Cannes 2019: L’Orealista’s Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

✔ Golden Globes. ✔ Grammy’s. ✔ Oscars. ✔ Met Gala.

I have covered a huge chunk of the biggest red carpets of the year already, and the year isn’t even half over yet. Today we kick off my wishes for the next major red carpet event: the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. This is always one of my favorite red carpets of the year. At the start of my wishes for these major events I always get excited to look back at my Best Dressed of the Year lists that I have written dating back to 2011 when I started If I Was A Stylist and see how many times looks from those events have made the cut. Since I started doing those lists there has been at least one look from the Cannes Film Festival in the ranks of my Best Dressed of the Year list. Will this years edition also deliver one? I would bet on it. To kick off my Cannes 2019 wishes I am starting with, as I always do, the L’Orealista’s. These lovely ladies are global brand ambassadors for makeup and hair care brand L’Oreal Paris, who sponsors the festival. Almost every night of the festival at the main slate premiere L’Oreal sends at least 3 of its spokesmodels to walk the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals up those famous steps just to add glamour to the red carpet. Seven of the sixteen looks from the Cannes Film Festival that have made it on my Best Dressed of the Year list came courtesy of a L’Orealista. So the stakes for the looks these ladies will wear are HIGH!Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai is a fixture in Cannes and has been for more than a decade. She ALWAYS shuts down the red carpet. Last year she wore two beautiful gowns: one by Rami Kadi and the other by Michael Cinco. She almost made my Best Dressed of the Year cut, but was in my final round of slashes. I am expecting her to shut the red carpet down, as always. She finds the major moments that really get people talking. The last two years her most talked about red carpet looks have come courtesy of Michael Cinco. I thought about picking another look from the label for Aishwarya to wear this year, but decided to branch her out instead. By branch out I just mean pick looks from designers she hasn’t worn in Cannes in a really long time. Up first is a bright goldenrod yellow Ali Younes Spring 2019 Couture taffeta gown which features a straight strapless neckline, draped ruffled peplum, side split, and a dramatic train. The color is what drew me to this gown for Aishwarya. I cannot recall her wearing a color like this and I honestly think it would be DIVINE on her. The style of the gown is definitely everything that she loves and I think that with a sleek vintage 40’s inspired updo, smokey eyes, burgundy red lips, a pair of strappy gold Aquazzura ‘Gina’ metallic leather sandals, and a gorgeous diamond and yellow pearl Chopard collar necklace that this would be an amazing moment for Aishwarya to bring to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Now of course I had to pick more than one look for Aishwarya, and all of the L’Orealista’s, since they walk the red carpet several times during their time at the festival. For my second option for Aishwarya I thought I would go a little moodier picking this plum silk gazzar Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture one shoulder gown which features dramatic ruffle on the shoulder and peplum, a column skirt, and a dramatic train attached at the back of the waist. I LOVE this gown and have since it first came down the runway last July. I’m a little surprised it didn’t get snatched up during the fall film festival season or during awards season, so I am praying that it ends up on a Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I think that of everyone who is expected to be in Cannes this year that Aishwarya is the perfect person to bring such a statement gown to life on this red carpet. She has the presence to take this gown, which is already a moment in itself, and infuse this sultry (yet sophisticated) drama and glamour into a gown like this especially if styled with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of matching plum red Rene Caovilla crystal embellished platform sandals, and statement mismatched multicolor gemstone Chopard Loves Rihanna floral and butterfly chandelier earrings. The final look I want to see Aishwarya wearing during her time at this years Cannes Film Festival is this absolutely GORGEOUS Mark Bumgarner Fall 2019 Couture strapless emerald greed sequin embellished bustier gown. Aishwarya actually introduced me to Mark Bumgarner a few years ago when she wore one of his creations for a press appearance during the Cannes Film Festival. Ever since I have always looked to his collections to see if there was a perfect look for her to wear for this red carpet and the moment I saw this gown I thought it was a match made in heaven. It is a real sexy glamorous statement and I definitely think that it is something Aishwarya would own on this red carpet. Add old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, smokey eyes, bold matte red lips, a pair of emerald green satin Jimmy Choo ‘Kenny’ crystal embellished lace up sandals, and a statement diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection collar necklace to make this another perfect Cannes Film Festival red carpet moment. Supermodel Doutzen Kroes is one of many of the actual models who are a L’Orealista. The brand has a pretty decent mix of actresses, music stars, and models who represent the brand around the world. Doutzen is gorgeous. She has also been one of the L’Orealista’s who have had a Cannes red carpet moment make my Best Dressed of the Year list. That was back in 2012. I will say that sense then Doutzen’s style has seemed to evolve. She used to be all about sexy and dramatic glamour on the red carpet and I don’t feel like we have quite seen that from her in the last few years. I decided to play with a meshing of her high glam era and her current more relaxed style in my wishes for her to wear for this years Cannes Film Festival. Up first is the first custom gown I have for this years festival with this amazing electric blue custom Atelier Versace crystal mesh gown which feature a mermaid silhouette, straight neckline, satin train, and thick straps. This gown started its life as a 1990’s Atelier Versace crop top and mini skirt and quickly evolved into this major high glam moment. Now Doutzen could easily rock this color with her current style, but it has been a while since she wore a gown with a really dramatic train. What better place for a train to make a red carpet return that at the Cannes Film Festival. Pair this gown with a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Lynette’ crystal embellished sandals, and glamorous de Grisogono diamond and cabochon sapphire chandelier earrings to make it sleek, sexy, and glamorous from head to toe. Following that look I decided to shun a gown and pick some super surprising red carpet lady pants for Doutzen to rock on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. It isn’t very often we see one of the ladies, especially a L’Orealista, wearing pants on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. So picking this black Olivier Theyskens Fall 2019 RTW ensemble which features a cropped cutout silk top and straight leg high waisted crepe pants is a bit of a risk, but if anyone could sell it to me it is Doutzen. This look is sexy, edgy, and glamorous and I definitely think it is worthy of the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I would add sleek center parted hair tucked behind the ears, smokey eyes, red lips, black draped mesh Balenciaga ‘Knife’ pointed toe pumps, and a pair of statement de Grisogono emerald and sapphire drop earrings to finish this look out perfectly. For the last look I decided to go with probably the most likely of these three looks picking this black Tom Ford body-con gown which features a silver bugle beaded waist, a jewel neckline, thigh high split, and dramatic long sleeves attached to circular streamer at back. She has been seated front row at several Tom Ford fashion shows (almost always wearing one of the designers fitted gowns), worn a tuxedo from the label in Cannes last year, and wore a Tom Ford mini dress to the amfAR Gala in Cannes back in 2016. She is devoted to Tom and his designs look amazing on her. The moment I saw this gown I knew it screamed Doutzen and that I knew I had to use it in my L’Orealista wishes for her. I LOVE this gown and I want to see it be a really major moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet so I would style it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, dark red lips, a pair of black Tom Ford crystal embellished velvet sandals, and de Grisogono diamond fan drop earrings. All these looks would ensure a major Cannes run for Doutzen. Last year Helen Mirren dazzled me wearing a medieval inspired blue velvet Elie Saab Couture gown on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. She