2020 CMA Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Tomorrow night at the 2020 CMA Awards and I am interested in seeing what the ladies of country music are planning. There have been two country music awards since the pandemic hit and both have gone off without a hitch. “It will be an honor to bring the biggest country stars in the world together — in one room — for the first time this year,” said CMA CEO Sarah Trahern to The Boot, who describes the 2020 CMA Awards environment as “fully safe and physically distant.” So I will be very interested in seeing what the event will be. Will there be an actual red carpet? Who will actually show up? The 5 looks below would all make for a very successful night on the red carpet. Ashley McBryd won the Best New Artist trophy at last years CMA Awards and holds 3 nominations this year. She will also be performing in the opening tribute to the late Charlie Daniels as well as performing her own song “One Night Standards.” I don’t know anything about Ashley’s style, but I always look at all the female nominees pictures to decide if I will cover them or not (country awards aren’t known for big fashion moments) and Ashley made me interested. I don’t know who designed her gown from the Grammy Awards earlier this year, but I liked it. I also love her chest tattoo. So I went shopping. As a curvy girl on the red carpet it can be difficult to pick looks or find brands who will dress you. One brand who specifically caters to curvy women is Marina Rinaldi who recently partnered with Antonio Berardi on a capsule collection. I would love to see Ashley rock the china blue water print silk chiffon caftan gown which features a sash collar, long balloon sleeves, cut at the waist with gathering layered over a matching slip, finished with contrasting black lace. I feel like to ensure this look is a major fashion moment for Ashley I would style it with the black leather and gold chain charms detailed belt that it was styled with in the lookbook with a rockabilly inspired updo, defined winged eyes, bold red lips, and matching gold Marina Rinaldi x Antonio Berardi charm detailed gold chain strappy metallic leather sandals. When it comes to country music Carrie Underwood is a queen, but when it comes to the red carpet not so much. I always feel like Carrie has such potential, but often times she just doesn’t live up to it. Her gown last year at the CMA Awards was a mess. It was a sheer monstrosity that had the worse shapewear slip and a dirty dishwater tulle train attached. I want Carrie to rock something major on the red carpet at the CMA Awards this year with this lavender Rami Kadi Fall 2020 Couture strapless mermaid gown which features a crystal embellished sweetheart neckline, a lattice textured drop waist bodice, crystal appliques, and a dramatic feathered skirt. It has been a hot second since we’ve seen Rami Kadi on the red carpet and I feel like Carrie wearing this gown on the red carpet at the CMA Awards would be a triumphant return for both of them. Old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Catia’ strappy ankle strap sandals, and Kwiat ‘Legacy Embrace’ white diamond pear shaped drop earrings would all make this look scream glamour from head to toe. When it comes to the ladies of country music it’s Kacey Musgraves whom is really the only “fashion” girl out there. She is the one who’s brought looks from Valentino, Giambattista Valli Couture, Moschino, Armani Prive, Balmain, Marchesa, and more to the red carpet. For tomorrow night’s CMA Awards I went with another major high fashion moment picking this rose gold chainmail Atelier Versace Fall 2020 Couture gown which features a plunging v-neck, off the shoulder knot draped sash over the shoulders, fitted silhouette, and a thigh high split. I knew almost immediately that I wanted to do an Atelier Versace moment for Kacey and this gown would be phenomenal on the songstress. With a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, soft nude pink lips, rose gold Sergio Rossi ‘sr Gydda’ snake effect metallic leather strappy platform sandals, and a selection of gorgeous David Yurman jewels set in rose gold including a pair of ‘Starburst’ pink morganite and white diamond drop earrings and a ‘Stax’ pave set white diamond cuff bracelet I know that this could easily be a Best Dressed of the Year worthy contender. Maren Morris tries really hard to be a high fashion country princess, but it just doesn’t work. I tend to think that she comes across looking like she’s trying to hard when she steps out for a red carpet. Earlier this year she wore Alexander Wang and Versace for the ACM Awards and both were very disappointing looks. I feel like she should go for the sugary sweet side of country red carpets and that would be better than trying to force high fashion moments. Case and point? I think that this blush pink Georges Chakra Spring 2020 Couture strapless mini dress with a dramatic cape train would be a really great moment for Maren to bring to life on the red carpet. It is soft and sexy and despite its drama doesn’t seem like something that would have to be forced. It was a natural pick. While it would fit the boxes of your typical country music awards red carpet look I also think that Maren would be able to make it her best red carpet moment ever especially if she were to style this gown with a sleek high bun, defined eyes, bold pink lips, a pair of nude crystal embellished Rene Caovilla ‘Cleo’ coil ankle strap platform sandals, and Yessayan white diamond and yellow gold wreath earrings. The final wish I have for this years CMA Awards is for Miranda Lambert. She doesn’t walk many red carpets and she doesn’t have really good style. In fact for this wish I went for something every classic ans glamorous. She isn’t going to push boundaries so why even try. It’s been a while since I’ve even loved one of Miranda’s simpler looks. I feel like this black Tony Ward Spring 2021 RTW Chantilly lace fitted gown which features multicolor floral embroideries overlapped with a draping asymmetrical Georgette gathered on the waistline screams eleganza and would be a super chic moment for Miranda to bring to life on this red carpet. I wouldn’t be a major Best Dressed of the Year moment, but with old Hollywood waves, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a black Judith Leiber Couture crystal embellished slide lock clutch, a pair of black glittered Stuart Weitzman ‘The Amelina 95’ ankle strap sandals, and Gismondi 1754 one of a kind art deco inspired white diamond waterfall earrings I know it would be a personal best for Miranda.

