2021 SAG Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The SAG Awards broadcast is this weekend. I say broadcast because I am sure that the Screen Actors Guild has already started bringing their presenters and nominees together to record their sections as this years show will be pre-recorded and broadcast with a 1 hour television special. I am not sure how they are going to condense the whole show into just one hour, but I am sure there will be a way for them to do it. I’ve been ruminating on my wishes for this event for a while. It actually put me in a bit of a funk. I was originally going to start these as soon as I was done with my Grammy’s wishes, but because of the circumstances I just wasn’t feeling inspired. In fact until this past weekend when I finally finished putting the wishes together I was still uninspired. I will not be detailing out everyone. I have just decided that I don’t have that in me right now, but I have a couple days of detailed wishes that will culminate in a big round up style post for everyone else. I picked the stars featured in my detailed wishes based on who I was able to easily pick a look for and who I know has been turning out looks during our virtual awards season. Kicking things off is Amy Adams whom earned a surprise nomination this awards season for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Movie thanks to her role as Beverly “Bev” Vance in Hillbilly Elegy. I’ve always loved Amy and her style, but in more recent years her looks have missed the mark for me. We haven’t seen her show a fashion look since Emmy night 2019 where she wore a hideous Fendi Couture gown. I want to see her give us GLAMOUR this weekend for the SAG Awards and I know it would be a perfect moment to see her wearing this black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2021 RTW crystal embroidered halter neck column gown which features a draped bodice and keyhole bodice cutout. It is classically glamorous and I think that it would be a great moment for Amy to bring to life for the SAG Awards. I would then take this classic gown and style it with a sleek retro glam updo, thick defined soft smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black satin Tom Form ‘TF 105’ slingback pointed toe pumps, and a selection of Cartier jewels including intricate vintage white diamond chandelier earrings and a statement ‘L’Odyssée de Cartier’ white diamond cuff bracelet to really make this look scream glamour from head to toe. Over the course of this major winning awards season Catherine O’Hara has given more understand glam looks with a custom Vera Wang suit at the Golden Globes and a black Elie Saab ruffled cocktail dress for the Critics Choice Awards. For this weekends SAG Awards I would really love to see Catherine finish out the awards run for Schitt’s Creek giving us a bit of razzle dazzle wearing this black, gold, and white art deco inspired Elie Saab Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve column gown. I am SHOCKED that no one has worn this gown yet. I would have figured Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta Jones, Nadine Labaki, or Jane Fonda would have fought over this dress. Three years later we are still waiting to see it have a red carpet moment. I feel like it is totally in tune with Catherine’s chic and sophisticated sense of style and it would make sure that she sends Schitt’s Creek off in HIGH glam style. I feel like her soft wave center parted and worn down, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black satin Roger Vivier gold metal crystal buckle platform chunky heel strappy sandals, and simple elegant IVY New York red spinel and white diamond drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Emma Corrin has been serving LEWKS this awards season. She collected her Golden Globe wearing custom clown inspired Miu Miu and then went for bold 80’s inspired style with a Schiaparelli mini dress for the Critics Choice Awards. Her style has been top notch and I am sad her tenure with the cast of The Crown is coming to an end. After her wins this year I would say that her portrayal of Princess Diana has her as the favorite to take home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series trophy this year. I went for edgy glam with this silver and black Armani Prive Spring 2021 Couture sleeveless tea length gown with a halter neck vest and a spaghetti strap slip dress for Emma. Now I would ditch the belt from the runway and style this dress with her edgy cropped hairstyle, navy blue glitter Pat McGrath Labs ‘Dark Star’ smokey eyes, soft pink lips, strappy black Awge x Amina Muaddi ‘Isd Gladi’ thigh high crystal embellished sandals, and a selection of Messika jewels including asymmetrical white diamond wing cluster earrings and a white diamond fringe cuff bracelet to make sure this look is in line with Emma’s bold edgy glam style.Helen Mirren is one of the announced presenters for this weekend’s show. I have always loved seeing Helen on a red carpet and I cannot wait to see what look she will turn. She isn’t afraid of giving bold glamour on a red carpet and as I am working planning out the rest of awards season and headed into events like Cannes I cannot wait for Helen to serve more and more looks again. I was saving images from the Fall 2021 RTW collections when I saw this hot pink Tony Ward long sleeve a-line gown which features intricate beading on the bodice and sleeves, a jagged drop waist, and a tulle skirt. I immediately thought of Helen when I saw this gown and when I saw she was presenting at the SAG Awards I immediately thought of this gown. It’s such a bold statement moment and I know that Helen would be able to sell it to me easily especially with a sophisticated side parted hairstyle, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of hot pink Alexandre Vauthier crystal toe cap PVC sling back pointed toe pumps, and a bit more sparkle via white diamond Chopard ‘Precious’ collection white diamond cluster earrings. Finishing out today is Vanessa Kirby who has given some simple yet very chic looks this awards season wearing a simple black Gucci halter gown for the Globes and a red lace Saint Laurent gown for the Critics Choice Awards. I have definitely been paying attention to Vanessa and I am praying that she brings major looks to her final stops on the awards season circuit. She knows how to do major tailoring moments so I knew pretty immediately that I wanted to do this black and white Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 RTW tuxedo inspired ensemble for her to rock for the SAG Awards. I love this look which consists of a classic white button down shirt and a pair of black high waisted slim fit trousers with a major bow peplum detail. It is simple, sophisticated, and classic but in a way that SCREAMS drama. I mean can a look be classic and statement making at the same time? Because I definitely think that this look is exactly that. While Vanessa has a very no muss no fuss sense of style I think that the bow detail is within her wheelhouse. I think a sleek down hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black crystal embellished Christian Louboutin ‘Loubiloo Bling Bang’ twist strap ankle strap sandals, and Bulgari ‘Barroko’ collection white diamond and ruby bunting cluster drop earrings would ensure this look fit’s in perfectly with Vanessa’s red carpet vibe.

