2021 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The Grammy Awards are always one of the most fun red carpets of the year. I’ve always been excited to see what the stars will bring and I have to say that is still true this year. I have been quite happy with many of the previous music awards events. I want to see everyone bring GLAMOUR and DRAMA to the “red carpet” at the Grammy Awards this year, whatever it will look like. I have some major moments in my wishes this year and several of them are in today’s set. Are you ready to get into them with me? Ariana Grande is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Lady Gaga for their hit song Rain On Me. It is the only nomination Ari earned this year and she is not performing. What does that mean? Well I would say that means that we won’t be seeing her on a red carpet this year, but with the whole “red carpet from home” idea we’ve seen I hope that she will serve up a chic look on Instagram. When thinking about what I would love to see Ari wear for the Grammy’s red carpet I thought that going short with this sleeveless ice blue Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture halter skater style dress with intricate beaded floral embroidery, an a line skirt covered in feathers, and a tulle train would be perfect. It’s fun, flirty, and a little ice capades-y and I think those are all thinks that are perfectly in tune with Ariana’s style. I think with her signature high pony, defined winged cat eyes, rose pink lips, silver crystal embellished PVC Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Catia’ ankle wrap sandals, and a pair of white diamond Butani cluster earrings that this look would scream youthful, flirty glamour from head to toe. I’ve been so excited about what Doja Cat would wear for the Grammy’s since I started to get to know her style over the fall. She has rocked major moments from Versace, Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood, and Georges Hobeika Haute Couture for the different music award shows last fall and it is just leaving me really excited to see what the Record of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Solo Pop Performance nominee will bring to the Grammy’s, especially since she will be there in person as a performer. I went for two looks one for the “red carpet” and one for the stage to accept any award that she might take home. For the red carpet I’ve had my heart set on this white and silver Viktor & Rolf Spring 2021 Couture ensemble which features a heavily embellished bralet over a cropped white puffy sleeve button down and a high waisted tiered ball skirt since I first saw it. I feel like this gown is the perfect meshing of 80’s DRAMA and sex appeal in a very modern way. Doja is a fashion chameleon and I feel like she could definitely make it work. I would style this ensemble with a sleet retro inspired updo, defined eyes, wine red lined matte red lips, a pair of white Amina Muaddi ‘Zula’ PVC-trimmed and white leather strappy sandals, and a selection of major Lorraine Schwartz jewels including ‘Lightning bolt’ white diamond cluster earrings, a halo set three stone white diamond ring, a white diamond spear head coil ring, and a halo set marquis cut white diamond cocktail ring. Now all that being said I would say that after Doja was virtually front row at the Givenchy Fall 2021 RTW collection presentation this week I would imagine that she will definitely be rocking a Givenchy look for the show this weekend. While I would still love to see that Viktor & Rolf look on the red carpet I think that this black crystal embellished slip gown with a beaded fringe hem from the Givenchy Fall 2021 RTW collection would be cool. Now I would change the look up ditching that coat it was styled with and then lining the sheer gown with liquid sequins to really elevate the glamour moment of this look. I would go full classic glam with this look styling it with a sleek fingerwave updo, defined eyes, bold matte red lips, a pair of sky high black Jimmy Choo ‘Max 150’ suede peep toe ankle strap sandals, and even more Lorraine Schwartz jewels including emerald cut emerald and white diamond drop earrings, a Colombian emerald 3 stone cocktail ring, and a white diamond and emerald angular cocktail ring to make sure that both of these would be astonishing moments for Doja to rock for her first Grammy’s red carpet. Justin & Hailey Beiber will also most likely be celebrating the Grammy’s from home since the singer who is nominated for 4 awards isn’t performing this year. The two are notoriously private as a couple and they don’t often do couples appearances. That being said I would have loved to see the couple work the Grammy’s red carpet together this year if it were a normal red carpet. Now the two have like polar opposite styles with Justin very laid back and Hailey a glamizon, but I feel like I picked looks for the two that speak to their individual style, but would compliment each other perfectly. For Justin I turned to the Celine Spring 2021 Menswear collection and this major black, red, and white color blocked leather bomber with gold detailing pair with two tone light wash loose fit jeans. Now the look was styled without a shirt on the runway, but I would add a white Celine ‘The Dancing Kid” loose fit t-shirt to the look as well as a pair of white and beige Celine ‘Blank’ low lace up toe cap sneakers to really make it a cool moment. Now for Hailey I went for super sexy glam with this black and red strapless Tony Ward Spring 2021 Couture intricately beaded sheer tulle column gown with a thigh high split and a built in bodysuit. It would absolutely be something that Hailey would be drawn to and I think it would compliment that Celine look for Justin perfectly. To complete this look perfectly for Hailey I would style this gown with a sleek bun updo with face framing tendrils, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black patent leather Christian Louboutin ‘Epic Rose 100’ wraparound ankle strap sandals and a silver pin heel, and a selection of deGrisogono jewels including black diamond and ruby ‘Volcano’ drop earrings and a dazzling white diamond and ruby cocktail ring. Lady Gaga is currently in Rome filming the new Ridley Scott “House of Gucci” movie so I would say that since she is in the production bubble that we will not be seeing her at the Grammy’s this year. She is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album and I would LOVE to still see her show us a major fashion moment on Instagram celebrating the Grammy Awards. I’ve been  wishing to see Gaga wearing this shocking pink velvet draped Schiaparelli Spring 2021 Couture gown which is draped from a headband and I know that she is really the only person who could sell this moment to me. I seriously don’t know who else could wear all this velvet and not get lost, but I know that Gaga would be able to work through this gown and serve up a major moment for me. I would style this gown with the gold glitter Valentino Spring 2021 Couture ankle strap crazy platform pumps, and over a million dollars in Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. jewels including a vintage 18k gold set white diamond, pink rubellite, and turqouise collar necklace from the 1960’s which sold at Christie’s for $905,000, an 18k gold ‘Bow Tie’ cuff bracelet, and a major 18k gold and platinum set ‘Tapestry’ white diamond and rubellite cocktail ring. It would SCREAM major avant garde glamour from head to toeWrapping up today is the fabulous Tiffany Haddish who is nominated for Best Comedy Album. I don’t know if we’ll see Tiffany at the Grammy’s yet, but I hope to at least see her show up with a major IG moment if she isn’t headed to the Staples Center. While I’ve gone for very avant garde moments for most of the stars in these wishes I wanted to go for something sleeker and more simplistic for her since she isn’t one of the music nominees. I feel like this black sheath dress from the David Koma Pre-Fall 2021 collection which features short flutter sleeves, plexi crystal circles on a peplum busts and a center split. It is sleek and sexy rock and roll glam and I feel like Tiffany would definitely be able to sell this look to me with ease especially if styled with her shaved head, defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, black Christian Louboutin ‘Spikaqueen 100’ crystal embellished PVC ankle strap pointed toe sandals, and Gismondi 1754 jewels including white diamond ‘Niagara’ waterfall cluster earrings and a white diamond ear cuff in both ears.

