2019 BET Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The BET Awards red carpet can be all over the place. Given the level of fashON that we have seen on the red carpets this year I am hoping that we see a more consistent sense of glamour on this red carpet. Like some of the other off season awards shows like the MTV Movie & Television Awards and the Teen Choice Awards we don’t typically see everyone who is nominated show up for the red carpet at the BET Awards. So while I may have 5 days of wishes for this red carpet I am expecting only a percentage of these stars to bring the fashion to the red carpet this weekend. Alicia Keys has made a resurgence this year. From hosting the Grammy Awards to attending the Met Gala and other events. She has been making the fashion rounds serving looks and showing me that while she had faded into the background of my mind that she shouldn’t have. Alicia is nominated for BET Her Award for her song “Raise A Man” and with stiff competition in the category I wonder if she will show up. I definitely want to see Alicia to bring up some major fashion on the red carpet at BET Awards and I think that this Alexander McQueen Fall 2019 RTW ensemble which features intricate earrings inspired crystal embellishments on a sheer netting with a bustier bodice and tapered leg pants would definitely be a major moment for Alicia to bring to life on this red carpet. Now Alicia is definitely much more modest than the average pop star, so I wonder if  she would wear the sheer bodice tunic as presented on the runway or if she would want it lined (at least up to the neckline on the bustier). Typically I would say that lining the bodice of this particular look is a bad idea, but I definitely think that on Alicia I wouldn’t even notice what the differences would be. Styling this ensemble with full bouncy curls pulled back off her face, her now signature barely there au natural makeup, a black Alexander McQueen decorative handle clutch, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Leta’ crisscross strap pointed toe pumps, and statement Amwaj diamond and ruby drop earrings would definitely make this a major fashion moment on the BET Awards red carpet. Like Alicia, Ciara is also nominated for the BET Her Award for her song “Level Up.” I always love seeing Ciara on the red carpet because she always brings her a-game and has fun with style. She takes risks, they don’t always pay off, but I applaud her for her efforts. We have never seen Valentino lend out for the red carpet at the BET Awards so the fact I’ve picked a look from the label is already a stretch let alone a couture look. I want to see Ciara bring some major style to the red carpet and I definitely think that this florescent yellow, brown, and khaki Valentino Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which features a cap sleeve crop top with an attached train, a blouson silk undershirt and a pair of high waisted loose fit pant with a sash tied belted waist would be a perfect fit for Alicia to wear on this red carpet. It gives a bit of an “urban” vibe which is a bit of a departure for the Valentino aesthetic and I just think that Ciara has the chops to make this look work on this red carpet with ease. A sleek high ponytail, defined smokey eyes, glossy deep red lips, a pair of gold and silver Aquazzura ‘Monroe Plateau’ metallic leather strappy platform sandals, and 14k gold Jennifer Fischer 3″ ‘Hollow Eternity’ hoops would definitely tie this look together perfectly. Janelle Monae typically sticks to her black and white box, but every once in a while she will ad a pop of red or pink to her vibe and last year at the BET Awards she shocked everyone wearing a rainbow Nicholas Jebran ballgown in honor of Pride Month. Will she give the same vibe this year? I don’t think so. I love that while she sticks to her black and white box, but doesn’t ever feel stale or boring. She is one of the few stars who bring Jean Paul Gaultier Couture creations to life on the red carpet and when I saw this black and white asymmetrical look from the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2019 Couture collection which features a single sleeve with a sharp shoulder, corseted waist, and asymmetrical pleated tulle skirt I knew it was perfect for Janelle. It is a sexy, bold, chic, and statement making look and very few could really sell it to me and Janelle definitely has what it takes. I wouldn’t keep Pride completely devoid in this look adding a Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Slide Bespoke Rainbow Mix Tape’ crystal embellished clutch with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Naked Bow’ PVC and Satin crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, and Maxior ‘Live Life’ blue topaz and amethyst drop earrings to make this a major moment on the BET Awards red carpet. Mary J. Blige will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this years BET Awards. When it comes to fashion Mary can be someone I either love or loathe. I don’t want to see her wearing something tacky or dated, but something glamorous and chic. I knew immediately that I wanted to see Mary bring a chic Atelier Versace moment to life on this red carpet so when I saw this seafoam green gown from the Atelier Versace Fall 2019 Couture collection which features a plunging neckline, a single slashed sleeve, draped skirt, thigh high split, and a dramatic train I knew I found the perfect look for her. The look is classic Mary without feeling dated, tired, or tacky. It checks all her boxes and I think it really is the perfect moment for her to bring to life on this red carpet especially if she styles it with a sleek braided updo, smokey eyes, mauve pink lips, gold Stuart Weitzman ‘The Merinda’ strappy metallic leather sandals, and a pair of $275,000 David Webb ‘Couture Cross River’ 18k gold and platinum set diamond tassel earrings. Today’s wishes finishes out with Best Actress nominee Taraji P. Henson, whom also happens to be one of the announced presenters. I love Taraji, but I won’t lie when I say that this year her wardrobe choices have just made me scratch my head. I want to see her bring something chic, sexy, and glamorous to this red carpet which is why I’ve picked this black and gold Fausto Puglisi Fall 2019 RTW long sleeve dress which features a deep plunging v-neckline, mirror embellished belted waist, and a diamond pattern embroidered tiered a-line mini skirt. I went back and forth on a lot of options for Taraji. I went more covered and less covered but ultimately I decided that this would be the chicest moment for her to bring to life. It would all come together perfectly with a sleek high knotted ponytail, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black and gold Jimmy Choo ‘Lilah’ strappy platform sandals, and a selection of Nikos Koulis jewels including a pair of 18k gold and diamond ‘Feelings’ chandelier earrings, an 18k gold, black enamel, and marquis cut diamond ‘Feelings’ ring, and an 18k gold and diamond ‘Feelings Double Shanke’ ring.

The 2019 BET Awards will take place on Sunday June 23, 2019.