The 2021 SAG Awards special will broadcast on Sunday April 4, 2021.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “The Duke” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The 2020 Venice Film Festival official selection is much more Euro-centric, although not exclusively, than past editions. I feel like this was a conscious decision by festival organizers to plan for delegations from the films to actually be able to attend in person screenings at this years edition due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. We saw the Shanghai Film Festival go on with in person events and the closing ceremony gave us major fashion moments from labels like Valentino Couture, Azzi & Osta, Emilia Wickstead, Alberta Ferretti, Marchesa, and more. So I am hoping that this years Venice Film Festival will finally end the drought of glamour we’ve experienced since just after the Oscars this year. One film I hope to see have the cast on the red carpet for the premiere is The Duke which stars Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. The film is about how in 1961, Kempton Bunton, a 60 year old taxi driver, stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. He sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly. What happened next became the stuff of legend. An uplifting true story about a good man who set out to change the world and managed to save his marriage. So let’s get into my wishes shall we?I always love seeing Helen Mirren on the red carpet. She continues to deliver major fashion moments on the red carpet and I am definitely hoping she will be in Venice to promote her film. Now I would also understand if she chooses not to and join the screening virtually out of caution over COVID-19 concerns. If we do see her in Venice I’ve picked two glamorous looks for her to bring to life starting with a robins egg blue Erdem Resort 2021 ‘Mills’ jersey ruched waist midi dress which features a jewel neckline, long balloon sleeves, and pearl detail on the waist. I feel like this is a super chic moment and a nod to British designers which Helen has been known to do on the red carpet every once in a while. I decided to make this look a true homage to British fashion styling it with matching blue Malone Souliers ‘Maybelle’ wavy croc embossed pointed toe pumps. Finishing this look with a sleek bob, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and Chopard white diamond and pearl stud earrings would definitely make this a superb photocall fashion moment for Helen. For the premiere I turned to Armani Prive and this GORGEOUS ice blue band stripe ball gown from the Fall 2019 Couture which features a crystal embellished circular mesh long sleeve tunic. I love this gown and I really do think that Helen would as well. I would have some sort of nude lining added to the bodice and sleeves for her as she does like to be a little more covered. I feel like she would deliver this moment as glamour defined with a whispy bob, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a silver Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ croc embossed leather crystal clasp clutch, a pair of silver Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Monstera’ mesh paneled pointed toe crystal feather broach detailed pumps, and dazzling white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection cluster earrings. In my wishes for Cate Blanchett to bring to life in Venice this year as the festivals jury president I have given a little bit of everything. I’ve given you new, archive, re-wear, and vintage. I love that Cate isn’t afraid to dig into the archives for her looks. So I decided to dig into the archives from Jean Paul Gaultier Couture for this is. I love the film nior femme fatale glamour of this black velvet one shoulder column gown with attached white chiffon cape and sleeve from the Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 Couture. I have since it was first presented. I feel like if anyone could bring this major glam moment out of the archive and to life on the red carpet it would be Cate. I can imagine the regal glamour that Cate would infuse into this look. Personally I would love to see it styled with a sleek retro updo, defined eyes, deep red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Round Chick Alta’ peep toe half d’Orsay ankle strap platform pumps, a pair of vintage Van Cleef & Arpels white diamond and emerald art deco chandelier earrings, and a white gold set Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Ludo Hexagone’ white diamond bracelet. When it comes to fashion French actress, and 2020 Venice Film Festival jury member, Ludivine Sagnier is a little more subtle and classic. While some of the looks I’ve picked for her have pushed the boundaries on her sense of style I’ve also gone with more classic looks for Ludivine to wear on the red carpets in Venice. In today’s wishes I am going with another classic gown for Ludivine with this champagne gold crystal covered Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture strapless column gown. The gown is not a boundary pushing moment. Not for Ludivine and not for fashion, but a perfectly done classic moment can be just as impactful (and sometimes more) as a big ball gown or dramatic trains. This gown has the potential to bring a major glamour moment to the red carpet. If Ludivine stepped onto the Lido red carpet wearing this gown styled with an elegant side parted updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a ballet pink and champagne crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, gold Jimmy Choo ‘Emsy’ peep toe crisscross strap metallic leather sandals, and a