2021 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

I cannot wait to see how the Grammy Awards go off this weekend. So far in the midst of the socially distanced the Music Awards shows have done the best feeling “normal”. While some went expected with the regular set up in an empty arena while others went for more virtual continuity with green screen set stages. The Grammy Awards are expected to have multiple stages set up in and around the Staples Center complex where a major list of performers are set to showcase. I am really excited to see what the show will bring. So over the next several days you are going to see wishes for those nominated, performing, and presenting at this years show. I’m crossing my fingers for major things. Kicking things off today is this years most nominated artist Beyonce who has 9 nominations thanks to her Black is King visual album including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Despite all of those nominations she is not one of the performers this year and I highly doubt we will see her get all dressed up for any sort of live acceptance speech should she win any of those 9 awards. When I was picking looks for the Grammy’s back before they postponed their date I picked this major glamour look which features a sheer Ese Azenabor Couture column gown which features long sleeves, intricate beading, and a plunging neckline which I wanted to style with the major black and white fur stole from the Georges Hobeika Fall 2020 Couture collection. I really wanted to see Beyonce support a young up and coming designer I found through her stylist Zerina Akers @BlackOwnedEverything she started after sourcing items from black labels (in addition to a lot more) for the Black Is King visual album. I thought this gown with that stole would give major old Hollywood vibes with a sleek rose twist retro inspired updo, thick winged eyes, bold red Pat McGrath Labs ‘Elson 2’ bold red matte lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Double L 100’ patent leather & mesh strappy pointed toe pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels including statement drop earrings made up of white diamond halo set Colombian emeralds and a selection of major white diamond rings. It would easily be one of my favorite Beyonce looks in a really long, long time. Especially a red carpet look. I had so many ideas for what to pick for Dua Lipa to wear for the Grammy Awards. I was originally going to go down the route of vintage Thierry Mugler Couture, but then Kim Jones made his debut as the creative director at Fendi. The moment I saw this ivory sheer pearl embellished caped column gown with a halterneck bodysuit and a dramatic train it spoke to me. It was a really cool moment that gives me regal vibes as well as rock and roll glamour. I feel like it would definitely be something that Dua would be drawn to and since she is on the list of performers in addition to being nominated for six Grammy’s including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. Her music helped get me through lockdown and I would love to see her walk away with a couple of those golden gramophones as a consolation prize. A sleek updo embellished with a Mikimoto ‘Splash’ akoya pearl and white diamond brooch, defined eyes, glossy mauve lips, a pair of metallic champagne nude Christian Louboutin ‘Mariacar’ crisscross mesh platform sandals, and Mikimoto ‘Bubbles’ akoya pearl and white diamond cluster earrings would turn this look into the perfect glamour moment for Dua to bring to the Grammy’s this year.  H.E.R. has been making the rounds this awards season with nominations at both the Golden Globe Awards and the Critics Choice Awards. Her next stop would be the Grammy’s in a normal year. She is nominated for 3 Grammy’s including Song of the Year and two Best R&B nods. She gave us more casual cool in Valentino Couture look at the Globes and a major floral beaded brocade custom Miu Miu suit for the Critics Choice Awards after wearing neon trimmed Vera Wang Chinese inspired pants looks for the Emmy’s last year. She isn’t performing, but I would still love to see her serve a major drama glam moment wearing this peach rosé avant garde ruffled Elie Saab Spring 2021 RTW column gown which features a 3/4 length cape bodice, intricate crystal embellishment, a thigh high split, and a dramatic train. It isn’t like anything else we’ve seen H.E.R. wear. She goes for more of that left of “expected” glamour for the red carpet, but I feel like this could be a really cool moment especially if it was styled with an intricate cornrow braided bun updo, defined eyes behind orange Gentle Monster ‘Chakra’ gold-toned metal cat-eye sunglasses, glossy nude lips, a pair of metallic orange Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Catia’ strappy sandals, and glamorous A & Furst ‘Bouquet’ rose-cut rose de France, citrine, pink tourmaline, and madera citrine cluster earrings.Megan Thee Stallion has been getting better and better with her red carpets lately. So when I saw that the rapper who is nominated for FOUR Grammy’s including Record of the Year and Best New Artist was going to be performing this year I wanted to make sure I was giving a major fashion moment. I went through all sorts of ideas when I was thinking about what the perfect look would be for Megan I went through a couple of ideas, but I thought about going the custom route going off the rack and picking this bronze Gucci long sleeve gown with a choker detail on the neck, a metallic sheen, a straight fit, a long length, a rear central vent and a chainmail-style construction as the inspiration. How I would customize this look for Megan would be to add a dramatic train and moving the rear vent to become a right side split to really make this a superb fashion moment for the Grammy’s red carpet. It would be edgy, glamorous, and sexy which are all adjectives I would use to describe Megan. I would style this gown with a major high afro bubble puff ponytail, smokey eyes, deep glossy burgundy lips, major black ankle strap Casadei fishnet mesh peep toe platform pumps, and a selection of major Sutra jewels including 18k blackened gold 3 row emerald hoop earrings and a ‘High Emerald’ 18k blackened gold set emerald and white diamond cocktail ring to make sure that Megan is serving a MAJOR moment from head to toe. Finishing off today is the beautiful Taylor Swift who is nominated for six Grammy’s and will be performing this weekend so I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet. Despite multiple nominations since Taylor hasn’t attended a Grammy’s ceremony since 2016 when she won several for her album 1989. So I am really interested to see what she will bring this year. When she dropped Folklore and Evermore last year Taylor seemed to ignite the Cottagecore trend, and a refound love of cardigans. I’ve wanted to see what this would bring in terms of red carpet style, but Taylor has skipped pretty much all of the music awards shows during the pandemic. When I was thinking of something that I feel would fit the vibe of her recent albums, but still give us red carpet I was having a hard time coming up with the right pick. Then I watched the Valentino Spring 2021 Couture show and I immediately fell in love with this light grey slip style gown with a dramatic train paired with a copper brown knit sweater vest that was worn asymmetrically on the runway and I would keep it that way for Swiftie. Finishing out the look with a soft romantic updo, defined eyes, her signature bold red lips, gold metallic leather Aquazzura ‘Celeste’ platform crystal rope knot detailed platform ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Irene Neuwirth jewels including one of a kind ‘Tropical Flower Triple’ drop earrings made of carved mixed tourmaline, a one of a kind three stone ‘Gemmy Gem’ pink tourmaline & white diamond ring, and a one of a kind ‘Tropical Flower Triple’ carved pink tourmaline and sapphire ring would give this look is a major cottagecore glamour moment.