The 2021 Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on CBS Sunday March 14, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years red carpet here.

Dream Inaugural Ball for President Joe Biden Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

In the state of the world we live in with the COVID-19 virus and all of the political unrest what more have we than to dream of better days? I think that’s what has kept be going through the last year. With so many events cancelled and minimal press tours, no galas, and a lack of glamour I have been continuing to dream through these wishes. So that is what I am going to keep doing today with seven more wishes for looks I would have liked to see at my dream Inaugural Ball to celebrate the start of the term of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. I’ve always loved paying attention to political fashion and inauguration day has always brought some very interesting looks. So let’s see what looks I would have liked to see the people featured in today’s wishes wear shall we? Kicking things off today is Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. When it comes to the politics of fashion I have long been intrigued by AOC. She has talked many times about how she doesn’t want to be the person dressed by all of the top designers. Many of her looks are purchased via thrifting and sales. So I did the same for all the looks I picked for her to wear for the inauguration. While I went more expensive with her look to wear for the inaugural ceremony, the look I’ve picked for AOC to wear for the inaugural ball cost less that $500 all in. The centerpiece of the look is a purple Zac Posen asymmetric sleeveless gown with a  scoop neck and embellishments throughout the bodice and down the hips. I love this gown and it is definitely a signature draped moment from the House of Zac Posen, which I miss so much. This gown when originally purchased was most likely over $1,000 probably over $2,000. It arrived on The Real Real for $545 and is now on sale for 80% off that price and is now just $109, a real steal. I can definitely imagine this gown hugging Alexandria’s fantastic figure beautifully. To make this look full glamour head to toe I would have her style it with a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a gold Nina metallic foil crystal trimmed minaudiere ($62.50), a pair of black glitter Stuart Weitzman platform sandals ($144), and Miguel Ases ‘Cape’ amethyst 3-drop flower chandelier earrings ($127.80). On the eve of the election Chrissy Teigan & John Legend flew from their home in California to assist Joe Biden in campaigning in Pennsylvania, a state that ultimately served Joe Biden with the electoral victory. John will also be performing in a television special celebrating the inauguration. So with that in mind it makes total sense that they would have been included on the guest list for one of the inaugural balls. I love seeing these two together on the red carpet. Just to stand in the crowd while John performed at the Pennsylvania rally Chrissy donned couture so I know she would have served a look for an inaugural ball. I would have loved to see her go for sexy goddess glamour with this white asymmetrical LBV Spring 2021 RTW draped gown with a high split. If anyone could make this look really come to life it would be Chrissy. I would go with a sleek updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a pair of white crystal embellished Gianvito Rossi ‘Glam’ ankle strap sandals, and and a pair of dazzling floral white diamond Butani drop earrings to really make this look scream glamour. For John I wanted to break up the sea of classic penguin suits instead opting to see him wearing this black, white, and pink floral embroidered Tom Ford Fall 2020 RTW collection tuxedo. Now while the runway’s styling isn’t what I would do instead opting for more classic with a white tuxedo shirt, classic black satin striped tuxedo pants, a black bow tie, and black patent leather Christian Louboutin ‘Corteo Flat’ oxfords. It would definitely make these two look like a major power couple, of course which they are. Elizabeth Banks is a huge advocate for women’s rights and has worked closely with the Democratic Party for years. On election night the actress, director, and advocate tweeted “I’m so so so relieved. Congrats to @JoeBiden I am crying at the thought of @KamalaHarris as Vice President of the United States – wow wow wow.” I feel like Elizabeth would definitely have been seen on Inauguration night attending one of the balls and I would have expected to see her do so in very glamorous fashion. I would have loved to see her bring a true ball gown to life with this charcoal silk satin Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2020 RTW halter ball gown which features intricate silver sequined embroidery. I think that this look screams glamour and Elizabeth would have worn it with effortless ease. A sleek side parted low bun updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Emsy 100’ crystal embroidered peep toe cross strap sandals, and Kwiat ‘Eclipse’ diamond wreath earrings would definitely make sure this look exudes glamour from head to toe. At the onset of planning these wishes one look I knew immediately what I wanted to do was for Kerry Washington. She was one of the few who actually braved the pandemic and went out for in person events as a surrogate for the Biden campaign. With that and the knowledge that Kerry will be a part of the “Celebrate America” inauguration night television special I would have expected to see Kerry bring a super glamorous moment to life had there been an inaugural ball. Immediately I thought of putting Kerry in this black liquid sequin jersey Marc Jacobs Fall 2020 RTW scoop neck column gown. It was inspired by the iconic designs of Norman Norrell in the 1960’s and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect gown for Kerry to wear for this occasion. It isn’t dramatic, but all about glamour. She would be able to walk through all of the parties schmoozing with the political elite with effortless ease. A sleek center parted bob, defined smokey eyes, bold red lips, a black Miu Miu ‘Ayers’ crystal studded leather clutch, a pair of black mesh Christian Louboutin ‘Mariacar 120’ peep to cross strap d’Orsay pumps, and a statement white diamond Tiffany & Co. ‘Schlumberger® Stars and Moons’ necklace to really bring the glamour of this look to full capacity. Lady Gaga will be performing at the Inauguration Ceremony, so I would have definitely expected to see her make a wardrobe change and attend one of the balls had there been any. While I did decide to pick looks from American designers for almost all of my wishes for what could have been should there have been an Inaugural Ball, but I just couldn’t find a look from an American designer worthy of Gaga’s dramatic sensibilities. So I turned to French Haute Couture. This electric blue Stephane Rolland Spring 2020 Couture “Half Moon” duchess satin gown which features one long sleeve, strong shoulder detail, a silver crystal embellished detail on the bodice, a draped tulip skirt, center split, and a LONG dramatic train is a major moment and one that only a few would be able to sell to me on the red carpet. Lady Gaga is one of them. I know that she would wear this gown with ease while delivering it as the statement drama moment it was intended. I would have styled Gaga with the runways silver platform pumps, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, a retro glam updo, and a pair of statement surrealist inspired white diamond and sapphire de Grisogono drop earrings to make this an absolutely phenomenal fashion moment. The final look for today is for Tracee Ellis Ross who was one of the four ladies who helped host the 2020 Democratic National Convention. I have always loved Tracee and her style. She works with Hollywood power stylist Karla Welch (who according to Moore in LA will be working with Madame Vice President Kamala Harris for the inauguration) and they always make magic together. I would have loved to see Tracee give us some 60’s hostess glamour wearing this salmon pink chiffon Brandon Maxwell Fall 2020 RTW chiffon caped gown with a pussy bow detail at the neck. It is super glamorous moment and I know that if anyone could really bring it to life on a red carpet it would be Tracee. I would add a sleek 60’s retro inspired updo, defined eyes, deep berry lips, a gold metal Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ 3D flower embellished clutch, a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘

