2021 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

As we get closer to the actual date of the Grammy’s my wishes are going to get a little more fantastical. While I am still incorporating picks for performers and nominees, some of my wishes are for people we would normally have seen on a Grammy’s red carpet. There are all sorts of great events happening before and after this years show which tell me that there would have been some great moments from those stars as they usually make appearances at those events and then at the Grammy’s themselves. So I am disappointed we are loosing out on some of those moments, but I am getting more and more excited for the future. Red carpets are sure to start returning in full force by the end of this year and I am very excited.Andra Day is one of those stars. She is attending one of those satellite events and with her major awards season run (so far in Chanel Couture and custom Prada) on the road to the Oscars I would definitely expect that we would have seen her at the Grammy’s. For her last two Grammy’s shes referenced bold retro inspired glam, but for this years show I would have gone for more 40’s femme fatale glamour with this deep pool blue velvet Ralph & Russo Fall 2018 Couture strapless column gown which features soft draping, a bustier bodice, intricate crystal snake embroidery, and a daring hip high spit. I love the super sexy Rita Hayworth vibe of this gown and I feel like Andra would be able to sell this gown to us easily. So I would have loved to see her wearing this gown with a sleek retro inspired updo, defined eyes, matte burgundy lips, a pair of gold Casadei rock crystal studded ankle strap sandals, and a statement 18k gold David Webb chain-link collar necklace with brilliant-cut white diamonds and black enamel. Billy Porter will be appearing in a Grammy special about the music connected to social movements in the weeks after the show. Knowing that I would have expected to see the fashionista on the red carpet. He always serves up major fashion moments and I’ve been dying to see Billy wear this lime green Palomo Spain Spring 2021 ensemble which features a floor length duster coat (with a robins egg blue lining) with matching trousers and a white shirt since it was first presented. I was going to use it for a “premiere” of a movie he will be staring in, but that movie release got pushed. So I was thrilled that I still got to put this wish into the universe. I would love to see this major fashion moment styled perfectly with a pair of gold Saint Laurent ‘Candy’ platform boots and a vintage Veruda ‘Nosegay’ peridot, white and yellow diamond brooch set in 18k gold and platinum. Cardi B will be performing on this years show Sunday night so I know she will be serving LOOKS. Her last two Grammy’s have both been in Mugler, both vintage and custom. I wanted a major moment this year and I found it in this black and silver Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture one shoulder gown which features sequined “feather” 3D details on the bodice, a single sleeve, sheer construction, crystal embellished waist, and an a-line skirt. I have been all over this collection in my Grammy wishes picking looks for H.E.R. and Ariana Grande as well. Crazy thing is that while all three looks are coming from the same collection they all feel very different at the same time. I would absolutely love to see Cardi take this sexy yet glam moment and style it with a sleek updo, smokey winged eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black leather Christian Louboutin ‘Round Chick Alta 150 Black Kid’ scalloped edge peep toe ankle strap d’orsay platform pumps, and a selection of Amwaj jewels including white diamond waterfall chandelier earrings and a matching white diamond cocktail ring to really make this look come to life. John Legend has two Grammy nominations this year and that would definitely have meant we would have seen him and wife Chrissy Teigan on the Grammy’s red carpet this year. I am hoping that this social media savvy duo will still do some super chic fashion moments for the ‘gram. I picked two super dazzling and glam complimentary moments for the pair starting with a steel blue and silver floral jacquard metallic Tom Ford Fall 2021 Menswear tuxedo blazer styled with black trousers. Now the jacket is a favorite of mine from the Fall 2021 menswear collections and I feel like John would look phenomenal in it, but I would style it with a classic white tuxedo shirt, black tuxedo studs, a black bow tie, and a pair of black patent leather Jimmy Choo ‘Foxley/m’ tassel detailed loafers. Now for Chrissy I went with a shining moment with this metallic gunmetal grey pleated chiffon Georges Chakra Fall 2020 Couture strapless gown which features intricate ruffle details, a beaded waist, an a-line skirt, and a thigh high split. Chrissy always knows how to deliver high glam moments on the red carpet and this look would definitely make this a major moment on the red carpet. A sleek updo, defined eyes, dark mauve lips, a grey crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, a pair of metallic gunmetal grey Stuart Weitzman ‘Oracle 100’ crystal ball detailed ankle strap sandals, and statement arabesque inspired Karen Suen white diamond chandelier earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. A winning duo for a fabulous couple. Best Country Song nominee Maren Morris will be performing with John Mayer at this Sunday’s show. I always find something to fault Maren with. I want to love her, but her style just is tacky and dated and very try to hard. I actually can’t believe I went here, but I picked two looks from D***e & G*****a Secrets & Diamonds collection. She wore D***e for the CMA Awards and it was one of her better looks. I just feel like if anyone could make me like a D***e moment now it would be Maren. For the “red carpet” I would love to see her wearing this black tiered gown with thick straps, intricate crystal embroidery, and a bustier bodice. It is all about glamour from head to toe and would be perfect with sleek old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, defined eyes, bold red lips, black suede Amina Muaddi ‘Vita’ strappy platform sandals, and a selection of Dena Kemp jewels including black and white diamond drop earrings and a matching link cocktail ring. For the performance I went with more dazzle for Maren picking this silver crystal fringe mini dress which I can see being a super modern flapper moment. Keeping the same beauty adding a soft waves, a pair of silver Aquazzura ‘Temptation’ crystal trimmed PVC peep toe slingback sandals, and more Dena Kemp jewels including white diamond fan cluster earrings, a three flower stud white diamond two finger ring, and a five row white diamond cocktail ring would make this look sparkle and shine in the best way possible on our television screens.

