2021 SAG Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The SAG Awards broadcast is this weekend. I say broadcast because I am sure that the Screen Actors Guild has already started bringing their presenters and nominees together to record their sections as this years show will be pre-recorded and broadcast with a 1 hour television special. I am not sure how they are going to condense the whole show into just one hour, but I am sure there will be a way for them to do it. I’ve been ruminating on my wishes for this event for a while. It actually put me in a bit of a funk. I was originally going to start these as soon as I was done with my Grammy’s wishes, but because of the circumstances I just wasn’t feeling inspired. In fact until this past weekend when I finally finished putting the wishes together I was still uninspired. I will not be detailing out everyone. I have just decided that I don’t have that in me right now, but I have a couple days of detailed wishes that will culminate in a big round up style post for everyone else. I picked the stars featured in my detailed wishes based on who I was able to easily pick a look for and who I know has been turning out looks during our virtual awards season. Kicking things off is Amy Adams whom earned a surprise nomination this awards season for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Movie thanks to her role as Beverly “Bev” Vance in Hillbilly Elegy. I’ve always loved Amy and her style, but in more recent years her looks have missed the mark for me. We haven’t seen her show a fashion look since Emmy night 2019 where she wore a hideous Fendi Couture gown. I want to see her give us GLAMOUR this weekend for the SAG Awards and I know it would be a perfect moment to see her wearing this black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2021 RTW crystal embroidered halter neck column gown which features a draped bodice and keyhole bodice cutout. It is classically glamorous and I think that it would be a great moment for Amy to bring to life for the SAG Awards. I would then take this classic gown and style it with a sleek retro glam updo, thick defined soft smokey eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black satin Tom Form ‘TF 105’ slingback pointed toe pumps, and a selection of Cartier jewels including intricate vintage white diamond chandelier earrings and a statement ‘L’Odyssée de Cartier’ white diamond cuff bracelet to really make this look scream glamour from head to toe. Over the course of this major winning awards season Catherine O’Hara has given more understand glam looks with a custom Vera Wang suit at the Golden Globes and a black Elie Saab ruffled cocktail dress for the Critics Choice Awards. For this weekends SAG Awards I would really love to see Catherine finish out the awards run for Schitt’s Creek giving us a bit of razzle dazzle wearing this black, gold, and white art deco inspired Elie Saab Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve column gown. I am SHOCKED that no one has worn this gown yet. I would have figured Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta Jones, Nadine Labaki, or Jane Fonda would have fought over this dress. Three years later we are still waiting to see it have a red carpet moment. I feel like it is totally in tune with Catherine’s chic and sophisticated sense of style and it would make sure that she sends Schitt’s Creek off in HIGH glam style. I feel like her soft wave center parted and worn down, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black satin Roger Vivier gold metal crystal buckle platform chunky heel strappy sandals, and simple elegant IVY New York red spinel and white diamond drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Emma Corrin has been serving LEWKS this awards season. She collected her Golden Globe wearing custom clown inspired Miu Miu and then went for bold 80’s inspired style with a Schiaparelli mini dress for the Critics Choice Awards. Her style has been top notch and I am sad her tenure with the cast of The Crown is coming to an end. After her wins this year I would say that her portrayal of Princess Diana has her as the favorite to take home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series trophy this year. I went for edgy glam with this silver and black Armani Prive Spring 2021 Couture sleeveless tea length gown with a halter neck vest and a spaghetti strap slip dress for Emma. Now I would ditch the belt from the runway and style this dress with her edgy cropped hairstyle, navy blue glitter Pat McGrath Labs ‘Dark Star’ smokey eyes, soft pink lips, strappy black Awge x Amina Muaddi ‘Isd Gladi’ thigh high crystal embellished sandals, and a selection of Messika jewels including asymmetrical white diamond wing cluster earrings and a white diamond fringe cuff bracelet to make sure this look is in line with Emma’s bold edgy glam style.Helen Mirren is one of the announced presenters for this weekend’s show. I have always loved seeing Helen on a red carpet and I cannot wait to see what look she will turn. She isn’t afraid of giving bold glamour on a red carpet and as I am working planning out the rest of awards season and headed into events like Cannes I cannot wait for Helen to serve more and more looks again. I was saving images from the Fall 2021 RTW collections when I saw this hot pink Tony Ward long sleeve a-line gown which features intricate beading on the bodice and sleeves, a jagged drop waist, and a tulle skirt. I immediately thought of Helen when I saw this gown and when I saw she was presenting at the SAG Awards I immediately thought of this gown. It’s such a bold statement moment and I know that Helen would be able to sell it to me easily especially with a sophisticated side parted hairstyle, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of hot pink Alexandre Vauthier crystal toe cap PVC sling back pointed toe pumps, and a bit more sparkle via white diamond Chopard ‘Precious’ collection white diamond cluster earrings. Finishing out today is Vanessa Kirby who has given some simple yet very chic looks this awards season wearing a simple black Gucci halter gown for the Globes and a red lace Saint Laurent gown for the Critics Choice Awards. I have definitely been paying attention to Vanessa and I am praying that she brings major looks to her final stops on the awards season circuit. She knows how to do major tailoring moments so I knew pretty immediately that I wanted to do this black and white Alexander McQueen Resort 2021 RTW tuxedo inspired ensemble for her to rock for the SAG Awards. I love this look which consists of a classic white button down shirt and a pair of black high waisted slim fit trousers with a major bow peplum detail. It is simple, sophisticated, and classic but in a way that SCREAMS drama. I mean can a look be classic and statement making at the same time? Because I definitely think that this look is exactly that. While Vanessa has a very no muss no fuss sense of style I think that the bow detail is within her wheelhouse. I think a sleek down hairstyle tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black crystal embellished Christian Louboutin ‘Loubiloo Bling Bang’ twist strap ankle strap sandals, and Bulgari ‘Barroko’ collection white diamond and ruby bunting cluster drop earrings would ensure this look fit’s in perfectly with Vanessa’s red carpet vibe.

The 2021 SAG Awards special will broadcast on Sunday April 4, 2021.