Cannes 2019: L’Orealista’s Red Carpet Wish List Part 8

Here we are my final set of wishes for the L’Orealista’s in Cannes, but this set of wishes is different than all the rest. This list is solely dedicated to the newest L’Orealista: Celine Dion. 5 years ago I would have kept Celine in one of my regular L’Orealsita wishes just picking three gowns for her to wear on the red carpet, but given the fact that she has delivered major avant garde fashion moments on the sidewalk, red carpet, and stage over the last several years I feel like it is only apt that I dedicate an entire wish list to her. I made this decision as soon as I heard the news that she was a L’Orealista. It was a no brainer since she does have fun with fashion from her street style to her red carpet style. She genuinely LOVES fashion and isn’t afraid to experiment, so I’ve gone shopping on all the runways for 12 amazing moments for Celine to wear during her time at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. If her Met Gala lewk was any indication of the glamour train she is currently riding I cannot wait to see what she has in store for Cannes! The first looks I have on this wish lists are the “casual” moments I want to see from Celine in her street style during this years festival. I don’t do a whole lot of Cannes street style wishes, or street style wishes in general, but given her major sidewalk runway turns in Paris I know that Celine is going to definitely be serving looks from the moment she boards her private jet to head to the festival to the moment she arrives at the Nice airport to head home. Now I have set my expectations really high for Celine, maybe too high, but out of everyone I have set high expectations for Cannes moments for I believe that Celine is going to live up to my hype. So I’ve picked 4 major fashion moments for Celine to rock on the sidewalks of Cannes starting with a hot pink Balenciaga Spring 2019 graffiti print pussy bow peasant dress. We don’t see Balenciaga dress a whole lot of celebrities any more, but I feel like Celine could call up the brand and buy this dress right off the runway and that is exactly what I am hoping for. It is a major casual fashion moment, and would be elevated even more styling it with a silver Celine ‘Small 16’ laminated grained calfskin top handle bag with gold hardware, a sleek ponytail, hot pink draped velvet Balenciaga ‘Knife’ pointed toe stiletto pumps, and a pair of soft pink Tom Ford ‘Rosanna’ cat eye sunglasses. The second look I’ve picked for Celine’s ‘Street Style’ is definitely not your typical street style look, not that any of the look I’ve picked for her are, but it fits in with Celine’s style. She definitely lives by my life mantra of #WhenInDoubtBeExtra and I love that about Celine. The only reason I went into the Fausto Puglisi Fall 2019 RTW collection lookbook for Celine was to pick a fun short party dress, but then I saw this black, ivory, red, and blue baroque print and gold lame ensemble which features a color blocked long sleeve button down shirt, a mini skirt adorned with a large bow, and a trailing sash train and said “oooooo Celine would definitely rock that just to walk from her hotel to lunch.” So I ditched the party dress and picked this look for Celine to wear for her street style. Now while I have gone and really styled up with bags, shoes, and sunglasses the other looks I’ve picked for Celine to wear for Cannes street style I decided I was going to keep the lookbook thigh high boots adding just a sleek chignon, defined eyes, and crimson lips to really make this a stand out style moment for Celine. Following that is a major couture moment for Celine. She has delivered couture on the sidewalk in the past and in Cannes that is definitely not unusual. It was actually because of this slate blue Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2019 Couture ensemble which features a draped silk blouse and a fringed midi skirt that I even decided to put a street style section in this list at all. I was searching for perfect gowns and cocktail looks for Celine to wear for premieres and parties and then I saw this look and the idea just clicked. One thing I love about Celine is that more often than not no matter how statement making the clothing item may be that she still does up the styling with her looks. I would add more statement pieces to this look including a black and blue floral print Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Boite Chapeau’ miniature hat box top handle bag and a pair of strappy black Chloe Gosselin ‘Clara’ suede sandals with a sleek low ponytail and a coral pink lip to make this a major statement moment for Celine’s sidewalk style. The final street style look I’ve chosen for Celine is another off the runway haute couture moment. I love me a great Schiaparelli Couture moment on the red carpet, but this yellow wallpaper floral print suit just screams daywear in Cannes. Anywhere else in the world this look would be reserved for a ladies who luncheon event or a semi formal cocktail affair, but in Cannes anything goes and wearing this couture look on a Starbucks run (yea right like Celine is going to be running to get her own Starbucks) wouldn’t make me bat an eyelash. Again this look is such a super statement all on its own but I would add a yellow Miu Miu ‘Madras’ top handle mini train case bag, metallic gold leather Miu Miu chunky crystal embellished sandals, a pair of Linda Farrow ‘Des Voeux’ yellow gold plated titanium mirrored cat eye sunglasses, a top knot, and punchy rose pink lips to round out a major set of daywear for Celine, whom I believe is going to be the Queen of Cannes this year. I am really hoping that Celine turns it out on the red carpet at the premieres. I have all the faith in the world that Celine is going to do just that. I had so many major options for her to bring to life at the Palais de Festivals. The first look I’ve picked for Celine is this Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture evening ensemble which features a black and white feathered bodice with beaded fringe and a black velvet flared skirt with a sweeping train. It was one of the looks I knew I was definitely going to feature in this list. It is the epitome of old Hollywood glamour. She rocked 1920’s Follies glamour for the Met Gala and now I’m going to 40’s femme fatale for the first look I want to see from her in Cannes. I’ve been obsessed with this gown since it was first presented last July and I definitely think it fits the glamour of Cannes. With a pair of black and smokey grey Jimmy Choo ‘Lisha’ plexi star patchwork crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, a sleek low bun side parted updo, defined eyes, dark pink lips, and a pair of major Chopard ‘The Garden of Kalahari’ diamond drop earrings I know that this look is red carpet ready. Following that I had to pick a Celine look for Celine to wear in Cannes. After seeing Celine on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Grammy’s, Oscars, and the Avengers premiere I was shocked that the brand didn’t dress a single person for the Met earlier this week. I am expecting that we will see plenty of the brand when it comes time for Cannes, which kicks off Monday! I have been fantasizing about Celine in Celine for a while now since Celine seems to fit Heidi’s vision for the brand. I went back to the brands Spring 2019 RTW show and found a major gold one shoulder cocktail dress that hasn’t been worn and decided that I wanted it red for Celine to deliver a major sexy glamour moment on the red carpet in Cannes. Celine doesn’t wear red very often so this would definitely be a nice change of pace for her. A loose romantic updo, defined eyes, dark red lips, a pair of red Jimmy Choo ‘Viola’ crystal embellished feather tassel sandals, and Chopard diamond and ruby drop earrings all would ensure Celine delivers this moment in the best manner possible. One of Celine’s favorite designers, traditionally, has been Elie Saab Haute Couture. She has worn his designs for her Las Vegas residency, the American Music Awards, the Oscars, and most recently for the announcement of her world tour! So it was a no brainer to me that I needed one look from the Lebanese couturier for Celine to wear for her debut in Cannes. I looked at a multitude of options and ultimately decided that this gold fully beaded halter gown which features sheer tulle construction, a sweetheart neckline, and a bit of a mermaid silhouette from the Elie Saab Spring 2019 Couture collection was perfect. Now it is a very sexy gown, at first glance this is more of a JLo, Beyonce, or Rita Ora moment, but I feel like Celine would deliver this gown in a way that none of those others would. I feel like she would make it more of a subdued sexy moment letting the gown do the talking and not over posing or giving the JLo ‘sexy stare.’ I definitely wouldn’t over style this gown for sure adding just a sleek high bun, smokey eyes, soft rose pink lips, metallic gold leather Christian Louboutin ‘Deck’ PVC paneled pointed toe t-strap pumps, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection white and yellow diamond drop earrings to make this a beautiful and glamorous moment, with just a hint of sex appeal for Celine. The final look I’ve picked for the French Canadian songstress to bring to life on the red carpet at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival is this iridescent teal Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture strapless origami bow draped mermaid gown. I LOVE this gown. I have since the moment I saw it and since it hasn’t been snatched up as of late I definitely think that it is a great fit for someone to wear in Cannes, namely Celine Dion. It has the ability to read quite young, but given a lot of Celine’s fashion choices I don’t think she minds and I don’t think it matters. She has chosen that if someone loves what they are wearing that it always look authentic. There are plenty of stars who could take notes on confidence and humility from Celine. This bold metallic teal gown is the perfect color statement for Celine to bring to life in Cannes and I think it would be perfectly styled with a sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of silver Aquazzura ‘Temptation’ crystal trimmed peep toe PVC sling back pumps, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewelry including diamond, tanzanite, paraiba tourmaline, and amethyst disc earrings and a statement tanzanite, rubellite, and amethyst paisley cuff bracelet.I mentioned that I had a hard time narrowing options for Celine to wear for the premieres because there were so many amazing options. Well when it came to picking party looks I had an even harder time. Not because I had too many options, though there definitely were a lot. It was because I felt like I couldn’t find amazing cocktail options for Celine. I probably went back and forth with some of my fashion friends for 2-3 hours the other night just trying to pick the four party looks I want to see from Celine in Cannes this year. Ultimately I put 6 looks in a collage and sent them to one friend and said “pick four and thats what I’m going to use!” Well she sent me her four and I changed one and here we are! Parties are not typically as impressive as the premieres, but with brands like Chopard, de Grisogono, Vanity Fair, and more throwing huge bashes during the Cannes Film Festival they are always fun to check in on. I can definitely expect that no matter what red carpet Celine steps onto this year that she will deliver something major each time she steps out. So I picked four looks that are *slightly* toned down from the premiere looks for her to bring to life. The first is the biggest risk of them all. I ADORE this silver Alberta Ferretti Fall 2019 RTW sequined ensemble which features a strapless peplum bustier with a plunging neckline and a pair of skin tight pants. It is definitely a risk, but to me Celine isn’t afraid to take one so that’s why I picked this major statement moment for her to bring to life this year. Pair it with a sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, red lips, silver Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ pumps, and statement Chopard Green Carpet Collection 2019 diamonds including chandelier earrings and a matching cuff bracelet to ensure that Celine would shut down one of the Chopard party red carpets. From uber sexy and dazzling to more of a feminine take on sexy dressing I would love to see Celine wearing this dusty lavender Atelier Versace Spring 2019 Couture long sleeve fully ruffled mini dress which features a plunging neckline and subtle crystal embellishments. I won’t lie I totally picked this dress for Celine because it matches a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2019 amethyst waterfall earrings that I am in love with. Now I am typically against head to toe in one color, but in this case I would style it with a sleek low bun, smokey eyes, those amazing Chopard earrings, and a pair of violet purple satin Gianvito Rossi crystal buckled embellished sandals. It would make for a major monochromatic moment for Celine. Now if you are wondering which of these looks is the one I overrode my friends choice on in favor of you need not look any further than this black and blue Jean Louis Sebaj Spring 2019 Couture asymmetrical gown which features a single sleeve draped with a cape, plunging neckline, a fitted silhouette, and a thigh high side split. I picked this in favor of a Saint Laurent mini dress with a dramatic neckline. I figured that two cocktail moments and two gown moments for Cannes parties was perfect. Now this is definitely a gown I believe we will see in Cannes this year I just hope it’s not on the back of some trashy supermodel and someone who will own the sexy of the gown, but also elevate it into a major high glam fashion moment. That is exactly what I think would happen if Celine wore this gown, especially if paired with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, light pink glossy lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas’ crystal trimmed suede sandals, and a statement Chopard diamond and sapphire drop pendant necklace. The final look I’ve chosen for Celine is another I wavered back and forth on. I didn’t want to pick the same label twice for this wish list, but every time I saw this red Zuhair Murad Fall 2019 RTW fully embroidered gown which features a plunging neckline, column silhouette, and feathered cuffs I got excited about the idea of Celine bringing it to life. So I broke my self imposed rule and went with the gown. It definitely evokes this 1940’s femme fatale glamour that we don’t often see Celine bring to life, but I just know that she has the chops to really bring a fun gown like this to life. Style it with a pair of red satin Chloe Gosselin ‘Narcissus’ ankle strap sandals, a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, and a pair of Chopard ruby, yellow sapphire, and diamond wreath earrings and I know that it would make for a major Cannes moment for Celine.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Monday May 13, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