The 2020 CMA Awards will take place tomorrow Wednesday November 11, 2020.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “On The Rocks”

Especially in the last two years the Cannes Film Festival has come under fire for not giving its fair shake to female directors. From all the articles I’ve read it seemed like Cannes 2020 was going to be a lot more equitable to female directors than ever before. One film I saw talked about was Sofia Coppola’s On The Rocks a New York-set father-daughter dramedy that reunites her with longtime muse Bill Murray. Indiewire said the film seemed more committed to Venice than Cannes and Awards Daily said Coppola would “most likely be welcomed back” thanks to this film. Sofia is no stranger to Cannes three of her four feature films since Lost in Translation debuted in Cannes while the other debuted in Venice like Lost In Translation. So really it was a coin flip to see if the film would have made the cut for Cannes. When it comes to style Sofia Coppola isn’t one I would usually see her topping any Best of Cannes lists. She doesn’t embody the Cannes motto of “go big or go home” in the least bit. Simple and elegant is the code that Sofia sticks to. The two looks I wanted to see her wearing in Cannes to promote On The Rocks easily fit into that box. For the photocall I went to Sofia’s good friend Marc Jacobs and this winter white boxy trompe l’oiel wool dress which features drop-waist silhouette, round neck, princess sleeves, bow back, flared skirt, and a mini hemline from his Fall 2020 RTW collection. The simple dress is chic and I definitely see it as something 100% within her wheelhouse. It would be perfectly put together in Sofia’s way with a loose wavy center parted bob, casual defined eyes, and soft matte blush pink lips. The finishing touch I would add to this look that would definitely just elevate Sofia’s style via a pair of mustard yellow satin Roger Vivier ‘Broche’ chunky low heel embellished buckle satin pointed toe slingbacks. For the premiere I went again for something just a little more surprising for Sofia, a floor length gown. Usually Sofia picks a knee or tea length gown even for the most formal of red carpets, but when I saw this glamorous navy silk satin Chanel Fall 2019 Couture halter gown which features a black patent belted waist I knew that it would have been a major moment for her to wear for a Cannes Film Festival premiere. This gown is minimalist glamour defined which means the styling has to be perfect. So I would finish this look with a sleek side parted low bun, defined eyes, red lips, a navy satin Roger Vivier floral crystal embellished buckle clutch, a pair of navy and black satin Roger Vivier ‘Viv Bling’ strappy platform sandals, and simple white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection teardrop earrings. Jenny Slate has never been to Cannes before and honestly I don’t know what it would have brought. Her stylist Monty Jackson isn’t one I think of being able to really handle Cannes in the major way. I would hope he would be able to deliver, but I’m not sure he would. When it comes to her red carpet style her past really didn’t inform the future much for what I wanted to see her wearing for her Cannes debut. So as I was looking I found two super chic Marchesa moments I think would definitely put Jenny on top Cannes worthy form. For the On The Rocks photocall I wanted to see Jenny wearing this Marchesa Pre-Fall 2020 ensemble which features a watercolor floral print cotton corset top with a square neckline, mutton sleeves, and ruffled trim and a pair of black cotton high-rise, straight-leg, dual slit pocket pants. The look is flirty and sophisticated. The perfect balance of bohemian and structure. I think that Jenny would definitely rock this look for the photocall styled with a bouncy teased curls, defined eyes, soft pink lips, black Sophia Webster ‘Dina’ multicolored gem embellished PVC strap mules, and a pair of Atelier Swarovski vintage rose pink, white, and sunshine yellow crystal ‘Botanical Jewels by Penelope Cruz’ teardrop earrings. For the premiere I looked at this dusty dark teal blue and nude Marchesa Fall 2020 RTW ruffled tulle ballgown which features a plunging v-neckline, a sleeveless a-line silhouette, plunging open back, a tiered ruffled skirt, and crystal embellishment throughout. The gown is just a classic Marchesa moment and I think that would have been a perfect option for Jenny to wear for her first trip up those famous steps of the Palais de Festivals. To complete this look I would style it with a sleek chignon updo, smokey eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of black Sophia Webster ‘Giovanna’ glittered leather slingback sandals, and a statement white diamond asymmetrical Butani draped 5 row necklace. It would ensure that Jenny delivered nothing but glamour from head to toe for her Cannes debut. Rashida Jones also stars in On The Rocks and would have been making her