2021 Critics Choice Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

So the Golden Globes were last night and I have to say that even though I went into it with low expectations I was quite happy with what we ended up seeing. While all of the nominees, and a few of the presenters, joined the show via Zoom it still felt very normal. It has me excited for the rest of awards season. Several of the people in this set of wishes took home trophy’s last night and I cannot wait to see what they wear for the Critics Choice awards this coming weekend. Kicking things off today is Anya Taylor Joy who took home the Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie award last night for her performance in The Queen’s Gambit. She did so wearing a custom emerald green vintage inspired Christian Dior Couture look. I want to see Anya take to the Critics Choice Awards where she is nominated for the same award giving us fairy glam wearing this lavender Elie Saab Spring 2021 Couture sleeveless feathered skater dress with a high neck and a dramatic chiffon cape. I so would not pick this dress for any other person for a major film/tv awards red carpet, but Anya’s sprite like elegance just spoke to me when I saw this dress. Out of any of the awards Anya is, or could be, nominated for the Critics Choice is really the only one where this dress would work. I would let the dress be the statement of this moment styling the gown with a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, glossy nude pink lips, a pair of silver Roger Vivier ‘Marlene Strass’ ankle strap sandals, and simple halo set Norman Silverman emerald cut white diamond stud earrings. Catherine O’Hara was also a big winner last night picking up the Best Actress in a Comedy Series trophy wearing a custom rose print Vera Wang suit. Now compared to that this black and red AZ Factory Spring 2021 RTW long sleeve gown which features a drop waist, exposed zipper, and a full pleated ball skirt is like 3x as glamorous. I will say the first thing I thought when I saw this gown was that it was too similar to the custom Schiaparelli Couture gown that Lady Gaga wore for the Inauguration of President Joe Biden that it would never be worn, but when I thought of Catherine wearing this gown I thought it would be perfect. Now I really do wish that Catherine would bring a super dramatic glamour moment to life. I feel like her wearing this gown would feel perfect. Style it with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, an pair of black crystal embellished mesh Sergio Rossi ‘SR1’ pointed toe pumps, and a statement sugarloaf cabochon chalcedony, hexagonal white agate hoop, carnelian plaque, brilliant-cut diamond, and 18K gold David Webb retro inspired link necklace and It would scream glamour from head to toe. Leslie Odom Jr. might not have taken home a Golden Globe last night but he served up a LOOK. His stylist Avo had him as one of the first gentleman to wear a Valentino Couture look that is pretty much hot off the runway. I won’t like and say I thought it would have been more apt for a red carpet like the Critics Choice or the SAG Awards, but it was a really freaking cool look. Now with that in mind I would love to see him keep up taking sartorial risks turning to the bad boy of menswear Thom Browne for this look for this weekends Critics Choice Awards. I love this black shrunken tuxedo paired with a crisp white shirt and black bow tie. It is basically a classic tuxedo, but done so with shrunken proportions. It’s cool and elegant. I definitely can see Leslie rocking this look and honestly the only thing I would change about the styling is swapping the plain black oxfords for a pair of black and white Thom Browne woven leather brogues. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Uzo Aduba on a red carpet. I hate that lockdown stole the promo tour from Mrs. America from us and is stealing awards season red carpets from us. I will say that after last night I am more hopeful that stars will dress up and have fun and serve glamour this awards. I have always felt that Uzo gives her best looks when she is wearing bold solid colors and so when I was looking for the perfect Critics Choice Awards gown for her I fell in love with the idea of seeing her in this fuschia silk Alberta Ferretti Resort 2021 one shoulder draped gown. It is glamorous and I just feel like it would flow over her gorgeous curves beautifully. I would take this gown and style it with a bun of braids, defined eyes, nude lips, a fuchsia crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Slide’ clutch, fuschia pink Amina Muaddi ‘Romy 95’ crystal trimmed scalloped edge pointed toe pumps, and dazzling Anabela Chan chandelier earrings in 18k rose gold vermeil with 18k gold earring posts, hand-set with an array of laboratory-grown synthesised and simulated gemstones including rubies, pink and orange sapphires with rose tourmalines to ensure that this look screams colorful glamour from head to toe for Uzo. Vanessa Kirby closes out today’s wishes. I know that Vanessa has a very simple and sleek approach to dressing, but I want her to put on some beads and crystals and really dazzle us. So I would love to see the Best Actress nominee wearing this black fully beaded Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2021 Couture strapless bustier gown with intricate floral detail, draped hips with fringe, and a thigh high split. It is old Hollywood glamour at its best and I know that it would be an absolutely perfect moment for Vanessa to wear for a red carpet like the Critics Choice Awards. I would make this look scream glamour styling it with a sleek hairstyle tucked behind her ears, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of strappy black Christian Louboutin ‘Tarlatarte’ PVC detailed strappy sandals, and dazzling white diamond and ruby Amwaj chandelier earrings.

The 2021 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, 2021. You can find all of my wishes for this red carpet here.