only attended the one event and I am hoping that she stays more than just a day in Cannes. I have always been a big fan of Helen’s style because she always delivers really glamorous, sexy, and fun looks on the red carpet. I don’t tend to say those last two things about many stars of Helen’s age, but she doesn’t let that number dictate what she is and isn’t allowed to wear. So I kept that idea in my mind while I was picking looks for her to wear on the red carpets in Cannes this year. The first look I’ve picked for Helen is from one of her favorite labels, Badgley Mischka. I know that Helen would be drawn to this dark gold fully sequined gown from the Badgley Mischka Fall 2019 RTW collection which features a plunging neckline, long sleeves, a belted waist, column silhouette, and a ruffled down the center of the skirt and I think it is the perfect glamour moment for her to wear on this red carpet. It definitely has that femme fatale glamour vibe to it and I know Helen could sell the gown to me. Badgley Mischka isn’t typically a label I think of when I think of Cannes, but if anyone could bring the brand from NYC to the south of France it would be Helen. Add a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘I Love Vivier’ pointed toe pumps, a Helen’s signature whispy hairstyle, defined eyes, red lips, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection yellow diamond drop earrings and I know I would love this look on Helen. Now I couldn’t go a Cannes wish list for Helen without adding a single Elie Saab moment for her to bring to life. She was honestly one of the first people whom I thought of the moment I saw this jade green Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture long sleeve mermaid gown which features an asymmetrical neckline, gold belted waist, and an asymmetrical ruffle on the skirt. I honestly think that her stylist, Lee Harris, has already called this gown in for Cannes and has it on reserve. I believe that Helen is definitely one of the major contenders to make this gown work especially if paired with a gold beaded Roger Vivier box clutch, punchy pink lips, a pair of gold Roger Vivier ‘Decollete’ crystal flower buckle pointed toe pumps, and statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection multi precious stone earrings. The last look I have for Helen is probably the one I would most want to see her wear on this red carpet. Helen loved a rock and roll vibe on the red carpet so I think she would shut down the Cannes Film Festival red carpet wearing this black Reem Acra Fall 2019 RTW long sleeve column gown which features a gold metal and crystal studs covering the gown. Now since this is Cannes I might want to ask Reem to lengthen the train of this gown to add more DRAMA, but I also think it is perfect for Helen as is. I would finish this look with dark red lips and a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Shiva’ mesh pointed toe pumpsLi Yuchun (AKA Chris Lee) is a Chinese pop star and actress. I first learned about Li back in 2013 when she made her Cannes Film Festival debut as a L’Orealista. Since that debut Li has always brought an edgy glamour to the red carpet at the festival. She brings this look that we don’t see most deliver on this red carpet. She isn’t afraid to play masculine or feminine and she isn’t afraid of the avant garde. She is one that typically likes to wear great red carpet lady pants on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet so I definitely decided to keep with that idea (mostly) for her time in Cannes this year. The first look I want to see Li bring to life is definitely one I feel like she could easily be drawn to. This black strapless Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 Couture tuxedo inspired jumpsuit which features a sheer chiffon overskirt with a dramatic train is a meshing of the masculine and feminine that I feel like Li is typically drawn to. I feel like it is a perfect look for her to wear in Cannes. Her signature grey hair styled into a sleek side parted pixie, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, simple black Christian Louboutin ‘Loubi Queen’ leather sandals, and a statement black and white diamond de Grisogono collar necklace would definitely make this a major moment for the star. Li is a face of Gucci in China and has worn custom gowns by the label on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival the last two years, so I definitely wanted to include a Gucci look for her to bring to life on this years red carpet as well. Li tends to pay some homage to her Chinese culture in at least one look she wears during the Cannes Film Festival, and recently those looks have come thanks to Gucci. So when I told Evita, who edits all my custom looks, that I wanted something that screams Gucci, but also pays homage to Chinese culture this is what she sent back. A short sleeve ballgown which features a mandarin collar, sequin dragon sleeves, intricate Chinese inspired sequin scroll work on the bodice, and a pleated tiered fan inspired ball skirt. Now Li doesn’t wear a whole lot of gowns on the red carpet, but I definitely could see her shutting down the Cannes Film Festival red carpet wearing this custom Gucci gown especially if paired with that signature sleek pixie, defined eyes, dark nude lips, red Gucci ‘Queen Margaret’ bow heel pointed toe pumps, and a pair of diamond stud earrings. Now I couldn’t finish out a set of Cannes wishes for Li without a single Jean Paul Gaultier look for her to bring to life on the red carpet. She wears a Gaultier Couture look almost every year in Cannes and this year I want to see her sell this structured black Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2019 Couture tuxedo to me. It is edgy and angular and I KNOW she would own this look on the red carpet. I would definitely keep the look uber edgy adding smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of black lace Christian Louboutin satin toe cap pointed toe booties, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection carved pendant feather embellished collar necklace to ensure Li does nothing but slay Cannes this year. Finishing out today is the beautiful bombshell Taylor Hill. I have always felt like Taylor has amazing style, but it doesn’t reach its full potential. Since is is a L’Oreal campaign girl I definitely want to see her finally make her Cannes Film Festival debut. I feel like Cannes could be a sink or swim moment for Taylor and I hope that she rises to the occasion. So for her Cannes debut I have picked three major looks for her to bring to life. The first is a custom dark water-colored Alberta Ferretti halter gown which features a keyhole neckline, beaded embroidery on the waist, and an ombre feathered hem and train. I definitely think that this gown delivers major mermaid vibes and what place better to deliver those kind of vibes on a red carpet than one set in the French Riviera. This gown is a mix of bohemian and glamour and I definitely feel like it would be perfect for Taylor to wear in Cannes, especially with a pair of gold studded Christian Louboutin ‘Jamais Azzez’ PVC t-strap sandals, a sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection gold set pink rubellite and diamond drop earrings. Following that I went for bold statement color picking this hot pink Carolina Herrera Fall 2019 RTW layered pleated tulle ball gown. I love this gown and I definitely think we will see it on a red carpet soon. For the Met Gala I wished that creative designer Wes Gordon would add a dramatic train to the gown, and I definitely want to reiterate that to make this look perfect for Taylor to wear in Cannes. Another sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of candy floss pink Jimmy Choo ‘Mimi’ metallic leather strappy sandals, and statement pink sapphire and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection pendant drop earrings would make this look a major statement moment for Taylor to deliver on this red carpet. American designers are definitely not the most popular in Cannes, but I decided that I wanted to see Taylor bring another to life at the festival anyway. I knew from the very beginning of the planning of my wishes for this years festival that I wanted to pick this femme fatale glam black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2019 RTW strapless ballgown for Taylor to deliver on this red carpet. I love how overlaid in velvet-accented embroidered tulle, its arabesque pattern grows with the fullness of the skirt for a quiet statement of sexy glamour and I definitely believe that Taylor would easily be able to sell this look to me on the red carpet. I would add a vintage inspired updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Shiloh’ crystal embellished strap sandals, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and emerald necklace to really drive home the femme fatale glamour of this gown.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival opens Monday May 13, 2019 and runs through Saturday May 25, 2019.