2020 American Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

With every day that comes I am getting more and more excited for the 2020 American Music Awards. The presenters and performers list is really good. It is going to be the most star studded night since lockdown hit back in March. I’m holding out hope that everyone will be on the top of their glam game. I want this red carpet to rival the Oscars and Grammy’s earlier this year in a time that almost feels foreign. All of the looks in today’s wishes would definitely make for a major night of fashion. Let’s start today’s wishes by digging into the archives for Cardi B, who is nominated for 3 American Music Awards. She has been a big fan of Mugler and pretty much since she burst onto the scene. She’s rocked major modern and vintage Mugler on several occasions. For this weekends red carpet I went back into the brands archives to pick a major moment for Cardi to bring to life with this major ensemble from the Thierry Mugler Fall 1995 Couture collection which features a huge white fur coat with a train and a black to nude sequin ombre fitted column gown with long sleeves, an illusion bodice, and a crystal embellished necklace. I definitely feel like this would be a phenomenal moment for Cardi while still being the perfect meshing of hood glam and haute couture. That coat would definitely draw in some hate from PETA, but Cardi isn’t afraid to wear a fur and that is what really sold the idea of this look to me. A sleek braided high bun updo with curled edges, thick winged smokey eyes, deep berry red lips, a pair of black crystal embellished Giuseppe Zanotti peep toe double stacked stiletto pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz earrings made of 100 carats of round cut white diamonds and teardrop colombian emeralds would definitely make this the major uber glam statement making moment I want to see from Cardi. Harry Styles has been blurring the gender lines, ever so slightly, for a while now. He was lauded for being the first solo man to cover VOGUE wearing a Gucci gown none the less recently. I have gone back and forth when it comes to Harry’s sense of style. I want him to really deliver, but often times it falls flat. I think my expectations for his style are a little higher than what the Gucci people will let him get to. Now while he is a face of Gucci, and there is a purple suit from the recently presented Gucci Spring 2021 Collection I would love to see Harry wear, I decided to go left and pick this black J.W. Anderson Spring 2021 Menswear tuxedo which features a bow detailed waist tuxedo dress and high waisted harem pants. This look is such a statement. It would continue to blur the lines between masculinity and femininity for Harry and I would love to see him give it the moment it deserves. I would style this look with a pair of black patent leather Jimmy Choo ‘Foxley’ tassel detailed loafers, white Gucci logo tube socks with black bands on the ankles, and a single Cartier ‘Pluie de Cartier’ plume inspired white diamond drop earring. It would make it a really cool moment for Harry to bring to life. Justin Beiber is performing at the AMA’s this weekend (where he is also nominated for 4 awards). I hear it’s going to be an almost identical performance to the one he just gave this last weekend at the People’s Choice Awards. I hope not, but I also hope we see Justin serve a look on the red carpet. While I appreciate his more laid back style I know his stylist Karla Welch would be able to get him into something much more fashion-y which is why I picked this really cool hand drawn Burberry by Riccardo Tisci Spring 2021 RTW look which features a long sleeve button down shirt and straight leg trousers. I love how the buttons on the sleeve were styled unbuttoned on the runway and I would do the same for Justin if I was dressing him. Honestly I would keep all the runway styling except I would swap the shoes for a pair of white Nike ‘Air Force 1 Low Supreme I/O Michael Lau’ quilted leather sneakers. Now I doubt it, but who would be a better person to introduce Justin’s performance than his supermodel wife Hailey Baldwin? It’s been a really long time since we’ve seen her make a public appearance and I would love to see her up the glam game stepping out for the American Music Awards with Justin wearing this brick red David Koma Spring 2021 RTW halter gown which features crystal tube trimming at the neck and on the split, a cutout curved split, and a sheath silhouette. It is a sexy and sporty yet very glamorous moment that I think Hailey would be able to serve up on the red carpet. A sleek center parted bob, defined eyes, soft blush pink lips, silver Azzedine Alaia twisted studded rope strappy metallic leather sandals, and glamorous Kwiat ‘Cobblestone’ teardrop pendant drop pave set white diamond drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches. Lady Gaga isn’t confirmed to attend the American Music Awards as of yet despite the fact she is nominated for 4 awards. I was all over the map when it came to deciding what I would want to see Gaga wear on this red carpet if she were to walk the red carpet. Ultimately I saw this lavender Germainer Spring 2021 RTW off the shoulder gown which features intricate ruching, a ruffled neckline, poet sleeves, tulip hips, and a flared hem and thought it would be a major moment for Gaga to bring to life. Believe it or not this gown is made up of just 5 rectangles of fashion so this look is considered to be zero waist. Germainer is one of the rising stars in sustainable fashion and I feel that in addition to the major alien like drama of the look that is something that would drawn Gaga to this look. I went round and round with how I would style this look. I adore the way the model was painted lavender to match the gown, and I can totally see Gaga doing that. I just don’t know if she would do it after the designer did in the lookbook. Instead I decided that a high metallic lavender high ponytail wig, bold smokey eyes, a statement silver crystal embellished Rinaldy Yunardi baroque inspired couture mask (which is decorative and Gaga would need a real protective mask underneath), and lavender glitter and clear PVC Pleaser ‘Adore’ crazy platform sandals. It would all make for a truly major alien glam moment. Closing out today is Maren Morris who is nominated for two AMA’s. I know she has potential. I can see it deep inside, but she doesn’t wear anything well. She has terrible taste and I know it isn’t the stylist. She has had multiple and no one has been able to make me like her red carpet looks. So I didn’t even try to pick something that would be a game changer for her standing on the red carpet, but instead opting for something I feel like is exactly what we should come to expect from Maren. I think she would be all about this hot pink and electric blue silk charmuse one shoulder Redemption Spring 2021 RTW 80’s inspired draped gown which features a bow detail on one hip, faux wrap style skirt, and a thigh high split. I personally hate it and there are very few I think could really sell it to me. That being said Maren isn’t one of them, but again it’s almost like I’ve given up at this point. A loose updo, defined eyes, soft pink glossy lips, hot pink Giuseppe Zanotti crystal trimmed ankle strap sandals, and a pair of one of a kind fancy shape Norman Silverman floral inspired dangle earrings set in 18K white gold might be enough to make me not hate it, but the look would have to be tailored perfectly.

The 2020 American Music Awards will take place on Sunday November 22, 2020. Check out all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2020 E! People’s Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

Tonight is the night! I am really excited to see what everyone is going to bring. There was still a fantastic list of stars who are nominated, presenting, and performing tonight. So I decided to finish up my wishes with a round-up of everyone left. While I enjoy detailing out my thought process in picking my wishes there just wasn’t enough time to write about everyone. There are definitely some absolutely major fashion moments I want to see on this red carpet tonight out of these wishes. While I know we can expect to see Alison Brie, Armie Hammer, Christina Hendricks, and Justin Beiber tonight I don’t know who else we can expect to see that I’ve featured in this list. But as I’ve said multiple times this year it’s better to dream in glamour than drown in the fear of what is going on in the world.

The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards will take place TONIGHT November 15, 2020 and you can see all of my wishes for this years red carpet here.

