to the red carpet at this years festival. She is definitely a slave to the brand and it will honestly shock me if the head of VIP PR for Etro doesn’t grab up Chiara as one of his many lovely ladies on the festivals red carpet. Instead of something red, pink, or really anything pastel (all colors I typically associate with Chiara) I decided I wanted to go down the darker metallic route to create the perfect moment for Chiara to bring to life on this red carpet. I sent Evita some patterns and sequins from the Etro Fall 2019 RTW collection and she turned them into this amazing custom strapless gown which features a sweetheart neckline, patterns turned into beaded embroidery on the bodice, and a liquid sheath skirt that drapes into a long train that trails behind her. This gown gives major sexy mermaid vibes and I can definitely see Chiara bringing this gown to life on this red carpet. Style it with old Hollywood waves, simple defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, grey Jimmy Choo ‘Mimi’ strappy leather sandals, and a pair of Pomellato ‘Victoria’ pendant earrings which feature diamond-dusted clasps and elongated, jet bodies and I know that Chiara will bring her absolute a-game. As I have now mentioned every day since I started posting my Venice wishes I am hoping that jury member Stacy Martin will deliver major fashion moments on the red carpet over the course of the festival. I pulled over 80 looks both runway and custom for her to wear on the red carpets over the course of the 11 day festival. Now while I would love to see her on a red carpet every day of the festival I know that isn’t likely. I want to at least see her on five or six big red carpets over the course of the festival. As I was pulling the looks for my “closet” of options for Stacy I knew that I had to feature this black Chanel Fall 2019 RTW gown which features structured ruffled sleeves, a drop waist, a pleated skirt, and crystal embellished buttons down the bodice. It is a very chic moment while I do feel like Virginie Viard’s Chanel is just an extension of Karl’s vision for the brand I do think that this gown would be amazing on Stacy. It fits her edgy take on glamour and would be perfectly styled with a loose updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black satin Roger Vivier “Bow Strass” sandals, and simple Chopard white diamond pendant drop earrings.

The 2019 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday August 28, 2019 and runs through Saturday September 7, 2019.