2021 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 9

The producers of the 2021 Golden Globe Awards have crushed my hopes. They have told all nominees to stay home and that they don’t want gathering parties like the casts of Schitt’s Creek and Little Fires Everywhere did for the Emmy’s happening. I was hoping that we would see the casts gathering and maybe a little more glamour from those nominated. Unfortunately I just don’t see it happening. All of my nominee wishes seem like they just might be in vain. The five looks in today’s wishes would definitely be incredibly chic red carpet moments, but also perfect looks for getting all dolled up with nowhere to go.Daisy Edgar Jones is nominated for her first Golden Globe Award for her performance in Normal People. I was looking at Daisy’s red carpet history and saw that she spent some time in Venice as a guest of Miu Miu so of course I turned back to the brand for her Globes gown. I would love to see the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television nominee wearing this black tuxedo inspired Miu Miu column gown with a criss-cross bow detailed neckline, empire waist, and a thigh high split. It is a super glamorous moment and I feel like it would definitely be a perfect choice for Daisy. Now had this been for an actual red carpet I would have wanted to see a customized version with black beading and a dramatic train, but for the Globes from home I would love to see this as a perfect option. A sleek ponytail updo, defined eyes, red lips, a silver crystal embellished Miu Miu box clutch, a pair of black Miu Miu bow detailed strappy sandals, and Martin Katz half moon and trapezoid art deco inspired white diamond drop earrings would make this look super glam. I would say that I was surprised to see Jared Leto amongst the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture nominees for his performance in The Little Things. I always love to see what he will bring to the red carpet. He is anything but predictable when it comes to his fashion choices, but I knew immediately what I wanted to see him bring to life for this years Golden Globe Awards. I would say that even if he is to appear from home I would imagine that he will still serve a look. We know he is a friend and face of Gucci so I immediately thought of him wearing this purple suit (which I believe is suede) from the Gucci Spring 2021/Pre-Fall 2021 Menswear collection which features a cropped blazer with gold baroque scroll embroidery, matching flared trousers, and a beige pussy bow blouse. He is all for a bold 70’s inspired menswear moment and this is definitely something I want to see from Jared at the Globes. There isn’t much to do to make this better, but I would take the lookbook shoes and swap them for a pair of black leather Gucci ‘Worsh’ monk strap ankle boots. I wasn’t a big fan of the emerald satin sack gown Jodie Comer wore for last years Golden Globe Awards red carpet. I was even less enthused by all her rainbow accessories. I want to see the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama nominee serve up a super chic look. She skipped out on attending the at home Emmy’s but I hope she brings a glamorous moment to the screen at this years Golden Globe Awards wearing this electric blue Atelier Versace Spring 2021 Couture one shoulder gown which features a blue and white crystal embellished bodice, cape sash detail, and a thigh high split. When it comes to these at home events it is all about set up and color. Well I can’t say what Jodie’s set up would look like, but this color would definitely pop on the screen. Now I would love to see Jodie style this gown with a sleek side parted low bun, defined eyes, blush pink lips, a pair of navy blue crystal embellished PVC Aquazzura ‘Heaven 105’ strappy sandals, and asymmetrical white diamond and sapphire Cartier pendant drop earrings. It would definitely scream bold glamour from head to toe. Rosamund Pike is always one of my favorites to see on a red carpet. She brings bold, edgy glamour to any red carpet she steps out onto and I would love to see her bring something phenomenal to the screen at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards from home. I want Rosamund to bring sleek, edgy glamour to this with this white Stephane Rolland Spring 2021 Couture sweater gown in white crepe which features a window embroidered with a crystal cascade, long sleeves, and a dramatic train. It was one of my favorite gowns from the Spring 2021 Couture collections and I feel like Rosamund has the stature to really make this gown come to life. A sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of major white satin Mach & Mach double crystal embellished bow pointed toe ankle strap pumps, and simple white diamond Repossi ‘Lateral’ ear crawlers would finish this look in sleek glamour. Her roll of a grieving mother in Pieces of a Woman has earned Vanessa Kirby her first Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. I know that Vanessa has phenomenal style and I really want to see her serve up looks during this awards season. I would assume she will go for labels like Dior, Tom Ford, Armani, and Versace; but when I was looking on the runways for the perfect gown for Vanessa to wear for the Golden Globe Awards I feel in love with the idea of her wearing this nude pink Ashi Studio Spring 2021 RTW column gown which is covered with pearl embroidery with a spray of details on the bodice and features a v-neck. I think it would look like a second skin on Vanessa and with the right styling would be one of her best looks to date. I would finish this major moment with a sleek hairstyle pulled back and tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of cream pearl embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Maisel’ ankle strap sandals, and simple vintage Cartier white diamond and akoya pearl drop earrings.

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday February 28, 2021. You can see all of my wishes for this years event here.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “The World to Come” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