2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

The Oscars are tomorrow night and I am getting super duper excited about what all of the nominees, presenters, performers, and guests will wear on the red carpet. I’m not going to be able to make wishes for everyone but I have a couple more before I’m done. I knew that since Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame are gearing up to make for a HUGE commercial success year for Brie Larson that we were going to see her on the red carpet at the Oscars as one of the nights many presenters. She kicked off the tour for Captain Marvel deliver sexy structured tough girl glam in a custom Oscar de la Renta jumpsuit and I LOVED it, but to for tomorrow nights Oscars red carpet I decided to go down more of the softer more feminine side of Brie’s style. I saw this silver Rodarte Fall 2019 RTW crystal embroidered Chantilly lace one shoulder gown which features an A-line silhouette and a cascading chiffon bow at the shoulder and immediately put it on reserve in my mind for Brie to wear on the Oscars red carpet. I am going back and forth on the color. I almost would love to see Brie wear a custom black version of this gown. What do you think? Silver or Black? Either way I would style the look the same with a sleek low bun, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi plexi PVC and metallic leather strappy sandals, and simple Chopard diamond drop earrings. I always love seeing Helen Mirren on the red carpet and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet tomorrow night at the Oscars. She knows how to still have fun with fashion and glamour and sex appeal on the red carpet. I decided to go for a bigger silhouette than we have seen from her wear on the red carpet in a while with this silver beaded nude tulle Zuhair Murad Spring 2019 Couture off the shoulder long sleeve ball gown. I was looking for the perfect gown for her to wear on this red carpet and despite it being a little more revealing than what we are used to seeing from Helen on the red carpet I thought it was a perfect look for her to wear on the Oscars red carpet. I thought that Zuhair could easily add a modesty yoke to the neckline of this gown or even better customize the neckline to sit higher on Helen’s chest than it does on the model, all to protect Helen’s modesty. I think that her platinum silver hair in a chic updo, defined eyes, soft rose pink lips, silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Plexi’ pointed toe PVC paneled leather pumps, and chic Niwika ‘Hanayuki’ diamond floral chandelier earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Helen. I will honestly say I am still trying to figure out why Kacey Musgraves was announced as a presenter for the Oscars. It just don’t make any sense to me. I don’t know what her connection to the Oscars, or film in general are. I guess I will find out as I watch the red carpet tomorrow night. Despite not knowing why I still want to see Kacey deliver a really chic moment on this red carpet. Being a music star on a Hollywood red carpet can be a little tricky, but if her previous Grammy Awards looks say anything I don’t think that Kacey will have any trouble fitting right in. I wanted to have some fun with a look for Kacey and when I saw this black Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture ball gown which features a strapless velvet bustier, a pink organza ruffle and paillette flower embroidery on the waist, and a dramatic ostrich feather skirt I fell in love with the idea. Now while I fell in love with it I was a little apprehensive because it is a little more out there of a choice to wear on the Oscars red carpet, but I think that Kacey can make it work. I would keep the styling relatively simple since the dress itself is such a statement all on its own adding a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black lace Christian Louboutin ‘Follies Lace’ pointed toe pumps, and Hueb ‘Luminous’ diamond and black quartz drop earrings.Sarah Paulson gave us a small accidental tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld on the day of his death wearing a vintage Chanel look from one of his early collections for the house on the red carpet at the Costume Designer’s Guild Awards. I saw that and it made me want to look back at some of the late 90’s Chanel Couture collections that just got added to Vogue Runway to see if I could find a perfect look for Sarah to wear on the red carpet at the Oscars tomorrow night to continue to pay tribute to a true genius who has left us. I found this teal tea length gown which feature a strapless sequined peplum bustier and a silk column skirt from the Chanel Fall 1999 Couture collection and it was an easy choice for me to make. This is a gown that I feel only Sarah could pull out of the archive and make me fall in love with. I don’t know if the House of Chanel would open the archive for one last time for this red carpet or if it will be very restrictive. I would bet it will be the latter, but I still think this is a perfect look for Sarah to wear tomorrow night especially if paired with a vintage black and silver crystal embellished Chanel minaudiere, a pair of black Brian Atwood ‘Vicky’ ankle strap slingback pumps, a sleek side parted bob, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, and chic Irene Neuwirth south sea pearl and diamond pave ribbon drop earrings. Finally we have Tina Fey. When it comes to her history of Oscar gowns Tina usually delivers some of her chicest moments on this red carpet. For tomorrow nights red carpet I decided to go within Tina’s favored black box with this Schiaparelli Fall 2018 Couture strapless velvet a-line gown which features an asymmetrical silver beaded bodice. This is another gown that I am still shocked made it through all of film festival and awards seasons without being worn. It is a classically glamorous gown and I definitely think that it would work perfectly for Tina on this red carpet. A chic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black velvet Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ clutch, a pair of black crystal embellished mesh Gianvito Rossi ankle strap sandals, and vintage Fred Leighton art deco diamond drop earrings would all ensure that this is another absolutely glamorous moment for Tina to wear on this red carpet.

The 2019 Academy Awards will take place tomorrow night Sunday February 24, 2019.

“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” London Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

I am expecting of all the premieres that The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is set to have that it will be the one in London that delivers the best fashion. Most of the cast is British and they tend to save their most major moments for their home front red carpet. I am honestly really excited to see what everyone is going to bring to the red carpet at this premiere. I went bold and glamorous for almost everyone!Of my wishes for this red carpet my most subdued is the gown I’ve picked for Ellie Bamber. The gorgeous redheaded actress basically only wears Chanel or Tom Ford, and I decided to keep my Chanel wishes for her going. While I went for very bold gowns for everyone else on this list I was drawn to this simple black Chanel Fall 2018 Couture one shoulder column gown which features beautiful crystal embellishments for Ellie. I think that this simple style is very much along Ellie’s style lines and while it isn’t in color on the runway I also think that Karl could make this gown in red, royal blue, emerald green, or amethyst for Ellie as well. I really would love to see this gown in amethyst with her red hair in a romantic updo. If she stuck with the black I think defined eyes, red lips, black Chanel lambskin & grosgrain cap toe pumps, and a pair of Van Cleef & Arpels diamond garland earrings would add the perfect finishing touches. Helen Mirren is probably the person in this cast that I am most excited to see on the red carpet. She always delivers MOMENTS when she walks the red carpet and I have high expectations for the looks she will deliver while promoting The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. I wanted to play to the fantasy of the film with the look for her to wear on the red carpet at the premiere in London so when I saw this dazzling multicolored Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Fall 2018 long sleeve gown embellished with intricate sequin embellishments and feather trimming along the cuffs and hem of the gown I was immediately sold. It is definitely a very out there gown and I don’t think that many could make it work, but with her quirky sense of glamour I really do believe that Helen could really sell this look to me on the red carpet. The gown itself is such a statement that I want to keep the styling very simple with a whispy pixie style, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a navy Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ clutch, and a pair of navy lace Dolce & Gabbana ‘Bellucci’ pumps. When I was thinking about looks I want to see Keira Knightley wearing while out promoting The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, in which she plays the iconic role of the Sugar Plum Fairy, I knew that Chanel had to be in the mix. Keira has really wowed me while she has been out promoting her other film this fall Colette and done so mostly in Chanel Couture. I have been waiting to put her in this oyster grey Chanel Fall 2018 Couture tea length silk taffeta gown which features an embellished high collar neckline, bold puffy sleeves with crystal embellished cuffs, an embellished waist, high splits over a mini skirt, and beaded trimming on the seams for weeks now. I have wanted to put it on basically every wish list that Keira has appeared on since the show took place, but I have been holding it back (hoping that it wouldn’t be worn) saving it for this specific premiere. Like the Dolce gown I picked for Helen I think that this gown was made to promote this film and I really do believe that Keira would make this a major moment. It honestly (with the perfect styling) could be a Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment. Speaking of that perfect styling I think that this gown is a statement in itself so I want to make some simple choices adding a romantic updo, smokey eyes, dusty rose pink lips, silver Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Mira’ pearl detail sandals, and Chanel Fine Jewelry pearl and diamond feather earrings to really make this a perfect moment from head to toe. As Clara I am expecting Mackenzie Foy to really deliver some major moments on the red carpet over the course of this promo tour. I am expecting that the London premiere is going to be the most fantastic of them all. I decided to up the princess glamour even more from the Rodarte gown I picked for Mackenzie to wear for the films premiere in LA with this beautiful pink Georges Hobeika Fall 2018 Couture gown which features a corset vest inspired embroidered bodice and a tiered full ball skirt. I know that this is that frothy tulle moment we usually see from a Fanning sister, but I think that for this premiere that this would really be the perfect moment. Stand alone movie premieres usually don’t usually warrant such bold style moments, but I really do believe that this is the perfect gown for this moment. I believe that with a romantic updo, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of pink velvet Sophia Webster ‘Royalty’ tiara inspired sandals that this would be the most major moment that Mackenzie has ever had.

