“We’re looking at trying to do a unique award ceremony in an hour and leave people saying, which they very rarely do [with an awards show], ‘Man, I wish we had more,'” SAG Awards co-executive producer Todd Milliner told Variety about this years ceremony. That has me very intrigued. After taking a lot of time to find my inspiration to write wishes for this years event I’ve finally found it. While I am disappointed that this years show isn’t going to be live I am still excited to see what fashion the stars will bring to this show. Another of the producers for the show Kathy Connell said “We hope they [the nominees] respect the show enough and everybody does, and their fellow actors, that they don’t want to disappoint the audience at home by letting any surprises go.” So far this is true and it seems like even stylists are holding images of looks to release them when the red carpet would usually take place. 
For the Golden Globes Carey Mulligan rocked a draped white Prada column gown. I wasn’t thrilled with the fit of the gown and the look was lacking great hair and makeup. She kept a similar beauty look with a white satin suit for the Critics Choice Awards. It seems like white has been her color of choice this awards season so with that in mind for the SAG Awards I would love to see Carey bring something incredibly chic from head to toe to life. I found the perfect look for Carey in this vintage Chanel Couture ensemble which is a white short sleeve lace blouse, a black banded waist, and a white sequin diamond pattern embroidered a-line tea length organza skirt from the brands Spring 2001 Couture collection. I have been loving vintage Chanel in lieu of many of Virginie Viard’s collections and I believe that Carey would look absolutely phenomenal wearing this gorgeous gown. With a soft curly romantic updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of white Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ crystal trimmed pointed toe pumps, and antique Victorian white pearl and white diamond silver-upon-blacken gold drop earrings from London based vintage jewelry dealer Jewellery Discovery I know that Carey would have a phenomenal glamour moment on her hands. 
Kerry Washington hasn’t made any appearances this awards season, but with her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series nomination at the SAG Awards I am praying that she ends up serving us a look. I looked at a lot of dresses and there wasn’t a whole lot that spoke to me. This black Iris Van Herpen Spring 2021 Couture high low strapless gown with a peplum train, mini underskirt, and intricate sequin embroidery was the gown that really spoke to me. I can’t say that Kerry is someone I would normally think of when looking at an Iris Van Herpen collection, but the moment I saw this dress I couldn’t help but shake the idea of Kerry bringing this gown to life. I’ve loved her looks since she’s worked with Law Roach and the two make magic together. It would be a super cool edgy glam moment and I believe that Kerry would absolutely be able to sell this gown to me. I would add a sleek side parted bob, defined eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Moon Crystal’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a statement emerald and white diamond de Grisogono collar necklace to really make this a statement edgy glam moment for Kerry from head to toe.
Leslie Odom Jr. has been showing up in some super cool fashion moments for award shows so far this season. He rocked hot off the runway Valentino Couture for the Golden Globe awards and Celine look from a collection we haven’t seen a lookbook from for the Critics Choice Awards. I am very excited to see what is last few stops along awards season including this weekends SAG Awards. I’ve always thought that Leslie in classic menswear styles with a twist. That is exactly what I found in the Tom Ford Fall 2021 Menswear collection. I adore this black leopard print tuxedo jacket styled with a silk button down shirt and black tuxedo trousers. It is a cool moment and I definitely believe that Leslie would be able to sell this look with ease. I would keep the styling rather simple finishing the look with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlato Flat’ glittered velvet and patent leather oxfords. 
Nicole Kidman dress in her best custom Louis Vuitton for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year to partake in the ceremony virtually with her family from their living room in Australia. I am very excited to see what she will wear for this weekends SAG Awards where she is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series. I had several options for what I would like to see Nicole wearing, but it was this black liquid sequin Giambattista Valli Fall 2021 RTW column gown which features a single sleeve, floral embellishment, and a bow detail on the shoulder that really spoke to me. I feel like it this gown is incredibly sleek and glamorous with a hint of sex appeal and Nicole would easily be able to make this look come to life on the red carpet. With this being a pre-recorded virtual event I know this simpler silhouette would be perfect for Nicole. A soft romantic updo, defined eyes, light pink lips, black crystal embellished mesh Rene Caovilla pointed toe slingback pumps, and a selection of jewels from Fred Leighton including a pair of Georgian pendeloque rose cut white diamond drop earrings, a pink spinel and white diamond cocktail ring, and a 1960’s Colombian emerald and white diamond cocktail ring would all tie this look up together in one glamorous package. 
