2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

After picking 4 looks for Amy Poehler yesterday I have four more wishes for the other hostess of the 2021 Golden Globe Awards today. I am very much intrigued to see how this years show will work. Tina Fey will join the awards broadcast from the Rainbow Room in New York while Amy is in the ballroom at the Beverly Hilton in LA. Of the two hosts Tina definitely has more fashion chops. She has taken the stage at the Globes as hostess in the past in looks from L’Wren Scott, Carolina Herrera, & Antonio Berardi in years past. While I would imagine that will be the case once again this year I have 4 looks from different designers in today’s wish that would be phenomenal on Tina. The first look I’ve picked for Tina is definitely the most “Tina” of all of my picks. She loves a black dress and when I was looking at options I was really intrigued by the thought of her wearing this black crystal embellished horsehair Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture strapless a-line ball gown which features a tiered skirt. I feel like this gown is classically elegant and it would be an outstanding option for Tina to wear on the “red carpet.” Now on the runway this gown was styled with a beaded belt. I would leave it on the rack for Tina as I feel like it would just cut off Tina’s torso. A simple side parted updo, defined eyes, rose pink glossy lips, a black Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ glitter medley plexi clutch, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Liu 100’ mesh paneled ankle strap peep toe half d’Orsay sandals, and a STATEMENT Cartier High Jewelry white diamond collar necklace would all make this a super glamorous moment for Tina to kick off the evening.  Now for my wishes for the actual show wardrobe. My first wardrobe change for Tina digs deep into the Ralph Lauren archives. I absolutely adore this sexy and glamorous red sequin spaghetti strap slip dress from the Ralph Lauren Fall 1995 RTW collection and I feel like Tina would look phenomenal in this look. She has worn silhouette’s like this in the past and has always looked great. I love the classic glamour of this look and I believe that with the same beauty as the Armani gown adding a pair of red Alexandre Vauthier ‘Aoki 100’ pointed toe ankle strap pumps and a pair of Cartier High Jewelry white diamond and ruby scalloped cluster earrings would make this a very chic moment for Tina.

Now I decided that I wanted to see Tina really give us some major color moments while hosting the 2021 Golden Globe Awards. The next look I would love to see Tina wear is this bold emerald green Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2021 button detailed long sleeve jersey maxi dress which features a plunging neckline, faux wrap style, and sunburst pleating. It is the “newest” of all the looks I’ve picked for Tina and the color would be fantastic on her. I will say that I was surprised to see that this gown was Elie Saab as it does have a much of the same design as we usually see from Balmain commercial designs. It would be such a strong and sexy moment from Tina with classic old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, glossy nude pink lips, beige glitter and mesh Christian Louboutin ‘Follies 85’ crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, and a pair of geometric Cartier High Jewelry white diamond and emerald drop earrings.

My final pick for Tina is yet another phenomenal archive gown. I was first reminded of the glamour of this white crystal embellished halter gown from the Michael Kors Fall 2005 RTW collection last year as I was researching for my Met Gala wishes. I cannot recall anyone wearing this look before and I believe that this glamorous moment deserves to finally be given a red carpet moment. I feel like it would be a perfect look for Tina and a dazzling moment for the Golden Globe Awards telecast especially with a pair of white Aquazzura ‘Bow Tie’ crystal embellished pointed toe pumps, a chic side parted updo, defined eyes, glossy pink lips, and circular Cartier High Jewelry ‘Faune et Flore de Cartier’ white diamond drop earrings.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years event here.

Dream Inaugural Ball for President Joe Biden Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