The LA premiere of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is expected on Thursday November 1, 2018.

“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

When it comes to movie premieres Disney knows how to go all out for its major blockbuster films. I am really excited to see what everyone in the cast of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms will bring to the red carpets as they promote the film. I haven’t officially confirmed that there will be a premiere of this film in London, but I have heard that it is likely that it will have a red carpet premiere in LA on Monday. There are actually three ladies in cast of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms that are Chanel girls, but in this set of wishes I only have one of them in a Chanel dress for the red carpet. Ellie Bamber almost always wears Chanel on the red carpet and I’m not really expecting anything different from her has she goes out and promotes this film on the red carpet. While I would typically pick a gown for this kind of movie premiere for everyone in the cast I think that this Chanel Fall 2018 Couture cocktail dress which features a structured orange, green, and black structured sequin bustier bodice and a bell shaped feather detailed skirt is definitely able to hang with the other looks I’ve picked for the cast to rock on this red carpet. I think that it fit’s Ellie’s very strong and glamorous style and I definitely think that if any of the current Chanel ambassadors could really sell this look to me on a red carpet it would be Ellie. The dress itself is such a statement that I would just pair it with a romantic updo, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of black Chanel ‘Grosgrain’ wedge sandals to really ensure head to toe perfection. I always get excited when I see that Helen Mirren is part of a cast. She has incredible style that always looks modern and glamorous. When she steps out for the LA premiere of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms I really want to see Helen deliver some real glamour on the red carpet. She tends to favor certain brands on the red carpet and recently that has been Valentino. So it was a pretty easy decision to pick this gorgeous champagne Valentino Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve gown which features ruffled details, intricate beading, and a raspberry pink silk waistband. This gown is definitely more ‘matronly’ than we are used to seeing Helen bring to the red carpet, but I definitely think that given the air of the film that it just would fir perfectly. Her signature short pixie, defined eyes, nude lips, a custom Valentino satin clutch to match the waistband, and a pair of beige Manolo Blahnik lace embellished pumps would add the perfect finishing touches to this very glamorous ensemble. Keira Knightley is the cast member we all would expect to wear Chanel for this premiere, but to be honest I wanted to see her branch out a bit from the brand for this red carpet. She has been stepping out here and there with looks from Erdem, Prada, and Bora Asku recently so when I was thinking about what I wanted her to wear during this promo tour I decided I didn’t want it to be all Chanel (don’t worry I have a major Chanel moment planned for my wish for her to wear for the films premiere in London) so I started to think of other brands I wanted to see her wearing. I have been obsessed with the Richard Quinn Spring 2019 RTW collection since I first saw the pictures and I really want to see it embraced on the red carpet. While most of it was very out there, too out there for Keira’s style typically, there were a few options I could easily see her being drawn to. This ice white sleeveless flapper inspired dress which features intricate beaded embroidery and a midi hem is definitely one of them. She does vintage glamour so easily and I think that she would more than do this dress justice especially when paired with a romantic updo, smokey eyes, nude glossy lips, a pair of silver Tabitha Simmons ‘Eve’ sandals, & Chanel Fine Jewelry diamond cluster earrings. Mackenzie Foy started to gain acclaim when she played Renesmee in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts 1 & 2. She has also had role in films like The Little Prince, Interstellar, and The Conjuring. This year though Mackenzie has really been embraced by the world of fashion. She has been rocking Chanel, Rodarte and Erdem on red carpets just this year alone. In fact the designers she has been wearing have actually been the same favorites of her The Nutcracker and the Four Realms co-star Keira Knightley. As the main star of this film it could be very likely to see Mackenzie wearing something from Chanel Couture, after sitting front row at the Fall 2018 Couture show, for this red carpet, but I decided not to go down that route. Instead I wanted to go for something more of a princess moment with this ice blue Rodarte Fall 2018 RTW strapless tulle drop waist gown which features a straight neckline, fabric flower embellishments, and an a-line silhouette. This is definitely a very flirty and feminine gown and I think it would be a perfect moment for the 17 year old actress to bring to life for this red carpet. I believe that this gown is beautiful and would be perfectly complimented with a pair of chic matching ice blue Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ suede sandals, a sleek bun updo, defined eyes, pink lips, and Tiffany & Co. diamond and aquamarine drop earrings. American Ballet Theater’s prima ballerina Misty Copeland plays the character of The Ballerina in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. We don’t often see Misty on the red carpet so it was kind of challenging to find the perfect gown for her to wear on this red carpet. I decided to go a chic, glamorous, and simple route opting for this dark blue Jason Wu v-neck crinkle chiffon gown which features an asymmetrical pleated bodice, a defined waist, and a flowing a-line skirt. Is this something that would bust a best dressed of the year list? No, but it is an absolutely beautiful moment and I do believe that it would be major on the red carpet at this premiere. Navy defined smokey eyes, sleek vintage inspired updo, dark dusty rose pink lips, a navy glitter Marchesa marbled acrylic clutch bag, dark blue Tom Ford velvet ankle strap sandals with a rock crystal embellished heel, and a pair of Martin Katz diamond and sapphire drop earrings would all ensure that Misty is able to hang with the high fashion heavy hitters that also star in this film.

The LA premiere of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is expected on Monday October 29, 2018.

Best Dressed at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival came to a close this past Sunday and it definitely lived up to the expectations that I had for it. While there were some people like Uma Thurman, Riley Keough, Blake Lively, Elle Fanning, and Camila Cabello that I missed dearly there were still plenty of fashON moments over the course of the festival. A lot of looks I was never expecting and a lot of gowns I wanted to see worn over the course of the festival. Each of the jury members really shut down their wardrobes and so did the L’Orealista’s and the stars promoting films. Usually for one event I would just do a top 10 looks from the red carpets, but since Cannes is always PACKED red carpet wise I always have a hard time narrowing down the 150+ looks, so I bring the glam down to my favorite 21 looks over the course of the festival. There are looks worn for premieres, parties, and photocalls that just made me fall in love. Two looks from this list last year made my Best Dressed of the Year list, who do you think will be my favorites still come the end of the year?1) Cate Blanchett in custom Mary Katrantzou at the premiere of Cold War 2) Aishwarya Rai in custom Michael Cinco Couture at the premiere of Girls Of The Sun

