“We’re looking at trying to do a unique award ceremony in an hour and leave people saying, which they very rarely do [with an awards show], ‘Man, I wish we had more,'” SAG Awards co-executive producer Todd Milliner told Variety about this years ceremony. That has me very intrigued. After taking a lot of time to find my inspiration to write wishes for this years event I’ve finally found it. While I am disappointed that this years show isn’t going to be live I am still excited to see what fashion the stars will bring to this show. Another of the producers for the show Kathy Connell said “We hope they [the nominees] respect the show enough and everybody does, and their fellow actors, that they don’t want to disappoint the audience at home by letting any surprises go.” So far this is true and it seems like even stylists are holding images of looks to release them when the red carpet would usually take place. 
For the Golden Globes Carey Mulligan rocked a draped white Prada column gown. I wasn’t thrilled with the fit of the gown and the look was lacking great hair and makeup. She kept a similar beauty look with a white satin suit for the Critics Choice Awards. It seems like white has been her color of choice this awards season so with that in mind for the SAG Awards I would love to see Carey bring something incredibly chic from head to toe to life. I found the perfect look for Carey in this vintage Chanel Couture ensemble which is a white short sleeve lace blouse, a black banded waist, and a white sequin diamond pattern embroidered a-line tea length organza skirt from the brands Spring 2001 Couture collection. I have been loving vintage Chanel in lieu of many of Virginie Viard’s collections and I believe that Carey would look absolutely phenomenal wearing this gorgeous gown. With a soft curly romantic updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of white Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and antique Victorian white pearl and white diamond silver-upon-blacken gold drop earrings from London based vintage jewelry dealer Jewellery Discovery I know that Carey would have a phenomenal glamour moment on her hands. 
Kerry Washington hasn’t made any appearances this awards season, but with her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series nomination at the SAG Awards I am praying that she ends up serving us a look. I looked at a lot of dresses and there wasn’t a whole lot that spoke to me. This black Iris Van Herpen Spring 2021 Couture high low strapless gown with a peplum train, mini underskirt, and intricate sequin embroidery was the gown that really spoke to me. I can’t say that Kerry is someone I would normally think of when looking at an Iris Van Herpen collection, but the moment I saw this dress I couldn’t help but shake the idea of Kerry bringing this gown to life. I’ve loved her looks since she’s worked with Law Roach and the two make magic together. It would be a super cool edgy glam moment and I believe that Kerry would absolutely be able to sell this gown to me. I would add a sleek side parted bob, defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Moon Crystal’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a statement emerald and white diamond de Grisogono collar necklace to really make this a statement edgy glam moment for Kerry from head to toe.
Leslie Odom Jr. has been showing up in some super cool fashion moments for award shows so far this season. He rocked hot off the runway Valentino Couture for the Golden Globe awards and Celine look from a collection we haven’t seen a lookbook from for the Critics Choice Awards. I am very excited to see what is last few stops along awards season including this weekends SAG Awards. I’ve always thought that Leslie in classic menswear styles with a twist. That is exactly what I found in the Tom Ford Fall 2021 Menswear collection. I adore this black leopard print tuxedo jacket styled with a silk button down shirt and black tuxedo trousers. It is a cool moment and I definitely believe that Leslie would be able to sell this look with ease. I would keep the styling rather simple finishing the look with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlato Flat’ glittered velvet and patent leather oxfords. 
Nicole Kidman dress in her best custom Louis Vuitton for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year to partake in the ceremony virtually with her family from their living room in Australia. I am very excited to see what she will wear for this weekends SAG Awards where she is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series. I had several options for what I would like to see Nicole wearing, but it was this black liquid sequin Giambattista Valli Fall 2021 RTW column gown which features a single sleeve, floral embellishment, and a bow detail on the shoulder that really spoke to me. I feel like it this gown is incredibly sleek and glamorous with a hint of sex appeal and Nicole would easily be able to make this look come to life on the red carpet. With this being a pre-recorded virtual event I know this simpler silhouette would be perfect for Nicole. A soft romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, black crystal embellished mesh Rene Caovilla pointed toe slingback pumps, and a selection of jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of Georgian pendeloque rose cut white diamond drop earrings, a pink spinel and white diamond cocktail ring, and a 1960’s Colombian emerald and white diamond cocktail ring would all tie this look up together in one glamorous package. 