We are getting close to the end of my wishes for the 2020 Venice Film Festival, but I still have several major fashion moments that I want to see brought to life on the red carpet. Today I have wishes for the red carpet at the premiere of The World to Come. The movie is about how somewhere along the mid-19th century American East Coast frontier, two neighboring couples battle hardship and isolation, witnessed by a splendid yet testing landscape, challenging them both physically and psychologically. I believe that this film will have a glamorous red carpet and the looks I want to see the cast, jury, and an Armani girl bring to life on the red carpet are MAJOR. So let’s get into them. The World To Come is the second film that Vanessa Kirby will be screening at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. I really want her to deliver MAJOR fashion moments on the red carpet. I was highly unimpressed with the nude and burgundy beaded Valentino look she wore on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards earlier this year. It wasn’t a bad look, but it just wasn’t event appropriate. For her time in Venice I’ve already picked looks from Balmain & Valentino which speaks to two different sides of Vanessa’s style. Today’s wishes speaks to two more. For the photocall I picked a more feminine take on bohemian glamour with this red and green floral print Brock Collection Resort 2021 ‘Saura’ smocked taffeta midi dress which features a straight strapless neckline and a pleated a-line skirt. I adore this dress and I definitely think it speaks to Vanessa and her sense of style. It is the right balance of casual and cocktail for a daytime photocall without it being too much. A romantic updo, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of metallic gold Francesco Russo braided leather strappy sandals would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. The look I would love to see Vanessa wearing on the red carpet at the films premiere I went to the sexier side of Vanessa’s style with this blush pink Atelier Versace Fall 2020 Couture thin strap asymmetrically ruffled gown which features a v-neckline, a thigh high split, and a short train. I would actually like to see Donatella customize this gown to have a longer train since the Lido red carpet is a major stage for fashion. This gown with a sleek side parted beehive hairstyle, defined eyes, pink lips, nude Aquazzura ‘So Vera’ crystal embellished strappy sandals, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. jewels including a pair of chain link drop earrings in platinum with morganites and white diamonds and a statement white diamond and morganite lace cuff bracelet would definitely be a major moment for Vanessa to wear in Venice. As I was creating my dream Venice Film Festival wardrobe for Cate Blanchett Daniel Lee released the lookbook for this Resort 2021 collection for Bottega Veneta. So far only Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Rihanna have made me actually like his creations for the Italian luxury house. I saw this silver pailette sequined halter cocktail dress in the lookbook I immediately thought of it as a killer custom gown for Cate. I always feel like Cate would definitely be able to sell this dress as a gown to me. She can wear just about anything. It would switch things up from the more classic and feminine looks I’ve picked for Cate to wear in Venice thus far. This silver sequin gown is a sharp modern moment. A sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, bright pink lips, a silver metal Bottega Veneta ‘Knot’ clutch, silver studded Aquazzura ‘Dream’ PVC peep toe sandals, and de Grisogono ‘Ventaglio’ white diamond fan drop earrings would make sure this look screams modern glamour from head to toe. I don’t know why by I felt like I had to include a super chic red carpet lady pants moment for jury member Ludivine Sagnier. Aside from a shorts suit at one Venice Film Festival Ludivine is usually wearing a cocktail dress or gown on the red carpet. So I don’t know what it was about this years festival that made me want to include a major pants moment for her. Anyway I think this black and white Ronald Van Der Kemp Fall 2020 Couture tuxedo ensemble which features a poet blouse and slim fit cigarette pants with a dramatic train was on my brain and I feel like it would be a super cool moment for her to rock on the red carpet in Venice. A wavy bob, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black pleated chiffon Christian Louboutin ‘Goya Ruban’ pointed toe satin ribbon ankle tie pumps, and simple white diamond and ruby Bulgari ‘Divas Dream’ chandelier earrings would definitely make this a major fashion moment for Ludivine. It was the thought of Anne Hathaway wearing Armani Prive for events like the Golden Globe Awards and Oscars a decade ago that made me want to include her in my wishes for the 2020 Venice Film Festival. I’ve been ready for her to WOW me again. She did great earlier this year at the Critics Choice Awards where she wore custom Atelier Versace. If she wore to jet to Venice, which to be honest is highly unlikely, I’ve picked two glamorous looks for her to bring to life on the Lido red carpet. The first is revisiting the same collection her blue 2009 Golden Globe gown came from with this blush nude one shoulder a-line gown from the Armani Prive Fall 2006 Couture collection which features a crystal embellished bodice and a flowing skirt. I definitely feel like this gown screams glamour and would make me fall in love with Anne on the red carpet again especially styled with a romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a light gold Tyler Ellis ‘Perry Large’ mirrored stingray leather clutch, a pair of gold and silver crystal embellished Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ ankle strap sandals, and Butani diamonds including a pair of fringe wreath earrings and a four row cocktail ring. The second look I picked for Anne is from the Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture collection with this navy blue and red abstract printed strapless intricately beaded asymmetrically tiered column gown. It is a gorgeous moment and I feel it would be perfect for a starlet representing Armani on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. I would love to see Anne wearing this gown a sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a navy satin Judith Leiber Couture crystal clap clutch, a pair of navy suede Manolo Blahnik ‘Chaos’ ankle strap sandals, and a selection of major Gismondi 1754 jewels including a gorgeous one of a kind white diamond wreath necklace and a statement white diamond and sapphire art deco cocktail ring. Both looks would make sure Anne is back on the top of her fashion game again.