The Critics Choice Awards are coming up and I cannot wait to see what they will bring. I was excited by the Golden Globes and aside from one star in jammies and a couple of the guys in hoodies everyone put in the effort. I want to see that effort continue all through awards season. The outlook of the world is getting better and better every day and I want to see everyone who is nominated for and attend the Critics Choice Awards put forward maximum effort. In addition to her Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nomination for her role in Emily in Paris Ashley Park will also be a presenter at this years Critics Choice Awards. I hope that she will show up to the studio in person for her presenter duties before she heads back to a hotel room to Zoom into the show for her category. Though they might not even announce this category live. So I really want her to show up and give a BOLD glamour moment. I think that this red chiffon Zuhair Murad Spring 2021 RTW sleeveless gown which features intricate feather inspired beaded embroidery, a plunging neckline, an a-line skirt, and a thigh high split is exactly what I want to see Ashley bring to light on the red carpet. I don’t know much about her style, but I feel like since she is working with major power stylist Erin Walsh that anything is possible. I would love to see Ashley take this super glam gown and boost it up with old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, defined eyes, rose pink glossy lips, a red satin Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ crystal clasp clutch, a pair of red suede Stuart Weitzman ‘Ellsie 100’ strappy sandals, and a selection of Forevermark jewels including white diamond ‘Black Label’ chandelier earrings and a white diamond ‘Exceptional’ double halo set pear shaped cocktail ring. I had picked this powder blue one shoulder Tony Ward Spring 2021 RTW draped jumpsuit with a big bow detail and a train before I saw Gillian Anderson rock Dior Couture for the Golden Globes. I was impressed that I actually feel in loved with Gillian’s Dior moment, and that was a huge shock for me. After that moment this jumpsuit seems beneath her, but with their new PR guy I know that Tony Ward is looking to rebrand as a serious red carpet contender. I feel like it would be a super chic moment for Gillian and one that is out of her usual scope. It is chic and glamorous, but with a twist. This jumpsuit wouldn’t be right for a nominee to wear for most awards season red carpets, but the more laid back vibe of the Critics Choice would make this a great moment for Gillian. I would make it a major glamour moment with a loose updo, defined eyes, pink lips, silver Casadei crystal detailed slingback pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 white diamond heart detail drop earrings. Issa Rae knows how to deliver bold color moments and I would love to see her give another for the Critics Choice Awards where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her show Insecure. I found that color moment in this canary yellow silk faille Oscar de la Renta Resort 2021 sleeveless trumpet gown which features a plunging neckline, big bow detail on the back, and a sweeping train. I’ve loved this gown since the moment I first saw the lookbook and I believe that Issa would easily make it a MAJOR fashion moment for the Critics Choice Awards. A sleek chignon updo, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of gold Le Silla ‘Gwen 120’ mirrored effect ankle strap platform sandals, and a statement vintage white and yellow diamond pendant drop necklace would all make this look come together beautifully. As it is the middle of the night in London when the award shows go live it didn’t surprise me that Olivia Colman opted for more of a comfortable Armani Prive suit for the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. She’s never struck me as a big fashion girl and would much rather be comfortable than glamorous. While it will be a very similar situation this weekend for the Critics Choice Awards where Olivia is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for The Crown and Best Supporting Actress in a Movie for The Father I still turned to a gown. I thought this simple white crepe Jenny Packham Pre-Fall 2021 ‘Ursula’ column gown with an asymmetrically draped short cape and silver sheer crystal embellished sleeves would be a very chic moment for Olivia to wear for the Critics Choice Awards. Now in lockdown I think that Olivia will wear it with her signature short pixie, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of hotel slippers; but had there been an actual red carpet I would have added a white satin Tyler Ellis ‘Piper’ silver hardware detailed clutch, a pair of white leather Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and a bit of dazzling sparkle via vintage white diamond chandelier earrings from Jewellery Discovery. Riz Ahmed skipped out on the Golden Globes, and when you are in the same category as Chadwick Boseman you have to know that the likelihood that you are going to win is slim. That being said I missed seeing what look he would bring to the “red carpet.” I would love to see him Zoom into this weekends Critics Choice Awards wearing this black Givenchy Pre-Fall 2019 tuxedo with a silver zipper detailed “button down” shirt. It is classic with a very subtle edgy twist with that I think would be perfectly in line with Riz’s style. A sleek pair of black box leather Givenchy ‘Austin’ chelsea boots with metal tips and an Omega ‘Speedmaster Skywalker X-33’ watch would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.