Viola Davis has been loving bold prints lately. She’s rocked Lavie by CK for the Golden Globes, XulyBet for a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon, and Duro Olowu for the NAACP Image Awards. Each one was statement making and bold. Never a look I would have expected to see from Viola and who knows if they are looks she would have chosen to wear had this been a regular year. I didn’t go the bold pattern for my SAG Awards wishes I really wanted to see Viola wearing this teal chiffon Elie Saab Fall 2021 RTW a-line flowing gown with a sweetheart crystal halter neckline, ruched bodice, and a crystal waist. I saw this gown and knew immediately it was perfect for Viola. It was the first gown I picked for my SAG Awards wishes. It was actually the thought of not putting this wish into the universe that kept me coming back to look at my wishes and persevering to make sure I got them up. To make this a perfect red carpet moment I would love to see Viola style this gown with a teased afro hairstyle, smokey eyes, deep burgundy glossy lips, a silver crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture slim faceted rectangle clutch, a pair of strappy silver Casadei ankle strap platform sandals, and selection of Thelma West jewels including simple white diamond drop earrings and a statement white diamond cushion cut cocktail ring.

Chloe x Halle have 3 Grammy nominations this year and I would love to see the duo serve us a LOOK for the “red carpet.” The sister duo is always a favorite to see on the red carpet and I really want to see them SHUT IT DOWN for their first ever Grammy nominations. I would love to see them rock some glamorous moments from Christian Siriano this year. I wouldn’t normally go for Siriano since these two can serve up some major moments from some of the top avant garde designers, but as I was on the hunt I saw the gown I want to see Chloe Baily bring to life and I was changed completely. Alana Haim, Este Haim, and Danielle Haim AKA just as HAIM are true fashionistas. They have rocked major complimentary moments from Chanel, Dior, Rodarte, Chloe, Stella McCartney, Versace, and Acne Studios on red carpets over the last several years. They love fashion and they aren’t afraid to rock avant garde looks on the red carpet. So when I was thinking about who I want to dress the sister group nominated for two Grammy’s including Album of the Year and who are performing I immediately thought of the cool girl brand of the moment Bottega Veneta by Daniel Lee. I’ve been obsessed with the Bottega Veneta Resort 2021 collection since it was first presented and I know that in a world where there are red carpets that stars would have been all over it. So when I saw her name on a list of presenters alongside her Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar co-star I knew I wanted a major moment from her again. I don’t easily turn to the label, but I know her stylist isn’t afraid to put his clients in the problematic brand and despite all of those problems I still love this navy, turquoise, and sky blue color blocked pleated gown with a halter neck, defined waist, a-line, and flowing train from the brands Fall 2019 Alta Moda Couture collection. So when I was looking for the perfect gown for Tiffany and I saw this gown in my archives I knew it would be a perfect fit. She loves a great color moment and I feel like this is here for Tiffany’s major fashion choices as of late. I would style this gown with her shaved head, thick defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of 
Anya Taylor Joy just might nab the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television award for her performance in The Queen’s Gambit. She is also nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy thanks to her role in Emma. This is a major accomplishment for the actress who has never been nominated for a Golden Globe before. I cannot wait to see what Anya will wear for this years Golden Globes because her stylist Law Roach definitely isn’t afraid to have his clients serve up DRAMA even if they are just joining a show remotely. It was really a no brainer for me to pick this major late 60’s meets bohemian glamour moment from the Giambattista Valli Spring 2021 Couture collection to life for the Globes. I love the sheer blouse with blouson sleeves and big green satin bows and the ball skirt with a an intricate leaf embroidered pattern and a sweeping train of this look. Her performance in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist has earned this beautiful redhead a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy so I want to see her bring an incredibly glamorous look to the screen. Renee Zellweager will be on hand this year as one of the presenters at the Golden Globe Awards after taking home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama trophy last year. Now as I was planning looks here I would love to see Andra wear I knew that this Giambattista Valli Spring 2021 Couture long sleeve a-line dress which features an intricate silver sequin and crystal embellished high neck bodice and a