Cannes Film Festival debut this year. I usually either love or loathe what Rashida is wearing on the red carpet. I was hoping to see Rashida bring her a-game to Cannes. For the photocall I turned to The Vampire’s Wife, but with a different look than we are used to seeing from the brand thanks to this pink rose liberty print ‘The Kaftan’ cotton dress which features a high pussy-bow neckline, statement balloon sleeves, a self-tie belted waist, and a pleated midi skirt. This looks speaks to the more bohemian side of Rashida’s style and would have been perfect for the Cannes photocall platform overlooking the French Riviera. Style it with a wavy bob, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of ballet pink Jimmy Choo ‘LOVE’ asymmetrical crystal embellished pointed toe suede pumps, and Jennifer Meyer small pink sapphire embellished 18k yellow gold hoop earrings to make a great casual moment for Rashida. For the premiere I went for something that speaks more to the sleek and glamorous side of Rashida’s style with this black long sleeve Valentino Spring 2020 Couture fitted gown which features silver crystal circles down the sides of the arms and and body. Now those circles expose the skin underneath on the runway, but that isn’t something that Rashida would be down for. So I would have the ones down the sides of the body lined. I don’t think that would make the gown loose any of it’s runway appeal and would make it perfect for Rashida. Of course I would also make sure that this gown hits the floor perfectly for Rashida as well. To put the perfect finishing touches on this look I would style this gown with a sleek bob, defined eyes, bold red lips, a black ostrich feather embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ clutch, a pair of black suede Jimmy Choo ‘Teja’ crystal embellished pointed toe d’Orsay pumps, and Chopard Red Carpet collection emerald circle drop earrings surrounded in white diamonds. At 74 Helen Mirren is still showing girls more than half her age how fashion is done on the red carpet. I always look forward to seeing what she will bring to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet as an ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, so I am super disappointed that we have been deprived of a super glam moment from her this year due to the Cannes Corona Cancellation. Earlier this year as I was looking at the Spring 2020 Couture collections I saw this champagne gold Rami Kadi column gown which features a square neckline, corseted bodice, long caped sleeves, and embroidery in gold, silver, and iridescent sequins and immediately earmarked it as a perfect gown for Helen to wear in Cannes. So I couldn’t let me “What Could Have Been” series go by without featuring this paring. This gown is the perfect meshing of age appropriateness, sex appeal, glamour, and drama all rolled into one fabulous package. I know Helen would have delivered this gown with regal ease styling it with a sleek bob, defined eyes, punchy pink lips, a pewter silver crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, ombre silver glitter Jimmy Choo ‘LOVE’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of eco glam Chopard Green Carpet Collection sustainably sourced diamond jewels including a pair of simple drop earrings and a simple collar necklace. Spanish supermodel Nieves Alvarez has been a fixture on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for a while. Luxury jewelry company Bulgari is typically the one who sends her to walk the famed red carpet at the Palais. When it comes to glamour Nieves typically takes more of a dramatic approach when it comes to the red carpet. So as I was looking for looks for Nieves to wear in Cannes this year I went for DRAMA. In Cannes we usually see Nieves wearing Elie Saab, Stephane Rolland, or Alberta Ferretti. All labels which we are used to seeing Nieves wearing throughout the year. Labels she is a muse for. Instead of turning to one of those labels for this wish I went to Giambattista Valli Couture because this blush pink satin and tulle asymmetric ruffled gown from the brands Spring 2020 Couture collection just spoke to me. There aren’t many with the height and presence to pull this look off and Nieves has it. She knows how to push through more dramatic and complicated confections with regal elegance and that is what I would picture this moment becoming. Style it with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, bright pink lips, a rose pink satin Roger Vivier ‘Brochamour Envelope’ white and red crystal embellished crystal buckle clutch, a pair of rose gold glitter Christian Louboutin ‘Holly’ strappy cage sandals, and of course a selection of vintage Bulgari jewels including white diamond and ruby half wreath floral bouquet cluster earrings and a three row ruby and white diamond bracelet and I know that Nieves would have given us a major Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Benedetta”