Cannes 2018: L’Orealistas Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

Today I have two sets of wishes for the L’Orealistas who are tasked with adding glamour to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. My first set of wishes today is chock full of the ladies who really make my heart start to race. They embody the go big or go home mentality of the festival and I am always looking forward to seeing what they are going to bring to life on those famed steps. Last year Thai actress Araya A. Hargate redefined what maternity style is on the Cannes red carpets wearing statement gowns from Ralph & Russo, Zuhair Murad, Olivier Theyskens, Alexis Mabille, and Giambattista Valli Couture. She started the festival strong and kept her magic going with every red carpet that she stepped onto during the festival. I am really excited to see what she has in store for us this year. I had so many options that I honestly had a really hard time narrowing down to just three options. In fact as I was writing this list I changed my mind yet again. I definitely kept the go big or go home mentality alive picking three major ballgowns for Araya to bring to life on this years red carpets. First is this teal ombre Marchesa Fall 2018 RTW layered ruffled tulle ballgown which features an off the shoulder neckline, a fitted bodice, and a full skirt. Something tells me that after almost a half a year being shunned by the Hollywood elite that May will see the return of Marchesa to the red carpets and I honestly think that Araya is the perfect person to bring this dramatic and glamorous gown to life on the red carpet. The second gown I picked for Araya I had to put on an Instagram poll. This pink orchid inspired Moschino Spring 2018 RTW gown was actually worn back in February by Italian television hostess, actress, model and singer Michelle Hunziker while she was hosting the Sanremo Music Festival. It was a pretty split return on whether or not rerunning this gown at the Cannes Film Festival would have been a hit or a faux pas, ultimately I decided that I think that on Araya it would be quite a different moment and that if anyone could sell a more costume-y gown like this on the festivals red carpet that she would be the one to do it. Finally I picked a chic Ralph & Russo gown which features a black strapless velvet bustier and a white textured rose ball skirt with a high low hem. Araya usually snatches a Ralph & Russo gown up for the Cannes red carpet and I definitely think that this really glamorous gown is the perfect moment from the brand for her to bring to life on the red carpet. She could also very likely snatch the purple gown I want to see Elle Fanning bring to life on this years red carpet. Whatever Araya decides to wear on this years festival red carpets I am sure that she will bring bring the major glamWhen Cheryl Cole first started to make the rounds at the Cannes Film Festival she always wowed me in designs from brands like Stephane Rolland, Versace, and Roberto Cavalli Couture and that set a high bar for the glamour I expect from her. So the gowns from Monique Lhuillier, Zuhair Murad, and Naeem Khan that she has wore in more recent years haven’t lived up to the glamour that I have come to expect from Cheryl. She tends to only do one night in Cannes and I am hoping that after skipping the festival following the recent birth of her son last year that Cheryl will be back on the red carpets this year with some really strong looks that put her back on the top of the Cannes fashion game. I went shopping the runways for the perfect gowns for Cheryl to wear this year. I tend to think that she gives her best moments when she mixes classic and modern glamour and I tried to embody that in all of my wishes. I definitely think that this black velvet Armani Prive Fall 2016 Couture ball gown which features a structured strapless bustier bodice and a tiered skirt is that perfect meshing of classic and modern glam and I just know that Cheryl has the presence to really make this gown come to life on the red carpet. On the more modern side of the spectrum of my wishes for Cheryl is my second wish for her to rock. This white Georges Chakra Spring 2018 Couture gown which features and iridescent sequined cap sleeve bodice and an asymmetrical ruffled mermaid hem with sheer panels is definitely a sleek, yet flirty modern glam moment and it kinda reminds me of the styles that Cheryl used to wear when she really wowed me on the Cannes red carpet. The sequined tulle bodice is a little sheer so all the right undergarments are going to be required to ensure there are no visible undergarments, nipples, crotch, and preferably no visible bellybutton like there was on the runway. If Cheryl can execute that perfectly I definitely think that she would have one of my favorite festival moments in this design. The final gown I picked for Cheryl falls on the flirty and feminine side of glamour. Cheryl has never worn a ball gown on the Cannes red carpet, and I do think that blush pink Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture strapless peplum gown is a really perfect moment for her to finally deliver that typical Cannes go big or go home moment on that famed red carpet. Helen Mirren was named a L’Orealsita in 2014, and since then she has only attended Cannes as a L’Orealista once in 2016 wearing a simple Jacques Azagury tea length gown. I love Helen and I love her style so I really want to see her own the red carpet at this years festival wearing some of the most beautiful gowns. Helen definitely knows how to bring her own level of sex appeal and glamour to the red carpet. The first look I have here for Helen is probably the most out there. I have gone back and forth on my feeling about this black lace and nude tulle Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve, a-ling gown which features an asymmetrical layered skirt, defined waist, and strong shoulders. Something about this gown screams Helen, but also I’m not sure if the proportions are 100% right for her. I want to say that this would be a really epic moment, but I know that would totally be dependent on perfect tailoring. The second look I picked for Helen is much more of a classic Helen look, but in a bright bold color. While we usually see Helen wearing white and ivory or black and navy I think that she would look absolutely phenomenal wearing this red Marchesa Pre-Fall 2018 lace and satin gown which gown features a high rounded neckline, semi sheer bodice with 3D organza and lace petals, a dramatic bow on the back, a ball skirt, and long lace sleeves. Rounding out this list is another new designer for Helen to rock on the Cannes red carpet, Stephane Rolland. I have long felt that Stephane Rolland is perfectly suited for the Cannes red carpet. They both have a certain level of drama and glamour and his gowns usually make my best dressed at the festival list. I definitely think that Helen would have one of her best red carpet moments with this black Stephane Rolland Spring 2015 Couture long sleeve, tea length ball gown which features a high squared neckline and tuck draped skirt. While I tend to find black gowns boring and falling to the side of color and texture, but sometimes gowns like this come up and I really think that Helen would sell this gown to me on the red carpet. I am really excited to see what Helen has in store for this years festival. Supermodel Liya Kebede isn’t really a gown girl. Over the years she has mostly worn short dresses from edgy brands like Louis Vuitton, Paco Rabanne, Roberto Cavalli, and Proenza Schouler. Though she has worn some cool gowns from Haider Ackermann and Roberto Cavalli as well. I went down a route of picking the perfect short and midi dresses, and one gown, for Liya to wear on the Cannes red carpets this year. Up first is the shortest, and edgiest, of the dresses I have picked for Liya. I love a good feather moment on the red carpet and I definitely believe that Liya would sell this black Alberta Ferretti Fall 2018 silk feather mini dress which features an illusion v-neckline and long sleeves to me on the red carpet. I would usually only save a dress like this for the red carpet at a regular movie premiere or party, but if anyone can compete with a couture ball gown wearing this dress on a Cannes premiere red carpet Liya would be the one to make me fall in love. Speaking of a look I would never pick for anyone but Liya for a Cannes premiere is this black and white Paco Rabanne Fall 2018 RTW ensemble which features a nautical stripe cap sleeve midi t-shirt dress which is layered under a silver chain mail slip dress. This is yet another example of a look that on anyone else I would ask what are they thinking, but on Liya I would definitely buy it. The final look I’ve picked for Liya is one that is much more in tune with typical Cannes expectations. I love the simple silhouette of this long sleeve Valentino Spring 2018 Couture floral embroidered gown which features a ruffled neck and cuffs, a sheer bodice, and a contrast skirt and I think that the easy glam of this look would make it a really beautiful gown moment for Liya to bring to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Rounding out today is one of the queens of the Cannes Film Festival red carpets, Sonam Kapoor. Over the last two years Sonam has stuck to a series of gowns by the same designer for her red carpet appearances. Last year she rocked the red carpets exclusively in Elie Saab Couture with pink chiffon cape sleeves and gold palm embroidery and the year before she was exclusively in Ralph & Russo with a 3D floral cape and a dramatic white sari inspired gown. I went down a while gambit of gowns for Sonam, but honestly I decided to go outside of all of her normal brands and pick dramatic gowns that I feel like only she would sell me on this red carpet. The first is a 40’s inspired Sebastian Gunawan Spring 2018 Couture gown which features puffy sleeves, lace bodies, a gold column skirt, and a dramatic crinoline train. I found the Sebastian Gunawan label earlier this year by accident. This collection came up on auto play after I watched the Paolo Sebastian Spring 2018 Couture show and I was totally captivated. I saw so many beautiful gowns and I would love to see Hollywood (and beyond) stylists discover the brand and embrace it on the red carpet. Sonam knows how to deliver dramatic glamour on the red carpet and that is exactly what this gown is. I know she would go full theme with the beauty look too which would make it just that much more of a glamorous moment. In the past we have seen Sonam rock the red carpet in Cannes wearing a design that really represents her homeland of India. Instead of the typical Sari this year I decided to pick a dramatic gown from and Indian based designer. So on a hunt I went. The moment I saw this pale pink Shriya Som off the shoulder gown which features a sheer asymmetrical tiered ruffle design I knew I had found the perfect gown for Sonam to represent India on the Cannes red carpet. The gown is very flirty and feminine and I definitely think that with the right styling that it would be gorgeous. As a Chopard aficionado I would love to see Sonam pair this gown with a brand new Chopard champagne diamond open front collar necklace from the red carpet collection which recently was presented at the annual Baselworld conference. For my final look for Sonam I dove deep into the Stephane Rolland Archives. He really is an under utilized designer who creates really glamorous and dramatic styles. I remember seeing this burnt saffron strapless Stephane Rolland Spring 2011 Couture draped gown when it was presented and thought it would make for a really glamorous red carpet moment, and have been surprised that it never has been given the red carpet moment that it deserves. I honestly believe that Sonam is the perfect person to bring this gown out of the archive and give it a red carpet moment. In a roundabout kind of way I could see how this gown could mimic the idea of a Sari and some high jewelry takes on traditional Indian jewelry styles could make this another beautiful high fashion tribute to her heritage.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.