The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.
Tonight is the night! I am really excited to see what everyone is going to bring. There was still a fantastic list of stars who are nominated, presenting, and performing tonight. So I decided to finish up my wishes with a round-up of everyone left. While I enjoy detailing out my thought process in picking my wishes there just wasn’t enough time to write about everyone. There are definitely some absolutely major fashion moments I want to see on this red carpet tonight out of these wishes. While I know we can expect to see Alison Brie, Armie Hammer, Christina Hendricks, and Justin Beiber tonight I don’t know who else we can expect to see that I’ve featured in this list. Well, I was SWAMPED with my actual job lately and I’ve been neglecting If I Was A Stylist as a result. That means that even though I had 14 posts planned for the 2020 Emmy Awards, which take place tonight, all I was able to do is this all in gallery for the nominees, presenters, and cast members of nominated projects. I am really interested to see how the Emmy’s will work from home with production kits sent to over 130 different locations. How will the fashion fare? We saw the fashion factor happen for the VMA’s and then Venice Film Festival actually happened in person and I was THRILLED. So in my wishes for this years event I’ve pulled looks hot off the runway this past week during NYFW, things shown seasons ago, as well as several looks I would love to see stars pull out of their archives and give another go. The red carpet at the BET Awards isn’t exactly known for it’s high fashion moments. When I Google Image search the event only two of the “top tier” fashion labels show up at the top with a Jean Paul Gaultier Couture dress on Ciara and a Prabal Gurung ensemble on Yara Shahidi, both from the 2019 event. I always hold out hope that someone will WOW me on this red carpet. I’m not saying it hasn’t been done before, but big fashion moments are far and few between. As I’ve said over the past couple of days my wishes for the 2020 BET Awards are picked not with the idea of the Zoom ceremony, but for what the red carpet might have looked like had an in-person actually happened. So definitely escape to what could have happened had COVID-19 not sent the event digital. Beyonce nabbed four BET Award nominations along with her daughter Blue Ivy’s first. Bey doesn’t do a whole lot of red carpets anymore. She opts instead to rock some glam in an at home photo shoot and then sneak into events through the side door. So I mean I would love to see her still do some major glam for the virtual BET Awards since it fits right in with her MO as of lately. I always love seeing Beyonce wearing Elie Saab designs on the red carpet and I definitely think she would have brought this champagne gold intricate sequin embroidered mermaid gown from the Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture collection which features a plunging neckline with a sheer yoke (that would have to be made to match Bey’s skin tone, long puffy poet sleeves, a leather belted waist, and a sweeping train to life with effortless ease. It isn’t an easy look to pull off, but I definitely believe that Beyonce would be able to push through this dress and own it. A sleek updo, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of gold Gianvito Rossi knot detailed ankle strap metallic leather sandals, and dazzling Lorraine Schwartz hand cut diamond cascading earrings would definitely have added the perfect finishing touches to this look. It might have been my subconscious remembering the orange Jean Paul Gaultier Couture dress that Ciara wore last year for the BET Awards, but I picked a very similar dress for her to wear had she walked the red carpet this year. The singer is nominated for one BET Award this year and is very pregnant, so I don’t even know if we would have seen Ciara at this years awards had there been no COVID-19 crisis. But had she shown up draping this lilac Zuhair Murad Fall 2020 RTW one sleeve asymmetrically draped mini dress over her baby bump I definitely think that it would have been a glamorous moment. I would have ditched the belt as I feel over the bump it would have been too constricting. I definitely think that Ciara would have given us sexy pregnancy glamour wearing this dress with the lookbooks matching lilac ankle strap sandals, a romantic curly updo, smokey eyes, soft nude lips, and glamorous Niwika ‘Amane’ cluster earrings set in 18k white gold with blue chalcedony, amethyst, aquamarine, tanzanite, and