In this fraught environment I have to say that writing my wishes has been getting me through. I started officially planning my wishes for my dream inaugural ball since the day of the siege on the Capitol. Fashion has always been a bit of escapism for me and that is exactly what we need right now. There might not be fancy balls with star studded guest lists that will happen, but I am going to continue to dream about which looks we might have seen some of the a-list supporters of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. In the looks below you are going to find looks mostly from American designers and one super glamorous blue couture gown. Billy Porter always serves looks so I would have loved to see him bring a major fashion moment to the inaugural festivities this year. Just recently I was flipping through the Christian Siriano Pre-Fall 2021 collection and the moment i saw this ivory suit ensemble embroidered with 3-D eye appliques and features a cropped tailcoat with the tails turning into a train I immediately thought of Billy. Is this look anything we would expect to see at a presidential inaugural ball? Oh hell no. But as I’ve said menswear in Washington, DC needs a shake up and this look would definitely do that. Of course the look would need to be customized for Billy to fit his proportions. To finish out this look I would add a black button down dress shirt and a pair of black Rock Owens slip on platform chunky heel boots (a favorite of Billy) to make sure this look screams individuality. In a virtual campaign event Jennifer Lopez, and fiance Alex Rodriguez, sat down with Joe Biden to talk about the importance of voting, especially Latinos. She will also be performing at the Inaugural Ceremony. So yes I had to make sure she was included in my wishes for what could have been a dream inaugural ball. I decided to break away from American designers for Jennifer as she just needs a little bit more razzle dazzle. So I picked this blue metallic silk one shoulder Elie Saab Fall 2016 Couture gown with some intricate beaded embroidery and a thigh high split, I also picked a major Elie Saab gown for her to wear for her performance at the Inaugural Ceremony as well. It is inherrantly the sexy glam vibe that Jennifer always brings to a red carpet and I just know that she would have shut down the look down on a red carpet for an inaugural ball. Styled with old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, smokey eyes, glossy ruby red lips, a navy crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Rectangle’ clutch, silver crystal studded PVC Aquazzura ‘Dream 105’ ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Harry Winston jewels including white diamond and emerald cut sapphire drop earrings and a white diamond and sapphire ‘Crisscross’ ring I know this would have been a glamorous moment from head to toe. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is the final hostess from the 2020 Democratic National Convention whom I wanted to include in my wishes for a dream inaugural ball. (The others are Eva Longoria, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Kerry Washington). Out of the four Julia is my least favorite in terms of style. While her style isn’t bad it is just boring typically. That being said I knew almost immediately what gown I was going to use for Julia’s wish. This simple oyster pink silk Brandon Maxwell Spring 2021 RTW strapless column gown with a thin bright orange bow detailed belt is super chic and I feel like it would have been a perfect moment for Julia to wear for an inaugural ball. Simple waves, defined eyes, soft pink lips, an orange Edie Parker ‘Jean’ marbled-effect acrylic box clutch, champagne Christian Louboutin ‘Galativi 85’ crystal embellished and mesh paneled pointed toe pumps, and one-of-a-kind Irene Neuwirth 18k rose gold set pink opal, fire opal, and white diamond pendant drop earrings would definitely make this look incredibly chic and just the right amount of statement making for Julia. Okay here we go. My wish for Lizzo is one of my favorite of all my wishes for what could have been at the inaugural balls for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Since she really burst onto the scene at the end of last year Lizzo has been encouraging her fans to get out and vote! From Tik Tok and the stage at the Billboard Music Awards to virtual events for the campaign she was really pushing people to do their civic duty; so under normal circumstances I would have been shocked not to see Lizzo in Washington DC for inaugural events. As I was looking for wishes I knew I wanted to use this red satin strapless Oscar de la Renta Fall 2020 RTW gown which features a fitted bodice, drop waist, and an asymmetric high low bubble hem and when I thought of Lizzo wearing the gown my heart started to race. It isn’t something we’ve see Lizzo wear before, but I feel like the dramatic glamour is definitely something she would be able to sell with ease. I would style the look with a vintage inspired updo, defined smokey eyes, bold deep red glossy lips, a red crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Hot Lips’ minaudiere, a pair of red crystal embellished Amina Muaddi ‘Karma’ pointed to slingback ankle strap pumps, and Butani jewels including ‘Hypnotic” ruby and diamond wreath hoop earrings and a selection of ruby and diamond bracelets to finish it off in high glam style. “Party in the USA” the hit song by Miley Cyrus made a return to the iTunes charts back in November 2020 thanks to the election of Joe Biden. Miley herself shared a video of Biden and Kamala Harris dancing with the song edited in, and captioned it, “Now THIS is a PARTY IN THE USA!” In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Miley said that she would love to perform at the inauguration. Well as of now I haven’t heard anything about her performing at the ceremony, but had she gone to Washington for the inaugural events I would have loved to see her do so in her full glam grunge vibe that she has been rocking. I wanted to put Miley in Marc Jacobs, but decided instead of going for something current that I would dive deep into the brands archives. When I saw this black chiffon and sequined slip style dress from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2006 RTW collection I knew I had found the right look. It is the perfect balance of grunge and glamour and I feel like it would have definitely been a superb moment for Miley to wear for an inaugural ball, especially if styled with her signature mullet, thick smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black patent leather Christian Louboutin ‘Double L’ strappy sandals, and white diamond Yeprem ‘Inside Out’ double hoop earcuffs. Talking about “Party in the USA” Selena Gomez danced to Miley’s hit song on Instagram Stories after the race was called. Selena has been a voice to make sure you are registered to vote and specifically encouraging Latina’s to use their voices in the electoral process. So yes I would have loved to see her take on Washington DC for an inaugural ball especially if she did it wearing this burgundy jersey Ralph Lauren Fall 2005 RTW criss-cross halter gown. I adore this super chic and glamorous moment and I know that Selena would definitely make it a super chic moment. A sleek updo, defined eyes, burgundy lips, a gold Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ python embossed clutch, burgundy suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino 85’ ankle strap sandals, and a selection of major Messika x Kate Moss 18k gold set jewels including a pair of broken hoop white diamond earrings with baguette cut drops and an art deco inspired white diamond ring. Rounding out today is a super chic look for Taylor Swift who has been using her voice in politics for the last couple of years. I just always love seeing Taylor so after seeing her really using her voice to encourage people to vote I would have loved to see her in DC for the inaugural events. I went with classic glamour with this pool blue silk chiffon Monique Lhuillier asymmetric draped gown with a thigh high split. It isn’t anything boundary pushing, but I definitely think that for gliding around the room shaking hands (a novel thought isn’t it) and schmoozing that this is a great look for Taylor. A soft romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver strappy Jimmy Choo ‘Lilah’ metallic leather sandals, and simple yet glamorous art deco inspired Tiffany & Co. aquamarine and white diamond drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to make this look super glam for Taylor.

