2020 Deauville American Film Festival Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

Tomorrow we kick off my wishes for the 2020 Venice Film Festival, which is confirmed to be an in person event this year, but before I do that I still have have 5 more wishes for the Deauville American Film Festival. It is also going to be among the first of in person events held amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. I don’t quite know what the festival will actually look like as Europe has travel restrictions on Americans entering the continent because we suck at social distancing as a whole. So while I am putting wishes into the universe for stars to give us glamor moments in Deauville I’m not holding my breath that there will be a whole host of Hollywood starlets walking the red carpets at the festival. I almost passed on including Dianna Agron in these wishes. Her film Shiva Baby is going to be screening at the festival, but I have honestly fallen out of the love with Dianna’s style. Back in the height of GLEE I loved to feature Dianna in my wishes, but since the series ended she hasn’t been one of my favorites anymore. Now with that in mind my wish for her to bring to life on the red carpet at the Deauville American Film Festival would definitely put her back on the right track. I adore this hot pink one shoulder ruched silk Oscar de la Renta Fall 2020 RTW draped gown as it was presented on the runway, but for Dianna I would like to see the gold velvet belt it was styled with on the runway. I feel like this gown with a sleek teased updo, defined eyes, glossy light pink lips, a hot pink Judith Leiber Couture ‘Fizzoni’ crystal embellished envelope clutch, sand pink satin Aquazzura crustal embellished bow heel detailed ankle strap sandals, and a pair of Kwiat ‘American Beauty’ pear and marquise cut white diamond feather like drop earrings would definitely be a major glamour moment for Dianna. Kajillionare premiered earlier this year for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival and is now going to screen at the Deauville American Film Festival. As I was watching the Dior Cruise 2021 collection show online I saw this light brown floaty chiffon caftan style gown which features and intricate embossed leather bustier and Evan Rachel Wood immediately came to mind. While I wasn’t a huge fan of this collection as a whole and it was a regression to more of the same for Maria Grazia Chiuri I feel like this gown on Evan would be a major fashion moment. I always believe that even with the most mundane looks that if they are styled right on the right person that a Best Dressed of the Year list worthy moment could be on our hands. Now I would take this gown style it with a retro glam updo, defined eyes, deep red lips, a pair of nude suede Aquazzura ‘So Vera’ crystal embellished strappy sandals, and a pair of antique gold girandole drop earrings from Kentshire for Evan and I think it could be that simply major moment I am imagining.  We’ve never seen Gina Rodriguez work the red carpet at a major red carpet film festival. I would love to see her make the trip to France to promote Kajillionare at the Deauville American Film Festival. While unfortunately I don’t know if that will be the case. If it is I want her to go full glam for the red carpet wearing this black and white satin Rasario Fall 2020 RTW strapless pleat detailed a-line ball gown. I really believe that Gina would look absolutely glamorous wearing this gown especially if styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Galativi’ suede and mesh pointed toe pumps, and statement white diamond and emerald Butani drop earrings. Last year The Assistant star Julia Garner caught my eye as one to watch. We haven’t really seen much of her this year except for a navy and white Ralph Lauren jumpsuit at the Berlin Film Festival where she also promoted the same film. So I would love to see her in Deauville bringing the glam to the red carpet. As I was putting this list together I knew pretty quickly that I wanted to see Julia wearing this rose pink sequin Monique Lhuillier Fall 2020 RTW slim fit, column silhouette gown which features a lace-up detail, v-cut neckline and long poet sleeves. It is an effortless glam moment and I believe that Julia would definitely be able to sell it to me on the red carpet. Style it with a curly updo, defined eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, petal pink Giuseppe Zanotti crystal embellished three strap sandals, and vintage art deco platinum set white diamond drop earrings from Neil Lane Couture and I know that Julia would show me why I put her on my ones to watch radar in the first place. Ammonite was supposed to screen at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. When the Cannes officially announced their selection this film was one of the only ones I was really sad we were missing out on a premiere for because of Saoirse Ronan. So when I saw that the film would be screening in Deauville I wanted to make sure I included her. She is always one I am excited to see on the red carpet. She knows how to take risks and really deliver. I went for more of a modern ballerina vibe than an avant garde look for Saoirse opting for this neutral Khaite Fall 2020 RTW ‘Mariah’ tulle midi gown which features a drop-waist silhouette, an a-line pleated skirt, semi-sheer paneling on the waist, v-cut neckline, and butterfly sleeves. This glamorous moment on Saoirse would look absolutely beautiful on the red carpet at the Deauville Film Festival, especially if styled with a sleek asymmetric knotted updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a pair of gold Sophia Webster ‘Dina’ gem studded PVC strap mule sandals, and beautiful multi colored fancy stone and white diamond Bulgari ‘Barocko’ Collection drop earrings.