green tourmaline.I know that Issa Rae has the potential to really wow me. She has, but it has been a while. Had she been on the red carpet at the 2020 BET Awards I would have loved to see her rock this red carpet on top form. I love this goldenrod asymmetrically sequin draped Aliette Fall 2020 RTW pencil dress from her stylist Jason Rembert’s own fashion line. I believe that that Issa would definitely have brought this dress to life in a major moment. She knows how to handle bold color and dazzling glamour on the red carpet and I definitely think that this dress would have delivered just that. The styling with it a sleek braided bun updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of yellow gold Sergio Rossi mary-jane inspired peep toe slingback crystal buckle detailed sandals, and Norman Silverman emerald cut white diamond hoop earrings would definitely have put the look together perfectly. Marsai Martin is a little boss lady. She is not only just an actress but at 15 she is already producing movies. I feel like it’s sad that she only received a nomination for Best Young Star because she hustles her way through Hollywood with the best of the “grown-up” stars. I went for something DRAMATIC for her to wear on the red carpet had one taken place with this fuchsia Pamella Rolland Fall 2020 RTW feather-trimmed sequined tulle one shoulder gown which features a fitted one-shoulder bodice, an asymmetric A-line high low skirt, and a dramatic train. Everything from the color to the silhouette to the embellishments makes this a perfect look for Marsai. The dress itself is such a statement that I would just style it with simple waves pinned behind the ears, smokey eyes, light antique rose pink lips, and a pair of silver Alexandre Birman ‘Lacy’ crystal embellished 4 strap snakeskin sandals would definitely have made this another major fashion moment for Marsai to bring to life on the red carpet.
Check out Part 1 of my 2020 BET Awards wishes here, and Part 2 here. The virtual BET Awards will take place on Sunday June 28, 2020 at 8pm on BET, BET Her, & CBS.
Fantasy and fashion go hand and hand. High fashion has a sense of escapism built into it and I am really excited to see what the Met Gala red carpet this year will bring. But since we are now going to have to wait several months for this years gala. I am still going through with all of my wishes I would want to see on this years red carpet if the gala was to take place on the First Monday in May. Each of the five looks in this set of wishes to me speaks to this years theme of “About Time: Fashion & Duration” perfectly, but in a manner that also stays true to each of the designers whom I want to see them wearing. So that really makes me excited to see what this carpet will bring. I knew from the moment I saw this black draped silk organza Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2020 strapless cocktail dress that it would make for a PERFECT Met Gala gown. The design is definitely one of the new signatures under the leadership of Rushemy Botter & Lisi Herrebrugh, who have been at the helm of the brands for just over a year. I will say that while, like at any house, there was a bit of transition pains from one set of hands a the helm to another that the transition between hands at Nina Ricci over the last two decades has been pretty seamless. Now I don’t expect the brand to have a legion of guests with them if they take the Met Gala red carpet this year, but one strong look would definitely do the brand good. Enter Allison Williams. I feel like the former GIRLS actress is the perfect person to bring the label to life on this red carpet. I could see her wearing a customized floor length gown version of this cocktail dress. When I was thinking about styling this look I was really drawn to another new signature under the current leadership which are these bold oversized structured cloche’s and it made my mind start to wonder. Would they send the hat up the steps? Would Allison be bold enough to rock the hat on the red carpet? As these questions danced around in my head Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s popped into my head. Once that was in my mind I knew that I had to do it. Really what style has endured more than Audrey’s LBD’s in that film? So I decided to go full on with it adding the black Nina Ricci structured oversized cloche hat, a sleek bun updo underneath, defined eyes, soft blush pink lips, simple black Aquazzura ‘Purist’ sandals, a pair of white Clyde ‘Moonlight’ lambskin opera length gloves, an jewels from