Viola Davis has been loving bold prints lately. She’s rocked Lavie by CK for the Golden Globes, XulyBet for a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon, and Duro Olowu for the NAACP Image Awards. Each one was statement making and bold. Never a look I would have expected to see from Viola and who knows if they are looks she would have chosen to wear had this been a regular year. I didn’t go the bold pattern for my SAG Awards wishes I really wanted to see Viola wearing this teal chiffon Elie Saab Fall 2021 RTW a-line flowing gown with a sweetheart crystal halter neckline, ruched bodice, and a crystal waist. I saw this gown and knew immediately it was perfect for Viola. It was the first gown I picked for my SAG Awards wishes. It was actually the thought of not putting this wish into the universe that kept me coming back to look at my wishes and persevering to make sure I got them up. To make this a perfect red carpet moment I would love to see Viola style this gown with a teased afro hairstyle, smokey eyes, deep burgundy glossy lips, a silver crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture slim faceted rectangle clutch, a pair of strappy silver Casadei ankle strap platform sandals, and selection of Thelma West jewels including simple white diamond drop earrings and a statement white diamond cushion cut cocktail ring.

She is attending one of those satellite events and with her major awards season run (so far in Chanel Couture and custom Prada) on the road to the Oscars I would definitely expect that we would have seen her at the Grammy’s. Knowing that I would have expected to see the fashionista on the red carpet. He always serves up major fashion moments and I’ve been dying to see Billy wear this lime green Palomo Spain Spring 2021 ensemble which features a floor length duster coat (with a robins egg blue lining) with matching trousers and a white shirt since it was first presented. I was going to use it for a “premiere” of a movie he will be staring in, but that movie release got pushed. So I was thrilled that I still got to put this wish into the universe. Cardi B will be performing on this years show Sunday night so I know she will be serving LOOKS. Her last two Grammy’s have both been in Mugler, both vintage and custom. She wore D***e for the CMA Awards and it was one of her better looks. I just feel like if anyone could make me like a D***e moment now it would be Maren. Chloe x Halle have 3 Grammy nominations this year and I would love to see the duo serve us a LOOK for the “red carpet.” The sister duo is always a favorite to see on the red carpet and I really want to see them SHUT IT DOWN for their first ever Grammy nominations. I would love to see them rock some glamorous moments from Christian Siriano this year. I wouldn’t normally go for Siriano since these two can serve up some major moments from some of the top avant garde designers, but as I was on the hunt I saw the gown I want to see Chloe Baily bring to life and I was changed completely. I fell in love with the idea of her wearing this black Christian Siriano Pre-Fall 2021 two piece gown with a cross strap bralet and a high waisted tulle ball skirt and I couldn’t shake the idea of her wearing this look even when I was looking at all the new collections coming out of Paris and the recent couture shows. Alana Haim, Este Haim, and Danielle Haim AKA just as HAIM are true fashionistas. They have rocked major complimentary moments from Chanel, Dior, Rodarte, Chloe, Stella McCartney, Versace, and Acne Studios on red carpets over the last several years. They love fashion and they aren’t afraid to rock avant garde looks on the red carpet. So when I was thinking about who I want to dress the sister group nominated for two Grammy’s including Album of the Year and who are performing I immediately thought of the cool girl brand of the moment Bottega Veneta by Daniel Lee. Poppy is nominated for Best Metal Performance and will be performing at the non televised Grammy Premiere ceremony, so I want to see her serve a look. She has always given very avant garde moments on the red carpet that go from sweet to edgy and I want to see her continue to give a major fashion moment So I turned to this white Giambattista Valli Fall 2020 Couture mini dress which features a dramatic asymmetrical taffeta bow for her. I just feel like Poppy would be the perfect person to bring this look to life. She has has the stature to really make this look come to life. I’ve always paid attention to Trevor Noah on the red carpet. He’s rocked some superb fashion moments over the years and for the Grammy’s I went with 4 AMAZING looks for Trevor from 4 different designers and each one would make for a major fashion moment. Kicking things off with a major “red carpet” moment I would love to see Trevor wearing this black Alexander McQueen Spring 2021 Menswear tuxedo which feature a statement draped asymmetrical white bow detail. I feel like this look is a statement choice giving us a very avant garde take on traditional white tie formal dressing and I do think that it would be a phenomenal moment for him to bring to life, especially for the Grammy’s when styled with a pair of
Now with all of Trevor’s fashion connections I went for all statement looks for him to wear while hosting the 2021 Grammy Awards. Starting with haute couture and this Atelier Versace Fall 2020 Couture peak lapel tuxedo which featured an intricately beaded blush to black ombre embroidery. I’ve always been excited when Versace adds menswear to it’s couture collections and always disappointed that there aren’t more stars who embrace these chic, but boundary pushing ensembles. I feel like this is definitely something that Trevor would be drawn to and I can see it come together perfectly styled exactly as it was in the lookbook.