vintage Bulgari white diamond art deco floral garland necklace from 1954 I know that this look would have that perfect classic glamour moment on her hands. Etro has become a major red carpet contender in the last year having dressed major stars for the Cannes Film Festival, last years Venice Film Festival, the Golden Globe Awards, and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. I can guarantee that the Italian fashion brand will have ambassadors walking the red carpet in Venice wearing their creations. I was on Etro.com looking at their stock when I saw this black crepe de chine gown which features draped detailing embellished with tone-on-tone sequin embroideries on the shoulders, a v-neckline, ruched detail, cutaway center split, and a flowing skirt with a long train. I knew I wanted to put it in my wishes for Venice, but I wasn’t sure for who. I was looking at who has worn Etro on the red carpet in the last year I saw Kat Graham at the InStyle Golden Globes party and it clicked. It isn’t a typical gown we see from Kat, but I feel like with the right styling it would be a major moment. I would go with a sleek blunt bang black bob, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Milos’ PVC strap sandals, and a statement David Webb ‘Cascade’ white diamond, emerald, and sapphire necklace to really make this the major moment I know Kat can deliver on the red carpet. As I was saving archive Armani red carpet looks there were a couple that made me think of Korean supermodel Soo Joo Park. I decided to include her in my wishes to see Armani on the red carpet, but I feel like this might be a pipe dream. See Armani has such a presence at the Venice Film Festival because Armani Beauty is a presenting sponsor of the film festival and Soo Joo is a face of L’Oreal Paris. So while I feel the two looks I’ve picked from Armani for Soo Joo are perfect for her the contractual conflict of interest probably means that these wishes are going to be just that; at least for the Venice Film Festival. It was the black and jade green liquid fiber Armani Prive Spring 2011 Couture strapless shapeless ballgown that made me want to include Soo Joo in these wishes. I love this gown, but it isn’t something that works for very many. I feel like Soo Joo who has an edgy almost alienistic sense of style would definitely be the perfect person to bring this look out of the Armani archives and onto the red carpet. I would love to see Soo Joo style this major look with a sleek side parted updo, avant garde thick lined eyes, pink lips, a pair of black satin Tom Ford squared platform peep toe ankle strap pumps, and the white diamond, emerald, and sapphire Tiffany & Co. Blue Book 2020 choker necklace that Charlize Theron wore for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. It would definitely be a major fashion moment. The second look I’ve picked for Soo Joo is also an archive moment with this black and white striped Giorgio Armani Spring 2007 RTW strapless gown which features a cutout bustier bodice with a sweetheart neckline and a tiered flamenco flounce skirt. It is the balance of avant garde styling and classic elegance that made me want to pull this gown out of the Armani Archives for Soo Joo. It is a simpler style, but I feel like she would once again make it a major fashion moment. To make it a superb high glamour moment I would love to see this gown styled with a 20s fingerwave updo, classic cat eye winged thick eyeliner, bold red lips, a pair of black leather, suede, and crystal embellished Saint Laurent knot detail sling back pumps, and a STATEMENT de Grisogono white diamond and pearl choker necklace.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Soul”

There is usually one blockbuster animated feature selected to screen as an out of competition at a gala premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Festival director Thierry Fremaux all but confirmed that Pixar’s Soul was going to fill this spot this year in an interview with Variety. The film, now set for a Thanksgiving release, looks like a smart spiritual sister to Inside Out according to Indiewire. Inside Out also screened as a gala at the Cannes Film Festival. While that movie was about the emotions that drive the human mind, Pete Docter’s followup is all about the soul that gives people their humanity. Jamie Foxx voices Joe Gardner, a mild-mannered middle school music teacher who has always dreamed of performing jazz at a lauded club, and the film follows his journey after his soul is accidentally booted out of his body. Other details are slim, but we know that Soul, which is also the rare Pixar feature focused on a person of color, will see Joe attempting to reunite his body and soul after learning some big lessons along the way. Jamie Foxx is a man with style and one of the few gentleman I included in my wishes for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. In the midst of working on my Met Gala wishes as I was contemplating what to do for the postponed Cannes Film Festival I accidentally deleted the folder containing all the runway images I reference for my wishes from a drive on my computer and lost the entire thing. So I had to rebuild it. As I was re-saving my favorites from the collections back to my drive, I saw this classically Missoni knit look from the multi earth tone Missoni Fall 2020 Menswear collection which features a long sleeve collared cardigan, t-shirt, and striped pants and immediately knew that if I was going to do Cannes wishes that it was the perfect look for Jamie to wear if he was going to attend a photocall at the festival. Well obviously I decided to do it and so when I was picking