The 2021 Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on CBS Sunday March 14, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years red carpet here.

2020 American Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Now that the People’s Choice Awards are behind us it’s time to head full into the next major award show the 2020 American Music Awards. I am very excited about this scaled back yet in person award show. I have been super impressed with the progression of in person music award events this year and I cannot wait to see what the AMA’s have in store for us. Soon after they announced the nominees it was announced that Taraji P. Henson would be the hostess of this years event. I was already excited about what we could see from this event, but I got even more excited with this announcement. I immediately started to pick looks. I after going through collection after collection I had over 100 options for Taraji. I had such a hard time narrowing down the options that I sent them all to a couple of friends whose opinions I trust. The looks below are seven absolutely major ensembles I know that Taraji would shut down during her time as the hostess of the American Music Awards. I’ve heard that there will be a red carpet ahead of this event so I wanted to go for dramatic glamour for Taraji so I was sold pretty quickly on the idea of her wearing this black chiffon Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2020 Couture one shoulder draped gown which features an asymmetrical sweetheart neckline, a silk cummerbund defined waist, crystal broach detail on one hip, an asymmetrical skirt trimmed in ostrich feathers and a dramatic cape train also trimmed in feathers. It is sexy and glamorous and I feel like Taraji would definitely give it the sex kitten appeal I know she can deliver. She also recently debuted crayola red hair which I am not a fan of. I wasn’t exactly taking it into account when I made my options, but I think they all work. The hair would work with this look styled into a sleek fingerwave updo. Finishing the moment with smokey eyes, deep glossy red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Goya Ruban Alta 120’ crepe satin and chiffon peep toe platform ribbon strap pumps, and statement white diamond and emerald Gismondi 1754 ‘Rugiada’ waterfall chandelier earrings it would make for a glamorous moment for Taraji to kick off the night. To kick off the telecast I went for even more couture for Taraji. Ralph & Russo presented their Fall 2020 Couture collection three ways. We saw a couple looks styled into actual lookbook photos, a digital model, and sketches. While I’ve only seen this scarlet red silk georgette gown which features a plunging neckline and oversized bow hip bustle, embellished with pearlescent sequins via sketch it was definitely a favorite from this collection. While on paper it says it is a gown, the way the fold of the skirt is in the sketch I would really love to see this made as a jumpsuit for Taraji to kick off the show. I like to balance gowns, cocktail looks, and trousers for a well rounded set of looks so I feel like this jumpsuit would be a great moment. I would finish the look with big bouncy curls, defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, and a pair of red glitter Casadei ‘City Light Blade’ pointed toe pumps.

Mugler has been all over this fall. They dressed 3 stars (Ariana Grande, Madison Beer, & Miley Cyrus) for the VMAs and it doesn’t seem like they are going to be slowing down any time soon. I’ve gone ahead an picked a super sexy glam moment for Taraji that could be a fun kitschy moment during the show since Dua Lipa just wore this gown in her Levitating music video. I love this black sheer corseted draped below the knee length gown which features thin straps, all over black pearl embellishment, a thigh high ruched slit, and matching gloves. The look is a balance of uber sex appeal and femme fatale. I think that is right up Taraji’s ally. I’d style this look with a sleek side parted bun, defined eyes, deep burgundy lips, simple black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Catia’ strappy sandals, and dazzling black diamond Anabela Chan ‘Cascade’ waterfall chandelier earrings to create a major sexy glam moment.

I first talked about Annakiki on Saturday in my People’s Choice wishes for Chloe x Halle and it’s already back for my wishes for Taraji to rock while hosting the People’s Choice Awards. I love this blue space print ruched zip-up mini dress which features ginormous puffy sleeves from the Annakiki Spring 2021 RTW collection and feel like it would be a really cool moment for Taraji to bring to life on the AMA’s stage. I feel like it is a different statement than most of the other looks I’ve picked for Taraji, but it fit’s in perfectly at the same time. To really make this look chic AF I would style it with a sleek high ponytail, thick winged eyes, bold red lips, a pair of major light wash denim Balmain ‘Campbell’ lace up peep toe thigh high boots, and a selection of statement Gismondi 1754 ‘Genesi’ collection jewels including white diamond paisley scroll drop earrings and a matching cuff bracelet. So far each look has been about detail, pattern, and embellishment. While I love all of those things sometimes a palate cleanser is needed. So I turned to this black Monot Spring 2021 RTW cutout crepe backless maxi gown which features a slim fit, long sleeves, cutout front, and side sit. It gives me a major 90’s Gucci by Tom Ford vibes and I feel like Taraji would definitely be able to sell this overtly sexy yet simplistic look to me with ease. Now the gown itself is super simple, but the styling I want to see with it is not. I feel like this gown is a perfect canvas for major styling so to continue to make it a major moment I would style this gown with old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, nude glossy lips, a pair of chunky black croc embossed Christian Louboutin ‘Foolish’ platform sandals, and a selection of Gucci Haute Jewelry including a statement multi precious stone and white diamond ‘Hortus Deliciarum’ collar necklace and a complimentary ‘Hortus Deliciarum’ cuff bracelet.