big metallic pink dotted black tulle all skirt. The dress is tied together perfectly with black and red satin bows. It would definitely speak to Andra’s favored retro glamour and I can only imagine the major glamour she would be able to deliver rocking this look. I think I am most disappointed that COVID has stolen all kinds of major red carpet moments from Emma Corrin. I adored her portrayal of Princess Diana in the latest season of The Crown and she is just as much of a fashionista. In the lead up to the latest season of the show dropping on Netflix her stylist Harry Lambert shared a series of photos of looks that the two had put together as options for looks for press and premieres and it included looks from 16Arlington, Christopher Kane, Rejina Pyo, Loewe, and Nensi Dojaka. She ultimately wore custom Miu Miu for the virtual premiere. Now had there been a red carpet for the AFI Awards I would have loved to seen Emma channel Diana’s two different senses of style with this look from the Louis Vuitton Resort 2021 collection. They grey double breasted blazer is more of the structured side of Diana’s style and the horizontal striped silk leggings are on the athleisure side and they shouldn’t work well together, but for some reason it does. Now I would swap the blue striped shirt the look was styled with in the lookbook instead opting for a white cotton sleeveless embroidered button down shirt with a ruffled neckline to add a soft touch of femininity to the very severe look. Erin Doherty emerged out of the cast of The Crown as a fashion force we didn’t know we were looking for. She has a super feminine sensibility and has rocked major moments from coveted brands like Valentino and Giambattista Valli for red carpets since bursting onto the scene. If there were an in person AFI Awards this year I would have loved to see Erin show up to celebrate the show wearing this uber feminine pink floral flowing dress from the Giambattista Valli Fall 2020 RTW collection which features long blouson sleeves, a black bow belted waist, and an a-line skirt. This dress balances femininity and bohemian styling and I believe that Erin would wear it incredibly well. Gillian Anderson’s performance in Season 4 of The Crown and the Iron Lady, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was PHENOMENAL. It has lead to her receiving a Golden Globe, SAG, and Critics Choice Award nomination so far this awards season. I’ve always been a fan of Gillian’s style so I would love to see her bring some very chic moments to the red carpets. I would have loved to see Gillian show up for this super casual red carpet wearing this electric blue Carolina Herrera Resort 2021 long sleeve pencil dress which features a jewel neckline, a gathered seam waist, and a faux wrap style skirt. It isn’t a boundary pushing look by any means, but sometimes we just need chic and not evolutionary. The AFI Awards red carpet is a place where I am really not opposed to just seeing CHIC and this dress is that. Now I was inspired by the lookbook styling and I would love to style this look with a pair of
Helena Bonham Carter doesn’t really do red carpets except for the major ones, so I don’t really believe that she would have actually attended the AFI Awards. But, since we are dreaming today I decided to make sure she is included. I have a love hate relationship with Helena’s style. I love that she is always quirky and true to herself, but on the other hand I don’t necessarily love her sense of style. That being said, I went shopping in the runways and lookbooks to find something amazing for Helena. Now I fell in love with the idea of seeing Helena in Rodarte as I was looking at this bold floral print long sleeve silk-blend devore velvet tea length dress from the brands Fall 2020 RTW collection. We’ve never seen Helena in Rodarte, but I really think that this dress is perfectly in tune with her sense of style. I might go as far as saying that should she actually wear this look on a red carpet that it might be one of her best red carpet looks ever. For the AFI Awards I would dress this more cocktail oriented dress down with Helena’s signature messy updo, thick kohl rimmed eyes, bold red lips, a 
Josh O’Connor was a phenomenal Prince Charles. He had the voice and mannerisms down perfectly. Now last awards season he was working some really interesting 70’s inspired looks from Loewe. That alone designates him with a fashion boy distinction. As I was looking at the collections being shown recently I found myself imagining several looks on him so definitely know that I will be featuring him in many of my upcoming event wishes. One look I really loved for him was this Dior Men Fall 2021 ensemble which features a powder blue early 19th century military inspired blazer, dark oil blue silk trousers, and a victorian scene printed trench coat. It isn’t an easy look to pull off and I don’t think I would recommend all the pieces together for anyone other than Josh (though I totally want that coat in my closet). He has the effortlessly quirky sensibility to really make a look like this come to life. 