The 2021 Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, will air live on CBS Sunday March 14, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years red carpet here.

Dream Inaugural Ball for President Joe Biden Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

In this fraught environment I have to say that writing my wishes has been getting me through. I started officially planning my wishes for my dream inaugural ball since the day of the siege on the Capitol. Fashion has always been a bit of escapism for me and that is exactly what we need right now. There might not be fancy balls with star studded guest lists that will happen, but I am going to continue to dream about which looks we might have seen some of the a-list supporters of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. In the looks below you are going to find looks mostly from American designers and one super glamorous blue couture gown. Billy Porter always serves looks so I would have loved to see him bring a major fashion moment to the inaugural festivities this year. Just recently I was flipping through the Christian Siriano Pre-Fall 2021 collection and the moment i saw this ivory suit ensemble embroidered with 3-D eye appliques and features a cropped tailcoat with the tails turning into a train I immediately thought of Billy. Is this look anything we would expect to see at a presidential inaugural ball? Oh hell no. But as I’ve said menswear in Washington, DC needs a shake up and this look would definitely do that. Of course the look would need to be customized for Billy to fit his proportions. To finish out this look I would add a black button down dress shirt and a pair of black Rock Owens slip on platform chunky heel boots (a favorite of Billy) to make sure this look screams individuality. In a virtual campaign event Jennifer Lopez, and fiance Alex Rodriguez, sat down with Joe Biden to talk about the importance of voting, especially Latinos. She will also be performing at the Inaugural Ceremony. So yes I had to make sure she was included in my wishes for what could have been a dream inaugural ball. I decided to break away from American designers for Jennifer as she just needs a little bit more razzle dazzle. So I picked this blue metallic silk one shoulder Elie Saab Fall 2016 Couture gown with some intricate beaded embroidery and a thigh high split, I also picked a major Elie Saab gown for her to wear for her performance at the Inaugural Ceremony as well. It is inherrantly the sexy glam vibe that Jennifer always brings to a red carpet and I just know that she would have shut down the look down on a red carpet for an inaugural ball. Styled with old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, smokey eyes, glossy ruby red lips, a navy crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Rectangle’ clutch, silver crystal studded PVC Aquazzura ‘Dream 105’ ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Harry Winston jewels including white diamond and emerald cut sapphire drop earrings and a white diamond and sapphire ‘Crisscross’ ring I know this would have been a glamorous moment from head to toe. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is the final hostess from the 2020 Democratic National Convention whom I wanted to include in my wishes for a dream inaugural ball. (The others are Eva Longoria, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Kerry Washington). Out of the four Julia is my least favorite in terms of style. While her style isn’t bad it is just boring typically. That being said I knew almost immediately what gown I was going to use for Julia’s wish. This simple oyster pink silk Brandon Maxwell Spring 2021 RTW strapless column gown with a thin bright orange bow detailed belt is super chic and I feel like it would have been a perfect moment for Julia to wear for an inaugural ball. Simple waves, defined eyes, soft pink lips, an orange Edie Parker ‘Jean’ marbled-effect acrylic box clutch, champagne Christian Louboutin ‘Galativi 85’ crystal embellished and mesh paneled pointed toe pumps, and one-of-a-kind Irene Neuwirth 18k rose gold set pink opal, fire opal, and white diamond pendant drop earrings would definitely make this look incredibly chic and just the right amount of statement making for Julia. Okay here we go. My wish for Lizzo is one of my favorite of all my wishes for what could have been at the inaugural balls for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Since she really burst onto the scene at the end of last year Lizzo has been encouraging her fans to get out and vote! From Tik Tok and the stage at the Billboard Music Awards to virtual events for the campaign she was really pushing people to do their civic duty; so under normal circumstances I would have been shocked not to see Lizzo in Washington DC for inaugural events. As I was looking for wishes I knew I wanted to use this red satin strapless Oscar de la Renta Fall 2020 RTW gown which features a fitted bodice, drop waist, and an asymmetric high low bubble hem and when I thought of Lizzo wearing the gown my heart started to race. It isn’t something we’ve see Lizzo wear before, but I feel like the dramatic glamour is definitely something she would be able to sell with ease. I would style the look with a vintage inspired updo, defined smokey eyes, bold deep red glossy lips, a red crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Hot Lips’ minaudiere, a pair of red crystal embellished Amina Muaddi ‘Karma’ pointed to slingback ankle strap pumps, and Butani jewels including ‘Hypnotic” ruby and diamond wreath hoop earrings and a selection of ruby and diamond bracelets to finish it off in high glam style. “Party in the USA” the hit song by Miley Cyrus made a return to the iTunes charts back in November 2020 thanks to the election of Joe Biden. Miley herself shared a video of Biden and Kamala Harris dancing with the song edited in, and captioned it, “Now THIS is a PARTY IN THE USA!” In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Miley said that she would love to perform at the inauguration. Well as of now I haven’t heard anything about her performing at the ceremony, but had she gone to Washington for the inaugural events I would have loved to see her do so in her full glam grunge vibe that she has been rocking. I wanted to put Miley in Marc Jacobs, but decided instead of going for something current that I would dive deep into the brands archives. When I saw this black chiffon and sequined slip style dress from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2006 RTW collection I knew I had found the right look. It is the perfect balance of grunge and glamour and I feel like it would have definitely been a superb moment for Miley to wear for an inaugural ball, especially if styled with her signature mullet, thick smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black patent leather Christian Louboutin ‘Double L’ strappy sandals, and white diamond Yeprem ‘Inside Out’ double hoop earcuffs. Talking about “Party in the USA” Selena Gomez danced to Miley’s hit song on Instagram Stories after the race was called. Selena has been a voice to make sure you are registered to vote and specifically encouraging Latina’s to use their voices in the electoral process. So yes I would have loved to see her take on Washington DC for an inaugural ball especially if she did it wearing this burgundy jersey Ralph Lauren Fall 2005 RTW criss-cross halter gown. I adore this super chic and glamorous moment and I know that Selena would definitely make it a super chic moment. A sleek updo, defined eyes, burgundy lips, a gold Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ python embossed clutch, burgundy suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino 85’ ankle strap sandals, and a selection of major Messika x Kate Moss 18k gold set jewels including a pair of broken hoop white diamond earrings with baguette cut drops and an art deco inspired white diamond ring. Rounding out today is a super chic look for Taylor Swift who has been using her voice in politics for the last couple of years. I just always love seeing Taylor so after seeing her really using her voice to encourage people to vote I would have loved to see her in DC for the inaugural events. I went with classic glamour with this pool blue silk chiffon Monique Lhuillier asymmetric draped gown with a thigh high split. It isn’t anything boundary pushing, but I definitely think that for gliding around the room shaking hands (a novel thought isn’t it) and schmoozing that this is a great look for Taylor. A soft romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver strappy Jimmy Choo ‘Lilah’ metallic leather sandals, and simple yet glamorous art deco inspired Tiffany & Co. aquamarine and white diamond drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to make this look super glam for Taylor.