I definitely couldn’t do this list without a Balmain moment for Taraji. I adored this black, raspberry pink, emerald green, ruby red, silver, and gold 80’s inspired sequin patterned mini dress from the Balmain Resort 2021 collection which features a crew neck, padded shoulders, long dolman sleeves, and crystal embellishments the moment I saw this lookbook. I feel like it is that fun kinda 80’s glam moment we are used to seeing at music awards and I definitely can see it being a fun moment on Taraji. The dress itself is so dazzling so I would style it with a loose romantic updo, smokey eyes, deep red lips, and a pair of hot pink Fenty ‘Power Point’ pointed toe flat curved heel pumps to make it another major moment.

My finale look was one that I had the most indecision about. I was stuck between two very equally glamorous yet very different looks. I was heavily leaning towards a silver crystal fringe Schiaparelli Couture tea length gown (don’t worry it’s going to have an AMA’s wish moment in the coming days for someone else), but then I saw this black Georges Hobeika Spring 2021 RTW strapless sequined jumpsuit which features a sweetheart neckline, ankle length trousers, and a dramatic chiffon cape. It was a really cool glam moment and I definitely think it would vibe with Taraji’s sense of style. To finish out the night I would style this jumpsuit with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of major black Amina Muaddi silver crystal embellished v-strap PVC detailed ankle strap sandals, and a statement white diamond Butani collar necklace. Each look would make sure that Taraji has one of the best hosting styles of the year.

The 2020 American Music Awards will take place on Sunday November 22, 2020.

2020 E! People’s Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

Happy Friday everyone! The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards continue to inch closer and closer. Today I am adding 5 more wishes to my round up. Details of what this years event will look like aren’t getting a lot of buzz. I am really interested in seeing what everyone has in store for fashion moments. So let’s get into today’s wishes shall we?I want Billie Eilish to bring some fashion to the red carpet. I want to see her get away from Gucci, Chanel, and Burberry and expand her designer dossier. When I was looking at the Marques’Almeida Spring 2021 RTW collection I found myself saying that there were some really good moments I wanted to see Billie wear, and my Fashion Forward Friends podcast co-host Kelly agreed. So when I was thinking of a cool look for Billie to wear on this red carpet I turned to this army green tonal patchwork oversized double breasted suit. It fits her oversized aesthetic, but does so in a way we haven’t seen from Billie in a while. Now while I think it would be cool for her to wear this look sans top like it was presented on the runway that isn’t really that on brand for her. So I would like to see a custom army green sequined sweatshirt made to compliment this look. Her signature lime green rooted black hair styled into easy center parted waves, big full lashes, nude lips, a matching mask, and major Dr. Martens ‘Jadon’ black leather thick sole platform lace-up combat boots would definitely make this a really cool look for Billie to bring to life at the People’s Choice Awards. Doja Cat has been making the the awards show rounds this fall. I honestly had no idea who she was, but the girl is serving looks. At the VMA’s she rocked Versace, at the Billboard Awards she wore custom Georges Hobeika Couture, and most recently for the EMA’s she wore brand new Givenchy by Matthew Williams. She is definitely a fashion girl and I cannot wait to see what more she has in store. She has two People’s Choice Award nominations and I really want to see her on this red carpet. I turned back to Versace. Her first look was two seasons old, but since then shes flexed some major fashion chops so I went to the Versace Spring 2021 RTW collection and this sea inspired ensemble which features a crystal embellished bralet and a wavy structured ruffle mini skirt. This is one of my favorite looks from all of the Spring 2021 RTW collections and I can definitely imagine Doja making it a really major moment. To make it head to toe perfection I would have Doja style this look with a sleek high pony with light blue ombre details, thick defined eyes, hot pink lips, a pair of silver Christian Louboutin ‘Corinetta 100’ round silver studded PVC strappy sandals, and Yessayan white diamond floral drop earrings. Joey King is one of my favorite young red carpet fashion girls. She loves to serve a look. So I am hoping that her Choice Comedy Movie Star of 2020 award nomination for The Kissing Booth 2 will take her to this years People’s Choice Awards. If she does I would love to see her rocking this gold, fuchsia, and black metallic chevron chiffon Ralph & Russo Spring 2021 RTW mini dress which features a slim fit, mutton sleeves, open-back, tie-accented waist, and a faux wrap style skirt. I thought of this look almost immediately. I did do a little more looking, but ultimately I decided that this was the perfect look for Joey to rock on the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards. It is fun, bold, and feminine which are all the boxes that Joey likes to check when picking her red carpet looks. Styling this dress with a sleek center parted hairstyle, bronze defined eyes, light pink lips, a pair of gold snakeskin Tom Ford ‘Padlock’ pointed toe ankle strap pumps, and a selection of Amrapali jewels including ruby and diamond floral drop earrings and two diamond and ruby surrealist art nouveau surrealist lip rings would make this look super chic. Sofia Carson knows how to bring the drama to the red carpet. The actress, singer, dancer loves volume and drama. She is known for wearing Giambattista Valli on the red carpet and when I saw that she was going to be one of the presenters at the 2020 People’s Choice Awards I immediately thought of this sherbet peach  strapless asymmetric tulle ruffled cocktail dress which features black ribbon detail on the neckline and a boned corseted bodice from the Giambattista Valli Spring 2021 RTW collection. It is such a Sofia dress. It delivers some major Valli drama, while still being the right glam for this red carpet. Styling this look with a soft side parted updo, thick defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, black glitter Stuart Weitzman ‘The Amelina 95’ ankle strap sandals, and a pair of white and yellow diamond Gismondi 1754 ‘Solstizio’ drop earrings would definitely make this a major fashion moment for the People’s Choice red carpet. Tiffany Haddish is also going to be presenting at the People’s Choice Awards tomorrow night. I go back and forth on whether or not I really like Tiffany’s style. During quarantine she shaved her head and I am really interested in seeing what her style will be. I thought that this lemon yellow and white one shoulder Christian Siriano Spring 2021 RTW pencil dress would be super chic. It is simple and classic in its silhouette and construction, but I feel that is perfect for Tiffany. I think that should this dress be perfectly tailored and styled with smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of white Fenty ‘Date Night’ strappy pointed toe pumps, and simple 18k gold set Mateo NY ‘Small Diamond Axis Hoop’ earrings that it would be one of Tiffany’s best red carpet moments to date.