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Venice Film Festival: “Pieces of a Woman” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Pieces of a Woman stars Shia LeBeouf and Vanessa Kirby in a story about a grieving woman embarks on an emotional journey after the loss of her baby. It will be screening this year at the Venice Film Festival this year. This film was another that I included in my wishes in my What Could Have Been in Cannes wishes. This list is a little different than that because I’ve dropped Shia from these wishes in favor of Sarah Snook. I would love to see the English and Australian actresses make the trip to Venice to promote the film since Shia won’t be able to get into Italy due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. The two looks I picked for Vanessa Kirby to wear for the Cannes Film Festival, had the film been selected and the festival actually been screened, would both be great for her to wear in Venice. Though I decided to start shopping for two new looks. Neither of the new looks I’ve picked for Vanessa to wear in Venice were presented after I made my wishes for What Could Have Been in Cannes. For the photocall I went with picnic glam with this red and white gingham Balmain Resort 2021 suit which features a cropped jacket with a tied front and high waisted wide leg pants. I always want to see Vanessa bring bold style statements to life and I feel like this would definitely be perfect. A sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, a defined eye, soft nude pink lips, a white t-shirt, a pair of red croc embossed patent leather Miu Miu pointed toe t-bar meets sling back meets ankle strap pumps, and Mateo New York ‘Right Angle’ pearl and white diamond stud earrings would make this look the right balance of high fashion and effortless glam. For the premiere I went with a dramatic caped creation from the Valentino Fall 2020 Couture presentation which features a plunging squared neckline, tie detail at the waist, a flowing skirt, and cape sleeves. It is a little bit more of a dramatic look than we are used to seeing from Vanessa, but I really want her to go big or go home. With the whole Valentino collection being made in white for the presentation allows it to be a blank canvas. I thought of saying I wanted the color of the gown changed, but the styling I had in mind would definitely compliment the white gown. Now of course to make this look red carpet ready it will need to be remade for Vanessa since she isn’t 15 feet tall. But I think that once the gown is made for her in white styled with a sleek updo, thick defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of white satin Aquazzura ‘Milla Jewel’ crystal trimmed sandals, and a statement Cartier High Jewelry [Sur]naturel collection white diamond, onyx, and emerald drop necklace that Vanessa would bring major glamour tomorrow night. This fall was going to be really big for Sarah Snook. She has a film screening at a major international film festival and she just got nominated for an Emmy Award. Now while the Emmy’s have cancelled their red carpet, Venice has not. There is currently no restriction that I am aware of on Australian’s entering Italy. So I would love to see Sarah make the trip and help promote Pieces of a Woman. I’ve been looking at her red carpet looks over the last year and it gives me hope that she has the potential to be a red carpet heavy hitter as she becomes more and more prominent. For Venice I went with two major color moments for Sarah starting with this hot pink Christopher John Rogers long sleeve asymmetrically draped calf length dress. I’ve been loving seeing CJR on the red carpet and I feel like this really bold color moment would be perfect for Sarah. I love a redhead in hot pink and styling this dress with a sleek side parted hairstyle, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of pearl pink Jimmy Choo ‘Jenique’ peep toe crisscross platform sandals, and three tone Swarovski crystal Roxanne Assoulin drop earrings would be perfection. For the premiere I went with another color I love to see redheads in, emerald green. This Zuhair Murad Pre-Fall 2020 off-the-shoulder metallic silk-blend plissé gown which features a sweetheart neckline, intricate pleating, and cape sleeves is GORGEOUS. Now It wasn’t until I was writing this list that I realized that I picked gowns with cape sleeves for both Vanessa and Sarah, but this Zuhair gown is perfect for the actress. I just know how good this look could be with a sleek retro updo, soft smokey eyes, bold red lips, an emerald green crystal embellished Serupi clutch, fun emerald green and black Casadei leopard print asymmetric slingback sandals, and a selection of Gismondi 1754 jewels including a pair of ‘Rugiafa’ white diamond and emerald drop earrings and a statement one of a kind 16.41ct emerald and white diamond cocktail ring.Aside from the look I’ve picked for the closing ceremony to come this is my last wish for Venice Film Festival jury president Cate Blanchett to wear over her reign this year. I’ve long wanted to see Cate wearing this soft seafoam green Armani Prive Fall 2019 Couture strapless tiered ballgown which features intricate beading and 3D floral embellishments. I feel like that this gown screams glamour and elegance and I just know that Cate would bring it to life in the perfect manner. The gown itself is enough, but I would love to see her step onto the Lido red carpet with a sleek retro updo, defined eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of silver Jimmy Choo ‘Max’ peep toe stiletto ankle strap sandals, and a statement white diamond Chopard ‘Precious’ collection collar necklace. It would just exude classic glamour from head to toe. Again, I didn’t realize I picked another cape sleeve gown for this post when I picked this watermelon pink Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture gown for Ludivine Sagnier to wear on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival. I do absolutely adore this soft flowing yet incredibly dramatic gown which features an off the shoulder portrait neckline, a crisscross pleated bodice, belted waist, flowing semi sheer skirt, and of course those caped sleeves. It screams glamour that it delivers and I feel like Ludivine would make sure that it gets the red carpet moment it deserves especially if she styles it with a gold rock crystal studded Elie Saab minaudiere, a pair of gold strappy Jimmy Choo ‘Tesca’ sandals, and a vintage Cartier white diamond and ruby garland necklace. Model Madisin Rian is one of the faces of Armani Beauty and we have seen her representing the brand on the Venice Film Festival red carpet for the last two years. She’s worn some beautiful looks at the festival, but she’s never WOWED me. I love her look and I would love to see her dazzle on the red carpet at this years edition representing both the past and present of the brand. Let’s start with the past. I found this black silk satin mermaid gown from the Armani Prive Spring 2005 Couture one shoulder gown which features delicate crystal embroidery, fringe details from the bust, and a sweeping train and definitely feel like it would be a MOMENT for Madisin. This is the same collection that Laura Dern pulled her Oscar gown from earlier this year. I wasn’t a fan of that tasseled moment, but I do think that this gown on Madisin with her shaved head, smokey eyes, bold red glossy lips, a pair of black Gianvito Rossi cutout sandals, and simple white diamond drop earrings from Gismondi 1754 would be a really glamorous moment. I always say that vintage can feel now if it is styled correctly. I think that is what would happen with this archive Armani Prive gown on Madisin. Now for the present of Armani Prive I would love to see Madisin give us a colorful gown with VOLUME wearing this sapphire blue and emerald green feathered spaghetti strap scoop neck ball gown from the Armani Prive Spring 2020 Couture collection. It’s definitely a bigger silhouette than we are used to seeing from Madisin, both gowns are to be honest, but I feel like she has the presence to really make this gown come to life on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. Style it with the same beauty and shoes from the first look adding a pair of emerald, sapphire, and white diamond teardrop pendant drop Gismondi 1754 earrings and I know she could be a real Best of Venice contender.