2019 Venice Film Festival: “Ad Astra” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

As I mentioned yesterday the Venice Film Festival is definitely one of the early stops for movies on the road to the Oscars. Last year three Oscar winners screened at Venice and so I am definitely checking in on that as I go through the films screening at this years festival. Ad Astra by James Gray is one of those possible films. Looking at Gold Derby of the Big 8 Awards (Picture, Director, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Adapted Screenplay, and Original Screenplay) Ad Astra is a strong contender for Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Brad Pitt, and Best Supporting Actress for Ruth Negga and a possible contender for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Tommy Lee Jones. So I am really excited to see what the cast of this film will bring to the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival premiere. I would imagine it will be their absolute A-game. It has been a real hot minute since Liv Tyler has done a major red carpet. There was a period of time where Liv delivered major moments and I am hoping that when she steps out for the Venice Film Festival premiere of Ad Astra that she is on top her her style game. I decided to go with two designers Liv loves. For the films photocall I decided to go with Givenchy. I love this pink knit midi dress from the Givenchy Resort 2020 collection which features red lace trim, a mock turtleneck, long sleeves, and an a-line skirt. It is very in tune with Liv’s more conservative sense of style, but I wonder if it would be too warm for her to wear for an August red carpet. If she is willing to brave the end of a warm Italian summer on her way from her hotel to the hall where the photocall and press conference take place then I definitely think she should. Now a loose pulled back casual updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of red Givenchy ‘G Heel’ suede low block heel sandals would finish this look in a perfectly chic manner. For the premiere I decided to go with one of Liv’s old friends Stella McCartney. Both are the kids of Rock & Roll royalty and I can almost bet that she will design something super special for Liv to wear at some point during this tour. I love this black custom Stella McCartney long sleeve column gown which features strong shoulders, a rounded edge plunging v-neckline, a sweeping train, all over beading, and beaded fringe detailing the bodice and sleeves for Liv. It is glamour defined and I think that is exactly what we will see from her on this red carpet. She would definitely make this the major glam moment I am crazing from her by styling this gown with old Hollywood Veronica Lake waves, smokey eyes, red lips, a black Christian Louboutin ‘Palmette’ crystal embellished clutch, a pair of simple black Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ leather and PVC strap sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet collection baroque inspired diamond and emerald drop earrings. Given the fact that Ruth Negga is listed as a strong contender for an Oscar nomination right now I would imagine that she will be on her A-game during this promo tour. I decided to go with a bit of a surprising choice for the look I want to see Ruth wearing for the photocall. People who follow Ruth’s fashion journey would expect that she will wear either Louis Vuitton or Valentino for this promo tour. Instead of turning to the obvious I decided that I really would love to see Ruth wearing this black lace detail floral print Etro Fall 2019 RTW crepe mini dress which features high neck, long sheer sleeves, and a button-fastening keyhole at back. Etro’s new director of VIP Relations definitely hustled hard dressing all kinds of stars during the Cannes Film Festival last year. He actually was formerly the head of VIP at Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy which were all over the red carpets at big film festivals, so I would imagine that we will once again see Etro dominate in Venice and I believe this dress is perfect for Ruth. Now I would leave the silver metal belt at home instead opting for a pair of black suede Aquazzura lace up peep toe pumps, defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of black and gold Louis Vuitton ‘La Boum’ cat eye sunglasses to make this look absolutely perfect. For the premiere I did go with more of an expected choice for Ruth to bring to life on the red carpet. I turned to Louis Vuitton and the brands Cruise 2020 collection as the source of this custom gown. the floral sequin embroidered bodice of this gown came off a look was was so over styled with velvet and satin. Evita, whom edits these custom gowns for me, took that bodice and added the gold beaded panels down the side with the champagne sequin stripe down the center to create this uber amazing custom Louis Vuitton column gown. This gown could easily be one of the best Louis Vuitton custom red carpet moments ever and I believe that Ruth would definitely make this gown come to life on this red carpet. A chic fingerwave hairstyle, defined smokey eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a pair of gold Aquazzura ‘Linda’ metallic leather strappy sandals, and glamorous 18k gold set Bulgari diamond and emerald fringe chandelier earrings would definitely finish this look in a very glamorous manner. It could definitely make for a major Best of Venice contender. I am praying that Jury member Stacy Martin will continue her major fashion run from the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. She brought so many chic fashion moments to the red carpets and it has made me really excited to see what all she will cook up for the red carpets in Venice. I am definitely mixing up my labels for Stacy taking her from her small normal comfort zone of labels and expanding those horizons with these wishes. I want to see Stacy really bring the glamour to Venice and this midnight blue silk jersey halter gown which features a silver sequined bustier from the Schiaparelli Fall 2019 Couture collection would definitely be a very glamorous step for Stacy to take out of her comfort zone. This chic gown is the perfect meshing of classic elegance and modernity. While the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival is a great platform for big gowns with long trains I think that this simplistic silhouette is great for Stacy to make sure she is giving a wide variety of styles over the course as her run as a jury member. Stye this gown with a wavy hairstyle pinned behind the ears, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of navy satin Roger Vivier ‘Viv’ bling buckle platform sandals, and Chopard ‘Magic Setting’ white diamond floral drop earrings to ensure that this look is head to toe perfection. Like Cannes the Venice Film Festival red carpets are also filled with the glamour of brand ambassadors. The official beauty sponsor of the 2019 Venice Film Festival is Armani Beauty. This is the second year that Armani Beauty has sponsored the festival. Last year it meant that friends of the brand made the jaunt to the city of canals to help celebrate the brand and the films that were screening. Cate Blanchett continued her reign as the queen of Armani last year presiding over two premieres wearing the brand on the red carpet at the Lido. I would be SHOCKED if Cate doesn’t once again make the trip to Venice to walk the red carpet for Armani as she is still the face of the brands perfume “Si.” I would love to see Cate deliver a very 50’s/60’s glam moment wearing this oyster silver satin Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture strapless a-line gown which features intricate beaded embellishments on the bodice and a pleated skirt. I definitely think that this gown would take the right person to really make it work on the red carpet. The pleated skirt needs a statuesque woman who knows how to post regally without looking stiff, and Cate definitely knows how to do that! A vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, red lips, a silver Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ metallic leather clutch with a crystal embellished clasp, a pair of silver glitter Aquazzura ‘Soul’ sling back pointed toe pumps, and a dazzling selection of Chopard ‘Superb’ suite jewels including diamond drop earrings and a matching collar necklace would ensure that Cate delivers every ounce of glamour we have come to expect from her.

The 2019 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday August 28, 2019 and runs through Saturday September 7, 2019.