The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards will take place on Sunday November 15, 2020.

2020 Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Tomorrow night are the 2020 pandemic version of the Billboard Music Awards. The awards are finally happening, in a virtual event, after being postponed earlier this year. I don’t know what to expect, but there are some major names in the list of nominees and performers so I hope to see a lot of these stars over the course of the telecast tomorrow night. Check out some of the absolutely major moments I want to see these stars rock tomorrow night for the virtual “red carpet” and let me know which are your favorites and which ones you most want to see brought to life.

2020 MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

The VMA’s are coming and I am really excited to see what this years event will look like. The producers are creating bubbles for performers and their crews in New York and LA. I was hoping for a red carpet, but it doesn’t seem like that will happen. I do hope that glam squads are putting together formal looks in addition to performance looks so that if their clients are presenting or performing they serve us up FASHION. In today’s wishes you are going to find a plethora of superb glam moments for nominees and performers at this years VMA’s they all would have been major moments on the red carpet, but would be just as major from a studio space. I just want major fashion. Is that too much to ask for? Rain on Me has lead Ariana Grande (and of course Queen Gaga) to the most VMA nominations this year. They will also be performing at this years ceremony. We haven’t seen them able to get out and perform this song before so I am really excited to see what will come. Now while later you are going to see a wish for Gaga’s performance outfit I just picked a look for Ariana to wear if she gives us DRAMA to accept any of the awards she and Gaga are bound to win. I would love to see her grab up this fuchsia pink tulle Ralph & Russo Fall 2020 Couture ballgown which features a sweetheart neckline, asymmetrically micro pleated bustier bodice, and multi-layered voluminous fan frill skirt with cascading train. It is that frothy feminine moment that we know Ari loves and I feel like it would be a superb moment for her to wear for the VMA’s. Now she would most likely style this look with her signature pony tail (insert eye roll here), but I would love to see her switch things up and style this gown with a major big bun updo. A thick winged eyeliner, soft pink lips, a pair of fuchsia pink grosgrain Casadei ‘Cannete Blade’ pointed toe stilettos, and a selection of Butani jewels including simple pink ruby and white diamond teardrop stud earrings, a statement white diamond collar necklace, and a selection of two pink ruby and white diamond bracelets would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Ariana. Camila Cabello is far from someone I get excited to see on the red carpet. She tends to look cheap and disheveled even when she’s wearing couture. It really is her hair that ruins looks for me. I feel like she could deliver good looks, but her pageant princess meets sex hair just doesn’t work for me. To put her on the path to a glamorous moment I started with this dusty sky blue tulle Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture off the shoulder knot draped a-line ball gown. I feel like this gown speaks to Camila’s sexy meets bohemian glam sense of style. I feel like this could be a superb moment for Camila. I feel like maybe the pairing of Camila and Dior, both of whom I usually find very lackluster, could potentially work very well together. To make this look really work I would love to see Camila style this gown with a romantic curly and braided updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver lizard leather embossed Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Catia’ strappy sandals, and Tiffany & Co. drop earrings set in platinum with emerald-cut aquamarines and baguette white diamonds from the 2019 Tiffany Blue Book Collection.Dua Lipa knows how to bring the sexy and I am hoping we will see her take part in the show where she is nominated for 4 awards. I thought going to a British label known for his love of sex was the right choice for Dua. I love this black velvet and lace Christopher Kane Fall 2020 RTW mini dress which features a bralet, cutout underboob, corset style waist, and a flounced a-line skirt and I really do think it would be super sexy glam moment for Dua to wear for an event like the VMA’s. I feel like Kane designs are a little underrated. He is a master at toeing the like between sex, glamour, and trash without it coming across as trashy. A sleek updo, defined soft smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Rabakate Alta 120’ peep toe half d’Orsay platform pumps, and art deco inspired Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2020 geometric white diamond and emerald drop earrings would definitely ensure this look screams absolute glamour from head to toe. When Lady Gaga is announced as a guest at any event she automatically becomes the person I am most excited to see. I feel like I never know what she will bring to life on the red carpet. I am sad that there will be no actual red carpet for Lady Gaga to grace this year. As I mentioned earlier I hope stars will bring a major fashion moment for both acceptance speeches and performances. Gaga is one of the stars who I actually picked two different looks for starting with that red carpet look for accepting the awards I am sure she will take home this year. It was recently announced that Gaga will front the next Valentino fragrance campaign and so I turned to the Valentino Spring 2020 Couture collection for a major fashion moment for her to bring to life at the VMAs with this baby pink silk and ostrich feather gown. This gown which features that major feathered bodice, a red lined skirt, thigh high split, and a dramatic train is definitely in tune with Gaga’s style. She is one of very, very few stars who I feel like would be able to make this gown really come to life and not let it wear her. I would let the gown be the statement with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of baby pink Pleaser ‘Aspire’ peep toe platform sandals, and a selection of dazzling Tiffany & Co, jewels including drop earrings set in platinum featuring pink kunzites and white diamonds and a geometric circle white diamond 2015 Blue Book cuff bracelet. To perform “Rain on Me” in a yet to be disclosed location (hopefully the streets of NYC) I turned to The Blonds and this major sequin and crystal detailed look from their Fall 2018 RTW collection. I fell like this gold moto jacket trimmed with floor length fringe paired with a disco ball bodysuit is right up Gaga’s ally. It would be a super cool moment styled with long center parted straight hair, a gold Manokhi biker hat, thick defined eyes, dark rose pink lips, the runways spike studded gold thigh high Christian Louboutin boots, and by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. ‘Leaves’ ear clips with peridots and diamonds set in platinum and 18 karat gold.