his looks I didn’t even have to think twice about this look. For the premiere I went for something classic with a dazzling twist opting for a copper threaded Celine Fall 2020 Menswear tuxedo which features black satin peak lapels. This look is definitely a great twist on classic tuxedo dressing and I feel like Jamie would definitely rock this look with effortless swagger. Now I don’t see Jamie wearing the pussy bow blouse the look was styled with on the runway instead I would recommend a black button down and a black satin skinny tie. Angela Bassett also stars alongside Jamie Foxx in Soul. This was going to be the first time Angela has attended the Cannes Film Festival since 1997. Over the last two years Angela has definitely shown us that she is a real fashion girl. She has been delivering bold, dramatic, and glamorous moments every single time she has stepped onto a red carpet. So I was really looking forward to seeing what she and her stylist Jennifer Austin were going to cook up for her turn in Cannes. I went opposite of what one would normally expect opting to pick couture for Angela to wear for her Cannes photocall while I picked a RTW gown for her to wear for the premiere. Again as I was rebuilding my archive of runway images I saw this black Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture suit which consists of a sheer beaded peplum blazer which features a dramatic sash that turns into a train and a pair of skinny fit ankle length pants and it just spoke to me as the perfect photocall moment for Angela. It is sophisticated and sexy all at the same time and out have come together perfectly with full tight curls, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black suede Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pointed toe pumps, and a pop of color via red Atelier Swarovski ‘Tigris’ crystal ear clips. For the premiere I went to a designer that Angela has worn for major events including the Emmy’s and the NAACP Image Awards: Azzi & Osta. I wanted to to see Angela bring this column gown from the Azzi & Osta Fall 2020 RTW collection which features a draped gold lamé bodice that turns into a major sash train and a black crepe column skirt. The gown is classic, but the lamé gives it a bit of edge. I think that is exactly what I think Angela should wear on a red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival promoting a film. Styling this gown with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a gold art deco pattern Judith Leiber Couture ‘Swanson Gaia’ crystal embellished clutch, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Very Cathy’ peep toe ankle strap platform sandals, and a gold crystal Atelier Swarovski by Christopher Kane ‘Golden Shadow’ slim bolster collar necklace would definitely have put the perfect finishing touches on this look for Angela. Tina Fey would have made her Cannes Film Festival debut this year thanks to Soul. The funny lady is up and down to me when it comes to her red carpet style. So had Cannes actually taken place and Tina jetted to the French Riviera I would have loved seeing her do so giving some of her best looks. For the photocall I went for light and elegant pinking this aqua Rochas Pre-Fall 2020 asymmetrically draped midi dress which features short flutter sleeves. This gown is glamorous and elegant and I just know that in the setting of that iconic balcony where photocalls take place in Cannes that this look would have screamed glamour. Style this dress with effortless waves, defined eyes, her thick black rimmed eye glasses, soft pink lips, and a pair of metallic gold Roger Vivier flower strass crystal buckle mid heel pointed toe pumps and I know that Tina would be putting her best foot forward. For the premiere I would have trusted Tina with one of my favorite looks from the Spring 2020 Couture collections with this electric blue liquid sequin Valentino sleeveless mermaid gown. If you’ve been following my Cannes wishes this isn’t the first time this gown has made an appearance. I also picked this gown for Priyanka Chopra. Both ladies I think would look fantastic wearing this gown, but each would bring it to life in a different way. I think that Tina would definitely make it more of a modern classic moment styling it with a loose updo, defined eyes, red lips, electric blue satin Aquazzura ‘Deneuve’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of Chopard ‘Magical Setting’ collection white diamond jewels including a pair of drop earrings and a matching cocktail ring. Elsa Hosk had one of the best gowns in Cannes last year channeling her inner Lauren Hutton wearing custom rainbow sherbet Etro. It was one of my favorite looks of all of last year. The gorgeous model is basically the living embodiment of Barbie and I really wanted to see her deliver glamour on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year. While I would imagine she would have been back in Cannes with Etro this year I went for goddess glamour picking this sky blue chiffon Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Spring 2020 Couture gown which features a plunging neckline, chain detail on the shoulders, knot detail on the waist, and sash scarves hanging from the shoulders. Now the gown is gorgeous all on its own, but in Cannes you have to go big or go home. So I would ask Alberta to custom make this gown for Elsa with a long dramatic train. Finish this look with old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, thick winged eyes, hot pink lips, a pair of silver crystal embellished Rene Caovilla ‘Cleo’ coil strap sandals, and dazzling de Grisogono white diamond and cabochon sapphire teardrop earrings