Mikimoto including simple white pearl and diamond stud earrings and a statement ‘Flower Lace’ akoya pearl and white diamond high jewelry necklace. It would definitely make for a superb modern classic statement on the red carpet. Danai Gurira knows how to make a major fashion moment happen on the red carpet. This is evidenced by her ability to effortless deliver an Iris Van Herpen creation on the red carpet. I have loved this white pleated gown with black piping from the Iris Van Herpen Fall 2019 Couture collection since it was first presented last July. This look is really the definition of classic glamour meets modernity and as I was picking looks I think are perfect for the Met Gala red carpet I knew that this gown just has to make it onto the Met Gala red carpet. It fits the theme perfectly. I would imagine that since Iris Van Herpen is featured in this years exhibition that at least one person will wear the label on the red carpet and Danai would definitely be the perfect person to deliver this look. A slick vintage inspired updo, smokey eyes, deep red glossy lips, a pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Jamila’ crystal bow embellished ankle strap sandals, and simple Ara Vartanian rubellite and white diamond drop earrings would definitely ensure this look is Met Gala ready. Proenza Schouler usually dresses one star on the red carpet at the Met Gala. I was looking at the brands latest collection for inspiration for a custom gown for this years red carpet when I found this grey-ish brown and grey-ish green velvet Proenza Schouler Fall 2020 RTW cut-out ring dress which features long sleeves, a slim fit, ruched design, and a metal neckline detail. This dress turned into a gown could be a really chic moment. I was trying to think of who could bring this gown to life on the red carpet so I started looking at who sat front row at the brands show during New York Fashion Week. When I saw that Issa Rae had a perch at the show it just made sense. Issa knows how deliver chic moments on the red carpet and I believe that she would definitely be able to bring this look to life on the red carpet. I would love to see Issa bring this ensemble together perfectly with a sleek braided bun updo, defined eyed, burgundy lips, a dark silver metallic leather Proenza Schouler ‘ps1’ mini crossbody (the brands signature style) used as a clutch, a pair of champagne silver Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Aurelia’ PVC strap crystal heel mule sandals, and chic Mateo NY 14k goldm enamel, and pearl cascade drop earrings.I LOVE me some Dries Van Noten and I am praying to see his designs on Met Gala red carpet. If I can trust a quick Google search it seems like Dries has only ever dressed Solange Knowles for the 2011 Met Gala. One of the biggest champion of Dries has been Maggie Gyllenhaal who has worn his designs for several events over the years including the Oscars and the Toronto Film Festival. I would love to see Maggie ask Dries to customize this black and teal brocade pencil dress which features voluminous sleeves into a floor length gown. The structure reminds me a bit of classic Cristobal Balenciaga which I think would make for a perfect gown for the Met Gala red carpet especially if styled with a fingerwave updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black satin Roger Vivier crystal buckle platform sandals, and vintage 18k gold and aquamarine Tiffany & Co. sunburst ear clips. The final wish today is for Scarlett Johansson. We saw Scarlett really get back to her best over the course of this awards season. She gave us the perfect old Hollywood glamour moment at the Oscars. Honestly that champagne silk and beaded fringe Oscar de la Renta gown would have been perfect for this years Met Gala red carpet. But instead I have opted to wish for ScarJo to bring a custom silver and black crystal beaded fashion moment to life on the red carpet inspired by the embellishments seen in the Miu Miu Fall 2020 RTW collection. I would love to see her wear an off the shoulder mermaid gown with a dramatic train, maybe some feathers could be added to the train as well to really turn this ensemble into a major classic glam old Hollywood moment for Scarlett to bring to life on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Finishing the custom look with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of silver Miu Miu metallic leather crystal embellished sandals, and dazzling vintage white diamond Cartier High Jewelry drop earrings would definitely make sure Scarlett exudes nothing but glamour.