The 2020 Deauville American Film Festival will open on September 4, 2020 and run through September 14, 2020.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “The French Dispatch”

Wes Anderson has used the Berlin International Film Festival to launch his last two feature films, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs” but 2020 was supposed to mark the auteur’s big return to Cannes with his new project, The French Dispatch. Anderson was last at Cannes with Moonrise Kingdom, which world premiered on the opening night of the 2012 event. Searchlight’s original July release date for The French Dispatch positioned Cannes as the perfect destination for a world premiere. Now we can expect the film to be released mid-October, so maybe we will see The French Dispatch in Venice. But for now let us continue to fantasize about what could have been had the film had it’s world premiere in Cannes. For a festival that loves stars, it would not have gotten better than the red carpet for The French Dispatch: Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Timothee Chalamet, Lea Seydoux, Benicio del Toro, Elisabeth Moss, Owen Wilson, Frances McDormand, and more. I was expecting this film to open this years festival with a glamorous bang. Elisabeth Moss doesn’t really ever wow me on the red carpet, but I always try to keep my expectations up. So I picked two superb fashion moments I think that Elisabeth would bring to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpets. For the first look I would have loved to see Elisabeth give us a MAJOR vintage moment wearing this black Courreges wool, chiffon, and sequin striped A-line shift coat dress that zips up front and features a nude net underlay, cap sleeves, pocket details, and a v-neckline from The Way We Wore. Elisabeth’s stylist Karla Welch loves to put her clients in vintage and I saw this dress and immediately thought of how amazing Elisabeth would look in it and it would have definitely been a major photocall moment. It isn’t a typical look I would pick for a Cannes photocall being an all black look, but I feel like on Elisabeth this look would have been super chic especially styled with a loose wavy bob, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Galativi’ velour and mesh paneled pointed toe pumps. For the premiere I went back to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first couture collection for Dior. I was looking for the perfect gown for Elisabeth and when I saw this black tulle and velvet ball gown from the Christian Dior Spring 2017 Couture collection which feature intricate pressed flower detail on the nude underskirt and it just spoke to me. It is a super feminine glamour moment and Elisabeth loves herself some Dior by MGC so why not pull out one of her best looks for the house to give it a moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I love this feminine moment and I would love to see Elisabeth bring it to life with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, black Francesco Russo asymmetrical patent leather pumps, and a selection of Cartier High Jewelry including a pair of white diamond and pink morganite drop earrings and a vintage white diamond bracelet. It would ensure that Elisabeth would have had her best fashion moments in a long time. Lea Seydoux had several films in consideration for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival and The French Dispatch was a shoo-in to screen at this years festival. I miss the glamorous days of Lea’s style when she would give big grand fashion moments on the red carpets. That was way back before she signed her Louis Vuitton contract. I would have loved to see Lea step out of LV for a moment during this years festival giving us a variety of chic looks from a variety of labels on the Cannes Film Festival red carpets. The step away from LV I wanted for Lea while promoting The French Dispatch was with this brown animal print Prada egyptian cotton asymmetrical a-line dress. I really miss the days of Lea as an unofficial ambassador for Prada and this casual dress for the photocall would have definitely fed my soul. Now I wouldn’t have completely made Lea leave LV behind styling this look with a cream leather and brown monogram canvas Louis Vuitton ‘Locky BB’ top handle bag (for arriving and leaving the photocall), a pair of brown monogram and clear PVC detail Louis Vuitton ‘Cherie’ pointed toe ankle strap pumps, and black and brown Louis Vuitton ‘La Boum Canvas’ cat eye sunglasses. I would finish this look with a chic retro half up/half down hairstyle, defined eyes, and soft pink lips. Now for the premiere, especially if it was the opening ceremony, I would not have expected that Lea would have worn anything other than Louis Vuitton on the red carpet. So I would have loved to see Nicholas Ghesquiere create a custom gown for Lea inspired by this silver grey and black floral beaded pencil dress from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2020 RTW collection. This dress turned into a glamorous floor length gown with a ruched sash waist which turns into a glamorous train would definitely have made for an extremely elegant moment for Lea to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. A retro glam updo, defined eyes, red lips, white diamond stud earrings, a pair of black mesh Louis Vuitton ‘Urban Twist’ silver cap toe pointed toe pumps, and a statement white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection rose cut diamond collar necklace would definitely ensure that this would have oozed glamour. Had Saoirse Ronan made the trip to Cannes to promote The French Dispatch this year it would have been the first time she would have walked that famous red carpet. Now this isn’t