2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

Check out all these looks I would have loved to see on a red carpet at a regular Critics Choice Awards. The wishes below are a mix of nominees, presenters, and members of productions that are nominated. I am missing all the glamour and drama of awards season, but I am hoping that there are going to be some major fashion moments tonight.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

The Critics Choice Awards are coming up and I cannot wait to see what they will bring. I was excited by the Golden Globes and aside from one star in jammies and a couple of the guys in hoodies everyone put in the effort. I want to see that effort continue all through awards season. The outlook of the world is getting better and better every day and I want to see everyone who is nominated for and attend the Critics Choice Awards put forward maximum effort. In addition to her Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nomination for her role in Emily in Paris Ashley Park will also be a presenter at this years Critics Choice Awards. I hope that she will show up to the studio in person for her presenter duties before she heads back to a hotel room to Zoom into the show for her category. Though they might not even announce this category live. So I really want her to show up and give a BOLD glamour moment. I think that this red chiffon Zuhair Murad Spring 2021 RTW sleeveless gown which features intricate feather inspired beaded embroidery, a plunging neckline, an a-line skirt, and a thigh high split is exactly what I want to see Ashley bring to light on the red carpet. I don’t know much about her style, but I feel like since she is working with major power stylist Erin Walsh that anything is possible. I would love to see Ashley take this super glam gown and boost it up with old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, defined eyes, rose pink glossy lips, a red satin Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ crystal clasp clutch, a pair of red suede Stuart Weitzman ‘Ellsie 100’ strappy sandals, and a selection of Forevermark jewels including white diamond ‘Black Label’ chandelier earrings and a white diamond ‘Exceptional’ double halo set pear shaped cocktail ring. I had picked this powder blue one shoulder Tony Ward Spring 2021 RTW draped jumpsuit with a big bow detail and a train before I saw Gillian Anderson rock Dior Couture for the Golden Globes. I was impressed that I actually feel in loved with Gillian’s Dior moment, and that was a huge shock for me. After that moment this jumpsuit seems beneath her, but with their new PR guy I know that Tony Ward is looking to rebrand as a serious red carpet contender. I feel like it would be a super chic moment for Gillian and one that is out of her usual scope. It is chic and glamorous, but with a twist. This jumpsuit wouldn’t be right for a nominee to wear for most awards season red carpets, but the more laid back vibe of the Critics Choice would make this a great moment for Gillian. I would make it a major glamour moment with a loose updo, defined eyes, pink lips, silver Casadei crystal detailed slingback pointed toe pumps, and a pair of dazzling Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 white diamond heart detail drop earrings. Issa Rae knows how to deliver bold color moments and I would love to see her give another for the Critics Choice Awards where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her show Insecure. I found that color moment in this canary yellow silk faille Oscar de la Renta Resort 2021 sleeveless trumpet gown which features a plunging neckline, big bow detail on the back, and a sweeping train. I’ve loved this gown since the moment I first saw the lookbook and I believe that Issa would easily make it a MAJOR fashion moment for the Critics Choice Awards. A sleek chignon updo, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of gold Le Silla ‘Gwen 120’ mirrored effect ankle strap platform sandals, and a statement vintage white and yellow diamond pendant drop necklace would all make this look come together beautifully. As it is the middle of the night in London when the award shows go live it didn’t surprise me that Olivia Colman opted for more of a comfortable Armani Prive suit for the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. She’s never struck me as a big fashion girl and would much rather be comfortable than glamorous. While it will be a very similar situation this weekend for the Critics Choice Awards where Olivia is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for The Crown and Best Supporting Actress in a Movie for The Father I still turned to a gown. I thought this simple white crepe Jenny Packham Pre-Fall 2021 ‘Ursula’ column gown with an asymmetrically draped short cape and silver sheer crystal embellished sleeves would be a very chic moment for Olivia to wear for the Critics Choice Awards. Now in lockdown I think that Olivia will wear it with her signature short pixie, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of hotel slippers; but had there been an actual red carpet I would have added a white satin Tyler Ellis ‘Piper’ silver hardware detailed clutch, a pair of white leather Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and a bit of dazzling sparkle via vintage white diamond chandelier earrings from Jewellery Discovery. Riz Ahmed skipped out on the Golden Globes, and when you are in the same category as Chadwick Boseman you have to know that the likelihood that you are going to win is slim. That being said I missed seeing what look he would bring to the “red carpet.” I would love to see him Zoom into this weekends Critics Choice Awards wearing this black Givenchy Pre-Fall 2019 tuxedo with a silver zipper detailed “button down” shirt. It is classic with a very subtle edgy twist with that I think would be perfectly in line with Riz’s style. A sleek pair of black box leather Givenchy ‘Austin’ chelsea boots with metal tips and an Omega ‘Speedmaster Skywalker X-33’ watch would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Well. We are finally coming up to the kick off of awards season 2021. By this time last year we had already been through the entire awards season. Due to COVID-19 all of the award shows pushed back their dates and extended their eligibility window and have just started announcing nominees. The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28th, which was the original date for the 2021 Academy Awards. This years ceremony will be hosted once again by comedy duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, but it’s going to look a little bit different than years past. As this years event is “distanced” we are going to see Amy & Tina hosting this years show from two sides of the country. Amy will be broadcasting from the ballroom inside the Globes usual event space at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, while Tina will be broadcasting from the Rainbow Room in New York City. I want to see the hostesses giving us glamour all night long with a couple of wardrobe changes. Today’s wishes are focusing specifically what I want to see Amy Poehler wear while hosting this years Golden Globe Awards. Originally I was going to go with looks from the same designer. In her three back to back years hosting the Globes with Tina Fey from 2013-2015 Amy hosted wearing all Stella McCartney looks. So will she return the the label for her looks this year? Well the odds would be yes, but I have 4 major looks from 4 different designers. First up is what would be my “red carpet” look. Since it seems as though we won’t have an actual red carpet this year I don’t know if we will see Amy go for something this dramatic, but I would love to see her wearing this electric blue to black Georges Hobeika Fall 2019 Couture gown which features a halter neck, cape sleeves, defined waist, and feather detailing. I don’t know why I kept seeing Amy every time I saw this dress as I was trying to decide how I was going to do these wishes, but I did. It is out of her comfort zone, but I really love the idea of her giving us bold color and drama instead of her usual simplistic looks. A sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, red lips, black patent leather Jimmy Choo ‘Nova’ peep toe slingback pumps, and a pair of Kwiat ‘Ashoka’ white diamond drop earrings with sapphire halos would make it a super chic and glamours moment. Now as a host I would like to see Amy rock a couple of looks. You are going to see that for some reason I was on a cape kick when it came to looks I wanted to see Amy wear for the Globes. Following that major Chakra for the “red carpet” I would love to see Amy give us classic glamour wearing this black Lela Rose Fall 2021 RTW a-line gown with a white cape. It is a super glam moment and I definitely feel like it would be in line with Amy’s sense of style. While I do advocate for her pushing her boundaries I also believe that not every look needs to be innovative. I would keep the same beauty glam from the red carpet look styling this gown with a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Emsy 85’ strappy peep toe sandals, and platinum set Kwiat ‘Legacy Embrace’ white diamond pear shaped drop earrings to really make this an uber chic moment for Amy.