Dutch maestro Paul Verhoeven’s medieval lesbian nun erotica Benedetta would also appear destined to be heading to the Croisette. Verhoeven made a sensational comeback four years ago in Cannes with eventual Oscar nominee ELLE. The subversive, lurid nature of the material feels like a perfect fit for his unique sensibilities. Also, the film stars esteemed veteran actors Charlotte Rampling, Lambert Wilson and current It-Girl of French cinema Virginie Efira. If not for the director’s health issues that prevented him from finishing post production last year, the film would probably have made a bow at the Cannes last year. So I would imagine that he will be holding the film for when Cannes finally reschedules. I’m not going to lie when I hear medieval lesbian nun erotica I do not exactly think of Charlotte Rampling. So I am really interested to see what this film will bring. Not only am I interested in seeing what the film will be like, but I am interested in seeing the cast promoting the film on the red carpet. Charlotte isn’t really a red carpet lady, but when she does walk a red carpet is usually wearing Armani Prive. So I turned to the Italian couture label for both of the looks I want to see Charlotte wearing while in Cannes promoting Benedetta. For the photocall I picked this black and white Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture suite which features a white circle pattern crocodile leather blazer and a pair of white leg wool pants. This look is super chic and very regal and that is what I really think is perfect for Charlotte. A black silk shell top, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of black Gianvito Rossi ‘Gianvito 85’ pointed toe pumps would definitely make sure this look just oozes sophistication. For the premiere I went with a black and nude shirred silk chiffon long sleeve a-line gown from the Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture collection which features a crystal embellished tiered skirt. Again this look screams regal sophistication and I think that it is the perfect look for Charlotte to bring to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, but it would have to be properly lined for her of course and styled with defined eyes, soft pink lips, the same Gianvito Rossi ‘Gianvito 85’ pumps from the photocall, and simple white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection cluster earrings. Clotilde Courau is Italian royalty and a French actress. She is a Cannes Film Festival red carpet regular and a star of Benedetta. So I am intrigued to see what she would bring to the festivals red carpet to promote this film. While we’ve seen Clotilde on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals many times I can’t remember her ever promoting a film at the festival. So I turned to two of Clotilde’s favorite labels to pick the perfect looks for her time in Cannes this year. First up I went with a super chic black sleeveless natural waisted a-line floral printed midi dress from the Valentino Spring 2020 RTW collection for the films photocall. It is a simple lady like moment and it would definitely be a chic casual moment for Clotilde especially styled with a whispy bob, defined eyes, nude lips, black suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Poppy’ strappy platform ankle strap sandals, and a pair of 18kt white gold Bulgari ‘Diva’s Dream’ earrings set with colored gemstones and pavé diamonds. For the premiere I turned to Elie Saab Fall 2019 Couture and this deep purple one shoulder ballgown which features a velvet bodice, bow detail, wide metal belted waist, a sheer layered skirt, gold floral embroidery throughout the skirt, and a sweeping train. This look is super glamorous and I feel like it is definitely something that Clotilde would be drawn to. A center parted updo, smokey eyes, pink lips, a pair of black oil slick iridescent Gianvito Rossi ‘Manhattan’ strappy sandals, and statement multi tone amethyst bead Bulgari High Jewelry tassel earrings would definitely make sure she delivers regal glamour. Virginie Efira starred alongside Isabelle Huppert in Paul Verhoeven’s last Cannes film ELLE. She has three Cesar Award, the French equivalent of the Oscars, nominations under her belt and