15 Looks From Milan Fashion Week Spring 2019 I Want To See On The Red Carpet

Milan Fashion Week ended almost two and a half weeks ago, but I have just been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to get my 15 favorite looks that I want to see on the red carpet list out there. These posts take a lot of time not just because I have to go through all of the collections and narrow down all the looks down to just 15 but have to research the collections and then pick who I want to see wearing the looks on the red carpet. Over the course of Milan Fashion Week I saved over 350 looks that I think have red carpet potential. These looks cover everything from major gowns to cocktail moments to chic casual looks for press events to edgy performance looks. I went through all of those collections and narrowed them down to the following 15. These are the looks from Milan Fashion Week – Spring 2019 that I want to see on a red carpet.Attico: One of the brands that I have loved watching grow over the last year is Attico. It is one of the chicest, very Italian brands who deliver very wearable glamour in their collections. For Spring 2019 RTW the collection was a major love letter to the 80’s and I definitely think we will see many looks from he collection on the red carpet. Over the last year stars have really embraced the brand for cocktail and press appearances. In fact Olga Kurylenko has already brought a feathered buster and leather cargo pants ensemble from the brands Spring 2019 RTW collection to life for the London premiere of Jenny English Strikes Again. I went for more a simple look from this collection for Jennifer Lopez with this lilac and orange creamsicle fluid pois jacquard ‘Pat’ dress which features puff shoulders, faux wrap style, a v-neckline, a tie detail at waist, and embellished shoulder details. This dress is very chic and wearable and if JLo rocked this for a press stop during her upcoming movie promo tour I think it would be perfection.

Dolce & Gabbana: In the wake of Stefano Gabbana calling Selena Gomez, whom Dolce & Gabbana had dressed several times over the years, ugly it seemed like the Time’s Up movement was going to really push a boycott of the brand. However since the brand is such a fashion powerhouse I don’t think is going to stop stars from wearing the brand on the red carpet. In fact Cardi B just wore a dramatic gown from this collection on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Aside from that Domenico & Stefano showed a collection that really embraced all of the codes that they have infused into the brands DNA over the last 33 years. The show was a celebration of women, a diverse group of women. There were women of different sizes, every color, and many age groups. It was actually really beautiful. The moment I saw this blue and natural sleeveless mixed-fringe midi dress which features contrasting rows of fringe and tassels throughout, a midi length, and a column silhouette I pictured it being rocked by Amal Clooney as she is spotted headed out on a date night with George.

Emporio Armani: I usually wouldn’t pay much attention to Emporio Armani, but with bold colors and sparkling embellishments my inner magpie was drawn to this collection. This faction of the Armani brand is usually geared towards a younger crowd and I really think that there are quite a few looks that young Hollywood stars will want to fight over. I think that if anyone could really make this electric lime green and royal blue strapless jumpsuit which features intricate sequin and feathered embroidery and I definitely think it would be Halsey.Ermanno Scervino: When you look at an Ermanno Scervino collection you know you are going to get two things volume and glamour. The brand is known for those and doesn’t veer from that very often. While you don’t get boundary pushing designs like you can find at other Milan based brands like Marni, Prada, or Gucci you know that there will be great red carpet options from Ermanno Scervino. Orange is a huge trend for Spring 2019 RTW and I think that Jasmine Sanders would be the perfect person to bring this Ermanno Scervino Spring 2019 RTW orange tea length gown which features a strapless sweetheart neckline and dramatic ruffles offering of the trend to life on the red carpet.

Etro: While Etro is a very successful brand when it comes to sales they don’t often get a whole lot of red carpet love. The brand, known for bold eccentric prints, doesn’t focus on celebrities to influence sales likes some other brands so when they do end up on a red carpet I get very excited. There aren’t a whole lot of looks from the Etro Spring 2019 RTW collection that I think could be red carpet looks, but this black white and yellow floral print one shoulder gown is definitely one that I think could be really chic. I think that if anyone could really make this look work, probably on one of the more causal party red carpets, it would be supermodel turned actress Suki Waterhouse.

Fausto Puglisi: In an off season from showing a runway show Fausto Puglisi showed an 80’s Flashdance inspired collection in a presentation/lookbook. The collection was very much repetitive, but it is definitely something that I think many music stars will be drawn to. While I typically pick red carpet looks for this list it was this cape meets letterman jacket and color blocked swimsuit that really spoke to me from this collection. I immediately pictured Rita Ora rocking this look for one of her many performances. Giorgio Armani: I wasn’t thrilled with the Giorgio Armani Spring 2019 RTW. I was hoping for really amazing things, but I was rather underwhelmed with what Mr. Armani sent down the runway. The fit of the collection overall was terrible and the color palette reminded me of a Dixie disposable cup. I do however want to thee this Monet ‘Waterlilies’ inspired print beaded fringe cap sleeve jumpsuit which features a plunging v-neckline, and cutout sides and back on the red carpet and wouldn’t supermodel Karolina Kurkova just really deliver this look with ease on the red carpet?

Marni: Marni is one of the rarest brands on this list to see on the red carpet. It used to be a favorite of Anna Wintour, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Carey Mulligan. It had a hit H&M collaboration. But we don’t often see the brand on the red carpet anymore. I will say there weren’t too many looks from the Spring 2019 RTW collection that I think have what it takes to make a really chic red carpet moment (plenty of items that can be incorporated into your personal wardrobe though,) but this neutral canvas sleeveless midi dress which features a ruched exaggerated waist, a gathered a-line skirt, and blue hand-painted floral detail throughout made Keira Knightley pop into my mind. It could be a really chic press look while she is out promoting The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

Missoni: In the last year we have seen a revitalized celebrity love of Milan based knitwear brand Missoni on the red carpet. The brand has been back to more creative looks than just reinventing its signature multicolored zig zag print over and over again. It’s almost like the brand has gone through a bit of a renaissance again. While incredibly easy to wear knits were the focus of the brands Spring 2019 RTW collection there were a handful of looks that I could definitely see celebrity stylists vying to get their hands on. One of those looks was this slate blue sheer halter gown which features layers of metallic knit layers. This is a very easy glam moment and the moment I saw it I immediately thought it would be something that Zoe Saldana would be drawn to. Moschino: There was a bit of controversy surrounding Jeremy Scott’s Spring 2019 Collection for Moschino. Edda Gimnes, a Norwegian womenswear designer based in London, accused Scott to taking un-credited inspiration from one of her collections that heavily featured a marker print as did this collection, but I have to say that the kitschy (campy) spirit of this print is something that has been in the Moschino archive for many years. He gave several examples of this technique in his defense including a Moschino ad campaign from 1986 and a jacket (similar to the one shown above) shown in the Moschino Spring 1992 collection. I loved the major artist doodle pad meets Pretty Woman vibe that was given in this collection. Jeremy is one of the masters, and I definitely think that the MET Museum picked wrong in its choice of designer co-chairs for next years MET Gala. The show started strong with the black and white trompe-l’œil print crepe suit which features a bow front blazer and a pair of tapered pants and just continued to deliver hit look after hit look. I was taken with that suit because it seemed to be the perfect meshing of the brands signature camp and a sense of wearability and I definitely think that it is something that Evan Rachel Wood would rock on a red carpet. No one does a suit on a red carpet quite like ERW.

No. 21: Every season I always find one look from No. 21 to feature on my lists. I love the brand. From the chic clothing it creates to amazing iconic accessories I just think that the brand exudes wearable glamour. I also feel like the brand is totally underrated when it comes to the red carpet. It has attracted the likes of Constance Wu, Dakota Fanning, Diane Kruger, and Jessica Chastain in the last year or so. I want to see stars snatch up looks from the Spring 2019 RTW collection including this sequin fringe ‘Anne’ dress features a sleeveless knit dress underneath an embellished outer layer with a fitted silhouette which I definitely think Amber Heard should snatch up for press appearances for Aquaman.