and Elsa would have definitely had another major glamour moment for this years Cannes Film Festival. In the second wish I wanted to see Helen Mirren bring to life on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival red carpet I really wanted to see her bring this sage and brown Azzedine Alaia Fall 2020 RTW long sleeve gown which features all over pleating, a cinched waist, and a plunging neckline. When I saw this gown several months ago I knew it would be perfect for Helen and I was just waiting for the right time to make the wish. As I was pulling the wishes for Cannes 2020 together I saw this dress again and I knew it was going to be perfect. What sealed the deal was when I saw a pair of light green tsavorite and aquamarine Chopard Red Carpet Collection drop earrings that would perfectly compliment this dress. Helen knows how to sell a look and I know she would do just that with this gown. Now I can say that just as presented with those earrings, the neckline brought up just a little, a dark green satin Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ coffered clutch, and black sheer Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ sequin embroidered pointed toe pumps that this look would be perfect for Helen. But I might also want to see the dress modified to make it even more of a Cannes moment for Helen adding a train to really make sure this look exudes regal elegance. A curly updo, defined eyes, and dark antique rose pink lips would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “On The Rocks”

Especially in the last two years the Cannes Film Festival has come under fire for not giving its fair shake to female directors. From all the articles I’ve read it seemed like Cannes 2020 was going to be a lot more equitable to female directors than ever before. One film I saw talked about was Sofia Coppola’s On The Rocks a New York-set father-daughter dramedy that reunites her with longtime muse Bill Murray. Indiewire said the film seemed more committed to Venice than Cannes and Awards Daily said Coppola would “most likely be welcomed back” thanks to this film. Sofia is no stranger to Cannes three of her four feature films since Lost in Translation debuted in Cannes while the other debuted in Venice like Lost In Translation. So really it was a coin flip to see if the film would have made the cut for Cannes. When it comes to style Sofia Coppola isn’t one I would usually see her topping any Best of Cannes lists. She doesn’t embody the Cannes motto of “go big or go home” in the least bit. Simple and elegant is the code that Sofia sticks to. The two looks I wanted to see her wearing in Cannes to promote On The Rocks easily fit into that box. For the photocall I went to Sofia’s good friend Marc Jacobs and this winter white boxy trompe l’oiel wool dress which features drop-waist silhouette, round neck, princess sleeves, bow back, flared skirt, and a mini hemline from his Fall 2020 RTW collection. The simple dress is chic and I definitely see it as something 100% within her wheelhouse. It would be perfectly put together in Sofia’s way with a loose wavy center parted bob, casual defined eyes, and soft matte blush pink lips. The finishing touch I would add to this look that would definitely just elevate Sofia’s style via a pair of mustard yellow satin Roger Vivier ‘Broche’ chunky low heel embellished buckle satin pointed toe slingbacks. For the premiere I went again for something just a little more surprising for Sofia, a floor length gown. Usually Sofia picks a knee or tea length gown even for the most formal of red carpets, but when I saw this glamorous navy silk satin Chanel Fall 2019 Couture halter gown which features a black patent belted waist I knew that it would have been a major moment for her to wear for a Cannes Film Festival premiere. This gown is minimalist glamour defined which means the styling has to be perfect. So I would finish this look with a sleek side parted low bun, defined eyes, red lips, a navy satin Roger Vivier floral crystal embellished buckle clutch, a pair of navy and black satin Roger Vivier ‘Viv Bling’ strappy platform sandals, and simple white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection teardrop earrings. Jenny Slate has never been to Cannes before and honestly I don’t know what it would have brought. Her stylist Monty Jackson isn’t one I think of being able to really handle Cannes in the major way. I would hope he would be able to deliver, but I’m not sure he would. When it comes to her red carpet style her past really didn’t inform the future much for what I wanted to see her wearing for her Cannes debut. So as I was looking I found two super chic Marchesa moments I think would definitely put Jenny on top Cannes worthy form. For the On The Rocks photocall I wanted to see Jenny wearing this Marchesa Pre-Fall 2020 ensemble which features a watercolor floral print cotton corset top with a square neckline, mutton sleeves, and ruffled trim and a pair of black cotton high-rise, straight-leg, dual slit pocket pants. The look is flirty and sophisticated. The perfect balance of bohemian and structure. I think that Jenny would definitely rock this look for the photocall styled with a bouncy teased curls, defined eyes, soft pink lips, black Sophia Webster ‘Dina’ multicolored gem embellished PVC strap mules, and a pair of Atelier Swarovski vintage rose pink, white, and sunshine yellow crystal ‘Botanical Jewels by Penelope Cruz’ teardrop earrings. For the premiere I looked at this dusty dark teal blue and nude Marchesa Fall 2020 RTW ruffled tulle ballgown which features a plunging v-neckline, a sleeveless a-line silhouette, plunging open