And last but certainly not least is The Crown’s very own Queen Elizabeth II Olivia Colman. A couple of years ago I wasn’t all that interested in Olivia’s style, but there have been some bright spots. I think mostly of her red Antonio Berardi at the Venice Film Festival, the custom Prada at the AFI Fest premiere of the Season 3 of The Crown, and her custom Stella McCartney at the Oscars last year. I wouldn’t expect a groundbreaking moment from Olivia at an event like the AFI Awards, but this cornflower blue silk jersey Erdem Resort 2021 dress which features a jewel neckline, blouson sleeves, pearl details at a gathered waist, and a soft a-line skirt would be incredibly chic. It is a very elegant gown that is in all reality a very classic design, but it also feels very modern. I would definitely love to see Olivia bring this chic moment to life with a short pixie style, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a

Bridgerton took the world by storm with its Christmas Day release. Since then it has become the most streamed show Netflix has ever had with a record 82 million households reached around the world. So it comes as no surprise that the show was honored with the title of one of the AFI Top TV Programs of 2020. Nicola Coughlan has definitely come out of this as a true fashion girl. She is working with stylist Aimee Croysdill and giving us looks from major fashion labels like Simone Rocha, Dolce & Gabbana, Alberta Ferretti, Batsheva, and more. So I am really looking forward to the days of in person red carpets again so that we can see all the lewks that Nicola could bring to the red carpet. Bridgerton‘s duchess herself Phoebe Dynevor is becoming a fashion girl herself as well. She was part of the virtual front row for the Christian Dior Couture show and has been embraced by Chanel. Regina King’s feature film directorial debut One Night In Miami is on the list of the AFI Awards Best Films of 2020 and I and couldn’t be more excited about the possibility of another awards season run for her. For this more casual event I would have loved to see Regina give us this super cool Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2021 moment which features a black and white polka dotted short sleeve knitted silk wool cotton shirt and a pair of grey and white pleated zebra printed crepe wide leg trousers with a wide black belted waist. I originally had a dress on this list for Regina, but this cool moment definitely spoke to Regina’s sense of style to me. It isn’t often we see couture at the AFI Awards since it is a casual luncheon setting and couture for noon is more reserved for photocalls in Cannes as opposed to luncheons in LA. That being said I felt drawn to freshly presented Chanel Spring 2021 Couture Unorthodox star Shira Haas. She has proved herself to be quite the Chanel girl after wearing several looks from the French luxury house last year including couture for the virtual Emmy Awards. Finishing out today’s wishes is Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom star Viola Davis. I always love seeing Viola on the red carpet because she has an immense love of color. So thinking about Viola wearing this bold royal purple knit Jason Wu Spring 2021 RTW short sleeve fitted dress with a round neckline. This was was one of the few looks from this collection that I really did love and I feel like it would be a beautiful moment on Viola. I want Billie Eilish to bring some fashion to the red carpet. I want to see her get away from Gucci, Chanel, and Burberry and expand her designer dossier. When I was looking at the Marques’Almeida Spring 2021 RTW collection I found myself saying that there were some really good moments I wanted to see Billie wear, and my Fashion Forward Friends podcast co-host Kelly agreed. So when I was thinking of a cool look for Billie to wear on this red carpet I turned to this army green tonal patchwork oversized double breasted suit. It fits her oversized aesthetic, but does so in a way we haven’t seen from Billie in a while. Now while I think it would be cool for her to wear this look sans top like it was presented on the runway that isn’t really that on brand for her. So I would like to see a custom army green sequined sweatshirt made to compliment this look.