Oscar night is always one of the most glamorous nights of the year. We can see upwards of 200+ looks on the red carpets of Oscar night. Despite the fact that last year I did not actually post a Best Dressed of the Year list an Oscar party look has never made the final cut for a BDOTY List. We have seen some superb moments on the red carpets at Oscar parties. I am specifically remembering Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a mint green Ralph & Russo Couture at the 2018 Vanity Fair Party. That look was in my final round of cuts for my 2018 Best Dressed of the Year list, though that was a really tough year to make the list. I hope that with some of the people who I am rumored to hear are making an Oscar night appearance will deliver some major moments as I was super underwhelmed with last year. In all of today’s wishes I am featuring some of the looks that are hot off the Paris Haute Couture runways, Pre-Fall 2020 looks I am dying to see on the red carpet, as well as looks from Spring 2020 RTW I don’t want to see lost to the archive, as well as couture archive moments I am still waiting to see on the red carpet. Honestly if just a 1/3 of these could come true then this could be one of the best Oscar nights ever.

Oscar Night 2020 is Sunday February 9, 2020.
Tomorrow in LA the Women In Film will gather to fete this years awards honorees. This red carpet is always one that is chic and elegant as it is sponsored by Max Mara and the honorees, and celebrity guests, usually don the brands chic style moments on the red carpet. So when I was picking looks for this years honorees to wear on the red carpet I went right to the Milan based fashion house to pick three chic looks for this years a-list honorees to bring to life on the red carpet tomorrow. Amy Poehler is going to be honored with The Women In Film Entrepreneur in Entertainment Award and I have to say I hope she turns it out. We are so used to seeing rather boring looks from Amy on the red carpet and she definitely will have simple black Max Mara suits as options given to her, but I definitely would love to see her take a little risk. I was looking at Max Mara looks that I have saved and when I saw this black Max Mara Spring 2019 RTW ensemble which consists of a ‘Virgus’ glossy jersey blouse that features one sleeve and a half-collar detail at the neckline and a pair of ‘Capsula’ wool trousers that feature a high waistline with subtle front pleats, a cropped length, and ruffles down the side of each leg I thought what an amazing moment it would be for Amy to wear on this red carpet. It is definitely just outside of her more traditionalist wheelhouse, but I think that it has the potential to be really great. The clothes themselves are such a statement that I would keep the styling super simple with a sleek low bun, defined eyes, nude pink glossy lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pointed toe leather pumps, and vintage mid-century diamond swirl earrings from Beladora to make this look perfect for Amy. Elizabeth Debicki continues to be a rising stars. Last year the young talent was honored with the Chopard Trophy at the Cannes Film Festival as a rising star with enormous potential and this year Women In Film will be honoring her with Max Mara Face of the Future Award. I have long thought Elizabeth has the potential to be amongst the ranks of Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Jessica Chastain, and Diane Kruger. I just think she needs a new stylist. Maybe Petra Flannery, Samantha McMillen, Michaela Erlanger, Julia Von Bohem, or Elizabeth Stewart. I think those women would know how to dress Elizabeth to serve major moment after major moment for every red carpet appearance she makes. The Women in Film Awards isn’t the most exciting red carpet of the year, but I still want to see glamour from Elizabeth on this red carpet. I decided to go for that simplistic glamour for her opting for this blush Max Mara Pre-Fall 2019 sleeveless column gown which features a chiffon cape. The simple gown is definitely elevated via that cape, but I would leave the runways belt at home. Finishing the look with a sleek braided updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a cotton candy pink glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Tatiana’ crystal broach detailed clutch, a pair of simple blush pink suede Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas’ crystal trimmed sandals, and dazzling Cartier morganite, opal, pink sapphire, and diamond drop earrings would definitely make this look perfect for this red carpet, while being just extra enough. Women In Film will be honoring Issa Rae with the Emerging Entrepreneur Award which is only fitting since she made it huge thanks to Insecure, which she not only stars in but also produces, she has just been cashing major checks and turning her checks into new projects. For tomorrow nights red carpet I had originally shunned Max Mara for Issa instead opting for a colorful Mary Katrantzou ensemble because the looks from Spring, Pre-Fall, and Fall all seemed to be very similar. I had forgotten the brand just showed its Resort 2020 collection in Berlin recently until I saw it on a Moda Operandi trunkshow. I saw this sand colored origami draped column gown which features a silver metal necklace/halter, belted waist, and a center split. Now it isn’t the typical colorful look we are used to seeing from Issa, but I think that she has the perfect elegance to make this gown come to life on the red carpet. A chic bun of braids, smokey eyes, nude lips, an anthracite grey Jimmy Choo ‘J Box’ glittered clutch, a pair of statement anthracite grey Jimmy Choo ‘Karima’ rock crystal embellished sandals, and Anita Ko diamonds including a pair of garland wreath earrings and a selection of different rings would definitely make this an absolutely chic moment.