the first movie that Saoirse has been a part of that has screed at the festival. She was in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River which screened in the Un Certain Regard section of the festival in 2014. Back then Saoirse really wasn’t a style star. Now she has fully cemented her fashionista status and I would have LOVED seeing her bringing glamour to Cannes starting with 70’s effortlessness with this Gucci Pre-Fall 2020 ensemble which features a white and navy chevron stripe crocheted halter top and a pair of high waisted flared cuff jeans to wear for The French Dispatch photocall. I knew immediately when it came to Cannes that this would have been a super call photocall moment and when I was picking looks for Saoirse it clicked as the right moment for her to bring to life. I would love to see Saoirse keep that 70’s vibe alive with a chic wavy hairstyle, defined eyes, tangerine lip color, and a pair of blood orange Gucci block heel ankle strap chunky platform sandals to really make this look scream effortless bohemian elegance. Now for the premiere I’ve decided I wanted to see Saoirse’s stylist Elizabeth Saltzman cook up a custom Armani Prive moment. I was looking for a perfect gown for Saoirse that would have been worthy of a Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony and I just couldn’t find a full runway look I was excited about. I was however thoroughly inspired by the beaded fringe details that adorned bodices of gowns from the Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture collection. So I thought why not use that as the jumping point for a major custom gown? The black, white, blue, and emerald green beading in these two fringes is beautiful. For the custom gown I would have wanted to keep the strapless sweetheart bodice from the look with the white beading then creating a tiered fringe column silhouette out of the green, blue, and black fringe from the other bodice. Honestly, this has potential to be one of my favorite gowns that Saoirse has ever worn. It was easy to imagine this custom gown and I do imagine that Saoirse would make this a dazzling moment with a sleek sculptural updo, emerald greed defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of metallic melon green Miu Miu jewel embellished slingback sandals, and a pair of dazzling Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond and emerald twist teardrop earrings. Tilda Swinton has been attending the Cannes Film Festival since 1987. Over the years she has screened 10 films at the festival, served on the feature film jury in 2004, and as a member of the short films jury in 2002. Of the 10 films that she has screened at the festival two have opened the festival and one has closed the festival. I always look forward to seeing what moments Tilda will bring to the red carpet. She is a fashionista who isn’t afraid to take risks and wear unusual things. With that being said the two looks I’ve picked for Tilda to wear in Cannes to promote The French Dispatch are more classics that I think that she would be able to sell with great aplomb starting with this white and black tailored Alexander McQueen Fall 2020 RTW sleeveless dress which features defined padded shoulders, belted waist, and a high low midi hem. This look is a balance of corporate and military inspiration and I just know in my soul that Tilda would sell this look to me with effortless ease. It doesn’t need a lot of styling, and that isn’t Tilda’s vibe anyway, so I would finish this look with a pushed back coif, defined eyes, bold red lips, and a pair of deep red satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Butina’ asymmetrical strap half d’Orsay pointed toe pumps. For the premiere I went with bold sleek glamour opting to put Tilda in this red Valentino Spring 2020 Couture long sleeve column gown which features a turtleneck , satin cuffs, and a pooling train. This sleek moment is definitely within Tilda’s sense of style and I think that it would be a major moment for her to bring to life in Cannes. Again I wouldn’t do much in terms styling keeping this look super sleek with a high coif, defined eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of tabasco red Gianvito Rossi ‘Montecarlo’ crystal ankle strap pointed toe d’Orsay pumps. With such a star filled cast, and I didn’t even include everyone, I didn’t include any of the Cannes regulars whom I’ve included in all of my other wishes for this years festival. So closing out today’s wishes are two looks for The French Dispatch star Timothee Chalamet. We have seen Timmy take on the Berlin, Venice, San Sebastian, and London Film Festivals, but this would have been his Cannes debut. Regular readers will know that since he burst onto the scene in 2017 with Call Me By Your Name that I have been obsessed with Timothee’s style. He is all about his avant garde menswear and I really wanted to see him bring high fashion menswear to the red carpets in Cannes this year. For the photocall I went directly to floral silk pajamas from the Sies Marjan Fall 2020 RTW collection. There are very few men out there who could rock this co-ord in Cannes or anywhere, but that is what I love about Timothee. He would rock this look with effortlessness pairing it with white Christian Louboutin ‘Happy Rui Flat’ mesh sneakers. For the premiere I went for GLAMOUR picking this Alexander McQueen Fall 2020 Menswear ensemble which features a gold beaded snake detail coat, a white button up, slim fit pants that continue that beading, and a pair of black leather boots with a gold toe cap. The look is very much Timothee and would have definitely made waves in the world of red carpet menswear on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Ammonite”