2020 MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

The VMA’s are coming and I am really excited to see what this years event will look like. The producers are creating bubbles for performers and their crews in New York and LA. I was hoping for a red carpet, but it doesn’t seem like that will happen. I do hope that glam squads are putting together formal looks in addition to performance looks so that if their clients are presenting or performing they serve us up FASHION. In today’s wishes you are going to find a plethora of superb glam moments for nominees and performers at this years VMA’s they all would have been major moments on the red carpet, but would be just as major from a studio space. I just want major fashion. Is that too much to ask for? Rain on Me has lead Ariana Grande (and of course Queen Gaga) to the most VMA nominations this year. They will also be performing at this years ceremony. We haven’t seen them able to get out and perform this song before so I am really excited to see what will come. Now while later you are going to see a wish for Gaga’s performance outfit I just picked a look for Ariana to wear if she gives us DRAMA to accept any of the awards she and Gaga are bound to win. I would love to see her grab up this fuchsia pink tulle Ralph & Russo Fall 2020 Couture ballgown which features a sweetheart neckline, asymmetrically micro pleated bustier bodice, and multi-layered voluminous fan frill skirt with cascading train. It is that frothy feminine moment that we know Ari loves and I feel like it would be a superb moment for her to wear for the VMA’s. Now she would most likely style this look with her signature pony tail (insert eye roll here), but I would love to see her switch things up and style this gown with a major big bun updo. A thick winged eyeliner, soft pink lips, a pair of fuchsia pink grosgrain Casadei ‘Cannete Blade’ pointed toe stilettos, and a selection of Butani jewels including simple pink ruby and white diamond teardrop stud earrings, a statement white diamond collar necklace, and a selection of two pink ruby and white diamond bracelets would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Ariana. Camila Cabello is far from someone I get excited to see on the red carpet. She tends to look cheap and disheveled even when she’s wearing couture. It really is her hair that ruins looks for me. I feel like she could deliver good looks, but her pageant princess meets sex hair just doesn’t work for me. To put her on the path to a glamorous moment I started with this dusty sky blue tulle Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture off the shoulder knot draped a-line ball gown. I feel like this gown speaks to Camila’s sexy meets bohemian glam sense of style. I feel like this could be a superb moment for Camila. I feel like maybe the pairing of Camila and Dior, both of whom I usually find very lackluster, could potentially work very well together. To make this look really work I would love to see Camila style this gown with a romantic curly and braided updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver lizard leather embossed Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Catia’ strappy sandals, and Tiffany & Co. drop earrings set in platinum with emerald-cut aquamarines and baguette white diamonds from the 2019 Tiffany Blue Book Collection.Dua Lipa knows how to bring the sexy and I am hoping we will see her take part in the show where she is nominated for 4 awards. I thought going to a British label known for his love of sex was the right choice for Dua. I love this black velvet and lace Christopher Kane Fall 2020 RTW mini dress which features a bralet, cutout underboob, corset style waist, and a flounced a-line skirt and I really do think it would be super sexy glam moment for Dua to wear for an event like the VMA’s. I feel like Kane designs are a little underrated. He is a master at toeing the like between sex, glamour, and trash without it coming across as trashy. A sleek updo, defined soft smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Rabakate Alta 120’ peep toe half d’Orsay platform pumps, and art deco inspired Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 geometric white diamond and emerald drop earrings would definitely ensure this look screams absolute glamour from head to toe. When Lady Gaga is announced as a guest at any event she automatically becomes the person I am most excited to see. I feel like I never know what she will bring to life on the red carpet. I am sad that there will be no actual red carpet for Lady Gaga to grace this year. As I mentioned earlier I hope stars will bring a major fashion moment for both acceptance speeches and performances. Gaga is one of the stars who I actually picked two different looks for starting with that red carpet look for accepting the awards I am sure she will take home this year. It was recently announced that Gaga will front the next Valentino fragrance campaign and so I turned to the Valentino Spring 2020 Couture collection for a major fashion moment for her to bring to life at the VMAs with this baby pink silk and ostrich feather gown. This gown which features that major feathered bodice, a red lined skirt, thigh high split, and a dramatic train is definitely in tune with Gaga’s style. She is one of very, very few stars who I feel like would be able to make this gown really come to life and not let it wear her. I would let the gown be the statement with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of baby pink Pleaser ‘Aspire’ peep toe platform sandals, and a selection of dazzling Tiffany & Co, jewels including drop earrings set in platinum featuring pink kunzites and white diamonds and a geometric circle white diamond 2015 Blue Book cuff bracelet. To perform “Rain on Me” in a yet to be disclosed location (hopefully the streets of NYC) I turned to The Blonds and this major sequin and crystal detailed look from their Fall 2018 RTW collection. I fell like this gold moto jacket trimmed with floor length fringe paired with a disco ball bodysuit is right up Gaga’s ally. It would be a super cool moment styled with long center parted straight hair, a gold Manokhi biker hat, thick defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, the runways spike studded gold thigh high Christian Louboutin boots, and by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. ‘Leaves’ ear clips with peridots and diamonds set in platinum and 18 karat gold.

The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on Sunday August 30, 2020. You can see all my VMA’s wishes here.