The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on Sunday August 30, 2020. You can see all my VMA’s wishes here.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “One Night In Miami” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

After the Official Selection for the 2020 Venice Film Festival was announced they added two more films Out of Competition selection for this years edition. One of those films is Regina King’s directorial debut One Night in Miami. The story follows a young Cassius Clay (before he became Muhammad Ali) as he emerges from the Miami Beach Convention Center as the new World Heavyweight Boxing Champion. Against all odds, he has defeated Sonny Liston and shocked the sports world. While crowds of people swarm Miami Beach to celebrate the match, Clay — unable to stay on the island because of Jim Crow-era segregation laws — instead spends the night at the Hampton House Motel in one of Miami’s historically black neighborhoods, celebrating with three of his closest friends: activist Malcolm X, singer Sam Cooke and football star Jim Brown. The next morning, the four men emerge determined to define a new world for themselves and their people. In a statement from the festival Regina King said, “We are pinching ourselves to have been selected to be a part of the Venice Film Festival — such a prestigious festival. Excited to announce another step in this film’s journey.” We don’t know yet if there will be a delegation headed to Venice to promote the film. I am PRAYING that we will see Regina on the Lido red carpet, but with current restrictions on US travel to Europe due to COVID-19 I just don’t know. In the effort to have a positive outlook I went on the hunt for two perfect looks for Regina to wear in Venice to promote her directorial debut. For the photocall I would definitely love to see her wearing this red, white, pink, and black lively floral motif Prada sleeveless a-line dress which features a round neckline, pleated skirt, and POCKETS. I do love this bold feminine moment and I believe that it would be gorgeous on Regina. Styling this dress with hair worn down pinned behind the ears, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of major black satin Prada round toe pumps with a red lightning bolt heel would definitely make this look photocall ready. Now for the premiere I went for bold goddess glamour for Regina. Since I first saw the sketch of this cerulean blue silk chiffon Ralph & Russo Fall 2020 Couture gown which features a sweetheart neckline and an asymmetrically hand pleated bodice, finished at the waist with a jeweled brooch I’ve been thinking about the perfect person to bring it from paper to red carpet. I feel like this color would be PHENOMENAL on Regina and the sexy, yet glamorous moment that this would be the perfect look for Regina to rock on the red carpet in Venice. I would definitely want to see this gown have a long and dramatic train for Regina. A sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, deep red glossy lips, a pair of aqua metallic leather Gianvito Rossi ‘Irene’ pointed toe strappy ankle tie pumps, and statement white diamond and paraiba tourmaline David Morris waterfall chandelier earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. So far in my wishes for Cate Blanchett to wear on the red carpet in Venice have been pretty expected. Now I don’t expect Cate to play it safe all festival long. I want to see her take risks and give us real fashion queen moments like I know she can deliver. I am honestly shocked that Cate hasn’t given us a Richard Quinn moment on the red carpet. I feel like his avant garde yet ladylike sensibility is right in line with her sense of style. I was excited that the selection expanded because I definitely feel like this wish for Cate to wear this dramatic gown from the Richard Quinn Spring 2020 RTW collection is perfect. I adore the intricately beaded long sleeve floral pattern drop waist bodice padded hips, jewel neckline, a full silk skirt, and a bow detail. It doesn’t surprise me it hasn’t been worn since it really would need the perfect person to bring it to life. I feel like Cate on the red carpet in Venice would be the perfect platform to finally give this gown a red carpet moment it most definitely deserves. A sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of black satin Salvatore Ferragamo platform strappy peep toe sandals, and a selection of Chopard jewels including a pair of white and yellow diamond cluster teardrop pendant earrings and a statement white and yellow diamond cocktail ring from the Red Carpet Collection 2020 would definitely ensure this is the major red carpet moment I’m envisioning in my mind. I’m definitely holding out hope that Ludivine Sagnier will turn out some super dazzling moments. For today’s wish I shopped right off the rack at FarFetch for this gold chainmail disco glam Gucci long sleeve gown which features a loose column fit, rear split, and a v-neckline. Gucci is always a fixture in Venice and I definitely feel like it is a great label for Ludivine. This gown is sexy meets glam. Now I would define the waist with a black leather Gucci ‘Gucci 1955 Horsebit’ belt it would have a very Studio 54 disco glam vibe about it. A wavy bob, thick defined and soft smokey eyes, red lips, a black satin Gucci ‘Broadway’ crystal embellished clutch, a pair of black leather Gucci knotted sandals, and Pomellato jewels including ‘Sabbia’ pendant drop earrings ombré pavé set in white, brown, and black diamonds, a matching ‘Sabbia’ cocktail ring, and a ‘Nudo Maxi’ obsidian and black diamond ring would definitely finish out this look perfectly. A little birdie has told me that Spanish supermodel Nieves Alvarez will once again be on the red carpets in Venice. So of course I had to make sure that she would be included in my wishes for this years festival. I feel like she and her stylist Victor Blanco are cooking up something super chic from the likes of Etro or Alberta Ferretti like they have been, but I’ve decided to give the Bulgari ambassador two major couture moments to bring to life in Venice. I knew immediately when I heard that Nieves was attending that one wish I was going to have for her is this acid green Armani Prive Spring 2012 Couture dramatic asymmetrically ruffled neckline column gown with a beaded one shoulder detail from the brands second showing of the collection in Beijing. This isn’t a color that many could make work, but something tells me Nieves could. This statement gown with a retro inspired updo, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, a black satin Yilana Yepez ‘Grace’ crystal studded minaudiere, black suede Aquazzura ‘Deneuve’ bow detailed ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Bulgari jewels from the recently presented ‘Barocko’ collection including a pair of delicate white diamond and emerald drop earrings and a statement white diamond cuff bracelet would definitely be a major fashion moment for Nieves. I also decided that to pay tribute to a label that has brought her many red carpet success in the past during a difficult time for them that I would pick a look from Elie Saab for Nieves to wear in Venice this year. The Beirut based Elie Saab studio and headquarters, which are located two and a half miles from the devastating explosion that recently happened, had sustained heavy damage. Reconstruction is already underway and the priority is to see that two or three floors, including the atelier and Mr. Saab’s studio, would be functional after the traditional summer break ends on August 17. So to celebrate the brand I would love to see Nieves wearing this white silk crepe column gown from the Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture collection with an intricate gold embroidered bodice and a dramatic lace cape. I is classic yet dramatic all at the same time. With a sleek updo, smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, a silver and gold Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Slide Pearl Grid’ crystal and pearl embellished lattice pattern clutch, a pair of gold Aquazzura simple ankle strap metallic leather sandals, and statement Bulgari peridot, rubellite, pink sapphire, amethyst, tanzanite, and white diamond chandelier earrings I really do believe this look would be a super glamorous statement.