A number of upcoming UK features were believed to have set their sights on autumn festivals before the pandemic hit including Francis Lee’s romantic drama Ammonite, starring Kate Winslet as Victorian fossil hunter Mary Anning opposite Saoirse Ronan. It is Lee’s second feature after God’s Own Country, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Now while it looked like it was set for a fall festival it also popped up in several Cannes Film Festival selection predictions. I think postponing the festival to the fall could see this film selected for the competition. So here we are with wishes to see it brought to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, if selected when it is finally rescheduled. Kate Winslet hasn’t been to the Cannes Film Festival since 1997. Since then she has won an Oscar and become a film legend. When it comes to fashion I don’t really get excited when I see Kate’s name pop up. She knows how to deliver glamour, but its usually very simple. You can see that reflected in the looks I’ve picked for her to wear while promoting Ammonite at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. For the photocall I went elegant suiting for Kate with this red Michael Kors Fall 2020 RTW ensemble which consists of a wool-gabardine blazer with a chain detail and a matching silk georgette pleated shirt dress with a neck tie. It is a perfect balance of structure and flow and I think that would make for a super chic photocall moment for Kate especially if styled with elegant waves, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of gold snakeskin Aquazzura ‘Forever 120’ cutout pointed toe pumps. For the premiere I went with classic glamour for Kate opting to put her in this black tiered strapless ruffle silk chiffon mermaid gown from the Alberta Ferretti Fall 2020 RTW collection. It is definitely something I can easily see Kate wearing for just about any red carpet. A sleek retro inspired updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Garden 120’ platform ankle strap peep toe sandals, and a statement Bulgari ‘Cinemagia’ white diamond geometric collar necklace would all ensure that Kate delivers elegant glamour from head to toe on the red carpet. Saoirse Ronan is one of the stars whose name I love seeing pop up for red carpets. She is always one who will take risks on the red carpet and I would have high expectations for Saoirse to bring to her Cannes Film Festival debut. She has been to the London Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, and the Berlin Film Festival in the past, but no other festival compares to the glamour we see in Cannes. For the Ammonite photocall I went with a modern take of the safari suit with this olive green Galvan Pre-Fall 2020 suit which features a ring belted double breasted blazer and a pair of high waisted flared trousers. It would be a really chic moment for Saoirse to bring to the Cannes photocall balcony which overlooks the water of the French Rivera. This look would definitely be that super chic casual moment for Saoirse with a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of nude, white, & gold Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Lexi’ criss-cross strap pointed toe pumps, and Mateo New York ‘Ring of Pearl’ hoop with diamond ear jackets. For the premiere I want to see Alessandro Michele customize a look from the Gucci Pre-Fall 2020 collection for Saoirse. I saw this emerald green and red mini dress which features intricate black beaded embroidery throughout and fell in love with it. I was obsessed with this dress as soon as I saw it and thought immediately of Saoirse wearing a gown of this look. Now to customize it I would customize this Edwardian inspired look first removing the pink taffeta that is under the fringe of the sleeves and creating a floor length tiered skirt alternating red and green panels. Red and green together has the potential to read very Christmas-y, but I think that this look would definitely make this a really cool moment for Saoirse to wear for her very first Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Style the look with a sleek center parted updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of simple black suede Gucci strappy ankle strap sandals, and a pair of white diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection teardrop pendant drop earrings and everything about this look would scream high glam. It was teased that Adut Akech was expected to attend the Cannes Film Festival for the first time this year. As she has become one of the top models in the world it doesn’t surprise me that she was able to snag some coveted premiere invitations. For her debut on the red carpet into the Palais de Festivals I would love to see Adut wearing this chartreuse green silk satin Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture one sleeve ball gown which features asymmetrical fan details on the shoulder and hip as well as a daring thigh high asymmetrical hem and a dramatic train. I was originally going to honor her BFF status with Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli for her first Cannes Film Festival red carpet, but to be honest I feel like I am ready to see Adut branch out and become the red carpet icon like she has become a runway icon. So this statement look would definitely be a way for her to catch eyes. I think that Adut’s invites were going to come courtesy of festival sponsor Chopard, so I wanted to make sure that she had some major Chopard jewels were incorporated into the look. So a pair of major pink sapphire, tourmaline, peridot, amethyst, and sapphire paisley cluster earrings from the 2018 Chopard Red Carpet Collection would definitely add the perfect amount of sparkle to this look. To make sure this look is finished perfectly from head to toe I would style the gown with Adut’s signature buzzed hair, defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, and a pair of gold Christian Louboutin ‘Impera’ laser cut strappy pointed toe pumps.Praya Lundberg has been a L’Orealista, the fancy way of saying L’Oreal Paris spokesmodel, since 2015. Over the years in Cannes we have seen Praya go from super sexy in Versace to uber dramatic in Michael Cinco Couture. I want to see Praya deliver elegant glamour on this years red carpet wearing this champagne gold Rami Kadi Spring 2020 Couture crossover ball gown which features tiered ruffles embroidered with Swarovski and flower sequins, halter neckline, keyhole cutout, and a criss-cross open back. The look is super feminine glamour and I feel like it would make for a superb moment for Praya to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet as a L’Oreal ambassador. Styling the look with a sleek bun updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of nude gold Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas 100’ ankle strap crystal embellished metallic leather sandals, and a pair of de Grisogono champagne diamond fan earrings set in rose gold would ensure that Praya once again delivers a chic moment on this red carpet.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 21

