2021 SAG Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

“We’re looking at trying to do a unique award ceremony in an hour and leave people saying, which they very rarely do [with an awards show], ‘Man, I wish we had more,'” SAG Awards co-executive producer Todd Milliner told Variety about this years ceremony. That has me very intrigued. After taking a lot of time to find my inspiration to write wishes for this years event I’ve finally found it. While I am disappointed that this years show isn’t going to be live I am still excited to see what fashion the stars will bring to this show. Another of the producers for the show Kathy Connell said “We hope they [the nominees] respect the show enough and everybody does, and their fellow actors, that they don’t want to disappoint the audience at home by letting any surprises go.” So far this is true and it seems like even stylists are holding images of looks to release them when the red carpet would usually take place. For the Golden Globes Carey Mulligan rocked a draped white Prada column gown. I wasn’t thrilled with the fit of the gown and the look was lacking great hair and makeup. She kept a similar beauty look with a white satin suit for the Critics Choice Awards. It seems like white has been her color of choice this awards season so with that in mind for the SAG Awards I would love to see Carey bring something incredibly chic from head to toe to life. I found the perfect look for Carey in this vintage Chanel Couture ensemble which is a white short sleeve lace blouse, a black banded waist, and a white sequin diamond pattern embroidered a-line tea length organza skirt from the brands Spring 2001 Couture collection. I have been loving vintage Chanel in lieu of many of Virginie Viard’s collections and I believe that Carey would look absolutely phenomenal wearing this gorgeous gown. With a soft curly romantic updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of white Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and antique Victorian white pearl and white diamond silver-upon-blacken gold drop earrings from London based vintage jewelry dealer Jewellery Discovery I know that Carey would have a phenomenal glamour moment on her hands. Kerry Washington hasn’t made any appearances this awards season, but with her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series nomination at the SAG Awards I am praying that she ends up serving us a look. I looked at a lot of dresses and there wasn’t a whole lot that spoke to me. This black Iris Van Herpen Spring 2021 Couture high low strapless gown with a peplum train, mini underskirt, and intricate sequin embroidery was the gown that really spoke to me. I can’t say that Kerry is someone I would normally think of when looking at an Iris Van Herpen collection, but the moment I saw this dress I couldn’t help but shake the idea of Kerry bringing this gown to life. I’ve loved her looks since she’s worked with Law Roach and the two make magic together. It would be a super cool edgy glam moment and I believe that Kerry would absolutely be able to sell this gown to me. I would add a sleek side parted bob, defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Moon Crystal’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a statement emerald and white diamond de Grisogono collar necklace to really make this a statement edgy glam moment for Kerry from head to toe.Leslie Odom Jr. has been showing up in some super cool fashion moments for award shows so far this season. He rocked hot off the runway Valentino Couture for the Golden Globe awards and Celine look from a collection we haven’t seen a lookbook from for the Critics Choice Awards. I am very excited to see what is last few stops along awards season including this weekends SAG Awards. I’ve always thought that Leslie in classic menswear styles with a twist. That is exactly what I found in the Tom Ford Fall 2021 Menswear collection. I adore this black leopard print tuxedo jacket styled with a silk button down shirt and black tuxedo trousers. It is a cool moment and I definitely believe that Leslie would be able to sell this look with ease. I would keep the styling rather simple finishing the look with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlato Flat’ glittered velvet and patent leather oxfords. Nicole Kidman dress in her best custom Louis Vuitton for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year to partake in the ceremony virtually with her family from their living room in Australia. I am very excited to see what she will wear for this weekends SAG Awards where she is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series. I had several options for what I would like to see Nicole wearing, but it was this black liquid sequin Giambattista Valli Fall 2021 RTW column gown which features a single sleeve, floral embellishment, and a bow detail on the shoulder that really spoke to me. I feel like it this gown is incredibly sleek and glamorous with a hint of sex appeal and Nicole would easily be able to make this look come to life on the red carpet. With this being a pre-recorded virtual event I know this simpler silhouette would be perfect for Nicole. A soft romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, black crystal embellished mesh Rene Caovilla pointed toe slingback pumps, and a selection of jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of Georgian pendeloque rose cut white diamond drop earrings, a pink spinel and white diamond cocktail ring, and a 1960’s Colombian emerald and white diamond cocktail ring would all tie this look up together in one glamorous package. Viola Davis has been loving bold prints lately. She’s rocked Lavie by CK for the Golden Globes, XulyBet for a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon, and Duro Olowu for the NAACP Image Awards. Each one was statement making and bold. Never a look I would have expected to see from Viola and who knows if they are looks she would have chosen to wear had this been a regular year. I didn’t go the bold pattern for my SAG Awards wishes I really wanted to see Viola wearing this teal chiffon Elie Saab Fall 2021 RTW a-line flowing gown with a sweetheart crystal halter neckline, ruched bodice, and a crystal waist. I saw this gown and knew immediately it was perfect for Viola. It was the first gown I picked for my SAG Awards wishes. It was actually the thought of not putting this wish into the universe that kept me coming back to look at my wishes and persevering to make sure I got them up. To make this a perfect red carpet moment I would love to see Viola style this gown with a teased afro hairstyle, smokey eyes, deep burgundy glossy lips, a silver crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture slim faceted rectangle clutch, a pair of strappy silver Casadei ankle strap platform sandals, and selection of Thelma West jewels including simple white diamond drop earrings and a statement white diamond cushion cut cocktail ring.