2020 American Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Having watched the People’s Choice Awards this weekend I feel even more excited about the 2020 American Music Awards this weekend. We are hearing some amazing names of performers and presenters and I feel like in addition to the nominees that this could be one of the best nights of fashion since we’ve started social distancing. The looks in today’s wishes are as varried as the artists whom I want to see wearing them. I feel like some of these looks were made for the runway with these women in mind. I think the best case and point in looks being made for the runway inspired by a star I think is this fugly Louis Vuitton Spring 2021 RTW ensemble which features an oversized polo with a leather top and a diagonal striped bottom paired with a neon pop art wide leg shorts which I definitely think was made with Billie Eilish in mind. I hate the look because it isn’t my style at all, but I do think it is something that Billie would rock the look on a red carpet and American Music Awards is perfect. I can see it happening with Billie wearing the whole head to toe runway styling including those moon boot meets sneaker things that I just don’t understand, but that is what Billie’s style is to me. Jennifer Lopez shut down the People’s Choice Awards this weekend wearing a super cute voluminous Christian Siriano red bubble dress. Now while I loved that moment I want to see her bring some glamour to the red carpet at the American Music Awards this weekend where she will be performing “Pa’ Ti + Lonely” which are two songs recorded by JLo and Maluma for the soundtrack of their  upcoming film, Marry Me. I knew immediately what dress I wanted to see from Jennifer. I’ve been loving the idea of her bringing this silver asymmetrical Elie Saab Fall 2020 Couture fitted sequined and beaded tulle gown since the lookbook was released back in September. I feel like Jennifer would make this an uber sexy glam moment. Now I would leave the veil at home instead opting to style this gown with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a silver crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Smooth Rectangle Polaris’ box clutch, silver dome studded PVC strap Christian Louboutin ‘Corinetta 100’ strappy sandals, and a selection of dazzling Harry Winston jewels including a pair of shell inspired white diamond cluster earrings and a vintage white diamond lattice bracelet from 1959. It would make for a major head to toe dazzling moment. Katy Perry will be giving the first ever live performance of her latest single “Only Love” off her new album Smile on Sunday night. I am always excited to see what Katy will bring to the red carpet and this is no different. I always love seeing what Katy will wear. I’ve picked two looks for her in these wishes with one for the red carpet and one for the actual performance. Starting with the red carpet I would love to see Katy give ethereal femininity wearing a raspberry pink to white ombre tulle Georges Hobeika Spring 2020 Couture asymmetrical gown which features a sheer side panel and dramatic caped sleeves. It is more of a feminine and soft look than I feel like we’ve seen Katy wear on the red carpet in a little while and I think it would be a great post pregnancy moment for Katy to bring to life on this red carpet. Style it with a romantic curly updo, defined eyes, raspberry pink lips, a pair of white satin Aquazzura ‘Bow Tie’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and dazzling David Morris white diamond and pink conch pearl chandelier earrings to really make this look feminine glamour defined. Now I won’t lie to you I found the performance look for Katy first and thought about it being her red carpet look. I LOVE this red and pink rose printed Richard Quinn Spring 2020 RTW strapless mermaid gown which features a sweetheart neckline and a ribbon asymmetrically draped from the shoulders to the hem with words of love written in crystal beading. I saw this dress while I was actually listening to “Only Love” and immediately fell in love with the idea of Katy wearing it to perform the number. It is the glamorous side of kitschy and that is why I love it for Katy. I feel like Katy would need a boost in the height department so I picked a pair of black sequined Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Bebe’ major platform d’Orsay pumps to add that height (mostly because they would be hidden by the mermaid hem.) A sleek side parted beehive updo, smokey eyes, bold red lips, and a pair of simpler white diamond and ruby David Morris chandelier earrings would add the perfect finishing touches. Both moments would give Katy two major fashion moments this Sunday. Megan Thee Stallion has FIVE American Music Award nominations this year and she will be on hand performing at this years show. We don’t know what it is she will be performing yet, I’m hearing it’s a debut single, but I am really excited to see what she will bring to life on this red carpet. It will be her first red carpet appearance since she sat front row at the Coach fashion show back in February. I would love to see her wear the Zuhair Murad Couture gown I featured in my Billboard Music Award wish list, or the Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu gown I picked for her to wear in my VMA’s wishes, or even the Aliette cocktail dress I put in my wishes for the BET Awards, but I had to make sure I put something new into the universe. I’ve been thinking about this fuchsia silk taffeta Christopher John Rogers ruched strapless gown which features a tulip shaped ankle length skirt, a thigh high split, and a MAJOR train for a really long time. I’ve wanted to use it for almost every red carpet, but I just haven’t felt the right vibe yet. Until now. I think that Megan would definitely rock this very 80’s glam moment on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Styling this look with glamorous old Hollywood half up/half down retro hairstyle, thick winged eyes, deep fuchsia lips, a pair of fuchsia glitter Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Polina’ cross-strap slingback sandals, and a selection of Gismondi 1754 jewels including a pair of pink ruby and white diamond chandelier earrings and a dazzling one of a kind ‘Goddess’ white diamond teardrop collar necklace. Rounding out today’s wishes is a soft glamour moment for Taylor Swift whom is nominated for 4 AMA’s including Artist of the Year. It is also rumored that she will be performing, but as of yet this hasn’t been confirmed. With her “Folklore” era having come completely during the COVID lockdown I’m still on the pastel lightness she was drawn to during the Lover” era. Enter this soft lilac Valentino Spring 2021 RTW ruffled silk chiffon gown which features a blouson silhouette, ruffled trim, round neck, balloon sleeves, nude bodysuit, and a small train. It is a very fashion-y choice for Taylor whom has never worn Valentino before, but I feel like this gown would be a super chic moment for her to wear at the American Music Awards especially if it was styled with a romantic updo, soft silver smokey eyes, bold hot pink lips, lilac suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ ankle strap sandals, and a pair of white diamond Anabela Chan x Diamond Foundry ‘Vine’ floral and butterfly drop earrings.