Dream Inaugural Ball for President Joe Biden Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, due to COVID-19 the standard Inaugural Balls held on the night the President of the United States is sworn into office have been cancelled. Well. Since we have to continue to dream I am going to still put wishes out into the universe for those who definitely would have and who I would have liked to see attend the balls. Over the next couple of days I will be mixing political figures with stars who were part of the Joe Biden campaign to show you some of the looks I would have loved to see them bring to life for my dream inaugural ball. Today’s looks are all about glamour, elegance, but most importantly American based design labels. As I said yesterday I feel like First Lady Dr. Jill Biden is secretly a real fashion girl and I cannot wait to see what she will be wearing for her FLOTUS duties over the next four years. I would have loved to see Dr. Biden step out onto the stage with President Biden wearing this black Carolina Herrera Spring 2021 RTW stretch fluid crepe trumpet gown which features a sleeveless fitted bodice detailed with bows and a dramatic hem. It is a super glamorous moment and I definitely believe that Dr. Biden would look phenomenal. It is a very Audrey Hepburn moment and I think that styled with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes bold red lips, a pair of black sheer embellished lace Jimmy Choo ‘Love 100’ pointed toe pumps, and simple yet dazzling Harry Winston white diamond and blue sapphire drop earrings that Dr. Biden would definitely have had a winning fashion moment on her hands. For the Vice President Kamala Harris I wanted to play to a couple of different sensibilities. When it comes to dressing Kamala is very matronly for sure. There are people out there that prove that you can be modest and dress “age appropriate” and still embrace the fashion factor. I wanted to play to Kamala’s heritage paying homage to her black and Indian roots with her inaugural ball ensemble. So I turned to a black designer to create the gown which is this bold violet purple silk Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 RTW collection draped long sleeve gown which features a dramatic sash cape. The sash cape gave me a bit of sari vibe and I just feel like this color on Kamala would be amazing. Now where this look would really come together is in the styling. This gown has the possibility to feel very matronly, but with the right styling it would be super chic. A soft updo, defined smokey eyes, dark red glossy lips, purple satin Tom Ford pointed toe pumps, and a nod to her famous pearls with dazzling white diamond and pearl ‘Princess Fantasy’ chandelier earrings from Indian jewelry designer Farah Khan would definitely make this look absolutely PHENOMENAL from head to toe. Pete Buttigieg is Joe Biden’s nominee to be the next Secretary of Transportation and I personally love him. So I felt like I had to include him and his husband Chasten in my wishes for what the inaugural ball could have been. While they might be gay neither Pete nor Chasten are what I would consider to be ‘flashy.’ So I wanted to pick two very chic complimentary looks for them to wear had they attended the inaugural ball. For Chasten I went with something a little left of normal picking a Ralph Lauren tuxedo with a deep purple velvet tuxedo jacket. It isn’t something normal, but I feel like Washington needs some fun infused into their stuffy style. It would stand out in a room full of men in classic black and white penguin suits, but the cut and styling would be kept very classic so I definitely think it would be a perfect look, especially as the plus one of a Cabinet Secretary designate. Now for Pete I went with something a little more classic with a black Ralph Lauren tuxedo that has a cropped jacket inspired by the cut of a tailcoat, without the tails. The look keeps the classic tail coat styling of the low cut waistcoat and the onyx shirt studs. It is a little more military-esque but I feel like it would be a really chic moment for Pete. I cannot remember ever seeing a former First Lady attend the inaugural ball of a new president, but given the fact that I adore seeing Michelle Obama in a gown I knew I had to include her in my dream guest list for an inaugural ball. I always loved seeing what gowns she would bring to life and I went through several options for her to wear for this event. I decided to finish on this black Oscar de la Renta Resort 2021 strapless column gown which features a draped rosette detail down the back. It is a very chic and elegant moment and I know that Michelle would wear it with elegance and ease. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, glossy ruby red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Galativi’ crystal trimmed and mesh paneled pointed toe pumps, and a statement Bulgari ‘Barroko’ Collection white diamond and emerald high jewelry collar necklace. The necklace is definitely a bit more than we are seeing, but I think it would be the perfect touch to really make this moment major. Eva Longoria was one of the hosts of the 2020 Democratic National Convention and was out on the campaign trail even in spite of the pandemic to support Joe Biden. She will also participate in a prime time inauguration concert special the night of the inauguration, so it would have come as a real surprise to not see her at one of the inaugural balls had this been a normal year. I haven’t loved a look that Eva has worn in a really long time and I would have wanted to see that dramatic diva side of her style on display had she stepped out for a ball. Marchesa was once a go to designer for Eva and I feel like it is time for her to make a return to the brand. I immediately thought of this hand painted pink and white peony print silk Marchesa Spring 2021 RTW one shoulder draped gown which features a relaxed fit, fitted bodice, and a dramatic train detail and know that it would be perfect for Eva especially if styled with a romantic updo, soft smokey eyes, matte rose pink lips,  metallic pink and gold Roger Vivier ‘Vivier Queen Strass’ strappy sandals, and a pair of statement Anabela Chan fuchsia ombre waterfall earrings made of pale rose sapphire, fuchsia pink sapphires, rose tourmalines, and white diamonds.Mindy Kaling did a couple of virtual events for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris over the course of the campaign. Upon the announcement of Kamala Harris as the VP selections Mindy tweeted “Was there ever more of an exciting day? For our entire country of course, but especially for my Black and Indian sisters, many of us who have gone our entire lives thinking that someone who looks like us may never hold high office? We work so hard and contribute to the fabric of our lives in America, & now to see @SenKamalaHarris rise to the top like this? It’s thrilling!! I am filled with hope and excitement. Thank you @JoeBiden. Let’s do this.” So I really would have loved to see her attend one of the inaugural balls. I went with one of my favorite color combos with this red Badgley Mischka Spring 2021 RTW column gown with hot pink puffy sleeves and an intricately pleated bodice and a sweetheart neckline. Mindy has always been one to love bringing color to her looks and I definitely can imagine this being a superb moment. A sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a red satin Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ faceted clutch, a pair of red suede Aquazzura ‘Aria 105’ strappy pointed toe pumps, and some statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including white diamond and ruby paisley inspired drop earrings and a dazzling white diamond and ruby cuff bracelet watch would make sure that Mindy had a phenomenal moment on her hands.