has been a Cannes regular with three films screening in the last five years. She hasn’t worn any real big labels in the past, but as she is one of the top billed stars of Benedetta I hope that she gets herself good stylist and brings the fashion factor to the film festival. For the photocall it is all about color with this Gucci Pre-Fall 2020 ensemble which features a pool blue long sleeve billowing blouse and a pair of high waist red cropped pants with a sash belt. The look definitely is chic and effortless which is the French way and I think it would definitely make for a superb casual moment for Virginie to wear for the films photocall especially with loose waves, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of fun yet sensible black patent leather Gucci ‘Eleonor’ pointed toe strawberry detailed kitten heel slingback pumps. For the premiere I went to arguably the most iconic of French legacy houses: Chanel. I don’t see Virginie being able to snatch a hot off the runway couture look, so instead I turned to the Chanel Fall 2019 Couture collection and this black and iridescent thread tweed fit to flare gown which features a square neckline trimmed in purple sequin violet floral appliques. This gown is gorgeous beyond measure and it really is all the of up close details in the gown that make it have it’s subtle sparkle and shine. I would say this gown is the definition of high French effortless glamour and that is exactly what I want to see Virginie bring to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Styling this gown with a whispy romantic updo, deep purple smokey eyes, soft pink glossy lips, a pair of black satin & grosgrain Chanel slingback pointed toe pumps, and simple yet dazzling Chanel Haute Jewelry ‘7 Motif Russe’ white diamond drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Alessandra Ambrosio is almost always on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet at the guest of a jewelry brand. Be it Chopard, Bulgari, or de Grisogono (the three biggest names in Cannes jewelry) Alessandra showcases dramatic and sexy moments on the red carpet, while pairing her gowns with major jewelry moments. I went left of a traditional gown for Alessandra to rock on this years Cannes red carpet instead opting for a bit of dazzling disco inspiration with this rose pink sequin Rami Kadi Spring 2020 Couture asymmetric jumpsuit which features a dramatic cape sleeve. We don’t often see jumpsuits, or pants for that matter, on the ladies in Cannes, but if anyone could make it a really chic and sexy moment it would be Alessandra. I decided to say that Alessandra should be the guest of de Grisogono this year because I wanted to style this gown with a statement cabochon amethyst, cabochon rubellite, and pink sapphire collar necklace from the high jewelry label. Soft disco waves, defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, and a pair of rose gold Jimmy Choo ‘Pattie’ metallic leather peep toe ankle strap platform sandals all would make this a major moment for Alessandra to bring to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. L’Oreal Paris India spokesmodel Sonam Kapoor has been a Queen of Cannes over the years. She always bring super glam moments to the red carpets at the film festival. I am always excited to see what she Sonam will bring to the red carpet and so I would love to see her bring the glam this year wearing this rose pink origami draped Azzi & Osta Fall 2019 Couture one shoulder gown which features intricate ruffle details, an asymmetrical design, and a thigh high split. This gown is the perfect meshing of avant garde and classic glamour and I know that Sonam would pose the hell out of this gown on the red carpet. Styling the gown with a sleek retro updo, smokey eyes, dark rose pink lips, a pair of rose gold Rene Caovilla ‘Cleo’ crystal embellished coil strap sandals, and super dazzling Chopard Red Carpet Collection waterfall chandelier earrings in titanium set with pear-shaped amethysts for a total of 84 carats would definitely make this the absolutely major couture moment I know Sonam could deliver on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals in Cannes.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Ammonite”