50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER Part 10

Today we finish with my 50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER list. I did my research. The looks in this list are all based on looks that stars wore on red carpets all over the world. Now while some might think of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Katherine Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, and Twiggy when they think of iconic fashion moments. That is true, but you won’t find any of them on these lists. If you’re ready to ask me why I have an answer. Mostly their iconic fashion moments all were created for them by the costume designers contracted by the studios they worked for. I wanted to include only the looks that weren’t planned in conjunction with the studio for their impact. They might have been pulled together by high paid stylist, but not in a way that a studio would craft a look for their star based on the image they wanted them to have. Now this look is only ranked from the oldest to the newest and not based on how iconic I think that the look is. So let’s get into it.46) Nicole Kidman in Calvin Klein by Appointment at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival: Between 2007 and 2017 Nicole Kidman feel out of love with fashion and then started to fall back in love with it. I fell in love with it too seeing it was look number 4 on my Best Dressed of 2017 list. I feel like this black and white Calvin Klein by Appointment bondage meets ballerina tea length tutu was the culmination of her falling back in love with fashion. This look took inspiration of Rudi Gernreich’s 1964 ‘Topless Swimsuit’ with a major ballerina skirt. In the CK by Appointment ad campaign this Raf Simons design was even show bare chested. For Nicole he of course modified the design to have the bustier bodice. It was a super enchanting moment for me. Modern yet classic glamour all rolled into one look. 47) Elle Fanning in Valentino Couture at the 2018 Berlin Film Festival: 2018 was a major year for fashion and the first major look of the year came when Elle Fanning attended the Opening Ceremony of the Berlin International Film Festival giving us 60’s glamour wearing this bold Valentino Couture ensemble. It is still my favorite Elle Fanning red carpet moment ever and one of the best Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli looks ever delivered on the red carpet. I never would have expected Elle to wear a look like this. When I saw the look on the runway I honestly would have expected it to overwhelm Elle’s frame, but she wore it with effortless elegance. 48) Lady Gaga in Valentino Couture at the 2018 Venice Film Festival: Each time I’ve featured Lady Gaga in this list it has corresponded with a new wave in her career. Her third and final look featured on this list comes from the frothy pink feathered Valentino Couture gown that she wore for the Venice Film Festival premiere of A Star Is Born. I SCREAMED when I saw this look. I loved this gown on the runway, but really felt like it was destined just to be an editorial look. So when Gaga showed up giving us full movie star drama wearing this gown in Venice I my heart skipped several beats. As I said earlier 2018 was a really strong year fashion wise but ultimately Lady Gaga in this gown topped my Best Dressed of the Year list, but honestly all of the first 4 looks could have easily tied for first it was so hard to cut down the list and rank everything. I will always rank this among Lady Gaga’s best red carpet moments ever. 49) Billy Porter in Christian Siriano at the 2019 Academy Awards: The 2019 Oscars red carpet was kind of a let down. I was overall disappointed in all the nominees and presenters. Billy Porter though, who was there to host the red carpet for ABC, served us up a MAJOR fashion moment wearing a custom Christian Siriano tuxedo meets ballgown. It was a major moment for queer fashion on the red carpet. This is the ONLY men’s look I’m adding to this list because of how ground breaking it was. I feel like everything about this look screams ICONIC. While I don’t think it shattered boundaries for men on the red carpet I do think it put some major cracks in what we expect to see men wear on the red carpet. 50) Elle Fanning in Christian Dior Couture at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival: The final look on the list is this major Elle Fanning moment in Cannes. In 2019 as she was making her rounds at the festival as a member of the jury she stepped out for one of the premieres wearing this major Christian Dior Couture by Maria Grazia Chiuri look. This is a new take on the iconic Christian Dior “New Look.” It was amazing tribute that felt very glamorous without feeling costume-y. It was an unexpected yet elegant moment which is a lot more casual than what I would have expected from Elle, but  that is part of what made it amazing. The custom Steven Jones hat really made this look. It wouldn’t have been the same without it.