2020 Democratic National Convention Red Carpet Wish List

A lot of people say fashion isn’t and shouldn’t be political. I say they are dead wrong. I’ve honestly missed writing about fashion as it relates to American politics. I’ve had a blackout on the Trump administration because I fervently disagree with the administrations policies. So now that we are into campaign season I am getting excited. From Michelle Obama launching careers of young designers to Barack Obama’s biggest scandal being the tan suit the Obama white house was full of fashion moments. I don’t expect that if Joe Biden and Kamala Harris win the 2020 Presidential Election that they would come close to rivaling the Obama’s, but I definitely think that I will be watching. The 2020 Democratic National Convention, the official kickoff of the final stretch to election day starts tonight and over the next several nights we will see the biggest names in Democratic politics gather around the country virtually to rally their support behind former Vice President Joe Biden and his running mate Senator Kamala Harris. So let’s talk about some of the looks I would like to see worn for some of the speeches that will be given. Starting the list is Senator Kamala Harris, the nominee for Vice President of the United States. She will deliver the Keynote speech on Wednesday to officially accept the nomination for Vice President. I’ve followed Kamala for a while now, but not because of her fashion. So when the announcement came down I did a bit of a dive into what she’s worn for events and as a senator in the Capital to shape what I would love to see her wear. She loves a pantsuit so of course for the speech to accept the nomination I found an amazing pantsuit for Kamala. I love the cut of this grey Altuzarra Fall 2020 RTW melange wool blend suit which feature a wide lapel double breasted blazer and a pair of wide leg pants. It is an interesting take on the classic pantsuit and I feel like it is easily something Kamala would wear. For the speech I would style the look with her signature soft curls, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a teal blue peony watercolor floral print Altuzarra silk button down shirt, a pair of black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Love 100’ pointed toe pumps, and her signature pearl earrings. Now typically on the final night of the convention after the presidential nominee gives their acceptance speech the VP nominee and the families come out and greet the crowd to a balloon drop and explosion of confetti. Due to COVID-19 we know that there will be no crowd. We don’t know what the speeches will look like yet, but I am really interested to see if Kamala will come out and join Joe Biden at the end of the convention. If she does I would like to see her step onto the stage wearing this royal blue Carolina Herrera Resort 2021 long sleeve crepe midi dress which features a draped skirt and a crew neckline. It isn’t often we see Kamala wearing a dress, but I feel like this one is perfect for her. Her signature curls, defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, those signature pearls, and black Christian Louboutin ‘Brandina’ croc stamped calfskin leather asymmetrical sling back pointed toe pumps would put the perfect finishing touches on this look for Kamala. It would make sure the official kick off is done in style. Fashion isn’t what I associate with Dr. Jill Biden. She isn’t a high fashion political spouse, but she always gives us very chic and elegant looks for both more casual and more formal events. I would love to see Dr. Biden wearing two super chic looks for the 2020 Democratic National Convention. For her speech tomorrow night as the potential next First Lady I knew immediately who I would love to see dress Dr. Biden. I feel like she is perfectly slated for Oscar de la Renta and when I saw this azure blue Oscar de la Renta sleeveless midi dress which features an overlay neckline and a flared hem I knew I had found the perfect look for Dr. Biden’s speech. It is a chic off the rack moment and fitting for a future First Lady. Her signature waves, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of ballet pink suede and patent leather Jimmy Choo ‘Ray’ mid heel slingback pointed toe pumps would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Now for the final night to join Joe on the stage after his speech (hopefully to a hail of balloons and confetti) I went with another off the rack look. I imagine Joe will wear a blue suit that I would love to see styled with a red tie, so to compliment the blue Carolina Herrera dress I picked for Kamala and that suit for Joe I would love to see Dr. Biden wear this white Lauren Ralph Lauren faux-wrap knee length dress which features a v-neck and a barely cap sleeves. It would make a perfect trio of looks especially if styled with her signature waves, defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of white lace Gianvito Rossi ‘Liliane’ pointed toe pumps. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to be speaking tomorrow night as well. She has become a huge star since upsetting her district’s long held congressman. She gives major style moments. What I love about her is that she does stay accessible with her fashion. “Get used to me slaying lewks because I am an excellent thrift shopper” AOC has said. When I was looking for the perfect look for her to wear on the stage, wherever it may be, to deliver her DNC speech I knew it had to be accessible. So I went shopping on the virtual racks of Macys.com. Specifically the sale racks. I fell in love with the idea of seeing AOC wearing this black DKNY sleeveless a-line knee length dress which features an electric blue asymmetrical pleated panel immediately. Then I saw the $45.13 price tag and I knew it was perfect. She does live her life to what she talks and  appreciate that. Now I have seen her rock a really good shoe, so I went a little higher end with the shoes picking a pair of electric blue Alexander Wang ‘Rie’ silver studded pointed toe pumps. They are on the pricey side at $360 even at 40% off, but shoes are gold. To finish this look I would love to see her style the look with a sleek bun updo, defined eyes, red lips, and stud earrings. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will take the virtual stage for the DNC tonight. I always love seeing Michelle because she LOVES to play with fashion. I would love to see her give us a bold fashion moment tonight so I picked this marigold yellow Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 RTW draped dress which features batteau neckline, long bell sleeves, gathered detail on the waist, and a side split. It is a bit of a political statement not because of color, but because it is a black designer and a rising star. I would love to see Michelle really go for it with this look styling it with a chic wavy bob, defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of metallic yellow gold Schutz ‘Sol’ ribbed detail slingback pointed toe pumps, and Mateo NY 14k gold set baroque pearl drop earrings. It would make for a statement fashion moment for Michelle. In addition to all of the political leaders speaking at the convention the DNC will also have a line up of musical acts that rivals what the VMA’s have already announced. Queer icon and Broadway star Billy Porter is among those who have been announced to perform at this years Democratic Convention. I always love seeing Billy as he serves a look no matter if hes walking a red carpet or joining an interview via Zoom. While I went pretty conservative with the looks I picked for the speakers I’ve picked some real FASHION moments for the performers starting with this major yee-haw meets glam grunge red, white, and blue Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 RTW ensemble for Billy Porter. Billy recently covered Buffalo Springfield’s 1967 protest anthem “For What It’s Worth.” I’m betting that he will be joining Stephen Stills who originally wrote and sang that protest anthem. It would be a great moment. I feel like this now archive fashion moment I would love to see Billy pull it out of the archive and bring it to life. Common & John Legend are also going to be performing at the 202 DNC. Now it isn’t confirmed that they are going to perform together, but I would imagine that they will be performing their Oscar and Grammy Award winning song “Glory” from Selma. I decided not to include John this time because of sheer time cuts (I also wasn’t able to include Billie Eilish, Prince Royce, The Chicks, and more it really will be a star studded event) but I wanted to include Common. I’ve always loved seeing she sharp dressed rapper on the red carpet. I love that he isn’t afraid of color or pattern. I gave him that for my wish thanks to this Dzojchen blue and white basket weave single breasted suit with matching shirt. It is a statement suit for sure and I definitely can picture it being something Common would be drawn to. Style it with a pair of black calfskin leather Christian Louboutin ‘Dr Jack’ side laced oxfords to make the look perfect. Vocal powerhouse Jennifer Hudson will also will be performing and I honestly wish I could pick one song to zero in on. She could give us Aretha Franklin performing some of the Queen of Soul’s protest anthems like “Respect,” “A Change Is Gonna Come,” or “People Get Ready” or she could perform her Oscar nominated song “I’ll Fight” from the documentary “RBG.” I’m leaning towards her performing Aretha since she does have the movie where she stars as the late Soul icon. I picked my look for her with Aretha in mind. I LOVE this ice blue sequin Prabal Gurung Resort 2020 one shoulder ruffle gown which features ostrich feather trim and a hip high split. I can imagine Jennifer giving us full 60’s inspired glam wearing this gown with an avant garde twist updo, thick winged eyes, deep red glossy lips, a pair of silver Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Sophie’ metallic leather slingback sandals, and dazzling Hueb ‘Botanica’ white diamond and aquamarine cluster earrings. It would be a major fashion moment for sure. I can say I’m not exactly sure what Maggie Rogers will be performing at the 2020 Democratic Convention. She is one of the few who I’ve actually seen on the official schedule. She will perform tonight before speeches by Senator Bernie Sanders and former First Lady Michelle Obama. With her voice she could perform patriotic standards like “This Land Is Your Land” or “America The Beautiful.” While I don’t know what she will be performing I know I would love to see her rock her performance wearing this Carolina Herrera Fall 2020 RTW ensemble which features a rounded sleeve with ribbon tied cuffs electric blue tunic with a black rose pattern embroidered it paired with periwinkle blue straight leg pants. It is a meshing of oversized, femininity, and tailoring and I feel that is something that Maggie is drawn to in her looks. Styling it with a loose updo, barely there makeup, and white black Roger Vivier ‘Texan Sabot’ crystal buckle detailed cowboy boot inspired mules would definitely make this a super cool look for Maggie.