The 2020 Venice Film Festival will open on Wednesday September 2, 2020 and runs through Saturday September 12, 2020. You can see all my Venice Film Festival wishes here.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Untitled Adam Leon Project”

Today rounds out all my 2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been wishes with a bang. According to Indiewire it can be hard to predict which young American filmmakers will be embraced by the Cannes selection committee, though it always seems to make sense in hindsight. The Safdie brothers? Of course. Jeff Nichols? Why not. David Robert Mitchell? It’s worth a shot. These directors only have so much in common, but — in the broadest of terms — their movies marry classical stylization with contemporary zeal. And “Tramps” director Adam Leon is as likely as anyone to join the club. Little is known about his untitled new film beyond the fact that it’s set in New York City, stars Vanessa Kirby, and features the “Hobbs & Shaw” actress in at least one big look. But the movie has been in the can for a minute, and would be a natural fit on the Croisette if it maintains even a fraction of the bouncy throwback energy that have made Leon’s previous work feel so fresh.I’ve given all kinds of looks I wanted to see Vanessa Kirby wear in Cannes this year. She had three films rumored to be in consideration for this year selection. All of the moments I’ve picked for Vanessa would have made for a major Cannes Film Festival debut. So for my final wishes I went to two very different looks that speak to opposite sides of Vanessa’s style starting with the bohemian side with this off white Tory Burch Fall 2020 RTW long sleeve prairie style maxi dress. We don’t often see Tory Burch looks on the red carpet or even for photocalls, but when I saw this dress I just imagined it being a light airy and breezy moment for Vanessa to wear on the photocall platform in Cannes overlooking the French Rivera despite the fact it is a fall look. I would make sure the styling is great so that it doesn’t feel like this look would wash Vanessa out. So I would add soft waves, defined eyes,  deep dusty antique rose pink lips, a pair of light gold Malone Souliers ‘Miranda’ ankle strap platform sandals, and a statement Tory Burch ‘Roxanne’ pale green and peach resin and glass necklace to really have pulled this look together perfectly. Now for the premiere I decided to go the custom route for Vanessa. I would have LOVED to see her turn to one of her favorite designers Tom Ford to create a custom gown out of this major ombre rose pink to fuchsia sequin maxi skirt from the Tom Ford Fall 2020 RTW collection. Turning this skirt into a strapless fit to flare gown with a sweeping train would be one of the most dazzling Tom Ford gowns to walk the red carpet in a really long time. Tom hasn’t created a custom gown for Cannes in the past and that really surprises me. We’ve seen his off the rack looks in Cannes, but this would have been the first custom gown. This isn’t a typical Tom Ford red carpet look. When he creates custom looks for the red carpet he doesn’t often use bold color except for the very rare red, sapphire blue, or emerald green. This look would have been DAZZLING. Styled with a pair of metallic fuchsia Gucci ‘Crawford’ braided knot slingback peep toe pumps, a sleek updo, smokey eyes, bright pink lips, and a statement white diamond Messika High Jewelry ‘Beloved Feather’ asymmetric open collar necklace I know that Vanessa’s Cannes debut would have been perfection. I always have high expectations for Amber Heard. I know the potential that she has to bring major moments to life on the red carpet. When she brings the sexy glamour to the red carpet I always fall madly in love with her red carpet looks. So when I was picking looks for Cannes I decided to make sure that the hyper sexy glam was on full display opting for this black and white Elie Saab Fall 2020 RTW long sleeve sheer column gown covered in black feathers and white pearls and features a bodysuit worn underneath, a plunging neckline, defined waist, side split, and an ankle length. I definitely think that Amber’s presence and usual pose on the red carpet would definitely have made sure this look is perfection. Now while I usually would go for Elie Saab’s Couture collections for Cannes this look was definitely worthy of a red carpet moment at the festival. A sleek retro updo, defined smokey eyes, bold matte red lips, a pair of black patent leather and clear PVC Christian Louboutin ‘Just Nodo’ bow detail mule sandals, and asymmetrical white diamond Messika High Jewelry ‘Shahrâzâd’ broken glass inspired earcuffs would have made this look the definition of sensual glamour from head to toe. Chopard ambassador Catrinel Marlon is gorgeous and I wanted to see her bring DRAMA to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. I’m hoping that some of the brands whom spend so much to send their friends to Cannes might send them to some of the fall film festivals that are, for now, planning to go ahead. The first look I picked for her was a super glam Sebastian Gunawan gown and now I turn to another left of usual brand, Pronovias. The Spanish fashion label sent two versions of this dramatic midnight blue ruffled gown down the runway to close its 2020 Bridal Couture show last April. Honestly I am surprised no one snatched this gown up for last years Cannes Film Festival, but it would have made for a major moment this year on Catrinel. Had she snatched up this gown I would have loved to see Catrinel make this look even more major that the gown is on its own with a sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of customized Jimmy Choo ‘Pattie’ peep toe platform sandals made in midnight blue satin, and a MAJOR Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond and sapphire collar necklace. Nieves Alvarez was supposed to head to Cannes this year once again as the guest of Bulgari. The Spanish supermodel has some of my favorite Cannes moments thanks to looks from Ralph & Russo, Elie Saab, and Stephane Rolland. In a follow up to my first wish for Nieves to wear in Cannes this year, a major ruffled Giambattista Valli Couture moment, with an equally as major archive couture moment. I’ve longed to see this copper orange asymmetrically draped Stephane Rolland Spring 2011 Couture strapless gown on the red carpet since it was first presented nine years ago. There aren’t many who would really push through this avant garde couture moment making it the major moment I am craving and I know that Nieves would have been able to bring it to life with effortless ease. She knows how to sell these kind of moments and I just can imagine this gown come to life on her especially styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, matte rose pink lips, a pair of nude Christian Louboutin ‘So Me’ studded simple ankle strap sandals, and a beautiful vintage Bulgari necklace with carnelian intaglio and diamonds that Olivia Wilde wore to the 2016 Golden Globes.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “The World To Come”