2018 Academy Awards: Presenters Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

Every day goes by and I get more and more excited about what will happen on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night. This years crop of nominees, presenters, performers, plus ones, and guests are some of the most glam ever and I feel like they are ready to deliver some really major moments on the Oscars red carpet to close out Awards Season. I’ve put more emphasis on adding menswear into my wish lists this year, and I think I have done a pretty good job at it. Some of Hollywood’s leading men make it easier to make these wishes because they aren’t afraid of taking risks, like Ansel Elgort. Ansel is a real fashion guy and he isn’t afraid to take a risk. I am hoping that when he steps out on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night that he gives a visually inspired menswear moment on the red carpet. I feel like he would deliver that inspired moment wearing this dark amethyst velvet Ralph Lauren Fall 2017 Menswear tuxedo jacket paired with a crisp white shirt and black tuxedo pants. Classic cut with a bold color twist can make for a really chic menswear moment and that is exactly what this purple velvet jacket does for this one. Add a pair of black Gianvito Rossi ‘Vittorio’ patent leather and suede lace up shoes, simple black velvet Eton bow tie, and a black and white Etro pocket square in paisley print to really ensure this look is perfection. Ansel’s Baby Driver co-star Eiza Gonzalez has been also tapped as one of the many presenters at this years Academy Awards, which will be her first. She has definitely been a star to watch over the last year delivering major moments from Ralph & Russo Couture, Marchesa, Rami Al Ali, Christian Dior, and Romona Keveza on many different red carpets. For her first Oscars I went for major glam for Eiza with this hot off the runway silver lamé Alberta Ferretti Fall 2018 RTW gown which features ruching details, crystal beaded details, and a really daring plunging neckline. The gown might be a little too sexy as is for the Oscars red carpet, but I think that Eiza could totally make it work on the red carpet. She could also add fabric to the two crystal trimmed cutouts on the bodice. I think that either way that Eiza would definitely ooze sexy glam on the Oscars red carpet. I would love to see her style this gown with a romantic updo, smokey eyes, punchy pink lips, a gunmetal grey glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ clutch, anthracite grey Jimmy Choo ‘Annie’ stiletto sandals, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond chandelier earrings to really ensure that from head to toe that this look just screams glamour. Helen Mirren is a queen on the screen and on the red carpet. She even has an Oscar for playing the Queen, Elizabeth not Beyonce. She will be one of many former Oscar winners who have been announced as a presenter for Sunday nights Oscars. While I tend to love Helen’s style I tend not be a huge lover of the gowns the has worn on the Oscars red carpet in the past and I am praying that this year she will deliver her most glam moment yet. I saw this antique gold Zuhair Murad Spring 2018 Couture gown come down the runway during Paris Fashion Week and Helen immediately came to mind. I think from the v-neck to the long sleeves and the a-line skirt to the intricate beaded embroidery that this gown is right up Helen’s ally and I think that it is a perfect Oscars red carpet moment. I would have the gown lined in champagne silk so that it still holds its light air, but maintains modesty for the 72 year old actress. I would style this gown with a vintage inspired updo, rose pink lips, defined eyes, a pair of champagne silk Casadei peep toe pumps, and a statement vintage Van Cleef & Arpels diamond necklace to really turn this look from glam to regal.Jane Fonda is another of the former Oscar winners that will be on the red carpet at the 2018 Academy Awards. I adore Jane’s (usually) age defying sex appeal on the red carpet, and I am praying that on Sunday that we will see that iconic sex appeal on the red carpet. I would love to see Jane snatch this black Saint Laurent Fall 2018 RTW column gown which features a bare sculpted decollete and long sleeves. This gown literally walk the Paris Fashion Week runway two days ago. I had actually picked a dazzling beaded Cavalli Couture gown for Jane, but then I saw this gown on the runway and changed my mind. I would love to see Jane amp up the glam of this rather simple gown with a black satin Roger Vivier feather embellished, crystal pilgrim buckle clutch, a pair of black Roger Vivier crystal buckle sandals, her signature hair, defined eyes, red lips, and a statement Cartier sapphire and diamond collar necklace.Sandra Bullock has been in relative hiding. She hasn’t made a red carpet appearance in over a year. I would imagine that we will start seeing her show up for more events to keep up appearances ahead of the premiere if Oceans Eight in June. The former Best Actress winner will be back on the Oscars red carpet for the first time in four years. I went to a brand that has really made an impact on the red carpet scene since Sandra stepped out of the spotlight, Monse. I feel like the brands effortless approach to glamour would be right up Sandra’s ally which is why I would love to see the brands creative directors Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim take this navy and black Monse Fall 2018 RTW half velvet, half sequin midi gown which features an off the shoulder neckline, long sleeves, ruched detail at the midline, and a draped asymmetrical hem and have it turned into a full length gown with a trailing train. I think that while some of the friends of Monse might be on the Oscars red carpet this year I think that Sandra would be the perfect person to give the brand its first Oscars moment. Style it with a charcoal Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ marbled plexi clutch, navy Jimmy Choo ‘Kayden’ sandals, a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of modern Gilan diamond and sapphire chandelier earrings to ensure Sandra’s red carpet return is a best dressed moment.

The 2018 Academy Awards are Sunday March 4, 2018!