The 2020 Democratic National Convention will run today Monday August 17, 2020 through Thursday August 20, 2020.

50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER Part 7

Today we continue with my 50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER list. I did my research. The looks in this list are all based on looks that stars wore on red carpets all over the world. Now while some might think of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Katherine Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, and Twiggy when they think of iconic fashion moments. That is true, but you won’t find any of them on these lists. If you’re ready to ask me why I have an answer. Mostly their iconic fashion moments all were created for them by the costume designers contracted by the studios they worked for. I wanted to include only the looks that weren’t planned in conjunction with the studio for their impact. They might have been pulled together by high paid stylist, but not in a way that a studio would craft a look for their star based on the image they wanted them to have. Now this look is only ranked from the oldest to the newest and not based on how iconic I think that the look is. So let’s get into it.31) Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards: Regular readers of If I Was A Stylist may be SHOCKED that I’ve only included one look from my red carpet queen in my ICONIC Red Carpet Looks list. I love Cate, but she doesn’t necessarily push boundaries of fashion. She always delivers glamour. I loved this black lace Armani Prive moment as soon as I saw it. Again it was classic glamour done perfectly to kick off her winning awards season for Blue Jasmine. What I think made this specific gown iconic is the fact that Cate decided to re-use this gown four years later as the gown she wore to the 2018 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony the year she served as the festival jury president. I loved it the first time and while I was initially disappointed she decided to recycle for the opening ceremony I applauded the Eco-Chicness of the option. It was the first time we had seen a major star recycle a major red carpet look for the red carpet and it sparked conversations about Eco-Glam. 32) Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards: While Lupita Nyong’o had worn all of the major labels and major couture creations while premiering and promoting 12 Years A Slave from the films debut at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival her real “I’ve arrived” fashion moment was this red Ralph Lauren caped gown at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. I remember Lupita was the first star to show up. She was giddy and she knew she looked beautiful. This super sleek moment was modern and dramatic all rolled into one major moment. I had high expectations for her to shut down the red carpet come awards season and she kicked it off in the best way possible. 33) Rihanna in Adam Selman at the 2014 CFDA Awards: I mean it makes sense that given the fact that at the 2014 CFDA Awards Rihanna received the Fashion Icon Award and the look she wore on the red carpet to accept the award made this list. The crazy thing to me is that I didn’t include any of her looks prior to 2014 in this list. Honestly when I was building this list there were a lot of Rihanna looks in contention, but I had to weigh against other moments. I ultimately decided that this nude crystal encrusted Adam Selman gown scoop neck gown with a matching durag, and powder pink fur stole evoked a modern idea of Josephine Baker. This is gown is far from the first “Naked Dress” but it is the most successful iteration of the trend of dresses I sometimes wish would go away. If anyone could make me love this look it is Rihanna. 34) Lily Collins in Elie Saab Couture at the 2014 Rome Film Festival: A gown that spawned a thousand copies. If you go to any online evening wear store even now you will find some iteration of this dramatically glamorous Elie Saab Couture strapless hand painted ombre gown that Lily Collins wore to the 2014 Rome Film Festival. This look is super glamorous and elegant, but it really is the consumer aspect of this gown that to me makes it an ICONIC moment. 35) Emma Stone in Christian Dior Couture by Raf Simons at the 2015 SAG Awards: This awards season Emma Stone was making the rounds promoting Birdman. She spent most of the season wearing looks that were menswear inspired. Many will say that her Lanvin jumpsuit at the Golden Globes was more iconic, but personally I thought this custom black tuxedo inspired Christian Dior Couture by Raf Simons was so much better. It was sleek, sheer, powerful, and sexy all rolled into one dramatic package. The gown itself was perfection all on it’s own, but with the sleek updo, perfect makeup, and the asymmetric earrings I really fell in love with this look and it narrowly missed out on my 2015 Best Dressed of the Year list.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 40