A number of upcoming UK features were believed to have set their sights on autumn festivals before the pandemic hit including Francis Lee’s romantic drama Ammonite, starring Kate Winslet as Victorian fossil hunter Mary Anning opposite Saoirse Ronan. It is Lee’s second feature after God’s Own Country, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Now while it looked like it was set for a fall festival it also popped up in several Cannes Film Festival selection predictions. I think postponing the festival to the fall could see this film selected for the competition. So here we are with wishes to see it brought to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, if selected when it is finally rescheduled. Kate Winslet hasn’t been to the Cannes Film Festival since 1997. Since then she has won an Oscar and become a film legend. When it comes to fashion I don’t really get excited when I see Kate’s name pop up. She knows how to deliver glamour, but its usually very simple. You can see that reflected in the looks I’ve picked for her to wear while promoting Ammonite at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. For the photocall I went elegant suiting for Kate with this red Michael Kors Fall 2020 RTW ensemble which consists of a wool-gabardine blazer with a chain detail and a matching silk georgette pleated shirt dress with a neck tie. It is a perfect balance of structure and flow and I think that would make for a super chic photocall moment for Kate especially if styled with elegant waves, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of gold snakeskin Aquazzura ‘Forever 120’ cutout pointed toe pumps. For the premiere I went with classic glamour for Kate opting to put her in this black tiered strapless ruffle silk chiffon mermaid gown from the Alberta Ferretti Fall 2020 RTW collection. It is definitely something I can easily see Kate wearing for just about any red carpet. A sleek retro inspired updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Garden 120’ platform ankle strap peep toe sandals, and a statement Bulgari ‘Cinemagia’ white diamond geometric collar necklace would all ensure that Kate delivers elegant glamour from head to toe on the red carpet. Saoirse Ronan is one of the stars whose name I love seeing pop up for red carpets. She is always one who will take risks on the red carpet and I would have high expectations for Saoirse to bring to her Cannes Film Festival debut. She has been to the London Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, and the Berlin Film Festival in the past, but no other festival compares to the glamour we see in Cannes. For the Ammonite photocall I went with a modern take of the safari suit with this olive green Galvan Pre-Fall 2020 suit which features a ring belted double breasted blazer and a pair of high waisted flared trousers. It would be a really chic moment for Saoirse to bring to the Cannes photocall balcony which overlooks the water of the French Rivera. This look would definitely be that super chic casual moment for Saoirse with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of nude, white, & gold Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Lexi’ criss-cross strap pointed toe pumps, and Mateo New York ‘Ring of Pearl’ hoop with diamond ear jackets. For the premiere I want to see Alessandro Michele customize a look from the Gucci Pre-Fall 2020 collection for Saoirse. I saw this emerald green and red mini dress which features intricate black beaded embroidery throughout and fell in love with it. I was obsessed with this dress as soon as I saw it and thought immediately of Saoirse wearing a gown of this look. Now to customize it I would customize this Edwardian inspired look first removing the pink taffeta that is under the fringe of the sleeves and creating a floor length tiered skirt alternating red and green panels. Red and green together has the potential to read very Christmas-y, but I think that this look would definitely make this a really cool moment for Saoirse to wear for her very first Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Style the look with a sleek center parted updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of simple black suede Gucci strappy ankle strap sandals, and a pair of white diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection teardrop pendant drop earrings and everything about this look would scream high glam. It was teased that Adut Akech was expected to attend the Cannes Film Festival for the first time this year. As she has become one of the top models in the world it doesn’t surprise me that she was able to snag some coveted premiere invitations. For her debut on the red carpet into the Palais de Festivals I would love to see Adut wearing this chartreuse green silk satin Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture one sleeve ball gown which features asymmetrical fan details on the shoulder and hip as well as a daring thigh high asymmetrical hem and a dramatic train. I was originally going to honor her BFF status with Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli for her first Cannes Film Festival red carpet, but to be honest I feel like I am ready to see Adut branch out and become the red carpet icon like she has become a runway icon. So this statement look would definitely be a way for her to catch eyes. I think that Adut’s invites were going to come courtesy of festival sponsor Chopard, so I wanted to make sure that she had some major Chopard jewels were incorporated into the look. So a pair of major pink sapphire, tourmaline, peridot, amethyst, and sapphire paisley cluster earrings from the 2018 Chopard Red Carpet Collection would definitely add the perfect amount of sparkle to this look. To make sure this look is finished perfectly from head to toe I would style the gown with Adut’s signature buzzed hair, defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, and a pair of gold Christian Louboutin ‘Impera’ laser cut strappy pointed toe pumps.Praya Lundberg has been a L’Orealista, the fancy way of saying L’Oreal Paris spokesmodel, since 2015. Over the years in Cannes we have seen Praya go from super sexy in Versace to uber dramatic in Michael Cinco Couture. I want to see Praya deliver elegant glamour on this years red carpet wearing this champagne gold Rami Kadi Spring 2020 Couture crossover ball gown which features tiered ruffles embroidered with Swarovski and flower sequins, halter neckline, keyhole cutout, and a criss-cross open back. The look is super feminine glamour and I feel like it would make for a superb moment for Praya to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet as a L’Oreal ambassador. Styling the look with a sleek bun updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of nude gold Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas 100’ ankle strap crystal embellished metallic leather sandals, and a pair of de Grisogono champagne diamond fan earrings set in rose gold would ensure that Praya once again delivers a chic moment on this red carpet.