History has already been made at the 2021 Golden Globes just thanks to the nominees in the Best Director category. This year a record 3 women are nominated and two of them are women of color. Chloe Zhao is one of them. She has been lauded since the film made its debut in Venice where it won 3 awards including the Best Picture award. So I am definitely keeping my eyes on her as one to watch this awards season. As I was looking at her past red carpet appearances it seems like Chloe avoids black tie events and really just rocks very comfy and casual looks for photo lines. It makes sense she is more behind the scenes thank in front of the camera glam. But with a possible run to Oscar gold ahead of her I have some superb options in mind to push her through awards season this year starting with this color blocked gold, gunmetal, and bronze sequin Tom Ford Spring 2015 RTW long sleeve column gown. It is definitely going to push Chloe’s comfort zone, but I do think it would be a really cool and glamorous moment for the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. I wouldn’t push the boundaries with the styling keeping with her regular barely there makeup, wash and go hair,

Even when she made the winning awards season run for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri she never made an actual appearance on any of the red carpets including the Oscars. In fact the only red carpet I feel like she’s actually stopped to pose for in recent years is when she was a guest of Pierpaolo Piccioli’s at the 2018 Met Gala. Elle Fanning earned her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy thanks to her role as Catherine the Great. Regular readers will know that I always LOVE to see Elle Fanning on a red carpet and I am praying that she will go all out for her first Globes nomination even if she does join the telecast remotely. Nicholas Hoult is a man that can give very chic menswear moments. So I would absolutely love to see him give a superb moment at the Golden Globe Awards where he has also earned his first nomination. I would love to see Nicholas, who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, wearing this black Louis Vuitton Resort 2021 menswear tuxedo which features the signature LV monogram flowers embroidered on it. Last up today is an emerging star who is quickly becoming one of the best Chanel ambassadors. It was in the lead up to the Emmy’s we first saw Shira Haas wearing some Chanel looks for virtual appearances to promote Unorthodox. Then she was one of the few in a couture gown for the Emmy’s. All of these looks came courtesy of Chanel. So I have a hard time believing that she would be wearing anything other than Chanel for this years Golden Globe Awards. I was looking at the collections and thought that this sand tulle Chanel Spring 2021 Couture sleeveless gown with features a drop waist, slight v-neck, knotted top, and a beaded macrame bodice. It is chic and bohemian and honestly something that is more Maria Grazia’s Dior than Chanel, but I absolutely think it would be perfect for Shira to wear for the Golden Globes. Her hit song “Rise Up” has become an anthem for pushing through. She took to the stage to perform on Monday for the “United We Serve: A Celebration of the National MLK Day of Service” coordinated by the Biden Inaugural Committee. So I would not have been surprised to see Andra rocking a major fashion moment in a Washington D.C. ballroom tonight at one of the inaugural balls had there been any. I’ve always loved how Andra gives very retro glam vibes on the red carpet, so I went into the archives of the king of retro glam: Zac Posen. While his label closed last year I would still love to see stars dig into the archives and wear so many of the amazing looks that have never been worn. For this occasion I would have loved to see Andra wearing this black silk faille off the shoulder ballgown from the Zac Posen Fall 2014 RTW collection. I love the structured bustier and the caped sleeves. It is very modern take on classic glamour, and I feel like Andra would have shut this gown down. Who was the most unexpected political pundit of 2020? It had to be Cardi B. She conducted interviews with Bernie Sanders during the primary (whom she was a very vocal supporter of) and then Joe Biden after he was the presumptive nominee. Cardi as a political face is actually something I love. So had she been invited to one of the inaugural balls I would have loved to see her show up and show out wearing an amazing look from a young black American based designer. I have been loving Ese Azenabor for a while now and I really do feel like this one sleeve a-line multicolor/patterned gown with a thigh high split and a dramatic train would have been a major moment for Cardi. It is the meshing of her flamboyant style, but a little on the reserved side. Reserved might not be the best phrase. It isn’t sheer. I think that’s what I’m more interested in. Debra Messing hosted “We the People” a pre-inauguration concert over the weekend and as a very vocal supporter of the Democratic Party I definitely would have loved to see her attend an inaugural ball. In these wishes you will see I dug into archives in spirit of both finding something “new” to talk about but also with the idea of sustainability in my mind. Debra has been friends with Christian Siriano for a long time and he has dressed her for so many red carpets it was an forgone conclusion that I would pick a gown from him for her. So I went shopping in his runway archives and found this burgundy silk strapless ball gown with a ruched bodice, dramatic bow hip detail, and a dramatic train from the Christian Siriano Fall 2010 RTW collection. I have to say that this was one of a few major gowns from this collections that were never worn on a red carpet. Justin Timberlake will be performing tonight during the “Celebrate America” primetime special that is taking the place of the traditional inaugural balls. Regular readers will know I love when Justin and wife Jessica Biel take to a red carpet together. They know good fashion and always bring it. So I am disappointed that this moment has been stolen from us. Had there been a ball I would have expected these two to serve up glamour from head to toe starting with Justin wearing a perfectly tailored Tom Ford Fall 2020 RTW tuxedo which features a marbled black and white shawl lapel tuxedo jacket, straight leg silk trousers, a white shirt, and a big black bow tie. This is a classically cut tuxedo with a statement making twist and I know Justin would wear it well especially styled with a pair of 