Someone needs to stop me. I now have 39 sets of wishes for this years Met Gala red carpet. I don’t think I can even think of any more celebrity possibility I think could walk this years red carpet. I have models, musicians, actresses, sports stars, and many more. I am really excited for when this years red carpet will finally happen after the whole COVID-19 crisis has started to subside. We are looking at so many rescheduled events that by the time this red carpet happens I may not have time to make all these wishes. So with this being one of the few events where I have control over who gets featured it made sense for me to use this time and space to escape from reality and put out as many wishes for this years Met Gala exhibit as possible. Each of the looks in today’s wishes fit perfect with this years theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” but on brand for each star and for each label. By this time next year I think Billie Eilish will be well on her way to EGOT status. She already has 5 Grammy awards, and with the fact she is the the songwriter (with her brother Finneas) and vocalist for the next Bond theme “No Time To Die” I think she may add an Golden Globe and an Oscar to her list of awards. After some major Gucci and Chanel moments on the red carpets of awards season and knowing that Billie was the cover star of the March issue of Vogue I will imagine that she will be on the Met Gala red carpet this year. She just might be this years performer. While I am not personally a fan of Billie’s always oversized streetwear inspired style, but I have to say that since she burst onto the scene I have seen looks that seem geared towards her being sent down the runways of lots of the major fashion houses. I thought about doing something different for Billie, bit ultimately I decided to pick this navy silk Balenciaga Fall 2020 RTW co-ord which is like a tracksuit meets pajamas. This look is obviously Billie. There is not modification needed. Does it work for the theme? Yes in Billie’s way. Now I really want to see Billie go for it with the styling. I would really like to see her swap out her lime green roots for aqua blue (you will see why as the styling continues) styled in sleek center parted locks. Add defined eyes, rosy pink cheeks, soft pink lips, a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Diamond’ crystal embellished sneakers, and A LOT of Stephen Webster jewels including simple ‘Magnipheasant’ white gold pave white diamond feather earstuds with black diamonds, a ‘Deco Haze Armadillo’ long finger ring, a ‘Vertigo’ white gold, black enamel, and white diamond obtuse geometric ring, a white diamond ‘Magnipheasant’ plumage three finger ring, and a ‘Magnipheasant’ blue tanzanite and white diamond cocktail ring to make sure there is a lot of sparkle in this look for Billie. With this years theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” I have mostly focused on that timeless glamour vibe for most. Sticking to the heyday of classic glamour as the inspiration for most of my wishes here. But 150 years of fashion gives a lot of variety in inspiration for designers, stylist, and stars to draw on when it comes to the looks we will see on this years red carpet. The more I meditate on the Gucci Fall 2020 RTW collection the more I realize that Alessandro Michele took this years Met Gala theme and ran with it for the inspiration for his collection. Now the moment I saw this robe à la française meets saloon girl meets Victorian vampiress I said Samantha McMillan needs to get her hands on it. I honestly believe that she is the only stylist out there that could really make this look work. This look definitely skews a little more into the costume-y vibe, so the Met Gala red carpet is really the only place I feel like this gown could work. I went back and forth between a couple of Samantha’s clients to pick the perfect one to wear this gown ultimately I thought that Evan Rachel Wood would be PERFECT. Now it might be because the look made me think of Westworld, but I really do think that Evan would be the perfect person to bring this look to life on this red carpet. A loose romantic updo, smokey eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of silver metallic leather Gucci crystal chandelier embellished strappy sandals, and a beautiful antique belle epoque Victorian diamond staggered floral inspired collar necklace would definitely make this a real statement moment.Am I the only one who is SHOCKED that Keira Knightley has never been