The next look I want to see Amy wear for her hosting gig is this Jenny Packham Spring 2021 jumpsuit with black sequin and bold beaded embellishments. We’ve seen Amy opt for cocktail looks and suits for hosting the Globes in the past so I wouldn’t put it past her to rock a jumpsuit like this for the show this year. I love a chic Jenny Packham moment and I would love to see Amy bring this look out of the pages of the lookbook and to life on the red carpet. A loose updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Esther 85’ pointed toe d’Orsay pumps, and dazzling 18k yellow gold set Kwiat ‘Cobblestone’ white diamond pave drop earrings would definitely make this another chic moment for Amy to rock on the Globes stage.

My last pick for Amy is my most ostentatious. I can’t really recall many instances of Amy wearing heavily embellished moments, but I was drawn to this black, grey, and gold Pamella Roland Pre-Fall 2021 sunburst sequin and feather embellished tulle cape sleeved caftan style gown for her. It is a really beautiful and dramatic moment. So while the other looks still stick to Amy’s usual style I think that this would definitely end the night on a dazzling note, especially if styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, nude pink lips, a pair of nude Jimmy Choo ‘Love 100’ embroidered lace pointed toe pumps, and simple white diamond Kwiat ‘Sunburst’ stud earrings with a double halo.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021.