Well we have made it to my final set of wishes for the 2020 Met Gala. I have been really excited about all of these wishes, but today is extra special. When I had originally planned all of my archive fashion moments for this years Met Gala red carpets I decided that my final wish list was going to be nothing but archive runway moments I want to see on this years red carpet. I feel like archive moments are perfect to honor the theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration.” What better way to honor the idea of fashion enduring than bringing something that was first presented 15+ years ago and make it fresh and modern for today’s red carpet. So the five looks that close out all of my #MetGala wishes are some of my favorite. It was really just over a year ago when Cardi B wore 3 archive couture Thierry Mugler looks for the Grammy Awards that we started seeing more and more archive Mugler moments on the red carpet. At last years Met Gala it was Kim Kardashian who blessed the red carpet wearing archive Mugler. This year I thought that after Dua Lipa snatched a look right off the Mugler Fall 2020 RTW runway for the Global Awards that she would be the perfect person to bring an archive moment from the label to the Met Gala red carpet this year. I found this pearlescent white strapless ballgown from the Thierry Mugler Fall 1999 Couture collection which features a fitted pencil gown, pointed hips, and a dramatic bustle train and fell in love. I was looking for something gorgeous for Dua and this gown which to me hearkens to the hay day of the New Look, but in space seemed to click perfectly. It is the best of classic glamour mixed with the best of the Mugler aesthetic. Knowing that Dua can handle a big gown on the red carpet makes me know she would be able to shut the Met Gala red carpet down wearing this gown. A sleek bun updo, defined eyes, burgundy lips, a pair of iridescent silver Christian Louboutin ‘Spikaqueen’ PVC detail crystal embellished ankle strap pointed toe pumps, and a statement white diamond Messika High Jewelry ‘Beloved Feather’ asymmetrical collar necklace would add the perfect finishing touches to this look.I was looking at the Pierre Cardin archives because I remembered a major archive moment Naomi Campbell wore for a royal fashion event back in 2018. It made me want to dig further into the archives and pick something major this years Met Gala red carpet. I wasn’t really looking at the archive with the idea of anyone specific in mind, but just looking at moments. When I saw this brick red sequin column gown which features 3/4 length sleeve with satin bow details on the cuff I thought immediately of Julianne Moore and I knew I had found the perfect archive moment. Julianne knows how to bring structured drama to the red carpet and I feel like the color of this gown against her skin and hair would just turn me into the heart eye emoji especially if styled with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, an antique gold Gianvito Rossi ‘Bella’ clutch, black and gold Gianvito Rossi ‘Olga’ ankle strap d’Orsay sandals, and a pair of pink gold Bulgari ‘Diva’s Dream’ white diamond detailed chandelier earrings.Kaitlyn Dever was an ambassador for sustainable fashion during Oscar weekend this year. She wore several vintage couture gowns that her stylist Karla Welch pulled from online vintage hot spot Shrimpton Couture and then a custom eco-responsible silk custom Louis Vuitton gown. Now while last year Kaitlyn tweeted “While all y’all are at the met gala, I’m at home playing #uncharted4 with pops.” I am hoping to see her on this years Met Gala red carpet and I decided to go vintage for her to wear for this red carpet as well. I saw this black silk taffeta one shoulder bustle ball gown from the Pierre Balmain by Oscar de la Renta Fall 2000 Couture collection and immediately thought of Kaitlyn. This gown is a dramatic classic, which is perfect to compliment this years theme. A sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘I Love Vivier’ pointed toe pumps, and a statement Bulgari High Jewelry  ‘Cinemagia’ collection necklace with rubellite, sapphire, emerald, diamonds and chalcedony in white gold would make sure that Kaitlyn’s Met Gala debut is head to toe perfection. I only picked two Michael Kors looks for this years Met Gala red carpet. The first was the customized Fall 2020 gown I picked for Hilary Swank. The second is diving into the Michael Kors archives for Naomie Harris. Over the years Naomie has worn several Michael Kors moments on various red carpets like the BAFTA Awards and a premiere of Spectre. As I was looking at archive Michael Kors collection I found this white crystal embellished halter gown from the Michael Kors Fall 2005 RTW collection. I knew it would be a gorgeous moment for Naomie to wear on this red carpet. Super elegant and glamorous. Now as presented the gown is gorgeous, but I would love to see Michael customize this archive moment for Naomie so that it has a really long dramatic train. I just want Naomie to ooze timeless glamour on the Met Gala red carpet. A sleek bun updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a silver Swarovski crystal embellished Michael Kors ‘Simone’ clutch, a pair of white Gianvito Rossi ‘Glam’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Atelier Swarovski jewels including a pair of Penelope Cruz collection ‘Lola’ double drop earrings with dazzling pear-shaped Swarovski Genuine Topaz encircled by stunning Swarovski Created Diamonds, suspended from an oval-shaped stud and a statement ‘Azure Blue’ cocktail bracelet artfully arranged in bands around two cabochon Swarovski Created Star Sapphires, 3 rows of round brilliant Swarovski Created Diamonds surround sparkling rows of Swarovski Genuine Topaz and dangling details of marquise cut laboratory created blue Spinel and pear cut Kashmir blue treated Swarovski Genuine Topaz drops, all set in 18k white gold all would ensure the look delivers dramatic timeless glamour from head to toe. And my final wish for the 2020 Met Gala wish I dug into the glamorous Ralph Lauren archives. Like Michael Kors I picked two looks from Ralph Lauren for the Met Gala. Ralph didn’t get to present his Fall 2020 collection because of the COVID-19 crisis, but with an illustrious archive full of glam gowns I was able to make sure he was included. I saw this halter neck white silk charmuse halter gown from the Ralph Lauren Fall 2005 RTW collection (apparently a good season for white gowns) and knew that it was the perfect gown for the Met Gala. Now I went through many options of stars to wear it on the red carpet, but as soon as I thought of this gown on Olivia Munn I knew it was the perfect fit. The gown on Olivia would definite ooze sophisticated, sensual elegance. Styling the gown with old Hollywood waves, smokey eyes, nude pink lips, a white croc embossed satin Tyler Ellis ‘Lily’ clutch, a pair of white Casadei ‘Blade’ ankle strap stiletto sandals, and statement Lorraine Schwartz jewels including a pair of paraiba tourmaline and white diamond teardrop pendant earrings and a matching statement paraiba tourmaline cocktail ring would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Olivia.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 34