to the Met Gala before? The British actress and face of Chanel is definitely a fashion girl, especially back in the 2000’s. So how has she never attended is beyond me. While the expected choice in terms of designer for Keira to wear for the Met Gala is obviously Chanel I decided to go left picking a look from one of Keira’s other go-to designers. Keira has worn looks from Erdem many times over the years and I feel like her aesthetic fits perfectly with the label. So instead of the classic Chanel look I decided to put Keira in a modified version of this silver metallic lace Erdem Fall 2020 RTW tea length gown which features ruffled cap sleeves, jewel neckline, drop waist, and a ruffled skirt. The dress as presented on the runway is definitely something Keira would be drawn to, but to make the look Met Gala red carpet ready I would love to see Erdem modify the look to have a defined waist, a ruffled skirt to hit the floor, and a long dramatic train. This look would give off Victorian meets 30’s vibes and to me that is exactly what Keira delivers on the red carpet so well. Now I wouldn’t let this look be completely devoid of Chanel adding a pair of black silk crepe and grosgrain Chanel star embellished round toe pumps, a pair of Chanel Haute Jewelry ‘Secrets Dorients Perles’ white diamond and pearl dream catcher drop earrings and a ‘Roubachka’ cuff bracelet in white gold, cultured pearls and diamonds to make sure her ambassadorial duties are covered. A beauty look that includes a chic romantic curly updo, smokey eyes, pirate red Chanel ‘Rouge Allure’ luminous intense lips, contoured cheeks, and radiant rouge nior Chanel ‘Le Vernis’ longwear nail color on her nails all would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Taking the theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” and running with it could see stars, designers, and stylists seeking inspiration in a lot of different ways. Now I would imagine that most will take inspiration from the era’s in the 150 years of fashion that will be featured in the exhibition. Some might be inspired by clocks. For this look for Saoirse Ronan I decided that taking inspiration from astrology is perfect. Mary Katrantzou has yet to put out a Fall 2020 RTW collection so I picked a couple of looks from her MAJOR Spring 2020 RTW collection I think need red carpet moments. So I would love to see Saoirse wearing this midnight blue a-line halter neck gown appropriately named ‘Astronomy’ made in glitter flocked tulle and embroidered with silver Swarovski crystals in an interlocking astrological star chart pattern. Before technology stars were used to tell time, navigate, and mark location. So what better way to interpret the theme in a bit of an unexpected manner. Now on the runway the neck of the gown as paired with a Bulgari High Jewelry white diamond and sapphire collar necklace and I would reach out to Bulgari to make sure we had the same necklace for Saoirse finishing the look with a sleek braided knot bun, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of midnight blue satin Roger Vivier ‘Mini Stars’ plateau strappy chunky heel sandals. Over the years Zhang Ziyi has sporadically attended several Met Galas. She has rocked looks from Carolina Herrera, Jason Wu, Armani Prive, and Marchesa. Honestly I would love to see Zhang reach back into her personal archive and wear either the Armani Prive gown she wore in 2008 or the Marchesa gown she wore in 2007. That would be a great interpretation of the theme talking about how how fashion can endure the times. Now while that would be amazing I decided for this set of wishes to pick a hot off the runway look for Zhang to bring to life on the red carpet at this years Met Gala putting her in this black and white Givenchy Fall 2020 RTW gown which features a billowing white jersey bodice with abstract black fringe beading, long sleeves with tinsel fringe detail, and an a-line tulle skirt completely covered in the tinsel fringe. Now the gown doesn’t have a train, but like most of the looks I have featured I would love to see Claire Waight Keller add a train to this look to make it super dramatic for this red carpet. Now the gown is perfectly dramatic on it’s own so I would keep the styling simple with either old Hollywood waves or a sleek bun updo, defined eyes, bold red lips with a slight shine, a pair of simple black leather strappy Givenchy ankle strap stiletto sandals, and a bit more sparkle via white diamond and emerald Chopard Red Carpet Collection paisley earclips.