There was also strong buzz, according to Screen Daily,  around Norwegian actress-filmmaker Mona Fastvold’s English-language drama The World To Come about two women who forge a close connection despite their isolation in the mid-19th-century American frontier. Casey Affleck produces, under his Sea Change Media banner, and co-stars alongside Katherine Waterston, Vanessa Kirby and Jesse Plemons. With a cast like that I definitely would have wanted to see it screen in Cannes. It’s not often we see Katherine Waterston on the red carpet. She doesn’t do the awards season circuit and honestly we have seen her since the London premiere of Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald back in November of 2018. So given how rare her red carpet appearances are it would have been a treat to see her walk the red carpets in Cannes promoting The World To Come. When it comes to style Katherine is usually very simple and borderline plain. So I didn’t want to go for anything too intricate or overbearing. For the photocall I picked this superb black and white Dion Lee Fall 2020 RTW ensemble which features a crisp white hidden button collarless poplin cotton long sleeve button down and a pair of black wool blend relaxed straight leg cut out pants with gold chain waist details. I’ve thought this look was such a chic and modern take on classic dressing and that is what I think would have made for a perfect photocall moment for Katherine. Styled with a sleek side parted low bun, defined eyes, nude glossy lips, and a pair of black suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Gianvito 105’ pointed toe pumps I know this look would have been a sleek modern moment from head to toe. For the premiere I went for something a little bolder with this lipstick red Valentino Haute Couture Beijing Fall 2019 collection sequined loose fit gown which features dramatic puffy winged sleeves, a jewel neckline, and a sweeping train. While this is a little bit more dramatic of a look than we are used to seeing from Katherine on the red carpet I think that for a Cannes premiere one should always go big or go home. This look pushes the envelope on Katherine’s style just enough that I would keep the rest of the styling super simple with the same sleek side parted updo, defined eyes, bold matching red lips, a pair of red suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ ankle strap sandals, and simple white diamond and ruby two string Cartier teardrop pendant drop earrings. The World To Come is the second of three films that Vanessa Kirby stars in that I head Cannes buzz around. For her first film Pieces of a Woman I picked looks from Alessandra Rich and Alexander McQueen for Vanessa. For this second set of wishes I’m going to start with a glamorous photocall moment for Vanessa from the Altuzarra Fall 2020 RTW collection. I was honestly looking for the perfect person to wear this ensemble which features a rose silk charmuse asymmetrical long sleeve blouse and a two tone carwash pleated a-line midi skirt with a sexy thigh high split and thinking of it on Vanessa I was sold. So styling this look with a pair of rose pink satin Sergio Rossi crystal studded buckle detail slingback mid-heel pumps, soft waves tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, rose pink lips, and diamond stud earrings would have definitely made this an absolutely gorgeous photocall moment for Vanessa. Now for the premiere I upped the drama picking this black Elie Saab Fall 2020 RTW strapless a-line gown which features intricate feather, pearl, and bead embellishments, sheer skirt, and a sweeping silk bustle train. This look is that subtly sexy take on glamour and I definitely think that is what Vanessa’s style is all about. This would definitely have been a super glam moment for her to bring to life in Cannes with a sleek retro updo, thick defined cat eyes, bold red lips, black Jimmy Choo ‘Bel’ silver crystal embellished peep toe slingback sandals, and a small pop of color via a pair of vintage Cartier white diamond and emerald teardrop hoop pendant earrings. Each look would have made for a major turn in Cannes for Vanessa. I’ve always been a big fan of seeing Araya A. Hargate on the red carpets in Cannes. So much so that instead of the usual two looks I pick for L’Oreal Paris spokesmodels to wear in Cannes I’ve picked three. That’s honestly because in addition to L’Oreal Araya is a friend of Chopard and usually walks one red carpet during the festival for the jewelry brand. For this look I really wanted to use Paraiba tourmaline’s as the inspiration for my final wish for Araya. So I pulled this bright aqua blue asymmetrical one shoulder Zuhair Murad Fall 2014 Couture ball gown out of the brands archives. I’ve been in love with this gown since it was first presented and am honestly SHOCKED that it hasn’t been worn on a red carpet yet. I do think that Araya would take this modern take on classic elegance and make it come to life on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. A sleek braided bun updo, defined eyes, pink lips, silver metallic leather Alexandre Birman ‘Lenny’ platform chunky heel sandals, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including a pair of white diamond and paraiba tourmaline teardrop pendant earrings and a white diamond paisley cuff bracelet would definitely make sure this look balances classic and modern glamour. My second wish for what I would have liked to see Kendall Jenner is nowhere near as dramatic as the Giambattista Valli Couture gown from my first. This black double satin Ralph & Russo Spring 2020 Couture asymmetrically draped gown which features structured organza and gazar frills, a thigh-high slit and a rosette corsage, enriched with jet and gunmetal crystals is very classically glamorous with a hint of va-va-voom sexy, but honestly that is what I think Kendall does best on the red carpet sometimes. I think that had she worn this gown in Cannes with a sleek updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black leather Christian Louboutin ‘Loubi Queen’ ankle strap sandals, and dazzling white diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection chandelier earrings that this would have definitely been a red carpet moment for Kendall’s record book. I was really hoping for another trip to Cannes this year thanks to Chopard from Priyanka Chopra. The Indian beauty knows how to handle the festival red carpets and I was blown away by her gowns on last years red carpets. This years wishes for Priyanka were all about color and major necklaces. The first look I picked for her was a major electric blue sequin Valentino Haute Couture gown and now I’m digging into the Elie Saab archive for this major canary yellow chiffon gown which features a satin and crystal embellished strapless bustier bodice and a flowing skirt from the brands Spring 2008 Couture collection. This is one of the first collections I remember falling in love with and to this day there are many looks I still really want to see brought to life on the red carpet. I can imagine Priyanka making this a super glam moment with a loose updo, defined eyes, deep ruby red lips, a pair of bright yellow gold Jimmy Choo ‘Mimi’ strappy metallic leather sandals, and a statement yellow diamond Chopard Red Carpet Collection collar necklace to finally give this gown the red carpet moment it deserves.