So there you have it my full list of the 50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER. Who are you surprised to see included? Who do you think should have made the cut? What do you think didn’t quite live up to iconic status?

50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER Part 8

Today we continue with my 50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER list. So let’s get into it.36) Rihanna in Giambattista Valli Couture at the 2015 Grammy Awards: Yesterday I talked about one of Rihanna’s most iconic looks. Had this been a list of just Rihanna looks it would have started way before 2014, but as she has grown as an artist her fashion looks have just gotten more and more iconic. That being said 2015 really was the year of Rihanna on the red carpet starting with the pink ‘Cupcake’ Giambattista Valli Couture gown which she wore to twirl her way into the Grammy Awards. I NEVER would have picked this gown for Rihanna. I honestly our have picked this gown for someone like Ariana Grande, but Rihanna showed that couture can be effortless wearing this gown with barely there glam and still created a look that I will never forget. 37) Rihanna in Guo Pei Couture at the 2015 Met Gala: Several months later she did it again showing up as the last guest to arrive at the 2015 Met Gala wearing this iconic Guo Pei Couture cape. It was the look that sparked a million memes. Most likened this look to a comforter, eggs, and a pizza. What I loved about this look is that Rihanna paid homage to an actual Chinese designer for the Chinese themed gala, and did so in a MAJOR way. She had several attendants to help carry her train up the red carpet and make sure it was placed perfectly. While everyone was calling Beyonce the Queen of the Met Gala Rihanna showed that she is not one to underestimate. As Andre Leon Tally said when he saw it “It’s the black Frozen. It’s the look of the night.” It was one of the biggest looks of the year and of the decade for sure. I feel like people will still talk about this look in the next century. That’s iconic. 38) Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell at the 2016 Academy Awards: Lady Gaga’s second appearance in my 50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER list is significantly more glamorous than her first appearance. In 2016 we were on the road to Joanne and solidly in Lady Gaga’s romance with her stylist turn designer’s creations on the red carpet. It was also where she earned her first Oscar nomination. In this time I was really loving red carpet lady pants and this custom Brandon Maxwell ensemble gave them to us in a super glamorous way. While Gaga might have been robbed of the Oscar this time, she owned best dressed lists. 39) Claire Danes in Zac Posen at the 2016 Met Gala: Claire Danes took the 2015 Met Gala theme of Fashion and Technology very seriously. While most of the guests went to futuristic and robotic inspired designs Claire called on master creator Zac Posen. Zac made s custom strapless silver blue ballgown that on the bright lit red carpet was a glamorous Cinderella glamour with perfect construction, but what made this look ICONIC is when she walked inside the museum where it was dark and you saw that Zac had woven fiber optics into the gown and it literally lit up the night. 40) Celine Dion in Ralph & Russo Couture Out in Paris in 2016 Prior to 2016 Celine Dion was always one who delivered very glamorous couture moments on the red carpet, but then she started working with Law Roach at the time and started having a lot of FUN with fashion. Over the summer of 2016 she had a series of concerts in France and on her way to the venues each day she gave us a fashion show wearing some major fashion moments to leave her hotel (and often times turned the whole moment into a full on event.) There were so many major looks, but when she walked out the doors of the hotel dressed in head to toe white with a Ralph & Russo cape that trailed behind her with the big wide brimmed hat and those sunglasses I was left in awe. This look had just recently walked the runway and Celine, through Law, was able to snatch this cape for a super quick street style moment. It was a risk for the brand for sure, but it lasted making it that quick street style moment instantly iconic.