Milan Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List

As they say fashion week stops for nothing. Well this season the Coronavirus tried to shut down the bi-annual Milan Fashion Week, and only partially succeeded. While the theaters on the final day of Milan Fashion Week might have been devoid of the usual guests of editors, buyers, celebrities, and influencers the shows still went on with those aforementioned people watching the collections come down the runway via a livestream from their hotel rooms. Overall I feel like while in shear number I was disappointed in the offerings that came out of Milan, but overall the quality of moment far exceeded both New York and London. In my wishes below you will find some absolutely major wishes for which I am now sending major positive energy out into the universe to manifest the red carpet moments and keep be excited about fashion. After loosing inspiration towards the end of last year and a mostly lackluster and rushed awards season the looks below give me hope that this year will have major glamour moments in store for us.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

Closing out my wishes for the looks that came down the runway during New York Fashion Week from the Fall 2020 RTW collections. This season I noticed how even more diverse my wishes were. Designers who typically design for one type of person seemed to open to the most diverse set of starlets who I can picture wearing the looks on the red carpet. Now of course the people I see wearing the looks below are just my personal opinion, but I definitely think that the red carpets over the next several months that will include the Tribeca Film Festival, the No Time To Die promo tour, the Met Gala, the Cannes Film Festival, the Tony Awards, and more will see some major fashion moments. We are already seeing the looks from NYFW brought to life on the red carpet and the looks are phenomenal. I can’t wait to see what the next several months have in store. So enjoy these wishes and stay tuned my wishes for the runways of London Fashion Week are coming for you soon!