Roberto Cavalli: I was less than impressed with Paul Surridge’s debut as the Roberto Cavalli creative director a year ago. He just didn’t seem to have that same sense of sex and flash that is at the core of the Cavalli DNA, but considering some of the couture gowns he’s created for Olivia Wilde, Sara Sampaio, Joan Smalls, and Alessandra Ambrosio in addition to his Resort 2019 collection I think that he could have a place at the house, he just has a steep learning curve to live up to the likes of Mr. Cavalli himself and even former creative director Peter Dundas. I do believe that he did a better job of balancing his tailoring experience with the hyper sexuality of the Cavalli woman this season. I actually want to see several of the looks from this collection on the red carpet and I definitely think that Olivia Wilde would take this terracotta colored long sleeve midi dress which features a sheer long sleeve beaded bodice with a plunging neckline and a ruched a-line midi skirt and make it a really chic red carpet moment. Is it the sexy mini dresses that Surridge also presented in this collection? No, but I still think that it defines the Cavalli woman. Salvatore Ferragamo: Like the new Cavalli creative director I was less than enthused with Paul Andrew’s (the shoe designer whose eponymous line I LOVE) debut at Salvatore Ferragamo back in February, but now he has had a look on both my Best of Resort 2019 and my Best of Milan Fashion Week Spring 2019 lists. The collections have gotten stronger and stronger. There were several looks from his newest collection that I think are destined for casual events like press interviews and then gowns that are perfect for gala’s. I think that for one of the more edgier, “artistic” galas that Olivia Munn would rock this suede macramé dress layered over indocina silk slip dress features a sleeveless body with a straight, fitted silhouette and full length with fringe hem. It is edgy and glamorous and I definitely think with her inherent sex appeal that Olivia radiates on the red carpet would really ensure this look is perfection.

Sportmax: I don’t usually bother looking at Sportmax collection typically. The looks that the brand send down the runway aren’t typically what I feature here on If I Was A Stylist, but something told me to check out this seasons collection. I’m glad I did. The brand had more of a dazzling air to it this season compared to the more day to day sportswear vibe we typically see from the brand. I fell in love with this silver and blue ‘Ciriaco’ dress designed with slits on both sides, sequin detailing throughout, a haltered neckline, and a midi length hem the moment I saw it. Is it anything really innovative or boundary pushing when it comes to style? No, but it is just a fun dazzling party look that I think would be perfect for Tiffany Haddish.

Vionnet: Finishing out this list is the always beautiful Vionnet. The label established in 1912 and revitalized in 2009 has been one of the brands that I feel is very underrated. When it first relaunched it was a celeb favorite, but in recent years that love has waned. I want to see the brand, which has been working at becoming a leader in sustainable luxury, have a resurgence as a celebrity favorite. It isn’t one of the edgy boundary pushing labels that we typically see on the fashion week circuit, but I think that the glamorous draping is perfect for the red carpet. It has been a hot minute but Naomie Harris was a fan of Vionnet and I definitely think that she would be the perfect person to bring this beige and hot pink tulle draped gown which features a silver waistband, plunging v-neckline, and a sheer skirt to life on a red carpet.

So there you have it my 15 favorite looks that came down the Milan Fashion Week runways for Spring 2019 RTW. Which ones do you want to see on the red carpet and who do you want to see bring it to life?

2018 Teen Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

We are gearing up for the first major red carpet in a very busy month with the 2018 Teen Choice Awards. August starts off with some big pop culture red carpets like the Teen Choice Awards and the VMA’s and then starts fall film festival season with the opening of the Venice Film Festival. It is pretty much wall to wall glamour from here on out. The red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards is probably the most casual event of the month and I have to say I am really excited to see what all of the stars will bring to the red carpet. Anna Kendrick is nominated for Choice Comedic Movie Actress for her performance in Pitch Perfect 3 and Choice Twit and will also be one of the many presenters of the night. I had originally decided that I wasn’t going to pick a look for Anna because despite the fact that she is nominated I didn’t expect that we would see her on this red carpet. But since she is presenting, and has a movie coming out, I guess it does make sense. This surprisingly the first time that Anna will make an appearance at the show. I wanted something really chic and very summery for Anna to bring to this red carpet so I felt like this black and white draped Vionnet Resort 2019 wrap style dress which features a notch lapels, short sleeves, and a purple ribbon tie on the hip would be a real perfect moment for her to bring to this red carpet. I think that with easy waves, defined eyes, rose pink lips, and a pair of lilac Salvatore Ferragamo ‘Foulard’ patent leather sandals all would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Last year Halsey was nominated for three Teen Choice Awards including Choice Breakout Artist, unfortunately she lost all three and didn’t end up attending the ceremony. This year she is only nominated for Choice Song: Female Artist for “Bad At Love” and I would love to see the singer rock the red carpet at this years red carpet wearing this black Fausto Puglisi Resort 2019 skater dress which features a plunging neckline, a gold embellishment detailed and leather waist, and a mini length. This is a sexy and statement making moment and I think that Halsey would definitely own this look on the red carpet. I went through many different shoe options to pair with this look, but I ultimately thought that a pair of antique gold Casadei crossover strap platform sandals would be perfect to compliment this dress for this red carpet. A short punky hairstyle, smokey eyes, and rose pink lips all would really make sure that this is an absolutely chic and sexy moment for Halsey to bring to this red carpet. As I have gone through my wishes for this red carpet over the last several days I have really made my wishes known that I want to see a more elevated level of glamour on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet. I don’t know if I believe that will happen, but a guy can dream right? Maddie Ziegler is nominated for Choice Dancer for the fourth time. The very talented dancer rose to fame thanks to the Lifetime show Dance Moms. She has then been a darling of pop star Sia and has started to become a darling of the fashion industry. I would love to see Maddie bring some major flirty glamour to the red carpet wearing this blue, yellow, and white print Chanel Cruise 2019 mini dress which features ruffled shoulders and hem. I really don’t know if Maddie has earned enough fashion clout to be able to snatch one of Chanel’s newest collections right off the runway, but I do think that this is a very chic moment for Maddie and it is the fun and flirty look I think would work perfectly on this red carpet especially when paired with a sleek ponytail, defined eyes, bright pink lips, and a pair of two tone blue Alexandre Birman tied ankle strap sandals. Nina Dobrev is no stranger to the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards. She has been nominated several times and won several as well. She may not be nominated this year, but we will see her on the red carpet this year as one of the nights many presenters. In the past we have seen Nina wearing designs from Zuhair Murad, J. Mendel, Vionnet, and D&G and with her working with Kate Young as her stylist now I am really interested in seeing what she will bring to this red carpet this year. When I think of Kate’s work I don’t usually think of the Teen Choice Awards, but I think that she could help bring that elevated glamour to this red carpet that I am craving. I feel like Nina would totally rock this red carpet wearing this coastal blue denim Ralph Lauren Spring 2018 RTW acid wash cocktail dress which features a square neckline with spaghetti straps and a feather embellished skirt. It is chic and flirty while being very grown up and glamorous. It is exactly what I want to see on the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards. Add a romantic updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a silver M2malletier metallic handle clutch, and silver Aquazzura ‘Linda’ metallic sandals to really round out this look in a very modern and glamorous manner. It was last year at the Emmy Awards that I really took notice of Atlanta star Zazie Beetz on the red carpet when she wore a dramatic and eye catching Rosie Assoulin gown. Since then we have seen Zazie rock the red carpet in highly coveted designers like Valentino, Stella McCartney, and Chloe. I am very interested to see if the Choice Summer Movie Actress nominee will be on the red carpet at this years Teen Choice Awards. I went for a fun look with this baby rose pink Ulla Johnson Resort 2019 denim jumpsuit. It isn’t the same major designer moment that we have come to see from Zazie, but I think that Ulla Johnson is the perfect cool girl brand for her to bring to this red carpet. It is one of those easy yet chic looks that it would take the right attitude and styling to really make a major moment on the red carpet. I think that Zazie has the right attitude and I think that teased out curls, defined eyes, bright pink lips, and a pair of pink neon glitter Sophia Webster ‘Soleil’ ruffle detail leather sandals would add the perfect styling to this ensemble.

The 2018 Teen Choice Awards will take place on Sunday August 12, 2018.

16 Potential Red Carpet Moments From Resort 2019

Today we have just one more set of seasonal wish lists to close out the week. Since the Resort 2019 season kicked off back on May 3, 2018 with the Chanel Cruise 2019 presentation and just wound down during Paris Couture. Over the course of that about two month long period fashion houses staged runway shows and held presentations around the world. Aside from Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Oscar de la Renta, and Louis Vuitton most designers showed a lookbook instead of a runway show. I love this season because it is just about the clothes more so than theatrical styling. The hair and makeup are simpler. They don’t compete as much with the clothes. There are definitely many potential red carpet moments hiding in this season’s collections. Andrew Gn: Kicking off the looks that I want to see brought to life on the red carpet is this yellow and silver brocade wing sleeve gown which features an exaggerated sleeve detail, an A-line bodice, flared hem, and small train detail. It is a very flirty and feminine gown, but it will need a real statuesque woman to make it work on the red carpet and I think that Elizabeth Debicki would be the perfect person to do just that.