The 2020 American Music Awards will take place on Sunday November 22, 2020. Check out all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2020 Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Tomorrow night are the 2020 pandemic version of the Billboard Music Awards. The awards are finally happening, in a virtual event, after being postponed earlier this year. I don’t know what to expect, but there are some major names in the list of nominees and performers so I hope to see a lot of these stars over the course of the telecast tomorrow night. Check out some of the absolutely major moments I want to see these stars rock tomorrow night for the virtual “red carpet” and let me know which are your favorites and which ones you most want to see brought to life.

2020 MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

We are getting closer and closer to this years VMA’s. I feel like we still do not know what the show is going to look like and how it will be staged. I am really interested in seeing what the producers are putting together. I am disappointed that we won’t actually get a red carpet, but I am interested in seeing what everyone wears for their performances and to accept their awards. MTV did announce plans for the show to “[span] all five boroughs” to “pay homage to the strength, spirit and incredible resilience of NYC and its beloved residents.” I would be shocked if Alicia Keys, who does come across as an ultimate New Yorker, won’t perform. She is nominated for Best R&B thanks to her song “Underdog” which focuses on rising in situations that may be difficult. I went back to the same idea I had for Keke Palmer and picked a head to toe look for Alicia from black designers starting with an eggplant iridescent velvet Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 RTW double breasted suit which features strong shoulders, slouchy sleeves, and wide leg trousers. I can definitely imagine Alicia sitting at a piano placed in the middle of a street in New York City as the sun sets performing “Underdog” in this suit. It would be made even better with a sleek updo with perfectly beat babyhairs, smokey eyes. glossy nude pink lips, a pair of black Brother Vellies ‘Bowery Palms’ feather detailed sling back strappy sandals, and white diamond Vanleles ‘Bridal Cuff’ marquis and pear shaped wreath earrings. When I head that Chloe x Halle were only given a place to perform in the VMA’s pre-show I was annoyed. First I don’t know how that will work. The pre-show usually takes place on the red carpet as guests arrive. Well there is no red carpet. So why not just call it the show. Second I feel like these sisters have been doing it for a while now and deserve the plunge to the main show. Either way I am excited to see what they and stylist Zerina Akers are going to cook up for the VMA’s. I decided to pick two complimentary looks from the David Koma Fall 2020 RTW collection for these ladies starting with a black slim fit wool single button suit with a white and green crystal embellished harness for Chloe Bailey and a black sequined jersey long sleeve mini dress which features a cutout neckline for Halle Bailey. The two looks are super sexy and glamorous and I feel like these sisters would own their respective moments at the VMA’s. To style the looks I would love to see Chloe with a sleek ponytail of braids, smokey eyes, deep red glossy lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Galativi’ crystal embellished mesh paneled pointed toe pumps and Halle with an intricate asymmetrical braid updo, thick defined eyes, deep red glossy lips, a pair of black patent leather Christian Louboutin ‘Open Liloo’ crisscross strap sandals, and a selection of Gismondi 1754 jewels including ‘Prato Fiorito’ white diamond and emerald earcuffs and a statement white diamond and emerald ‘Cascata’ waterfall cocktail ring. The styling would definitely turn these looks into major moments. It was the custom red sequin ‘siren’ emblazoned Moschino gown at the 2019 MTV VMAs that told me that Lizzo was going to be a fashionable force to be reckoned with. I’ve been obsessed with her looks from Atelier Versace, Moschino, Mary Katrantzou, and more! She is nominated for two VMAs this year and I would have loved to see what she would wear for the red carpet this year. I was thinking about looks and I fell in love with this jade green Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2020 Couture gown which gives distinct 60’s palm springs hostess caftan vibes with its ostrich feather trim. It is super glam but definitely not a look that anyone could pull off. I feel like this is such a bold statement and I think that Lizzo has the presence to make it work. I would make this look even more major with a teased bouffant updo, smokey glitter eyes, deep red Pat McGrath glitter lips, a pair of gold trimmed Votette ‘Cindy’ pointed toe PVC pumps, and statement Mateo NY 14k gold and white pearl ‘Blizzard’ mobile drop earrings. Machine Gun Kelly will also be performing at the 2020 VMAs “pre-show” what ever that means. The rapper is definitely known to serve a cool menswear moment and I am praying we see that from him at the 2020 VMA’s. We’ve seen him pull looks from Calvin Klein by Raf Simons, Comme de Garcons, and Saint Laurent but instead of going to one of those top tier labels instead I wanted to see MGK rock a look from Netflix’s Next In Fashion Season 1 runner up Daniel W. Fletcher. I LOVE this look which features a black tuxedo coat, a white unbuttoned button down, a pair of boot cut white piped slashed trousers, and a wide white asymmetrical cummerbund from his Fall 2020 Menswear collection titled “Start Me Up.” It is a cool new take on the classic tuxedo and I feel like that is what MGK is into. Only thing I would add a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Trapman Flat’ formal combat style leather boots and two Jacob & Co necklaces including a white gold set white diamond studded ‘Safety Pin’ necklace and a white diamond asscher cut cross pendant necklace to really make this look super cool. Finishing out this list is the gorgeous Taylor Swift who is nominated for 5 VMA’s. We haven’t heard about Taylor performing or making any appearances at this years event. I won’t lie to you I’m not loving her new album, but I would love to see her give a super soft glam moment inspired by the aesthetic the album gives wearing this grey and white marbled pattern chiffon Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture one shoulder gown which features a defined waist, ruffle detail on the shoulder, an a-line skirt, and a thigh high split. It is the soft moody glam effortless elegance that is woven in the music from Folklore and I feel like it would be a gorgeous gown on Taylor. It would also be a gorgeous gown if she does perform a song like “Cardigan.” A romantic curly updo, soft defined smokey eyes, light pink lips, a pair of iridescent silver Christian Louboutin ‘Spikaqueen’ crystal embellished PVC pointed toe ankle strap pumps, and a selection of elegant Kwiat jewels including a pair of white diamond ‘Legacy Petal’ floral teardrop earrings and a white diamond ‘Entwine’ 4-row cuff bangle bracelet would add the perfect finishing touches to this look.

The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on Sunday August 30, 2020. You can see all my VMA’s wishes here.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “The Souvenir Part II”