New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 RTW Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

New York Fashion Week happened later than normal. We got to see some previews of the collections on the SAG Awards, Grammy Awards, and Oscars red carpets. I was honestly really surprised by just how strong the collections shown during New York Fashion Week. These runways make me really excited for the red carpets over the next several months. The glamorous looks that span looks perfect for everything from the sidewalk to the red carpet. We will see many of the looks from these collections on the red carpet and below are just 55 early predictions of who I would love to see bring some of my favorite looks to walk the New York Fashion Week runways to life on the red carpet.

2020 Academy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Today kicks off my wishes for the 2020 Academy Awards. We are finally in the home stretch of awards season. It all comes down to the red carpet this Sunday night at the Oscars. The BAFTA Awards delivered the fashion moments I have been craving all awards season. I don’t know if I had set the bar low following the request from BAFTA that guest re-wear things already in their closets, which only the Duchess of Cambridge and Joaquin Phoenix did, but I was quite pleasantly surprised. I am hoping that after I was super disappointed in the Oscars red carpet for the most part last year that everyone will deliver superb fashion moments from nominees and presenters to performers and guests. Kicking off my wishes are a bunch of this years nominees, three of whom I am expecting are going to take home little gold men, one of last years winners who is back as a presenter this year, a performance look for a nominee, a couple of other presenters, and Billie Eilish who will be giving an undisclosed “special performance” on Sunday night. All of these looks are ready to be brought to life on quite possibly the most important red carpet of the year. I have my hopes high, but I am also trying to manage my expectations so that I am not disappointed in what stars choose to wear on this years red carpet.

The 2020 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday February 9, 2020.

2020 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Kicking off my final push to the Oscar night is a bunch of wishes I want to see brought to life on the red carpet at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Oscar night delivers literally hundreds of looks on the red carpet between the actual ceremony red carpet and telecast as well as the seemingly endless parties that take place. Now I actually know very little about who will be on the red carpet at the Oscar parties, but I try my best to give you an idea of who we may see. To come up with the people you will see in these wishes I pull names of people who are nominated and presenting at the actual Oscar ceremony, the co-chairs of the Elton John AIDS Foundation Gala, guests who are confirmed to attend pre-Oscar events, past regular attendees, and of course people whom I love/people whom I want to see specific wearing specific looks on the red carpet. So in the 36 looks in today’s set of Oscar party wishes feature everything from cocktail looks to couture ballgowns and pretty much everything in between. I am really hoping that Oscar night is the shining beacon in an awards season where fashion has been almost lackluster.

Oscar Night 2020 is Sunday February 9, 2020.

2020 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Sunday night in London the biggest names in Hollywood will descend upon the Royal Albert Hall for the 2020 BAFTA Awards. I have to say that after getting a list of the presenters I am super excited for this years red carpet. “Sustainability is very important to BAFTA, and we’re doing more than ever before,” a BAFTA spokesperson told Harper’s Bazaar. “The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, BAFTA is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.” That idea has pushed to the red carpet as well. The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge were asked to “dress sustainably” and quickly it went to everyone. So I decided to have fun with these wishes and do things a little differently than normal. Every look from this list is a wish for someone to re-wear something they have in the past, wear a vintage (or nouveau vintage), off the rack, archive runway, or from labels who are lauded as having sustainability as part of their core mission. Honestly I think this might be my favorite set of wishes. I raided the online vintage shop Shrimpton Couture (who has loaned out some of the best vintage for stars including Tracee Ellis Ross, Naomi Campbell, Emily Deschanel, Kate Hudson, Busy Phillips, & more) because owner and curator Cherie Balch has some of the most amazing gowns. I also found “second hand” gowns from The Real Real and 1stDibs. When it came to the re-wear’s I’ve picked it was super easy choices there as each of the looks I want to see worn again are some of the looks that I immediately think of when I think of those ladies. Overall I am really intrigued to see what will happen on this red carpet.

The 2020 BAFTA Awards will take place on Sunday February 2, 2020.