2020 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

Today I close out my Oscar parties wishes. The only thing that stands between you and my wishes for the actual Oscars ceremony red carpet now are my wishes for the Film Independent Spirit Awards which will be posted tomorrow. We are now less than a week to Oscar night. Unfortunately I will be on a work trip and unable to engage in the red carpet as much as I want to this year, but I am hoping that while I am working a trade show that stars are delivering superb Best Dressed of the Year worthy moments on the red carpet. I haven’t seen any yet this awards season, but I am holding out hope after the BAFTA red carpet last night shunned the “re-wear” and “sustainable” plea from the organization and delivered some of the best red carpet looks of the season. I am praying that this will continue through the week and end with a slew of knockout moments on Oscar night. I have high expectations, but trying to manage them so I can be blown away. Some of the wishes below are exactly that wishful thinking, but some of these (even the more realistic ones) could be a personal best for the ladies walking Oscar night red carpets.

Oscar Night 2020 is Sunday February 9, 2020.

2020 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Oscar night is always one of the most glamorous nights of the year. We can see upwards of 200+ looks on the red carpets of Oscar night. Despite the fact that last year I did not actually post a Best Dressed of the Year list an Oscar party look has never made the final cut for a BDOTY List. We have seen some superb moments on the red carpets at Oscar parties. I am specifically remembering Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a mint green Ralph & Russo Couture at the 2018 Vanity Fair Party. That look was in my final round of cuts for my 2018 Best Dressed of the Year list, though that was a really tough year to make the list. I hope that with some of the people who I am rumored to hear are making an Oscar night appearance will deliver some major moments as I was super underwhelmed with last year. In all of today’s wishes I am featuring some of the looks that are hot off the Paris Haute Couture runways, Pre-Fall 2020 looks I am dying to see on the red carpet, as well as looks from Spring 2020 RTW I don’t want to see lost to the archive, as well as couture archive moments I am still waiting to see on the red carpet. Honestly if just a 1/3 of these could come true then this could be one of the best Oscar nights ever.

Oscar Night 2020 is Sunday February 9, 2020.

2020 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Kicking off my final push to the Oscar night is a bunch of wishes I want to see brought to life on the red carpet at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Oscar night delivers literally hundreds of looks on the red carpet between the actual ceremony red carpet and telecast as well as the seemingly endless parties that take place. Now I actually know very little about who will be on the red carpet at the Oscar parties, but I try my best to give you an idea of who we may see. To come up with the people you will see in these wishes I pull names of people who are nominated and presenting at the actual Oscar ceremony, the co-chairs of the Elton John AIDS Foundation Gala, guests who are confirmed to attend pre-Oscar events, past regular attendees, and of course people whom I love/people whom I want to see specific wearing specific looks on the red carpet. So in the 36 looks in today’s set of Oscar party wishes feature everything from cocktail looks to couture ballgowns and pretty much everything in between. I am really hoping that Oscar night is the shining beacon in an awards season where fashion has been almost lackluster.