The 2019 Women in Film Awards Gala will take place tomorrow Wednesday June 12, 2019.
I am super far behind on my wishes for tomorrow nights Critics Choice Awards. So with that being said I don’t want to rehash the same ideas that I have written in the headers for the last eight posts and just get right into my wishes. Elizabeth Debicki is part of the cast of nominated ensemble cast of Widows and I am actually quite interested in seeing what she would wear on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards. I don’t know if we will actually see her on the red carpet though. I’m not exactly sure that Widows will win this award and it is the only category that the cast is nominated in. If she does I would love to see her bring this visual gem printed Givenchy Spring 2019 RTW cap sleeve pleated gown which features a crew neck, loose fit, and a crystal cap sleeve cape to life. It is more of a visual gown than we are used to seeing from Elizabeth, but I definitely think that it is such a major moment that I believe that Elizabeth with her statuesque elegance would be able to carry this gown off with ease. A chic coif, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Saint Laurent ‘Hall’ crystal embellished platform sandals all would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Emma Stone is a face of Louis Vuitton and of the looks that she wore during Golden Globes week were predominately from the French heritage house. More often than not Emma doesn’t step out from that Louis Vuitton box that she signed herself into, but when she does it is often wearing Givenchy. I would think that since most LV ambassadors who have made an Oscar run have stepped onto the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards not wearing the brand that this would be one the perfect opportunities to see Emma do that too. I looked at all kinds of current Claire Waight Keller designed looks from recent Givenchy collections but to be honest nothing was clicking for me. I decided to drop into 1stDibs.com and see if there was anything major in the vintage department from Givenchy that I thought would be perfect for the Critics Choice Awards. Enter this peach orange 1960’s Givenchy Haute Couture silk asymmetrically draped one shoulder tea length gown. I saw this gown and it was love at first sight. I pictured this pinky orange color against Emma’s pale pink complexion with her flame red hair and I was instantaneously sold on the idea. Part of me feels like this gown is too good for someone who has sold their soul to Louis Vuitton, but I just couldn’t shake the idea from my mind. It would be one of my favorite Emma Stone red carpet moments ever, especially if she pairs the gown with a sleek updo, smokey orange eyes, a gold Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Malle’ clutch, strappy gold Christian Louboutin ‘Maratena’ metallic and PVC sandals, and a pair of mandarin garnet, ruby, and diamond IVY New York ear clips. I feel like it has been a hot minute since we have seen Issa Rae on the red carpet. She has been someone I have loved seeing on the red carpet since she first burst onto the scene about two years ago and I would love to see her on the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night. I decided that while I usually go for bold color and pattern moments that I wanted to see Issa deliver this white C.D. Greene halter gown which features a scoop neckline, fitted silhouette, and gold mirror embellishments. I love the sleek and modern take on take on glamour that this gown delivers and I really do believe that Issa easily sell this look to me with a high braided bun, smokey eyes, dark red lips, a pair of gold Giuseppe Zanotti x Christian Cowan ‘Watch’ ankle wrap heelless wedges, and 18k yellow gold and diamond pave Marco Bicego ‘Siviglia’ drop earrings. I always get excited when I see that Maggie Gyllenhaal is nominated for an award because I love her style. She is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in The Deuce and I want to see her bring this grey Atelier Versace Fall 2018 Couture ‘Giuditta’ halter gown which features an gold beaded neckline, a mermaid silhouette, and intricate cutouts and embellishments all over to life on the red carpet tomorrow night. Maggie has never had a major Versace moment on the red carpet. The brand’s uber sex appeal doesn’t usually vibe with Maggie’s more bohemian style, but I feel like this dress is perfect for her. It has a bit of that bohemian vibe, but does it in a structured and glamorous manner that I just think that Maggie would absolutely deliver this gown on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet. A sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of gold Aquazzura ‘Oscar’ metallic leather sandals, and a selection of vintage Van Cleef & Arpels jewels including small gold and diamond chandelier earrings and a gold and jade cocktail ring would all