Badgley Mishcka: I don’t often think about Badgley Mishka anymore, but I really loved the brands Resort 2019 collection. The whole collection was a statement of glamour, and I do think that there are several chic looks that would make for chic red carpet moments. This teal, yellow, white, and red floral print tea length gown which features a v-neck, full skirt, and bold red bow detail is something that is an incredibly glamorous yet statement making moment. Someone like Sarah Hyland would really make this a chic red carpet moment, maybe for one of the pre-Emmy Awards parties?

Carolina Herrera: This season was the first season where Wes Gordon was in total control of the Carolina Herrera creative directions. He has been around consulting for the brands namesake for a couple of months, but after handing Mrs. Herrera with a bouquet of red roses he took the reigns solo. This collection was incredibly chic and it makes me forward to seeing what Wes will continue. This collection showed how seamless the transfer of power at Herrera has been. He stuck to the codes of the brand to a T. It was the epitome of femininity and stars are already giving love to this collection on the red carpet. We have already seen Brie Larson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Goya Toledo, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Tao Okamoto all rocking looks from this collection on the red carpet. As soon as I flipped to this white one shoulder tea length gown which features rainbow stripes and a full ball skirt I knew that I wanted to see Emilia Clarke rock it on a red carpet. It could be a really chic moment and I think that if anyone could make it the perfect effortless moment on the red carpet it would be her.

David Koma: Sexy, structure, and beading are the main codes at David Koma. Coming off the heels of him exiting as the creative director of Mugler I was expecting to see Mr. Koma invest more creative capital in his own brand, but we definitely did not see that this season. It was more of just what we have come to love, and expect, from the brand, but there were still several red carpet moments that came out of this collection. Usually when I see something like this blue embellished strong shoulder dress which features an asymmetrical side slit hem and a v-neckline I would think of Jennifer Lopez, but this time it was a different Jennifer (Jennifer Lawrence) that came to mind. While I think that JLo would absolutely kill this dress on the red carpet with some sparkly black Louboutin’s I also think that it would be an unexpected edgy glam moment for JLaw as well. Fausto Puglisi: I have to say that I often feel like Fausto Puglisi is very repetitive when it comes to his runway looks. I have to say that when I look back at his Resort 2019 collection it was pretty much more of the same, but it was done so well it wasn’t till I typed those words that I realized how much of the collection is a seasonal reinterpretation of a classic Fausto Puglisi piece. The brand is known for this sexy cut that also seems to have and ode to ancient Rome, and that is exactly what we got from him this season but with bold color and color-blocking. My favorite look from the collection was this bold and black, lilac, and red asymmetrical color block long sleeve column gown which features a v-neck, grommet stud detailing, and fit and flare silhouette and I really want to see Suki Waterhouse bring it to life on the red carpet, and I think that is because the model reminds me of her.

Fendi: Fendi is the only brand that has made my potential red carpet moments lists for Fall 2018 Couture, Spring 2019 Menswear, and now Resort 2019. I don’t know what is the water that Karl has been drinking when he designs Fendi, but it has been inspired. While the iconic Fendi ‘Zucchino’ logo print is nothing new it has had a resurgence in the last year or so. In fact logo prints have been back across the board from Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel. So this teal and red ensemble which features a short sleeve button down top with a wide collar and a matching wrap style skirt which with features a buckle waist detail, pleating, and an asymmetrical hemline is a bold modern moment on this classic Fendi print. I’m not usually one for in your face logo prints, but I do love this look and I feel like someone who doesn’t flaunt brand like Naomi Watts would really bring this look to life for a casual red carpet appearance.

Gucci: Watching the Gucci Resort 2019 show, which was located at medieval cloisters in Arles, France with fire lighting the runway, was like partaking in a religious experience. Maybe Alessandro was inspired in part by this years Met Gala theme. He encapsulated the inspiration behind the collection by saying that tit was inspired by a rave in a cemetery. The styling was as over the top as ever. You don’t see robotic and repetitive styling from Alessandro’s Gucci, ever. The styles that came down the runway were hard to digest in most cases. There was so much layering, almost too many accessories, props, and patterns that things got lost in translation for me. One look I did really love, but have absolutely no idea where it would be worn, is the black velvet midi gown which features blouson 3/4 length sleeves, a watteau neckline, and a 3D rib cage embellishing the bodice. It is the beauty in the grotesque and it only marginally works. It definitely would take the right person to make me fall in love with this look off the runway. Lady Gaga is really the only person that springs to mind, but with her promoting A Star Is Born under her birth name I wonder if we will see looks like this from the eccentric singer turned actress.

Louis Vuitton: When I watched the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2019 show I thought of all the potential that lies within the codes set forth in the collection that could lead to custom gowns. In fact in the days following the release of this collection me and my friend Evita from For The Love of Red Carpet Fashion (and the person who does all the custom gown edits) came up with custom design ideas for almost 40 custom Louis Vuitton gowns inspired by what came down the runway during this show. When it comes to runway looks I tend to get very bored with Louis Vuitton very fast because it has to many brand ambassadors that they over saturate the market. I usually say that halfway through a season I am ready for the next one I am bored with seeing the same styles over and over again. I do however really want to see this black, white, and orange mixed print sequin mini dress which features strong ruffles shoulders, long sleeves with flared cuffs, subtle peplum detail, and a skater skirt to make a red carpet moment. There are so many Louis Vuitton devotees who I think could really sell this dress to me on the red carpet but I feel like it would be an edgier moment for someone like Ruth Negga whom we are used to seeing wear more romantic style. Marchesa: It is not a “special anniversary” season for Marchesa. In fact it came out when Marchesa is still in the throws of controversy thanks to Harvey Weinstein. Back in May right after Scarlett Johansson wore a Marchesa gown to the Met Gala stylist to the stars Ilaria Urbinati took to her Instagram with a defense of Marchesa, and its co-founder Georgina Chapman. She said “I don’t see how it’s right to have completely thrown her under the bus alongside him despite the fact that she left him. It reeks a bit of the old habit of asking the woman what SHE did wrong when the husband cheats. If anything my first instinct is not to blame her but to rally by her because i can’t even begin to imagine what she must have felt when she found out.  This is a woman whose entire life has been flipped upside down and who will have to deal with the fact that her children will grow up with a scarlet letter – a fact which i can assure you as a mother – all the money in the upper west side can never make okay.  As a stylist, putting her dresses on clients is tricky because i wouldn’t want to enforce that kind of scrutiny on a client. That would have to be their choice. But i appreciated the ballsiness of Scarlett Johansson showing up at the recent Met in one of her creations.” And I have to agree. I don’t want to see Marchesa or Georgina harmed anymore than they already have been. I want to see people who constantly wore Marchesa head back to the brand for future red carpet moments. I would love to see Kate Beckinsale snatch up this black and gold strapless ruffled gown which features a sweetheart neckline with a fit and flare bodice, golden embroidery, and a mermaid hem and make it a totally major moment. It reminds me of a Marchesa gown Kate wore back in 2010 for an Elton John event.

Maticevski: One of the most underrated designers out there right now is in my opinion is Toni Maticevski. The Melbourne based designer is a genius of draping and drama and I feel like we don’t see a lot of the brand on the red carpet. It has a celebrity fan base that includes Ciara, Solange Knowles, Aishwarya Rai, Lily Collins, and Sonam Kapoor. I think Thandie Newton would be the perfect person to join those legions wearing this black and brown ensemble which features a black one shoulder origami draped top with a dramatic train, black tailored classic pencil pants with a thick banded waistline and seam detailing, and detachable toffee faux leather ruched sleeves.

Mugler: Mugler ended up showing off season after the unexpected departure of its creative director David Koma with its Fall 2018 RTW collection. New creative director Casey Cadwallader presented his second collection for the brand and I am slowly coming around. It isn’t the most red carpet friendly brand, like it was under Koma, but there are pieces that I would like to be worn. Most of all I am obsessed with the blush, yellow, and purple fringe gown that that really made for a very dramatic moment. It was a real statement moment, but I have struggled with who would sell it on the red carpet. I thought about all of the fun that Heidi Klum had when she was wearing a similar fringe gown by project runway alumni Sean Kelly on the red carpet at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards and thought she might be perfect to give this Mugler fringe gown a moment as well.