Today’s set of Met Gala wishes definitely is a gambit of different styles. You will find everything from cocktail to couture. Its one of the things I love about this years Met Gala red carpet. There are so many possibilities of what we could see on this red carpet. How the theme is interpreted is really endless. There are very few rules about what we will see on this red carpet and these wishes will show you exactly that. On the Marc Jacobs Fall 2020 RTW runway there were so many moments that as they came down I said would make for a perfect Met Gala fashion moment. I have already picked looks for Uma Thurman, Cynthia Erivo, Beanie Feldstein, & Sofia Coppola to wear from this collection. My final wish to see this collection on the Met Gala red carpet is for Annabelle Wallis to wear this sleeveless silver metallic lace gown which features a Babydoll silhouette, square neck, train detailed superb 60’s fashion moment. I saw this gown come down the runway knew it was a perfect moment for this years Met Gala red carpet. It would be a super chic glamorous moment and I feel like Annabelle would definitely make it a beautiful effortless glamour moment. Styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of simple yet chic silver metallic leather Aquazzura ‘First Kiss’ strappy sandals, and a statement Tiffany & Co. pendant necklace in platinum with a cushion-cut green tourmaline of over 34 carats and round brilliant diamonds I know this look would make sure Annabelle brings the glamour to this red carpet. Ralph Lauren always dresses some super glamorous women on this red carpet, but in light of the COVID-19 crisis he cancelled his fall show. So I went on a hunt in the brands archives to find the perfect looks for stars to wear on this years red carpet. I remembered this gold liquid fabric one shoulder fit for flare gown from the Ralph Lauren Fall 2016 RTW collection. It was from Ralph’s last season ahead of his transition to see now buy now. I loved this gown, but after Kate Winslet wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown in the same fabric in black for the Oscar that year it kind of got sent to the archives. It is time for this gown to come out of the archives for this years Met Gala red carpet. This look screams modern timeless glamour and I feel like it is a perfect look for Emma Roberts to bring to life on this years red carpet. She would ooze modern sophistication wearing this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, a black and gold Judith Leiber Couture ‘Midnight Strikes’ clock inspired minaudiere (another nod to this years theme,) a pair of gold Casadei ‘Julia Lana’ rock crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and even more sparkle via a pair of Sutra ‘Tassel’ collection champagne diamond drop earrings. Kiersey Clemons has delivered super chic edgy moments on the red carpet. Last year she was seated front row at the Miu Miu Spring 2020 RTW collection presentation. I was starting to think about who should wear the label on this years Met Gala red carpets, but instead of going with any of the celebrities who walked the runway for the Fall 2020 RTW show I decided that Kiersey was the perfect person to wear this black and red taffeta mini dress from that collection which features puffy sleeves, an embellished yoke, sash waist, and a bubble hem. While this is not the most obvious option for the Met Gala red carpet it is definitely super fun and a moment that hearkens back to the decadence of the 1980’s. This would definitely be one of the super fun moments of the night. A short teased afro, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of black satin Miu Miu crystal embellished platform sandals, and statement Vanleles ‘Enchanted Garden’ titanium ruby and white diamond flower cuff earrings would definitely ensure that Kiersey shuts down her first ever Met Gala red carpet. It was on the Met Gala red carpet the first Monday last may that I first learned who Lizzo was when she was the guest of Marc Jacobs. It wasn’t until a couple of red carpets later that I really started to take notice of who she really was though. Since then she has really become a major fashionista rocking looks from Atelier Versace, Mary Katrantzou, and more on the red carpet. For this years Met Gala red carpet I decided to go for the full dazzle with this silver and rose gold Givenchy Spring 2020 Couture tinsel fringe caped tiered gown. I would love to see this happen. I knew I wanted to make sure I featured Lizzo in these wishes, so I went on a hunt for the perfect gown for her to bring to life. I feel like she would OWN this look twirling and shimmying her way up the Met steps. This dazzling moment with a 60’s inspired beehive updo, smokey eyes, burgundy glossy lips, a silver Judith Leiber Couture ‘Diamond Flawless’ minaudiere, silver metallic leather Givenchy ‘Mignon’ strappy t-strap sandals, and a pair of simple white diamond Kwiat ‘Splendor’ double drop earrings would be an absolutely amazing moment for Lizzo to bring to life. For my final wish for today I once again dove into designer archives. There are certain designers I expect to see on the Met Gala red carpet. Thom Browne is one of them. When I wasn’t exactly feeling any of the looks from his Fall 2020 RTW collection I started a deep dive into his previous collections. I found this gold sequin cap sleeve pajama top meets flapper gown from the Thom Browne Fall 2014 RTW collection and it spoke to me. It definitely spoke to the theme for me and I thought it would be the perfect look for him to pull out of the archive for stars to option for this years red carpet. It was almost as quickly as I found this gown that I imagined Rose Byrne wearing it. She has the effortless glamour to bring this look to life perfectly. I would go full flapper with the glam styling this look with a 20’s inspired updo, smokey eyes, soft pink lips, a gold Swarovski crystal embellished Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, a pair of gold Nicholas Kirkwood ‘S Specchio’ slingback sandals, and a selection of antique jewelry from Kentshire including a pair of repoussé gold day-to-night earrings from 1820 with floating garnet-set steel panels and gold kite-shaped appliqués, in 18k, a gold cuff bracelet from 1870 with three lozenge-shaped insets and wirework edging, in 15k. gold, and a bit of sparkle for the wrist via a diamond half-hoop bracelet from 1880.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 30