2020 American Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

I am thrilled that we are going to have a major red carpet at the American Music Awards this weekend. I am really interested in seeing what the red carpet will look like. With COVID-19 we know that it will not be business as usual, but with the list of performers alone I am thrilled to see what this red carpet will end up looking like. I really want to see some major fashion moments from everyone we see step out. We’ve seen Doja Cat give us major fashion moments on every red carpet this fall. I went through all kinds of looks trying to pick the perfect look for Doja to rock on the AMA’s red carpet. She is nominated for 4 awards and will be performing so I knew I wanted to bring something major. Enter this black and bronze silk Maison Margiela Spring 2020 Couture slip style velvet devore spotted gown which features thin straps, a plunging open back, and a short train. I have been in love with this gown since it was first presented back in January and while I’ve mentally had it on reserves for Zoe Kravitz I feel like Doja would be able to serve it up as the moment I know it can be. I would go for a really 90’s inspired moment styling this look with sleek long center parted black hair, defined eyes, dark bronze-y red lips, a pair of strappy black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Vanilla Punk’ knee high stiletto sandals, and a bit of sparkle via Kallati ‘Eternal’ white and yellow diamond drop earrings. I would definitely LOVE this moment. I’m going to try my best to not dive into a rant about Miranda Lambert like I did yesterday with Maren Morris, but my feelings are pretty much the same. I can’t really stand Miranda’s style. She has never wowed me and I don’t expect her to do it now. I would be shocked if she showed up on this red carpet wearing this burgundy to red ombre sequin Jenny Packham strapless gown which features a structured bodice, sweetheart neckline, and a column silhouette. I went off the rack to make it a little more of a possibility, but I still don’t expect it to happen. A loose romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a burgundy mirrored Jimmy Choo ‘Sweetie’ envelope clutch, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Liu 100’ mesh-paneled sandals, and a selection of major IVY New York jewels including statement rubellite and diamond pendant drop earrings and a red spinel and diamond cocktail ring would definitely put this look together perfectly giving us the major fashion moment I know we shouldn’t expect to see from Miranda. I’ve never featured Paris Hilton in a wish list before, but there’s a first for everything right? She will be one of the presenters at the AMA’s on Sunday and I am interested in seeing what she will wear. I want Paris to give us sexy glamour wearing this black sequin asymmetrical beaded stripe Jean Fares sleeveless column gown which features a plunging neckline and a thigh high split. It is a little more covered than we are used to seeing from Paris, but I feel like when Paris goes for glamour that is when she gives her best looks. This gown is very classic in it’s style and isn’t a boundary pushing style in the least, but I would love to see Paris bring the look to life. A sleek retro inspired updo, thick defined smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black and silver Christian Louboutin ‘Double L Pump’ pointed toe crystal embellished strappy mesh pumps, and a statement white diamond Harry Kotlar cushion cut pendant drop necklace would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Paris. Roddy Rich has 8 nominations at this weekends AMA’s and I have to say that since he isn’t a performer this year that he won’t be taking any awards home. I haven’t followed him to be honest, but I feel like he would give good fashion on the red carpet. For a cool look I went to a Louis Vuitton Spring 2021 Menswear ensemble which features an abstract black and white check print hooded trucker jacket pair with black trousers and black sneakers with a green sole for Roddy. I can definitely see it being a great music award show red carpet. I would ditch the runways hat and bag maybe adding some thick framed black sunglasses to make this a really cool menswear moment. Hot on the heels of the announcement that he will be headlining that Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show we are going to see The Weeknd performing at this years AMA’s. He tied Roddy for most nominations with 8 and I am expecting him to bring several home. When it comes to style Abel doesn’t push many boundaries. I loved the red suit he wore for the VMA’s earlier this year. For the AMA’s which I imagine he will sneak in the side door for I would love to see The Weeknd wearing this deep purple Rynshu Spring 2021 RTW slim fit tuxedo with contrasting black satin peak lapels and an iridescent silver strap on the two button blazer. I think this is a super classic look with a bit of a twist which is exactly what I want to see from The Weeknd. I would finish the look with a pair of black calfskin leather Christian Louboutin ‘Samson Flat’ ankle boots and black and grey Gucci square aviator sunglasses.

The 2020 American Music Awards will take place on Sunday November 22, 2020. Check out all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2020 RTW RED CARPET WISH LIST PART 2

Paris Fashion Week, much like New York Fashion Week, produced a plethora of options for stars to deliver stellar red carpet moments. But given the current state of our world right now the only thing we can do is fantasize about what could be. I am hoping that as the curve of this virus stars to decline and we start to see events being rescheduled that many of these wishes will come true. Some of my favorite collections of the season are featured in this set of wishes. I think that is evidenced well by just how many looks from some of the shows I have made wishes for. I am praying for glamour and drama coming forward. Which of the looks below to you most want to see brought to life on the red carpet?

“Game of Thrones” Season 8 NYC Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