2018 Golden Globe Awards: Best Actress in a Movie Comedy Nominee Red Carpet Wish List

Since there are so many wishes to make in just a short amount of time I decided to double up some days of wishes for the 2018 Golden Globe Awards. I am expecting some really beautiful moments on this years red carpet from all of the stars are both nominated and presenting. I am wondering how this trend of stars who stand in solidarity with the #MeToo moment by wearing black on the red carpet. Initially when I heard that we would be seeing a sea of black gowns on the red carpet at the Golden Globes my reaction as ughhhhhhhhh, but then I started to think. This year there were a lot of really striking black gowns on the red carpet like Lara Stone in Balmain at the Cannes Film Festival, Laura Dern in Proenza Schouler at the Emmy Awards, and Brie Larson in Oscar de la Renta at the Oscars. I also looked through the runways and found that there are a lot of really great black gowns that are anything but basic. So I am a little more interested to see what will come from this red carpet now. Emma Stone won a Golden Globe this year for her performance in La La Land and is nominated again in the same category for the 2018 ceremony. With the win from this year we could have already expected to see Emma on this red carpet, but with a nomination for Battle of the Sexes I have a higher expectation about what she will wear. Earlier this fall Emma was announced as a face of Louis Vuitton and so far she has given us a good range of designers on the red carpet. She hasn’t become that just Louis Vuitton one trick pony that most LV ambassadors have become. I decided that since there aren’t any good looks for the Golden Globe Awards from LV that I would buck the brand in favor of this black strapless Armani Prive Fall 2017 Couture ball gown which features a sequined bustier and a tiered tulle a-line skirt which features blue and pink embroidered details to make this gown just a little more visually glamorous. I had already picked this gown before the announcement of the wardrobe protest, and it was one of the designs that made me start to change my mind about what not loving the idea of a sea of black gowns. When I was searching for the perfect accessories for this look I found a multicolored sequined Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Malle’ clutch that matches the subtle color details in this gown perfectly. Add a romantic updo, smokey eye, bright pink lip, black Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong’ sandals, and a pair of diamond and ruby Louis Vuitton High Jewelry drop earrings to really ensure that Emma shuts down the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. Helen Mirren was one that I wasn’t really expecting to see nominated, but I was glad to see get one for her performance in The Leisure Seeker. I love seeing Helen on the red carpet because she always bring something that is incredibly chic, but always has a fun factor to her looks. For the red carpet at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards I went into the Valentino archives to pick the perfect gown for Helen. Since Maria Grazia Chiuri left Valentino to head Dior we haven’t seen anyone wearing a look from any of the collections that she worked on with former co-designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, who is now the sole creative director of Valentino. It is a shame because there are a lot of really beautiful gowns still in the Chiuri/Piccioli archives that deserve red carpet moments. This blue floral brocade long sleeve ballgown from the Valentino Fall 2012 Couture collection is one of those pieces that I hope do get dusted off and worn by someone at some point and I think that it would be a perfect option for Helen to rock on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. This gown just oozes sophistication and I think that Helen would carry it extremely well. Styling it with a pair of dress blue Schutz ‘Hara’ satin sandals with a crystal heel, smokey eye, light pink lips, a chic updo with blue streaks, and a pair of diamond and sapphire Tiffany & Co. cluster earrings all would really make sure that this is a truly glamorous moment for Helen. Margot Robbie has a good chance of taking home this trophy next year for her portrayal of Tonya Harding in I, Tonya and I am really praying that she will deliver something really major on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. I would most likely expect Margot to wear something custom for this red carpet, but how gorgeous would Margot be wearing this liquid gold velvet Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture column gown which features beautiful beaded details and a dramatic train. This gown is glamour defined and I am honestly shocked that not a soul has snatched it up yet. It is a gown for a grand occasion and I do think that the Golden Globe Awards red carpet is a perfect platform for it. I believe that with a gold Judith Leiber Couture ‘Prism’ polished metal coffered rectangle clutch, a pair of gold Giuseppe Zanotti jeweled three strap sandals, romantic updo, light smokey eyes, a nude glossy lips, and a beautiful vintage gold Van Cleef & Arpels diamond encrusted tassel rope bracelet Margot would have a winning look for if she does win.Saoirse Ronan is who I expect is the favorite to win in this category this year for her performance in Lady Bird which has given her many of honors and accolades already. I will not tell a lie that while I didn’t pick a totally new gown for Saoirse to wear for the Golden Globe Awards I did swap the gowns I had initially picked for her to wear for the Globes and SAG Awards since I had a black gown on my SAG wish list for her. I saw this black Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 velvet gown with a sparkling tulle train and a crystal belt buckle and Saoirse was one of the first few people that immediately came to mind, so I thought it would be a really great glamorous gown for Saoirse to possibly win wearing. This gown is dramatic and beautiful, but with one hair out of place this look could be very boring. A sleek updo, kohl rimmed eyes, a bold red lip, black Gucci ‘Ilse’ crystal embellished sandals, and a selection of Neil Lane diamonds including a pair of black diamond teardrop earrings and a statement cuff bracelet all would ensure that this look is perfection.

The 2018 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday January 7, 2018.