Oscar Night 2020 is Sunday February 9, 2020.

63 Looks From Spring 2020 Couture I Want To See On The Red Carpet

I started off Paris Haute Couture Spring 2020 Fashion Week with the intention of having a post the next morning of the favorite looks I had seen the day before with who I most want to see wearing those looks. Well life got in the way. Tuesday night I saw Celine Dion and slept as long as I could before heading to work the next day. Wednesday I had to take my mother to a doctors appointment first thing in the morning and lost my little bit of weekday morning blog time. So by then I just decided well day one is already up, but I will just do a round up including all the shows with 1-4 looks from each show being featured in one big round up list. So that is what I did. As I was putting this list together I realized that this is basically a precursor to my 2020 Cannes Film Festival wishes with major looks for L’Orealistas like Sonam Kapoor, Eva Longoria, Araya A. Hargate, Aishwarya Rai, Helen Mirren, and more to bring to life on the red carpet. It can also be a prediction for you all as it comes to what my Oscar party wishes may look like. Overall this season was very good. Aside from my now perennial favorites Givenchy and Valentino there wasn’t really much of a stand out as far as an entire collection, save maybe Armani Prive, but there were a ton of really amazing moments that are just waiting to be seen on a red carpet. I hope you are ready to see more of these looks, see some of these wishes below detailed out, and more on the race to the Oscars, Met Gala, and the Cannes Film Festival. I honestly do not know which wish here is my favorite; what’s yours?

2020 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

The 2020 Grammy’s are tomorrow night and I don’t know what exactly happened from Monday to now, but I have lost my excitement for this red carpet. With every press release of new performances, Grammy moment announcements, and the release of the list of presenters I just got less and less enthused. While I went into this week hoping that the Grammy’s were going to be a bright spot in a rather bland awards season thus far I am growing ever more weary that will be the case. I always loved the Grammy’s for the fact that nominated stars showed up no matter what. Some of the other music awards shows almost seem disingenuous with handing out awards. One nominated star will be in the audience per category and you know they are the one that will be taking home the award. That wasn’t the case with the Grammy’s. That all seemed to change this week as ousted Grammy CEO Deborah Dugan went public with tales of sexism, vote rigging, and more. So I can see why some of the biggest names in music are stepping back from this years show. Now all of the stars in this set of wishes are confirmed to be presenters, performers, and nominees at tomorrows show. If I had to guess I would say that the likeliness of seeing Lady Gaga or Michelle Obama is rather slim as they are just nominated and are not expected to present or perform and as a plus one and a major player in the #TimesUp movement I don’t know if we will see Nicole Kidman on the arm of hubby Keith Urban who is presenting. Later today I am going to post 63 of my favorite looks form the recently presented Spring 2020 Couture collections, and I guess you could count this list as an extention of that as seven of the looks in this list are hot off the runway. I do feel like these are some of my favorite wishes so far this awards season. I think it is because that at the Grammy’s anything goes and you can really have fun with looks and that is definitely what I did here. Oh and just a little tidbit of information for you I was looking through the Atelier Versace Spring 2020 Couture lookbook this week and Donatella named each of the looks presented and when I saw that the gown I picked for Ariana Grande to wear on this red carpet was named Ariana I knew I had to put this wish into the universe because I definitely believe it is right up her glam.

The 2020 Grammy Awards will take place tomorrow night Sunday January 26, 2020.

2020 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The 2020 Golden Globe Awards are this Sunday and I am super excited to see what everyone is going to bring to the red carpet after the unofficial kick off to awards season last night at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Black Tie Awards Gala. Since we are so close to the actual event and I have been super behind (THANK YOU HOLIDAYS) I am just going to put up galleries with all my wishes between today and tomorrow so be on the look out. This first set of wishes features looks for 20 nominees, presenters, guests of nominated films, and plus ones to bring to life on the red carpet at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards. This red carpet is deemed the most formal affair of awards season until the Oscars so I am definitely hoping that the stars go big or go home. Some of my favorite moments in this list include the gowns for Camilla Marrone, Reese Witherspoon, Katherine Langford, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, and Jodie Comer. Who are you excited to see on this red carpet and more importantly what do you want them to wear?