Mother daughter duo Tilda Swinton and Honor Swinton Byrne debuted The Souvenir at the Berlin Film Festival last year. According to Screen Daily there had been hopes that director Joanna Hogg would make her Cannes debut in Competition this year with The Souvenir II, reuniting her with the cast of the original, Honor Swinton Byrne, Tilda Swinton, and Ariane Labed. IMDB teases the film as a story about a young film student in the early 80s who becomes romantically involved with a complicated and untrustworthy man. We saw Swinton and Byrne in Cannes last year and it would have been great to see them back at the festival promoting a film they star in together this year. When she debuted The Souvenir in Berlin last year with her mother Honor Swinton Byrne and Tilda both wore head to toe Chanel. I decided that since I really don’t know much when it comes to Honor’s style yet I would turn back to two super chic Chanel Couture moments for the looks I would have loved to see her bring to life at this years festival. For the photocall I went with this dark green Chanel Fall 2019 Couture co-ord which features a sleeveless ruched halter neck top and cropped cuff pants. I’ve loved this look since it was first presented last July and definitely think it would have been a super chic moment for Honor to wear in Cannes. Bohemian waves pulled back and teased, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of black Chanel mesh and patent calfskin low heel lace-ups would definitely make this is a super chic moment. For the premiere I went to this super chic cream Chanel Spring 2020 Couture sleeveless tweed and chiffon shirt gown. It isn’t the big grand gown I tend to want to see in Cannes, but I think that Honor’s sense of style is a little more laid back. So when I picture her wearing this gown I definitely see it as a superb effortless French glam moment for her to bring to life on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. Style it with a romantic loose curly updo, soft smokey eyes, blush pink glossy lips, a pair of pearl white Jimmy Choo ‘Sacora 100’ satin ankle strap peep toe sandals covered in pearls, and simple sparkle via white diamond Chanel High Jewelry waterfall earrings and I know this look would have been effortless glamour defined. Joe Alwyn has been a guy on the red carpet who doesn’t really push boundaries, but does deliver some perfectly tailored and styled menswear moments on the red carpet. When I saw he was part of this cast I thought it would be great to see him deliver his signature chic menswear moments in Cannes. Joe was last in Cannes in 2018 when he was invited to the festival by Chopard and given the Chopard Trophy, an award for promising young talent. So to see him in Cannes to promote The Souvenir Part II I kick off my wishes with a slate blue leather bomber jacket from the Tom Ford Spring 2020 Menswear collection. The jacket is that right punch of color perfect for a the photocall balcony overlooking the French Riviera. I think that the lookbook styling is cool with the match leather sweatpants and white boots, but that isn’t really Joe’s style. So instead I would have loved to see Joe style this bomber jacket with a white button down, Tom Ford slim fit medium wash faded denim jeans, a black leather Tom Ford ‘Palladium T Ridge’ leather belt, a pair of slate blue, pebble grey, and white Jimmy Choo ‘Raine/M’ soft leather and nylon sneakers, and Tom Ford ‘Kip’ silver framed aviator sunglasses. It would definitely make the look perfect for a Cannes Film Festival photocall. The look I’ve picked for Joe to wear for the premiere is super classic, but with a bit of a twist. I love this black jacquard Tom Ford ‘Atticus’ cocktail jacket as it is very classic in cut and style, but the subtle pattern and shine make it just modern enough to make a really cool menswear moment. The tailoring has to be PERFECT for a look like this and Joe’s tailor knows how to fit a suit so I know it would be. Everything else about this look should be classic to let the jacket be the star of this ensemble. It would definitely have made sure that Joe was on top of the mens fashion game. The Souvenir Part II is the third and final film that stars Tilda Swinton that I saw was rumored to screen at this years Cannes Film Festival. I’ve already picked superb fashion moments from some of Tilda’s favorite labels including Maison Margiela, Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, and Valentino. Many may be surprised that I didn’t pick a single Haider Ackermann look for Tilda, but their best looks are custom and there wasn’t really anything that I saw from the label that would have been right for Tilda. So instead I went to other designers. I went with one of Tilda’s more recent favorite designers for the photocall picking this jade green and gold silk Loewe Fall 2020 RTW origami draped midi dress which features cap sleeves, a brass studded white leather patch on the breast, and a flared asymmetrical hem. Back when she was heading the