One of the most anticipated red carpets of next month is the NYC premiere of the final season of Game of Thrones. I love to see this cast on the red carpet and it is definitely a little bittersweet to say goodbye to this show (even though I never got into watching it) since it means that this cast won’t all be on the red carpets anymore. I always feel this way when shows end. I think about the casts of Mad Men, Glee, Sex and the City, Downton Abby, and Girls and how much I miss them on the red carpet. So I know that I will definitely miss the Game of Thrones ladies. So I am definitely going to savor this premiere red carpet. I am really excited to see what Emilia Clarke will rock on the red carpet at this premiere. She has rocked Victoria Beckham, Erdem, Alexander McQueen, and Donna Karan for the premieres of different seasons of Game of Thrones. All the looks are relatively simple, but for the final season premiere I have decided to go big or go home for everyone, and Emilia definitely has the biggest dress with this electric blue Emilia Wickstead Fall 2019 RTW ‘Evangeline’ strapless dress cut from a textured cloque and features a fitted bodice with a high-waistline that detonates into a full box pleated skirt. Aside from her Donna Karan moment the British actress has worn British designers for Game of Thrones premieres, so I decided to keep with that theme giving her this really chic and glamorous moment. Pair it with a sleek side parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of matching electric blue Christian Louboutin ‘Anjalina’ spike studded suede pointed toe pumps, and statement David Morris black opal, sapphire, paraiba tourmaline, and diamond drop earrings and I know this would be a MAJOR glamour moment. I adore Gwendoline Christie and I always want to see major fashion moments from her. I definitely think that she could give Emilia a run for her money rocking a major moment on the red carpet at this premiere. It has almost like she has been an un-official Miu Miu ambassador as of late, and I definitely think that she could rock a major custom look from either Miu Miu or Prada on this red carpet. But with that in mind when I saw this silver beaded fringe Balenciaga Fall 2019 RTW cap sleeve gown I fell in LOVE with the idea of Gwendoline wearing it on the red carpet. There aren’t many I think have the presence to really make a gown like this work on the red carpet. It was model by an Amazonian tall model and I definitely think that Gwendoline (who is also Amazonian tall) has the chops to really make this look come to life with effortless elegance. A vintage inspired bob, smokey winged eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of silver glitter Balenciaga ‘Knife’ pointed toe kitten heel sling back sandals all would ensure that this look is all about that gown for Gwendoline! I am dying to see this wish come to life. Lena Headey is known for her very effortless style and is one of the cast members I have a hard time picking a look for typically, but not this time. I knew I wanted to keep that vibe for this red carpet, but do it in a really glamorous way. I didn’t need to even look for the perfect gown for Lena I knew without searching that I wanted to see her wearing this ruby red Jenny Packham Pre-Fall 2019 ‘Ida’ cold shoulder wrap style gown which features an all over sequin loose fitting long sleeve gown complete with a deep V-neckline. It is that perfect meshing of effortlessness and glamour and I definitely think it is perfect for Lena especially if she rocked it with easy waves, defined eyes, nude lips, simple red Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals, and amazingly chic Jacob & Co. ‘Celeste’ rose gold set diamond and ruby drop earrings. Maisie Williams is honestly one of the hardest people in this cast to pick looks for. She never really got embraced by big brands and her quirky style is hard to pick looks for. I decided to go for something quirky and feminine to match her rose pink hair with this barbie pink Ronald Van Der Kemp strapless high low satin gown. I honestly don’t think that this is one of the best gowns that Ronald has ever created, but I definitely think that it is something that Maisie would be drawn to. Add a pair of statement pink and red Malone Souliers ‘Filipa’ bungee rope braided sandals, a sleek hairstyle tucked behind her ears, simple defined eyes, soft pink lips, and incredibly chic Holly Dyment emerald, white diamonds, citrine, blue sapphire, pink sapphire, and tsavorite drop earrings to really make sure that Maisie does have a statement making moment on this red carpet. Rounding out the list is Louis Vuitton spokesmodel Sophie Turner. It is very rare that we see Sophie wearing anything other than Louis Vuitton on the red carpet. I thought for a split second about picking a look from another label for Sophie to wear for this premiere, but the chances of that happening I would say are slim to none. Now Nicolas Ghesquière did just release his latest collection for Louis Vuitton a few weeks ago and so I am not done with the looks yet. I actually really loved this black Louis Vuitton Fall 2019 RTW bustier cocktail dress which features thing straps, a plunging neckline, paillette embellishments, a belted waist, and an a-line skirt when I saw it on the red carpet and I definitely think that Sophie would be able to rock it on this red carpet. While I decided for gowns for pretty much everyone else since this is a major designer that the cocktail moment is perfect for Sophie to rock on this red carpet. A sleek high ponytail, defined smokey eyes, nude glossy lips, a black Louis Vuitton ‘Capucines Mini’ crystal embellished top handle bag, a pair of chic black Louis Vuitton ‘Overnight Cross’ crystal embellished chain strap sandals, and asymmetric Messika High Jewelry ‘Ritzy’ diamond drop earrings all would definitely make this an absolutely MAJOR fashion moment for Sophie to bring to life on this red carpet.

The NYC premiere of the 8th & final season of Game of Thrones will take place on Wednesday April 3, 2019.