Finishing out my wishes for my dream inaugural ball is talk show hostess Tamron Hall. I have long been fascinated with Tamron’s style. She is definitely the most extra of all the TV hosts and I love seeing her when she steps out. One of her last looks before lockdown was a major pink high low ruffled taffeta Oscar de la Renta gown at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards. It was one of her best looks to date. So when I was thinking of who I could put in Vera Wang in my Dream Inaugural Ball Wishes I thought that Tamron would be a great option to bring this deep burgundy one shoulder mermaid gown from the Vera Wang Spring 2013 Bridal collection out of the archive and give it a major red carpet moment. I know that Tamron has the diva-tude to really bring this gown to life on the red carpet. Her unique sense of style would be perfectly on display in this gown styled with a chic spiky pixie style, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, 
Beyonce was relatively silent this election cycle until right before the election where she posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a full Balmain ensemble and a Biden/Harris mask saying “Let’s do this Texas.” I was honestly surprised that we didn’t see Beyonce do more especially with Kamala Harris. Now I still would have loved to see Beyonce give us a dazzling moment had she attended any of the inaugural balls and that is exactly what she would have done wearing this royal blue Nedo by Nedret Taciroğlu Fall 2020 Couture strapless trumpet gown with asymmetrical ruffle details and a hip high split. I did tend to go with American designers for these dream inaugural ball wishes, but I needed a dazzling couture moment for Beyonce. I know she would definitely own this moment and with a 
Darren Criss was a part of the virtual Biden inaugural event “America United: An Inauguration Welcome Event Celebrating America’s Changemakers” on Saturday. I would definitely have marked that as a reason why he would have been given a ticket to one of the inaugural balls had there been any. I always love seeing Darren and his style on red carpets and so I feel like this really is a potential major menswear moment stolen from us due to the pandemic. Had he done a look for an inaugural ball I would have loved to see him rep American based designer Virgil Abloh and this ensemble from the Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh Resort 2021 collection which features a grey blazer with a half band belt waist and skinny fir black trousers. Now I love this look and it is definitely something that Darren would be drawn to. I would make the look more formal with the styling to make it appropriate for an inaugural ball with a crisp white shirt, black bow tie, and a pair of 
Demi Lovato will be performing tomorrow night at an event titled “Celebrating America” which will take the place of the traditional inaugural balls. I haven’t always loved Demi’s style and I was uber disappointed in most of her looks from the People’s Choice Awards last year. Demi and her stylist Siena don’t have a lot of pull with major designers so I turned to the resource that they used for most of her PCA’s looks, Albright LA. Albright is a fashion rental library where stars and stylists can rent looks for red carpets and editorials. I went through their virtual racks and found this super glam art deco inspired black and silver beaded Tom Ford sleeveless column gown. It is super simple in silhouette, but it definitely packs some glamour. I think it would go great with the 
When it comes to country music stars they tend to skew Republican, but Maren Morris made a very passionate plea for people to vote for Joe Biden. She made the plea during an I Will Vote event and said “Coming from a Southern family with a conservative background, throughout my childhood I was always taught to treat people with respect and dignity, no matter their race, their religion, their sexual orientation and, yes, event their political party. In an opinion article she penned for The New York Times Padma Lakshmi said “when I heard the news of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s victory. I felt elated. Then suddenly I felt this heat welling up from my chest into my throat and it burst out of me in tears I could not control. At first I didn’t even know why I was sobbing. Finally, I was thinking. Finally a woman, and a woman of color, takes this office.” During the campaign Padma participated in virtual events to work to elect Biden and Harris, specifically working to get out the vote of members of the South Asian community. Well to celebrate the success of the campaign and to mark this historical moment that means so much to Padma herself I would have been sure that we would have seen her on inauguration night giving us glamour at one of the balls. I had gone through my photo archives and found some designers who show in New York and picked this black and white Greta Constantine Spring 2021 RTW column gown which features a v-neck, puffy sleeves, and a cape almost immediately for Padma.