The 2021 SAG Awards special will broadcast on Sunday April 4, 2021. You can see all my wishes for this years show here.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

So the Golden Globes were last night and I have to say that even though I went into it with low expectations I was quite happy with what we ended up seeing. While all of the nominees, and a few of the presenters, joined the show via Zoom it still felt very normal. It has me excited for the rest of awards season. Several of the people in this set of wishes took home trophy’s last night and I cannot wait to see what they wear for the Critics Choice awards this coming weekend. Kicking things off today is Anya Taylor Joy who took home the Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie award last night for her performance in The Queen’s Gambit. She did so wearing a custom emerald green vintage inspired Christian Dior Couture look. I want to see Anya take to the Critics Choice Awards where she is nominated for the same award giving us fairy glam wearing this lavender Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture sleeveless feathered skater dress with a high neck and a dramatic chiffon cape. I so would not pick this dress for any other person for a major film/tv awards red carpet, but Anya’s sprite like elegance just spoke to me when I saw this dress. Out of any of the awards Anya is, or could be, nominated for the Critics Choice is really the only one where this dress would work. I would let the dress be the statement of this moment styling the gown with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, glossy nude pink lips, a pair of silver Roger Vivier ‘Marlene Strass’ ankle strap sandals, and simple halo set Norman Silverman emerald cut white diamond stud earrings. Catherine O’Hara was also a big winner last night picking up the Best Actress in a Comedy Series trophy wearing a custom rose print Vera Wang suit. Now compared to that this black and red AZ Factory Spring 2021 RTW long sleeve gown which features a drop waist, exposed zipper, and a full pleated ball skirt is like 3x as glamorous. I will say the first thing I thought when I saw this gown was that it was too similar to the custom Schiaparelli Couture gown that Lady Gaga wore for the Inauguration of President Joe Biden that it would never be worn, but when I thought of Catherine wearing this gown I thought it would be perfect. Now I really do wish that Catherine would bring a super dramatic glamour moment to life. I feel like her wearing this gown would feel perfect. Style it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, an pair of black crystal embellished mesh Sergio Rossi ‘SR1’ pointed toe pumps, and a statement sugarloaf cabochon chalcedony, hexagonal white agate hoop, carnelian plaque, brilliant-cut diamond, and 18K gold David Webb retro inspired link necklace and It would scream glamour from head to toe. Leslie Odom Jr. might not have taken home a Golden Globe last night but he served up a LOOK. His stylist Avo had him as one of the first gentleman to wear a Valentino Couture look that is pretty much hot off the runway. I won’t like and say I thought it would have been more apt for a red carpet like the Critics Choice or the SAG Awards, but it was a really freaking cool look. Now with that in mind I would love to see him keep up taking sartorial risks turning to the bad boy of menswear Thom Browne for this look for this weekends Critics Choice Awards. I love this black shrunken tuxedo paired with a crisp white shirt and black bow tie. It is basically a classic tuxedo, but done so with shrunken proportions. It’s cool and elegant. I definitely can see Leslie rocking this look and honestly the only thing I would change about the styling is swapping the plain black oxfords for a pair of black and white Thom Browne woven leather brogues. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Uzo Aduba on a red carpet. I hate that lockdown stole the promo tour from Mrs. America from us and is stealing awards season red carpets from us. I will say that after last night I am more hopeful that stars will dress up and have fun and serve glamour this awards. I have always felt that Uzo gives her best looks when she is wearing bold solid colors and so when I was looking for the perfect Critics Choice Awards gown for her I fell in love with the idea of seeing her in this fuschia silk Alberta Ferretti Resort 2021 one shoulder draped gown. It is glamorous and I just feel like it would flow over her gorgeous curves beautifully. I would take this gown and style it with a bun of braids, defined eyes, nude lips, a fuchsia crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Slide’ clutch, fuschia pink Amina Muaddi ‘Romy 95’ crystal trimmed scalloped edge pointed toe pumps, and dazzling Anabela Chan chandelier earrings in 18k rose gold vermeil with 18k gold earring posts, hand-set with an array of laboratory-grown synthesised and simulated gemstones including rubies, pink and orange sapphires with rose tourmalines to ensure that this look screams colorful glamour from head to toe for Uzo. Vanessa Kirby closes out today’s wishes. I know that Vanessa has a very simple and sleek approach to dressing, but I want her to put on some beads and crystals and really dazzle us. So I would love to see the Best Actress nominee wearing this black fully beaded Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2021 Couture strapless bustier gown with intricate floral detail, draped hips with fringe, and a thigh high split. It is old Hollywood glamour at its best and I know that it would be an absolutely perfect moment for Vanessa to wear for a red carpet like the Critics Choice Awards. I would make this look scream glamour styling it with a sleek hairstyle tucked behind her ears, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of strappy black Christian Louboutin ‘Tarlatarte’ PVC detailed strappy sandals, and dazzling white diamond and ruby Amwaj chandelier earrings.