50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER Part 5

Today we continue with my 50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER list. Today we are halfway through this list. So let’s get into it.21) Anne Hathaway in Atelier Versace at the 2008 Venice Film Festival: Anne Hathaway may have gotten her big break in 2001 thanks to The Princess Diaries but she finally made transition to full on movie star with her role in Rachel Getting Married. She became a style icon to be with this tour too. She kicked off promoting the film in easily her most iconic fashion moment ever giving us avant garde couture mermaid vibes wearing this strapless high low ruffled Atelier Versace gown. This is one of the first looks I think of when I think of Anne’s history on the red carpet. It was a risk. It isn’t your typical red carpet gown. The look would honestly have been more suited for a music awards red carpet had you asked me at the time, but Anne wearing this gown in Venice was fantastic. 22) Michelle Obama in Jason Wu at the 2008 Presidential Inaugural Ball: The inauguration of the Obama’s ushered in a new era of glamour to the American Presidency. There aren’t very many first ladies that I think of as truly groundbreaking style stars and there hadn’t been one in my lifetime, until Michelle Obama. She showed us from the very beginning how she showed she knew how to make glamour come to life. She demonstrated knowing how to dress perfectly for every occasion and used her platform as the first lady to, for the most part, champion American talent. Her inaugural ball gown in 2008 was a testament to that. In 2008 Jason Wu was a fledgling fashion label and this ivory one shoulder 3D flower appliqued gown really catapulted him to fashion stardom. It is amazing how one red carpet moment can do that. 23) Fan Bingbing in Dragon Robe at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival: Talking about how one dress can launch a career enter Fan Bingbing in a modern glamorous take on a traditional Chinese Dragon Robe. While the red carpet moment didn’t launch a designer’s career into superstardom, but instead it launched Fan Bingbing as a style icon. It was her first ever Cannes Film Festival red carpet and it was such a glamorous way to honor her Chinese heritage on an international platform. It launched Fan into international fashionista status. Since this look we have seen her wearing every single major fashion brand. It made sure that we learned how to appreciate gowns with cultural significance on the red carpet.  24) Lady Gaga in the infamous Meat Dress at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards: I mentioned the other day that not all the looks in this list are looks that I think are good fashion moments. Iconic is defined as widely recognized and well-established. Well Lady Gaga’s dress made of raw meat at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards is definitely widely recognized and well-established. It is easily the least expected fashion moment ever. I still don’t understand it, but it was definitely one of the things that helped catapult her into superstar status. It wasn’t a cute look. 25) Gwyneth Paltrow in Emilio Pucci at the 2011 Emmy Awards: This is the second look that Gwyneth Paltrow has brought to life to make my ICONIC red carpet moments list. She has been bringing big moments since she came onto the scene. I included this black and nude beaded Emilio Pucci ensemble in this list because it was really the first time a crop top worked on the red carpet. Wearing a look like this has such a casual vibe behind it and is far from what we expect to see on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards. The fact that she did something so unexpected and made it work is what made this look iconic. It also sparked a trend of crop tops on the red carpet. I don’t know whether to love her for it or loathe her, but either way she started a started a sartorial trend and we continue to see the legacy. Also she wore this look weeks before it walked the runway in Milan. It takes icon status to make that happen.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 35