2019 Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Awards season is just about here. It gets it’s unofficial kickoff with the 2019 Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala Thursday January 3, 2019. While this red carpet isn’t one of the biggest during awards season the honorees usually bring their A-game to the red carpet. The last two years this red carpet has produced Best Dressed of the Year worthy moments, from Saoirse Ronan and Ruth Negga, and for the past three a look from this red carpet has made my Best Dressed of January list. So the expectations for this red carpet are definitely on the higher side. Glenn Close is headed to take home the Icon Award at this years PS Film Festival Black Tie Awards gala. She is one, of many, front runners and ones to watch during awards season this year and I am definitely interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpet. Her last awards season run, in 2012 for her film Albert Nobbs, was almost exclusively in Zac Posen. While she does look amazing in Zac’s designs I decided to go with a little more wide ranging selection of designers for her to deliver on the red carpets over the course of the next years awards shows. Kicking off that run I went with simple glamour with this black Alberta Ferretti draped cape gown which features a column skirt. It is a simple gown that I definitely think would be something that Glenn would be drawn to, especially for a red carpet like this. A chic pixie hairstyle, defined eyes, dusty rose pink lips, a black satin Judith Leiber ‘Quinn’ clutch, a pair of black Manolo Blahnik ‘Nadira’ jeweled pumps, and Van Cleef & Arpels diamond cluster earrings would all make this an incredibly chic moment for this red carpet. We have another front runner in the Best Actress category this awards season who will be honored at the 2019 Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala. Melissa McCarthy will be awarded with the Spotlight Award for her performance in the film Can You Ever Forgive Me? I am really interested in seeing what Melissa will bring to the red carpet. Fashion designers have been expanding their willingness to create gowns for women with curves and with a real chance in the Oscar race I think we might see some great labels dress Melissa over the course of awards season. I decided to kick off her run with this highland green Jenny Packham Resort 2019 ‘Tana’ gown which features a twisted bodice with a starburst sequin embellished design and medium length dolman sleeves. I always love a chic Jenny Packham moment on the red carpet and I definitely think that this style would be perfect for Melissa especially when paired with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a dark green Judith Leiber Couture ‘Siam Slim Slide’ clutch, black Jimmy Choo ‘Annie’ sandals, and a pair of vintage diamond and emerald drop earrings from Beladora.Regina King is the horse with the most head in the race currently for the Best Supporting Actress category. For the first red carpet of the year and the kickoff to the awards season I decided I wanted to make sure that this years Chairman Award recipient would kick off her style run in high style and that is exactly what she would do wearing this light lemonade yellow Jason Wu Spring 2019 RTW one shoulder gown which features an asymmetric strap, gathered bodice and layered tulle skirt. It has been a while since I have really loved a Jason Wu moment on the red carpet and I definitely think that this gown on Regina would be the perfect moment to make me rediscover my love for the brand again. Regina isn’t exactly the most boundary pushing dresser and I really do believe that with a major awards season ahead of her that she will be on top of her style game. Pairing this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a gold Judith Leiber ‘Soho’ snakeskin box clutch, a pair of gold Rene Caovilla crystal studded metallic snakeskin ankle wrap sandals, and dazzling white and yellow diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection pendant drop earrings would definitely ensure that Regina delivers a major best dressed worthy moment on this red carpet. Finishing out this list is the always exciting Timothee Chalamet who took home the Rising Star Award at last years Palm Springs Film Festival Awards, and is being honored this year with a Spotlight Award for his performance in Beautiful Boy. He delivers major menswear moments, which is obvious since he made four appearances on my Best Dressed Men of 2018 list. I want to see Timmy continue to bring boundary pushing menswear to the red carpet over the course of this coming awards season. He loves Louis Vuitton, Haider Ackermann, and Alexander McQueen but I decided that Timothee would be the perfect guy to give Celine menswear by Heidi Slimane its first red carpet moment. I may not think that Heidi’s Celine is anything that actually correlates to the history of the brand, but I won’t deny that he knows how to create really great clothes. I would love to see Timmy rock this Celine Spring 2019 RTW tuxedo which features a black tuxedo jacket with silver crystal arrow embellishments and a solid lapel and skinny black pants. The suit was paired with a black button down and a solid white skinny tie. I would probably ditch the tie for Timothee adding a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Alpha Male P’ strass embellished cap toe derbies to really make this a very chic, and sparkly, menswear moment.

The 2019 Palm Springs Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala will take place on Thursday January 3, 2019.