2020 Deauville American Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

The Deauville American Film Festival is one of the international film festivals moving forward with an in person edition this year. This isn’t one of the festivals that is known for delivering major fashion moments on the red carpet, but I am craving red carpet moments anywhere I can get them. So my wishes for this years festival see some more dramatic moments than we are used to seeing in Deauville as well as wishes for every major star who has a film screening at this years festival. Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher is about to have a very busy fall festival season if she is able to make the rounds to all the festivals that are screening her films. In Deauville her film Last Word will be screened. Alba’s style is quite interesting she has great taste, but often her execution and effort are an issue to me. More often than not Alba walks the red carpet wearing a look from Valentino. So I turned to the label for the perfect look for her to wear in Deauville. I’ve been a huge fan of this Valentino Fall 2020 RTW collection ensemble which features a deep blue cape effect sequined top and navy wide leg wool pants since it walked the runway earlier this year. I feel like Alba would be lucky that the COVID-19 pandemic hit that this look is even still available. For Alba I would love to see her style this with a deliberate and romantic curly updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, the antique gold necklace the look was styled with on the runway, and a pair of black Valentino ‘VLogo’ pointed toe loge crested kitten heels to make sure it is one of her best red carpet moments ever. Jena Malone’s latest film Lorelei has been selected for this years edition. It’s been a while since we’ve last seen Jena on a red carpet and I would definitely have loved seeing her bring the glamour to the red carpet in Deauville. Now I’m not sure where she’s been living, but if it’s in the United States then we aren’t going to see her promote the film on this years red carpet. So this wish might just be that. I would love to see her give us modern glamour wearing this silver sequin Ingie Paris Fall 2020 RTW long sleeve column gown which features crystal trimming, thigh high split, and a copper lamé lining. We don’t really see Ingie gowns on the red carpet, but this moment definitely speaks to why we should. It would be a truly dazzling moment for Jena especially styled with a chic blonde pixie cut, defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a silver metal Alexander McQueen crystal clasp box clutch, a pair of silver metallic leather Aquazzura ‘Spicy’ strappy sandals, and Neil Lane Couture white and pear-shaped natural colored diamonds drop earringsWhen it comes to style The Violent Heart star Mary J. Blige has a very distinctive vibe about her. She defines hip hop glam, but she also knows how to give us Hollywood movie star when she is promoting movies. I don’t think we are going to see her in Deauville because of COVID-19 travel restrictions, but if we were to see her bring the glam to the red carpet I would love to finally see this sketch of a Ralph & Russo Fall 2020 Couture tangerine silk double satin asymmetrically draped jumpsuit, featuring metallic belt and shoulder detailing, and finished with a draped sash brought to life. I say bringing a look to life a lot on this site, but this gives a whole new meaning to it since we’ve only seen this jumpsuit as a sketch right now. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Talika’ pointed toe asymmetric crystal embellished ankle strap d’Orsay pumps, and Norman Silverman 18k yellow gold multi-cut white diamond hoop earrings would definitely compliment this jumpsuit perfectly. Olivia Cooke is one of those underrated stars on the red carpet. I would love to see the English actress make her way to Deauville to promote her film Sound of Metal. She has rocked major looks from Burberry, Prada, Dior, Marc Jacobs, and Calvin Klein. For this red carpet I went to a late 50’s inspiration with this red glittered lurex Emilia Wickstead Fall 2020 RTW ‘Sephora’ midi dress which features a rounded square neckline, draped v-neck back, and an a-line skirt. It is sexy yet classic all a the same time and I really do think it would be super chic on Olivia. Styled with a loose curly romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, red crystal embellished Gianvito Rossi ‘Glam’ ankle strap sandals, and Cartier geometric white diamond and ruby drop earrings I know that this would be a major moment for Olivia to bring to this red carpet. Riz Ahmed also stars in Sound of Metal, but when I picked this red Berluti Fall 2020 Menswear two button slim fit suit for him I didn’t even realize I had coordinated him with Olivia. I thought about going back to the drawing board, but I really I do think that it was the perfect choice for him to rock on this red carpet. Now the runway styling of this suit is a lot. I would drop the leopard pony hair parka, the dark purple silk button down, the fuchsia turtle neck, and the boots. That leaves us just the suit. I wouldn’t go crazy with the styling opting instead to style it with a white button down, a black silk skinny tie, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Nile King’ raffia detailed silver hardware detailed loafers to really make this look a major menswear moment for Riz to rock in Deauville, if he chooses to attend.

The 2020 Deauville American Film Festival will open on September 4, 2020 and run through September 14, 2020.

Fall 2020 Couture Round Up Red Carpet Wish List

Couture this season was VERY different. We saw designers tackle moving presentation digitally in vastly different ways. Dior did a short video editorial and showcased petite mains work on miniatures. Hobeika recorded a show without an audience from his home in Lebanon. Ralph & Russo showed a mix of in person shot lookbook, a digital spokesmodel, and sketches. And most showed smaller paired down collections shot in lookbooks. I would love to see many of these looks on the red carpet so I am hoping that we start seeing red carpets return soon. Two seasons worth of looks are already headed to the archives without being worn. So check out the 61 wishes below I would love to see brought to life on the red carpet from the Fall 2020 Couture collections.