jury at the Marrakesh Film Festival at the end of last year Tilda wore looks from Loewe twice. This look is definitely a major moment and I think that this dress with a chic coif, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of metallic gold croc embossed leather Jimmy Choo ‘Love 85’ pointed toe pumps would have been a major moment for Tilda to bring to life in Cannes. Now I decided to go left of a gown for Tilda to bring to life in Cannes for the this premiere. Tilda usually goes for a gown in Cannes, but not always and with this cutout black Maison Margiela Spring 2020 Couture double breasted suit I definitely think she would have skipped a gown in favor of this look. There aren’t many who could make this look come to life on the red carpet and Tilda is one of them. She has the height and the edge to really wear this complicated look and not let it wear her. So I would strip back the styling removing the blue gloves, the deconstructed undershirt, and the scarf mask. Instead styling the suit with a black silk shell undershirt, the clear PVC belt from the runway, a teased coif, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Maison Margiela cut-detail pointed toe pumps, and asymmetrical white diamond Messika High Jewelry ‘Sharazad’ earrings for a bit of edgy sparkle would make sure that Tilda would have made a super chic yet edgy moment come to life. In terms of bringing the Cannes level drama I am always excited to see what L’Orealista Araya A. Hargate will bring to life at the festival. So I am devastated that she won’t be bringing major looks to the festival this year. I’ve already picked a Jean Paul Gaultier Couture gown for her to bring to life this year and later this week I have an archive Zuhair Murad Couture gown for her, but today is all about Vivienne Westwood. The British fashion label is all about drama, edge, and glamour. I saw this ‘Feather Lace Princess’ gown from the Vivienne Westwood 2020 Bridal Couture collection which features a flat embroidered lace corset and a dramatic skirt reminiscent of a rose in full bloom, incorporating over 30 meters of fabric draped asymmetrically cascading to a waterfall of floor length layers of feather, organza and lace petals and thought it would be amazing remade in ice blue for Araya. The gown itself is major and it needs someone with presence to make it work. It isn’t an easy gown to be able to push through, but despite being petite I know that Araya would be able to own this look with ease. A sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of bold blue Giuseppe Zanotti crystal chandelier fringe trimmed sandals, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond and sapphire collar necklace would definitely add the perfect finishing touches to this avant garde princess moment. I will say I was totally not going to include Kendall Jenner in my wishes for what could have been in Cannes this year. I don’t love Kendall. Regular readers will know that. But as I was looking for looks for others I saw this fuchsia tulle Giambattista Valli Spring 2020 Couture tulle gown which features puffy sleeves, a tuft on the hips, and a dramatic ruffled hem and thought of Kendall immediately. I definitely isn’t the usual look we see from Kendall on the red carpet, but it would have been a lot of fun. I would edit the gown to have a lined bodice because if I see Kendall’s nipples one more time I might bang my head against a wall of rusty nails. Since this look is such a statement all on its own I would style it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of metallic fuchsia Saint Laurent ‘Lexi’ ankle strap leather sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection colored titanium set amethyst waterfall earrings to have ensured that is would have been one of Kendall’s best red carpet moments ever. The final look in this set of wishes is for Taylor Swift. I decided to include Taylor because she is so supportive of her boyfriend Joe Alwyn and I would have loved to see her make a splash on the Cannes red carpet showcasing her support. I would have loved seeing her do so wearing this nude Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture strapless column gown which features 3D beaded flower applique detail on the bodice and hip, a slight asymmetrical peplum, wrap style skirt, beading throughout, and a daring thigh high split. This gown is simple and elegant which I think is right within Taylor’s sense of style and would have been a perfect look for her to wear as the supportive girlfriend. A sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a champagne gold Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ coffered jeweled clasp clutch, a pair of champagne gold leather Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas’ crystal trimmed ankle strap sandals, and a statement Chopard Red Carpet Collection white and yellow diamond collar necklace would have ensured that Taylor just oozed simple sophisticated glamour while supporting her man in Cannes.