2020 Cannes Film Festival What Could Have Been Wish List: “Pieces of a Woman”

Awards Daily had Hungarian director Kornel Mundruczó’s next film Pieces of a Woman as a probable contender for this years Cannes Film Festival. Mundruczó made his Cannes debut in 2018 with Jupiter’s Moon. Pieces of a Woman stars Shia LeBeouf and Vanessa Kirby in a story about a grieving woman embarks on an emotional journey after the loss of her baby. The last time Shia LeBeouf was in Cannes was in 2016 when he joined director Andrea Arnold and co-stars Sasha Lane and Riley Keough for the premiere of American Honey. I don’t know exactly what is is that made me want to include Shia in these wishes, but here we are. When it comes to style Shia is very much a norm-core dude. He doesn’t really take risks when it comes to style and I wouldn’t expect him to start. So I picked to super chic looks for him to wear at this years festival that are super chic classic menswear moments starting with a Todd Snyder Spring 2020 Menswear ensemble for the photocall which consists of a rust silk bowling shirt with contrast detail on the collar and pockets, a black wife beater, and a pair of blush pink chinos. Like I said super simple and casual, but just the right amount of flare for Cannes without it pushing Shia out of his comfort zone. I would finish the photocall look with a pair of rusty brown Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Jimi Running’ crocodile embossed leather trainers and gold rimmed Tom Ford ‘Andes’ aviator sunglasses. For the premiere I went with perfectly tailored classic with this black Amiri Fall 2020 Menswear double breasted tuxedo which feature ribbon trimming on peak lapels and a skinny fit. This tux is super classic again with just the right touches to make it elevated without being out of Shia’s comfort zone. The black shirt that the look was paired with on the runway, a skinny black silk tie, and a pair of classic black leather Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Roger’ lace-ups would definitely add the perfect finishing touches to this look. With three films rumored to have been submitted for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival it sounded like Vanessa Kirby was set to make her Croisette debut this year. I go back and forth when it comes to Vanessa’s style. I know she has potential, but often times she leaves me wanting more. When it comes to Cannes that can’t happen, so as I was putting my wishes together for Vanessa I knew I needed to make sure that everything screamed perfection. So to promote Pieces of a Woman I picked to super glam moments for Vanessa starting with the lavender silk Alessandra Rich Fall 2020 RTW polka dotted dress which features long blouson sleeves, a deep v-neck, tiered peplum detail on the hips, a pencil skirt, gold crystal buttons. The wide cream leather belt with gold chain detail definitely makes this dress. Now I would ditch the clunky necklace the dress was styled with on the runway instead opting to let the belt be the focus of the look adding a sleek center parted hairstyle, defined eyes, punchy pink lips, and a pair of lavender suede Gianvito Rossi cross over strap chunky heel platform sandals. Now for the premiere I went super glamorous for Vanessa picking this Alexander Resort 2020 gown which features an intricate crystal embellished bustier bodice and a pleated white chiffon skirt. Now there are some slight modifications to this gown I would make to make it perfect for a Cannes Film Festival debut. First up I would chop those thin ribbon straps off making this a strapless gown and then adding a dramatic train to ensure this look just screams glamour. I would make sure this look is perfection with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of white Gianvito Rossi embellished ankle strap sandals, and simple yet glamorous vintage emerald and white diamond Bulgari stud earrings.Honestly I almost forgot that Aja Naomi King was a L’Orealista until I was looking at last years festival and saw the Zac Posen gown she wore. I have been praying for Aja to really wow me and it was earlier this year in fuschia silk charmuse Nicholas Jebran Couture at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party when those prayers were answered. It was easily her best red carpet moment ever, and it made me hopeful for what we would see her bring to life in Cannes this year. I turned back to Nicholas Jebran for my first wish to see Aja wear in Cannes this year had it happened with this midnight blue velvet gown which features a high bodice, slashed detail on the neck, thin straps, an hourglass silhouette, thigh high split, mermaid hem, and a dramatic train from the designers Fall 2019 Couture collection. When I started looking for the perfect gowns for Aja the moment I saw this one I knew that I had found the perfect look. It is a meshing of classic Hollywood glamour and modern elegance and I can feel it in my bones that Aja would have owned the red carpet in this look. I think that had she worn this gown with a sleek twisted retro updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti asymmetrical ankle strap crystal embellished sandals, and beautiful Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond, paraiba tourmaline, amethyst, and tanzanite disc earrings that this would have definitely been a dazzling moment for her to bring to life. Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine regularly jets to the Cannes Film Festival to walk the red carpet and add some glamour. I definitely wanted to see her do so again this year. To make for the perfect moment for Bruna to bring to life on the red carpet at the the Palais de Festivals I dug into the Elie Saab archives picking this emerald green strapless ballgown which features a dramatic sweetheart neckline, a thin defined waist, intricate crystal embroidery, and a sweeping train from the labels Fall 2013 Couture collection. This has long been one of my favorite Elie Saab Couture collections and there are just a couple of looks from this collection which haven’t been worn on the red carpet that I am dying to see brought to life. This is one of them. I think that Bruna could definitely bring this look to life with a sleek retro half up/half down hairstyle, defined eyes, red lips, a emerald satin DSquared2 strappy sandals, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2018 jewels including a pair of statement ‘Temple of Heaven’ earrings with emeralds, sapphires and diamonds and a matching ‘Temple of Heaven’ cuff bracelet. It would all make sure that this gown is finally given the major red carpet moment it deserves. When it comes to models I always expect the something left of normal from Liya Kebede. The Ethiopian supermodel has rocked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet over the years in edgy looks from Proenza Schouler, Roberto Cavalli, Haider Ackermann, Louis Vuitton, Paco Rabanne, Valentino, and more. Usually she picks cocktail ensembles. For this years festival I really wanted to see Liya step out on the red carpet at the Palais wearing this black Germanier Fall 2020 RTW suit which features an asymmetrical blazer with intricate crystal embellishment and feathers on the shoulders and cuff paired with slim fit pants that continue the crystal embellishments down one leg. What I love about Germanier, a new find to me after seeing a dress on Kristen Stewart last fall and then seeing this Fall 2020 RTW collection on ModaOperandi, is that he works sustainably in his designs. So to me that is a double win. I think that Liya would have easily brought this look to life on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. The suit itself is such a statement on its own I wouldn’t over-style the look, which I wouldn’t expect Liya to do. So I would finish this look with a loose updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of black Francesco Russo t-bar chain detail leather sandals, and simple Atelier Swarovski ‘Lola’ ruby drop earrings to ensure this would have been a major moment for Liya to deliver on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2020 RTW RED CARPET WISH LIST PART 3

After today I am navigating uncharted waters. This set of wishes for looks that came down the runways of Paris Fashion Week a few weeks ago really finishes out all my immediate wishes for the Fall 2020 RTW runway season. Overall I have been really impressed and honestly sad at the thought that due to the COVID-19 crisis that many of these looks will end up lost to the archives of fashion history. Even if this list is the only place we will ever get to enjoy the idea of these looks on a red carpet then so be it. At least in this time of crisis we are able to maintain a sense of fantasy when reality is do bleak.

2020 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Wish List

Sunday night in London the biggest names in Hollywood will descend upon the Royal Albert Hall for the 2020 BAFTA Awards. I have to say that after getting a list of the presenters I am super excited for this years red carpet. “Sustainability is very important to BAFTA, and we’re doing more than ever before,” a BAFTA spokesperson told Harper’s Bazaar. “The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, BAFTA is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.” That idea has pushed to the red carpet as well. The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge were asked to “dress sustainably” and quickly it went to everyone. So I decided to have fun with these wishes and do things a little differently than normal. Every look from this list is a wish for someone to re-wear something they have in the past, wear a vintage (or nouveau vintage), off the rack, archive runway, or from labels who are lauded as having sustainability as part of their core mission. Honestly I think this might be my favorite set of wishes. I raided the online vintage shop Shrimpton Couture (who has loaned out some of the best vintage for stars including Tracee Ellis Ross, Naomi Campbell, Emily Deschanel, Kate Hudson, Busy Phillips, & more) because owner and curator Cherie Balch has some of the most amazing gowns. I also found “second hand” gowns from The Real Real and 1stDibs. When it came to the re-wear’s I’ve picked it was super easy choices there as each of the looks I want to see worn again are some of the looks that I immediately think of when I think of those ladies. Overall I am really intrigued to see what will happen on this red carpet.

The 2020 BAFTA Awards will take place on Sunday February 2, 2020.