2018 New York Film Festival: “The Favourite” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The Favourite is an awards season favorite and I am really excited to see what more will come from the festival tour that the film has been taking. I opened with an amazing gala premiere at the Venice Film Festival, and won Olivia Coleman the Best Actress trophy at the festival as well, and now is slated to open the 2018 New York Film Festival. Usually premieres at the New York Film Festival are a little more mixed. It isn’t the couture fest that we see at Venice and TIFF is even more of a mix. Chic gowns and cocktail moments dominate the NYFF red carpets typically. We typically see Jason Wu, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, and Valentino on the red carpets at this festival and typically they are short. The last time Emma Stone was at the New York Film Festival was when she premiered Birdman at the festivals closing night. Now she will be opening the festival with her next Oscar contender The Favourite. Since her Louis Vuitton campaign was announced she has basically exclusively worn LV on the red carpet, and to be honest despite all of the custom gowns I have designed and all the runway looks I have saved there wasn’t a single look I really wanted to see Emma wear on this red carpet, so instead I went outside of the brand to one of my favorite collections of Spring 2019 RTW. I love when Emma gives a good vintage inspired moment on the red carpet so when I saw this ice blue Richard Quinn Spring 2019 RTW silk flapper dress which features a v-neckline, heavily beaded bodice, and a black feathered hem I immediately thought of what a good moment it would be. Before her LV contract I would have easily picked this dress for Emma without hesitation, but now I feel like a wish like this is falling on walled off ears. I didn’t completely kick LV to the curb opting to pair this dress with a black and silver ‘Petite Malle’ clutch and a pair of black ‘Black Bird’ platform sandals. A finger wave updo, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and sapphire drop earrings all would ensure that this moment is nothing but glamour.Like I said Olivia Coleman won the Best Actress prize at the 2018 Venice Film Festival and while I didn’t know what her style was before the premiere and awards ceremony I feel like I know it a little better now. For the Venice premiere Olivia wore a black Stella McCartney caped jumpsuit and she wore an red Antonio Berardi asymmetrical fitted gown for the awards gala. So I spent hours searching all of the typical British brands and wasn’t thrilled with anything, but then I went back to the Fall 2018 RTW collection from Jenny Packham and saw this simple, yet chic, fitted long sleeve gown which features a v-neckline, gem embellished shoulder detail, and maxi silhouette and it just clicked. I was going to go with black for Emma, but since it was even harder for me to pick a look for Olivia than it was for Emma I went back to the drawing board. I went really simple with the styling too adding her short pixie, defined eyes, red lips, a black Gianvito Rossi ‘Bella’ clutch, and a pair of black Gianvito Rossi ‘Irina’ pumps to really allow for Olivia to continue to deliver very chic and glamorous moments on the red carpet. I was hoping that Taylor Swift was going to jet off to Venice an sneak into the premiere of The Favourite since her boyfriend Joe Alwyn is one of the stars of this film. She didn’t. So I’m not overly hopeful that she will be at the films premiere at the New York Film Festival, but since she doesn’t have a tour date on the night of this premiere I would love to see her support Joe in NYC. I picked this tangerine orange J. Mendel Spring 2019 RTW sweetheart neckline gown which features a fine pleated corseted bodice, metallic print speckled all over, and a sheer pleated skirt for her to wear if she did sneak into this premiere. It is chic and glamorous and I definitely think that it is the perfect bold plus one moment that I want to see Taylor have on this red carpet. A romantic updo, defined eyes, dark red lips, a gold glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Ellipse’ clutch, gold Jimmy Choo ‘Lane’ sandals, and a pair of mandarin garnet and diamond IVY New York drop earrings all would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

The 2018 New York Film Festival opens September 28, 2018 and runs through October 14, 2018.