add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Regina King is still my favorite to take home an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category at the Oscars and I have a feeling tomorrow nights Critics Choice Awards will just be another stop on the road to that little gold man. I have been LOVING what Regina has been selling to us on the red carpet as of late and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the Critics Choice Awards. I have been waiting for the right red carpet to make the wish of seeing Regina wearing this red Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2019 tailored crepe gown which features an off-the-shoulder silhouette, a full length skirt, its fluid shape is detailed with a high slit along the skirt ,and knotted ruched detailing along the waist and it was easy for me to pick it for the Critics Choice Awards. This is one of the more laid back red carpets of awards season and I think that this gown has just enough glamour to be perfect for a winner to deliver on the red carpet. Add a romantic bob, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red Giuseppe Zanotti ankle wrap patent leather platform sandals, and Adler ‘Red Sunset‘ ruby and diamond asymmetrical earrings and this a truly swoon worthy moment.
The 2019 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday January 13, 2019.
The London Film Festival premiere of The Hate U Give will most likely be more of a solemn event since the films screenwriter Audrey Wells died on Thursday after a long battle with cancer. The film did release in the United States on Friday so I wonder what the films screening in London will be like. The film is screening out of competition as a special screening at this years festival. That most likely means that this will be one of the more casual screening of the festival, but the cast can definitely believe in my life motto of #WhenInDoubtBeExtra so who really knows what we will see. Amandla Stenberg definitely likes to make a statement on the red carpet so when I was looking for the perfect look for her to rock for the London Film Festival premiere of The Hate U Give I knew I wanted something bold and dramatic. I feel like we definitely see a lot of British designers on the red carpet at the London Film Festival and not many to bold and dramatic prints better than British designer Mary Katrantzou. So I turned to the designers recently presented Spring 2019 RTW collection and this bold Polaroid print trapeze midi gown which features a brown leather harness halter neckline for the perfect gown for Amandla to rock on this red carpet. This is definitely a gown that not many would be able to rock without it overwhelming them, but I think that Amandla has the edge and ease to really make this look come off with that sense of effortlessness that it needs to really work on the red carpet. I think that pulled back tight curls, a burgundy smokey eye, and black and bronze Saint Laurent ‘Talitha’ sandals all would ensure that the gown is the focus of this look and that the gown is perfectly complimented. Issa Rae is always one that excites me on the red carpet she loves bold color, print, and textures. It usually makes for some really eye catching moments on the red carpet. I went with the texture idea for the London Film Festival premiere of The Hate U Give with this neutral Oscar de la Renta Spring 2019 RTW strapless gown which features a fitted, feather-embellished bodice, a fluid skirt, and long slide slit. I saw this dramatic feathered gown come down the runway and it definitely made me think of Issa. It needs someone incredibly confident to really make it come to life on a red carpet and I think that Issa definitely that that confidence and presence. I would style this gown with a glamorous sleek twisted updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a gold Inge Christopher crystal embellished box clutch, a pair of gold Aquazzura mirrored strappy sandals, and absolutely stunning Fred Leighton citrine and diamond chandelier earrings to really ensure that this moment is absolute perfection from head to toe.
The 2018 London Film Festival will open on Wednesday October 10, 2018 and will run through Sunday October 21, 2018.
I fell really far behind with my Emmy’s wishes because I was prepping and then dealing with Hurricane Florence. I live just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina so we have been inundated with rain and the power at my house has gone out several times. I am safe but just have had other things that I have had to do instead of focus on my wish lists. I had so many still to go, including for stars who I am expecting to take home trophies tomorrow night, so I decided to throw them all into a gallery so you can see the looks I want to see on the red carpet at the most glamorous night in television.
The 2018 Emmy Awards will take place on Monday September 17, 2018.