2017 AFI Fest Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The AFI Fest has long been the last film festival stop on the road to awards season. Several of the films that are screening at this years festival have been thrown around as potential awards season contenders I am really excited to see the stars of these films step out and really deliver beautiful moments on the red carpet as they promote them and campaign for Critics Choice, Golden Globe, and Academy Awards.Call Me By Your Name is probably the one movie that I have heard about from festival season that I most want to physically sit in a movie theater and see. The film has screened in Berlin, Toronto, San Sebastian, and is now destined for the AFI Fest. If this movie gets any award season love it will be seen as the little movie that could. Most films that make their debut at the Berlin Film Festival don’t go very far but with honors at the Hollywood Film Awards and nominations for the Gotham Independent Film Awards all under its belt I am really excited to see where it is headed. Armie Hammer is one of the best dressed guys in Hollywood and I am hoping that he will have an awards season run that rivals those of Eddie Redmayne. For the AFI Fest I would love to see Armie give an absolutely major red carpet moment in this purple Calvin Klein Spring 2018 Menswear double breasted suit. It has been a while since Armie has worn a bold colored suit on the red carpet. He has given great looks in pink Tom Ford and red Gucci in the past and I think that this would be a great change of pace from the black, blue, grey, and tan suits that he has worn a lot of recently. A crisp white Calvin Klein 205w39nyc patch detail button down, a steel graphite plaid Calvin Klein tie, and a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Penn’ studded toe derbies all would make this such a major menswear moment on the red carpet. Following her acceptance of the Hollywood Supporting Actress honor at the Hollywood Film Awards for her work in the film I, Tonya I would love to see Allison Janney continue to promote herself and the film on the road to the Oscars at the 2017 AFI Fest. I, Tonya will be screening as a special screening at this years festival so I am expecting some of the cast to step out for this red carpet. Allison seems to be the one with the most buzz behind her at this point so I would find it a safe bet that she will do the dog and pony show walking the red carpet at this premiere. I think that this metallic black, nude, and silver St. John Resort 2018 pleated, sleeveless midi dress which features a beaded waist would be a gorgeous look for Allison to wear on the AFI Fest red carpet. This might seem more perfect for a press appearance, but I think that with the much more laid back vibe of the AFI Fest that this dress would be a perfect look for her to wear on the red carpet. Loose waves, a black Gucci ‘GG Marmont’ chevron quilted leather flap clutch, a smokey eye, glossy nude lip, and a pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Ada’ sandals with a gold heel all would elevate this look a look that epitomizes laid back glamour. While I went for a more casual approach to glamour for Allison to wear for the AFI Fest premiere of I, Tonya when it came to the look I picked for Margot Robbie it is all about flashy glamour. I think that Margot would definitely take this lime green Gucci Spring 2018 RTW long sleeve mini dress which features a plunging neckline and make it a totally major red carpet moment. I would elect not to have Margot wearing the nude crystal embellished bodysuit that was layered under the dress on the runway. It is dazzling and does add something to this dress for the runway, but I have a feeling that since Margot is playing ice skater Tonya Harding that the bodysuit would read as a little too ice capades. I would love to see Margot pair this dress with old Hollywood waves, a bright pink lip, and a pair of black Gucci ‘Regina’ pearl studded leather t-strap sandals to really make this a totally beautiful moment for the AFI Fest.I have to say I had high expectation for Helen Mirren during her film festival tour promoting The Leisure Seeker, but I have been really disappointed. Helen has always been one of my favorite stars to see on the red carpet, but recently it seems like all of her looks are the same. I went through many different designers before I went on a search for Jacques Azagury. Helen has worn Jacques Azagury a few times on the red carpet and always looks gorgeous wearing his creations. I think that Helen would look ever so chic wearing this black Jacques Azagury Fall 2017 Couture sheath dress which features long star embroidered sheer sleeves. This look is pretty classic, but I think that when it comes to Helen that elevated classics are exactly what makes her so good. I never expect crazy moments, though Helen has had several (from lucite stripper heels to pink pixie hair,) and I think that for the AFI Fest I would think that this dress would look oh so chic. I think that this look would be finished perfectly for Helen’s AFI Fest red carpet appearance with a wispy hairstyle, smokey eye, red lips, a simple black Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ clutch, and adding fun with a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pumps with silver star studs.Last up for today is the always gorgeous Jessica Chastain whose film Molly’s Game is being presented as a special screening at this years AFI Fest. Jessica has had a lot of really beautiful moments on the red carpet this year, but there hasn’t really anything that has been a major wow. Now I don’t think that the AFI Fest is going to be the place that I get a major wow on the red carpet, but I think that we could definitely have a really gorgeous moment. This purple and grey brocade Zac Posen Spring 2018 RTW origami folded cocktail dress would be something absolutely amazing on Jessica. I think that the colors would pop against her pale, peachy skin-tone and flaming red hair making for a totally beautiful moment. Adding just a pair of silver Sophia Webster ‘Lilico’ crystal beaded lamé ankle wrap sandals, simple makeup, and a chic updo would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Jessica.

The 2017 AFI Fest opens November 9, 2017 and runs through November 16, 2017.

2017 Toronto International Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 12

We have reached the beginning of the end of my final full day of wishes for the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. I have five more wishes for this years festival today and five more tomorrow and then we are done! I honestly feel like I just started posting these wishes and now we are nearing the end. The festival itself kicks off next Thursday and we are in store for 10 straight days of glamour with this years edition with all of the films and stars that are confirmed to attend this this year. You might be a little surprised to see that this year the Toronto International Film Festival is also screening some episodes of a few television series under the primetime selection. The Girlfriend Experience Season 2 is one of five shows that are going to be screened at this years festival and I have to say I am excited to see what it will bring. The show was originally slated to be a limited series, but after a lot of buzz and a Best Actress nomination for Riley Keough at the Golden Globes earlier this year, it was picked up for another season. I checked the TIFF website for cast listings and Riley was nowhere to be seen so I don’t know if she will be seen on the red carpet in Venice. Carmen Ejogo is on the very limited cast list so I would bet that she will be making her way to Toronto for this premiere. Carmen is a rising fashion star and has worn some beautiful looks on the red carpet in the past and I am hoping the is on top form. I think that this light pink Rodarte Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which features a strapless gathered floral tulle bandeau style bodice and a tiered tulle skirt would be the perfect look for Carmen to wear. Since this is a premiere for a television show at a film festival I really don’t see a gown being appropriate and this look is exactly what I would expect to see at this type of TIFF premiere. I went for fun shoes with a pair of rose gold Sophia Webster laser cut sandals to perfectly compliment this dress. A smokey eye, romantic updo, and a glossy pink lip would finish this look perfectly. Everyone knows that I love to see Helen Mirren on the red carpet and I am really excited to see what she will wear for the gala presentation of The Leisure Seeker. This is another of the films that will be making its second stop on the promo tour at TIFF following the films premiere in Venice. I would love to see Helen step out on the red carpet in Toronto wearing this absolutely beautiful light blue Dolce & Gabbana hydrangea embellished cap-sleeve, mermaid gown. Helen loves herself some Dolce on the red carpet and when I was searching the virtual racks of Neiman Marcus I saw this gown and immediately thought of Helen, and I said that it would be the perfect gown for her to wear for TIFF. I actually made it a head to toe Dolce moment selecting a white Dolce & Gabbana hydrangea print clutch and a pair of navy Dolce & Gabbana ‘Belluci’ lace, crystal embellished pumps. Finishing this look with a chic loose curly hairstyle, lined eye, and a red lip would make it total perfection. Julianna Margulies loves herself a black dress on the red carpet and I would bet that at least one of her looks during TIFF will be black. I went to this beautiful Narciso Rodriguez Resort 2018 dress with a rise fall hem, full skirt, plunging neckline for Julianna to wear for the gala presentation of Three Christs at this years festival. The dress might be simple and void of embellishment, but I think that Julianna would look so incredibly chic and modern wearing this creation on a red carpet. I would elevate the look via the accessories a pair of Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle Follies’ quilted floral pumps, a pair of gold set ruby and diamond drop earrings, chic bun, smokey eye, and a red lip would all put this look together perfectly.Kate Mara has two films slated for gala presentations at TIFF this year and I am hoping my former girl crush will make me fall back in love with her. Kate has fallen into the Dior ambassador curse without actually having a contract or campaign. I am hoping that when she steps out for the premiere of Chappaquiddick that she will be on top form. I did decide to pick a Dior design with this black and gold embroidered Christian Dior Cruise 2018 dress, which has become a Dior signature under Maria Grazia Chiuri. This is one of the Cruise 2018 dresses that I really loved and I think that Kate would definitely make it something beautiful for a TIFF premiere. The dress is enough for me so I would keep styling simple with a chic updo, smokey eye, nude lip, and a pair of gold Jeffery Campbell ‘Obus’ sandals rounding it out. When I saw that Maggie Gyllenhaal television series The Deuce was added to the TIFF lineup under the primetime selection I got really excited. Maggie has so much potential to really make major red carpet moments happen on the red carpet. My wish for her to wear this Armani Prive Fall 2017 Couture velvet suit which features a rose embroidered blazer with a plunging neckline and a tulle peplum and a pencil skirt might be a little much for this kind of premiere, but I say it is the Toronto Film Festival so why not? I feel like this look is beautiful and I truly think that Maggie would do it crazy justice on the red carpet. I do think that the neckline would have to be modified for Maggie making it a little more modest. I really upped the glamour of this look adding a purple Edie Parker clutch, bouncy curls, red lip, smokey eye, diamond cluster earrings, a diamond cocktail ring, and a pair of black oil slick Casadei ‘Techno Blade’ pointed toe pumps to make it a perfect look for the Toronto International Film Festival red carpet.

The 2017 Toronto International Film Festival opens September 7, 2017 and runs through September 16, 2017.