2019 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The days go by and I get more and more excited for Sunday. We have Hollywood glamour in London at the BAFTA Awards and then the biggest night in music at the Grammy Awards. This year is the perfect meshing of icons and new talent. Many stars will be attending their first Grammy’s and I am praying that they all bring their a-game to this red carpet.Beyonce is a long established Grammy’s icon and I am interested in seeing what she will wear this year. She hasn’t actually walked a red carpet in a really long time instead opting to post her own photos on Beyonce.com and then sneaking in a side door. I have heard rumors that Bey is not actually going to be in attendance this year despite three nominations this year. I would love to see Beyonce bring the sexy Studio 54 glamour to this red carpet (or just the front row of the show) wearing this white Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture suit which features asymmetrical draping, a belted peplum waist, plunging v-neckline, a single cape sleeve, and a thigh high split up one pant leg. It give very distinct Bianca Jagger vibes and I know that Beyonce could easily sell it to me on the red carpet. Fully bouncy curls, smokey eyes, dark rose pink lips, a white marbled acrylic Edie Parker ‘Jean’ box clutch, a pair of white Christian Louboutin ‘Choca Spikes’ studded strappy sandals, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels including diamond lightning bolt cluster earrings and a statement emerald cocktail ring would all make this look head to toe perfection. It was just about a year ago when I first learned who Dua Lipa was when she WOWED me on the red carpet at the BRIT Awards wearing a dramatic ruffled Giambattista Valli Couture gown. Since then she wore the brand again for the American Music Awards and I am hoping that she will make it a trifecta wearing the brand for her first Grammy Awards. She is nominated for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording. I love me some Dua Lipa music and I believe that she is going to go far. I want to see her bring the drama to this red carpet giving us Black Swan glamour wearing this black Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 Couture high low gown which features a ruffled neckline, sequined bodice, and a ruffl0ed skirt and train. I watched this show expecting to find that most glamorous, dramatic, and red carpet worthy moment for Dua to being to life on this red carpet and this one was the ultimate winner. I didn’t want to do the big ruffled ball gown or the classic structure that Dua has already brought to life, but I definitely think that this high low gown would be perfect to round out three major awards red carpets. Add a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Casablanca’ crystal buckle and PVC strap sandals, a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, and a pair of Hueb ‘Luminus’ diamond feather drop earrings and I know this look would be head to toe perfection. John Legend knows how to deliver a really chic menswear moment on the red carpet. Sometimes he goes very classic, but sometimes he pushes the boundaries. I love this burgundy velvet Etro Fall 2019 Menswear detailed with gold embroideries and satin peak lapels. It is such a statement piece that I can definitely picture John being drawn to. I would however keep the styling a little more classic adding a pair of burgundy satin tuxedo pants, a white tuxedo shirt, a matching burgundy bow tie, and a pair of black patent leather oxfords for John. That would make this a real statement menswear moment for him to bring to life on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.  Kelsea Ballerini has been bringing the fashion to the country music awards red carpets. Usually when I look at red carpet looks for country music stars I look at the Lebanese couturiers, like Elie Saab, Georges Chakra, and Zuhair Murad, but Kelsea has been delivering looks from more than just the standard level of ‘country music designers.’ I was looking for something for Kelsea to wear on this red carpet and the moment I saw this eggshell feathered caped top  and florescent orange high waisted wide leg pants from Valentino’s Spring 2019 Couture collection I thought it would be a really inspired option for Kelsea to bring to life on this red carpet. It is more of an avant garde look than Kelsea has ever worn before, but I honestly believe that she does have what it takes to really make this look come to life on the red carpet. The look itself is such a statement I would keep the styling rather simple adding a pair of gold Casadei metallic leather peep toe d’orsay sandals, a sleek side parted low bun, smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, and a pair of Irene Neuwirth diamond, black opal, turquoise, and fire opal drop earrings. Pink kicked off her Grammy week picking up the honor of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Sadly I think that is the only honor she will be picking up this week. That is a travesty because her album Beautiful Trauma was a truly emotional album for me. I have long waited for Pink to really wow me. She defintiely did that giving me feathered realness in Armani Prive at last years Grammy Awards, but it just didn’t seem like her. I was looking for the right gown for her to wear this weekend at the Grammy’s when I saw this black and white pieced tuxedo gown from Thom Browne’s Fall 2019 Menswear collection. I would never really think of menswear collections as the perfect place to find a gown for a major red carpet, but this gown is PERFECT for Pink. It meshes masculinity and femininity which is totally Pink’s style and it would be perfectly complimented with an edgy coif, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Nosy’ crepe satin, PVC, and crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, and a selection of edgy Yeprem diamonds including a single ear cuff and a whole hand cuff ring. Tiffany Haddish earned her Grammy nomination for Best Spoken Word Album for her audiobook The Last Black Unicorn. I love seeing Tiffany on the red carpet and so I am hoping that she will head out to LA to attend the Grammy’s. I thought about a gown for her, but her category is typically not announced during the main telecast and most actresses that attend that Grammy Awards do so wearing a cocktail dress. I saw this red satin Atelier Versace Spring 2019 Couture asymmetrically draped cocktail dress which features long sleeves, a wrap style skirt, sash detail, and a signature Versace safety pin detail and it just clicked for me. I know that Tiffany would absolutely sell this look to me. Add sleek center parted hair, thick defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red Christian Louboutin ‘Catchy Two’ asymmetrical peep toe platform pumps, and statement Butani diamond and ruby spiral ear clips and I know it would be a moment to remember.

The 2019 Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday February 10, 2019.