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Palm Springs International Film Festival Black Tie Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The Palm Springs International Film Festival and Film Awards Gala is not presenting an in-person event this year due to the pandemic, however the Palm Springs International Film Society is recognizing this year’s best in filmmaking. In a special on Entertainment Tonight later this week will celebrate the honorees awards with exclusive interviews. The Palm Springs International Film Society looks forward to seeing us again with a red carpet in in 2022! The PSIFF Black Tie Awards Gala is usually the kickoff to awards season. It is traditionally the first red carpet after the new year ahead of the Golden Globe Awards. With some of the nominees this year I am very disappointed that we will not get a red carpet, but I still wanted to talk about what I would have loved to see the honorees bring to life on the red carpet. So I am taking a break from my Golden Globe Awards wishes today and tomorrow to bring you wishes for these nominees. Andra Day has earned herself several big award nominations this year so far with nods from the Globes and the Critics Choice Awards. There is still Oscar buzz for her as well thanks to her performance in The United States vs. Billie Holiday which earned her the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Had there been a red carpet this year I would have loved to see Andra give us something different than I have picked for her in recent posts. So far this year I have gone for really retro glam looks from Giambattista Valli Couture and Schiaparelli Couture for the songstress turned actress to bring to life. I was doing some looking and I saw this black and white Georges Hobeika Spring 2021 RTW asymmetrical caped gown which features a high neck, beaded fern leaf detail on the bodice, belted waist, and a high low hem. I don’t know what about this gown spoke to me, but the thought of Andra bringing this moment to life on a red carpet was a phenomenal idea for me. While it screams modernity I also see that with the right styling it could still scream retro glamour with the right styling. The whole retro glam vibe is definitely Andra’s signature so I would style this look with a sleek beehive embellished with a silver crystal embellished black satin Prada headband, defined winged eyes, deep glossy berry lips, a hot pink satin Gucci envelope clutch, black satin Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Sphera’ crystal detailed ankle strap chunky heel platform sandals, and a selection of Anabela Chan jewels including a pair of ruby garnet, pink sapphire, & rose tourmaline ‘Lily’ pendant stud earrings, an amethyst, pink sapphires, peridot, blue topaz, canary citrine, coral cabochon, and white diamond ‘Rose Neredies’ cocktail ring, a ruby, fuchsia pink sapphire, and rose pink sapphire ‘Nova Coil’ ring, and a crimson red rubellite ‘Mirage’ cocktail ring with marquise, trillion and round brilliant-cut rubies, orange sapphires, and rose tourmalines. Carey Mulligan could very well take her role in Promising Young Woman all the way to the Oscars. That performance has gotten her honored at the Palm Springs Film Festival with the International Star Award.  I am really looking at all of the designers Carey tends to gravitate toward, but also making sure I am making wishes I really want to see from her. I’ve already picked looks from Dior and Chanel for Carey and decided to go with a little bit of a wish picking this navy silk Giorgio Armani Spring 2021 RTW cap sleeve tea length gown which features a plunging neckline, intricate beaded flower embroidery, and a center split. This look screams glamour and and I feel like it would be something perfect for Carey to bring to life for this red carpet. A loose romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a navy satin Jil Sander ‘Goju Small’ clutch, metallic blue Giorgio Armani peep toe t-strap sandals, and a pair of London by De Beers ‘Thames Path’ white diamond cluster earrings with teardrops would finish this look absolutely beautifully. Leslie Odom Jr. is another who is very likely to run awards season all the way to the Oscars. He was phenomenal as Sam Cooke in One Night In Miami so I definitely understand. So I am definitely keeping an eye on him. I am really excited to see what major menswear moments he will wear over the course of awards season. Had there been an actual red carpet for this years PSIFF Black Tie Awards Gala I would have loved to see Leslie wearing this black Versace Pre-Fall 2021 tuxedo with a two tone black and tan shawl lapel one button lapel tuxedo jacket. I adore this tuxedo and I would love to see this look on Leslie especially if styled with a white Versace collarless button down with a black ribbon detail at the neck, and gold crystal embellished buttons on the neck and cuff, a pair of black and cream leopard print Christian Louboutin ‘Style on the Nile’ loafers, and a black and gold Versace ‘V-Race’ duel time watch. Riz Ahmed is another one of the men I am very excited to see on the red carpet this  awards season. I want to see him bring some very interesting moments on the red carpet. He is the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor winner for his performance in Sound of Metal. Had there been a red carpet this year for the PSIFF I would have opted to put Riz in this black and white print Haider Ackermann Fall 2020 Menswear tuxedo which features a thin lapel blazer and black slim fit trousers. Now on the runway the look was styled with a a three button vest and no shirt, but I think I would ditch the vest and add a white Haider Ackermann crystal collar button up dress shirt to really make this a super cool menswear moment. To add the perfect finishing touches to this look I would add a pair of black velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Nit Night’ grosgrain strap and silver spike studded loafers and a black alligator strap Cartier ‘Rotonde de Cartier’ AstromystĂ©rieux watch. It would make another major menswear moment that I would die to have in my own closet for this awards season. Finishing out today is Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress honoree Viola Davis. I adored her performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and I am very excited to see her looks this awards season. So far this awards season in terms of wishes I’ve gone with Elie Saab and Jason Wu for Viola. I have all gone for color moments and I am not slowing that down now. I would love to see Viola pull out this baby pink strapless LBV Spring 2021 RTW column gown with a cowl detailed sweetheart neckline. LBV is a new line for the designer Elizabeth Kennedy who was a red carpet powerhouse for a hot second and I want to see this line get all kinds of red carpet love. The silhouette of this gown is definitely something that Viola has been drawn to in the past. A full afro style, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a money green and pink Judith Leiber Couture x Ashley Longshore ‘I’ll Pick Up The Tab’ crystal embellished minaudiere, a pair of metallic baby pink Gianvito Rossi strappy ankle strap sandals, and a selection of David Morris white and pink diamond jewels including a pair of teardrop earrings and a statement collar necklace would add the perfect finishing touches to this look.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

We got really great news yesterday. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the body that presents the Golden Globe Awards, put out a request that presenters are being asked to appear live and in person at either the Beverly Hilton in LA or the Rainbow Room in New York. Now while the presenters will appear live it is reported that nominees will still appear remotely. I wonder how this will work. Usually nominees are among the list of presenters at the event and I am really interested in seeing what will come from this years red carpet. In today’s wishes we have nominees across film and television this year, for those nominated for their work in front and behind the cameras, and a legend who will be honored. Each of these wishes are definitely phenomenal moments I would absolutely adore seeing each look brought to life. Amanda Seyfried earned her first Golden Globe Award nomination this year for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture thanks to her performance in Mank. I have always loved seeing Amanda on the red carpet and I would love to see her bring the glamour and drama to the red carpet be it in person or remote. I adore this rose pink Elie Saab Fall 2020 Couture one shoulder draped gown which features a dramatic rosette shoulder detail, cape sash, belted waist, and a thigh high split. It is a very feminine approach to dramatic glamour and I know it would be something that Amanda would definitely be drawn to. With a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, deep raspberry pink lips, a pair of nude pink Aquazzura ‘Celeste 105’ crystal-knot grosgrain sandals, and dazzling Cartier High Jewelry white diamond, pink sapphire, opal, and amethyst drop earrings I know that this look would be perfection from head to toe giving Amanda an absolutely glamorous moment. Her role as polarizing conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly in Mrs. America has earned Cate Blanchett her 11th Golden Globe nomination. In the last year Cate has really put forward in her initiative to wear and rewear items in her closet. We saw this on display most recently when Cate rewore looks from Armani, Esteban Cortezar, and Alexander McQueen during her times as the jury president at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. I wonder if that will be the case should we see her take part in this years Golden Globe Awards telecast. If she does I would absolutely adore seeing Cate pull out the black velvet Armani Prive gown with white ostrich feather cape that she first wore to the 2018 Venice Film Festival premiere of A Star Is Born. I have always felt that gown is the epitome of classic glamour and Cate would definitely be able to sell it to me again. Now If she chose to wear something we haven’t seen her wear I still went into the archives to pick a “vintage” gown for her with this black crepe and velvet long sleeve column gown from the Armani Prive Fall 2008 Couture collection which features a plunging neckline, crystal embellishment at the