No. 21: Another one of my favorite brands that I think is very underrated is No. 21. Alessandro Del’Aqua delivers chic Italian glamour in his collections for the brand and I am always excited to see what he will present next. There is no shortage of looks to make glamorous moments on the red carpet from the brands Resort 2019 collection. In fact I’ve already put a short suit from the brand in my San Diego Comic-Con wishes for Evan Rachel Wood. My favorite look from the collection was this silver one shoulder sequin cocktail dress which features a large pink bow detail on the shoulder and a contrasting color back panel. It is fun and flirty and I think that since Alison Brie is working with a new stylist recently that this might be a fun moment to bring to one of the cocktail events that she attends.Oscar de la Renta: When it comes to glamour does any brand to it better than Oscar de la Renta? I have always loved the looks that came down an Oscar de la Renta runway but when Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim took over the reigns of the brand they brought this new modern twist to the brand. It found a whole new life under these two and I am forever in love with it. I am already hoping that these two will be to Oscar what Karl Lagerfeld has been to Chanel. The brand has attracted a younger brand of celebrity since the two joined the brand including Emma Watson. She wore several looks from the brand last year while she was promoting Beauty and the Beast, and I would love to see her step onto a red carpet wearing this white strapless eyelet lace gown which features a sweetheart neckline, empire waist, contrast bow at the bustline, and an asymmetrical hemline.

Rosie Assoulin: When it comes to that relaxed glamour that often times goes over so well on the red carpet very few do it as well as Rosie Assoulin. She meshes bohemian elegance with drama and it makes for absolutely glamorous collections. I always look forward to seeing what she will present each season and the Resort 2019 collection might be my favorite one yet. Her brand is perfect for resort. It is the perfect mesh of dramatics and wear-ability. If I were a rich lady yachting the world I would want to sip my champagne on the sun deck wearing Rosie Assoulin. The brand has amassed a huge celebrity following including Naomie Harris who I think would be the perfect person to bring this navy strapless rainbow striped silk taffeta gown which features a fitted bodice that flares into a full, structured skirt and a defined sash detail waist to life on the red carpet.

Sachin + Babi: For the most part we don’t see Sachin + Babi dress a whole lot of the a-list, aside of Helen Mirren, but I really want to see more stars embrace the brands signature glamour on the red carpet. I feel like there are so many potential red carpet moments that are hiding in this collection. The gown I want to see most is this bright yellow strapless cocktail length pencil dress which features a dramatic bow attached at the back. We often see Amanda Seyfried rocking the most coveted labels like Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, and Prada on the red carpet, but I really do think that she would take this gown and own it.

Viktor & Rolf Sior: Finishing out this list the drama and glamour of Viktor & Rolf. I was really excited last September when the label relaunched ready-to-wear. I love the genius of the brand and I really do believe that there is a way to balance out the incredibly avant garde designs they send down the couture runways and the more wearable approach to glamour. That is what they have figured out with the launch of the Sior line. It is still dramatic, but still incredibly wearable. We have already seen Zendaya rock several looks from the first Sior collection, so I would love to see her bring the glamour to the red carpet wearing this lavender embroidered bow drape ballgown which features a sweetheart neckline, pastel 3D floral embroidery detailing on the bodice, and a dramatic full skirt.

2018 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

As I have said several times already, and will probably say several more, I am really excited to see what will happen on Oscar night. Maybe combined with the Met Gala this single night gets more space on this website than any other events. Stars really pull out all the stops to hold up to the gowns that walk the red carpet at the Dolby Theater for the main Oscars ceremony. Gal Gadot has been making the rounds this year attending the Golden Globe Awards, Producers Guild Awards, Palm Springs Film Festival Awards, National Board of Review Awards, and the Critics Choice Awards. There hasn’t been a single gown that she has worn that I haven’t liked and it would really surprise me to see her not on at least one red carpet on Oscars night, especially seeing that she is one of the many stars who are on the cover of this years Vanity Fair ‘Hollywood issue.’ Despite that last night Brandon Maxwell presented his new Fall 2018 RTW collection I want to see Gal step out for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet wearing this fuchsia and poppy Brandon Maxwell Spring 2018 RTW chiffon gown features a wrap halter neckline, exposed waist, and front slit. As I have said a few times about other gowns I am really surprised that this gown hasn’t been worn yet. I think that the blackouts and white outs on different red carpets this awards season are just some of the reasons that this bold gown hasn’t been worn on a red carpet yet. I do think that this gown on Gal for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, a matching fuchsia lip, gold Francesco Russo ‘Sandao’ platform sandals, and a pair of Butani white and yellow diamond chandelier earrings that this look would be perfection. Kerry Washington knows how to deliver a lewk on the red carpet and I am really excited to see what she could bring to the red carpet on Oscar night at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. In some of the years where Kerry hasn’t been a presenter at the Oscars (when she does she usually doesn’t give us a wardrobe change) she has given us some really chic moments in Calvin Klein, Atelier Versace, and Michael Kors. Instead of something off the runway I went delving into the racks of online vintage retailer 1stDibs and found a really, really great vintage Givenchy Haute Couture gown for Kerry to rock. This red and white giraffe print strapless gown from 1971 features a twisted shelf-bust, sweetheart neckline and a bell shaped skirt is a real statement, and I feel like if anyone could make it would I think that it would be such a moment for Kerry to rock on this red carpet. Especially for big nights like Oscar night prints are often seen as a big no no, but when done right they can be really really good. I think that Kerry would do this look right with a big high bun, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Sofia’ open toe sandals, and Alexandre Reza ruby and diamond spiked hoop earrings. All that would make this look oh so right. Olivia Munn hosted the Critics Choice Awards earlier this year and was a presenter at the SAG Awards. I love her style it is very glam and very chic and I would love to see her rock the red carpet at this years Vanity Fair Oscar Party. In past years Olivia has worn Giambattista Valli, Calvin Klein, Atelier VersaceAlexander McQueen, J. Mendel, and Zac Posen for the Vanity Fair party. For this years red carpet I went to a designer whom I feel is underutilized on both this website and on red carpets in general. Narciso does these really simple and very chic dresses and this year is celebrating 20 years in business. I think that Olivia would definitely take this black Narciso Rodriguez gown composed of black silk crepe which features a high V’d halterneck and silver tone-studded bodice would be something Olivia would love. It isn’t a ground breaking design, but I think that the sleek modern glam of this gown would just allow for Olivia to ooze sex appeal on the red carpet. I would keep the styling pretty simple adding a black Edie Parker ‘Jean’ acrylic clutch, a sleek updo, simple defined eyes, a bold red lip, black Christian Louboutin ‘Circonvolu Strass’ strappy sandals and adding statement Graziela aqua paraiba tourmaline slice and diamond earrings to ensure that this is a really beautiful moment for the Vanity Fair red carpet. Scarlett Johansson will be presenting at the 2018 Independent Spirit Awards the night before the Oscars (which might mean she presents at the Oscars too, maybe?) so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. I would love to see ScarJo give us really classic glamour on this red carpet by showing up wearing this black silk velvet Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture column gown edged with devoré ostrich feathers and featuring a geometrically embellished black crystal belt. ScarJo loves simple gowns and black so I feel like this is a match made in heaven. A chic coif, kohl rimmed eyes, a red lip, black Christian Louboutin ‘Aketata’ suede peep toe pumps, and a selection of Harry Winston diamonds including a pair of vintage cluster earrings and a statement fringe bracelet all would really ensure that this is one of Scarlett’s best red carpet moments in a really long time. I honestly cant believe the low profile that Taylor Swift has continued to embrace even after the drop of her album Reputation last year. She didn’t show up for the MTV Video Music Awards, CMA Awards, American Music Awards, or the Grammy’s despite her nominations. In fact she hasn’t made a real public appearance since her performance at the DirecTV Super Bowl weekend concert last year. What would be a better night to finally come out of hiding than Oscar night? I would love to see the edgy glam side of Taylor that seems to be her new MO thanks that we saw in “Look What You Made Me Do” video, because “the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now” because she’s dead right? I think that she would definitely sell this black and white lace Fausto Puglisi Spring 2018 RTW sleeveless gown which  features a cut-out neckline with an intricate embellished design on the fitted bodice and a column silhouette to me on this red carpet. It is different than some of the much more glam moments that Taylor has worn on this red carpet in the past, but I think that is exactly what she would go for right now. Add a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Lane’ peep toe sandals, a sleek bob, smokey eyes, red lips, and Bulgari jewels including a pair of ruby pendant earrings and a gold and onyx ‘Serpenti’ cuff bracelet to really make this a perfect look for the new Taylor.

Oscar Night 2018 will take place on Sunday March 6, 2018.