50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER Part 9

Today we continue with my 50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER list. I did my research. The looks in this list are all based on looks that stars wore on red carpets all over the world. Now while some might think of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Katherine Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, and Twiggy when they think of iconic fashion moments. That is true, but you won’t find any of them on these lists. If you’re ready to ask me why I have an answer. Mostly their iconic fashion moments all were created for them by the costume designers contracted by the studios they worked for. I wanted to include only the looks that weren’t planned in conjunction with the studio for their impact. They might have been pulled together by high paid stylist, but not in a way that a studio would craft a look for their star based on the image they wanted them to have. Now this look is only ranked from the oldest to the newest and not based on how iconic I think that the look is. So let’s get into it.41) Sonam Kapoor in Ralph & Russo Couture at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival: The Cannes Film Festival is a place where cultures come to be celebrated and collide. So it makes sense that we often see stars wearing looks that pay homage to their heritage. Sonam Kapoor has long been one of the biggest fashionista’s to come out of India and usually pays homage to Indian culture in one or another on the red carpets in Cannes when she attends. In 2016 she brought the drama giving us east meets west glam with this white custom Ralph & Russo Couture asymmetrical caped gown. She commanded the red carpet wearing this gown which finds its Indian inspiration in the hand done embroidery. She always owns Cannes but making sure she delivered the requisite Cannes “Go Big or Go Home” drama while still paying homage to her roots definitely made this look ICONIC to me. 42) Michelle Obama in Atelier at the 2016 Italian White House State Dinner: Over the course of her time in the White House Michelle Obama delivered plenty of major fashion moments. Most of her eight years was spent championing emerging and established American designers, but 2016 she threw some major couture into the mix with looks from Gucci, Givenchy, & Atelier Versace. In 2016 I was working as a campaign organizer on Hillary Clinton’s Presidential Campaign. I will never forget sitting in my campaign office making voter contact calls while on a quick mental health break I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw a grainy video showing Michelle wearing this rose gold custom Atelier Versace draped chainmail gown I let out the loudest gasp and screamed yesssssssssss. I never would have expected this look from Michelle, but it really was her putting on her armor in the midst of a contentious campaign. I think that the subtle hint of going to battle is what made this look instantly iconic to me. 43) Evan Rachel Wood in Altuzarra at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards: In 2017 Evan Rachel Wood made a pledge to wear pants for all her red carpet appearances, and she lived up to that. It was easily her black Marlene Dietrich inspired custom Altuzarra white tie tuxedo that she wore to kick off that initiative that I think is one of the most successful menswear inspired moments ever on the red carpet. Everything about this look screams masculine meets feminine and Evan Rachel Wood definitely really sold it to me. 44) Zendaya in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2017 Met Gala: Zendaya has always been one of my favorite stars to see on the red carpet. As much as it pains me to feature anything Dolce & Gabbana on this website, but I really feel like this hand painted parrot print Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gown that Zendaya wore for the Rei Kawakubo themed Met Gala was her big princess I have arrived moment. It wasn’t her first Met Gala red carpet but it was her biggest. Everything about this look screamed excellence from head to toe. She showed us that glamour doesn’t have to be defined by plain gowns with embellishments. This is only the third look that features a print that made my list of ICONIC red carpet looks list. 45) Aishwarya Rai in Michael Cinco Couture at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival: Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai has been a fixture on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for almost two decades. When she showed up for the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals in 2017 wearing this larger than life Michael Cinco Couture ‘Cinderella’ ball gown she took my breath away. The glamour of this look was everything. It commands attention. It deserves that attention. When I think of the Cannes red carpet anymore I think of this gown and it is easy to see why.