2018 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The 2018 Emmy Awards are just around the corner and I am really interested in seeing what everyone is going to bring to the red carpet. I want to see everyone really knock it out of the park this year. I feel like the expectations from last year including Nicole Kidman in Calvin Klein, Zoe Kravitz in Christian Dior Couture, Thandie Newton in Jason Wu, Tracee Ellis Ross in Chanel Couture, and Mandy Moore in Carolina Herrera are leaving high expectations for this year. The level of glamour we have seen over the course of this year makes me believe that we will see some really major moments from this years red carpet.Allison Janney has had a major year style wise with her Yanina Couture at the SAG Awards and the Reem Acra to pick up her Oscar. She is nominated yet again for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Mom and I feel like she will deliver another chic moment on the red carpet at the Emmy’s on Monday. I went for dazzling disco glamour opting to put Allison in this red Jenny Packham Resort 2019 ‘Niari’ long sleeve sequin gown which features a column silhouette with a draped plunge neckline. It isn’t that bold winning moment that we saw Allison wearing during awards season, but since she isn’t exactly the favorite to win I think it is the perfect look for her to wear for this years Emmy Awards. Glamorous waves, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a red crushed velvet Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ clutch, red Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ sandals, and a selection of Martin Katz jewels including a pair of diamond and ruby teardrop pendant earrings and a matching cocktail ring would all ensure that this is another really glamorous moment for Allison.Elisabeth Moss has rocked tea length dresses for almost every red carpet over the last year including Prabal Gurung Atelier at the 2017 Emmy’s, Christian Dior Couture at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, and Adam Selman at the 2018 SAG Awards. I want to see Elisabeth really wow me when she steps onto the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Monday night. She is facing some stiff competition to take home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in The Handmaid’s Tale for a second year in a row. If she does take the trophy home I want to see her doing it in bold style. I created this custom purple Christian Dior Couture strapless gown which features a pleated chiffon bustier bodice, belted waist, and a silk pleated mermaid skirt out of two very different gowns that came down the brands Fall 2018 Couture collection. She hasn’t done a bold color moment like this in a really long time and I definitely think that the Emmy Awards red carpet would be the perfect place for her to do so especially when paired with a romantic updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a matching purple Judith Leiber slide lock clutch, purple suede Marskinryyppy ‘Pauwau’ sandals, and Hueb ‘Apus’ diamond cluster earrings. Judith Light is the queen of the red carpet pantsuit and I decided I wanted to see that continue when she steps onto the 2018 Emmy Awards red carpet where she is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie as her role in Marilyn Miglin in the hit limited series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. I want to see Judith rock the red carpet giving us some Prince vibes wearing this black beaded Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Fall 2018 tuxedo paired with a white blouse with a ruffled bodice and cuffs. It is bold and sexy while being a major fashON moment. I think that if Judith rocked this tuxedo with a black velvet Judith Leiber Couture ‘Natalie’ clutch, smokey eyes, nude lips, her signature hairstyle, black Christian Louboutin ‘Twistissima Strass’ crystal embellished mesh pumps, and a pair of Neil Lane blue tanzanite and diamond teardrop earrings that she would be another of my favorite stars on this gown on the red carpet. I have been thinking about what I want Mandy Moore to wear for the 2018 Emmy Awards since she made the rounds with her new stylist Cristina Ehrlich during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. The first show of that trip that Mandy attended was the Schiaparelli Fall 2018 Couture collection and while she was also at Dior, Ronald Van Der Kemp, Ralph & Russo, and Fendi it was this strapless black velvet a-line gown which features an asymmetrical crystal beaded fringe embellished bustier bodice that stuck in my mind. It isn’t a boundary pushing or really dramatic moment, but since Mandy isn’t actually nominated I think that it would be the perfect couture moment for her to bring to this red carpet. Pair it with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a black Roger Vivier satin clutch with a pearl fringe crystal buckle detail, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Sin’ strappy sandals, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. jewels including diamond leaf cluster earrings and a diamond and pearl three globe ring to really ensure this looks is glamour defined from head to toe. At the Creative Arts Emmy Awards this past weekend Samira Wiley took home the trophy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series and it would shock me if we don’t see her on the red carpet Monday at the Primetime Emmy Awards. Samira has a sense of style that I am always interested to see on the red carpet. Since she won’t be taking home a trophy on Monday night I wanted to go for something bold yet simple. When I saw this lapis blue Cushnie Resort 2019 ‘Belle’ off the shoulder gown which features a square lace trimmed neckline and a fitted silhouette it just made perfect sense for me to pick for Samira. It is that bold glamorous moment that I really think that Samira would be able to sell me on the red carpet. Short curls, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of matching lapis blue Versace platform sandals, and a pair of Hueb ‘Luminus’ diamond and tanzanite cluster earrings all would keep this as that bold moment I am hoping for. Tiffany Haddish skipped attending the Creative Arts Emmy Awards this past weekend, where she won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, instead she was making the rounds at New York Fashion Week with her stylist Law Roach. I am loving what the two have cooked up for the red carpet since they started working together and I would love to see Tiffany jet off to LA for the Emmy Awards on Monday night. Since she would be a guest, and probably get some photos in the press room with her award, I wanted to go glamorous yet edgy so I turned to Brandon Maxwell. Tiffany first wore Brandon Maxwell for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and then she was his guest at the Met Gala and his was the show that she was at when she could have been picking up her Emmy Award. I looked at all different kind of looks for her to bring to life on the red carpet and I fell in love with this bold red Brandon Maxwell Spring 2019 RTW ensemble which features a cap sleeve cape top with a high center split and mock neck and a pair of high waisted wide leg pants. It is a bold choice for Tiffany to make for this red carpet, but I think that if anyone could sell it to me for the Emmy Awards it would be her especially when paired with a red satin Versace ‘Medusa Lock’ box clutch, a sleek bob, defined eyes, matching red lips, and a pair of red Casadei crossover strap sandals.

The 2018 Emmy Awards will take place on Monday September 17, 2018.

Best Dressed of June 2018

Coming off of the incredibly busy month of May with events like the Met Gala, Cannes Film Festival, Billboard Music Awards, and more June is usually a little lackluster. That was not the case this year. From movie premieres to concert tours to awards shows it seemed like stars really brought it this month. There were definitely a few potential moments that could end up on a Best Dressed of the Year list. 1) Sarah Paulson in custom Prada at the Oceans 8 NYC Premiere: I had really high expectations for the stars of Oceans 8 and the films promo tour. I have to say that maybe I set my expectations too high because I found myself highly disappointed with the tour overall. The one person who didn’t fall short of my expectations, and actually exceeded them was Sarah Paulson. All of her looks during this promo tour have been to die for, but the one that really caught my eye was the neon green plastic fringe custom Prada gown that she wore for the films premiere in NYC. It was inspired by a cocktail dress presented in the Fall 2018 RTW collection. I had actually envisioned that Miuccia Prada would use that dress as an inspiration for a gown. I had it turned into a long sleeve gown for my Madonna Met Gala wish, but Sarah sold the sleeveless version of this gown to me even better than I could have ever imagined Madonna selling it to me. This avant garde look is such a bold statement moment that it just could end up on my Best Dressed of the Year list.  2) Beyonce in custom Dundas for the On The Run 2 Tour: Beyonce and Jay-Z kicked off their On The Run 2 world tour this month. She knows how to deliver high fashion moments on the stage and has already made waves rocking designers like Balmain, LaQuan Smith, Givenchy, Gucci, Mugler, Tom Ford, & more. All of her looks are already making her the front runner for my Entertainer of the Year award. My favorite look from the tour has to be the custom Dundas ensemble which features a dramatic royal purple silk cape and a gold bead and crystal embroidered mini dress which she pairs with a pair of mini Roberi & Fraud sunglasses. It is all about the drama with this look and I can just imagine the dramatic train of the cape being blown around by one of her iconic wind machines.