2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 35

We are almost to the end of my 2020 Met Gala wishes. These are all the ones that you heard me talk about adding up unto this point. I was adding looks, stars, and archive moments that I just knew needed to be included in this years wishes that I didn’t get involved early enough. These wishes are superb. I am just holding my breath hoping that they will be brought to life. I was working on another project when I found this butter yellow Vivienne Westwood Spring 2005 RTW draped high low off the shoulder corseted ballgown. I was obsessed with it immediately. I was lacking a good Vivienne Westwood moment for my Met Gala wishes and this was it. It speaks to the enduring legacy of the Vivienne Westwood. I was thinking of one of these gowns for Camila Morrone and this one was the perfect one. It would be a huge improvement over her nude crumpled Elie Saab disaster she wore for her Met Gala debut last year. This look oozes sophistication and that signature brand of Vivienne Westwood glamour. A sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and pair of bright yellow satin Aquazzura ‘Deneuve’ pointed toe pumps, and a selection of dazzling Samer Halimeh New York jewels including a statement white and yellow diamond choker necklace and a matching cocktail ring would all ensure this look is perfection from head to toe. Aside from the customized Celine gown I hadn’t picked any other looks from the label for the Met Gala red carpet. I was actually SHOCKED that last year after several red carpet moments over the course of awards season that Heidi Slimane didn’t dress a single soul for the Met Gala red carpet. He sent several gowns down the runway for his Celine Fall 2020 RTW collection. This black liquid sequin sheath dress which features a ruffled neckline is gorgeous and definitely on theme for this years Met Gala red carpet. I was raking my brain for the perfect person to wear this gown on this red carpet and Jennifer Aniston came to mind. Now Jennifer has never attended a Met Gala in the past and she isn’t the most exciting person, but I do think that this gown is something she would definitely be drawn to. I am usually not a fan of the way Jennifer styles her ensembles. She doesn’t usually put a lot of effort into her looks. I would love to see her put the effort into her look for her Met Gala debut styling this look with a loose romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of black Gianvito Rossi peep toe slingback pumps, and vintage art deco scalloped white diamond cluster stud earrings from Fred Leighton.A star I knew I needed to see on the Met Gala red carpet this year is Lady Gaga. After her 4 wardrobe changes on the steps last year when she was the co-host of the gala I want to see Gala deliver superb glamour on the red carpet. She delivered many timeless dramatic glamour moments on the red carpet over the course of the A Star Is Born promo tour and the subsequent awards season leading to her Oscar win. It makes me pray to the gods of fashion that we will see her on this years Met Gala red carpet. I went on a search for the perfect gown for her to bring to life on this years red carpet. I would love to see Gaga bring this red Mary Katrantzou Spring 2020 RTW ‘Love’ gown which features a hand draped taffeta bodice and a floor length skirt in duchess satin. I know that this gown needs someone with presence for it to be perfection and Gaga has presence in endless abound. Styling this look with a 40’s inspired rolled updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red crystal embellished Rene Caovilla ‘Celebrita’ ankle strap platform sandals, and a statement Tiffany & Co. collar necklace designed by Paloma Picasso for the 1985 Blue Book, made of rare and colorful gemstones was acquired in honor of the 35th anniversary of Paloma’s collaboration with Tiffany & Co. would make for an absolutely major moment for Gaga to deliver on the Met Gala red carpet. As I was looking at runway looks that I really wanted to see on this years Met Gala red carpet I kept looking at this black and ice white Givenchy Fall 2018 Couture gown which features structured high neck, short sleeve crop top with a sash train layered over a silk column gown. This gown was Clare Waight Keller’s tribute to the late Hubert de Givenchy and was inspired by one of the creations he made for her costumes in the film Funny Face. I wasn’t sure who should wear it. I knew it needed to be someone with height. Then Nicole Kidman popped into my head. She has the height, grace and elegance to truly bring this look to life on this red carpet. Styling this look with a retro updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver crystal embellished black satin Sergio Rossi cross strap peep toe sandals, and a selection of vintage jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of white diamond and pearl tear drop pendant earrings, a selection of delicate white diamond and sapphire art deco bracelets, and two early 20th century art deco Burmese sapphire and white diamond rings would make sure this retro glam look delivers regal perfection.Rounding out this list is the always beautiful Taylor Swift. The songstress has always been one to deliver chic moments on the red carpet. She has worn super glamorous gowns from J. Mendel, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, and Badgley Mishka as well as an edgy Louis Vuitton cocktail dress in past years. I decided to dig into the archives of one of my favorite, yet underrated design houses Viktor & Rolf for the perfect gown for Taylor to wear on this red carpet. This strapless ballgown which features a black and pink beaded corset bodice and a tulle skirt angular cut hailed from one of my favorite Viktor & Rolf collections, Spring 2010 RTW. The edgy cut tulle designs were rocked at the time by Rihanna, Katy Perry, Jessica Alba, & Anna Paquin. When this gown was first presented Taylor was in her fledgling country princess days, so it never would have even been an option for her. Given her style transformations over the years from princess to sex pot to lady I feel like now is the perfect time for Taylor to pull this glamorous, yet inherently edgy, moment out of the Viktor & Rolf archive and give it the red carpet moment it deserves. Taylor would infuse a sense of classic glamour into this moment. It would definitely be a perfect interpretation of the theme of this years Met Gala “About Time: Fashion and Duration” especially when styled with a loose romantic updo, thick winged cat eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of rose gold glitter and crystal Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass’ pointed toe pumps, and a dazzling Gismondi 1754 white diamond teardrop wreath necklace.