50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER Part 8

So let’s get into it.36) Rihanna in Giambattista Valli Couture at the 2015 Grammy Awards: Yesterday I talked about one of Rihanna’s most iconic looks. Had this been a list of just Rihanna looks it would have started way before 2014, but as she has grown as an artist her fashion looks have just gotten more and more iconic. That being said 2015 really was the year of Rihanna on the red carpet starting with the pink ‘Cupcake’ Giambattista Valli Couture gown which she wore to twirl her way into the Grammy Awards. I NEVER would have picked this gown for Rihanna. I honestly our have picked this gown for someone like Ariana Grande, but Rihanna showed that couture can be effortless wearing this gown with barely there glam and still created a look that I will never forget. 37) Rihanna in Guo Pei Couture at the 2015 Met Gala: Several months later she did it again showing up as the last guest to arrive at the 2015 Met Gala wearing this iconic Guo Pei Couture cape. It was the look that sparked a million memes. Most likened this look to a comforter, eggs, and a pizza. What I loved about this look is that Rihanna paid homage to an actual Chinese designer for the Chinese themed gala, and did so in a MAJOR way. She had several attendants to help carry her train up the red carpet and make sure it was placed perfectly. While everyone was calling Beyonce the Queen of the Met Gala Rihanna showed that she is not one to underestimate. As Andre Leon Tally said when he saw it “It’s the black Frozen. It’s the look of the night.” It was one of the biggest looks of the year and of the decade for sure. I feel like people will still talk about this look in the next century. That’s iconic. 38) Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell at the 2016 Academy Awards: Lady Gaga’s second appearance in my 50 of the Most ICONIC Red Carpet Looks EVER list is significantly more glamorous than her first appearance. In 2016 we were on the road to Joanne and solidly in Lady Gaga’s romance with her stylist turn designer’s creations on the red carpet. It was also where she earned her first Oscar nomination. In this time I was really loving red carpet lady pants and this custom Brandon Maxwell ensemble gave them to us in a super glamorous way. While Gaga might have been robbed of the Oscar this time, she owned best dressed lists. 39) Claire Danes in Zac Posen at the 2016 Met Gala: Claire Danes took the 2015 Met Gala theme of Fashion and Technology very seriously. While most of the guests went to futuristic and robotic inspired designs Claire called on master creator Zac Posen. Zac made s custom strapless silver blue ballgown that on the bright lit red carpet was a glamorous Cinderella glamour with perfect construction, but what made this look ICONIC is when she walked inside the museum where it was dark and you saw that Zac had woven fiber optics into the gown and it literally lit up the night. 40) Celine Dion in Ralph & Russo Couture Out in Paris in 2016 Prior to 2016 Celine Dion was always one who delivered very glamorous couture moments on the red carpet, but then she started working with Law Roach at the time and started having a lot of FUN with fashion. Over the summer of 2016 she had a series of concerts in France and on her way to the venues each day she gave us a fashion show wearing some major fashion moments to leave her hotel (and often times turned the whole moment into a full on event.) There were so many major looks, but when she walked out the doors of the hotel dressed in head to toe white with a Ralph & Russo cape that trailed behind her with the big wide brimmed hat and those sunglasses I was left in awe. This look had just recently walked the runway and Celine, through Law, was able to snatch this cape for a super quick street style moment. It was a risk for the brand for sure, but it lasted making it that quick street style moment instantly iconic.