We are almost to the end of my 2020 Met Gala wishes. These are all the ones that you heard me talk about adding up unto this point. I was adding looks, stars, and archive moments that I just knew needed to be included in this years wishes that I didn’t get involved early enough. These wishes are superb. I am just holding my breath hoping that they will be brought to life. I was working on another project when I found this butter yellow Vivienne Westwood Spring 2005 RTW draped high low off the shoulder corseted ballgown. I was obsessed with it immediately. I was lacking a good Vivienne Westwood moment for my Met Gala wishes and this was it. It speaks to the enduring legacy of the Vivienne Westwood. I was thinking of one of these gowns for Camila Morrone and this one was the perfect one. It would be a huge improvement over her nude crumpled Elie Saab disaster she wore for her Met Gala debut last year. This look oozes sophistication and that signature brand of Vivienne Westwood glamour. A sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and pair of bright yellow satin Aquazzura ‘Deneuve’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of dazzling Samer Halimeh New York jewels including a statement white and yellow diamond choker necklace and a matching cocktail ring would all ensure this look is perfection from head to toe. Aside from the customized Celine gown I hadn’t picked any other looks from the label for the Met Gala red carpet. I was actually SHOCKED that last year after several red carpet moments over the course of awards season that Heidi Slimane didn’t dress a single soul for the Met Gala red carpet. He sent several gowns down the runway for his Celine Fall 2020 RTW collection. This black liquid sequin sheath dress which features a ruffled neckline is gorgeous and definitely on theme for this years Met Gala red carpet. I was raking my brain for the perfect person to wear this gown on this red carpet and Jennifer Aniston came to mind. Now Jennifer has never attended a Met Gala in the past and she isn’t the most exciting person, but I do think that this gown is something she would definitely be drawn to. I am usually not a fan of the way Jennifer styles her ensembles. She doesn’t usually put a lot of effort into her looks. I would love to see her put the effort into her look for her Met Gala debut styling this look with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Gianvito Rossi peep toe slingback pumps, and vintage art deco scalloped white diamond cluster stud earrings from Fred Leighton.A star I knew I needed to see on the Met Gala red carpet this year is Lady Gaga. After her 4 wardrobe changes on the steps last year when she was the co-host of the gala I want to see Gala deliver superb glamour on the red carpet. She delivered many timeless dramatic glamour moments on the red carpet over the course of the A Star Is Born promo tour and the subsequent awards season leading to her Oscar win. It makes me pray to the gods of fashion that we will see her on this years Met Gala red carpet. I went on a search for the perfect gown for her to bring to life on this years red carpet. I would love to see Gaga bring this red Mary Katrantzou Spring 2020 RTW ‘Love’ gown which features a hand draped taffeta bodice and a floor length skirt in duchess satin. I know that this gown needs someone with presence for it to be perfection and Gaga has presence in endless abound. Styling this look with a 40’s inspired rolled updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red crystal embellished Rene Caovilla ‘Celebrita’ ankle strap platform sandals, and a statement Tiffany & Co. collar necklace designed by Paloma Picasso for the 1985 Blue Book, made of rare and colorful gemstones was acquired in honor of the 35th anniversary of Paloma’s collaboration with Tiffany & Co. would make for an absolutely major moment for Gaga to deliver on the Met Gala red carpet. As I was looking at runway looks that I really wanted to see on this years Met Gala red carpet I kept looking at this black and ice white Givenchy Fall 2018 Couture gown which features structured high neck, short sleeve crop top with a sash train layered over a silk column gown. This gown was Clare Waight Keller’s tribute to the late Hubert de Givenchy and was inspired by one of the creations he made for her costumes in the film Funny Face. I wasn’t sure who should wear it. I knew it needed to be someone with height. Then Nicole Kidman popped into my head. She has the height, grace and elegance to truly bring this look to life on this red carpet. Styling this look with a retro updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver crystal embellished black satin Sergio Rossi cross strap peep toe sandals, and a selection of vintage jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of white diamond and pearl tear drop pendant earrings, a selection of delicate white diamond and sapphire art deco bracelets, and two early 20th century art deco Burmese sapphire and white diamond rings would make sure this retro glam look delivers regal perfection.Rounding out this list is the always beautiful Taylor Swift. The songstress has always been one to deliver chic moments on the red carpet. She has worn super glamorous gowns from J. Mendel, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, and Badgley Mishka as well as an edgy Louis Vuitton cocktail dress in past years. I decided to dig into the archives of one of my favorite, yet underrated design houses Viktor & Rolf for the perfect gown for Taylor to wear on this red carpet. This strapless ballgown which features a black and pink beaded corset bodice and a tulle skirt angular cut hailed from one of my favorite Viktor & Rolf collections, Spring 2010 RTW. The edgy cut tulle designs were rocked at the time by Rihanna, Katy Perry, Jessica Alba, & Anna Paquin. When this gown was first presented Taylor was in her fledgling country princess days, so it never would have even been an option for her. Given her style transformations over the years from princess to sex pot to lady I feel like now is the perfect time for Taylor to pull this glamorous, yet inherently edgy, moment out of the Viktor & Rolf archive and give it the red carpet moment it deserves. Taylor would infuse a sense of classic glamour into this moment. It would definitely be a perfect interpretation of the theme of this years Met Gala “About Time: Fashion and Duration” especially when styled with a loose romantic updo, thick winged cat eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of rose gold glitter and crystal Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ pointed toe pumps, and a dazzling Gismondi 1754 white diamond teardrop wreath necklace.

PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2020 RTW RED CARPET WISH LIST PART 2

Paris Fashion Week, much like New York Fashion Week, produced a plethora of options for stars to deliver stellar red carpet moments. But given the current state of our world right now the only thing we can do is fantasize about what could be. I am hoping that as the curve of this virus stars to decline and we start to see events being rescheduled that many of these wishes will come true. Some of my favorite collections of the season are featured in this set of wishes. I think that is evidenced well by just how many looks from some of the shows I have made wishes for. I am praying for glamour and drama coming forward. Which of the looks below to you most want to see brought to life on the red carpet?