2020 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

Oscar night is always one of the most glamorous nights of the year. We can see upwards of 200+ looks on the red carpets of Oscar night. Despite the fact that last year I did not actually post a Best Dressed of the Year list an Oscar party look has never made the final cut for a BDOTY List. We have seen some superb moments on the red carpets at Oscar parties. I am specifically remembering Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a mint green Ralph & Russo Couture at the 2018 Vanity Fair Party. That look was in my final round of cuts for my 2018 Best Dressed of the Year list, though that was a really tough year to make the list. I hope that with some of the people who I am rumored to hear are making an Oscar night appearance will deliver some major moments as I was super underwhelmed with last year. In all of today’s wishes I am featuring some of the looks that are hot off the Paris Haute Couture runways, Pre-Fall 2020 looks I am dying to see on the red carpet, as well as looks from Spring 2020 RTW I don’t want to see lost to the archive, as well as couture archive moments I am still waiting to see on the red carpet. Honestly if just a 1/3 of these could come true then this could be one of the best Oscar nights ever.

Oscar Night 2020 is Sunday February 9, 2020.

63 Looks From Spring 2020 Couture I Want To See On The Red Carpet

I started off Paris Haute Couture Spring 2020 Fashion Week with the intention of having a post the next morning of the favorite looks I had seen the day before with who I most want to see wearing those looks. Well life got in the way. Tuesday night I saw Celine Dion and slept as long as I could before heading to work the next day. Wednesday I had to take my mother to a doctors appointment first thing in the morning and lost my little bit of weekday morning blog time. So by then I just decided well day one is already up, but I will just do a round up including all the shows with 1-4 looks from each show being featured in one big round up list. So that is what I did. As I was putting this list together I realized that this is basically a precursor to my 2020 Cannes Film Festival wishes with major looks for L’Orealistas like Sonam Kapoor, Eva Longoria, Araya A. Hargate, Aishwarya Rai, Helen Mirren, and more to bring to life on the red carpet. It can also be a prediction for you all as it comes to what my Oscar party wishes may look like. Overall this season was very good. Aside from my now perennial favorites Givenchy and Valentino there wasn’t really much of a stand out as far as an entire collection, save maybe Armani Prive, but there were a ton of really amazing moments that are just waiting to be seen on a red carpet. I hope you are ready to see more of these looks, see some of these wishes below detailed out, and more on the race to the Oscars, Met Gala, and the Cannes Film Festival. I honestly do not know which wish here is my favorite; what’s yours?

2020 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

The Grammy Awards are this weekend and I am just hoping that they deliver some super fashion moments as this awards season has been super lackluster in my opinion. I don’t know if it is just the fact I have been doing this for so long or the fact that I know there are so many better options out there or some combination of the both, but the ladies (and gentlemen of Hollywood) haven’t been able to snag my love and enamor towards anything they have worn for the most part. I am hoping the stars of music bring the drama to the red carpet and honestly a lot of the people on today’s set of wishes I know can do it. I NEED someone to wear the Balenciaga I’ve picked for Cardi for the Grammy’s. Seriously what other red carpet would that work for?

The 2020 Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday January 26, 2020.