2018 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

We are now in full-fledged in my wishes for the 2018 Grammy Awards red carpet this weekend. I am wondering how moving the ceremony from its home at the Staples Center in Los Angeles (where the Grammy’s have been held for the last 14 years) to New York City and Madison Square Garden. I am really excited to see what the stars will bring to this red carpet. Will the more urban setting give a distinct vibe to this red carpet? I guess we will find out when the stars show up on the red carpet on Sunday night. Beyonce is nominated as the featured artist on Jay-Z’s song “Family Feud” and I would bet that she and Jay will be on the red carpet together this weekend. Beyonce has been really up and down with her red carpet style for me. There was a time when I thought she could do no wrong, but her recent style shift hasn’t been something that I have been real excited about. I did keep some of that in mind when I put together my wishes for her to wear this year. I wanted to infuse aspects of what I used to love about her style and the hard edge that seems to be dominating her style recently. The one thing that I did do for Beyonce (and almost all of the stars who will attend the Grammy’s) was shun sheer gowns. They are so over played-out at this point that I really don’t want to see a single obviously sheer gown exposing bras and panties on the Grammy Awards red carpet, think it can happen? I picked two looks for Beyonce to wear this Sunday because she is definitely one of the women who is known to make a wardrobe change inside even if she isn’t performing. For the red carpet I turned to the Saint Laurent Fall 2018 RTW collection, kind of. I want to see Bey wearing a modified Saint Laurent Spring 2018 RTW gown in this black sequin column gown which features dramatic pleated ruffle details on the neckline and long sleeves, which was actually presented as a mini dress on the runway that I photoshopped into a gown to give a real idea of what I am looking for. This gown is a little more simple in shape than we are used to seeing Beyonce wear for the Grammy Awards red carpet, as she usually has some bit of a dramatic train, but I think that this would be a really beautiful and impactful statement. I think that the dress is a statement on its own but I think that if Bey paired it with a sleek high bun, smokey eye, red lips, a pair of black glitter Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pointed toe pumps, and statement Lorraine Schwartz carved jade and diamond doorknocker earrings that this would be a really great moment for Bey to wear on this red carpet (especially since she is nominated as a featured artist and not the lead artist on the track.) For a wardrobe change out of the skin tight silhouette of the Saint Laurent gown I went to a more of a moody 80’s glam almost figure skater inspired moment with this black and silver Balmain Pre-Fall 2018 intricately embellished cocktail dress which features a zig-zag asymmetrical hem, long sleeves, a mock neck, a neck to hem zip up back, and zipper cuffs. I think that this is another really major moment, but one that I think is making a moment that will ensure that Beyonce has another great moment inside as she did on the red carpet. Add a pair of black satin ribbon Christian Louboutin ‘Tres Frais’ ankle wrap sandals, the same hair and makeup from the red carpet, a pair of Lorraine Schwartz diamond, emerald and sapphire statement earrings, and a selection of Lorraine Schwarz diamond, emerald, and sapphire cocktail rings to really ensure that Bey is perfection is head to toe. After dominating the second half of 2017 I have a feeling that the 2018 Grammy Awards are going to be really big for Cardi B. She is nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Bodak Yellow” and will be performing “Finesse” on the Grammy stage with Bruno Mars. I picked two looks for Beyonce, but I picked three for Cardi. I wanted one look for the red carpet, one for her performance, and one to change into after her performance for the rest of the show. For the red carpet I turned to this metallic sand Jonathan Simkhai Pre-Fall 2018 dimensional sequin one shoulder long sleeve gown which features an intricate embellishment design with an asymmetrical shoulder strap design, long sleeves, slash detail at the neckline, and a sexy split. This gown is edgy glam and I really think that it is a really big fashion moment for her to wear on the Grammy Awards red carpet. I think that this is the chance for her to redeem herself for that really bad Christian Siriano moment that she had on the 2017 VMA’s red carpet that landed on my Worst Dressed of 2017 list. I think that this moment is the perfect mesh of edge and glamour for an event like the Grammy Awards. I feel like if as a native New Yorker Cardi is going to rise to the occasion that it will be on the Grammy Awards red carpet on her home turf will be it. Add a pair of leopard print Giuseppe Zanotti crystal embellished sandals, a sleek bob, defined eyes, nude lips, and a selection of Bulgari jewels including a pair of emerald and diamond chandelier earrings and a statement emerald cocktail ring to really make sure that this look is the definition of looking expensive. For her performance of “Finesse [REMIX]” with Bruno Mars I picked a look that I feel likes fits with the 90’s fly girl vibe that was given in the music video by going back to Jeremy Scott’s first collection for Moschino and this light blue quilted denim bomber jacket and tapered jeans from the Fall 2014 RTW collection. I love the gold chain trim the logo chain belt from this look on the runway. Add a gold Lovers + Friends twist turn bandeau top, sleek hair, smokey eyes, a hot pink glossy lip, gold Jimmy Choo ‘Daize’ lace up ankle boots, and gold vintage Chanel ear clip disc earrings to really make sure that this look is 90’s realness head to toe. For the final wardrobe change I have for Cardi to make for the 2018 Grammy Awards is this baroque tiger print Versace Fall 2018 Menswear collection long sleeve mini dress. As I have been going down the fall menswear shows I have loved seeing pops of really great womenswear on the runways and this was one of those moments. I actually changed my set of wishes for Cardi when I saw this dress come down the runway because I just thought it really fit her aesthetic. Round this look out with a smokey eye, nude lip, sleek hair, and a pair of camel suede Christian Louboutin ‘Galleria’ round studded sandals to just really make sure that Cardi finishes off the night in high style, really cementing her as a true star.I am still trying to figure out what Julia Michaels style is. She has given flirty and feminine in Marchesa, glamorous and fashion forward in Christian Dior, edgy in Phuong My, and classic in Winnonah. So she has been all over with her red carpet looks in the past. I hope that she will deliver a really great moment on the red carpet at her very first Grammy Awards. Punk, bohemian, flirty femininity is the way that I went down for her to rock for the 2018 Grammy’s with this acid floral Libertine Spring 2018 RTW tiered gown. Libertine isn’t a brand that we so often on the red carpet, but I think that the “it” girl status that the brand holds really makes for a great Grammy’s moment. I think that if Julia took this gown added a chic messy top knot, smokey eyes, a light pink lip, black Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong’ sandals, and a pair of diamond and opal Stephen Webster ‘Magnipheasant’ feather inspired earrings that she would have a perfect moment on her hands for the Grammy Awards red carpet.Lorde has come a long way since she was the first time she attended the Grammy’s wearing a simple black Balenciaga gown that was rather boring. I will say that whatever she wears Lorde always is authentically herself. Often she doesn’t wear color or walk red carpets, but when she does each it becomes magic. For the Grammy Awards I decided to keep Lorde in her all black comfort zone, but in a way that I think that this is a potential major moment. I think that Lorde would definitely be a major style player wearing this black sequined wool Chanel Pre-Fall 2018 tuxedo jumpsuit which feature silver buttons on wide leg culotte pants. I do think that if anyone could make a look like this really come to life on the red carpet that it would be Lorde. When it comes to styling I think a sleek bun, defined eye, red lips, a pair of flat black Christian Louboutin ‘Charletta’ wing-tips with thick creeper soles, and a Cartier High Jewelry diamond collar necklace all would really make sure that this look is authentically Lorde and a perfect Grammy’s moment.Similar to Beyonce, Rihanna is nominated as a featured artist this year on Kendrick Lamar’s single “Loyalty.” She will also be performing with DJ Khalid and Bryson Tiller on the Grammy’s stage! It was on the Grammy Awards red carpet 10 years ago in electric blue Zac Posen that I learned who Rihanna was and fell in love with her. Since then she has just delivered moment after moment in every style imaginable from barely there in Jean Paul Gaultier Couture, simplistic in Giorgio Armani, glamorous in custom Azzedine Alaïa, and completely over the top in Giambattista Valli Couture. This isn’t the 10 year anniversary of Rihanna on the Grammy’s red carpet, but I feel like it was at that time time (with the help of Zac) that we really saw RiRi start to become a real icon. The looks that I picked for Rihanna to rock this year are nods to looks that she has worn for past Grammy ceremonies. For the red carpet I took inspiration from the white Elie Saab Couture gown that Rihanna wore in 2010 by choosing this black Armani Prive Fall 2017 Couture which features a strong shouldered feathered bodice and crystal beaded roses covering the whole fit and flare skirt. That Saab gown was very hot and cold when it came to its reception, but I think that this Armani Prive gown tones down the edge of the Saab gown and turns it into a major 40’s femme fatale statement. A Fenty Beauty ‘Stunna’ lip paint, a sleek high bun, winged eyeliner, a black/silver/gold Judith Leiber Couture ‘Bela Lugosi’ skull minaudiere, black Christian Louboutin ‘Follies Strass’ crystal embellished mesh pumps, and a pair of deGrisogono gold pearl and black and yellow diamond statement hoop earrings all would really ensure make this a really dramatic moment for the Grammy’s red carpet. For a wardrobe change inside I took color inspiration from that Zac Posen dress from 2008 and meshed it with the Maison Margiela suit she changed into in 2015. That black Margiela suit was from John Galliano’s debut couture collection for the house and this electric blue Maison Margiela Fall 2018 Menswear double breasted silk suit is the first time Galliano has designed a menswear collection for the brand. Rihanna is no stranger to wearing menswear on the red carpet and I think that this could be a really great way for her to pay homage to her past. Let the hair down, keep the makeup from the red carpet and add a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ leather and PVC illusion sandals, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection paisley earrings made up blue topaz and orange and blue sapphires to really ensure perfectionAt the end of this really long list is Taylor Swift, whom I have no idea if she will actually attend the Grammy’s or not. Officially the last red carpet that Taylor actually walked was the Met Gala in 2016. I am really interested in seeing what this new Taylor will wear on a red carpet. Since she dropped new music she has skipped the VMA’s and the American Music Awards, so I am wondering if she will make an appearance on Sunday at the Grammy’s. If she does step out I would love to see her give us this very 80’s inspired moment on from the Fausto Puglisi Resort 2018 collection with this black silk bejeweled gown which features a gold neck to hem zip-up front and a corseted bodice. I think that the sexier side of Taylor would definitely come into play on this red carpet and I definitely think that this gown would fit this new aesthetic that she has given during her Reputation era. A sleek hairstyle, smokey eye, red lips, and a pair of black Gianvito Rossi ‘Love Heart’ patent sandals are how I would finish this look to ensure that this is a really major moment for Taylor’s return to the red carpet.