back, a tiered ruffled skirt, and crystal embellishment throughout. The gown is just a classic Marchesa moment and I think that would have been a perfect option for Jenny to wear for her first trip up those famous steps of the Palais de Festivals. To complete this look I would style it with a sleek chignon updo, smokey eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of black Sophia Webster ‘Giovanna’ glittered leather slingback sandals, and a statement white diamond asymmetrical Butani draped 5 row necklace. It would ensure that Jenny delivered nothing but glamour from head to toe for her Cannes debut. Rashida Jones also stars in On The Rocks and would have been making her Cannes Film Festival debut this year. I usually either love or loathe what Rashida is wearing on the red carpet. I was hoping to see Rashida bring her a-game to Cannes. For the photocall I turned to The Vampire’s Wife, but with a different look than we are used to seeing from the brand thanks to this pink rose liberty print ‘The Kaftan’ cotton dress which features a high pussy-bow neckline, statement balloon sleeves, a self-tie belted waist, and a pleated midi skirt. This looks speaks to the more bohemian side of Rashida’s style and would have been perfect for the Cannes photocall platform overlooking the French Riviera. Style it with a wavy bob, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of ballet pink Jimmy Choo ‘LOVE’ asymmetrical crystal embellished pointed toe suede pumps, and Jennifer Meyer small pink sapphire embellished 18k yellow gold hoop earrings to make a great casual moment for Rashida. For the premiere I went for something that speaks more to the sleek and glamorous side of Rashida’s style with this black long sleeve Valentino Spring 2020 Couture fitted gown which features silver crystal circles down the sides of the arms and and body. Now those circles expose the skin underneath on the runway, but that isn’t something that Rashida would be down for. So I would have the ones down the sides of the body lined. I don’t think that would make the gown loose any of it’s runway appeal and would make it perfect for Rashida. Of course I would also make sure that this gown hits the floor perfectly for Rashida as well. To put the perfect finishing touches on this look I would style this gown with a sleek bob, defined eyes, bold red lips, a black ostrich feather embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ clutch, a pair of black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Teja’ crystal embellished pointed toe d’Orsay pumps, and Chopard Red Carpet collection emerald circle drop earrings surrounded in white diamonds. At 74 Helen Mirren is still showing girls more than half her age how fashion is done on the red carpet. I always look forward to seeing what she will bring to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet as an ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, so I am super disappointed that we have been deprived of a super glam moment from her this year due to the Cannes Corona Cancellation. Earlier this year as I was looking at the Spring 2020 Couture collections I saw this champagne gold Rami Kadi column gown which features a square neckline, corseted bodice, long caped sleeves, and embroidery in gold, silver, and iridescent sequins and immediately earmarked it as a perfect gown for Helen to wear in Cannes. So I couldn’t let me “What Could Have Been” series go by without featuring this paring. This gown is the perfect meshing of age appropriateness, sex appeal, glamour, and drama all rolled into one fabulous package. I know Helen would have delivered this gown with regal ease styling it with a sleek bob, defined eyes, punchy pink lips, a pewter silver crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, ombre silver glitter Jimmy Choo ‘LOVE’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of eco glam Chopard Green Carpet Collection sustainably sourced diamond jewels including a pair of simple drop earrings and a simple collar necklace. Spanish supermodel Nieves Alvarez has been a fixture on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for a while. Luxury jewelry company Bulgari is typically the one who sends her to walk the famed red carpet at the Palais. When it comes to glamour Nieves typically takes more of a dramatic approach when it comes to the red carpet. So as I was looking for looks for Nieves to wear in Cannes this year I went for DRAMA. In Cannes we usually see Nieves wearing Elie Saab, Stephane Rolland, or Alberta Ferretti. All labels which we are used to seeing Nieves wearing throughout the year. Labels she is a muse for. Instead of turning to one of those labels for this wish I went to Giambattista Valli Couture because this blush pink satin and tulle asymmetric ruffled gown from the brands Spring 2020 Couture collection just spoke to me. There aren’t many with the height and presence to pull this look off and Nieves has it. She knows how to push through more dramatic and complicated confections with regal elegance and that is what I would picture this moment becoming. Style it with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, bright pink lips, a rose pink satin Roger Vivier ‘Brochamour Envelope’ white and red crystal embellished crystal buckle clutch, a pair of rose gold glitter Christian Louboutin ‘Holly’ strappy cage sandals, and of course a selection of vintage Bulgari jewels including white diamond and ruby half wreath floral bouquet cluster earrings and a three row ruby and white diamond bracelet and I know that Nieves would have given us a major Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment.

PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2020 RTW RED CARPET WISH LIST PART 3

After today I am navigating uncharted waters. This set of wishes for looks that came down the runways of Paris Fashion Week a few weeks ago really finishes out all my immediate wishes for the Fall 2020 RTW runway season. Overall I have been really impressed and honestly sad at the thought that due to the COVID-19 crisis that many of these looks will end up lost to the archives of fashion history. Even if this list is the only place we will ever get to enjoy the idea of these looks on a red carpet then so be it. At least in this time of crisis we are able to maintain a sense of fantasy when reality is do bleak.

PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2020 RTW RED CARPET WISH LIST PART 1

Paris Fashion Week might be long over, but as red carpet events are being cancelled due to Corona Virus I thought well best not to let the wishes that danced around my head as I watched the livestreams of these shows and flipped through the lookbooks on Vogue Runway. As Robert Fripp once said “In strange and uncertain times such as those we are living in, sometimes a reasonable person might despair. But hope is unreasonable and love is greater even than this. May we trust the inexpressible benevolence of the creative impulse.” We must continue to embrace our creative and optimistic sides as we take in the news daily. So with that being said I am going to try and post a little more regularly. I am still trying to work out what content will look like moving forward, but it will all be focused on bringing a little bit of fantasy and escapism to my readers. As we are self-isolating and social distancing now is a great time to engage with posts and start conversations. New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

So in a post Oscar haze it has taken a while to really soak in all of the collections and pick some superb wishes for stars to bring to life. As I pull images from the shows starts always pop through my mind. There were so many great looks that came out of New York Fashion Week this season I decided to break my wishes up into several parts (probably about 3) so the posts didn’t feel super, super long. So many looks in this list will be perfect not only for the red carpet, but also great late night show appearance looks and great street style moments. I don’t even know which of the looks below I love the most.

63 Looks From Spring 2020 Couture I Want To See On The Red Carpet

I started off Paris Haute Couture Spring 2020 Fashion Week with the intention of having a post the next morning of the favorite looks I had seen the day before with who I most want to see wearing those looks. Well life got in the way. Tuesday night I saw Celine Dion and slept as long as I could before heading to work the next day. Wednesday I had to take my mother to a doctors appointment first thing in the morning and lost my little bit of weekday morning blog time. So by then I just decided well day one is already up, but I will just do a round up including all the shows with 1-4 looks from each show being featured in one big round up list. So that is what I did. As I was putting this list together I realized that this is basically a precursor to my 2020 Cannes Film Festival wishes with major looks for L’Orealistas like Sonam Kapoor, Eva Longoria, Araya A. Hargate, Aishwarya Rai, Helen Mirren, and more to bring to life on the red carpet. It can also be a prediction for you all as it comes to what my Oscar party wishes may look like. Overall this season was very good. Aside from my now perennial favorites Givenchy and Valentino there wasn’t really much of a stand out as far as an entire collection, save maybe Armani Prive, but there were a ton of really amazing moments that are just waiting to be seen on a red carpet. I hope you are ready to see more of these looks, see some of these wishes below detailed out, and more on the race to the Oscars, Met Gala, and the Cannes Film Festival. I honestly do not know which wish here is my favorite; what’s yours?

2020 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

This is my last set of wishes for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards. I am so excited to see what everyone is going to bring to the red carpet. As I have said the red carpets leading up to this event have been awesome and I am just ready to see everyone bring their A-game to this red carpet. The theme of this set of wishes is drama and glamour. Some of these wishes are definitely more out there than that we are used to seeing from the wearers (ie. the Valentino Haute Couture gown I’ve picked for Awkwafina, the Givenchy feathered eleganza I picked for Dakota Fanning, and the ombre Marchesa gown for Tiffany Haddish) to super dramatic moments for red carpet queens like the Azzi & Osta Couture mermaid gown I want to see on Tiffany Haddish and the major modern yet classic moment from Stephane Rolland I think that Cynthia Erivo would shut down the red carpet in, but I believe that each of these moments would turn me into the heart eyed emoji making me fall back in love with red carpets again.

“Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Do you think that the Fast and Furious franchise will ever be laid to rest? Well that isn’t likely. The franchises latest spin off Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw focuses on Dwayne Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s character Deckard Shaw. It also adds several new faces I am excited to see join the franchise and as always I am excited to see what Jason’s fiance Rosie Huntington-Whitely will wear on the red carpet at the films premiere in Los Angeles on Saturday July 13, 2019.Eiza Gonzalez is definitely one of my favorite young faces to watch on the red carpet. She really showcased her style last year and I am definitely praying for something major from her on the red carpet at the LA premiere of Hobbs & Shaw. She knows how to deliver sexy and glamorous moments on the red carpet like few others can. I didn’t open my folders filled with runway and lookbook pictures to search all different designers for the perfect look for Eiza to bring to life on this red carpet. I knew immediately that I wanted to see her wearing this pool blue silk satin Rasario Fall 2019 RTW which features a mid calf length, a side slit, and an one-shoulder neckline that explodes into tiers of dramatic ruffles ruffles. The color and the drama of this look is perfect for Eiza and I really do believe that she would just ooze sexy and sophisticated glamour on the red carpet wearing this gown. A sleek updo, defined winged eyes, red lips, nude Rene Caovilla crisscross crystal embellished sandals, and a pair of Hueb ‘Mirage’ cluster earrings in white gold with diamonds and London blue topaz all would compliment this look perfectly. Helen Mirren is always one of my favorite ladies to see on the red carpet. She always loves to have fun with fashion and with an edgy blockbuster film premiere I am really excited to see what she will bring to life on the red carpet. I decided to go for the bold picking this gold metallic lamé animal print Celine Fall 2019 RTW long sleeve midi dress detailed with a dramatic cape and a belted waist. I definitely think that this look is perfect for Helen to bring to life. It has that perfect meshing of quirk and glamour to fit perfectly into Helen’s style. I would ditch the boots that the dress was paired with on the runway in favor of black Celine triangle heel pointed toe pumps with a gold metallic leather cap toe adding a chic pixie style, defined eyes, rose pink lips, and a gold glitter Edie Parker ‘Jean’ clutch to ensure this look is perfect for Helen from head to toe. It would all make for one of my favorite looks from Helen in a while. Vanessa Kirby really came into her own when it came to the red carpet last year. It made me sad her time on The Crown has come to an end, but I didn’t get too sad as I knew that her star was just starting to rise. Now she is joining the Fast and Furious franchise in Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. I am really excited to see what Vanessa has in store for us for this promo tour. For the films premiere in LA next week I would LOVE to see Vanessa give us sexy elegance wearing this white Antonio Berardi Fall 2019 RTW long sleeve gown which features intricate crystal detailing down the front and side as well as daring cutouts and a thigh high gap on one side. This gown is a little more daring than we typically expect to see from Vanessa, but I feel like this red carpet is the perfect place to help her push her boundaries and this gown does just that. I have been missing Antonio Berardi on the red carpet and I feel like this gown on Vanessa would be a perfect pairing to bring his creations to life on the red carpet. Finish this look with sleek slicked back hair, defined eyes, red lips, red nails, a silver Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ rock crystal embellished clutch, simple white Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ stiletto sandals, and a pair of absolutely dazzling Lauren Adriana ruby and diamond drop earrings from Fred Leighton and I know that Vanessa would shut the red carpet down. Finishing the list is the ultimate plus one: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She is always on the red carpet whenever her fiance Jason Statham has a film to promote. I love that because when it comes to fashion Rosie is one of my favorites to see on a red carpet. She brings this sultry and sophisticated glamour to whatever red carpet she walks. On these kinds of red carpets Rosie typically picks a black look. So I immediately thought of this black Burberry Resort 2020 long sleeve sheath dress which features a basket weave design and carwash pleated skirt. It is chic, sophisticated, and sexy. It checks all of Rosie’s typical boxes. Finishing the look with a sleek side parted low bun, defined eyes, ruby red lips, simple black Aquazzura ‘So Nude’ sandals, a pair of statement David Morris Colombian emerald and white diamond chandelier earrings, and of course Jason would ensure that Rosie owns this red carpet.

The LA premiere of Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is expected to take place on Saturday July 13, 2019.