The looks in today’s set of wishes are major. I always say the answer to picking the perfect Met Gala fashion moment is go big or go home. That is exactly what I did when picking the looks for Aja Naomi King, Naomi Scott, Lucy Liu, and Rowan Blanchard; oh and there is a super chic white tie moment for Henry Golding. Each of these looks is perfectly indicative of each label and all would be superb moments to see on this years red carpet. Aja Naomi King made her Met Gala debut in 2016, but hasn’t been on the red carpet since. Now she is a L’Oreal Paris spokesmodel and I feel like it’s about time she got her second appearance on the famed Met steps. What kills me about Aja on the red carpet is the fact that I know she has so much potential, but rarely lives up to it. For this years Met Gala red carpet I want to see Aja turn to Christopher John Rogers. I really want to see the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner deliver major moments on the Met steps this year. For Aja I would love to see Christopher create a custom gown that is a hybrid of two looks from the Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 RTW collection. Taking the red lamé asymmetrical peplum cocktail dress which features a plunging neckline and layering it over the black and silver crystal embellished column skirt from the strapless column gown. Each look on their own isn’t right for the Met Gala red carpet, but combined I know this look would be superb. A chignon afro puff updo, smokey eyes with a hint of emerald, dark rose pink lips, a pair of black Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong Stardust’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and statement Amrapali emerald and white diamond teardrop pendant earrings would definitely make this a major moment for Aja to wear on the Met Gala red carpet. Henry Golding was introduced to us about 2 year ago now when he stared in the hit film Crazy Rich Asians back to back with the Blake Lively/Anna Kendrick drama A Simple Favor. He made his Met Gala red carpet debut last year taking a risk in custom Atelier Versace. It was a risk that almost paid off. I appreciate that Henry is willing to take some risks with fashion, but for this years Met Gala I decided I wanted to see him bring perfect classic glamour to this red carpet. This classic cut white tie Ralph Lauren Fall 2020 Menswear tailcoat tuxedo is the epitome of timeless elegance for menswear and when fitted perfectly the looks are one to take notice of. I definitely believe that Ralph would make sure this look is perfectly tailored for Henry. Now I would just add a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlatio’ paillette sequin embellished oxfords to add a subtle hint of dazzle to this look. Over the years Lucy Liu has only walked 2 Met Gala red carpets. That honestly surprises me as she is quite the fashionista. While we don’t see Lucy on the red carpets often when she does the looks are always top notch. In fact she has one of my favorite Met Gala red carpet moments ever thanks to the purple ruffled Zac Posen gown she wore in 2007. I would love to see her attend this year as a guest of Christian Siriano. Lucy wore Siriano for the Tony Awards last year and was seated front row at his Spring 2020 RTW show last September. Never one to shy away from drama for the red carpet I thought Lucy would be the perfect person to wear this crocodile skin pattern embroidered velvet ensemble from the Christian Siriano Fall 2020 RTW collection which includes a structured high neck capelet and a strapless corseted ball gown. The look is distinctly Siriano and a modern, edgy twist on the classic ballgown. It really do think that while Lucy is quite petite that she has the presence to make this look come to life on the red carpet. While the matching hat is quite interesting for the runway I would have Lucy ditch it for the red carpet instead opting to style the gown with a sleek side parted updo, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, black glitter Christian Louboutin ‘Renee’ strappy leather sandals, and a pair of statement David Webb ‘Asheville’ earclips made in cabochon turquoise, brilliant-cut diamonds, 18K gold, and platinum. This would definitely make for a statement making moment for Lucy to wear for her Met Gala return. Naomi Scott made her Met Gala debut last year ahead of her major promo tour for Aladdin. She wore a cool Burberry crystal chain and feather embellished tunic and sleek tailored pants. It was definitely one of the cooler looks of the evening, but when there were so many major gowns it faded into the masses. I don’t want that to happen to her this year. So I turned to the illustrious Richard Quinn, who is known for making dramatic moments happen. He dressed Naomi in black latex and blue floral jacquard for the Charlies Angels premiere in London last fall and for this years Met Gala I went back to his Spring 2019 RTW collection to seek inspiration for the perfect gown for Naomi to wear. I would love to see Naomi give us modern flapper vibes wearing a custom gown inspired by this ice blue silk cocktail dress which features silver beaded embroidery and black feather embellishments. Now picture it with me. Taking this dress and lengthening it to hit the floor with the feather embellishments on silk strips made to add a dramatic train to this gown would definitely make sure that Naomi delivers the drama on the red carpet. I would love to see Naomi take this custom gown and go full flapper with it styling the gown with a fingerwave updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of black Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Monstera’ crystal embellished leaf sandals, and vintage 1930’s white diamond Bulgari art deco chandelier earrings. Rowan Blanchard has now hit the 18 year age requirement to attend the Met Gala. I have wanted to see the actress own this red carpet for a while. She isn’t afraid to take sartorial risks and I know that she would own this red carpet. I have been imagining her wearing this Schiaparelli Spring 2020 Couture ‘Grand Flou’ ball gown which features a multicolored “bathing suit” bustier, thin halter straps, and a huge shocking pink skirt in silk faille since it first came down the runway back in January. This gown can only work on a couple of red carpets and the Met Gala is one of those few red carpets where this look would work. While it isn’t really a “timeless” gown by any stretch of the imagination it does speak perfectly to the codes of the House of Schiaparelli. Finishing this look with a sleek retro inspired updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of metallic pink Gucci chunky peep toe platform sandals, and white diamond Hueb ‘Luminus’ starburst cluster earrings would definitely make this a major Met Gala debut moment for Rowan.

2020 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Sunday night in London the biggest names in Hollywood will descend upon the Royal Albert Hall for the 2020 BAFTA Awards. I have to say that after getting a list of the presenters I am super excited for this years red carpet. “Sustainability is very important to BAFTA, and we’re doing more than ever before,” a BAFTA spokesperson told Harper’s Bazaar. “The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, BAFTA is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.” That idea has pushed to the red carpet as well. The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge were asked to “dress sustainably” and quickly it went to everyone. So I decided to have fun with these wishes and do things a little differently than normal. Every look from this list is a wish for someone to re-wear something they have in the past, wear a vintage (or nouveau vintage), off the rack, archive runway, or from labels who are lauded as having sustainability as part of their core mission. Honestly I think this might be my favorite set of wishes. I raided the online vintage shop Shrimpton Couture (who has loaned out some of the best vintage for stars including Tracee Ellis Ross, Naomi Campbell, Emily Deschanel, Kate Hudson, Busy Phillips, & more) because owner and curator Cherie Balch has some of the most amazing gowns. I also found “second hand” gowns from The Real Real and 1stDibs. When it came to the re-wear’s I’ve picked it was super easy choices there as each of the looks I want to see worn again are some of the looks that I immediately think of when I think of those ladies. Overall I am really intrigued to see what will happen on this red carpet.

The 2020 BAFTA Awards will take place on Sunday February 2, 2020.

2020 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

This is my last set of wishes for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards. I am so excited to see what everyone is going to bring to the red carpet. As I have said the red carpets leading up to this event have been awesome and I am just ready to see everyone bring their A-game to this red carpet. The theme of this set of wishes is drama and glamour. Some of these wishes are definitely more out there than that we are used to seeing from the wearers (ie. the Valentino Haute Couture gown I’ve picked for Awkwafina, the Givenchy feathered eleganza I picked for Dakota Fanning, and the ombre Marchesa gown for Tiffany Haddish) to super dramatic moments for red carpet queens like the Azzi & Osta Couture mermaid gown I want to see on Tiffany Haddish and the major modern yet classic moment from Stephane Rolland I think that Cynthia Erivo would shut down the red carpet in, but I believe that each of these moments would turn me into the heart eyed emoji making me fall back in love with red carpets again.