3) Tommy Dorfman in Thom Browne at the MTV Movie & Television Awards: One thing that is very rare on one of my Best Dressed lists is that I feature a dude, but when you have a dude that takes a major sartorial risk like Tommy Dorfman did on the red carpet at the MTV Movie & Television Awards it is well deserved to be in contention. He gave me prep school realness wearing a Thom Browne ensemble which features a shrunken blazer, oversized white button down, and a pleated mini skirt. He completed the look with high black socks and black oxfords. I don’t know another person in Hollywood who would be brave enough to really make this look work and Tommy did with great aplomb.

4) Lily Collins in Miu Miu at the Miu Miu Resort 2019 Presentation: Sneaking onto the list at the very tail end of the month is Lily Collins who took to the front row of the Miu Miu Resort 2019 Presentation in Paris on June 30. She gave 60’s Palm Springs socialite, Megan Draper in Mad Men, vibes wearing this lemon, lime, and pink psychedelic print mini dress which features a crystal embellished neckline and long sleeves. She kept the 60’s vibe of the look all the way around with her styling. The sleek flip hair, mint eye shadow, silver Miu Miu bag, and simple sandals all really perfectly complimented this look. 5) Angelina Jolie in custom Ralph & Russo Couture at the 200th anniversary Order of St. Michael and St. George service: The royal duchesses have been out in full force recently, especially Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, but when it comes to dressing for a royal event the two should sit down and take lessons from Angelina Jolie. The gorgeous actress, director, and humanitarian attended the 200th anniversary of the Order of St. Michael and St. George at St. Paul’s Cathedral wearing a dove grey custom Ralph & Russo dress which featured a draped boat neck, 3/4 length sleeves, and a ruffled detail on the hip. The dress was paired with a matching accessories by Ralph & Russo including a clutch, gloves, and pumps. Her hat perfectly compliment the dress and the look was finished with her honorary investiture pin attached to the bodice of the dress. There wasn’t a hair or thread out of place on this look. It fit Angelina like a glove and it made me very excited to see her yet again.

6) Naomi Campbell in Calvin Klein Spring 2018 RTW at the CFDA Awards: The iconic supermodel was awarded with the Fashion Icon Award and her red carpet look proved why. As I watched the Calvin Klein Spring 2018 RTW show come down the runway on a livestream last September I fell in love with the pom pom fringe cocktail dresses. I knew that they were going to be a tough sell to many stars, but I figured there would be a few ladies whom would be daring enough to try them out. Naomi has been the first to try and honestly since she wore the one that was my absolute favorite I would leave them on the runway. I really don’t think anyone else could have sold this red fringe cocktail dress to me like Naomi did. It just oozed effortless glamour, which is exactly what a fashion icon should do.

7) Janelle Monae in Nicolas Jebran Couture at the BET Awards: June is pride month in the LGBTQ+ community and after she came out publicly earlier this year Janelle Moane made a major statement on the red carpet at the BET Awards wearing a ruffled rainbow ballgown to celebrate a part of her. She has never been afraid to celebrate her cultural heritage on the red carpet before so this is just hopefully the first of many colorful red carpet moments that we will see from the singer and actress. It was totally unexpected since Janelle tends to stick to black and white ensembles with a dash of red looks thrown in here and there. It was a total statement and she didn’t shy away from it. Her accessories including a conductors hat and rainbow Judith Leiber flying saucer clutch just really added fun, quirky touches to this statement ensemble.8) Eleanor Tomlinson in Jenny Packham Pre-Fall 2018 at the Golden Nymph Awards: The gorgeous redhead British actress is one whom I have seen here and there in the past. She has a peachy complexion and gorgeous hair. She always goes for very chic moments on the red carpet and that is exactly what she delivered when she stepped onto the red carpet at the Golden Nymph Awards. She was ethereal and glamorous wearing a steel blue Jenny Packham Pre-Fall 2018 lace cap sleeve gown which features bronze sequin floral embroidery. The whole look just made Eleanor look like a statuesque beauty.

9) Kate Hudson in Preen by Thornton Bregazzi at the PopSugar Play/Ground: She made pregnancy look oh so good. Kate decided to dress up her baby bump with a blue and white floral print Preen by Thornton Bregazzi long sleeve dress which features an asymmetrical cutout on the bodice and it fit her like a glove. She showed, like many others recently, that just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t be sexy.

10) Jessica Chastain in Paul Smith spotted out and about in NYC: Rounding out this list is Jessica Chastain. She was spotted out and about in NYC while she has been doing press for her latest film Woman Walks Ahead. She was wearing a chic flirty Paul Smith floral print chiffon dress. It is the perfect summer sidewalk style look. She paired the dress with an off white Giorgio Armani top handle bag and a pair of red Sergio Rossi ankle wrap sandals. It really did make for the perfect summer look head to toe.