hip, and a faux wrap style. This gown isn’t statement making, but is another fine example of incredible classic glamour. Now both gowns I would style the same way; with a sleek retro glam updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black beaded lace Aquazzura ‘Bow Tie 105’ pointed toe pumps, and dazzling Tiffany & Co. ‘Schlumberger® Star and Moon’ earrings in platinum with round sapphires of over 10 total carats and round brilliant diamonds. Since 1962 Jane Fonda has been nominated for 15 Golden Globe Awards and has won seven. This year the icon will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award. This award is given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Associations Board of Governors for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment”. We can definitely say that Jane has done that from her role in Barbarella to Grace and Frankie. She has been a force on the screen for almost sixty years. I am very interested in what Jane may wear for this occasion. She made a big deal last year at the Oscars re-wearing a ruby red crystal embellished Elie Saab Couture gown first worn in Cannes with a coat that she touted as the last piece of clothing she would ever buy. So I would imagine that Jane will most likely bring something out of her closet to accept this years award. When I was looking at what Jane has worn on red carpets in recent years I thought it would be perfect for her to accept this years DeMille award wearing this electric blue customized Atelier Versace long sleeve fit to flare dress with an asymmetrical neckline, nude illusion cutout details, and a sweeping train (seen above left) that she first wore to the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. It was one of my favorite looks that year I can definitely see myself loving it yet again should she wear it this year, especially switching up the styling with her grey hair in a sleek side parted style, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of electric blue Alexandre Vauthier ‘ANEPUMPBLUE’ metallic leather crystal trimmed and PVC pointed toe d’Orsay pumps, and a bit of sparkle via Chopard ‘Precious’ collection white diamond and sapphire chandelier earrings. Now I also thought that picking something vintage borrowed from a designers archive would be allowed under Jane’s activist stance on clothing. If it is I would absolutely love to see Jane dig in the Valentino archives and snatch out this red long sleeve column gown which features a high neck and an ostrich feather trimmed hem from the Valentino Fall 2001 RTW collection. There haven’t been many who have been able to get into the archives and wear Valentino by Mr. Valentino himself, but I would definitely love to see Jane bring this gown out of the archive and onto the red carpet. Now for the Valentino dress I would love to see it styled with Jane’s signature hairstyle, defined eyes, glossy pink lips, a pair of red crystal embellished satin Rene Caovilla pointed toe pumps, and simple Chopard ‘Precious’ collection white diamond scalloped cluster earrings. Which ever route she chooses I am very excited to see what she will wear. One Night in Miami star Leslie Odom Jr. is one of my men to watch this awards season. While promoting the film from home we have seen him wearing classic menswear looks with a twist from labels like Etro and Moschino. So I am very much intrigued to see what the actor who earned his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture thanks to his portrayal of Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami will wear for December. So I was looking for a cool look and fell in love with the idea of Leslie wearing this navy blue textured two button Dzojchen Spring 2021 tuxedo. I love the simple twist on the classic cut and feel like it would definitely be a great choice for him. Now I go back and forth if I want to see Leslie wear the matching trousers with this look for the Globes. I am leaning towards no and going a little more classic with custom solid navy tuxedo trousers with the satin stripe down the side finishing the look with a crisp white shirt, navy satin bow tie, a pair of black patent leather Tom Ford ‘Gianni’ lace-up oxfords, and a midnight blue Montblanc ‘1858 Geosphere’ watch. Regina King is once again nominated for a Golden Globe this year after winning two years ago. This year she is nominated for Best Director for her feature film directorial debut One Night In Miami. We’ve already had a major red carpet at the Venice Film Festival stolen from us. She is very much in contention to take home this trophy so I would definitely want to see Regina give us a major glamour moment. I found that in this orchid purple Antonio Grimaldi Spring 2021 Couture on shoulder gown which features a single blouson sleeve, defined waist, column git, and a sweeping train. I adore when Regina gives us bold color moments and I can just imagine this gown being a major moment on her. This gown would hug all of Regina’s curves. With a sleek updo, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of rich fuschia purple Aquazzura ‘Tequila 105’ strappy crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a selection of jewels from Vanleles including round, marquise, & pear shaped white diamond ‘Bridal Cuff’ hoop wreath earrings and a white diamond ‘Legends of Africa Iconic’ diamond ring we would definitely have a major glamour moment on our hands.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years event here.