The 2018 Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday January 28, 2018.

2017 Gotham Independent Film Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Now that we have the kick off of awards season behind us with the 2017 Hollywood Film Awards and the Academy Governors Awards we are picking up steam on the race to the 2018 Academy Awards. Over the next several weeks several before a break for the Christmas holidays we will see several of the smaller awards show red carpets take place and it just gets me more and more excited for awards season. The Gotham Independent Film Awards have pushed up their presentation of awards. Usually we see these awards handed out at the beginning of December, but we will see this years red carpet take place on Monday November 27, 2017. Allison Janney has already earned herself a Hollywood Film Award for her supporting role in I, Tonya and I think that despite the fact that she doesn’t have a nomination at the Gotham Independent Film Awards that she will be on the red carpet. Thanks to her boost from the Hollywood Film Awards win Allison is officially campaigning for that Best Supporting Actress Oscar and that usually means stepping out for awards shows where the film is nominated even if you aren’t there is no supporting actress category at the Gotham Awards, so it is not like Allison was snubbed for her performance. Since she isn’t nominated I wanted to pick a really chic moment, yet simple moment for Allison to wear on the red carpet at the Gotham Awards. This simple yet chic black Elizabeth Kennedy Spring 2018 RTW fitted cocktail dress which features pearl trim detail would be a perfect moment for Allison to bring to this red carpet. This dress modern and classic all at the same time and I think that would be the perfect kind of look for Allison to wear to keep up appearances. Running with the pearl detail I would add a black satin Roger Vivier ‘Jaipur’ pearly fringe minaudiere and a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistpearls’ sandals to old Hollywood waves, a simple lined eye, and red lips to make this look perfection.Carey Mulligan is part of the cast of Mudbound which will be honored with the Special Jury Award for Ensemble Performance at the 2017 Gotham Independent Film Awards. I have been loving everything Carey has worn on the red carpet this year and I have pretty decent expectations for what she will wear as awards season continues. For the Gotham red carpet I want to see Carey wearing this green and purple geometric floral print Zac Posen Spring 2018 RTW full skirted cocktail dress. This is a chic moment and I think that Carey could definitely make this dress a beautiful look on the red carpet. With a sleek updo, pink lip, a simple defined eye, and a pair of silver Gucci ‘Allie’ bow embellished metallic sandals this look would be the epitome of chic elegance on the red carpet. Margot Robbie is nominated for Best Actress for her role as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya and I am praying that we will finally see an awards season where Margot is nominated. The vibe at the Gotham Independent Film Awards is usually more of a relaxed, cocktail approach to glamour. The awards invite even specifies that the dress code for the event is “Festive evening attire. The event is not black tie.” So I went to great cocktail dresses for guests to wear on this red carpet. I think that Margot would definitely fit that bill wearing this yellow Jacquemus Spring 2018 RTW off-the-shoulder sheath dress which features a v-neckline and a midi length hem. Margot’s stylist Kate Young loves Jacquemus having put many of her clients in the brand and wearing the brand to the Met Gala herself, so I think that we will most likely see Margot wearing one of his designs over the course of awards season and I think that this platform would be the perfect red carpet to wear this rising star designer. Loose waves, a simplistic face of makeup, yellow Gianvito Rossi strappy sandals, and a pair of Bulgari diamond, emerald, sapphire, and citrine earrings all would all the perfect finishing touches to this look. For Margot. Finishing off today’s wishes for the Gotham Independent Film Awards is the gorgeous Nicole Kidman, who will be given one of this years Gotham Tribute awards. At the beginning of the year Nicole was honestly one who kept breaking my heart on red carpet after red carpet, but then she took the Cannes Film Festival by storm and there really hasn’t been a single look that she has worn this year that I haven’t liked or loved. I am really hoping that she will keep that up on this red carpet. I think that this ivory white and black tuxedo inspired dress which features an embroidered detail on the dresses asymmetrical hem is very much in Nicole’s wheelhouse and that is is a perfect moment for the Gotham Awards red carpet. This is a very classic look with a modern, fashionable twist that makes it anything but boring. I would further that glamour with sleek hair tucked behind the ears, a kohl rimmed eyes, a bold red lip, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Biblio’ leather cutout pumps, and simple diamond Fred Leighton earrings.

The 2017 Gotham Independent Film Awards will take place Monday November 27, 2017.

“Murder on the Orient Express” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Coming off my wishes for the 2017 AFI Fest we are back on my wishes for block buster movie tours. I am really excited about the whole tour for Murder on the Orient Express tour. The movie just exudes glamour and I am sure that the cast will mirror that on the red carpet as they promote the film. After the big promo tour for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and presenting at the 2016 Academy Awards Daisy Ridley has laid really low. I am really excited that she has the tours for two big films at about the same time. She burst onto the scene almost 2 years ago capturing the eyes of the biggest brands in the world and I am expecting that she will surely deliver some beautiful moments in the coming weeks. For the LA premiere of Murder on the Orient Express I went for this ballerina-esque ivory, blush, and yellow Carolina Herrera Spring 2018 RTW midi dress which features black embroidered straps, a fitted bodice, and a tiered a-line tulle skirt. This look is all about femininity as Carolina Herrera designs usually are and I think that Daisy would look ever so chic wearing this confection on the red carpet. Daisy has never worn Carolina Herrera before, and I think that this will be a perfect platform to spark what could be a beautiful friendship. A pair of blush satin Paul Andrew sandals, a tight ballerina bun, winged eye liner, opal Chopard drop earrings, and a rose pink lip all would add the perfect finishing touches to this look.Michelle Pfeiffer has been one who has really showed me that aging doesn’t mean you have to loose your sense of sensuality and sex appeal. I am hoping that she will do the dog and pony show to promote Murder on the Orient Express. Michelle only attended the Mother! premiere at the Venice Film Festival, skipping out on all the rest films premieres in London and New York. If Michelle does step out for the films premiere in LA I think that this black velvet and silver sequined Valentino Spring 2018 RTW long sleeve gown which features subtle cut out details would help perfectly punctuate her signature sensual glamour. This gown was definitely one of my favorites to come out of this collection and I totally think that Michelle would do it the justice it deserves. I would have Michelle finish this look by styling it with a romantic curly updo, smokey eye, nude lip, black velvet Casadei platform sandals, and a pair of Harry Winston diamond cluster earrings to really make this an absolutely major moment for Michelle. Penelope Cruz is probably the one I am most excited to see on the red carpet during the promo tour for Murder on the Orient Express. For the most part this year Penelope has pretty much exclusively worn Versace for all of her red carpet appearances. It makes sense. She has been a long time friend of the house and is playing Donatella Versace in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story I can see why she would. I am breaking that run again by picking this gorgeous black and white lace Fausto Puglisi Spring 2018 RTW strapless column gown which features a peplum neckline. This is one of my favorite Fausto Puglisi collections ever and I think that this gown would make for such a major moment for Penelope. Adding a pair of black and nude lace Christian Louboutin ‘Hot Jeanbi’ pumps, a chic kohl rimmed cat eye, red lips, a large high bun, and a pair of diamond and emerald Chopard drop earrings all would ensure that when Penelope steps onto this red carpet she just oozes glamour.
